In addition to my fc recruitment post here, I am also opening up to looking for an rp partner (in crime). It'll probably seem weird to anyone not seeking the same (and that's okay). No one is obligated to like my flavor of ice cream. Please note this isn't just looking for more rp partners to write with. I have a handful of awesome friends I'm already writing or planning writing with and won't be able to take on more casual rp until the fc plot is established. I am looking for someone who...

• might become my fc officer and co-captain.

• has interest in knowing / interacting (on some level) with my boys, platonic is fine, but I am leaning towards finding a ship for Thor at the very least, going forward. [No au, multi or poly interest, sorry!]

• enjoys mundane pve between rp. Leveling. Clearing quests etc.

• is active for rp/pve (at least) 3-5 days of the week.

• likes angst, fluff, combat, adventure, slice, piracy, far-eastern themes, western themes, bar, ship and such.

• doesn't mind discord rp for now but is eager for in-game rp once the ship is established and closer to 7.0.

Basically a friend, to hang out with me and my/your friends, but who'd like to take an rp place by the side of my char(s) and create these adventures with me.

Pirate

-Your character, a pirate, takes over an enemy ship/ransacks a local territory only to discover that they took a woman prisoner. Your character takes her aboard your ship, she keeps to herself, and doesn’t reveal much. Your character discovers that she is a princess on the run with a fairly large bounty over her head from the king if she is safely returned. Your character tries to return her to her kingdom in order to get the bounty but comes across many challenges along the way, including others who try to capture her to have the bounty instead, and the challenge of letting her go after slowly falling in love with her

what could be added: My character reveals she was on the run in hopes to gather allies in order to prevent a war between her kingdom and neighboring kingdom. She tries to negotiate with your pirate character, and tells him if he gives her safe passage to a couple more places to gain allies, then she will let him take her back to the kingdom, and double the bounty.

-My character, an elven woman, is not from your pirates realm, and is desperately trying to get home. After months of trying different ways to persuade someone to give her safe passage to a far away island that holds the key to open a portal to lead her back home, she finally tricks your pirate character into giving her safe passage. Little does she know, she’s not the only person who accidentally got sent through the portal to this realm. And it wasn’t on accident…

Medieval Fantasy

- Elves were thought to be long gone after the took there final stand alongside the humans in order to rid the world of the dark forces that threatened to take over. No one knows exactly why, they just know they disappeared shortly after the war, never to be seen again. Then one day, an elf ventures out of there kingdom, which has been hidden for long under a magical barrier they put up. She wanders in hopes to find a companion that will help her on her journey to help rid the darkness once more.

Western

-A group of marauders has been going around from town to town burning towns to the ground, and taking everything the people have. Your characters town is nearly next on the list, and he aims to put an end to it all. While seeking for help on his quest to get rid of the band marauders, he receives a letter from a well recommend mercenary for hire, saying that they will help. Days later the mercenary arrives into town, and your character discovers it’s not the mercenary he thought it to be. Rather it is a beautiful young lady from down south. But he soon discovers she’s much more than that, she’s actually all the help his town needs.

X-men Based

The first time she entered the borderlands was the same day she met her band mates, it was a rock concert, one her parents let her attended internationally in america. As the bands continued to appear on stage more and more fans shuffles in to watch them play, then only gunshots were heard, somehow Misaki ended up in the borderlands, playing strange games in order to stay alive, a few people she bonded with helping each other live and get back to the real world. She lost all memory of that place when she woke up in the hospital, sharing a room with strangers that felt oddly familiar. The nurse informed her she was one of the few lucky survivors of a large scale human stampede. Life returned to normal when she got home to Japan, a few of her fellow survivors, now best friends, followed her to Japan in their teen years where they formed their band. She grew up obsessed with western influence, specifically America's rock and roll culture. Motley Crue was one she listened to often, more than she should. It didn't take long after she graduated that she formed a band of her own, heavily inspired by motley Crue but with Japanese influences. The day they were supposed to have their first live sponsored performance she fell I'll and had to be hospitalized, the doctors said it was because her heart was weak. Her band mates drove to visit her, cancelling the show entirely but unfortunately they never made it. A drunk driver ran a stoplight , the large truck no match for the small car the lead guitarist had, the truck driver was the only survivor. The day she was released from the hospital was the same day she ended up in the borderlands, with nothing else to truly live for she started her own games becoming The Joker.

