OKAY sooo here’s the thing. It’s fuckin Ryomen my guy. Love languages almost require conscious acts of love, or to at least ya know admit you’re in love. In that sense, Ryomen doesn’t have a love language; he actively mocks the concept of “love languages” as humans refusing to accept the fact that their emotions are all just chemical reactions in their brain designed to make them want to fuck.

That being said, it's Quality Time. 

Ryomen’s love is always quiet. It’s him sitting in the same room as you while you read, casually talking with you while you do chores, or insisting on being in the garden while you tend to it because “It’s my (his) garden, I’ll be here if I want! Don’t think I’m here for you.” He absolutely is there for you.

His biggest act of love is letting you sleep in his room with him. That's quality time by definition my guy.

He genuinely gets so jealous when you spend time with other people because that's how he defines love. It's the person you want to spend time with (Don’t ask him about it, he won’t admit it) so you spending time with other people means you love them. And he can not handle the idea of you loving anyone that’s not him.

Remember when I said Satoru was like a cat? I take it back, Sukuna is like a cat. He wants to be in the same room as you but the last thing he wants is to be perceived by you.

He just wants to watch you read your book and not be grilled as to why he insists on being with you all the time. He’s clearly just, uh…enjoying the fireplace! Duh! Foolish mortal, why would he vie for your affections?...so, uh..whatcha reading?

He will never admit it, but his favorite thing in the world is to sit in the garden with you, listening to you talk about flowers while he pretends not to care.

This is followed closely by holding your close to him at night, whispering words of affirmation to you you will never hear when awake. 

I think that spending quality time with you is the only way Sukuna knows how to show love. I think he often gets overwhelmed by physical affection. He’s not used to it, and he didn’t immediately take to it the way Gojo did. Words of affirmation are out because he’s not a wordsmith unless he’s making threats. Can’t do acts of service because his ego would never let him do a favor for anyone else, and he can’t find any gifts that feel worthy of you- none of them feel right. So, Quality time it is.

Words may fail him, but he’s aware of how he feels. And the soft intimacy of listening to your favorite music with you, watching you hum along and dance makes him feel so viscerally raw, that it’s almost enough to make him admit there maybe more to love than just chemicals making you want to fuck.

I think the reason I can tolerate a lot more bad Ninjago writing than I can, say, Chima or Nexo Knights, is because at the very least I know all the Ninjago writing isn't as cheesy or corny as the others, and that's because with Ninjago they didn't at any point (aside from the Dreamzzz crossover which... yeah you see where it went wrong) let Tommy have much creative freedom writing-wise.

Hell, if you told me TOMMY wrote season 7, I'd believe it, 100000%...

At first I’d thought Leyla’s was cold, but I’ve watched the episode again and while I still think she could have even touched Lauren’s hand reassuringly at some point, I now see professionalism instead of coldness. What you said about the benefit of the doubt is perfect, because I have no doubt that she did comfort Lauren. We’ve seen her do that time and time again, there’s no reason to believe she wouldn’t here. Wish we’d seen it, but ah well. I still have issues with how this episode played out, relating to Jeannie and Lauren being the one to apologize, and with having looked around a bit online, I think her lashing out at Lauren (and Leyla not defending her)and then Lauren being the one to apologize is what bothers a lot of people which again, is something I think could have worked better with a scene between Lauren and Leyla at the end.

valid point there. i think leyla's little head tilt and soft look that she shot at lauren when she walked up during their last scene was kind of that nonverbal, 'how are you' checking in. and had lauren responded with some vulnerability there, i think leyla would have taken a gentler approach but she brought up how her mom has fooled people before so leyla shouldn't feel bad about getting the wool pulled over her eyes and thus leyla picks the tactic she did. but again, a little hand touch, maybe even after they figure out it's endometriosis, would have added to the scene without taking away from the point.

yeah i also wouldn't have minded a final scene between lauren and leyla to bring the story to a close but they probably wanted to focus on lauren and jeanie since that was the heart of the bloom storyline in this episode. plus they jam packed so much into this one it was probably a fight for screentime lmao. as for leyla staying silent during the fight, they were throwing out haymakers of harsh and personal things so idk if i can blame her for being frozen in that moment.

