Thing's Rambles #1: Eggs
Eggs! You know them, you love them—at least I hope so, considering how awesome... Food?... They are. I think eggs are a category of their own. Ah, whatever, we're going out of topic.
(long shtick about eggs below, will bore u to death)
One of the reasons eggs, chicken eggs specifically, are so crucial to the past and modern day is because the birds who lay them can do so indefinitely as opposed to other birds who only lay a certain number at a time. So long as their nest is empty, presumably taken by predators (humans), then they can lay just about every day. In the industry, male chicks are basically useless, which results in a mass crush every day. Fortunately, scientists are working on changing the sex of the chick in the eggs. However, I don't know anything about that yet.
Speaking of eggs, a man somewhere in the 1970's conducted the '7 Country Study', his conclusion being that eggs raise the chances of CVD (cardiovascular disease, AKA heart attacks) by 17% due to the SatFat (saturated fat) and cholesterol. This, of course, raised panic and attention in the public, especially when the government set guidelines for saturated fat and cholesterol. While this link isn't necessarily 100% false, it is a clunking argument. Especially in comparison to the other study linking IR (insulin resistance) to CVD, which is also linked to high sugar and high carbohydrate consumption. And while it's still not an all-time cause, it's still true 90% of the time. Remember the '7 Country Study' I mentioned prior? It was actually conducted in 22 countries, except 15 of them proved to be against what the study was about, so he ditched them. What's even more baffling than this is that even after 50 years of study after study after study, these government guidelines are still in place. Eggs do not cause CVD, rather the exact opposite, and then some more.
I'm not completely sure what the nutrients that specifically fight against CVD are (mainly because they have unpronounceable names), but eggs still carry massive benefits for your skin, muscles, bones, organs, and even your brain! This is because of the many vitamins (especially vitamin B) and high protein. Time for the main part.
Laying it all out front, a whole egg contains: Vit A (has a part in yolk coloring), Vit E (good for the heart and skin), Vit K1, Vit B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, and Vit D. Those are just the vitamins. Eggs also contain DHA (omega 3), which is for the brain; folate for degenerative disease; choline to burn fat and help against fatty liver; and lutein and zeaxanthin, which are beneficial for your eyes.
And then protein—my favorite part. It's amazing, really, because of its ability to help build protein tissues and the percentage of egg protein made into our protein. In comparison, we get 17% of its protein from soy, 16% from whey, 32% from meat or fish, and a whopping 48% from eggs. You can really see the difference between egg yolk and egg white when you take into consideration that egg white's percentage is merely 17%.
Alright, so now that we know we get a lot of protein from eggs, what do we do with that protein?
Well, how it works is that when our body receives protein, it either invests it into tissues (skin, muscles, bones) or energy (glucose). The ratio of how much protein is invested in tissues to glucose is actually dependent on the meal from which the protein is extracted. For example, when you get protein from meat, 30% of that protein goes into the development of your skin, muscles, bones, joints, etc. (tissues), and 70% of the protein becomes glucose (energy). For eggs, it's 49% for tissues and 51% for glucose, ranking it as the highest rate of protein for tissues, but only after breastmilk, which is a whole different and fascinating discussion.
So far, we've talked about why chicken eggs are special, scandals against them, and the great yet still incomplete benefits of them. Lastly, we will talk about egg quality.
-Is the price difference between cheap and expensive eggs worth it?
Absolutely! You'll be getting more bang for your buck. In fact, some suggest that buying the cheap ones makes you gain 40–60% less worth.
-Types of eggs: Pasture eggs are definitely the best type. The others are free-range eggs and no-cage eggs, etc.; eh, most of these are just marketing terms anyway.
-Yolk color; do they matter? Well, yes, but actually, no. They do, sure, but you can't really be too sure since farmers are prone to using artificial coloring.
-Grades: grade B eggs, grade A eggs, and grade AA eggs. Do these actually matter?
No. Grades are mostly based on cosmetics, which can hardly matter much when you whisk them up for baking. Plus, your grocery eggs are probably already grade A eggs.
All in all, the quality of eggs depends on what the chickens are fed and if they're ethically raised, but you can't control those factors. But what can you control? The way the eggs themselves are prepared.
Dr. Berg suggests the best method is cracking the egg on a lit pan, waiting until the whites turn into their white color but not too much, and then scrambling them. This way, you can optimize how much nutrition and protein you can squeeze out of your egg. Too tedious? Just scramble them normally.