Since you seem to be litigating rpf right now and since you’ve been around awhile, I wanted to ask you about how it’s evolved, if you haven’t already talked about that? I’ve been in fandom for maybe 15ish years, and I remember reading a lot of rpf back then (when rps seemed like more common terminology), and I feel like there were more defined lines between fans and the real people they wrote about. A lot of “if you got here by googling yourself, go back” disclaimers vs the current culture where some fans seem to show the people or ask them about fic and art and other fan works. It’s like there was a culture of secrecy before where there was less of a desire for the fanworks to ever reach their subjects, rpf or otherwise. I think most rpf writers/creators still feel that way, but I see so many awkward interview panels where actors/etc are being asked about fanfic. Is this in my head, or is the shift real?

Heh. Well, I was never a fan of any boy bands or the like until bitten by the BTS bug. I didn't even know who BSB and NSYNC were at the height of their popularity. So I did not always have a front-row seat to RPF evolution, but as far as I know, it went something like this in English-speaking spaces:

Prehistory: 1960s magazines were full of "Your night on a date with [member of the Monkees]" type stories. Music RPF was floating around in various forms for a long, long time, though the m/m band member/band member stuff tended to be extremely locked down, often with the names replaced.

From Eroica with Love shows how horny everybody was for Led Zeppelin back then. I can only presume there were doujinshi of the members in Japanese, but I'm not really familiar with what was going on over there.

Idols & Visual Kei: English-speaking fandom of Asian groups was into RPF by the early 00s and perhaps before. I was tangentially aware of this stuff from being in anime fandom but wasn't interested because I wasn't into most of the music itself. (Also, this was the era of limewire computer viruses or paying like $60 to get a Japanese album legally in the US.)

Johnny's Entertainment fandom is what I associate with this, circa 2001. On the visual kei side, people were shipping Malice Mizer around then.

Godawful 2003 vampire movie Moon Child, starring Gackt (of Malice Mizer and solo fame) and Hyde of L'Arc~en~Ciel (yes, with a fucking tilde) did make people ship their characters but certainly did not dissuade people from shipping the guys themselves.

Popslash - Ye olde slash fandom converts: On the very, very Western side of things, all of the oldschool slashers started catching the RPF bug for "popslash" in the late 90s/early 00s. Prior to this, RPF was a HARD NO for much of this crowd and continued to be seen as a dirty secret. This umbrella term was intended for specifically BSB, NSYNC, and a few other pop stars, not just fic of any pop act. I don't know if people were calling it "RPS". I think they were just calling it "popslash", but I wasn't on the mailing lists and things. This was a pre-LJ era with that older infrastructure.

LOTR - Ye olde slash fandom converts again: Those that didn't get sucked in by popslash fell to LotRiPS when the Lord of the Rings movies came out in the early 00s. RPS was still seen as a shocking dirty secret before the advent of this fandom. Afterwards... people still hated it, but they'd realized there was no way to fully keep it out of their spaces. This also coincided with the move from the bajillions of LOTR (non RPF) archives with picky rules and mailing lists ruled with an iron fist to LJ with people's personal blogs full of their ungovernable wrong opinions and terrible taste in fandoms on display for all the world to see.

There was so much structured behind the scenes material for the LOTR movies that it formed a kind of canon of its own along with the press tours, and the actors were cuddly with each other. I don't think this is easy to understand now. Even the Hobbit movies didn't have this vibe, and there's so much more behind the scenes info and so many more youtube clips for everything now that the effect is much diminished. At the time, LOTR felt like a new era in sff franchise media.

There was tons of any two gu... um... somewhat generic hot porn, so even if you didn't care much for RPF, it became an attractive fandom. At this point, people were calling it "RPS", not "RPF", despite there being some femslash and het in the same spaces as all the Viggo/Orlando. The domlijah tinhats were notorious and did go bother the actors, I think?

