Since I haven’t seen anyone bring it up yet, they actually changed this in the graphic novels so that it’s her choice to become a medicine cat! They even directly bring up Deadfoot as proof that she could still be a warrior (apologies for my crappy photos lol)

There’s a lot of things that the graphic novels change that I think make the first arc more solid, and this is definitely one of them!! I was so happy to see it happen!

weird as hell that cinderpelt is denied becoming a warrior after her leg got mangled on the exact same book that deadfoot is introduced. do you think she was pissed as hell when she found out that another three-legged cat is the deputy of windclan

Honestly Sandpaw was pretty funny in Fire and Ice. Basically half of the time when she showed up it was to flirt with oblivious Fireheart who hasn't realized due to being focused on his own problems like Graystripe spending all his time with Miss RiverClan, Cinderpaw's injury, and spending time with Princess to alleviate feeling like an outsider in the Clan. The other half of the time she's leaving Dustpaw hanging when he tries to set up a mean joke at Fireheart's expense and Sandpaw is too busy staring into Fireheart's eyes to notice or respond I guess. And then it gets to the point Dustpaw has to settle for hanging out with Longtail.

Another Warrior Cats rarepair comic: PrincessXDustpelt <3

The more I think about them the more bummed I am it did not happen in canon. A grumpy character with a more naive and sweet one is already cute but extra layer of comedy when its making a former bully awkward in-laws with our poor protagonist. Also step-dad Dustpelt and Cloudkit interactions are funny to me as well since that little shit is my favorite character. <3

Other thoughts- Fireheart is so stressed and anxious durning this period of the series since he's already dealing with Tigerclaw being deputy and knowing his secret, plus Graystripe sneaking off to see Silverstream.

Personally a bit more of a sapphic Princess enjoyer myself (Sandstorm and/or Silverstream would be cute) but this would fix the Erin's 'Dustpelt didn't get a mate :( "'problem" without pairing him up with an apprentice. My HCs for them are trans man and bisexual Dustpelt and pansexual Princess.
