I’m very shy, distant, quiet, and a little awkward. Basically a huge introvert at first. However, once I get to know you better or I at least see that you’re comfortable around me, I’ll get comfortable as well :) And once that happens, you could say I become slightly more extroverted. I get louder, laugh more, and am overall less shy, distant, quiet, and awkward. I’m also very sensitive and have tons of trouble speaking up for myself. When getting yelled at or just insulted, I try and act unbothered but I think everyone knows that I’m holding in my tears at that point… (it’s really embarrassing ok don’t judge 🫠) But one thing I can say is that I’m somewhat funny. When I feel comfortable around people or just someone, I usually let more witty and funny comments out. The same goes for when I’m like shy Y’know? Its just that it’s much more less cause the last thing I want is awkward silence. Hobbies I have are photography, gaming, golfing, bowling, board games, jigsaw puzzles, and listening to music! I mostly do these hobbies solo though since I’m either too scared or nervous to ask someone or even a friend to participate with me. My appearance usually consists of grey sweatpants, grey sweatshirt, and black boots— it’s usually my go to outfit since it’s pretty comfortable. At home, my hair is tied in a low ponytail. Outside however, my hair is let down. I let my hair down outside because I’m hella insecure about my side profile. I have a round face, curtain bangs, eye-bags, black hair, and really dark brown eyes :) some people say they look soulless but idk 🤷‍♀️ I think the only thing that’s preventing my eyes look completely soulless is the fact that I commonly express myself through reactions. I also tend to speak using a lot of “uh” or “um” because if usually when I don’t say those two words, I end up mixing up my words and my whole sentence just ends up sounding confusing 😬 Also, I smile at almost everything and anything. I’m one of those people where even in awkward, inappropriate, or tense situations— I’ll smile. It’s especially always common for me to smile when I’m nervous. Most people find this trait comical lol. But in situations where I shouldn’t be smiling but do, I never smile to upset people, I smile because I’m either extremely nervous or I just thought of something funny. Another trait I have that I’ve gotten called weird for is how often I laugh during the night rather than the day. I just feel like during the nights I remember more hilarious things than I usually do during the day. I also laugh really loud when I’m alone so I guess hearing loud laughter in the nighttime is in fact weird 🤥

Frank Frankly is definitely your match! While it seems odd at first, he’s definitely the very few that just don’t jump all over you when you first get introduced into The Neighborhood. With both of your guy’s intellect and genuine curiosity of the world around you, you often seek refugee in the comfort in both of your homes, secluded away from the drama that is Welcome Home!

As I previously mentioned, Frank is one of the few members of the cul-de-sac that doesn’t try to ambush you. After all, it’s not often they get a new orca puppet with an already built in house around The Neighborhood. But he is, at first, incredibly suspicious of you. Who are you? Why did you choose to come to The Neighborhood?? You are an orca, what do you mean you can breathe air??? He’s got so many questions, but he’s respectful enough to make sure all the other Neighbors back off so you can settle into your new home appropriately. Unfortunately, Julie will make it into a big Welcoming Party that very night so you guys will inevitably meet at the party at Howdy’s place. There he catches you sneaking away to the food table after being fully interrogated (Sally would say interviewed for the next position is how Barnaby and her did it). He walks right next to you and asks if you’re up to ask some questions as he’s noticed you seem overwhelmed by the massive group. This is how your relationship began to blossom forth, shared camaraderie in the chaos that you both live in.

Frank is incredibly intrigued by your fascination for marine life, despite knowing you’re part of that specific ecosystem. Literally loves how you can ramble on and on about your species and other species as well. Wait until you tell him some of the crustaceans are basically considered bugs of the ocean, he will gladly jump in on reading and studying marine life right alongside you if there’s water bugs involved. He also greatly appreciates having someone blab on about his own great fascination on insects, not feeling like he’s being annoying or ignored tends to happen when he’s trying to connect with his other fellow Neighbors as they’re all caught up in their own escapades. On nice nights you’ll both go around outside in evening sun catching some bugs for Frank’s studies that he was previously unable to due to the lack of hands or speed to reach and track down the scurrying critters. On colder nights you’ll both decide whose house they’re spending the night in together and read books by the soft crackling of the fireplace with the shutters drawn and hot cocoa and gelatin molds of jello with fruits captured inside.

Hates jokes to the next degree, but he can’t help but laugh when you use your humor to befuddle Barnaby when he comes up with Wally to pester you both when you were both tending to Frank’s garden. He doesn’t quite believe you managed to get rid of the resident jokester with his own jokes by being so dead serious, but he watched it happen as you both argued what was left, using poor Wally as your indicator on what direction was left. What’s worse is that you and Barnaby both had the same left, but you kept denying it thanks to one of Barnaby’s jokes he made. He noticed that you kept moving away from him in order to fully distract and enrapture Barnaby in this argument so it got quieter the father you guys moved from Frank. He realized you were doing this so he didn’t have to listen to the bickering you were doing on purpose so he could enjoy the rest of his afternoon gardening. He did sit in the garden’s earth for a while and watched you fully dead set on annoying Barnaby, smiling with how mischievous you are. When Barnaby finally threw in the towel a whole 45 minutes later, Frank gifted you a beautiful zucchini that was fairly large and said you both could bake some zucchini bread for tonight’s little sweet treat and his thanks for protecting him from Barnaby’s jokes.