The height of this fandom coincided with the height of cringey photomanips and "Why are their necks broken?" art with actors' faces on it. Fanartist The Theban Band was well known, though more for FPF than RPF. It's just that when you use the actual actors' faces, things tend to get conflated. Now, whether people started bothering most of the actors at the time in the early 00s, I don't know. Fanlore suggests that misuse of The Theban Band's art was already well underway in 2004. It's also often this stuff that Graham Norton bothers actors with years later.

It's not so much that fandom or RPF fandom changed at this point as that new people were into RPF who hadn't been before and much more importantly, the internet was changing. The level of access to actors and the level of awareness of online fandoms was changing radically around here. It changed again with Twitter and so forth, but this was still a major point in internet history.

Rockfic: "Rockfic" as seen on the Rockfic archive got started at some point. They meant Metallica, Bon Jovi, etc. I mostly know about them because there was beef between them and some of the popslash and bandom people around the time OTW was starting. (Popslash and bandom but not rockfic communities being well represented among OTW founders.)

Bandom: "Bandom" is another umbrella term with a general sound but a specific meaning. It was used for Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, and associated bands. This RPF fandom got big on LJ at the height of LJ fandom. It sucked in plenty of Western fandoms types who hadn't been into RPF before.

At the time, some of these bands and their associates weren't that famous, and they had personal Livejournals. It was not unusual for people peripherally involved with the actual people to be in the same spaces as the RPF. This was very much not appreciated by a lot of the fic authors. Band reactions seem to have varied between "yuck" and "Why doesn't anyone ship MEEEE? Don't you think I'M hot???" and other jokey lack of boundaries stuff.

A lot of the "Go away, X" disclaimers that sound like jokes are from this era and are due to some of these people actively going looking for the lulz.

Hockey - The final nail in the coffin for ye olde slash fandom: If the Popslash and LotRiPS waves didn't get people, Hockey did. After SGA, all the big slash writers that people follow from fandom to fandom seemed to be going to Hockey RPF.

Asianfanfics.com: Meanwhile, on the Asian media side of things, sites like Asianfanfics have been going strong for ages and are full of kpop rpf and the like.

Wattpad: Wattpad was the home of not only the Larries but of soooo much more Mary Sue/1D guy, and now Mary Sue/Jungkook.

How the boundaries are really depends on the era and the fandom.

The Rockfic archive used to make you pay a buck to sign up or something. It was extremely locked down, from what I remember, as you'd expect from a very old community writing m/m about macho bands.

The hockey people don't tend to be all up in players' faces because the players were mega, mega, mega famous long before the RPF fandom got big and because half the fandom doesn't even like sports: they're just there for the m/m AUs.

The Wattpad fandoms are a toxic hive of no boundaries and 13-year-olds posting their porn and too much personal info, but with fandoms as big as 1D or BTS, you can figure that plenty of individual people behave themselves.

Asking actors about fic in panels has become more common over the years, I think, though people have also learned to head it off better. I wouldn't say this is a RPF-specific phenomenon though.

Posting ads on discord: Admins are welcome to post in 3 - 5 separate channels at least 5 times a day. Please, do not spam the chat. 

Admins have access to a private channel where they can ask for support and help from other admins and moderators. 

React to the post in #Admin-check to be added to the private channel. 

Admins are allowed to have individual channels for their roleplay. Simply post your url in the correct chat and you will be allowed to post up to 5 times a day. These posts can be app counts, announcements or ads. If you abuse the system after two warnings you will be removed.

Days later the mercenary arrives into town, and your character discovers it’s not the mercenary he thought it to be. Rather it is a beautiful young lady from down south. But he soon discovers she’s much more than that, she’s actually all the help his town needs.

Today, unexpectedly, I prepared a list of things I hate about English phonetics, because I'm sick and tired (with all these, for restful death I cry).

L-sound. First of all, I have problems with its pronunciation in all languages I speak. Secondly, when it comes to the classification of consonants, it's always missing. Silly sound, neither a vowel nor a consonant, 0/10.

Sound modifications in connected speech. There are too many of them, you cannot memorise them all. But are supposed to. Good luck!

