checked errors expressed via sum-types is so good, especially if there's some species of inheritance for easy sum-type composition. I don't have to know what the hell any of the names mean but my coworkers can assign personal meaning to them, if I want to know what behavior triggers it I can just. yanno. ripgrep for throw @Error {whatever structured logging needs}
#would be nicer if there was a way to auto-reassociate sum types#the same way that safe coerce is basically 'fuk u u know what type i mean'#proposal for row types in haskell iirc is mostly a combination of not wanting to kill yourself when writing apis for 'idiomatic duck-typed'#json microservices where it can give you an int a string an undefined OR a null on error. and they all mean different things.#and also so you can write partial error handlers and you get good composition so as long as you handle all cases it typechecks

Microservices vs Monolith: Choosing the Right Architecture
Content: When developing software systems, architecture is one of the first and most impactful decisions. Two primary models dominate: monolithic applications and microservices architectures.
Monoliths consolidate all functions into a single unit, making them easier to build initially. However, they often become cumbersome as the codebase grows, making deployments riskier and updates slower.
Microservices, on the other hand, break applications into independent services that communicate over APIs. Each service is loosely coupled, allowing teams to work independently, use different tech stacks, and scale specific components without overhauling the entire system.
However, microservices come with their own challenges: higher complexity, the need for service orchestration, and potential for network latency.
Choosing between monolith and microservices depends largely on your team's size, project complexity, and long-term goals. Companies uses tools like Software Development assist in evaluating your needs to design the most appropriate architecture, balancing scalability with simplicity.
Ultimately, it’s not about trends—it’s about choosing what fits your project’s current and future states.
Before jumping into microservices, ensure your team masters clean modular design within a monolith first—it’ll make the transition smoother if/when you need it.

if my goal with this project was just "make a website" I would just slap together some html, css, and maybe a little bit of javascript for flair and call it a day. I'd probably be done in 2-3 days tops. but instead I have to practice and make myself "employable" and that means smashing together as many languages and frameworks and technologies as possible to show employers that I'm capable of everything they want and more. so I'm developing apis in java that fetch data from a postgres database using spring boot with authentication from spring security, while coding the front end in typescript via an angular project served by nginx with https support and cloudflare protection, with all of these microservices running in their own docker containers.
basically what that means is I get to spend very little time actually programming and a whole lot of time figuring out how the hell to make all these things play nice together - and let me tell you, they do NOT fucking want to.
but on the bright side, I do actually feel like I'm learning a lot by doing this, and hopefully by the time I'm done, I'll have something really cool that I can show off

Developers appreciate the Ruby framework because it provides a solid foundation upon which other website elements may be built. A custom-made website can greatly enhance your visibility on the web. If you're looking for a trustworthy web development company in India, go no further than Nivida Web Solutions.
Ruby on Rails' cutting-edge features, such as automatic table generation, database migrations, and view scaffolding, are a big reason for the framework's widespread adoption.
Key Features:
· MVC Structure
· Current Record
· Convention Over Configuration (CoC)
· Automatic Deployment
· The Boom of Mobile Apps
· Sharing Data in Databases
Node.js v/s RoR:
· Libraries:
The Rails package library is called the Ruby Gems. However, the Node.Js Node Package Manager (NPM) provides libraries and packages to help programmers avoid duplicating their work. Ruby Gems and NPM work together to make it easy to generate NPM packages with strict version control and straightforward installation.
· Performance:
Node.js' performance has been lauded for its speed. Node.js is the go-to framework for resource-intensive projects because of its ability to run asynchronous code and the fact that it is powered by Google's V8 engine. Ruby on Rails is 20 times less efficient than Node.js.
· Scalability:
Ruby's scalability is constrained by comparison to Node.js due to the latter's cluster module. In an abstraction-based cluster, the number of CPUs a process uses is based on the demands of the application.
· Architecture:
The Node.js ecosystem has a wealth of useful components, but JavaScript was never designed to handle backend activities and has significant constraints when it comes to cutting-edge construction strategies. Ruby on Rails, in contrast to Node.js, is a framework that aims to streamline the process of building out a website's infrastructure by eliminating frequent installation problems.
· The learning curve:
Ruby has a low barrier to entry since it is an easy language to learn. The learning curve with Node.js is considerably lower. JavaScript veterans will have the easiest time learning the language, but developers acquainted with various languages should have no trouble.
Final Thoughts:
Both Node.JS and RoR have been tried and tested in real-world scenarios. Ruby on Rails is great for fast-paced development teams, whereas Node.js excels at building real-time web apps and single-page applications.