Doesn’t quite realize all the random magazines in your home are for the fellow Neighbors to pick up and exclaim which item caught their eye, he only recognizes this when Eddie mentions he’d like the weighted blanket he saw in one of your catalogs due to the fact it was covered in the colorful envelopes he used to deliver as Frank started to insist that Eddie should join you guys more often due to Eddie feeling more left out and the butt of all the Neighbors jokes recently. A couple days later when you’re all hanging out again, you announce to Eddie that you got something for him because he seemed a little sadder than usual, which was fine to say as it was just him and Frank and presented him with a gift. He opens it up to see it’s the exact weighted blanket he had desired for himself only a few days ago and realized it was the packages he got to deliver to your place yesterday from Howdy’s supplies order. It’s not only thing in the gift basket as there’s little self care items such as bath bombs and candles and more arts and crafts stuff he likes to do as he gets to listen to you and Frank talk about insects or ocean critters. Literally cries and gives you a strong hug and wails about how much he likes the items you got him and how much you mean to him as a Neighbor and friend. Frank himself is struggling to keep his own tears back as he’s extremely touched by your own kindness. You’ve been listening to Frank worry about how depressed Eddie has gotten ever since the letters stopped coming in and how cruel the other Neighbors have gotten towards Eddie due to the fact Eddie is a kind fellow with a soft heart of gold. He truly knows you’re a keeper as you soothe Eddie’s hiccups and sobs.

Enjoys that you can spend time with the other Neighbors and understand how they work instead of jumping right into a verbal fight. Julie was getting worked up about how Sally wasn’t drawing right as was Sally right back at Julie. You immediately cut that fight off and tell them to draw how they’re feeling on a new piece of paper with you monitoring them. Frank’s watching this at a distance with Eddie and Poppy in Poppy’s house as they were baking a couple sheets of brownies not too far off. You show them the art works they made to show how they were feeling and pointed out each artistic detail to them to make them come to the real problem. Turns out, Julie just wanted more interactive props that could be used in the fall fair the whole Neighborhood was to throw a week later and Sally was frustrated thinking Julie didn’t see her work as creative or good. You pieced it together by making your own art piece mimicking both of the issues the girls had with each other. Both of them then decided that you should work hands on with Wally under their supervision to make this interactive prop a reality to test it out. Frank later came over to check in on you with a few slices of brownies and the art pieces that solved the problem and enjoyed your piece so much that he asked if he could keep it. He ended up starting a scrapbook of all the art pieces you made, enjoying the attention and detail you brought to each piece to make it entirely its own style and creation. It even helped solved a problem that would have been affecting The Neighborhood for weeks after the fair!

Frank doesn’t like physical contact with others if he doesn’t really trust them, letting only really Eddie and Julie ever make contact with him personally. You managed to avoid contact altogether, stating touching others made your skin crawl that made you extremely uncomfortable and was one of the more enforced boundaries you had, although Eddie and Frank have managed to be allowed occasionally to be hugged or have their hands held. Frank really likes holding hands with you while having a casual walk in the surrounding woods nearby, enjoying nature to its fullest and hearing the birds chirp and the bugs buzzing on by. Seeing the sunlight filter through the trees and the gentle breeze cooling you guys off as you enjoy quiet peace together, with a small chat here and there.

You and Frank will become known as a power couple and probably the only real couple in The Neighborhood, others trying and failing to recreate what makes the two of you so special. You both don’t care for the drama that plagues the others, but you certainly welcome in the ones who will listen and enjoy doing their own things. Eddie has accidentally became the official third wheel of you guys but you honestly don’t mind due to how Frank holds him in such high regard and he truly is a joy to spend time with as well. Julie gets jealous for a little while, but she settles for the fact that she can now have two best friends for the price of one! You both aren’t seen far apart and when you are, it’s well known you’re crafting a new piece of art or a new gift for someone so close to your heart. Frank will be selecting which books to get in catalogs and vegetables he’s harvesting so you guys can make a sweet treat together while reading new books by the fireplace. While there’s still trouble ahead, Frank is grateful he’s got someone to weather the storm with together.

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to New Tokyo Dome, home of your Giants! Tonight, the Giants face off against the visiting Swallows in what promises to be an exciting matchup.”

It was your first time experiencing your boyfriend’s game live, a significant change from watching him on screen. Ken had given you two tickets, inviting you to see his baseball game in person and you decided to bring your best friend, Mio.

