Since my clangen is taken a while due to a plethora of things like Depression relapse, many many failed attempts via either corruption or me getting bored and starting over, and now its me spontaneously wanting to start multiple clans at once! 😅

So heres some spoilers and wips for now, these arent all leaders, just more rando cats, Rootclan is missing atm because I'm taking a smoll break.

Edited: I decided not make the main theme around fear or trauma responses. That might be a little insensitive, and I don't know how to go about that tastefully.

my anonymous assumption is that you read warrior cats as a kid in an attempt to fit in with all the other kids reading it but you never really got into it. you liked the roleplaying at recess that came from it though

you're nearly right but underestimating my autism. cats were my first special interest (*i highly doubt this is unique for autistic babies). my first word was kitty. I made a songbook where I wrote out the lyrics to varuous public domain singalong songs and changed most of the words to 'Cat' or 'Kitty'. I made a warrior cats role playing card game and played it on my own. I was roleplaying at recess and friends' houses until we were 'too old'. I missed it terribly.

my username is based on an incident that happened when I was in the woods pretending to be a cat.

I belong with the warrior cats.

how are you going to handle ashfur in wcr? i’ve always loved him but also felt like he should have been more clearly written either as a sympathetic tragic character or a total asshole, instead of kind of both

Technically, both!

On one hand, his mother was brutally murdered when he was young. He and his 3 siblings relied heavily on each other, but when Ferncloud got together with Dustpelt, Tulipfur grows closer to the older cats of Thunderclan, and Elderleaf buried herself in her work to try and become Camp Keeper, he feels upset and left behind. He has a right to feel that way, but he keels feeling that way. Stuck in the past... And over time, he blames everyone around him for his troubles.

A bonus scene shows his trial shows that he is incredibly charming. He sways the jury by pleading to see his mother, being incredibly loving towards her, and asking about his passed on nieces, Larchkit and Hollykit.

He plays up the sympathy card, talking about how it was such a foolish thing to do, how he just loved Squirrelflight too much, and how he totally deserved what Hollyleaf did. He blames Brambleclaw in a roundabout way. See, he just looked do much like the cat who killed my mom :(

The jury is mostly split and the final vote falls to Yellowfang.

After she and Raggedstar split up, he became mates with Foxheart. He didn't love Foxheart, just used her feelings and affections to hurt Yelf. Yellowfang admitted that, though she knew what he was doing, it still hurt. She wanted to shout at him, hurt him, and even wanted to hurt Foxheart, who hadn't done anything wrong.

She votes in his favour, because she finds it a bit relatable. She fell for the act, many cats did. She is ashamed to admit it later on, but in that moment, she knew what that anger was like. She still disapproves of his treatment of Hollypaw, and his anger towards the Three, but his trial is about The Fire Scene specifically, and all of Starclan knows Squirrelflight is going to be on trial when she eventually passes away.

And, for a good chunk of his time in Starclan, he looks normal. He hangs out with his nieces, cheering when they get their Star names, Hollyfoot and Larchwhisker. He hangs out with Tulipfur when his brother dies during AVOS, defending him when his cross-clan relationship comes into question.

In Squirrelflight's eyes, he was strange, and controlling, he treated her like some precious thing that couldn't do too much or she would break, some kind of prize to be hoarded.

Many cats alive did not like him. His was an ass towards most cats in Thunderclan, and he wasn't popular.

TBC shows his true colours. Controlling, manipulative, holier-than-thou, vindictive, and entitled.

Squirrelflight is glad to finally put him down for good.

something that i often feel is forgotten is the way hollyleaf murdered ashfur. like yeah she did go just chomp down on him but there was more to it than that.

the wound was small and well concealed, nobody even knew if he was murdered or not until quite a while after his death. she was careful.

she threw him into the river afterwards if i remember correctly (if not it was still right next to a river). drowning is a common death amongst cats which lowers suspicion even more, it would have been very easy to assume he died on his own accord.

ashfur's murder was clearly not something hollyleaf did in a fit of rage or just on a limb one day, it was carefully planned and well executed (pun intended). in fact, it was a decent while until anyone was suspisous of her. i want to see this side of hollyleaf more. not just the betrayed angry fear, but the cold calculating "did what had to be done" side that is brought out by the former emotions.

And whenever they get confused by that I gleefully elaborate with

does anyone get unreasonably aggravated when they see someone calling a normal split-faced tortie as a chimera? like it literally couldn’t matter less, but it matters to ME, so I feel an overwhelming need to explain how no, that is NOT a chimera, that is a normal tortie, cat genetics just do that sometimes during x-inactivation because of bilateral symmetry. yippee!

Every day I log on and see Warriors fan artists making stories that are infinitely more complex, emotional, and sophisticated than the source material ever has been. It's incredible how such a error-riddled, flat, and continually disappointing series has led to such incredible creative vision.

Y'know I forgot how in depth the warrior cats fandom can be until I looked at the notes for a poll about which cat deserves to go to the dark forest the most and if you don't know warrior cats, the dark forest is essentially cat hell. And I could not be bothered to read all that bc there were actual paragraphs in the comments of the poll. I did vote in the poll btw, I voted for Clearsky. I don't even remember who Clearsky is I just vaguely remember someone saying they sucked.
