Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.
#katniss everdeen#the hunger games trilogy#the hunger games#primrose everdeen#hunger games#batcavescolony reads the hunger games#suzanne collins#'now it seems i have become someone precious' NOW? GIRL BFFR you're their hunter girl#and this isn't negative just bffr girl#your WHOLE DISTRICT did the three finger salute that you yourself says means admiration thanks and goodbye to someone you love and on top is#old a rarely used. your WHOLE DISTRICT decided in that moment that they needed to bring back this sign of respect for YOU#...................................................................#idk why some people are thinking i mean this as negative i don't she is unreliable but its not intentional. like when Peeta heart stoped in#CF she doesn't know what Finnick is doing at first cus she doesn't know off the top of her head what cpr is. she also thinks Peeta after the#reaping is acting for the cameras. he isnt we dind out later his mom basically told him Katniss was gonna win and he would die. obviously#shes not doing it on purpose shes just for lack of better words uneducated? as in she doesn't know everything shes not omnipotent#so when Plutarch (? second games guy) shows her his mokingjay hiden watch shes like *wtf that's weird?* then the people traveling to#district 13 show her the mockingjay cookie and explains it and she then goes on the difference between his watch and their cookie#and why does eveyone act as if district 12 is as bad as the capital? they CANT help Katniss and Prim in the way you want. they cant give#them food. none of them have any! and im not putting iton Katniss but they hid they needed food so they could stay together. it sounds like#some of you are in this our world mentally of what people do after a loved one dies (brings food constantly checks on them etc) district 12#cant do that. they dont have food and they're all suffering. you cant give someone food when you have none to give. then theirs the fact#that peeta DID help. Peeta buring the bread and tossing some to her then taking a beating from his mom is a HUGE thing in the books.#he used his resources to help her like you all said someone should.#district 12 DID (rip) care about Katniss before the hunger games. why do you think she was allowed to hunt? or how her trades were good#these are the little ways 12 can shows Katniss they love her. but again Katniss doesn't see this and YES its because she had ptsd before the#hunger games as well. i swear some of you make it seem like d12 was all living a life of luxury and glaring down at Katniss.#other things that show Katniss is in hight standing with at least her people of d12 is her dad was known enough through d12 for peeta dad to#comment on his singing along with his commenting on her mom. also her mom is a healer in the community. yeah her parents arnt the top but#of d12 but they are/were definitely high staning in the Seam.

wheelchair users deserve a minimum of three wheelchairs to meet different needs. like, bare minimum of indoor chair, outdoor chair, and off road chair. chairs that meet different needs for transport, activity, positioning needs, energy levels, etc.
there is not "one chair" that can meet every need. wheelchair users deserve to have multiple chairs that meet specific needs, no matter how complex their seating/positioning needs. we deserve to at least have a backup if our chair breaks that is just as suited to our needs.

Actually, I know damn well Darcy never sat down and thought about marrying Lizzie. If he had, it would have been a week before he was rounding up Bingley, sitting him down, and looking him in the eye like he was about to propose high treason and going, "Jane. You still down bad for her?"
Coin toss whether Bingley would actually get to answer before Darcy turned around and flipped over a whiteboard like
Tumblr media
and launched right into the most detailed migration pattern known to Regency England to keep the extraneous Bennets as contained as humanly possible by rotating them between various Bingley/Darcy estates. Like, we're talking about trading them off for minor holidays a decade out kind of detailed.
"If you and Jane take them for Lady Day ten years hence, Elizabeth and I will take them for Michaelmas. We'll all be together for Christmas and Midsummer, so we'll divide the responsibility individually on those days."
This would be followed by thirteen different spreadsheets projecting joint expenditures so Bingley knows what sort of financial commitment he'll be shouldering and how to minimize it, what proportion Darcy will take care of, what the estate plans are in case Darcy predeceases anybody, when they should probably roll out various stages to keep it from affecting their respective sisters' ability to maximize their own husband-hunting--whole nine yards.
Darcy does not know that he'll probably be murdered when the Bingley sisters find out why he asked for their social calendars. He'd be marginally fine with that at this point, because the fucking Napoleonic War campaigns were not as meticulously planned as his roadmap to getting the other three Bennets satisfactorily married, and Darcy feels about as able as if he'd spent the last year on Elba.
It takes Bingley a few minutes to realize why this is happening, then he's like
Tumblr media
"You proposed to Elizabeth?! Congratulations!"
Darcy... knew there was something he was forgetting.
Tumblr media
That man would have kicked the Collins's door open with four binders tucked under each arm, dumped them in a pile in front of Elizabeth, and loudly announced that if they get married tomorrow he can have her entire family except for Jane extraordinary renditioned to the Scottish moors by Sunday and then been like
Tumblr media
"Why are you yelling at me?! I promise you, it will work! You'll never see anyone in your family except for Jane again, I swear it!" when she starts yelling at him.