As you and Mio made your way through the bustling crowd to your seats, the excitement of the game day atmosphere surrounded you. The stadium was a sea of team colours, with fans cheering and the scent of popcorn and hot dogs wafting through the air.

Ken had been clear about keeping your relationship private for now, given that it was still new, and he didn't want to stir up any media attention. You understood his concerns and were content with supporting him discreetly, even from the stands.

You finally found your seats and settled in, the anticipation bubbling inside you. As you took in the scene, the field looked well-maintained under the stadium lights, and the crowd's roar was almost deafening. Your eyes instinctively scanned the field, searching for Ken among his teammates. When you finally spotted him, you couldn’t help but beam with pride.

Ken's tall figure was unmistakable, and as if sensing your gaze, he turned towards you – he had purposely given you tickets close to his dugout so he could see you from there. "Let's hope they just think he was winking at the crowd," you shook your head, smiling.

"Well, either way, it's pretty amazing. Look at him! He's totally in his element."

As the game commenced, you watched Ken with admiration. The way he effortlessly swung his bat, the precision in his throws, and the commanding presence he had on the field – it was clear he was born for this.

You could hardly contain the pride and joy swelling within you as you saw him in action. Being a part of his world, even if only from the sidelines, felt like a privilege. If only he knew how much you itched to scream, “Yeah! That’s my boyfriend!” proudly with your chest, you might have made your presence even more known. 

Occasionally, the stadium's giant screens would light up with the infamous "Kiss Cam," zooming in on couples in the crowd. Each time it happened, the fans would cheer and clap, urging the featured pair to share a kiss. 

Some couples laughed and played along, while others blushed and waved shyly at the camera. You and Mio watched the spectacle with amused smiles, sharing knowing glances whenever the camera swung close to your section.

After a few rounds, the stadium's energy shifted as the game went into a brief break. The "Kiss Cam" made its rounds again, eliciting cheers and laughter from the crowd. This time, to your surprise and slight horror, the camera zoomed in on you and the guy sitting beside you. The giant screen displayed your faces for all to see, and the audience erupted in cheers, urging you to kiss the stranger.

Mio sensed your discomfort and immediately tried to defuse the situation. She leaned in closer, putting her arm around you and making exaggerated gestures to draw the attention away from the awkward scenario. However, her efforts came to an abrupt halt as she caught sight of Ken sprinting towards you from across the field.

Just as the chants grew louder, Ken, who was about to take a sip of his water in the dugout, glanced at the screen. His eyes widened in shock as he saw you on the Kiss Cam with another man. "Hell nah," he muttered under his breath, dropping his water bottle without a second thought.

With determined speed, he sprinted across the field. The crowd's cheers turned into gasps of surprise as Ken vaulted over the net and made a beeline for your seat. In one swift motion, he pulled you into his arms and pressed his lips to yours in a deep, passionate kiss. The stadium erupted in a mix of astonished silence and wild applause.

As he broke the kiss, he glanced around at the crowd, a smug grin on his face, clearly enjoying the attention and the statement he had just made. You stood there, stunned and speechless, your heart pounding in your chest.

“You alright, babe?” he chuckled softly at your reaction, his eyes twinkling with mischief. Then, his gaze shifted to the guy sitting beside you, his eyes darkening with possessiveness. The guy raised his hands in surrender, nervously shifting in his seat before quickly changing places with the person next to him.

Before you could respond, Ken peeled off his jersey, revealing the snug turtleneck underneath. He draped the jersey over your shoulders, its warmth and his scent enveloping you. "Way to make an entrance, Ken!" Mio, who had been trying to help you deflect the situation, burst into laughter.

Still breathless from the kiss, you managed to find your voice. "I can't believe you just did that," you said, a mix of embarrassment and exhilaration in your tone.

Ken grinned, pulling you close. "I couldn't let anyone else have you, not even for a second," he replied.

The crowd's cheers and the flashing cameras faded into the background as you focused on him. "You're going to make your PR team work overtime with this move," you quipped, a playful edge in your voice as you finally caught your breath.

"Let them work. They should get used to it," he replied confidently. 

You chuckled and pulled him into a kiss. The cameras flashed even more intensely, capturing every moment of your embrace. From the sidelines, Mio let out a loud wolf whistle, her laughter ringing out above the noise.

You smiled against Ken’s lips, thinking to yourself, so much for keeping things lowkey.

"Atsumu?" You sigh, tugging it loose and glancing at him through the mirror.

It's more so what you can see of him— the frosted glass of the shower punishes you mostly, keeps you to watching his blurry body turn, his head twist to your voice. You can see him turn to face the water again.

"Hey baby. How's work?"

"I'm gonna guess better than the game today?" You pick up his sweaty jersey with your foot, taking in the distinct yet familiar smell of sharp pines and locker room. "Judging by the state of our home."