National and territorial pronunciation variants of English. It's my fav k-pop band, in case you didn't know. Here they are, look at this wonderful family: RP, GA, Gen Aus, Gen Can, Southern, Northern, Scottish, Northern Irish; Southern, Northern and Western American..

I see the classification of English sounds for the 33rd time in my life. On practice, I can only say that A is a vowel and B is a consonant.

Little Penguins are known from the coast of Australia and New Zealand

Physical Description: Little Penguins are some of the most adorable penguins alive today, and the reason is clear: they’re smol! Little Penguins range in size between 40 and 45 centimeters in length, and none weigh more than 2.1 kilograms. They are a blue-grey on their backs and white on their bellies and necks. They have very small flippers, which can be entirely blue or blue only in the center with white banding around it. They have short little tails and small feet, which are formed into lightly orange flippers. Their beaks are short and round, and either light in color or dark depending on the population. The juveniles tend to be a somewhat duller color than the adults, but usually very similar overall.

Diet: Little Penguins feed mainly on fish that form schools in the pelagic zone of the ocean (rather than closer to the coast). They’ll also feed on cephalopods and crustaceans.

Behavior: These nocturnal penguins will capture their food via pursuit-diving, mainly swimming around schools of fish in tighter and tighter circles until finally - woosh! - they dive into the middle and grab as much food as they can. In shallower water, they do pursue the fish more directly. They can dive as deep as 50 meters underwater, sometimes more - including 69 meters deep. They go up to 62 kilometers away from the nesting and sleeping colony sites, though they can usually only go a fraction of that in a single day and longer distances are reserved for multiple day trips. Females tend to forage more than the males. They feed alone, though they do forage in groups. They are extremely noisy in their colonies, making a variety of trills, brays, growls, grunts, yelping, trumpeting, and wailing sounds to one another. They do not migrate, but do stay near the breeding colony extensively during the moulting and nesting season. Juveniles will leave the colony for a large amount of time, but do eventually return to breed where they were born.

Little Penguins begin breeding in July and continue through December, though it varies from colony to colony and from year to year. They tend to stick to one nest site for their whole lives and are also fairly monogamous, though they do divorce from their partners around 76% of the time. If they are unsuccessful in raising any chicks one year, the next year they are more likely to divorce than not. The nests are made in a little bit far apart from one another in the colonie, usually a burrow in the sand lined with plant material. Usually two eggs are laid in the nest and are incubated for a little more than one month by both parents. The chicks hatch extremely fluffy and greyish-brown; they then molt to look dark brown and grey another month later. At this time young birds will form creches together for two more months, hanging out and learning from each other. They then fledge and become juveniles two more months later. They become sexually mature at two to four years of age, and can live for up to 20 years (though shorter is more common). The chicks and nesting colonies tend to feed at dusk.

Ecosystem: Little Penguins live mainly in sandy and rocky coasts, usually near the bases of cliffs and in sand dunes. They will spend most of their time in temperate to sub-arctic marine waters, many miles offshore. They are preyed upon by cats, dogs, rats, foxes, lizards, snakes, ferrets, stoats, seals, and some other ocean predators. They are mostly affected by introduced mammalian predators at this time.

Other: While Little Penguins are, overall, doing alright and are even common in terms of population  management; however, a number of human-created threats are affecting certain colonies and bringing many of them to the verge of collapse. Uncontrolled hunting by domesticated dogs and cats are major causes of colony destruction, as are oil spills, fishing interactions (including being caught in nets), human interference and development, as well as cullings by humans attempting to manage populations of other birds. As such, Little Penguins are of major interest for ecological groups in order to preserve their populations in light of these threats. Fossils of this species are known from its current range from the recent ice age.

  Horde of the Dragon Queen is part of the Tyranny of Dragons is set in the Forgotten Realms on Faerûn's western shore—the Sword Coast. A thin strip of civilization stretches down this coast, where widely spaced cities are arranged like beads on a string. A combination of roads and wagon tracks loosely connect the cities that stretch from Luskan in the north to Calimport in the south, passing through Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, and other great ports along the way. The bulk of this adventure takes place on the stretch between Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter.