Clark and Danny having a mentor/mentee relationship that’s not fatherly but instead two parties who both deeply admire each others morals, skills, and what they do for humanity, and both strive to better each other and be he world around them.
Danny can wail the frequency of Jimmy Olsen’s watch gifted to him by Superman and Superman has memorized Danny’s summoning sigil that he can easily carve into anything or whisper the summoning chant and they both would be there for each other in microseconds.
I’m talking a bond that transcends time and space. Clark time travels a LOT as well as dimension travels because that simply is a common instance as a hero and no matter what; Danny will be there by his side when called.
Has he informed Justice League Dark? Absolutely not. He didn’t expect it to be that big of a deal, Phantom is simply a long time friend, colleague, and mentee that is strong enough to assist in Superman level battles and a ghost. He didn’t expect the magic users of the team’s faces to pale when he described his friend after a brief casual reference to the halfa.

Another DPxDC idea.
I love the ideas of Chef Danny and the AU's but what if Danny opens a small dinner/restaurant and sometimes people stop by for a quick bite but the thing is there is little to no real menu. Danny just comes out when he hears his doors open, greets them warmly, takes them to their table and asks for drinks gets them, before heading into the kitchen.
At first everyone is confused until a few minutes later Danny shows back up with food, food that is amazing and freshly made and HOW DOES IT TASTE LIKE MY -Insert childhood fav meal or preferred fav meal here- ?!?!?!
Danny's small place is at first very unknown but eventually blows up as a urban myth and when people try to find it, its very hard to find. Some people swear its outside of 'this' town, others say they found the place in 'this' city, others find it on long car rides in the middle of nowhere.
It changes location.
The only common real clues is you find it on foggy nights and the neon sign shining 'OPEN' is seen through the fog.

When you spend 20 years attempting to bring down the child slavery, murdering, human trafficking exploitation ring that stole your childhood, murdered your friends, and killed countless innocents only to have them rebrand as 'Noble Freedom Fighters™' off-screen.