"Yeah, for sure." He hesitates, humming when he rubs at the crook of his neck. "Maybe tomorrow morning? Swear."

You don't care when he cleans it up, really. Your eyes haven't left the shower.

Quietly, you start to undo your blouse, shrugging it off of your shoulders and peeling it off of your sticky skin. You toss it near Atsumu's abandoned shorts.

"Been in there a while?" you huff, blindly turning on the fan. "Hot as hell in here."

"Everything hurts," he groans. "Fuckin' hate coming off the off-season— not used to it."

You purse your lips. "Gonna stay in for a little while longer?"

It's quiet, aside from the shower running. His shadow moves, leans closer to the glass before standing upright again. His hands tease you over the top, combing through his hair.

"If someone wants to keep me company, can't really say no."

(He must sense your eyes rolling, because he chuckles and slips the door open a crack.)

You shimmy your tight skirt down your legs, stepping out of everything embarrassingly fast. Your cami ends up hanging off the sink and your pantyhose are in a ball, but Atsumu's waiting hand has you getting inside the shower as fast as you can manage.

Where he isn't drenched in water, he's painted by a thin sheen of heat, the steam of the shower dripping down his temple. His hand welcomes you first, guiding you closer so his lips can greet you next.

KC HAD A SOLID GAME!! Quiet 10 tbh I barely realized she'd gotten double digits but I did notice every basket and you could see her being aggressive about it and that's so important.

AUBREY BBG GOT SOME GOOD MINUTES TOO!!! Hard to say if she should've gotten more after such a dominant performance by but her presence is always great and I think really deflated SC, seeing her come off the bench in the 2nd half when we were already demolishing.

Your family moved to Makochi when you were a kid. They got an offer of work as an elementary school teachers. Knowing the reputation of this town, your parents at first refused. But when they asked you if you'd like to move to Makochi, you agreed without hesitation. You liked a big new house your parents showed you, not to mention that you sincerely loved your family, the idea of going to the school with your parents sounded amazing. And so, despite all doubts, the choice was made, you with your family moved into a big beautiful house in Makochi.

Your parents were worried about you, what if you'll never be able to make friends in this town filled with delinquents but as it turned out there was nothing to worry about. So called delinquents were actually the sweethearts, you got along with your neighbor, Hiragi Toma, really well, he became someone you can call an older brother, he protected you from bullies and introduced you to his friends. Unfortunately some of them had painful past, some of them were bullied, some of them had a family drama, but to your kind parents they all were like their own children. They sincerely took care of your friends and weren't afraid to stand up for them, earning respect from others.

And you... You were a ray of shine to your friends, their hope, their precious family and friend, some of them were in love with you since childhood. And their feelings continues to this day.

Nowadays you are a high school student. It's sad that you can't go to the same school with your friends anymore, but you meet with them often after classes or on weekends. They love you and your parents very much, so your home turned into a secret base for Furin students. You always there to heal their wounds, both emotional and physical, treat them with delicious food and drinks and help them with anything. Ah, how lucky they are to have you by their side!

▣ Comforting: as mention before, you are a very special girl to Furin High students. They comes to you whenever they feel down, and you always listen to them, give them a good advice, take care of their wounds and surprise them with some delicious snacks and homemade drinks like smoothies, latte or milkshakes. The way you memorize everything about them, even if they only briefly mentioned it, and give them a second chance if they did something wrong made them feel so appreciated, so loved. This is what they lack, and that's why they treasure you so much.

Fortunately he was only slightly wounded, and that just because Toma knocked him out to calm down. The way you were so kind with him surprised Ren. To be honest, he was just like a stray cat who doesn't let anyone close at first, he tried to run away and told that he doesn't need your help. However, your patience and a few words from Toma did their job, so Ren ended up eating peaches in your living room. He felt a little uncomfortable, an unfamiliar warmth spread through his heart. This was a first time someone accepted him, nobody has ever treated him with such kindness. But he also was sure that it won't be long, if he shows you his ugly side, you'd turn against him. And Ren, he wouldn't blame you, because he was just a beast. Oh, how wrong he was!

♡ Toma, you and your family were very warm to Ren. And he couldn't help but grew addicted to the warmth of your presence. He started spending time at your home, hanging out with you and your friends all day long. Not to mention, that you two attended the same school. The way you were so honest and kind, the way you accepted him even when you found out about his beast side, the way you always put his needs in front of yours, your genuine concern for him, all this led to Ren started developing feelings for you.

♡ His thoughts were messed up, Ren was so denial, so afraid of loosing you. He knew that you deserve someone better than him. Someone who is not a monster, someone who isn't as troublesome as he is, someone... who is not Ren. He was determined to be your friend and pine after you from afar until his dying day. But sometimes, just sometimes, Ren allowed himself to dream of the future that never comes. The future where he holds your hand while he walks you home. Maybe in this future Ren is just an ordinary high school student, who doesn't spend all day, every day beating people up. Maybe in this future you like him back. Oh, thinking about it only made Ren crazy.

