Back to what i was saying I'm thinking of making it Ino/Sakura/Sai but it's more of "This is my girlfriend Sakura and her boyfriend Sai" my reasoning for this is when Ino witnessed Sasuke pull that guys arms out the socket as a kid it traumatized her, made her scared of him and Sai apparently looks like Sasuke, they were saying he looked like Sasuke a little bit in the anime if i remember correctly. it just creeps her out. I don't think Ino really ever liked Sasuke she just liked him cause that's what was cool when she was a kid so the whole rivalry with Sakura was just built on that idea. I was rewatching some scenes and i think, ok i gotta back track a little bit. I headcanon Ino's famliy is the most chill with same-sex stuff, so like if their daughter was gay they wouldn't mind. Ino puts this thinking in Sakura's head but Sakura's not as understanding as a kid and thinking it's weird cause different households (Not saying her parents were homophobic, it's just never been brought up to her before) Ino finally realizes she's in love with Sakura after she comes to her rescue when he hair gets cut that's the whole of what i wanted to say. So from that point on Ino likes Sakura, Sakura still has her feelings for Sasuke and Naruto's crush on Sakura has gone. I noticed he still asked her on dates but ultimately before and after Sasuke leaves it really hits Naruto that Sakura holds something special to Sasuke. Tsunade even notices it when she watches him leave the room to give them a moment after she heals him, Naruto walks out the room and says he wants her to look at Lee but his body language said "Oh im not needed here" and his feelings looked a little hurt. Another thing Neji developing a crush on Shikamaru before and during the timeskip because those two are the smartest in the group meaning they must work together alot even if they weren't in the same squad, Chunin Neji and Chunin Shikamaru being paired up alot is something i look at with shining eyes. But Neji, he notices Shikamaru's crush on Naruto so backs off, this leads him to back to Lee cause i'm a huge Neji/Lee shipper as well. She has a crush on Naruto yes, after him being away for so long she has time to work on herself and find herself more. She does like him but it isn't what's going to make her happy. It isn't because i don't like Naruto/Hinata it's cute it's alright but it doesn't make sense even if i haven't seen the movies or episodes that show it. I feel like Hinata needs to do some self reflecting. Naruto is a huge inspiration to her, she's watched him train, become who he is but those two with a family together isn't something i can see happening even if it canonly happened, when i first got into this i didn't see it coming. So in my story Hinata is happy living her best life being single, watching her friends be happy together has brought her so much peace, even watching Naruto be happy with Shikamaru. (I wanna plan a talk she has with Shikamaru about his crush on Naruto and them discussing their feelings about Naruto so Shikamaru doesn't feel like he just took Naruto from her since from his point of view it looks like she liked him first but Shikamaru's had a crush on Naruto since he meet him, Shikamaru met Naruto first. ) I also have an idea of Hinata just wanting to be a single mother in Boruto, and Naruto/Shikamaru adopting and teaching a orphan both their Jutsu's turbsdfuvbhrsu IT'LL BE SO CUTE

I feel pretty neutral about Sai/Ino, not because I think they are madly in love or anything but in Boruto I like the dynamic I saw of them, plus inojin is my favorite kid so I'm biased here… But I'm also super down for a Sai/Sakura/Ino, with mostly Sakura being the bridge between them!!!

For me, Ino would be a lesbian who had to deal with a lot of compulsory heterosexuality, so she forced herself to have a crush on Sasuke when they were kids because that's just what girls are supposed to do, but after a small breakdown after a fight with sakura she talks to her parents and surprisingly it's them that tell her that she might have a crush on her and they tell her that it's okay if she feels that way and that there is nothing wrong with her.

I think it's pretty accurate that Sakura would be a little reluctant to accept that, but eventually, she does understand that she's bisexual and things become a little easier for her to figure out what she wants and who she wants to be! [Discovering non-monogamy/polyamory is a whole other can of worms so I'm not gonna get into that here unless you want me to!!]

I'M SO GLAD YOU BROUGHT UP NEJI AND SHIKAMARU. Okay I know they're not your main pairing but a few years ago I read a fic of them that to this day has a place in my brain, I will leave linked it here if you're interested

But yes, for our shikanaru endgame purpose, Neji is very perceptive so he kind of always knew he never really had a chance here, he backs off, and eventually, his feelings for someone else grow which is how we get to neji/lee!!