honestly they should have condensed max's storyline and maybe even floyd's to focus more on helen's and lauren's given the episode title and that they were both exploring the complicated feelings and impact their parents left on them. that being said, the criticism around lauren and jeanie's final scene is 100000% something you will not find me disputing. i completely agree that they should have gone more into the conversation about the past and had jeanie take some steps towards owning up to the trauma she inflicted on her kids, lauren in particular. canonically since she has memory loss due to the drinking, she's kind of just absolved herself of her past wrong doings and that's not fair to lauren who doesn't have that luxury. it's especially a missed opportunity since we see jeanie's character so infrequently.

the worst, in my humble opinion, being the bts treatment of the (very few) actors of color, and the lack altogether of any production team members of color. that’s something that should be acknowledged, talked about, and fucking dug into especially at the current fucking period of time we’re living in. it’s unsurprising, but disgusting nonetheless, and it set this movie up for failure from the very beginning. i’m a white person so by no means so i feel inclined or like i have any authority in saying what one should feel wrt all of that, however i will say if there’s to be a boycott in not watching this movie, that should 100% be the reason why. it’s fully poc’s choice whether or not to forgive the production team or give this movie a chance for the irredeemable shit it did in regards to handling the movie’s production. the movie imo definitely doesn’t deserve their forgiveness, but again, that is not for me to say.

connor. the thing about a trailer is that they don’t show you all the scenes because they want you to come see the movie. right? can we agree on that? all the connor scenes in the trailer had SEVERAL hard cuts, omitting a lot of the scene -- like the computer lab scene! we see the beginning of it, there’s a VERY obvious hard cut, and then he’s running out! in my opinion my first watch through of this trailer i had a very like “:// hmm all these actors feel a lil like dry”, but man oh man the comments ive seen about connor. holy shit guys. this boy gets 7 minutes of stage time in the actual musical, and the whole thing is we DON’T KNOW VERY MUCH ABOUT HIM. not to burst your bubble, and i by no means hate connor, i love me some good connor lives fics and stuff, but everything we write with connor being alive? that is !! speculation on our part !!!! those are headcanons and us using the little context we have!! connor doesn’t have any significant development IN THE SOURCE MATERIAL that is being adapted into a movie !!! you 1. can’t fully judge a character with already limited screentime in a 3 minute trailer, 2. can’t really call what connor has canonically in the musical as in depth character development !! what is his arc then !!!! he pushes evan, goes to the computer lab, has an outcast loner kid moment, gets upset, takes the letter, DIES. sorry stans, that’s just how it is !! and, AND, everything in between, all the idiosyncracies, that depends on the actor playing connor! speaking of, you know who the actor is playing connor in the movie? that’s right, colton ryan! so, i don’t know, maybe... have some trust in the process, in an actor who ALREADY has played connor on broadway???? and also trust that you will get more connor content then u are seeing from a 3 minute trailer!! dhgnijsdg and some of the comments on like his appearance specifically? like are you really made that he doesn’t have long hair?? they kept his nails and his rings but nahhh the hair was apparently a MUST HAVE (even though like.. not all connor actors on broadway always had/have long hair but w/e).. REGARDLESS. tldr on THAT , the movie would have to do a pretty shitty job if they want to take something from someone who doesn’t have much to begin with and i think y’all are being extremely harsh on this point 

jared. honestly i’m a bit worried too about the like... name change, because it does have the potential to be taking out some representation, but... they did change the name to fit the actor’s ethnicity? it’s a really [hmm] topic because, again, from a trailer and from what we have been told we don’t KNOW a lot of the context, but i think it’s important to remember that uh.. jewish people aren’t just? always white ?? there’s a possibility they changed the last name to fit with the [ethnicity] while keeping him jewish?? ofc there’s the possibility that they Didn’t and ... again hm that’s its own thing altogether but just reiterates the point that you can’t knock a whole movie just based on the trailer. you can’t talk about things you know nothing about. 

alana. same thing as before, you can’t.... completely bash a character based on a 3 minute trailer. there was discussion about how she seemed ‘shy’ when talking to evan, which like.. maybe she is but also that scene was them talking in a library like if u actually take notice of what’s happening in the scene jdskngsd though i do share the general consensus with many others that she won’t get a lot of screen-time but that’s neither here nor there 😔 moving on

scenes and the setting. one of the things i was most like.. tentative about in regards to a switch from a musical to a movie was how they were like... going to do certain scenes? naturally, a lot has to be different when we’re going from a minimal stage set to an entire movie with like.. settings. there are going to be new scenes because a movie lends to have like, physical places that aren’t just [evan’s bedroom] and [murphy kitchen] and [implied school]. so new scenes, new conversations, slightly different pacing.. this is all to be expected right like are y’all geneuinely surprised here or ........