♡ But time passed and Ren gained confidence. He's got a great bunch of friends that encouraged him everyday. Lollipops and headphones have made him a human, even if just half-assed, but still human. And there was a little hope, that maybe, just maybe, one day the future that Ren could only dream of will come.

♡ Ren confessed you unexpectedly even for himself. This did not happen without the help of Kusumi and Enomoto who were well aware of Ren's feelings for you and even that you liked him back. So they asked you two to hang out together at your home and, making sure that Ren was already there, texted that unfortunately they can't come. Even though you and Ren were a good friends, the two of you never really hang out alone. Hiragi and his friends, Enomoto and Kusumi, your parents, Furin students, there was always someone. And Ren couldn't help but started getting nervous, left alone with you.

"Do you want to listen to music?" Ren asked awkwardly and put on his headphones to your ears after a nod from you. The music began to play and your eyes widened because it was it was one of your favorite song, not one of the songs Hiragi recommended Ren. This was followed by another. And more importantly, all these songs were about love.

You turned to Ren who fidgeted with candy wrapper. Despite his calm expression, the tips of his ears turned red.

"Your taste in music has changed a bit", you noticed and pulled the headphones off.

"It's because of you", Ren faintly whispered under his breath. His eye was fixed on a candy wrapper. Ren paused and began to color up with nerves. "Because... I like you. More than a friend".

Ren turned to face you and looked at you, he wanted to tell you that it's ok if you don't like him back, that he just wanted to let you know, that he won't bother you anymore, but the words were stuck in his throat. Why?

Why, why... it's clear why. Because you interrupted him, saying "I like you too".

♡ You and Ren are so adorable. All your friends ship you two so much! Ren swore himself to protect you and make you happy. He would do anything for you. Ren doesn't like studying, but he asks his friends to help him, because he wants to secure a stable future for you. Ren used to not memorize the songs titles, he just listened to the songs Hiragi likes, but now all the songs, all the titles are associated with you. This song is the one he listened to when you two went on a first date, this one when he confessed, and this one describes his feelings for you so well. And of course Ren is more than happy to listen to any song you like even if it's something silly. Ren is hopeless simp when it comes to you.

♡ Ren likes spending time with you in a comfortable silence. The way you always ask him for a cuddles, so cute and politely, never failed to make Ren turn into a blushing mess. He doesn't need the lollipops and headphones when you're around. Your presence alone is enough to calm Ren down. He is awkward, he doesn't know how to express his love properly, but he does his best. Ren is not good with words, but the way he protects you, the way he holds your hand so gently as if you're the most important treasure, all this leaves no doubt that Kaji Ren is hopelessly in love with you.

Sako Kota has a crush on you, this tiny puppy crush on a pretty girl who always took care of him. You were so kind, but strong and determined. Kota was very upset when he found out that you and Ren got together, because it meant that he lost the chance to win you over. Suo Hayato is a good friend of yours. You are so different form his classmates, your empathetic nature attracts him. The two of you met when Hayato patrolled the streets with Hiragi and his classmates and you helped your mother with the groceries. Of course, Furin students walked you two home and helped to carry your bags. In gratitude, your mother invited them to stay and eat. So you met Furin first years and made friends with Suo. The both of you are calm and empathetic, Hayato is always there if you need some help and comfort. Knowing that you have some anxiety problems, Hayato makes sure that you always feel safe and happy. He likes that you are so honest with others and with yourself too, that you take care of people around you. You and Hayato share some likes and hobbies, like myths and books reading. He is more than happy to discuss a new book or fantastic creatures with you and teases you if you find non-cute creature cute. But only in a loving way, because he likes you very much.

Kusumi Yuto and Enomoto Takeshi are your friends and wingman. They did their best to get you and Ren together and they have succeeded. You met them because of Ren, because they were his new friends. Ren introduced you to them because he wanted his precious friends and the girl he likes to get along well. Yuto and Takeshi were hoked by you, much to the delight of Ren. Welcome to the King of the Claudes Tournament!

A silly little place with polls about our favorite silly little actor, Claude Rains!

Prior to the creation of this blog, we were shocked (shocked!) to find that across the Tumblrverse, time and time again, Claude Rains would be beaten by fearsome opponents in the race for the crown of various hottest/scrungliest/what-have-you titles. So, we've decided to take matters into our own hands to give some well-deserved love to this beloved character actor through various polls!

We're going to be matching up all (and we mean all!) the roles Claude has played over his decades of acting to decide which one of them will be The King of Claudes! All characters(we're talking the famed Captain Louis Renault, the mad scientist Jack Griffin, as well as other lesser-known portrayals like the kindly Mr. Jordan and the cankerous Professor Benson) will be submitted by default and it's up to the voters to send in their favorite propaganda(pictures, GIFs, stories, video clips)!

