Poolverse!Protagonists: Sunflare, Poolmask, and Ryeseed!
For those who haven't been following me since I (tried) to get this kicking, Poolverse (formerly known as a new generation/actual name pending) is a nextgen AU revolving around an alternate AVOS cast. It's set in the aftermath of a very different OotS where the Clans decide to abolish the borders and attempt to live peacefully...to mixed results. This is a soft reboot of it!
(major changes + character bios under the cut)
Major Changes
Obviously, aforementioned abolishing of the borders, but also getting rid of certain parts of the code. Cross-clan relationships are now allowed as well as medic relations, though they still face stigma from other cats.
OotS is very different, with the Dark Forest successfully capturing ThunderClan and WindClan territory. The remaining Clan members banded together in ShadowClan and RiverClan territory and fought back, succeeding in defeating the Dark Forest but losing many lives in the process.
Brambleclaw fled the Clans after the battle, opting to live as a housecat instead. Squirrelflight left shortly after, having bonded with a familiar loner and opting to live outside the borders with him. She occasionally visits ThunderClan and meets with Leafpool often.
Hollyleaf, surviving her wounds, takes the mantle of leadership at Brambleclaw's request- much to some of the members of ThunderClan's dismay. Brightheart acts as her deputy but intends to retire once ThunderClan is more stable.
A new rank has been added: courier! These cats are responsible for delivering messages that need to be sent before the next gathering. Thought of by Heathertail when WindClan cats were ordered to deliver messages between bases during the Great Battle. The role has persisted on afterwards.
Sunflare (She/Her)
Clan: ThunderClan Rank: Warrior Brief Description: The product of a brief and tumultuous affair between Heathertail and Lionblaze during the Great Battle, Sunflare is a cool, calm and collected Warrior...for the most part. Sunflare takes quiet pride in her lineage, having been nursed with stories of prophecies and grand battles, she's well aware of her father's past reputation as an unstoppable Warrior who could take on countless warriors...and secretly wonders how she can get that power for herself.
Poolmask (He/They)
Clan: ThunderClan Rank: Medic-in-Training Brief Description: A serious no-nonsense Tom who often prefers to keep silent than speak. Poolmask has a strong sense of routine and order, liking things to be just as he would leave them. While formally admiring and respecting his mothers, he finds himself grappling with a strained relationship as he grows older and begins to learn that Hollystar has been hiding secrets from him.
Ryeseed (She/He/They)
Clan: ThunderClan Rank: Courier Brief Description: A playful, mischievous, and occasionally destructive cat. Ryeseed takes her father's dry humor and her mother's boisterous spirit in stride and can often be found playing pranks on other ThunderClan cats. One of the first of a new rank, courier, Ryeseed can often be seen bounding across the lake territories, and it is how she stumbles across a sign from StarClan warning her of what's to come.

Are you on Art Fight?
i’m not but i really want to join one of these years, it sounds SO fun. i might make it my goal to join next year
i only really have fandom ocs (frog/owl nextgen, mlp nextgen, and warriors), so it’d probably just be those, but i haven’t even made bios or posted any of em yet lmao so this year was out. plus everything is A Fucking Nightmare rn and i’m barely drawing even for myself, can’t imagine committing to smth like that atm
i’m concerned about lack of motivation for revenges bc if i’m not fixated on something i can’t draw it, but cats and ponies are easier for me there so maybe it’ll be fine. smth i could easily make a disclaimer about in my af bio regardless
anyway i’m rambling. tldr i’m not this year but i hope to be next year!! i just gotta get my shit together and start posting my ocs between now and then 😭

