finally watched Iphigenia (1977) and god, I have a normal amount of emotions about this
actually, lemme just
fuckin love that shot of Menelaus and Agamemnon getting ready, putting armor on, you can physically see those two be a unit, brothers who so deeply love each other. Their fight in the middle, them making amends again, they really go through it in the movie, love it so much.
and at the start, that moment of realisation for Agamemnon to What and Who he has to sacrifice, that scream of agony and pain when he understands that’s he’s already sent people out to bring the message, that it only needs a sacrifice for them to set sail. Him understanding that it’s too late, the soldiers are riled up, he can’t simply take it back, it’s so hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng
both Agamemnon and Clytemnestra tbh. Both their screams of agony, their pain, her anger and wrath at her husband, fuckin mwuah. just
“Are you going to kill your daughter?” with his screams of “I have no choice!” when confronted by said daughter and and Iphigenia, holy shit.
Her happiness, her shock, her fear and in the end, her fuckin grace. From the love she has for her family, her father, from the pain she has at the deception and her kneeling with her brother, crying out for him to save her while he screams that he can’t. Her backbone made of steel when the army marches towards her and you can see Clytemnestra and Achilles on fuckin edge but she calmly steps forward in the face of what feels like a country screaming for her death. Her speech at the end
“But how will I die? Only I will decide.”
and ahhhhhhhhhh I fuckin love Achilles here. That’s the hoteheaded, prideful and to the brim filled with emotions hero I love, that moment when Iphigenia gives her speech and him reassuring her that he’ll stay by her side till the end, that he’ll fight the whole army if it means trying to save her, fuckin hell
so yeah, love the movie

cant tell you how bad it feels to constantly tell other artists to come to tumblr, because its the last good website that isn't fucked up by spoonfeeding algorithms and AI bullshit and isn't based around meaningless likes
just to watch that all fall apart in the last year or so and especially the last two weeks
there's nowhere good to go anymore for artists.
edit - a lot of people are saying the tags are important so actually, you'll look at my tags.
#please dont delete your accounts because of the AI crap. your art deserves more than being lost like that #if you have a good PC please glaze or nightshade it. if you dont or it doesnt work with your style (like mine) please start watermarking #use a plain-ish font. make it your username. if people can't google what your watermark says and find ur account its not a good watermark #it needs to be central in the image - NOT on the canvas edges - and put it in multiple places if you are compelled #please dont stop posting your art because of this shit. we just have to hope regulations will come slamming down on these shitheads#in the next year or two and you want to have accounts to come back to. the world Needs real art #if we all leave that just makes more room for these scam artists to fill in with their soulless recycled garbage #improvise adapt overcome. it sucks but it is what it is for the moment. safeguard yourself as best you can without making #years of art from thousands of artists lost media. the digital world and art is too temporary to hastily click a Delete button out of spite

it wasn't until i watched the third episode that i realized how essential grover is as a character. he knew both percy and annabeth as individuals, before and during their journey into the godly world. he understands percy's devotion to his humanity and his inexperience with his godly side. notably, he also understands annabeth's devotion to her godly side and her inexperience with her humanity. so when these two inevitably get into arguments because of their opposing worldviews, he is the perfect mediator because he understands both of them. and no other character could have balanced these two out as well as he does. not even the books explicity address this significant detail, but the tv series does this in the third episode. gods, this show just gets better and better every week.

I think when people think of mental illness and what helps, especially with things like anxiety and depression, the treatment involves pushing yourself. Pushing yourself to get out of bed, to exercise, to take a shower, to go out in public, to order your own food from the cashier, etc.
And because the mental health movement has grown so much, people think that's the default of ALL illnesses. That the only way someone will get better is if they push themselves. That practice makes perfect. That you'll become more comfortable or strong over time the more you do something.
But what people need to realize is, with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses, pushing yourself in most cases is DETRIMENTAL. Pushing yourself past your limits can lead to flare ups or further injury. That's why it's important to know your limits, how certain activities may affect your condition, and learn how to either adapt or get help to complete the activity in question.
Also, most of us are already pushing ourselves. Most of us don't have access to the help or equipment we need. Most of us live in places where we frequently encounter inaccessible obstacles. Most of us NEED to rest.
So please don't try to be our physical therapists or doctors. There are people specifically trained to help us navigate our own conditions and limitations. There are people trained to help us strengthen our body's resilience without causing flare-ups or injury. Do not tell us "it'll be good for you" or "you need the exercise" when we say something is too heavy or too far or when we say we need our mobility aid(s). Your friend with depression may need to be encouraged to get out of bed, but your friend with chronic illness definitely doesn't.
Respect our rest.

………..OKAY listen I know this looks and sounds a bit weird but..like…just imagine ummm fantasy and medieval aesthetic but with robots? And like…there’s some kingdoms and wars….and knights, who’s supposed to fight evil.
And robo-demons and robo-dragons and robo-magic. You got the idea.
And in all this - Blurr is a knight who loves messing with questionable magic so one day he summons a demon. I mean. On purpose. To serve him and help him fight and stuff. He’s pretty good at forbidden dark magic and knows all he need to know to control this demon.
The thing he doesn’t know though - the creature he summoned was once a knight too. And much much more knowledgeable in dark magic than him~

Tasty art

I really do think this is the beginning of the end of Netflix book adaptations. What author is going to sign with Netflix over any of its competitors, knowing that they'll likely be cancelled early without closure? Or, even worse, that their story will be scripted but never made and the rights never sold on? Far better to accept a lower deal from a smaller streamer, but earn more publicity through more seasons and know that your story will be treated properly and see the light of day.
