#watch Porky and Daffy cartoons

proper reupload in the high quality this fantastic segment so deserves; eagle pig and duck bias notwithstanding, this will forever be my favorite variant of the fabled switcheroo (and a reminder that Daffy was first at his own game!) the committal on behalf of both characters--especially the sincerity of Daffy's feigned sincerity--really sets it apart
#that delivery of “don't you believe i'm a fish?” sounds so hurt and it's perfect#likewise i think there are few one-liners/toppers that make me laugh as much as 'i told ya i was a pig'#and that all knowing glance at the audience from Daffy doesn't feel obnoxiously smarmy or self aware#there's a friendly nonchalance to it. a very clear amusement and not in a way that undermines anything this segment is setting out to achie#again. my favorite buzzword: that sincerity! a sincere investment and amusement in watching Porky obliviously and endearingly make an ass#out of himself#and of course the cross dissolve and setup of the composition implying a story/sequence of events taking place within that time...#this short isn't my favorite P+D short--i still LOVE IT A TON but there are so many i revere--but i think it's one of the most definitive#if someone was looking to get a good understanding on their character dynamic this would be one of my immediate recommendations#i haven't had the bandwidth to spread my pig and duck gospel but please#watch Porky and Daffy cartoons#tangential but i've always loved the sound effect Treg Brown uses for Porky dropping the gun#good exaggeration/whimsy while also connoting Porky's stubbornness and that this stupid petty argument is enough for him to lose sight of#his motives and discard his murder weapon. all because of this joyously stupid argument. so i like the self awareness there with how obtuse#the sound effects are#because anyone who is not Porky Pig would have just shot him point blank#and that is everything i love about their dynamic and how Daffy's intoxicating charisma and ability to get people invested even affects the#very characters on screen#gee d'you think i ought to have said more about this scene#lt#duck soup to nuts#freleng#vid

do you have headcanons bout Daffy and Bugs in a relationship?
boy do I?!?!?!
k, so ima just copy some of the ones i shared on insta (most of these hc I’ve already displayed in some form in my fics?? so I feel I'm just repeating myself lolol) and try and come up with more
Daffy is an extrovert. Bugs is a very social introvert (Think about it, a lot of classic shorts start with bugs comfortable at home. He’s very much a homebody) Of course, he wouldn’t let anyone know. He still loves to meet new people and mingle, do interviews and socialize with celebrities. He can talk and joke all night, and never once show that his social meter is completely drained–he IS an actor after all. But somehow, Daffy knows when Bugs is running on empty and needs to rest. He will drag him out of parties and sit his ass down so he can catch a breath.
They buy each other’s merch :’) Their favorite stuff is usually non-licensed stuff. Their sillier the knockoffs are, the better.
I love playing around with canon, so: Bugs’ was a copycat of Daffy’s personality because as a nobody-extra at the time, Daffy was his hero. Daffy found out and helped Bugs to stand out as his own tune–he quickly noticed Bugs’ unique snark and encouraged him to experiment with implementing that in physical comedy. The rest is history.
Bugs has a preference for carrot flavored foods, but isn’t particularly picky with his food otherwise. To say that Daffy is picky with his food is an understatement. His “refine pallet” demands only the finest. So, Bugs always has (organic, non gmo, grass fed, cage free, range free rent free you name it) Daffy’s favorite things stocked up in his pantry for when Daffy invites himself over to dinner. Which is every day.
Bugs thinks he’s the shit and can overcome anything (which I mean, it isn’t wrong to come to that conclusion). He gets bored easily. So what’s the next best challenge for him? Cheating death time and time again, of course. I guess on a subconscious level, whoever comes closest to beathing him or at least can match his level of insanity is worth his time. Plus, someone tryna kill him gives him the perfect opportunity to flex his wit at the expense of his adversaries. All this to say, Bugs sees Daffy tryna crush him under mallets or anvils as just, hangin out. Maybe flirting. Or maybe cause they’re cartoons and don’t express affection like humans do gjhjdg.
For bein the mascot and one of the most recognizable toons on the planet, Bugs sure lives humbly. and tbh, I think it’s cause 1) he’s a guy with few needs and 2) he just lets himself spend all sorts of money for Daffy. Accountants at WB are like “wtf why does he live so poorly” and its bc Bugs pays for all their vacations, Daffy’s aforementioned diet, etc. and the thing is, he’s totally unaware how gone is is for Daff to just. Buy him a car without a second thought. Porky tried to bring it up once, tho, to no avail. Poor porky.
Daffy and Bugs love to watch all sorts of old films together. Sometimes, they even watch their old shorts and tease each other on how badly they used to act. Buster Keaton nights are their favorites.
Bugs and Daffy loooveee gossiping about other toons+celebrities. They have dirt on practically everyone in the industry.

these two clowns literally put big statues of each other in front of the university ..
oh and let’s not forget the flag :
Tumblr media
also there is an aniamaniacs episode where Bugs, Daffy and Porky have to judge awful student films and i absolutely recommend watching it
btw here are their positions and classes:
Principal Bugs Bunny - Principal / Wise Cracks / Football Coach / Basic Wild Takes / Others
Prof. Daffy Duck - Spotlight Stealing / Self Centerism / Advanced Wild Takes
(also i love how it is so in character that Daffy teaches advanced wild takes while Bugs teaches the basics)