there’s a lot we aren’t seeing yet because this is a TRAILER. again i already mentioned this re: connor but like... again, y’all are making some Claims that just... fucking outlandish. there are so many moments in the trailer that are very obvious Hard Cuts. you don’t have all the information yet. you are angry at a tiny fragment of something that is confusing you because you don’t have all the context. is there a chance that some of this shit is just genuinely Bad? yeah but you really cannot 100000% say it with your chest and gauge it without seeing the movie and understanding what that scene is in context. lowkey uhhh saw some jokes about the zoe scene in the car and :’))) ? jesus? christ????

concluding thoughts because my brain hurts but like. you don’t have to like the movie. you don’t have to WATCH the movie. like all media if you choose to consume the movie you should do so with some CRITICAL THOUGHT. but, just like the novel (and i do not want to have any discussions about that i don’t care if you think it’s good Or bad that’s not what this is about) you guys are going in this WANTING to believe it’s bad and completely polarizing your thoughts on what this is going to be. yeah, maybe there shouldn’t be a movie. i genuinely think we could’ve gone without. but it’s just a piece of media, it’s not a progression like all your (musical is good, novel is bad, MOVIE IS WORSE OH NO) posts are suggesting. they are all just. different pieces of media stemming from a source. at the end of the day it’s just a fucking movie. if you already hate it so much, guess what? you don’t have to watch it! you don’t have to put so much needless fucking hate into a 3 MINUTE TRAILER. you can stop being performative and dissing it for its poor treatment of POC while then going on to make fun of ben platt’s hair and just targeting a different group like! please !!!

why you should read haikyuu!! (no spoilers)

as an sns-focused blog, i’m going to frame this through the lens of sns/naruto (the series) because the fact is that i finally, finally picked up haikyuu because i read something posted by someone on tumblr or twitter saying ‘hinata and kageyama are basically just naruto and sasuke in high school’.

which is true but mostly false BUT i am so glad i gave it a chance when even my best friend pestering me couldn’t get me to watch/read it (she doesn’t watch naruto so i didn’t trust her lmao). 

the reason i’m so hesitant to start on new manga is because i’m extremely picky with the type of shonen manga i read. 9/10 times i’m just disappointed with the art style, plot, storyline progression, etc. this is also the reason why i reread and rewatch naruto for the nth time because i just cannot get into anything else.

enter haikyuu. haikyuu is truly what a shonen manga is imo - one that revolves around friendship and rivalry with a single key person and overcoming adversities to become the best. compare this to naruto which is a love story because i still cannot believe that it is a shonen manga because it’s not (naruto’s focus on sasuke is not normal or platonic lol. it can’t be. i refuse).

1. character development and world building

the characterizations are really good and they don’t go obsessively deep about people or a single character - hinata’s rivalry with kageyama is clear but it is not the basis of the entire plot. there are no real ‘villains’ too, even if the other team is the opponent. the way things are written makes you root for everyone involved (unlike naruto because there are many characters that i absolutely cannot stand. in haikyu i either like them or can’t remember them because there’s so...many...players.)

furudate’s strength is making you connect with the characters. 

the most refreshing thing is that the world building is good (volleyball is super interesting) but not fraught with things that are uncomfortable, like naruto and its politics and how some people absolutely lose all critical thinking skills when it comes to examining things like fascism and genocide. haikyuu is so much more lighthearted and because of this, it’s a lot of fun.

2. hinata and kageyama’s bond

this is one of my favourite things and it’s so SO refreshing compared to naruto and sasuke’s relationship. hinata and kageyama are introduced as rivals and hinata doesn’t fixate over kageyama - his main goal is to the best volleyball player. in naruto, the narrative is set up as naruto’s desire to be acknowledged and become hokage, but there is a disconnect because the plot is driven by sasuke and his actions. 

i watch naruto for sasuke so i absolutely have no issue with it but when the second character becomes more important than your titular character, something has gone wrong in your plotting/writing.

but there is no escaping that there are similarities: hinata’s name means sun and kageyama’s name means shadow. their character designs and colors are in direct contrast as well (tall and short, bright and dark hair).

3. tsukishima

give me an aloof, quiet character with brother issues, who finds himself changing due to the influence of the protagonist and I AM SOLD. add in moon symbolisms and i am crying because you are now my favorite character. 