ITF M15 Bali (Dec 23) R1: Giles Hussey [2] def. Hyeon Chung [WC] 6-4, 6-4 Match Recap
Giles Hussey's point to break 1-0 (top left), Hyeon Chung's point to 2-1* 15-30 (top right), Giles Hussey's point to *4-4 30-30 (middle left), to break 5-4 (middle right), and to take the 1st set 6-4 (bottom) (📸 Crionet Sports Live)
The morning in Bali kicked off with a possibly intriguing first-round singles match between the inaugural NextGen Finals champion (2017) and the 2018 Australian Open semifinalist, Hyeon Chung, and second seed Giles Hussey. While this match appeared intriguing by its start, it all came down to the efficacy of H. Chung's service games toward the end of the match.
G. Hussey already asked the necessary question as he forced the deuce due to the South Korean wild card's +1 forehand error, where the former ended up breaking early to 1-0 after a forehand let cord moment. Consolidating his lead to 2-0 right after, the latter went on the board with a service game hold to 2-1 despite surviving an error that put the British second seed ahead by one point. However, another forehand let cord moment from H. Chung also put himself a point ahead before he broke back to 2-2. It took four more consecutive holds before G. Hussey smoothly struck H. Chung's defenses through a working lob to score another equalizer at the fourth point, somehow smoothly firing a forehand winner to break 5-4. As a result, the British second seed earned his chance to serve for the first set, which he sealed with an ace (6-4) as he tried to set the tone of this match.
Hyeon Chung's point to 1-0* 40-ad (latest break point, top left), to break 2-0 (top right), Giles Hussey's point to *2-0 40-ad (latest break point, bottom left), to *4-4 15-40 (bottom right), and to take the second set 6-4 (📸 🎥 Crionet Sports Live)
H. Chung then almost shifted the moment to start the second set after holding his serves to 1-0. After foiling G. Hussey's game point, he came up with a forehand winner to set up his latest break point before breaking to 2-0 thanks to his backhand pass only to have his game point foiled due to a forehand error before the British second seed broke back to 2-1 moments after his backhand winner generated his latest break point due to a double fault. G. Hussey then followed it up with a consolidation to 2-2, but this continued with several holding games despite H. Chung surviving several break points midway, mostly due to his +1 forehand error. Somehow, G. Hussey took advantage of H. Chung's erratic start, which became more evident from his higher ball toss but unfavorable contact point, where the former scored a fourth-shot forehand pass to create his break point, converting it to 5-4 right after. As a result, G. Hussey earned his chance to serve for the match, which he smoothly succeeded (6-4) to secure his spot in the next round.
In the second round later on, G. Hussey will face qualifier Hayato Matsuoka, who knocked out his fellow qualifier Junhyun Lee 6-3, 6-1 in the first round. It could still be challenging for the former to keep his range consistent, considering the pace could also determine how aggressive he could be and the adjustments he needs to make in this match. This might not be as easy as the paper suggests unless he completely locked himself in, but it makes another fun follow before the next season officially starts.

#highest #ranked #junior #players in #atp500 #PART2 #who from them will #improve the #most in #2021? By #Damiankust from #LWOS https://ift.tt/2Ld1Mzi ..

ATP Rotterdam, February 13, 2018 - Round 1: Filip Krajinovic (SRB) vs Felix Auger-Aliassime (CAN/WC)
The match I looked forward to: the debut of Felix Auger-Aliassime on the ATP Tour main draw stage. Just 17 years old, the Canadian played Filip Krajinovic, the Paris Rolex Masters 1000 finalist last year. It was an amazing match, with everything one could expect from the youngster: fearless in his shots, at times erratic and the early nerves. Felix has a huge forehand, solid double handed backhand and the ‘usual’ blistering 200 km/h serve that the ‘Nextgen players’ already tend to have. Felix is a rough diamond and his game reminds me a bit of Sasha Zverev a few years ago. Amazing winners followed by unforced errors. But that's OK, he’s got time.
Felix has a calm demeanour and opened the match with a 199 km/h ace. Filip’s level went up and down but he too produced some gorgeous winners at times. He’s worked hard to come back after serious injury. I’ve seen him twice now (both victorious) and Filip is no fluke. An amazing match to watch and I hope to see both again soon. Felix saved three breakpoints in the third set, one with a winner, a 203 km/h ace down the middle and a 205 km/h ace outward. Krajinovic however did take home the thriller win though.