+ small bonus:
“ In the Season 1 episode "Prom-ise Her Anything", Buster doesn't know how to dance and thus tries to learn a few dance moves from the Bugs Bunny cartoon "Hot Cross Bunny" with less success. Bugs, pretending Buster has started a new dance craze, joins in. A relieved Buster asks how he can repay Bugs, as Bugs responds, "Next time, swipe one of Daffy's routines!" ”

Everything Announced at the Annecy Cartoon Network, Max, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe Panel
Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe had a panel at the Annecy Festival today. These panels aren't available to the public, but according to people who were there, we can see what was announced. There's a lot of news to cover here.
A new series based on Beast Boy on his own, fittingly titled Beast Boy: Lone Wolf.
Batman: Caped Crusader, the new Batman series that is now coming to Amazon instead of Max, had a sneak peek.
Along with that, other DC-related shows that were brought up in some way include My Adventures With Superman, Creature Commandos, the film Merry Little Batman, a spinoff series of Merry Little Batman called Batfamily, a new season of Harley Quinn, and a spinoff of Harley Quinn called Kite Man: Hell Yeah! (source)
The Daffy and Porky movie is still happening, and has been renamed Bubble Brains.
Something was teased that involved Taz in stop motion.
The Amazing World of Gumball was said to be getting a new series after the movie, but they changed their mind and made it just Season 7 of the original show. They did not mention anything about the movie.
Tiny Toons Looniversity's opening was shown.
Turns out, watching a show will make it continue whether you like it or not, because they mentioned that Velma is getting a Season 2.
The Fionna and Cake spinoff's opening was shown. This will be on Max, and will be targeted to adults. Max did release an adult animation sizzle reel that has a split second of this show today along with Velma and a new series based on the short Hair Love called Young Love, which can be seen here.
The preschool spinoff of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends has been picked up and given the name Foster's Imaginary Nursery. An image of a CGI Bloo was shown off. (source)
One person said Jessica's Big Little World, The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, and Invincible Fight Girl were at least brought up, but I couldn't find it in any other source. (source)
Conspicuously absent during this panel are anything involving the Gumball movie, anything else involving certain Craig McCracken projects, the fate of Bye Bye Bunny, and what they're going to do with the upcoming Cartoon Cartoons shorts.

What does Porky agreeing with Daffy on all that and trying to kill Bugs for food later that year mean
You must be talking about The Corny Concerto, written by Frank Tashlin, directed by Bob Camplet, because that's the only cartoon Porky is shown as hunter trying to hunt Bugs after that. Well, the characters are treated like actors, in Porky Pig's Feat, Porky says that he had watched Bugs' cartoons, which means that they're giving their honest opinion as fellow actors, and it's not part of a script. In The Corny Concerto they are obviously acting (it's an opera even) and following a script, they are on a scenary performing, that's all.

'Fast and Furry-ous' (1949): The Short Film Debut of Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner in the Looney Tunes Cartoons
By Sofi Ojeda
(7 min reading)
In 1940s decade, the world of animation had advanced to the point where people could enjoy cartoon films in theaters with sound and color, at least in the United States. Looney Tunes comprised a series of animated short films created by Warner Brothers Inc, founded in 1923. They began producing animation in 1930, initially influenced by the success of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse.

Over the subsequent decade, a host of beloved characters were introduced to audiences, such as Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, and Bugs Bunny, the latter of whose authentic persona shone in "A Wild Hare" (1940). A few years later, in 1949, "Fast and Furry-ous," directed by Chuck Jones, emerged, signifying the inaugural appearance of the iconic Coyote and Road Runner duo, which is the focus of our discussion today.

"Fast and Furry-ous" humorously portrays the Coyote's futile attempts to catch the Road Runner in a desert canyon crisscrossed by freeways, often relying on products provided by the well-known but notoriously unreliable Acme Company. As an interesting aside, in the early stages of his design, Wile E. Coyote's name was Don Coyote, possibly a nod to Don Quixote, the delusional but noble-hearted gentleman who envisions himself as a chivalrous knight in the classic novel "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes. Analogously, Wile E. comically persists with constant schemes to catch the Road Runner but often finds himself in absurd and humorous predicaments, creating an almost delusional sense of knightly adventure.
Tumblr media
This GIF is not the short Fast and Furry-ous" (1949)
There was a three-year gap between this and the second Road Runner cartoon, "Beep, beep" (1952). Chuck Jones initially intended it as a one-shot cartoon but changed his mind due to positive public reception, notably a letter from a Naval Air Force captain who mentioned pilots mimicking the Road Runner's call during maneuvers.
This cartoon came to life during an era when people were looking for an escape from the challenges of the Great Depression and the post-World War II economic strains. Astonishingly, the ingenious and imaginative humor in the film retains its relevance in 2023, firmly establishing it as a timeless classic. I believe it consistently offers solace to viewers by presenting characters in more trying predicaments than those found in their ordinary lives.