The Cult of the Dragon, in an audacious bid for power, along with its dragon allies and the Red Wizards of Thay, seek to bring Tiamat from her prison in the Nine Hells to Faerûn. To this end, they are sweeping from town to town, laying waste to all those who oppose them and gathering a hoard of riches for their dread queen. The threat of annihilation has become so dire that groups as disparate as the Harpers and Zhentarim are banding together in the fight against the cult. Never before have heroes been so needed, will you heed the call and save the people of Faerûn? Grab your dice and strap in, lets go over a few things before we get you too excited!!

1) Cursing is allowed at my table, however in moderation. Should you design a fowl mouthed character by all mean RP that shit up all you like, but keep it relatively clean so as to not make other uncomfortable. 2) Be respectful of the time people spend in the spotlight, please try and keep talking over one another to a minimum. Granted we are all getting to know one another and over time we will develop a tempo that will nearly cut this down to non-existence. 3) Mic check, mi mi mi MIC CHECK! Let’s all face it at one time or another we've all been in a game and heard tons of background of another players Mic. This can and does diminish the fluidity of the game as well as people enjoyment. No one needs to hear you munching on cheetos between your round of combat! 4) This for the majority will run as rules as written, if you want to do something on the fly that kind of bends the rules but doesn't outright break them... Well let the RULE OF COOL Rule! Though it will be sparing, reserved for epic moments and not every session. I am fine with Rule lawyers, but once I made a call let it be and we can chat after the session as much as you like.

I have discovered the passion for storytelling and derive enjoyment from leading others through fantastic and memorable adventures. I am here to have as much fun and provide you an escape from reality and through you I took escape! Coming from a line of Pimps and Madams, she takes over the business with a firm yet brash demeanor, she's also shown to be very stingy and arrogant. She often puts on a show or introductions for the clients visiting her Brothel, meaning she also expresses flamboyancy and showmanship as well. 

Speaking of which, due to Levianta’s city state opening it's borders to the rest of the country, she often worries that her family's Brothel would be shut down due to the outcries of Leviantans(mostly the wives of their cheating Husbands) wanting to dismantle Tsumibara as Prostitution in Levianta is illegal. Despite pimping her workers though, she does have a soft side for them due to being a woman herself, having sympathy for her workers and their pasts that lead to them being sold to her family's brothel, as such she becomes furious and protective when her clients physically abuse her workers, she also doesn't tolerate clients not paying for services, cheating on their spouses or girl/boyfriends, and people blackmailing her.

Trivia: - She shares the same birthday and surname as her UTAU, Kasane Teto, she also shares the same given name as her voice provider; Oyamano Mayo.

- Like her UTAU, she's often confused for a teenager due to looking 15 but is actually 31.   - Her fashion was inspired by Kagamine Rin's Project Diva outfit for Yuuyu-P's Tengaku, but I changed her obi to a corset and her getas to pumps to give her a bit of a modern-western look after being inspired by Suzuhana Yuko(singer of Wagakki band)'s fashion, also it's to prevent her clients from confusing her for a courtesan since the obi tied in the front means you are one.

- Her entire character is inspired by the UTAU song and it's novel adaptation, "Yoshiwara Lament", by Asa feat. Kasane Teto and Oyamano Mayo, the protagonist(played by Teto) is named "Kasane" in the novel adaption.

- It's quite possible that she's a descendant of the Rangu Clan(or at least a relative from it) due to her resemblance to the Clan's 1st Matriarch, Chartette Langley, but it's currently unknown. - She and her family are close friends with the some of the members of the Gonzo Bloodline and it's Patriarch Thomas(Tom) Gonzo, but strictly forbids Mary Gonzo from going near her family's Brothel(or Tsumibara as a whole) due to being a Psychotic Lesbian Demon. She also doesn't give Gallerian Marlon any of her workers to him due to hearing rumors of his affair with Ma, in addition to being a corrupted Judge(not that he minds anyways since he hates going to Tsumibara), she also despises him for blackmailing her. - Humorously, she enjoys Lucifenian Bread(French Bread) and she believes Chimeras are real, which is a reference to Teto's character Item and Gender...I'm not joking, she identifies as a Chimera instead of Female.

Considering she's based on the song "Yoshiwara Lament", I might as well make her a Teto character. 