4. nostalgia 

the best thing is the nostalgia i think! pretty sure everyone reading this has gone to high school. most people have (or were forced to) participate in some sort of sport. everyone has had dreams and in high school, the world outside seems impossibly big and anything and everything is possible. haikyuu really plays into this and it is absolutely hopeful and inspiring it is. 

it also reminds me how naive and flawed this thinking is because life will not go the way you want to, just because you really truly want something and work hard for it. of course, as a children’s manga, it doesn’t linger on the negative aspects of growing up but seeing something so hopeful and happy really highlights the stark reality of adult lives. and i honestly love how introspective it makes me. 

5. furudate’s art style

the manga is 100000% better than the anime because we get furudate’s art style which is insanely good because you can really sense the speed and motion and excitement of the volleyball. 

more importantly are the little tiny details he adds into little frames. it builds so much more character and i’m slowly getting through the anime because the volleyball parts are much better animated and the OPs are hype but the pacing is really off and i don’t think the voice casting is as good as naruto’s. 

6. the importance of a strong opening 

the first chapter made me cry, with hinata’s enthusiasm and lack of support and him still finding his way around it to make things work as best as he can. it’s incredibly earnest and just so pure.

naruto didn’t do this for me tbh, and it was only sasuke’s introduction that hooked me. the closest feeling i’ve come across in the introduction of a story from another form of media is the kdrama vagabond. no other opening has hit me as hard with this sense of warmth and purity (12/10 would recommend. it’s on netflix!)

7. stand-out characters

hinata - my big hearted sunshine boy. best protagonist ever thank u for existing

kageyama - the way to my heart: a boy with dark hair and dark eyes. his growth is so so good

tsukishima - moon. background and character growth. i love his attitude

yamaguchi - i scream whenever he steps onto court. pure and sweet

basically everyone on the karasuno team

kenma - basically me irl

oikawa - “i hope they both lose” truly the single best sentence ever given to a character

miya twins - they’re drawn so beautifully?? and great chaotic energy

if you’ve read all the way here, you’re the best and take it as a sign you start haikyuu :)

the glo up from revival to this....... going from wondering “maybe i should be more like her” in perfect to shouting “i’m not gonna beg for you, i’m not gonna let you make me cry, not getting enough from you, didn’t you know i’m hard to find?” we love a liberated queen so much

this is super fun and great but i played the shit out of the demo in 2018 which makes it feel a lil less exciting. i should have waited rip. still love it tho.

actually, almost a return to stars dance at moments???? in a way more mature, fully realized way... which is so cool when the whole theme of the album and its imagery seems to be looking back at your past self and celebrating yourself for overcoming so much, and also, like she said taylor told her, reclaiming the happiness that has been taken from you and letting yourself return to a happier version of yourself, the truest version of yourself that wasn’t being pulled down and abused. like stars dance was her big dance edm record and i know it’s not a celebrated work of hers lol but there is so much beauty in making a song that says “feels so good to dance again” and going back to that sound for 1 song, remembering what it’s like to feel light, to just dance.

i think what i love so much about this era, about the things that she’s saying in interviews, about the messages she’s sharing in these lyrics so far, is like... not apologizing to her abuser, not making excuses for him, not letting his actions destroy her confidence. comparing the lyrics of revival to this, it’s so clear that there’s been such a change in mentality, such a maturing process, that revival was very much still in the midst of it all and that it’s finally over now. no “i’ll always have love for him,” no “everything happens for a reason,” no “i miss you,” no “what did i do wrong?” there is SO much strength in saying “actually, you know what i really didn’t deserve that and i do not love you anymore and losing you is the best thing that ever happened to me” and simply leaving it at that. forgiveness and love is NOT always essential to moving on!! sometimes that chronic forgiveness is just detrimental and the best thing u can do for yourself is say “FUCK YOU” and leave.

tbh i don’t really love the chorus except for the “oo-oo-oo-oo” part at the end but it works with the song and is something i’ll love with time

ok so like, I don't watch Mayans but i see gifs of it on your blog and now i'm mildly invested in the storyline and need some ANSWERS. So weren't goatee man and blondie (she wasn't always blonde tho) a thing at some point but then goatee was sent to prison and blondie was pregnant with his baby? and now blondie is married to some other man?? Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome forehead-kisser? What happened to goatee man's baby?? How'd he escape prison?? Who's this new man??

first off, let me just say your message had me ROLLING. these descriptions are on point lmao. i’ll try to give you a basic run down, but really, if you can i’d 100000% recommend watching the show because it’s A+++. 