In terms of technical aspects, the animation adhered to tradition, and character model sheets from that era still exist. Narratively, it adhered to a common formula of a protagonist's repeated failures leading to a series of mishaps. Although this wasn't the Coyote's initial character design, as he had appeared in a Looney Tunes comic a few months earlier, some argue that it still counts as his first appearance since he had a different name in the comics. Lastly, The Road Runner's famous "Beep, Beep!" was inspired by the background artist Paul Julian, who made the sound while dashing through the animator's offices.
"Fast and Furry-ous" remains a historical gem that viewers can watch on Vimeo. It serves as a testament to the enduring appeal of Looney Tunes and the remarkable legacy of Chuck Jones's contributions to animation.

Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight: The Looney Tunes Show- "We're in Big Truffle"
Tumblr media
I finally watched The Looney Tunes Show in full recently and had a lot of fun. My heart will always be closer to the original shorts, of course, but I like the direction the series went in, especially in the second season as it doubled down on Daffy and Lola's shennigans.
This one is a classic, in which Daffy convinces Porky to go hunting for truffle, asking him to use his pig senses to search in the woods. They succeed, but are trailed by a bear. Unfortunately, Daffy does not have any duck-like tendencies, and he's not able to fly or swim Porky away, so they're stranded.
Meanwhile, Bugs promises to watch Gossamer as Witch Hazel goes off to a convention (in this version, Gossamer is Hazel's son), but that goes wrong when Lola stops by and uses one of Hazel's spells to transform Gossamer into a frog, who hops away. She and Bugs try to turn him back but it doesn't quite work out. Also, apparently bears aren't indigenous to this part of the country.
Pretty fun stuff, everyone has their moments. I wouldn't mind another season of Daffy wackiness like this.

sylvester, tweety, elmer
16. deepest darkest secret
18. what they'd go see a therapist about
32. something guaranteed to make them laugh/smile
33. something guaranteed to make them cry
Warning - Mentions of death/killing people, the war and thoughts of suicide.
Sylvester:
16. Sylvester had to kill more than a few people in the war. Mostly out of neccesity of course. He's not a sociopath. He did quite a few mercy killings as well. He's told no one except Scratchy and Sylvia mainly because he's afraid of how the others will react. Toons killing humans is a big No-No. [Because of the fear of retribution] and Sly isn't sure if even the war will be regarded as an adequate excuse.
As most of the toons don't go into details about their experience in the war, Sly isn't sure if the others have had to kill people or not. It's the mercy kills he's most worried about. Obviously the other toons have had to kill the soldiers from the opposite side of the war.
18. He sees Scratchy for help regarding his experience in the war and his severe PTSD. He has sometimes attended couples therapy with Sylvia and family therapy with both Sylvia and Junior.
32. His son being adorable is guaranteed to make him smile. Seeing his son in general is a good way to lift his spirits.
33. He's cries out of frustration a lot. Before he was diagnosed with dyslexia he cried a lot when trying to do homework for school because he found it really difficult. Sylvia had to sit down and help him a lot.
Tweety:
16. As far as he's concerned it's that he sees himself as very manipulative. Mainly due to feedback from his cartoons. He finds himself questioning his relationship with his family a lot.
18. Tweety's actually one of the few who doesn't see Scratchy regularly, so they mainly just have a yearly review [which Scratchy is required to do with every toon on his books] In anything he [along with Sylvia] is the one bringing his concerns about Sly to Scratchy, cos Sly sure as hell won't do it himself.
32. He loves old black-and-white movies. Anything with high amounts of physical comedy. He's also quite find of British television, especially stand-up. After a hard day he'll watch a movie and it'll cheer him up.
33. Tweety doesn't really cry, but if he does it's because either he's scared or Granny is upset. He'll also cry to get attention.
Elmer:
16. After the war Elmer went mute. It took a while to be noticed - because the others were so chaotic - but when it was it was suggested he go to live with Arthur.Q.Bryan. The thinking was the if he was away from the others he might come out his shell a bit more. This worked so far in that he started talking again, but because he was a Toon living in the human world it was very difficult.
He ended up having some suicidal thoughts - which were thankfully caught by Bryan. But he's determined not to make it be a well-known thing. Only 4 toons know - Bugs, Daffy, Porky + Petunia.
18. Elmer sees Scratchy for help with dealing with the war [and the after-effect when he was living with Bryan] as well as his high-anxiety and depression.
32. Elmer likes antiques and history. He loves walking round museums and antique shops. He's also quite fond of corny jokes and even if he's heard it a million times before he'll laugh.
33. Sad films with people/animals dying will always get Elmer to cry. Even Disney stuff when he knows there's a high chance it's a fake out will get him to cry. He's not actually ashamed though and will cry openly.

it’s pretty cool that there were a couple of shorts from the newest bunch of looney tunes cartoons that played around with different art styles, but my favorite is the short where daffy tries to get more birds to eat his bread crumbs than porky because he feels more akin to his chuck jones characterization compared to the rest of the series
I haven't watched all the new shorts yet but i did watch that one when i noticed the different art style, definitely will make gifs of that one i love how it looked and YES i like daffy being wacky and all but his petty personality will always be better