I think the best part of eggs, despite how beneficial they are, is how relatively cheap and accessible they are. Don'tcha think?
P.S. Remember that omega 3 I told you about? The one that's good for your brain? That's a good omega. What's not a good omega is omega 6, specifically the oil restaurants use to fry eggs and such. This one actually increases the risk of CVD.
Time for fun facts!
Fun fact: The egg white has no fat.
Fun fact: You can get 101% of the choline that your body needs in a day with just 4 eggs.
Fun fact: 90% (approximate guess) of the good stuff is in the yolks, so yeah, you're going to have to eat them.
Fun fact: This text is over a thousand words long! Congrats on reading that much!

Take a Taste: with Uncle John's Chili Con Empanada and Sprite Lemon Plus [Recorded: Mar 30th, 2024]
Hello! It’s time for another “Take a Taste”! The series is about delicious food with my two paper dolls.
Today, it's time to share my food thoughts from the past month of March 30th, 2024; "Black Saturday" on Holy Week 🙏✝️. Once again, I break the "Holy Week" ❌🥩 rules because I ate the Chili Con Empanada from Uncle John's (formerly named: "Ministop Philippines") 🌶️🥟, with a refreshing drink of Sprite Lemon Plus in a can 🍋🥫. So, how's it taste of the Empanada from Uncle John's? 🤔 Let's find out, right now.
If you haven’t seen my previous episode, then please click → [CLICK ME!].
IMPORTANT NOTE: No #OnThisDay throwback post for this date.
So, without further ado, let’s get started:
1st & 2nd Image(s) 📷📲: ↑
• It's morning, 7:50 AM 🕖. And I'm somewhere at random Uncle John's convenience store 🇵🇭🟦🟨🏪 branch with my parents and my related family members for paying a visit at our ancestral house. But before we depart, I haven't... or WE haven't eaten breakfast by the time we arrive. So, I decided to purchase a nice hot Chili Con Empanada 🌶️🥟 worth ₱35, and a nice refreshing Sprite Lemon Plus 🍋🥫. in a can worth ₱45 (₱33 in the original suggested retail price)? I'm not sure but, I haven't tried it yet, aside from the only default Sprite flavor. 🤔
Did you know #1: I remember drinking the limited edition of "Sprite Lebron's Mix"? Yup, a collaborate with NBA superstar, LeBron James and Sprite. Which, by the way, I don't know much about NBA nor watching NBA matches because I'm not a basketball fan. ❌🏀🤷‍♀️ Nevertheless, as far as I know, this one tastes like authentic cherry flavor fused with Sprite's flavor, and I was surprised that this flavor Sprite drink was so good, I wish it'll be returned, soon as a normal production rather than limited. Man, I missed it, so much. 🍋🍒🥫😃😋
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3rd to 6th Image(s) 📷📲: ↑
• Nonetheless, here's my first bite of the Chili Con Empanada. It is spicy yet very juicy with all the meaty goodness inside. 😃😋 But, is it hot though? 🤔 Nah, not at all. I can't help myself eating it, and I should order two Empanadas (of the same flavor). Here you two, want some? It is delicious! 😋
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
7th to 10th Image(s) 📷📲: ↑
• Now, what about the Sprite Lemon Plus? 🍋🥫🤔 For my taste, it's the same taste as the OG Sprite, unlike the "Lebron's Mix" cherry flavor. And if you want a take a peek at the color of the "Sprite Lemon Plus", I'd say it slightly yellowish blur color instead of the clear carbonate that we all know. To be honest, the appearance of the Lemon Plus is something that came out of dishwater with a dash of lemonade fruit that was squeezed in. I don't know, who knows? 🤷‍♀️ If only I had bought a glass to see the color, or maybe a plastic cup in my bag, or maybe I should it bought the plastic bottle format. 🤷‍♀️ Anyways, it says here that the "Sprite Lemon Plus" had a zesty lemon flavor, sharp fizz, caffeine, and vitamin B3. Yes, this Lemon Plus has indeed put "Caffeine" on a yellowish color carbonated drink. It's a Sprite with a little dash of Energy Drink, basically (I guess). 🍋⚡🥫 Looks like, I want a go another round of Sprite Lemon Plus, and see if I compare to the OG Sprite and the well-known Coca-Cola for the caffeine taste. Maybe, someday. 🤔
Did you know #2: That "Uncle John's" 🇵🇭🟦🟨🏪 convenience store used to be "MiniStop Philippines"? The latter was launched in 2000, until September 2022 owing to the death of former RRHI (that's "Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc.", by the way) founder John Gokongwei, Jr. ✝️🧑‍💼, as well as the ending partnership of "Ministop Co." and "Mitsubishi Corporation" of Japan 🇯🇵🏢. Thus, the entire branches of "MiniStop" Philippines are now renamed to "Uncle John's" already effected by July 1st, 2023. Meanwhile, the OG "Ministop" still operates today in selected Asian regions outside Japan like Kazakhstan 🇰🇿, South Korea 🇰🇷, Viet Nam 🇻🇳 (our neighbor Southeast Asia country), and China 🇨🇳.
