Do you like Robin as a character or is she just a quirky lesbian to you.

Any thoughts on the latest dm rumor about HS4 being a proper break up album. I know, massive grain of salt and we've had plenty of album rumors thus far that haven't eventuated but if this one's true will it make you think a certain way?
…..anon we were supposed to get this album at the end of March, end of April, end of May, end of June, end of July and now probably some time in Q4.
We don’t even know if Harry has a record deal currently, considering his first record deal with Columbia was Very Publicly 3 albums - he’s now released 3 albums - and we haven’t gotten any reports of him signing any new deals with Columbia (or anyone) since.
Before I can even begin to give a shit about what this album is supposed to be about I have to actually trust that this album is coming any time soon. Which. I don’t. So like. Jot that down.

what strikes me about some anti-sylki takes is that someone comes up with a Problematic Interpretation that makes no fucking sense and then they go around the internet recruiting people who don't really agree with them but will go along with it because just not liking a pairing isn't good enough anymore (idk what that's about), and then within a few months you run into someone in another fandom saying "but i heard that pairing promotes the very common and not just made up from fuck-all idea that bisexuals only want to fuck themselves and also that it supports footbinding because the woman one has smaller feet than the man version of the character, how can you defend something like that?"
and i just can't get any further with a response to that than "what the fuck," because really what the fuck?

I've mostly been joking, but as someone who is like. a bit obsessive about canon and also has had huge phases of really really loving Dean Winchester I do miss people who understand and care about him rather than some guy they made up. like he's sooooooo

It's interesting that whenever this fandom goes "he would call you slurs" or just bringing up slurs in general they mention Billy, a character who not only never actually used any but got called one.
Really interesting.
They neglect to mention the characters who actually have used slurs, ya know, like Hopper or Steve.
They also seem to conveniently forgotten about Neil, who called his son a f*gg*t and slapped him.
Oh and how could I forget... they call Billy fans slurs.
The only real bullies here (remember Billy isn't real or a bully lmfao) are y'all.
The call is coming from inside the house 🤭

Love the assumption that if you are wlw then obviously you have to vote for Brittana as your favorite canon couple. As if sexual orientation determines which fictional characters' stories speak to you.

it’s okay that some of you enjoy your doves mildly injured with a broken wing but please understand that when I say “dead dove”, I mean the dove is ripped apart, at least.
“I enjoy dead dove too” and then harassing the person for liking their dove without a head is both hilarious and idiotic.