(Jessica Rabbit's Pov)
The next day, I stretched and poured myself a bittersweet cold brew.
I had already gotten myself ready for the day, and Roger had already left for work and was now hoping for my entries to arrive.
I fetched myself the newsletter, with another rescue by Peter Parker on the front, and Acme dynamite profit loss.
There is nothing to be terribly concerning, except when you get to the first page, I softly gasped.
"Cartoons who have been abandoned by their creators and peers have started underground cult, that takes down the more popular ones and kidnaps supernaturals to help with their summonings...." I read aloud, tracing my finger on one of the first to go.
He was a lanky teen. He had a satchel full of books and had a well-dressed suit. He had a mug-like head and a rather large nose. Everything else was marked out.
"Call local Toontown police for any sightings of this boy or members of the group, at 555-505-5505" I read, a slight tear dripping down my chin.
.....
I wiped it away, trying to think about my entries.
My doorbell rang as I whipped my head around, immediately hiding the newsletter, as I answered the door.
A skinny black duck with a yellow backpack on himself, a boy who i couldn't really see due to him was strapped to the backpack, the duck had a white ripped crop top and large baggy jeans, stood out my door.
"Yo, daffy duck here...." he said, walking in without shaking my hand, the *nerve* of that duck.
Beside him was a pudgy pink pig who was wearing a crisp blue blazer and a red bow tie, who had a peculiar stuttering problem. "Sorry a-about him, m-miss," the pig replied as he shook my hand and walked in.
I watched daffy lay out the boy, on my velvet couch, unwrapping bandages from his body and turning towards me, "Do you mind? Also, whatever you're thinking right now, this is far from any ordinary backpack, it's designer, " he said.
"So, umm.... have you guys come for the contest?" I asked, clasping my gloved hands together.
The trio nodded as I sighed in relief as I sat down beside them, getting comfortable on the chić velvety couch.
"So, in order for us to win as a group, until we find bugs, we must be able to  do best performance. In the practice movie of our choice, I have chosen Carrotblanca for us since it was the easiest."  I excitedly explained. As daffy whispered into his friends ears, I waited expectantly.
"I g-guess, b-but h-how do we m-make a movie by s-scratch?" Porky asked as he shyly fiddled with his slimy palms.
"Well, elementary, dear Porky, we'll have all of our supplies set for us, like if we need extra cast members or a couple more hours to work, they'll provide it for us...."  I excitedly said, leaning closer to Porky
The boy slowly sat up, propping himself on the cushions, trying to cover his hands, but soon, a bullet was sent flying into my 100-pound, golden stained glass chandelier.
It broke the chandelier, and the support beam broke, snapping in half, causing me to panic, I ducked, and it crashed, I looked up, and I was protected by a clear force-field.
I looked at the boy, who was glitching as he continued to strengthen the force field.
Daffy grinned, "he's like a mini bodyguard. He's kinda awesome....." he said as the force field disappeared, and the chandelier was fixed.
I softly smiled, going back to my talk on our movie.
"As I was saying, each of you need a role, daffy can be.... a pianist? Porky can be a private eye, and you could be a seductress....?" I said, thinking of random roles on a whim....
Porky excitedly nodded, writing this all down in his beige notebook that had tapes and stickers on it.
The trio and I would have a lot to work on, but it's not everyday your faced with a real supernatural, a cute duck, and a shy pig.

can i ask for a ⭐ for Your Favorite Duck? i cant stop coming back to reread it! /pos
Thanks for the ask, and wow! I’m so happy that you come back to this fic. Tbh, it’s my favorite of the bunch, I had the most fun writing it. I’m a little sad that it has the fewest hits in the series but I understand the tone isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Either way, tapping into Daffy’s headspace was so fun.
The closing lines and description of the fic popped into my mind one day as a drawing prompt at first, but then I started thinking: ok, this is an incredibly vulnerable moment… what could possibly have built up to that? I decided that writing would do it justice.
So I had my ending, and I already had the setting–a dressing room backstage, hours before curtain call– but I wasn’t sure who’s pov to stick with. I realized I hadn’t tried writing from Daffy’s perspective, and so when I got into that headspace everything started to fall into place. Daffy’s very observant, always thinking of the “good ole days”, and can get deep into thought sometimes. Because of that, I felt free to explore some ideas I had on how cartoons view celebrity, what Happy Rabbit could have been like, and articulating Daffy’s mixed feelings towards Bugs without losing the focus of the fic.
Watching the old shorts again, it’s very obvious Bugs’ prototype Happy Rabbit was a carbon copy of Daffy. He slowly came into his own though, but it took some experimentation to get there. I know that A Wild Hare is Bugs’ official debut, but I feel it devalues what I believe to be his true origins in Porky’s Hare Hunt. Watching Happy Rabbit grow from a poor imitation of Daffy into his real personality in A Wild Hare feels like it gives depth to Bugs’ character. I’d rather he’s a rabbit that went through growing pains than a character whose debut was a perfect, instant success. Idk, I just really want to write stuff that shows Bugs isn’t as untouchable as everyone thinks he is. That being said, I played with those two ideas to make for some delicious juicy inner conflict on Bugs’ end. Even though the ending is sweet, I don’t think Bugs will ever reconcile with what he was, or even acknowledge his imperfect past again haha. He’s fine going along with the general consensus that Happy is a completely different toon than him.
I might make some other fics abt backstage shenanigans, there’s just something about the anticipation always looming in the air, moments that are brief but sincere, but needs to be left in the room for the sake of the audience. It’s a fun way to make some progress in relationships, but also a reassurance that the status quo will be upheld.

