another episode in tumblr tumbling down land - for a few days now I've been getting this screen at random. With random I mean... Random. Anything related to randomly going to themed webversion tumblr or clicking on the permalink or trying to see the replies etc of a post, I get this. I usually go back and when I try again it's gone, but... It's starting to annoy me. The first 15 or so times I clicked the dark button "agree with selected cookies" but that wasn't doing shit. (I keep getting it and it redirects to main dashboard)

Good Gavotte!  Crowley and Aziraphale dance a tangled tango.

So I did a thing…. 

Am working on a music video about the ineffable husbands and have been breaking down the kiss scene.   It became useful for me to do a line by line comparison of the key fight/disagreement scenes, because I thought I saw a pattern emerge.   

And voila!  It IS the same fight. Of course it is.

It is a kind of ineffable tango really.  Each time the words might change, but the actual meaning really doesn’t change all that much.   It’s something of a broken record.

The video overlays these five disagreement scenes, cutting between them, to show how this is a dance older than creation:

In the Beginning - Aziraphale helps start the nebula and breaks Crowley’s heart by telling them about the end of the world

Bandstand Scene - the antichrist is awake and Crowley proposes running away to avoid the end of the world  

Outside of the Bookshop - Crowley apologizes and then tries to get Aziraphale to come away again

Fight about Jim - argument about whether to help Jim or not

Apoco-lips - Crowley wants to become an “us” and leave heaven and hell behind, and Aziraphale wants to go to heaven with Crowley and run things together

I’ve mixed the lines together and organized them to play in the correct order, just to show how connected their fights are.   I love this for the Ineffable Idiots because this is a truth about long term relationships - you do tend to repeat things with new words…. and themes emerge.

I made a chart.... and because I was in a creative mood decided to make it pretty.

I thought for anyone working on metas or wanting to study the structure of the writing for fan fic a cross comparison of these particular scenes might also have value…. so here you go.  I’ve included the pictures, but you can also go visit the webversion here.

Außerdem experimentieren wir mit neuen Erweiterungen des Feeds "Für dich", die dazu beitragen sollen, dass Blogs, die nicht so viel Aufmerksamkeit und Engagement erhalten wie etablierte Blogs, stärker wahrgenommen werden.

Du kannst Einträge mit Umfragen jetzt bearbeiten und die Umfrage entfernen. Die Umfrageoptionen selbst kannst du nach Erstellen des Eintrags aber nicht mehr ändern.

Du kannst jetzt WebP-Bilder in Einträgen hochladen.

Wir führen ein neues Experiment mit Aktivitäten im Web durch und aktualisieren das Erscheinungsbild.

Es gibt eine neue Navigationsleiste oben in der iOS-App. (Für die Android-App wurde diese bereits veröffentlicht.)

Im Eintragseditor im Web kannst du jetzt die Position einer Umfrage im Eintrag verändern, wenn du einen Eintrag mit einer Umfrage bearbeitest.

🛠 Behobene Bugs

Wir haben einen Fehler im Eintragseditor behoben, der das Hochladen von mehreren nativen Videos im selben Eintrag und in Reblogs ermöglichte, was zu Fehlern und zum Verschwinden des Eintrags führen konnte.

Wir haben einen Fehler in den RSS-Feeds von Blogs behoben, der dazu führen konnte, dass für einzelne Elemente im Feed kein Titel angegeben werden konnte.

Im Web haben wir ein Problem behoben, das dazu führte, dass das Reblog-Symbol am unteren Rand von Einträgen um ein paar Pixel falsch ausgerichtet war.

Wir haben einen Fehler auf allen Plattformen behoben, der dazu führte, dass bei privat beantworteten Fragen in den Aktivitäten das Label "Mutuals" angezeigt wurde, obwohl du und der antwortende Blog keine Mutuals waren.

Wir haben einen Fehler im Web behoben, der verhinderte, dass "entfernte" Templates auf der Verwaltungsseite ihrer Ersteller:innen angezeigt wurden.

