Ways Of Word on Legacy MineTest fulfils its further promise of testing its smaller map / realm, referred to as "32 Bit", on a low-end Linux system and (as predicted) it works, seamlessly! It is pleasing to have two somewhat different versions of the creative writing adventure map out there, where owners of low-end (or high-end) systems can journey and write within this 3D fantasy blocky-world. To access the Ways Of Word map, one only has to unzip the (no-binary / .EXE absent) .ZIP file and transfer its contents into the respective "Worlds" & "Mods" MineTest game folder. PS. The larger Ways Of Word map / realm called "64 Bit" is also available as a separate download without any binary / .EXE. I have two central aims. 1). to create the very 1st extensive prose & poetry blocky world online and to achieve this aim MineTest outstripped MineCraft in its in-game assets. 2). To make this blocky prose map / realm a possibility for use on all post-Windows Vista operating systems, so that persons of the lowest income bracket could achieve in-game creative writing.

So, if the teacher / trainer were to suggest a writing concept using this blocky world tool that every teenager+ would be able to travel the fantasy world without it crashing. To this end I created two maps on MineTest 5.4.1, one in “32 Bit” (lowest system demands) and one in “64 Bit” (normal system demands). Each realm maintained core Ways Of Word venues and operate as single-player clone downloads.

Going forward, my own personal interest is seeing what prose students of English as a second language may write. Speaking as a qualified nurse, I know that creative writing is therapeutic and MineTest affords the opportunity for anyone to escape the horrors of their stress and be free to write within a 3D writing environment. [ http://www.wow.irish/ ] This Ways Of Word free-will, creative writing project is an off-shoot development of a 4 year long endurance saga and is, here, a 3D building project for different wordy dimensions offering diversion and stress relief. Writing is good at redirecting taxing emotions. Try it yourself!

What is it, exactly?

A map. You w'ot? A 3D legacy MineTest 5.4.1 blocky-game adventure realm, where players / gamers are tasked with:-

walking, swimming, climbing, jumping and teleporting [flight with helicopters is permitted] across this super-large build with one purpose in mind - to write creatively and screen-shoot one's poems, prose and short stories unto Ways Of Word social media hubs, or alternatively email these micro-prose written works to Ways Of Word via the website. [ https://www.waysofword.org ].

Why the .org?

Organisation? Well, independent, grass-roots and not-for-profit with education within its mandate. Also, the project wants to standby the originator creation MineTest's principles of openness and freedom-to-use gaming. WOW also wishes to be accessible by persons of less privilege and developing nations' authors / gamers. With this in mind, from the start of the idea, the game / map was consciously built using 12+ year old computer systems x3. Ways Of Word can, most definitely, be played on the most ancient 4 GB of RAM, 64 bit systems. Admittedly, some will still therefore be excluded. Apologies to their good selves! The reason why I could not take it down to 2 GB of RAM and 32 bit systems was that I did try and it failed. My creation became too big (ultimately at a .zip download of 1.6 GB - unzipping into approximately 2.5 GB) but the game did remain stable on the 64 bit systems. Actually, this Ways Of Word Version 1.0 Riverbank Edition is not the first iteration of the concept. The first was a completed adventure map on Minecraft Nintendo Edition on console 2DS XL. Alas, that version was un-shareable due to system's designed security locks. The joy of this MineTest version is that MineTest is an Opensource, volunteer gift to society and does not operate punitively towards persons of lesser means. MineTest is free and so is this large map.

You have a real passion for this avant-garde concept...

I do! The reason why I am so interested is that I robustly take the view that writing is human and an inner journey that people who learn written language can embark upon and achieve and benefit from and not using AI - something about the thinking and feeling part of writing is somehow cleansing. But, in an age of racing T_K-T_K & Re_l videos and social media in general, writing, and moreover, thinking before writing is much less experienced. This is a key reason why I have created this unique blocky-game realm / map which has the sole aim at its core of encouraging actual reflection and writing directly within a 3D fantasy world, and I believe a 1st for online e-publishing.

So, if anyone was looking… yes it was noticed! The " http://www.waysofword.com " domain went down two days ago, while (not) resolving to its host (the below) crikey.50megs.com server. This host has been a miniature lion for 20 years for CrikeyEnglish | McNeillServices | English-VC related projects, and until today, was the settled home for the Creative English, writing-within-a-3D-realm on MineTest 5.4.1, free and free-will project called - WaysOfWord | Ways Of Word.

Why did it go offline?

It went offline due consuming its monthly assigned quota of bandwidth within 3 days of announcing the actually completed version of Ways Of Word - Version 1.0 RIVERBANK Edition. It seems the idea is striking a chord with people and, therefore, a solution has now been evoked, namely :- " https://www.waysofword.org "

The error of insufficiency of bandwidth has been permanently rectified as the new server, serving as host to - WaysOfWord.org has zero restrictions and should work seamlessly. The new website is a true reflection of the original - WaysOfWord domain, both in simple, cheerful style and manner of use.

So, happy writing and 'screen-shooting' your creative prose, poems and short stories for sharing within the Ways Of Word online community. :)