Constructive criticism: Space Jam 2 and Scoob!
Ah yes, Space Jam: A New Legacy and Scoob!
Space Jam: A New Legacy
We live in a time where you can make movies about everything. Books, comics, video games, board games, old SNL skits and even commercials.
In 1992 and 1993, two Super Bowl Nike ads, "Hare Jordan" and "Aerospace Jordan" respectively, aired on television and featured Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny. Both ads were commerically succesful and led to the green-lighting of a film featuring Jordan and Bugs.
The project was closed when Jordan retired from basketball in 1993, only to be reopened in 1995 when Jordan returned to play basketball again.
In 1996 Space Jam was released; a movie where the Looney tunes recruit Michael Jordan to help them beat a gang of aliens in a game of basketball.
The movie was a big hit at the Box Office and did OK with the critics.
When I saw it I found it enjoyably OK, and still do. Sure, it`s not the next Who framed Roger Rabbit, but it`s fine.
Years later Warner Bros. decided to cash in on the Space Jam nostalgia, and in 2021 they released Space Jam A New Legacy to the theaters.
It didn`t do that well at the Box Office and received generally negative reviews from critics for its humor, overlong runtime, and particularly for its extensive product placement of WarnerMedia properties.
This is another one of those movies that I haven`t seen but I know what happens in it thanks to watching videos about it on youtube.
So, if I could travel back in time with the help of a timemachine from ACME, what would I have changed?
I would not make it about the Looney tunes competing in a sport against a team of bad guys. From what I`ve seen from trailers and other videos, the movie put a lot of emphasis on "Look at how many IPs we have!" with all the references to other WB movies, just like Disney did in Ralph Breaks the Internet. So I would keep the whole "Looney tunes meets some of WB`s other animated characters" angle. The LT characters should be made with 2D animation, or at least 3D animation that looks convincingly 2D.
Plot
Our main protagonist, let`s call her Jody, (played by Zendaya) works at some big megastore (maybe Walmart?) and is bored with her own life. She would like to go out and travel the world but she rarely has enough money. When she has money she doesn`t have enough time and sometimes she just too stuck in her rut to carpe that diem. One night her apartment is invaded by Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Porky Pig and Daffy Duck. (In this universe cartoon characters are NOT something common like it was in Roger Rabbit, so Jody is quite shocked she she sees them.)
The toons reveal that that there is trouble in the animated world, a big, evil space lord, let`s call him... Monty Cosmos (voiced by Don Cheadle), is taking over and is trying to enslave the animated world. (Not a very original idea, I know.)
Monty Cosmos` personality is similar to Hades from Disney`s Hercules. A couple of toons that have already joined him by their own free will are: Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Marvin the Martian, Wile E. Coyote and Taz.
Bugs, Lola, Daffy and Porky tried to fight Cosmos but were overpowered, forced to flee and ended up in her world by accident and have been trying to find a way back.
Suddenly Taz breaks through the door to her apartment. A portal opens, Bugs, Lola, Daffy, Porky and even Jody are forced to escape through it. They are now in the animated world, the one who opened the portal was an animated professor (It could be an already existing character or a character made for this movie.) Jody meets not just the Looney tunes but many other characters as well, like Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Tom and Jerry, The Iron Giant, pretty much any character from an animated franchise owned by WB.
The story is kinda like a mix between Lord of the Rings and Crisis on infinte Earths, but PG and more humorous. The gang and Jody need to go to a place to find a thing that they can take with them and use to defeat Monty Cosmos, but their journey is not easy.
I would include Pepé Le Pew in my movie, but I would dial down the more problematic parts of his behaviour. I would also include Minerva Mink and Heloise Nerz (better known as Hello Nurse) in the movie, and I would imply that they were bi or pansexual and attracted to each other. Pinky and the Brain would also be in the movie, they would be working with Cosmos. The Brain however, would have plans to, when the time was right, get rid of Cosmos and take over his throne. This is The Brain we`re talking about after all, he`d rather be in power than serve the man in power.
In the end, when Monty is defeated, Fred (from Scooby Doo) shows up to see "who is hiding behind the mask" and starts to pull on Monty`s face.
Monty Cosmos: "Ow! Stop it you idiot! This is my real face!"
Fred: "Oh! Sorry! Old habit."
Happy ending. Everybody celebrates. Jody is glad she got to have an adventure and Pinky and the Brain return to their lab to prepare for tomorrow night.
Pinky: "Why, Brain? What are we going to do tomorrow night?"
Brain: "The same thing we do every night, Pinky — try to take over the world!"
Aand... That`s all folks!
What would I call this film since it doesn`t have basketball (or any other kind of sport) in it?
Maybe:
Looney tunes: Through the Looniverse
Looney tunes: Across the Looniverse
(Something with Looney tunes and Looniverse.)
It`s not that think that Zendaya did a bad job voicing Lola, (then again, I haven`t seen the movie) but it feels like the people behind this decision were thinking: "Who needs experienced voice actors when you have celebrities? People will like this movie because of all the celebrities!" While celebrities are fun you can`t rely completely on them to carry an entire movie. And since this movie didn`t do well at the Box Office I think we can safely say that this kind of strategy isn`t exactly foolproof.