I saw your post about bugout bags and like ... bracketing the Gestapo Doorknock thing, when did the "correct" response to a natural disaster become to immediately flee and go into refugee mode? The negative fantasy here is heroically saving yourself while your idiot neighbors die, instead of making the kinds of community connections that people actually use to survive and respond to disasters.
I get what you are saying about community connections being the best path to resiliency, but you should very much flee from floods and wildfires when at risk, to name a few. Ideally while making sure your neighbors are also getting out of Dodge, all assuming there has been ample warning for this particular disaster. But sometimes, there are scenarios where you just have to go that very moment.
For all their talk of bugouts bags, I don't think the capital-P Preppers actually want to leave their home bunkers.
The same American Exceptionalism that causes people here to have Lone Wolf apocalypse fantasies also makes them think they can survive a hurricane in a coastal flood zone.
There is an element of humility required to leave one's home possibly permanently. But that's the key difference, here -- the Preppers aren't as interested in survival as they are in ushering in some kind of new World Order.
You see this type pop up every now and then as a hurricane sets its sights on a town -- the people who make it a big point to talk about what they'd do to a looter, should the Big One hit. These are folks who are not interested in becoming a refugee amd are fine with the risk of staying home, if it means they can shoot people from their little castles.
I also saw more mundane selfishness when I did hurricane rideouts for emergency operations in my old Florida city job -- part of our comms was to remind people that we could *not* send anyone out to help them peak-storm. Sometimes, fleeing (aka, saving yourself) is what keeps other people alive -- they don't have to risk their lives saving you because of your stubbornness.
So, I'm a bit skeptical of fleeing being a power fantasy. What's more likely to happen in a lot of natural disasters (especially those with lead times) is you either get renegade fools in clear danger refusing to leave, or uninformed folks not at risk who panic and think they need to evacuate when they should just hunker down. (And then there are the unfortunates who should evacuate and want to, but cannot because the system has failed them in some way.)
That said, for a longterm crisis, community absolutely is key. And even in a short-term crisis that requires an evacuation, one is presumably fleeing *to* some place that will have other refugees, and it's in one's best interests to build community even in these temporary conditions.

Bullrider! Johnny is explosive while on the bucking bull. He's a tightly wound coil of muscle and grit. His thighs clamp down, calves locked tight, his entire body tense, ready, prepared to counter every brutal buck with sharp corrections. His core works overtime, twisting to keep him balanced, his arms snapping in rhythm with the beast beneath him.
it's not just riding, it's conquering, and he thrives off the struggle.
And then there's Bullrider! Simon— my best pal, Johnny says— and he's an entirely different game. Mass. Weight. Gravity. Where Johnny fights the bull, Simon seems to absorb it. His sheer size is his advantage; his weight keeps him rooted. When the bull lunges, twists and kicks, Simon doesn't scramble. He doesn't need to. The momentum rolls through him and around him. When you're that big a man, you don't have to fight for your place, you reckon.
Johnny fights, and Simon claims.
And how they ride is exactly how they want, how they take.
Johnny steals you into a rodeo maintenance closet with starved impatience and greedy hands that're already trailing down south, fingers dipping into the waistband of your shorts, tips of them finding your pearl in seconds, and his ravenous mouth warm as it presses against the curve of your ear, murmuring nothing else but hot honey in an accent thick with places you've never been while he circles and thrusts and curls oh so deliciously.
"Tight grip ya got there, lass."
Then he holds your bleary gaze when he suckles on his fingers, glistening with your undone slick, licking them clean when his name's announced over the speakers, loud, cutting, for the main event. "Sorry, love, gotta run," he drawls, voice easy, grin sharp and cocky. "But don't ya worry, Simon here'll take good care o' ya."
Johnny's boots are heavy as he walks away, not even a glance back, and before you can even blink— can tell him that you don't remember signing up for the two for one special— Simon moves in, blocks out the light, already taking up the space Johnny left behind, ready to finish what he started.
He's got you now.
Where Johnny had pushed you against the wall, had knocked a bucket or two over in his haste, Simon decides that you belong against that wall, large hands spreading over your waist, and they pin you in place.
"Johnny's made a mess, eh?" His voice is low, careful, dragging slow just behind your ear, and it's thick with an accent that doesn't ask, simply informs.
"Guess I better clean up, then." It sinks hot into your skin but not hotter than the damp breath fanning against your exposed throbbing pussy, and it bounces around in your empty little head when he does clean up, thick, pink tongue savoring Johnny's reward.
And to think that Johnny had told you it'd be just a simple date.
What a lie that was.