Olbia Ch F: Martin Landaluce def. Mattia Bellucci [2/WC] 6-4, 6-4 Match Stats

📸 ATP official website
M. Landaluce indeed kept his level high considering what happened in his previous Challenger-level semifinals, going after M. Bellucci's baseline game until the latter lacked options to finish his shots. The Italian might have had fair chances in this match when he had several break points, but they were insufficient for him to shift the moment as M. Landaluce stayed solid with his aggression. As a result, the Spaniard converted 50% of his break points compared to M. Bellucci's non-conversion of his 3 break points.
Furthermore, M. Landaluce's solid play also continued through his service games. Despite scoring just one ace than M. Bellucci's 2, the Spaniard appeared more consistent as he won 77% of his first serve points, 5% more than M. Bellucci. Interestingly, even if he double-faulted twice, the Italian second seed's second serves appeared more vulnerable due to his rushed follow-ups, which faded to 48%, 24% lower than M. Landaluce throughout the match.
Marking M. Landaluce's maiden Challenger-level title of his career and becoming the fifth youngest Spaniard to win such titles apart from the game's greats such as Carlos Alcaraz, Rafael Nadal, Tommy Robredo, and Nicolas Almagro. Furthermore, this title put himself closer in the NextGen Finals race for the end of the year as he became number 8 there, increasing his likelihood to qualify for the tournament as a transition to the next season. However, M. Bellucci withdrew from the Brest Challenger upon his runner-up run, considering the noticeable bandaged thigh during the finals and all the tennis he played this week (including 2 marathon matches in the quarterfinals and semifinals), continuing his Top 100 push toward the end of this portion of the Asian swing. What a milestone, already.

NextGen Finals RR 🟥: Luca van Assche [2] def. Abdullah Shelbayh [8/WC] 4-3(5), 3-4(5), 4-1, 4-1 Match Stats

📸 Tennis TV
First parts of this match was return-heavy, but it might not be the case for the last two sets, where van Assche appeared firmer on serve. This was marked by Shelbayh's risky but aggressive approach, which allowed him to produce 28 winners but had 34 unforced errors (mostly from his forehand), while van Assche made 15 lesser unforced errors despite scoring just 17 winners. The margin also looked thin between both players, where for van Assche, making Shelbayh stay back could have been an interesting approach considering he won 8 more points from the baseline, but won 5 lesser points from the net than Shelbayh, and that was even if Shelbayh produced 7 more break points thanks to his defense-to-offense point construction at times, and van Assche converting 50% of them thanks to his first strikes in the last two sets.
Interestingly, Shelbayh appeared slightly solid on serve, but it was insufficient for him to stay in the match. Despite van Assche firing 23 unreturned serve and winning 45 serve points, slightly more than Shelbayh, Shelbayh still won 3% more points from his first serve and 5% more through the second serve, while both players, apparently, had second serve problems. Furthermore, van Assche scored 9 aces, 4 more than Shelbayh that could get him out of trouble outside of the said unreturned serves despite both players double-faulting three times, indicating van Assche excelling on serve under pressure that pressed Shelbayh's return side.
Interestingly, the Red Group also had players such as Alex Michelsen and Hamad Medjedovic, both of which had some explosive games when they are on (and their match is still ongoing as this was written), both of who could produce another high-level tennis, which could put both players' point construction and service game consistency into a test. This could be a fun ride where everything could happen in just one match!

