#scary #well only fcertain things.. i DO like being independent with a lot of stuff #but. this is about seeing my dads family again #bc my mom and sister both will never go to any of the get togethers or talk to them at all and havent in years #and i dont want to just?? lose contact with them all forever but i also get nervous about it like about seeing them but gaaahh #plus in addition to questions about my life they always ask me about my mom and sister and i have to answer for them too since they wont #ever see them #Like how did i become the family diplomat i am literally the worst with social skills in my immediate family and the youngest Come on #im the baby come on.#but its been like this for years now and not gotten any easier I DO LOVE my extended family thats why i still do this but #its aaalwwaayysss such a nervewracking thing bc i feel SOO AWKWARD and i dont know how to talk to people #and im more nervous than ever bc of the school thing. Much harder to seem like u have ur life together once ur 18 and 'should' be doing #certain things or having certain plans #or should have accomplished certain things #by now.. ie graduating #i just really hope my grandpa doesnt show up or if he does that he doesnt ask about school stuff #GODDDDDDDDDDDD #sorry im just so abysmally bad at being or feeling normal in social situations

"Soulmate" Mark Idea

Soulmate marks are an interesting idea, but why should the marks only tell you about a soulmate? Why not something else?

Imagine an AU where everyone has a mark indicating the person who will have the greatest impact on their life. This mark can change as a person goes through different stages of life or remain the same.

Babies usually have a soulmark representing one of their parents, and parents their children. Soulmarks can switch between parents, or always stay the same, or represent people other than their parents.

In adulthood, the rate the mark changes tends to slow down, and the mark can represent lovers, close friends, bosses, a stranger who saves their life, a roommate, or anyone whose impact on their life will be profound.

Marks do not have to be mutual, nor do they have to represent a good impact. Mortal enemies can have mutual soulmarks. It can represent a landlord, someone who killed a loved one, a business rival, someone who starts a years long harassment campaign, an unhealthy obsession, a stalker, etc.

After an election, many people will find that their soulmark is the president/prime minister. These people are frequently sought out to help participate in reelection campaigns if the current administration significantly improved their living situation.

Murder investigations frequently look at the soulmark of the victim to check if it represents the killer.

You can tell a lot of soulmate stories with this premise, but with the added nuance that the "impact" of the person indicated by a soulmark isn't guaranteed to be good. You can also have an enemies to lovers story where the main characters think they know exactly what the soulmark means, so the "to lovers" part comes completely by surprise.

I think it would be cool if instead of telling you your "ideal partner" a soulmark basically told you "hey, you see this person? This person's going to make your life more interesting. How? Guess you'll find out!"

Lynton & Lynmouth fun 3/3; the Valley of Rocks, Exmoor. Literally one of the most beautiful places I've been to. There was a haze over the place today that obscured the horizon line between water and sky and made the channel seem endless. The rocks were stunning and wonderfully satisfying to climb.

#rl shit #we picked such a good day the water was breathtaking #but it was a little nervewracking to do this climbing and walking along a track #with an open drop down the side #but also...goats!! there were so many goats my loves #wonderful excellent 10/10 if you find yourself in the region well worth a visit #and so concludes my lovely day out thanks for listening