Space Jam wasn`t a masterpiece, like I said earlier: it was OK, but it was an interesting kind of OK, and the later half of the nineties was an interesting time.
A New Legacy was more interested in trying to catch lightning in a bottle again by doing pretty much the same things the first one did in a time full or remakes, reboots and rehashes.
And yes, I realized that my idea is similar to Looney tunes: back in action.
Scoob!
Back in June 2014, Warner Bros. Pictures decided to reboot the Scooby-Doo film series with an animated film. After a few years, Scoob! came out in 2020 (not the greatest time to go to the cinema).
Set in a Hanna-Barbera animated shared universe, the film follows Mystery Incorporated working with the Blue Falcon to stop Dick Dastardly's evil plan to unleash Cerberus.
It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised its animation, voice performances, and sense of nostalgia but criticized its modernization, writing, and polarizing casting choices.
Unlike A New Legacy, this is a movie that I actually did see.
So, if I could travel back in time and make some changes to this movie, what would I change?
I would have gotten away with it, if it hadn`t been for those meddling SPOILERS!
Fred, Blue Falcon, Dynomutt and captain Cavemans personalities
Fred is too much of a stupid dudebro for my liking and Blue Falcon is too juvenile and obsessed with social media to be a functional crimefighter. I guess these changes were made to pander to the 7 to 10 year olds in the audience.
I was gonna suggest that their personalities should be more like they were in the show but Fred and Blue Falcon didn`t really have that much of a personality.
So, make Fred more like a Steve Rogers-like boy-scout who wants to do the right thing. Blue Falcon could be like Kevin Conroy`s Batman with a little hint of Adam West`s Batman. He could deliver funny lines in a serious way.
Dynomutt should be stupid.
Captain Caveman should have been like he was in the show, voiced by an experienced voice actor. When he spoke I couldn`t hear Captain Caveman, only a celebrity doing a celebrity voice.
I would also imply that Velma is gay, because representation matters.
Synopsis
I like the part in the beginning with the mystery gang as kids, so I`m keeping that in my version.
Fast forward to the present: The gang is at a diner being interviewed by a reporter (Lose Simon Cowell, his cameo is pointless.) and she brings up everyones strenghts and what they bring to the group. But questions what it is that Scooby and Shaggy does that helps the group, she has done her research and says that most of the times that they have managed to catch the bad guys in monster costumes it despite of Shaggy and Scooby`s effort, not because of it.
Shaggy and Scooby object and try to come up with examples of how they help the group, but just end up helping the reporter`s argument.
Shaggy and Scooby start to question themselves, the rest of the gang try to comfort them.
Fred gets a text message that someone wants them to invesigate a haunted house, the gang drives to the house and are greeted by a blonde woman named Ms. Jaffe who`s late grandfather used to own the house. The gang investigates and the usual weird things that you can expect happens: paintings of people seem to watch them wherever they go. Velma finds tiny little wrappings of foil, the kinds you use for chocolate bobons. Shaggy and Scoob get separated from the rest of the gang, they look out of the window and see a strange, almost invisible UFO in the sky. Things start to shake, they try to escape. Fred, Velma and Daphne gets out of the house, but where`s Scooby and Shaggy? The house collapses and the strange, almost invisible UFO in the sky disappears.
The gang is devastated. (They are being watched by a tiny little robot, hiding in a tree and Ms. Jaffe is nowhere to be seen.)
Act 2
Shaggy and Scooby wake up inside a futuristic airship, they realize that they are inside the Falcon Fury, Blue Falcon's plane. Blue Falcon, Dynomutt and Dee Dee Skyes show up to greet them.
They explain that they have been tracking a dangerous man named Dick Dastardly and have noticed that Dastardly has had his eye out for Scooby, so they figured that the best thing to do would be to keep Scooby away from him.
All at once, an alarm goes off in the ship alerting that Dick Dastardly and his ship, The Mean Machine, are close by.
Dastardly orders the robots, who he calls Rottens, to attack the Falcon Fury. He says that he was so close to catching Scooby at the house until it at fell apart (literally), but he won`t fail again! He will get back what he lost!
(Note: In my version Dastardly has a habit of eating small chocolate bonbons.)
The Mean Machine latches onto the Falcon Fury using harpoons and is about to drag it in when Dee Dee tells Dynomutt to send out the beam that sucked up Shaggy and Scooby, but to put it on the reverse setting, so that it pushes them away from the Mean Machine. This works, and they escape Dastardly and the Mean Machine for the time being.
Now that they are temporarily safe, Dynomutt, Blue Falcon, and Dee Dee explain to Shaggy and Scooby that Dastardly is collecting the skulls of Cerberus, although they still don't know what they have to do with Shaggy and Scooby. Dee Dee comes to the conclusion that Dastardly wants Shaggy and Scooby alive, as he could have killed them earlier instead of just trying to capture them. Blue Falcon says that Shaggy and Scooby are important, though they still don't know why, and that they'll need their help on their mission. Shaggy is, at first, reluctant to agree but realizes that he can use this opportunity to prove to himself, and that reporter who made him question himself, that he is important and useful!