Overall:
• It's a solid breakfast meal! I dig the Chili Con Empanada over the greasy chicken sandwich that I've tasted before, in my previous topic. 🌶️🥟😋👍 And regardless of my thoughts of Sprite Lemon Plus, it is pretty damn refreshing. 🍋⚡🥫😋👍 And as I said, I will do a comparison between the OG Sprite for the color, and the OG Coca-Cola as well for the caffeine effect, in my next topic. Yup, this is going to be a "Sugar Rush" of soda test, I suppose. 🥤
BTW: This WASN'T the only meal I munch on because I have another meal on the same date as before. So, stay tuned for that. 😉
Well, that's all for now. 😊

I did go to Sephora yesterday and the Internet wasn't lying or over exaggerating! I saw, in fact, MULTIPLE 8-12 year olds shopping there. although a lot/most of the actually youngest ones had parents trailing them.
specifically please pour one out for one dad trailing his preteen girls lmao. That man had the ultimate dad (or parent) expression that combined resigned exhaustion with supportiveness and searching bewilderment hoping for solidarity among adults. Or possibly rescue
.
Anyways one of them darted in front of me to reach/snatch at something she wanted because she was too nervous to say "excuse me," although I had already noticed her telling her mom what product she was looking for and was actively already stepping aside when she zoomed in to do this! I was making space and she literally was too excited to just wait three more seconds.
I mostly found the darting funny because she was clearly just afraid to talk to another person who wasn't her mom (nervous hand clasping, whispering to her mom's ear, hesitant hover back), but also like sweetie, your mom SHOULD encourage you to not snatch things or reach over people and say out loud "excuse me," even if it IS scary. I pre-emptively moved over when I saw what she was saying, she was just faster lol.
I will think on how to gently help them with this next time. I probably could've said something like "hey, it's okay to say excuse me so I can move over more for you! We can both look!"
This little girl DID open the box of what she was looking at which?? Why did her mom not tell her not to do that?? But she didn't unseal product.
Also this is what she wanted:
Tumblr media
For anyone fascinated/horrified by the phenomenon of pre-teen girls being sold absurd skincare standards by TikTok, but who doesn't know much about the products involved:
This is a watermelon glow face serum. Serum is basically liquidy topical skincare products. They're often used for a more concentrated delivery of an active ingredient in your skincare. A little can go a long way.
In this case, the serum is boosting in order: (1) niacinamide, which is a type of vitamin B3 that helps your skin build keratin (for firmness), and the natural lipid barrier which helps you retain moisture. It can also help with inflammation/redness/coloration (acne, eczema, hyperpigmentation). (2) literal watermelon extract which idk says it delivers amino acids and hydration in the marketing. It's probably harmless. It's a good add for marketing, Glow recipe does fruit themed products. And (3) hyaluronic acid which could sound scary but is just a humectant that helps prepare skin to receive moisture, like in your moisturizer. (Fair warning: a straight hyaluronic acid serum is not enough on its own if your skin is super dehydrated. It will make your skin go all shriveled if you don't add moisturizer and you were super dry to start with. Ask me how I know)
Basically this angel faced & clear skinned child absolutely did not need anything to help acne or redness, but in this case it's a harmless product that will also help her skin stay moisturized in winter. It's pricey for what it is, but it's not meant for mature skin only thankfully. Basically if I had to choose something from Glow Recipe (which has cute, colorful bottles and fun fruit themes) for a little kiddo, this lands in the harmless to their skin pile.
She got the mini size which is $20
Her skin absolutely doesn't need this product. This is about marketing performative femininity and anti-aging towards girls and women. From an "everyone has skin to care for," perspective, "watermelon pink juice moisturizer" by the same brand is more relevant. Or the blueberry cleanser.
