In the dark of night, I begged for a chance,

A fragile girl, caught in a cruel dance.

Hope flickered softly, but where did it go?

Using (one of) my mandatory sacred duty sister votes now as a buffer as I'm Burdened. Deeply Conflicted. With Decisions. My fraud was thwarted. I have to send one out to my man Bruno. It's not even a question. I'm so sorry I failed you, king <- sentiments shared by Alfonse

But the REAL conflict here, actually.

I usually always vote for Takumi, out of sentimentality and vanity (I like to keep him high ranking). I was thinking of voting for Céline bc she's dear to me. But the thing is, is that Takumi already has plenty of alts, one of which was semi-recent (the DoD one) (WAIT RECENTER. THE SUMMER FESTIVAL ONE TOO). And Céline pretty much JUST got a ninja alt!! (Which. Was a fascinating choice but I can't argue w the results, she's sooo cutes). Like... I feel like part of voting for a chara in CYL is, even if you know a fave won't Win win, maybe there will be enough demand for them to get a random alt. This in mind -- I feel like Takumi and Céline are all set, actually. Takumi has plenty of alts and is still a dearly beloved fan favorite after all this time, and Céline has the recency relevancy that comes w being from Engage (like! She def has her own devoted fans too, but I'm focusing more on like, the logistics of it all). I feel like both of them have high to decent chances at more alts in the future!

Meanwhile. I am on my hands and knees begging for a Sharena alt THAT IS NOT the bridal alt. Six years. Six years. In between her bnuuy alt. And her Second official alt (much love to the Askr sibbie duo. They DO mean everything to me but it's an Alfonse alt. Sharena is just cheering him on. WHICH SHE'S SO GOOD AT but I Digress). UNIQUELY devastating villain origin story event, for me specifically. I mean the alt (back on topic the bridal one) itself is Fine I Guess but to the uninitiated if this somehow breaches containment. I, tumblr user moe-broey, Milo, Hate Marriage and Love Divorce. That is all the context you need to know when I tell you they made that alt to psychologically torture me personally (also my years long descent into madness sleeper agent style about Sharena but that should be a given. All caught up? Ywah 🫡👍)

Okay so what am I Getting At, here. Before I become completely incoherent (sleepy)

Considering throwing favoritism out the window in a practical move to prioritize other favoritism. Favoritism of characters In Need. And also I may be Compelled if the half time results show Sharena high ranking, like. DOES she have A Chance? I don't know. I honestly don't know. I honestly never thought Alfonse would actually win CYL (MUCH LESS IN 1ST!!!!). But maybe. Maybe. If we all hold hands and get really really REALLY insane about it. Maybe. Maybe........

LIKE if it isn't clear I'm debating doubling up my votes instead of trying to evenly disperse them. I am thinking DEEPLY. On it ....

v theee [boring car selling in nc details] theee to junk ur car the company wanted me to go ahead and sign the title and leave the buyer info blank which is having an open title (bc if u drop it on the way to sell ur car anyone can pick it up and fill in their info and own ur car) and is like. STUPID illegal in nc. like people still do it esp in just third party-to-third party sales. and junker services do it so if they can sell the car again they dont have to deal with two transactions of paperwork and fees [<- which is why its illegal so nc can capture those fees]. but like. they shouldnt be able to tell me on their publically available site that they want me to break nc law

and also nc law wants me to get that title notarized which because of open titles being illegal. most notaries wont notarize u if the buyer isnt also there filling in their info.

most notaries are also. either like banks or other m-f 9-5 type businesses. or just some random person in their house. and random person in their house is more likely to break the law for me but i dont want to ask some random person to break the law for me

(the dmv will also notarize and anecdotally from reddit some of them totally will just shrug and let u do it with only you the seller/you the buyer there instead of needing both but thats arbitrary depends on getting someone who doesnt care lol)

AND also. even if im selling to a person not trying to get me to break the law just buying my car regular. and i work m-f 9-5 or we both work hours where theres no way to get us both in the same place and certainly not a bank or a dmv except like, sunday evening, when no banks or dmvs are open.

In favour of Minrathous: He's a Shadow Dragon. It's his home, and Edgar is of course very loyal to Figaro so it would make sense (even though Rook isn't really a Minrathous native, they were adopted by the Shadow Dragons). He'd want to make sure the Shadow Dragons survive the attack to continue fighting the Venatori. If the cult takes over the government, they could hand Tevinter right over to the gods, which would be Very Very Bad.

In favour of Treviso: There are a lot of defenseless civilians already under Antaam occupation. They have no standing army, and while there's corruption in the Templars, he has reason to believe that in this circumstance they would help defend Minrathous from the dragon and could last longer against it while they help the Crows defend Treviso. The blight getting into the waterways also wouldn't just affect Treviso, theoretically it could travel to other places and contaminate their water as well.

Both are all around a Bad Time and there's not really any right choice to make here which is both great and awful at the same time, thanks bioware.

(Also if Minrathous gets blighted and the Venatori take over, it kinda mimics the events of ff6 following Edgar's decision to protect Terra- I'm thinking about South Figaro's occupation by the Empire and the attack on the Returners hideout specifically).

Bad news and good news out of Ron DeSantis's Florida.

The Florida Supreme Court will allow a new 6-week abortion ban to take effect in May. BUT the court also approved a ballot initiative for November which would restore reproductive freedom in the state.

Floridians will be able to vote on abortion protections this fall, the state’s Supreme Court ruled Monday—a win celebrated by the state’s Democrats despite the court, in a separate case, also paving the way for a law to take effect that will ban all abortions after six weeks. That six-week abortion ban, passed by Florida’s Republican-majority legislature and signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis last year, will go into effect on May 1. That measure can be undone by voters come November, however. The court’s decision is expected to reverberate across Florida and the southeast. A privacy protection clause in the Florida constitution had allowed the Sunshine State to enjoy abortion access up to 15 weeks despite DeSantis being at the helm—access that women relied upon in nearby states like Alabama and Mississippi, where abortion is outright banned, and in Georgia and South Carolina, which have laws similar to Florida’s soon-to-be-active six-week ban.

DeSantis appointed most of the Florida Supreme Court justices. Another reason why we should pay more attention to state government – regardless of state.

Florida’s Supreme Court, which had five of its seven justices appointed by DeSantis, ruled in favor of the state on Monday, 6-1. Now, Florida women will often be barred from having an abortion before many realize they’re even pregnant.

The court approval of the upcoming referendum, actually a Florida constitution amendment called Amendment 4 on the 2024 ballot, was narrow.

That amendment, if it received at least 60 percent of votes in favor of it, would significantly protect abortion access in Florida. Its text reads, in part, that “no law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before fetal viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.” Viability is estimated to be around six months of pregnancy. The Florida Supreme Court voted 4-3 in favor of approving the amendment to reach the ballot—a tight victory for abortion advocates like Planned Parenthood, which has championed the proposed amendment.

60% is a relatively high bar. But Kansas, arguably more conservative than Florida, had an abortion referendum in 2022 in which the reproductive freedom side got 59.16% of the vote; the Kansas election required just a simple majority but the final result exceeded that by almost 10%.

The necessary 60% for the Florida reproductive freedom amendment required in Florida won't be a cake walk but it is quite doable.

As many as 11 states could have reproductive freedom on the ballot as referendums this year.

Where abortion rights could be on the ballot this fall

^^^ Just to clarify: New York already offers strong reproductive legal protections. The upcoming referendum, if passed, would place freedom of choice into the NY constitution. It doesn't get more secure than that in state law.