🚧 Baustelle

Es ist uns bekannt, dass Einträge fälschlicherweise mit dem Community-Label "Nicht jugendfrei" gekennzeichnet wurden und das Anfechtungsverfahren nicht erfolgreich war. Wir arbeiten daran, diese Probleme so schnell wie möglich zu beheben, damit das nicht noch mal passiert. Wir möchten uns dafür von Herzen entschuldigen. Es ist absolut nicht akzeptabel, dass in diesem Verfahren Fehler auftreten.

Ein Fehler in der Android-App sorgt dafür, dass sie abstürzt, wenn bestimmte Geschenke verdient werden. In der nächsten Version der App wird es dafür einen Fix geben.

Wir wissen, dass es in der Aktivitätsansicht der iOS-App einen Fehler gibt, der den Blognamen im Aktivitätstext dupliziert. Auch hier wird es in der nächsten Version einen Fix geben.

Das Experiment mit dem neuen Navigationslayout für die Desktopversion geht weiter. Wir sammeln weiterhin Feedback und nehmen daraufhin schrittweise Verbesserungen vor und beheben Fehler, auf die uns die User:innen hingewiesen haben.

Wir beheben auch Probleme, die uns im Zusammenhang mit der Neugestaltung der Direktnachrichten im Web gemeldet wurden.

🌱 Demnächst

Wir arbeiten daran, eine Meldefunktion für Anzeigen mit aufblitzenden Bildern hinzuzufügen, damit wir schneller darauf reagieren können.

Wir arbeiten daran, zahlreiche Probleme mit der Scroll-Performance im Web zu beheben. Das konnte in unseren bisherigen Tests die Speicher- und CPU-Auslastung drastisch reduzieren, insbesondere für Leute, die Tumblr in einem mobilen Browser nutzen.

Institutions suck and administrative tasks are hell

Today is day 13 out of 15 days at a temporary stay in a local nursing home. So, not a hospital, but very much an institution still. I'm both bored and annoyed on multiple different levels. But! My partner has gotten a much needed break thanks to me staying here, and that is worth it.

This is my 16th stay in a hospital/institution and all things considered this one has been pretty comfortable compared to the other 15. Most of the other 15 were just straight up traumatising.

While here I've not really done anything, it was supposed to be a stay for rehabilitation reasons, but one of their PTs (physical therapists) has been on vacation and the other one has been on sick leave. I was meant to talk to an OT (occupational therapist) but it kinda just didn't happen. A lot of things have been kinda just not happening here. Understaffing, hooray.

It feels kind of like I'm being put on a shelf and only looked at for brief intermittent maintenance, to be honest. I shared that with a few of the nurses and they said I'm not the only one saying that... :/

Anyway.

I've attempted to tackle overdue and much needed administrative tasks while here, cause I've got limited video game access and need something to do.

So I've played an absolute crapton of puzzle games, and worked a lot on different spreadsheets. Puzzles and spreadsheets make the creature happy.

I do wish solving anything in my life wasn't reliant on a full-time job's worth of admin task hours, tho. Like it took me 5 hours to sort all the major goals for unfucking our situation, immediate tasks to do, and calendar of upcoming dates. That's 5 hours of sorting information for the sole purpose of more effectively recruiting people I know to help with all the tasks on the ToDo spreadsheet that I can't do on my own. Like approximately a zillion phonecalls and about a petabyte worth of application writing. Maybe mildly exaggerated.

It's so much! work! to! do!

I just want a little home on the coast and in-home carers so I can stay institutionless and at least mildly content with my state of being alive in a flesh prison body suit. But the system is built for people like me having parents to sort that shit out. And I just don't have parents. But I also don't have the ability to fix everything, because - shockingly - being disabled impairs my ability to do the things.

So yeah I've been bored and mad at the administrative workload and also playing so many puzzle games. So. Many. I've been especially fixated on puzzles from Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection and can absolutely recommend those. There's a bunch, on Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and webversion. My favourites are Unruly, Guess, and Map. Please tell me if you try any of them I would love to talk puzzles. Puzzles make me happy, a bajillionty admin tasks do not.