goatee man (ez reyes) and blondie who wasn’t always blonde (emily thomas) were high school sweethearts basically. goatee man was sent to prison for killing a cop and yes blondie was pregnant with his baby. you don’t see much from the flashbacks they provide, but basically goatee man stopped answering blondie’s calls, letters, etc. while he was in prison because he was looking at such a long prison sentence and he didn’t want to hold out hope for a future with her. 

when blondie is visiting him in prison, all of this is revealed. and blondie basically tells him that since he made the decision to end things with her all on his own, she slaps the ultrasound picture of their baby on the table and is all like ‘now i’m going to decide what to do about this on my own’. so she runs off and gets an abortion. 

while goatee man is in prison, blondie moves on and does her own thing. i’m not entirely positive where and when she met mr. tall dark and handsome forehead kisser (miguel galindo). part of me wants to say they met while they were both studying @ an ivy league but he appears to be significantly older than her so i could be wrong and absolutely making this up in my head lmao. we don’t know many of the details surrounding their relationship, but we are introduced to them in season 1 as already being married. it’s also important to mention that blondie and mr. tall dark and handsome have a son together named cristobal who becomes sort of a plot device in the first season. 

goatee man eventually gets out of prison under the conditions he makes a deal with some very important people in law enforcement in exchange for a favor. i’m not going to go into extensive detail about that because a lot happens in regards to this throughout the course of the first season so it’s pretty complicated. but at the end of season 1 you basically see the deal he made “wiped clean” and he’s a free man. supposedly...

i’m not sure who this ‘new man’ is that you speak of, unless you’re referring back to mr. tall dark and handsome? if so, he is a mexican cartel boss and basically runs a lot of shit lol.

My Year With EXO

It has officially been a year since I started listening to EXO. It actually was around this time so why not talk about it?!

How It All Started

I was listening to my playlist on shuffle mode and after my playlist was done it played me a random song. It didn’t sound bad so I let it play and by the end of it I was googling who Exo was. 

Lotto was the first song from Exo that I listened to and it was on repeat for days. What sucked was that now I had a favorite song but I had no faces to put onto the beautiful voices that I was listening to.

This lead me to go onto YouTube and when I typed EXO into the search bar the first video that popped up was their “Monster” MV. It was too much beauty to handle. There should’ve been a warning sign that popped up before the video to tell me that I was about to see the most handsome men in the world lmao.

It was weird for me to see “older” idols because I had just recently gotten into kpop thanks to BTS. With BTS they are younger than EXO so me getting into Exo which were these “older” idols was weird but eventually I got used to it. 

(Especially since I eventually discovered the grandpas of Kpop which are Bigbang, Sechskies and SJ)

I never thought I would end up crushing on D.O. Not because he is ugly or anything cause he is 100000% attractive but to me he was always the cute type. You know the cute small penguin that would never do anything wrong.

I told myself when I first started listening to Exo that I was only going to listen to them because of their music. No getting to know the members, no getting attached to certain members, I wasn’t going to follow them on instagram or twitter. That of course failed because now I can tell them apart by just looking at their eyebrows.

- The first Exo MV that I watched was Monster so I knew there was 9 members but I was confused as to why in the KoKoBop MV Lay wasn’t in it. Of course the first thing that popped into my head was “Oh he must’ve left the group.” But then I found out that he was doing his own thing in China so that helped clear up the confusion.

- I didn’t know Exo originally had 12 members but that was cleared up pretty quickly after I figured out that 3 members had left the group.

- Fun Fact: I am 100% sure that if I had known about Exo when they were ot12, I am pretty sure Tao would’ve been my bias. He is underrated and if you haven't listened to his songs you should cause they are amazing.

- I was so lost with this. I knew Exo as Exo. I didn’t know who or what was Exo - K & Exo - M. I really did think they were two separate groups. (They kinda were but w.e) I went to google for help but nothing appeared. When I found out about Exo - L I thought that was another group but no, it was the fandom name lmao. Thankfully slowley everything started to make sense once I started finding out more and more about them.

I waited so long for a comeback. DMUMT was my first comeback with them and it didn’t disappoint. (Aside from the lack of promotions *Cough* SM *Cough*)

Its been amazing seeing them get known more and more around the world. It truly makes me feel happy like an old proud mom. They have been through so much as a group and as individuals that I’m glad that they are finally at the place they deserve to be in which is the top. Of course as Exo-L’s we gotta make sure that they climb even higher. I hope to see them grow more as a group and as artists in the future. We gotta break records and keep streaming their songs.

As for SM, they better treat them right and stop cutting their promotions. 

All in all its been an amazing year with Exo.
