Origami, a Japanese word, where ori means folding and gami/kami means paper. Origami is the art of paper folding. The traditional practice of origami can be cited way back during the Edo period (1603-1867).
Apart from japan, the use origami is also documented in china and Europe history, although they seem to have different traditions. While in japan, it was mostly used as way of entertainment, used in ceremonies (often attached with gifts). In China paper folding was used during funerals where they burnt folded papers, most often in the shape of yuanbao (sycee). In Europe, they had napkin folding which was vastly used in the 17th and 18th century. Napkin folding at a dinner table was a symbol of status among the nobles, the more complex folding technique the higher the status.
Origami art is a technique where one uses a flat paper to create both two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects. One can also use any flat material, but it should be able to hold a crease.
There are many different types of origami, the most used are, stationary & action origami, modular origami, kirigami and wet folding origami. Stationary origami is the most common type, where the objects are still. In contrary to stationary, action origami is when the designs can move (fly or jump). A frog origami is a good example of an action type, one is required to press and release its hind legs for the frog to hop. Modular origami is when you use multiple identical pieces of origami to form a sculpture. When a paper is cut while being folded to create a three-dimensional design object, it is known as kirigami. Wet folding is using a damp paper so that the crafter can achieve a much more textured and realistic appearance of the object.
What is special about origami and what I personally like about it, is that one can use a simple thing such as paper to create something unique, that requires ones` imagination.
Fun fact: the most know origami model is a paper crane origami. A widely known superstition, folding 1000 paper cranes will give one a chance to make a wish come true. Youngsters often fold 1000 cranes and gift them to the one they like.

This week everything was about stop motion. But what is stop motion?
Stop motion is a illusion. It is a animation which captured one frame at time. In this frames objects can be moved or drawings can be expand. Then the frames/ pictures will be played as a video really fast. This creates a illusion of movement.
You can use stop motion with drawings or just fold a paper. We use it for instructions and for enjoying ourselves.
We had different task to the topic stop motion. I want to explain you how we made the stop motion video to the origami instruction of a fox.
At first we downloaded the “Stop Motion Studio” App and decided that we want to make a Origami fox. Then we searched for a instruction in the internet and planned how we wanted to show it. Then we set up our place and started to make the pictures.
In the and we liked our stop motion video and the others also enjoyed it to watch.
Introduction to Stop Motion Animation - Dragonframe
Very busy day at home. Lots of cooking breakfast, roasted a kabocha squash and the seeds, pumpkin cookies and dinner. All of that cooking let me break in my new oven mitts. Also bathed the cat and not a single scratch on me. #cookingupastorm #catbath #selfiesunday #loveyourself #thisis40 #week42 https://www.instagram.com/p/B2viutZgfDO/?igshid=1pqpjoy28bhod