a grownup ryepelt and poolmask encounter each other
[short little story under the cut]
Carefully, the tom grasped the dainty flower with his jaws, remembering what Leafpool had said about too much force. With the proper technique, the roots would soon be back in the Cleric’s den and put to work to help his clowder.
Poolmask had been eager to get out of the camp, the den a mess after a hurricane of kittens had snuck in to dare one another to eat something. While some herbs were salvageable, others were not, and Poolmask had been quick to volunteer to go get more to avoid another quarrel with Jayfeather on how the den should be organized.
He moved around the flower, careful not to rip the stem as he got himself into position. He balanced himself awkwardly over it, wanting things to be just right as he counted down to commence pulling the herb;
One.
He gripped his claws into the ground, grass peeking from between his toes.
Two.
The delicate flower pulled slightly in his direction as he figured out the best way to tug, the tom carefully not to rip it.
Thre-
A voice rang in his ear, breath on his cheek as someone spoke. “What’cha doing?” Poolmask squawked as he tugged back, the stem ripping as he stumbled backwards while the flower end hung limply from his jaws. Immediately he swung his head around, irritated that someone dared to interrupt his process of herb picking. His gaze landed on a golden tabby, annoyance growing immensely as he realized who it was that had disturbed him.
Ryepelt. Of course.
It wasn’t that he hated his cousin, no, it was more of a very strong dislike. She was loud, abrasive, and had a penchant for pulling pranks that, more often than not, he’d be the one cleaning up after. As he saw the look of amusement on her face, he knew right away that she had done that on purpose.
Immediately he turned his body away from her, making it very clear he wasn’t in the mood for her antics. He spat the flower out, ears pinned back as he was forced to squat further down to grasp the remaining stem.
“Aw, c’mon Pool, don’t be like that.” She cooed, prowling around to watch him. “I was just coming to see what you were doing! Thought it was real unlike you to leave Pa all alone to clean up the mess.”
I didn’t. Poolmask didn’t say anything out loud, not wanting to risk encouraging her attempts to talk to him. He repeated his steps and, with a bit of luck, pulled out the roots successfully. Pride welled up in his chest and he turned from Ryepelt, moving to where he’d stashed the other herbs he’d gathered.
Much to his chagrin, she followed after him. “Look at that! Pickin’ flowers, eh? Fun, fun. You want some help carrying that?” He stiffened and turned, staring at her with a knowing gaze.
Ryepelt rolled her eyes at the look and flicked her tail, “oh come on, I promise I’m not gonna do anything. Even I wouldn’t mess with my Pa’s herb stash.”
He stared wordlessly at her before turning away, a flick of his tail signalling he wanted her to leave. He got to work aligning the flowers in his tail fur while taking the roots in his jaw, already having worked out a system to efficiently carry as many herbs as he could back to the camp.
He passed her, not meeting her gaze or even turning back to glance at her as he padded towards the forest. Ryepelt stared after him, ears flattened and the mischievous spark in her eyes gone before she huffed, kicking at the ground and turning away.
“Whatever, I didn’t wanna help anyways.”

meowdy! my name is deer (they/it). this is my xenofiction rambling blog with a heavy focus on battle cats. i enjoy being critical of things i read so if that isn't your thing, this might not be the spot for you. you can find my rambles under the tag #deer rambles. i generally rate this blog 16+ (though im not gonna go out of my way and check tbh) as more mature subject matter sometimes does arise during discussions.
i also really enjoy art! you can find stuff i've drawn under #deer scribbles. interested in commissioning me? check out my ko-fi!

i’m very loose with tags but i do try and get the general stuff, feel free to shoot me an ask if you need something tagged
if you want me to reblog your art, feel free to tag me in it!
i like to complain about this series a lot more than praise it. i find warriors really fun to pull apart, i think it's awful and deserves every nitpick it gets.
if you send me an ask and you want it to be answered privately, please tell me
this is a WC SPOILER ZONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! currently i am only tagging spoilers for the newest wc arc, you can block the tag #asc spoilers to avoid spoilers for it!
some general requests for when sending me asks/messages:
#1 rule is always be nicies to me
please avoid personal anecdotes. i understand sometimes discussions on here veer into personal territory but i am a stranger and i don't always know how to handle responding to that.
it takes me a bit to post some asks. the longer it is, the longer it'll take me to get to it.
i might not respond at all if i don't want to deal with potential discourse and/or i just don't know how to reply to it.
sometimes this blog veers into topics outside of battle cats/xenofiction, i don't really want to discuss general discourse if i don't have to. i do not want to argue about online lgbt+ discourse, that's exhausting.
you can disagree with me, i like to hear other people's opinions. but don't be nasty about it, that's a one way ticket to get yourself booted from here. i love discussions, not people trying to rag on one another.
don't send me callout posts i'm not posting that shit for you go away
banned topics: nightheart, mapleshade's vengeance

here are some stories i have going going that i love to talk about:
#honey's horrible time - A work-in-progress story about a human being who is killed and reincarnated into a warrior cats rip-off series where she possesses the body of one of the minor antagonists in the book. All information on this story is available in this masterlist.