But I also really like your take on her talking it out with shikamaru and realizing that her feelings for Naruto lean more toward admiration than actual romantic love, would love for her to have a happy life, would also really adore seeing her become the head of the Hyuuga clan and start making the changes Naruto promised Neji he would do it (and he never actually did it)!!

thanks so much for your question....for me personally SasuSaku feels as if pushed ...I feel its a fanservice. Nothing more. I call it the irony pairing. I dont consider them husband and wife ..since they did not have a official wedding. Like Naruto and Hinata had! Sakura has gotten what she feared the most ..and why she ..in my opinion ..did choose Sasuke! Yes ..I get it ..she likes him still because he is cool and such. But ..I feel ..that the main purpose why Sakura has chosen Sasuke is ..what Kakashi has said to Sasuke at the end of the great fourth Ninja war. Yes ...exactly ..she does not want to win his heart over ...but she wants to save him. She has chosen him out of fear of loosing him again ..and out of fear ..that he could choose the dark path again. That is what I am convinced of. Kakashi knows Sakura so well ..it baffles me ..to be honest! And that is also why I believe that she is so important to him! Dont know what Kishi had in mind. But for me there is no doubt. If a man ..can read a woman so well ...understands her ...this is ..a sign ..that he loves her ..cares for her. Sakura spent 10 to 12 years ..mostly alone ...and Sasuke has helped the Hokage and the village ...from outside. Sasuke prefered loneliness over his family and his relationship with Sakura. -everyone (literally EVERYONE) was looking at you two but you just laughed and placed a hand in his hair (which, holy fuck, is soft)

-you mouthed an apology to suga and he shrugged you off, and focused your attention back on the boy in front of you

he pulled back just enough to look at you, leaving his hands to rest on your back. his eyes were filled with tears (cute) and he offered you a smile.

“you’re here” his voice was quiet, for once, but it didn’t have any lag this time. and it was so fucking beautiful.

“i’m here.” you nodded, eyes scanning the features of his face. he chuckled lightly, a tear falling to his cheek as he shook his head.

“Are you mad?” he questions, a teasing smirk playing on his lips as his large frame towers over yours. 

“Yes!”

“Good, then my work here is done. See you at practice!” 

He’s gone before you have a chance to reply, disappearing down the crowded hallway of Karasuno High. 

“Asshole,” you mutter under your breath. 

When you agreed to be the manager for the boy’s volleyball club, you didn’t imagine that you’d have to put up with someone as insufferable as Tsukishima Kei. Yes, insufferable. That’s what you tell yourself, ignoring the nagging voice in the back of your mind.

If he’s so unbearable, then why do you look forward to seeing him? Why do you eagerly anticipate the banter that usually leaves the two of you smiling, in spite of the harsh words being shared?

Maybe it’s because, in between those moments, there are times when Tsukishima is oddly sweet toward you. When he heard you did poorly on one of your quizzes, he offered to help you prepare for the next one. When you complained about being hungry at practice because you forgot to bring a snack, he shared his own with you. When he caught you shivering one chilly morning, he slipped his scarf around your neck, ignoring your protests that he would be cold. 

You always brush this off, disregarding the weird feeling that bubbles up in your stomach whenever it happens. It doesn’t mean anything... right? It’s no secret that Tsukishima is popular with the girls at Karasuno. He can have anyone he wants, really, so why would he want you?

You can’t help but compare yourself to the the girls you see slipping notes into his locker or hanging around the gym to talk to him before practice. They’re all tall and slender, their manners mild and gentle--- the opposite of you. You occasionally notice Tsukishima reading their notes or chatting with them at his locker. You assume that must mean he’s interested in them, so you bury your own feelings, trying your best to convince yourself that you do in fact find him unbearable. 

When you arrive at practice later that day, it’s already in full swing, as you’re running few minutes late. Letting your bag drop from your shoulder, you begin to situate yourself, grabbing your clipboard and pen. 

“It’s not that hard! Just hit the ball like wham then it goes down like baboom!” 