Fun fact: I just learned that Asa, the producer behind said song, is also the bassist for Wagakki Band, so the song pretty much belongs to them, just through Asa. Just like the VOCALOID songs done by Ryo of Supercell.

[TRANS] RP ONLINE: A Chinese popstar from Düsseldorf

Liu Yangyang is member of C-Pop group WayV – and he’s sweetheart of the German fans: He lived in Düsseldorf for six years and speaks German. Therewith, he’s the mediator between the worlds. 

When on “Japan Day”, thousands of lavishly dressed young people rush to Düsseldorf, the average citizen marvels on the sidelines and thinks: Man, how much love, dedication and energy manga fans put into their costumes. They dedicate themselves with passion to a culture, that most Germans remain strangers to. It’s similar when one allows oneself to dive into the fan scene of the Asian pop industry, for a few minutes, a few hours, or days. Whether it’s J-, K- or C-Pop (from Japan, Korea or China respectively) – German fans worship their idols from the other side of the world with a fever, that’s barely imaginable. Considering these idols are far from reachable. 

Most fans of Asian pop music can neither speak or read Chinese, Japanese or Korean. And most Asian pop artists don’t speak English. Fans help themselves with subtitles whenever available or online translators to find out what their idols speak or sing in their countless online videos. Almost like a miracle, they manage to navigate the complex world of the Asian pop scene. Which furthermore functions completely differently from the world of western pop music. The groups are bigger, the members running through really tough casting processes. They reach fame before they are even chosen; simultaneously the public receives only very selective pieces of information about them. Fans in Germany collect those pieces, share them on Twitter, Instagram or message boards. The world of Asia-Pop seems further away than the Japanese Ocean. 

But now heaven sent Yanyang to unite the worlds. A Chinese, who lived in Düsseldorf, speaks German. Member of the group WayV, one of seven, who got introduced to the public this January. 

“Yangyang, unser Ehrenmann, wir ‘supportieren’ dich!” fans wrote on Twitter – and therewith mixed together the German slang word of the year 2018 (‘Ehrenmann’) and Yangyang’s *Denglish (‘supportieren’ aka ‘support’). They call him **“Kaiser” and ***“Bretzelbruder”, fantasize over Yangyang loving condiment ‘Maggi’ and eating ****‘Döner’. All in euphoria over the fact that there is finally a C-Pop star, who speaks their language. “When he got revealed half a year before his debut, German Twitter collectively lost its mind,” tells Siham (21). “There was a true wow-effect.” 

Question at Label V, the management from WayV, whether it’d be possible to interview Yangyang. A series of negotiations follow via email, which drag on from February till May. Then, it lastly arrived: the precious Word-document with the (probably) world-exclusive first interview with popstar Yangyang with a German medium. (An interview via telephone got rejected by the management.)

He spent his teenage years in Düsseldorf, writes Yangyang. With 11 years he moved to the city with his mother and sister. He visited the international school in Neuss. “To be honest, I really miss going to school.” Before his debut he visited Düsseldorf up to two times a year. “But this year I haven’t managed yet.” He still hopes for an opportunity. “If you see me in the streets, please feel free to say Hello!” 

As a child he was already really into rapping and dancing, and 2016 he started the casting and training process for the group. Rap is his passion. Apart from that he also likes watching soccer and basketball – the latter being his favorite sport. 

He’s aware of the fact that German fans celebrate his existence with millions of Twitter accounts and some sort of secret language – even if he rarely ever directly responds to it. “I see the funny commentary by the fans very frequently,” he writes. “I always have to laugh out loud so that my band members have to ask what’s going on.” He made up the word ‘supportieren’, because he went to an international school and often tends to mix up German and English, he says. “The thing with *****‘Maggi’ I didn’t know about, however. I really appreciate the love and support from my fans.” 

If Yangyang and WayV were to come to Düsseldorf, the uproar would probably reach Ed Sheeran levels – at least amongst countless fans of the Asian scene, who already celebrate Japanese, Korean and Chinese culture in the midst of Düsseldorf. “We would be so excited to perform in Germany sometime,” writes Yangyang as he romanticizes about a tour. “To show the world that we are WayV.”