i agree w all of your r*nance thoughts. i also think a big issue for them would be nancy never being robin's Person bc of steve; i do not think that's something nancy could stomach. tho at this point, even if i had liked it originally, i would despise it bc of how often ppl have robin or nancy or both do absolutely sick and twisted things to steve. like the amount of fics where robin doesn't tell steve/actively lies to him about it for extended periods of time then he just has to be okay w it or they have robin just start putting nancy above steve in every aspect of life is ridiculous. then there's the really bad ones, like the fic i saw where the entire premise is r*nance fucking in steve's bed w/o his knowledge (and robin specifically doesn't feel bad at all which ???? like they have nancy feel bad but not robin? i will never understand) or the ficlet i saw where robin asks steve for sex advice then either 1) tells him it's nancy and he makes the advice specific (wtf) or 2) doesn't tell him but he figures it out later bc nancy thanks him since she realized the advice came from him (demonic). like what the actual fuck. sorry i had to complain about the things i've been forced to see against my will by tumblr.
so many things to complain about having seen on the hellsite. carry on fellow soldier 🫡
dsakjhfaksdhkf ya like. the concept of either of them starting to date someone they like and not immediately busting the other's door down like candace_momholyFUCK dot jpeg is just absurd to me. Robin would kiss a girl for the first time and as soon as she gets home she's dialing Steve up and twirling the phone cord around her fingers and kicking her legs, giggling. They were having boobie talk in the car at 7am. they def share if they actually get a date with someone they have a crush on!! (the exception being if that person didn't want to come out, like I could see Steve telling Robin he kissed a guy or had a boyfriend but not saying who because the bf wasn't ready for other people/people he didn't know well to know? but robin would still know he had a bf and details about what they do, just not personal details.)
I find it actually laughable that people would consider Robin would put some romantic interest above her most specialest boy in the whole wide world. Like. She was obsessed with him when she held her tammy and bagel crumb grudge and hated him! Now she loves him? Do people thing she isn't obsessed with him now?? Absolutely not she's worse and she steals his shirts to prove it.
Which I agree with you. Nancy obviously wants to be her romantic partner's priority and number 1. Jonathan's priority is his family and we saw in both s3 and s4 that this causes strain in their relationship! To the point they kinda break up in s3 about it! Robin and Steve both can no longer give that to their partners, because they have each other, scoops troop, and, by extension, the Party. Which is wild because s2 Nancy was Steve's priority.
idk whyyy people have Robin be mean to Steve :( stopppp that's her special little guy. her sweet cheese. her rotten soldier. She might say or do something that hurts him but she would try to apologize as soon as she realizes!! Just like he would for her! I think it might come from people still prioritizing romo ships over platonic ones and trying to have those be the most important and special and deep relationship the characters have.
lldkfjlakdflkajlfdj anon those are WILD fics wow. I think some are trying to acknowledge past st4ncy, but neglect all the hurt that happened at the end of that relationship, and that for the characters, in s4, Steve and Nancy broke up less than a year and a half ago! very messily and hurtfully! (once again, regardless of whether or not steve knows Nancy cheated) that is so short between the end of the relationship to be hooking up with your best friend's ex! that he has expressed romantic feelings for recently! or trying to emphasize robin and steve's weird little qpr comfortable in one another's space and oversharing relationship but missing the mark. like. it's one thing to sleep in a friend's bed with a different friend. it another to have sex in a friend's guest bedroom. it's another level to have sex in your friends bed? that's bonkers.wild.
I do think it'd be funny for Steve and Robin to exchange sex tips/stories but the first time i think Robin asks and Steve just blanks and goes "cut your nails. watch your teeth." which like. yeah. Robin figured. They're weirdos who live inside each other's pockets and brains but they probably do have some levels of comfort to work up to (they've been friends for less than a year! even if it feels like they've known each other forever)
(also. there is a weird thing sometimes where Nancy is closer to Steve/cares more openly about him than she would. I think it might be a bit of a backlash to people pointing out that she cheated on him in s2 and then seemed to not talk to him at all between then and s3 and again between s3 and s4? hmm...)

I miss the Livejournal fandom.
I mean it was very fuck the far from Utopian, I'm sure they would have turned out to be their own flavour of awful if they had continued. Not sure how they'd have handled social justice consciousness in online fandoms going turbo after 2013, but some of them did turn out to be complete assholes. And by god they were white female.
But. I miss them.
There's something deeply wrong with the online queer and leftist communities of the last few years. This hyper-consciousness around age masks a Puritanical rot that's spreading even amongst people who think they're against it.
Y'all are so, so cut off from older queer people that's it's legitimately frightening. Yes, you, even in your mid-20s. You guys are the oldest majority in fandom nowadays and it's...not great dudes. You're supposed to be friends with so many people in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Even 60s. That's what the internet is for.
This rejection and aversion to the unrelenting, unchecked and unlovely chaos of human life is writ large in other ways, on even the best fanworks. When was the last time you saw someone casually talk about farting in a fic? When it evoked stale food and sweat and caustic soap and grease and polyester? When you laughed at something that made something dark and familiar curl in your chest? When was the last time you consumed a piece of art and didn't stop to think about whether it was healthy or right? Critical thinking is not supposed to be finding the right boxes to chuck things into. And thinking about art is not always the point. All art is about making you feel. You're so divorced from the viscera of life that you've forgotten there's blood in your bodies. You're suffocating in dry land my dudes.
Y'all talk about social media monopolies and corporate manipulation and algorithms and capitalism but you have no idea how deep in it you are. So many things stay traumatic for you bc you've been told that the only way to escape the pain of your isolation is to sit quietly in a sterile room and taze anything that hurts you, rather than to make friends and break bread with them until they're unimportant. Isolating yourself from all the germs in the world won't kill them, but it sure as hell will kill you.
I really wish you would know to get scared at the right things, because you can fight them, because we have fought them before and won. Nobody can take your humanity from you, but you're still handing it over. And it's going to be merry hell to get it back.