Who's Claude Rains? Great question! William Claude Rains was a British screen/stage/radio actor who was primarily known for his character acting and there was never a role he couldn't seem to play (When asked about his versatility as an actor, he replied that he "can play the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker"). He was a frequent collaborator with stars such as Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, and Cary Grant, among others and worked with directors such as Michael Curtiz and Alfred Hitchcock. He was nominated for four Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor and won a Tony Award for his role in Darkness at Noon. Oftentimes, people know him as "that guy" when talking about his roles in iconic films (such as Casablanca, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, The Invisible Man, and Lawrence of Arabia). He also served in WW1 (even fighting alongside individuals such as Basil Rathbone and Sir Cedric Hardwicke) and called himself a "gentleman farmer", often returning back home to tend to his farm in between shooting for films. Why is this blog a thing? Because it has been a deeply saddening affair to watch Claude Rains get stricken down during various polls (and we mean every. single. one. [although, we had a grand Round One victory over on @vintagetvstars!]) and we feel he deserves to win something! Also, this blog hopes to bring more recognition to his great work! We'd also like to thank @hotvintagepoll for directly inspiring us to create this blog and if you haven't already, please go check them out!

Who should I vote for? We are judging the portrayal of the character here, not the characters themselves. Claude played a lot of baddies (some worse than others) but we are not judging how good or bad a character is morally, only on the portrayal. Who will be the winner? That's up to you! Which of these Claudes deserves to be crowned the King of them all? What makes them the King in your eyes?

How can I submit propaganda? Before the tournament starts, we will be accepting propaganda through a Google Form and we will be accepting written and visual propaganda(pictures, GIFs, and video clips) to go along with each character. We're also only looking for propaganda from the particular film a character is in, but we're open to headshots/professional stills from the time it was filmed! Please only submit propaganda for one character at a time and don't hesitate to send in multiple submissions! We'd like for each character to have propaganda, so go nuts in your submissions! Tell us why you think your Claude should be crowned King of the Claudes! Again, we are not looking for character submissions, only propaganda for that character! Don't fret, every Claude from a film will be submitted! Here is a list of all the possible characters to send propaganda in for!

Additional Propaganda? We encourage additional propaganda through our ask system or by tagging us @kingoftheclaudes. As previously stated, we will only be accepting/boosting propaganda from Mr. Rains' film career, so no GIFs from his various Alfred Hitchcock Presents or radio snippets from his various Lux Radio Theatre broadcasts. We also tag each film and each Claude in an effort to make things easier when searching through the taglist.

These polls are mean to be short 'n sweet (much like Mr. Rains!) and not meant to be taken seriously! We just want to have a good time enjoying the many works of Claude Rains and all views expressed in propaganda and tags are not our own!

The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, November 10th (coincidentally[or perhaps, not] Claude Rains' birthday!) and will compile of 27 matchups of 54 characters (since the character of Adam Lemp appears in three movies [Four Daughters, Four Wives, and Four Mothers], we are combining all his appearances into one and, contrary to Wikipedia's listing, Mr. Rains did not provide the voice of Jacob Marley in Scrooge. We are also opting to omit the character of Clarkis from Build Thy House, since there is limited knowledge on the film available, as well as omitting the character of The Mayor from The Pied Piper of Hamelin, since despite it later being released in theatres, it debuted as a TV special). We're tentatively planning on scheduling 5 polls a week to make this tournament last longer and each poll will run for one week!

What happens after the polls end and the crown is handed off? We may be open to doing a series of mini-polls, such as 'Best Father', 'Best Villain', 'The Battle for Science', 'King of TV Land' and 'Historical King of the Claudes' among some others. If you have some more ideas, let us know!

Kinda going off of your whole process behind matchups, but what do you think the ideal personality would be for some of the survivors (Alice, Norton, Eli, Naib, or whoever else you choose!) Like, what would they want/need in a partner? I feel like some of them could work well with a variety of personality types tbh…

I don't want to give EVERYTHING way 🤭so these are a bit short. I'm also not super familiar with Alice yet, so her's are a bit more superficial. Added Andrew!

Norton

-HAS to be with someone who respects his alone-time. He does better with someone who’s overall not that clingy, but at the very least you need to be able to let him go when he says he needs space. When he asks for that, it’s largely because he’s nervous about hurting you when he’s not fully in control of his emotions.

-He can’t be with someone rich. If he was, there’s a very good chance he doesn’t have genuine feelings for them. There is a small exception to this in the manor, because it’s something of an equalizer and money doesn’t help anyone here. But outside? Norton (Aus excluded) is always going to be a frugal thrift-er, and he’d be easily annoyed by someone who blows their money like it grows on trees.

-He does better with fellow introverts too. He can do group stuff sometimes, but he prefers intimate, not-noisy environments. He’s spent most of his life alone so big events, public activities, and big social groups just feel foreign to him.