You look over to your left to see Tsukishima and Hinata talking, the taller of the two staring down at the other with an unimpressed look.

“Yeah, it’s just that easy!” you exclaim, butting into their conversation even though you know Hinata’s explanation is nonsense, “The bar is so low, yet somehow you still can’t reach it.” 

“This again?” he retorts, rolling his eyes, “Why are you always trying to argue with someone who is clearly smarter than you?” 

You’re unfazed by his comeback, not even bothering to look up from the clipboard in your hands. A small chuckle escapes you, smugness present on your features. 

“Look, Tsukishima. If you’re in love with me, just say that. All this back and forth is unnecessary.” 

Because you’re looking away, you miss the pink that tints his cheeks, but Hinata certainly does not. 

“Guys! Tsukishima’s blushing!” he announces to the rest of the team. 

“O-ho, so he does have feelings! They’re just for (Y/N)!” 

“(Y/N) and Tsukki sitting in a-” Nishinoya begins before Tsukishima gives him a light shove. 

“Shut up,” he grumbles out, “What are you? Four?” 

Your heart clenches in your chest and you refuse to look up, not wanting to see whatever expression he’s wearing. Disgust? Annoyance? You’d rather not know. A sad feeling washes over you, insecurity creeping it’s way into your mind. You curse yourself for having said anything at all. 

The rest of practice passes by without any more incidents and you’re thankful once coach dismisses everyone. Throwing your jacket on, you make your way out of the gym and start on your long trek home. 

“Hey, wait up!” Tsukishima calls out, jogging to catch up to you, “About earlier-” 

“Don’t even worry about it, I know it wasn’t true or anything.” 

Tsukishima falls into step beside you, walking with you even though his house is in the other direction. 

“What makes you think that?” he inquires, furrowing his eyebrows. 

You feel your throat tighten, so you gulp nervously in an attempt to suppress your emotions. 

“Don’t you like one of the girls you’re always hanging around with? They seem like your type.”

He scrunches up his face at the thought, “What? No. They just kind of follow me around sometimes.” He lets out a small laugh, anxiously scratching the back of his neck, “To be honest, you’re more my type.” 

You huff, your eyes welling up with tears as you mistake his nervous laugh for one of jest, “Look, I’m sorry, but I’m just not in the mood to joke around right now, Tsukki.” 

He grabs you by the wrist, stopping you in your tracks. Gazing down at you with soft eyes, his heart sinks when he sees a tear slip down your cheek. 

“I’m not joking, (Y/N). I like you.” 

You study his face, looking for any sign of insincerity. Finding none, you let out a shaky breath. 

“You do?” you whisper. 

He hums, “Still don’t believe me?” 

You don’t say anything, wringing your hands together uneasily. You spent all this time convincing yourself that Tsukishima didn’t like you in that way, it’s hard to believe it now, even when he’s standing before you, telling you that he does.

“Want me to prove it?” he asks, a ghost of a smile on his lips. 

You nod and he leans down, bending at the waist to accommodate the height difference between the two of you. His hand moves to your face, cradling your cheek in his large palm. When his lips meet yours, your eyes widen for a moment before they close and you melt into his touch. Eventually he pulls away, gauging your reaction. 

“Well? Now would be a good time to tell me if you like me too, you know.” 

You giggle, any of the previous apprehension you felt disappearing, “Yeah, Tsukki. I like you, too.”

I'm so sorry for the long ask, I'm just really curious about your thought process when writing Naruto and your opinion of the manga. Are there any other canon moments you've taken into account? I'm also sorry for giving you a list, I wanted to be clear with what I was referring to in terms of his manga characterisation.

it's been years since I read the manga (though I own the first 40-50 volumes lol) so I'll admit that I'm not a good source for manga specific things, however I do know of all of these instances you mention

I have always viewed Naruto as bi/pan!!! I've always seen him as the kind of person who has the ability to develope a crush on nearly everyone he meets, perfectly juxtaposed against Sasuke, who is very ace/aro in my mind and who can love basically just Naruto and Naruto alone, because Naruto is his deepest bond. naruto sees the good in people and admires them for it immensely, so i feel like he would easily form crushes (some more platonic than others). he craves love and attention from nearly everyone he meets. i dont discredit his attraction to girls. him saying Sakura looked the same after the time skip was just him being honest, but I don't think it meant he didn't view her as pretty or that he had stopped crushing on her- just that she looked the same. though I do think that he did vie for her attention because he was jealous of other people openly desiring Sasuke lol. but regardless, I don't deny that Naruto had a crush on her altogether. I think that it morphed into familial love, but it did have some base to it. he thought haku was prettier than Sakura, but he did think haku was a girl. and Sasuke himself has feminine features, so I'm sure he's a fan of other feminine looking people as well.