Back at what`s left of the haunted house: Daphne, Velma and Fred are searching in the rubble after their friends, Fred gets a text message. It`s Shaggy! He and Scooby are still alive, thank goodness! He says that he is on an adventure with Blue Falcon and also adds that they should watch out for a guy named Dick Dastardly.
Velma does a little computer hacking and finds out that Dick owns Dastardly Demolitions. He`s also stolen the first skull of Cerberus and the genealogical records of many dogs. They decide to go after him and help Shaggy and Scooby. The tiny little robot that watched them earlier is now hiding in their van.
Inside of the Mean Machine: Dastardly is lamenting over the fact that Scooby got away. He becomes upset at the Rottens because, in his mind, they are not nearly as good as his last sidekick. One of the Rottens apologizes for their failure, but that only upsets him more. He calls him a "suck-up," and to prove a point to the other Rottens, he removes his head and replaces it with the top of a vacuum cleaner.
The Falcon Fury: Blue Falcon and Dee Dee are searching for the second skull by locating areas with high fossil density. Dynomutt, on the other hand, is trying to find the skull by asking people on social media where it is. Shaggy and Scooby come in, their hands full of food. Dynomutt just got a DM from "a very reliable anonymous source" that the skull is in an abandoned amusement park in Romania. Dee Dee and Blue Falcon, not being stupid, ignores this, but Shaggy thinks it`s worth looking into. Blue Falcon decides to go along with this idea, just so Dynomutt can see that blindly trusting people on social media is not a good idea.
Meanwhile, in the Mystery Machine: Velma reveals that by cross-matching the biographical data that Dastardly stole, she is able to determine that Scooby is the last descendant of Peritas, Alexander the Great's dog. Fred changes course, as he claims he "knows a shortcut."
The abandoned amusement park in Romania: As soon as they walk inside the park, the Mean Machine ascends from the sky. Dastardly and the Rottens fly down and Dastardly reveals that he was the one who sent Dynomutt the DM and that he has just retrieved the second skull. Dee Dee, Blue Falcon and Dynomutt fight the Rottens as Shaggy and Scooby look for a place to hide. The Rottens chase Shaggy and Scooby into an arcade, they play "whack-a-mole" with the Rottens, trying to destroy them. Dastardly breaks into the arcade and when Shaggy asks what he wants with him, Dastardly reveals that Shaggy isn't important at all and that he only wants Scooby. He shoots Shaggy out of the arcade and he falls into a Ferris wheel seat where he is attacked by the Rottens but saved by Dee Dee.
Scooby escapes the arcade and runs into a house of mirrors, where Dastardly is waiting for him and tells him that if they join forces, he could make him "the most important dog in the world." He explains that Scooby is the key to something very important. Scooby refuses to help Dastardly and runs out of the house of mirrors, where more chaos is happening.
Dee Dee deploys the tractor beam, which pulls BF, Dynomutt, Shaggy and Scoob into the Falcon Fury. Dastardly is alerted by the Rotten in the Mystery Machine of the existence of Fred, Daphne, and Velma.
Scooby tells Dee Dee and BF what Dastardly told him. Dynomutt is shocked that an anonymous source on the internet could be so unreliable. Shaggy is disappointed in himself because he was the one who supported this idea. Scooby tries to comfort him.
Dastardly Demolitions (a factory in the middle of nowhere): Fred, Velma and Daphne have arrived and are looking for a way in. Velma finds finds little candy wrappings made out of foil on the ground. Suddenly a car shows up, it`s Ms. Jaffe. She wanted to make sure that they were OK and wonders if she can be of any help. Velma is not fooled by her act.
First of all: the "old house that belonged to her grandfather" may have looked old but she noticed some details that proved that it was built only a few days ago.
Second: In the old house she found some chocolate bonbon wrappings of the same brand the she found just now on the ground, a rare brand that is not sold in many places.
Velma: "You work for Dick Dastardly, don`t you?"
Ms. Jaffe (in Dick Dastradly`s voice): "Oh well, I guess the jig is up" (Takes off disguise.)
(When he reveals himself the gang reacts in surprise, not fear and disgust.)
Velma: "That... was my second guess."
Dastardly deploys his Rottens to pull Velma, Fred, and Daphne up into the Mean Machine and locks them in a cell.
Dusty, the Rotten with the vacuum head, walks by their cell. Daphne persuades him to let them out of the cage after cleaning out the dust in his head. They creep to the center of the Mean Machine, where they spy on Dastardly, who is using the two skulls of Cerberus to reveal that the third is hidden in a place called Messick Mountain. Dusty points them to a room with a communications device. Velma hacks into Dynomutt, telling Dee Dee that the third skull is at Messick Mountain. In the room, they find a pinboard, revealing Dastardly's plans for Scooby. They learn that Scooby, being the descendant of Peritas, is the only one who can open up the gates to the Underworld, where Alexander the Great hid his treasure. They also find a display shelf of Muttley's things.
Dastardly breaks in, catching them. When asked about Muttley he gets furious and tells them it`s none of their business. The Rottens then come in to take away Velma and Daphne, but Dastardly keeps Fred as he has "big plans" for him.