I have always found it interesting that the WoL refers to Emet-Selch as not Emet-Selch but as Hades.
Tumblr media
Sure, the journal entry is named Emet-Selch. But the first thing written there is that his true name was Hades. You also see this when you describe him to the Minstrel for his extreme trial.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, the description of the trial alludes to this as well. As when we talk about those we have faced in the First. We talk and refer to him as Hades. Which is also written similarly to the journal. Both of which were described/written by the WoL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hearken unto a requiem for a hero fallen. A man who lived a thousand thousand of our lives clinging desperately to faint hope, never shirking his sworn duty to his long-lost brethren. A man who stood proud and did avow his true name on the threshold of the battle that would see him fall to his rival—the light to quench his shadow. Borrowing liberally from the funereal rites of the Night's Blessed, the minstreling wanderer weaves an elegy in that hero's honor—the tragic-yet-triumphant tale of a man and a battle that ne'er shall be forgotten."
You can also see this in the quest dialogue and while we cannot know the exact words the WoL used (as it is your own intrepretation of it) it is still clear that the WoL didn't refer to Emet-Selch as Emet-Selch they call him Hades.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the WoL, this is about honoring the man who held steadfast to his ideas. Who fought for his loved ones just as much as the WoL does. Not the Ascian Emet-Selch. To honor and remember Hades as he once lived.
There is however, the matter brought up by the Minstrel: Why did Emet-Selch reveal his name to the Wol?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We do have a simple meta reason why: Hades is a recurring Summon across the Final Fantasy games. Using the name Hades is just natural to do so.
However, let's look at this from an in-lore perspective as well. For which we can look to what he says and speculate.
In the quest, Return to Eulmore, before leaving to Wright you can question Emet-Selch over the information he gives in the cutscene before. Revealing to us that Emet-Selch, along with the rest of the ascians encountered, is merely a title inherited. Their true names are hidden to take up the name and position of their seat.
You can, upon hearing this, ask him for his true name:
Tumblr media
His reply to this is rather interesting:
Tumblr media
There are a couple of things to note from his response. Firstly, he doesn't outright dismiss telling you his name, only says that eventually he'll reveal it. Of course, this hinges upon you living through your trials in putting down the Lightwardens and containing the light within, or simply dying from other matters.
But this would be disappointing for him. This dialogue ties into what he proposes to you later in The View From Above. To stand with him as allies. He doesn't propose this to the rest of the Scions, just the WoL. He dangles these threads because he wants them to reach back as Azem would. The WoL dying would be disappointing, and he would have to begin his search anew for Azem's soul.
We don't know if Emet-Selch has encountered Azem's shards before the WoL. Maybe he had or maybe he didn't. But it wouldn't change the fact that the WoL's death would have him searching again.
Even as he hurls insults upon the WoL for once more disappointing him, that is still Azem's soul in there. After all, his invitation to seek him out in the Tempest allows you to die with dignity. Everything he ever does is not let himself be alone and reach out to an old friend.
He wants someone else to remember it all. Who is more worthy of remembering it all than Azem?
Emet-Selch is a man of many masks. It is true, and his emotions are ever cloaked, but there are ever glimpses of them throughout Shadowbringers. Especially if it's Azem's soul prodding at him to reveal the layers underneath.
So in his final confrontation, when either the WoL dies or he, wouldn't it not be disappointing to leave the question of who the man underneath is all truly is? Perhaps even this even the last-ditch attempt to have the bearer of Azem's soul remember before either of you dies.
Emet-Selch yearns for his old friend to come back to him and remember. Just as much as he wishes shoulder the burden of remembering all of those that lived before. The WoL bears that last wish and remembers the man who fought for it all underneath as Hades. A man who once lived.

No, but the implications of Ran and Moraine's talk is so INTERESTING, because.
Everyone in this age thinks the submit/dominate dichotomy when using the One Power is a gendered thing. Women submit, men dominate. As is, I understand, the case in the books.
But this conversation implies the divide is not actually gendered, it's about the quantities of power involved. Once there's too much power in a weave, you need to be in control of it, or it washes you away. And this would be extremely significant in explaining why the Aes Sedai have gotten so much less powerful; they think they need to submit to channel always, so they simply can't handle more powerful weaves.