Naruto just has such disaster bisexual energy to me lol. he gets more flustered around guys than girls because he hasn't fully recognized what his feelings for them means because he isn't someone who actively self-reflects on why he feels the way he does. being gay doesnt appear to be very common in konoha, so i imagine there is some internalized homophobia he's dealing with that makes it all even worse. him remembering that Sasuke was his first kiss was a huge flood of emotions that he didn't know how to deal with, so he reacted the way his society would expect him to. but he uh. also got a nosebleed from it so clearly the memory was actually far from grossing him out lol

he feels the strongest for Sasuke, so he was rightfully sour towards someone replacing him on team 7. but let it be known:

his food is actually quite a bit better than he tells you it is

after eating, you’re usually sat on the edge of the bed for a while, before you’re finally able to stand up and start the day.

Ultimate Imposter:

They usually wake up super early, as they’re used to it taking hours for them to get ready each morning

they arent quite sure what to do with all the free time they have now that they don’t have to spend ages putting on a disguise

so they come knocking at your door

all they hear on the other end is a very tired sounding “come in”

they walk in to see you, still huddled up under your covers

you let them know that you’ve acctually been trying to get out of bed for a while now. 

they look at you for a second before excusing themselves, promising to be back as soon as they can

they come back with a tray piled high with all different kinds of breakfast foods

“Teruteru was in the kitchen and was kind enough to make you a breakfast.”

they leave it on the desk on your room and bring you small pieces of food every now and then, sat on the end of your bed just talking to you

after a while you start to get up and get the food for yourself

and soon enough, you’re walking back to the kitchen with them to return the tray.

Fyuhiko Kuzuryu:

he doesnt really understand whats so hard about waking up, surely you just stand up out of bed

he thinks you’re hurt the first time you tell him that you cant

once you’ve convinced him that your fine (which takes longer than you’d expect) he just kinda sits with you for a minute

he eventually stands up. 

“well, im not going to let you sit here and pity yourself, if you cant get yourself out of bed, i’ll just have to help.”

he tries to lift you at first, this does not go well. 

then he decides to take it one step at a time by helping you sit yourself up. 

he talks to you the whole time about all the things that he has to do today

turns out the clan expects a lot of him

gradually, bit by bit, you’re sitting on the edge of the bed, just listening to Fuyuhiko talk. 

eventually, he runs out of things to say

“well, im gonna go get breakfast, you coming S/O?”

you decide that you might as well, and it never even crosses your mind that he managed to get you up so effortlessly. 

Gundham Tanaka:

he thinks you’ve been cursed like sleeping beauty and instantly tries finding a spell that could break it

he also lets the devas help, though they mostly come up to you begging for attention, at least its keeping you awake

he tries spell after spell, marking different magic circles in the carpet with his feet and proclaiming all sorts of incantations

you know that theres no use in trying to tell him that it wont work, so you just watch him

he seems so focused and in his element, like he had been waiting for this moment for forever. 

after what seems like forever, he finally gives up.

“i have tried every spell i know, S/O. it seems that this curse is too powerful even for me to break

you assure him that its fine, you actually feel a bit more woken up, and ask if he wants to go get breakfast

it takes him until after you’ve eaten to realise that the spells worked.

Kazuichi Soda:

kazuichi isn't really one to remember things like knocking all the time

so when he comes barging into your cottage as you try to will yourself out of bed, it does startle you a bit 

“woah, S/O, are you like. okay? are you sick or something”

you reassure him that you arent sick, you just have trouble getting out of bed sometimes

surprisingly, he says he understands. some days it just feels like the days gonna suck, so you dont wanna go through with it.