Naib

-The main thing for Naib is you not being a nosey nancy. Especially outside of the manor, he needs a partner who isn’t going to ask questions about what he does for work. He brings home the bacon and that’s got to be enough for you.

-It’s also better for him to be with someone who doesn’t mind his paranoid protectiveness. As much as he wants you to stay out of his business, he wants to be IN yours. Not to be controlling, but so he’s always prepared to come running if something happens. He can live without this trait in a partner, but it will be a constant point of tension if you don’t like it.

-Otherwise, Naib can get along with just about anyone who treats him decently. He sees the appeal in several personality types.

Eli

-Eli also works with many different types of people! He’s a very patient and calm man who makes and effort to understand everyone’s actions and opinions. The only people I straight-up can’t see him being with are those who intentionally try to bring out negative emotions as tests or pranks. He enjoys some light teasing, but if you try to rile him up or make him jealous, he’s just going to disengage from you because that’s blatantly unkind. He wants to foster good-vibes only with his partner.

-He does very much like skinship, though, so it’s best if his partner likes both giving and receiving Physical Touch as a love language.

-He’s a lot more likely to be sweet on someone who’s kind and generous. And he’s very intuitive, so he knows when this is genuine…if you’re faking it to manipulate/get in his good graces.

Alice

-As a journalist, she needs a partner who can keep their mouth shut. Like, you’re more than welcome to gossip TO HER. But she literally pays her bills by being nosey, and exclusivity of information is part of that. So don’t share things you learn from her…but DO share things you learn from others with her.

-She’s brave to a fault. Like Alice sometimes genuinely does not sense danger sometimes, so she would appreciate a partner who looks out for her when she can’t do it herself.

Andrew

-You have to be open-minded and nonjudgemental. He’s been treated poorly most of his life because of how he looks, and if he sees you treating other people with similar backstories well, his opinion of you skyrockets. (even though he won’t make it known for some time.) If you gossip to him about other people’s superficial stuff, kiss your relationship goodbye.

-Does best with someone patient and intuitive. He’s defensive and has an attitude, sometimes even without meaning to. He requires a lot of grace as far as overlooking the shit he says. His verbal communication will improve with time, and he will apologize for any slipups as his trust in you grows, but you have to be able to wait out the road bumps first.

-He also does better with a fellow introvert than an extrovert. For friendships, it doesn’t matter, but for a romantic partner he has more insecurities and concerns about you leaving him for someone else. If you like to spend a lot of time with other people, like being the center of attention, or feed on other’s approval, Andrew will have a harder time reigning in those thoughts that he’s not important to you.

I use they/them pronouns and I’m pansexual. my myers briggs type is INFJ and my star sign is taurus.

Im about 4’11..not to happy about it. I’m kind of introverted, and can be considered not a people person. I find life a little nihilistic. I’m into dressing in all black and taking a liking to gruesome and morbid things like slashers, analog horror, witchcraft, true crime, necromancy, anatomy, etc. I typically consider myself a "gorehound" ig. I also like to visit abandoned places just for fun, along with playing quite a few escape rooms. I just have a genuine comfort in the uncomfortable.

I’ve come to the conclusion I just scare people off. In reality, I’m intimidated by everyone around me and find it hard to start taking, which may or may not come off as rude to people.

when I become comfortable with someone I start to become really sarcastic and joke around with them with witty banter. most of my humor comes off really insulting, and I’m brutally honest, but I’ll apologize and say it’s a joke or I didn’t mean it if it becomes a problem. even though I do have a hard time understanding physical social cues.

lots of people don’t like me or stay away from me because of my rude behavior. I’m not good with overly sensitive or overly annoying people at all because of that, and I can’t stand kids. Idiocy can get on my nerves too sometimes. I’m a huge animal person though. I have my moments where I can get really feisty, or very quiet and closed off. I’ve been told I’m also a laidback person. I’ve also been told I never know when to quit, and I find I hold grudges for certain things.

I’m the type of person that has lots of opinions on things but I keep them to myself and bottle them up. If pushed far enough I’ll become unforgiving, and aggressive. especially with the types mentioned above.

I find the most comfort in just being in my room drawing, listening to music ( pierce the veil, deftones, system of a down, slipknot, rob zombie,,, sometimes radiohead, insane clown posse, jazmin bean or mother mother, etc. ), or even occasionally playing video games, reading, writing, or talking about a random conspiracy theory I have. I do acting in my spare time as a small hobby too, and I’m learning how to play electric guitar.

I’m a plushie maniac and when I fall asleep you can always see me cuddled up to one of them. I find it because I’m really touch starved. I also have this specific blanket I can literally not sleep without. Im also a caffeine addict, and I’m guilty of being very submissive and maybe even masochistic- and a bit of a pyromaniac. I dissociate or daydream a lot, so you can often catch me starring.

I suffer from a handful off mental and physical syndromes like asd, insomnia, asthma, depression and anxiety. These have all been diagnosed professionally, and I’m definitely not trying to make myself "quirky". unfortunately health problems run in my family.