Messick Mountain: The Falcon Fury arrives at Messick Mountain, which turns out to have a Mesozoic ecosystem. Shaggy, feeling that he only screws things up, decides to wait by the ship. While investigating the landscape, Blue Falcon and Scooby run into Captain Caveman, the protector of the third skull. He takes them to an arena, filled with other cavepeople, to get the skull, they must defeat him in battle.
Fred, shows up to the Falcon Fury, alone in the Mystery Machine. He tells Shaggy that they need to go to Scooby, as he's in great danger.
Captain Caveman battles Scooby and Blue Falcon. Dee Dee and Dynomutt show up to help and defeat Captain Caveman. Fred and Shaggy show up in the Mystery Machine. Fred reveals that he`s actually Dastardly in disguise. The Mean Machine appears overhead and Velma, Daphne, and the real Fred are thrown overboard, although they are caught by the crew of the Falcon Fury. Dastardly kidnaps Scooby and escapes with him and the third skull on the Mean Machine. The gang and the Falcon Fury crew head back to the ship, only to find that it has been destroyed by Dastardly.
Shaggy says that he may mess up and fail at a lot of stuff. But today he won`t fail his best friend Scoob!
Inspired by his determination the rest of the mystery gang and the Falcon Fury crew start to build something from the wreck of the Falcon Fury.
Act 3
The Parthenon in Athens, Greece: Dastardly ascends with the three skulls and Scooby. He connects the skulls which generates the gates to the Underworld and turns the sky dark. Suddenly, the Mystery Machine appears in the sky, having been transformed to have wings and jets. Dastardly orders for it to be shot down, but Dusty purposely misfires so that Daphne's life is saved. However, the Mystery Machine still falls to the ground, it's wings being shot off.
Dastardly forces Scooby's paw upon the lock of the gates, opening them up. Cerberus appears at the gates, something Dastardly was not expecting. Cerberus runs out, creating enough commotion for Scooby to run off to the Mystery Machine. The gang is finally reunited! Dastardly goes into the Underworld, where he finds his old sidekick Muttley! He gets a flashback to the day when he first opened the portal and convinced Muttley to go through it. The portal closed and Muttley was stuck in the Underworld. They rejoice at seeing each other, grab as much treasure as they can carry, and leave through the portal.
The gang and the Falcon Fury crew begin attacking Cerberus. The Rottens, at the command of Dusty, deploy themselves, deciding to help the gang instead of Dastardly.
Shaggy and Scooby, with help from the Rottens, manage to trick Cerberus to go back to the Underworld. The portal is closing, if they don`t hurry they`ll be stuck in the Underworld forever! Shaggy and Scooby run as fast as they can with Cerberus chasing them and they make it just as the portal closes!
The Rottens, now good, capture Muttley and Dastardly and bring them to the gang, all tied up. Fred wants to see "who is hiding behind the mask" and starts to pull on Dastradly`s face.
Dastardly: "Ow! Stop it you moron! This is my real face!"
Fred: "Oh! Sorry! Old habit."
Dastardly yells that "he would have gotten away with it if it hadn`t been for those meddling kids!" The Falcon Fury crew take him and Muttley away.
Back at Venice Beach, the gang has an opening ceremony for their new base. The Falcon Fury crew shows up and Blue Falcon gives Fred a new, updated version of the Mystery Machine, as the old one was destroyed. Mystery Inc. gets a call that tells them that there have been sightings of a phantom tuna trawler and the ghost of a sea captain. The gang heads off in a haste, to pursue new mysteries!
And that`s how I would do it.
This little rewrite ended up longer than I had anticipated.
To be completely honest: I didn`t quite remember all the details of what happened in Scoob! so I went to Scoobypedia to refresh my memory and ended up copy pasting a lot of the synopsis into my editorial. I removed things that were unnecessary, like Scooby and Shaggy`s forced break up and Blue Falcon`s character arc (because this is not his movie.)
It is of course very easy for me to write these because I have the luxury of hindsight. And unlike the filmmakers I didn`t have a movie studio breathing down my neck, focus grouping the movie to death, forcing in unnecessary changes and pressuring me to get it made before a deadline.
Why do I write these?
For several reasons. I`m nitpicky, sometimes the movies I criticize aren`t bad, I just like my own ideas better, sometimes the movies I critize are bad, I care about good storytelling and it`s a fun excerize in creativity and script doctoring.
But also because I have a lot of of free time.

Warner Bros. parodies Holmes
Tumblr media
I had almost forgotten about this 1956 parody of Sherlock Holmes that Chuck Jones directed for Warner Bros. I'm sure this is one of the earliest Sherlock Holmes parodies I ever saw (either this one, or Sherlock Hemlock from Sesame St.).
Daffy Duck is Dorlock Holmes, and Porky Pig is Mr. Watkins. The two live on Beeker St. in London (at No. 221 ⁷⁄₁₆). When we first see Mr. Holmes, he is working on his (tax) deductions. Eventually he tackles the Shropshire Slasher, with predictably hilarious results. (Especially the way Daffy says "Shropshire Slasher"...)

I've watched a lot of the old cartoons
Honestly, if I had to make a Looney Tunes Suburban show I wouldn't pair Bugs and Daffy but Daffy and Porky.
Daffy would be a divorced dad as a reference to that one cartoon where he's watching his unhatched child but struggles to stay on task and not be random, and accidentally makes the egg vanish with a magic trick and can't bring it back until the end when he's in divorce court.
Bugs meanwhile can be the neighbor Daffy has a nonsensical vendetta against.
I dunno, making Bugs a full-on straight man to Daffy's antics made him so...boring. It made the episodes I saw not work for me.