“but if you never actually get up and try to make the day a good one, then how are you going to prove those feelings wrong?”

he does have a good point, but you’re still finding it difficult to summon up the energy

he decides that if you cant get out of bed, he’ll do it for you

before you can even protest hes picked you up and carried you outside

it’s embarrassing, as you can see other classmates on their way to the restaurant 

he is also readily showing Sonia how strong he is by making sure she can see the two of you. 

eventually you get him to put you down, telling him that you would get out of bed if it meant he never did that again.

Nagito Komaeda:

he fully understands, of course he does

he also understands that you wouldn't drag yourself out of bed for someone as worthless as him

but he starts telling you that you should do it for yourself. 

you’re a shining beacon of hope, and you shouldn't feel like you arent even worth getting out of bed. 

his speech, as usual, isn't very effective and leads into him just being self deprecating

but this time he get’s really deprecating

to the point that you are actually beginning to grow worried

you shoot up out of bed to give him a hug

“ah, S/O is finally awake. did my little motivational speech work then?

you tell him that he can think that if he wants, you just dont want him saying those things anymore

you remind him that he’s an ultimate too, no matter how insignificant his talent may seem

you decide to go grab breakfast together, if anything just so you can make sure that Nagito’s okay.

Nekomaru Nidai:

This man has so much energy

you arent even sure if its energy anymore, he might just be that loud.

you know that its him knocking right away and sleepily call for him to come in

“hey S/O. i didnt see you at the restaurant so i thought id come see if everything is alright

you say that yeah, you’re fine, you just cant really find the energy to get out of bed

he knows just the thing. yell.

he tells you that it doesnt matter what you yell, just yell something as loud as you can and the adrenaline will start rushing in no time. 

it takes you a minute to grow comfortable with the idea, but eventually you do loudly tell him good morning.

it turns into a game, you two just yelling good morning to each other

eventually you go from sitting up, to sitting on the edge of the bed, to full on standing and jumping up and down

he was right, the adrenaline really does come rushing

you both head to the restaurant laughing, you a little more smug now that you know the key to his energy

makki whined and again, you werent very familiar with them yet, but familiar enough to give them their hugs

ngl, you were attracted by how seemed to ooze talent and you leaned forward, wanting to get more of a look of him

ofc OIKAWA THREW A RIOT and he pulled you back, placing a hand on your thigh

you threantened but he let out a relieved chuckle

he placed a hand on top of your head and ruffled your hair, a smile on his face then bowed his head low

‘go on, then, y/n-chan. bonk oikawa-san’

you turned to share a bewildered look with yahaba and watari

‘no. because you asked me to, i wont. youre so weird, oikawa-san. wanting me to do weird things to you and being so confusing’

you mumbled cutely and oikawa bit his lip to contain his squeal but held your hand tighter

he whined but you punched his arm

you pointed and that was enough to distract him from you and towards the game

when his gaze was away, you gave him a worried glance

you heard from iwa that he was insecure and suffers from inferiority complex but you didnt know it was this bad

you were going to help him realize he was a great player and he is equal with everyone and no one is above him because hes talented and his hardwork makes up for those losses

when karasuno emerged as victors, the team stood up to make their leave and prepare for their own match but you strayed away, claiming you needed to use the bathroom

iwa gave you a suspicious glance

when they were finally out of sight, you ran down hallway and finally found the black-jacket team gathered by an entrance

it was hinata who noticed you and pointed at you, claiming you are the goddess seijoh manager

but you didnt mind and focused on the blueberry

‘kageyama-san?’

you heard iwa mention him and you figured it was his last name

the poor boy was stuttering and awkwardly nodding in greeting

but you clenched your fists

‘i might not be a professional or a volleyball enthusiast but oikawa-san recognizes your talent and he considers you a rival so i do too. kageyama-san, karasuno, we will defeat you. you will face oikawa-san and iwaizumi-san and mattsun-san and makki-san and the others and you will tremble at our strength so play with everything you got because no matter what, we will win. congratulations on your win with your match but i noticed you holding back on them. if i see you, karasuno, kageyama-san, not playing your best, you will face my wrath. keep that in mind.’