I’m very fidgety, and often bite the inside of my cheek or bounce my leg rapidly. you don’t need to rocmantasize this stuff ofc, but I think it’s good to know so the person can tolerate me.

Julie Joyful would love to have a partner like you! Her best friend is Frank Frankly, so it wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to add another grump into the mix. Unhappy and in the blues? You’re getting dragged into another one of her made-up-on-the-spot-games! Frank will try to run damage control, but you’re going to end up laughing with the sparkling joy it is to be around Julie!

A new Neighbor has been added to The Neighborhood, and it’s a gloomy bat puppet! You’re often secluded on the edge of The Neighborhood nestled right at the crest of the woods surrounding The Neighborhood in a cryptic cottage and was introduced just in time for Halloween! Unfortunately, no one was bold enough to try and approach you and your unsettling attitude, your terrifying demeanor, your intense glares… Except Julie Joyful of course! She thought it was a game and immediately dragged your booty out of your cottage to play bowling hopscotch with Sally and Frank, which both were immediately scared of just how oblivious Julie could be when she thought it was another game to win! Luckily, this allowed your relationship to blossom forth and create an intense emotional bond between the two of you!

Julie loves to play, play, and play! If you have any active games from your personal hobbies, she would adore to learn and how to play them. This is good for a few reasons, mostly because you can set the rules and Julie will follow them to the T! Even foraging for wild flowers and herbs in the nearby forest will be a game she plans to win, though you often show her going slow and steady wins the race.

Julie, more often than not, ends up tuckered out playing her own games and watches you doing whatever little thing you’re doing, whether it be witchcraft or reading your necromancy books, she just enjoys spending time with her favorite person. She’ll even want to get in to playing the analog horror videos with you too, though expect a few scared shaking cuddles while you’re at it.

She will make plushie forts out your plushies and you will have a plushie war with them. It’s not even an if, it’s a when. Be prepared to have your entire day derailed when she gets ahold of them for more than an hour.

Sometimes you can’t do much other than dissociate, functioning effectively through life is tough. Even Julie can’t pull you out of those trances sometimes. What she does, instead, is she’ll do quiet activities nearby you. Julie refuses to let you out of her sight as well, wanting to make sure you’re doing alright once you come out of your dissociation. Whether she’s styling hair, coloring a color book, or even reading your books stacked nearby, she won’t leave you. She’ll start leaving her flowers around your place so they can keep an eye on you, letting her know the next time you wander nearby them. She worries about the times she can’t take care of you for all the times you take care of her energy.

Loves it when you play your electric guitar for her, loves how the sounds of the strings make her feel like she could make games to this depending on the best of the tune. Julie will always beg you to play if you’re feeling well enough to pluck away at the chords. If not, she’ll buy you more strings and guitar picks to match your aesthetic (the picks only if you use them of course)

She now has to avoid certain Neighbors in The Neighborhood, especially if you’re currently beefing with them because the messed around with you and were finding out what that meant with you. Especially Barnaby, he did not know when to stop and you certainly didn’t mind showing him what’s good. She had to go get Eddie and Howdy to pull you guys apart once you started brawling with him because he insulted your beautiful Julie over a joke she made trying to connect with him. That was intolerable and you even were nice enough to call him out and insist he give an apology or else. He left that fight with more spots than he came with after you pummeled him. Julie was grateful you called him out on being mean, but that did not mean you needing to bruise up Barnaby. You were lucky Wally wasn’t there to witness it outright…

While you and Julie are on different energy spectrums, you both still draw each other in completely and entirely. You show people their inner darkness while bubbly Julie shows them their inner light! You draw in the quiet and slow and peace while she brings the fast and chaotic. While she’s a slight people pleaser, you are not tolerable of other people’s issues with the two of you. You often enjoy spending time together regardless if you’re both present for it or not. You wouldn’t choose another sun to rise with.

Marksman, or Maple Linwood, by her name you can already tell shes supposed to be like sniper, unlike him thoo, she uses a crossbow as a main weapon! (With the Karambit knife being her melee)

Traits? Shes sassy and sometime to the point person, but hey when she can shes like the mother of the group shes supposed to be a 10th class of the team, supporting sniper's job somewhat I never really tried to do these type of stuff, so I thought it'll be fun to join in! Uhm she shld win bc shes cool an allat /JOKE

Lore? Nothing much, shes just a child from a famous fashion designer, running away from home (after so much neglect from her mom)

How does she interact? Shes close to sniper (Ill give you exactly 5 sec to guess why), but she mostly have fun around them, they made her felt more welcome as a family than her mother can…, seeing Heavy as a father figure, and maybe close with Engineer (as friends) They were supposed to be like Sniper, in a way that her job was supposed to help his job easier (ending up in sniper and marksman on a rivalry, before they go and kiss eachother or smthn)