I’ve noticed a pattern in fandom where people flock to stick Popular Characters into two extremes of morality: Popular Character has either never done anything wrong in their entire lives, or they’re a stinky bastard murder man but beloved regardless. People seem much more comfortable with characters who can easily slot into one of these two extremes. It’s the characters who fall somewhere in the middle that tend to freak people out.
There are some circles of fandom where people seem absolutely terrified at the prospect of a character who is good but makes questionable decisions, or who is bad but has a noble or admirable goal. Characters who don’t slot easily into “all good” or “all bad” end up getting their edges filed off so they fit one or the other. One character will have a past of truly dreadful sins ignored and washed clean by fandom at large, but another is villainized and has their actions nitpicked and misinterpreted to turn them irredeemable. Stereotypes and oversimplification turn complex characters into one-dimensional caricatures. This is annoying as shit, not only because it turns nuanced stories into thoughtless Goofus and Gallant-level morality fables, but it eventually devolves into fans judging each other for their opinions on fictional people.
Stories are a lot more interesting when characters are allowed to be multi-faceted; neither all good nor all bad. Even heroic characters have flaws and can have bad opinions, bad ideas, or just plain make mistakes. And even the worst and most despicable villains are more interesting if there is some level of relatability to them, some glimmer of understandable motivation or human emotion in their actions or beliefs.
In conclusion, everyone is entitled to like or dislike characters for their own reasons, but my problematic favs are the best, actually, so there.

This post gets a little into discourse, so if you want to avoid 9-1-1 fandom discourse I've put this under a read more/keep reading. I guess the TL;DR you can take from this is I'm likely not going to be posting the final chapters of my multichapter fic anytime soon, if at all.
The tags are *also* discoursey/venty, so don't hit the "see all" if you don't like discourse.
After my last post, I kinda went offline for a little while to rest and recoup. (I've lost access to my discord account because I've since got a new laptop.)
I've had my treatment and am, in general, feeling a lot better. But when I got back online after a week or so break and scrolled my dash a bit, I immediately saw shit slinging and aggression from everyone I seem to follow. Or, if it wasn't active participation in discourse, it was vaguing about ignoring discourse.
So, I logged off.
Then, I log back on a week later and I see even more discourse.
This time I blocked the tags of people I seemed to see the most, and moved on with it.
This week, I thought "third times a charm" and opened up tumblr. It is not the charm, in fact it is much much worse.
I'm not going to go into it, and I'm not naming names, but this is not my first fandom rodeo. I've been in a lot of fandoms over the years, and none (literally none) have ever come close to being this fractured and toxic to me (and I'm a fucking DC and SPN fan, Jesus Christ. I legitimately said to a friend of mine "take me back into the DC fandom, it's not safe in 9-1-1.")
I'm not going to "both sides are as bad as each other" but I am going to say I've never followed any actively 'Buddie' accounts, only BuckTommy's and multi-shippers, and all the shit I'm seeing? It's being slung by BuckTommy's. Back over the garden wall, for sure, but sometimes you're scooping out of your own toilet to throw at the people you're roommates with.
That's a messy metaphor.
Either way, some of y'all need the hiatus' you're saying you're taking. Wait for the show to come back, and all the trolls to get preoccupied with the new episodes, touch some grass, do some breathing, prioritize yourself and not people on the internet.
All this to say, I've never felt more demoralized and demotivated to write for other people before. I always have, and will continue to, write for myself. I post it to share for free so other people who might want to read what I do too, can.
Because of all the hate and vitriol, I no longer want to share it with you.
I had had plans to get the chapter beta'd this week and wanted the fic done by the time the new season hit (just in case my interpretation and HC's were severely contradicted) but that's no longer the plan.
I'm logging off, again, for the foreseeable future and taking my own advice. I'll be back when the new season starts.

I think there is something inherently problematic about spending a dedicated amount of time ripping apart not only two characters, but their fans and the actors that play them. While continuing to promote and compare them to your favorites.
I mean, you can do whatever you want, honestly. That's the beauty of tumblr. But unless you are gaining something from surrounding yourself in constant negativity, I honestly don't get it.