(most of the actual teenagers said things like "excuse me" if they needed to pass by and weren't rude to me at all. Like actual teenagers sans guardians and I had lots of normal sorry, excuse me, go ahead interactions between us. They're NOT all aggressive and rude.)
Idk idk I have such mixed feelings. I know I cared about the onset of acne at 11, 12... I hated the feeling of breaking out, not even just from a social perspective but like, the sensory feeling it produces in your skin. I pick at it even when I shouldn't. I still hate it! But to have that anxiety compounded a bajillion times by social media would've sucked.

Is Sourdough Bread Good for Weight Loss? - A Healthier Choice
Sourdough bread, a staple in many cultures for centuries, has recently seen a resurgence in popularity. But beyond its unique taste and texture, there’s growing interest in its potential health benefits, particularly regarding weight loss. This report delves into the making of sourdough, its health and fermentation benefits, nutritional profile, and expert opinions to answer the question: Is sourdough bread good for weight loss?
Tea Burn™ Breakthrough in Weight Loss Support
Tumblr media
Making of Sourdough
Sourdough’s simplicity is one of its key attractions. Traditionally, it’s made from just three ingredients: flour, water, and salt. This simplicity is a stark contrast to many commercially produced breads that contain a plethora of additives. The slow fermentation process of sourdough, where natural yeasts and bacteria interact with the dough, is what sets it apart. This process not only imparts a distinct tangy flavor but also influences the bread’s health properties.
Odd Water Secret Melts Stubborn Fat
Sourdough Health Benefits
Sourdough’s health benefits are closely tied to its fermentation process. Priya Tew, an award-winning dietitian, explains, “Genuine sourdough bread can be more easily digested and can be lower in glycemic index than some shop-bought bread.” This lower glycemic index means sourdough doesn’t spike blood sugar levels as sharply as other breads, which is a crucial factor in weight management.
Gut Health: The fermentation process increases prebiotic and probiotic-like properties, which can improve gut health. Sourdough made with whole grains offers additional fiber, enhancing these gut-friendly benefits.
Digestion: Sourdough might improve the digestion of gluten due to changes in wheat enzymes during fermentation. While not suitable for people with celiac disease, those sensitive to gluten might find sourdough easier to digest.
Healthy Aging: Sourdough, a staple in the Mediterranean diet, is linked to healthy aging. It has antioxidant, anti-hypertensive, anti-diabetic, and FODMAP-reducing qualities.
Shrink X™ Powerful Pet Probiotic Formula
Sourdough Fermentation Benefits:
The fermentation process in sourdough bread leads to an increase in prebiotic and probiotic-like properties, which are beneficial for gut health. A 2021 review in the journal Microorganisms highlights this, noting that these properties help improve gut health. Additionally, the fermentation process enhances the bioavailability of nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, and iron, making them more accessible to the body.
Nutritional Profile:
A slice of sourdough bread typically contains about 84 calories, 16 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fiber, 3 grams of protein, and 1 gram of total fat. Laura Tilt, a registered dietitian, points out, “White sourdough is a source of carbohydrates, calcium, iron, vitamin B1, and B3, forming part of a healthy diet.” However, she advises opting for wholewheat varieties for higher fiber content.
Facts about Sourdough Bread
Historical Popularity Surge: Sourdough’s recent popularity isn’t just a modern trend. Its global market value skyrocketed from $298.7 million to a staggering $2.4 billion in 2018. This surge reflects a growing awareness and appreciation of sourdough’s unique qualities and health benefits.
Enhanced Taste with Health Benefits: The fermentation process in sourdough not only contributes to its health benefits but also enhances its taste. Priya Tew notes that fermentation produces amino acids that add extra flavor, despite a decreased salt content in the bread. This means you get a tasty bread that’s also good for you.
B12 Enrichment: The fermentation of plant-based foods like sourdough can lead to the enrichment of vitamin B12. This is particularly noteworthy since B12 is typically associated with animal-based foods, making sourdough a valuable addition to vegetarian diets.
Impact on Blood Sugar Levels: Sourdough bread’s fermentation process results in a lower glycemic index compared to regular bread. This means it has a less dramatic impact on blood sugar levels, making it a smarter choice for those managing diabetes or looking to maintain stable energy levels throughout the day.
Variety in Sourdough Types: The diversity of sourdough bread is vast. From traditional white sourdough to wholewheat and rye varieties, each type offers different nutritional benefits. For instance, rye sourdough is known for its higher fiber content, while traditional white sourdough is fortified with essential vitamins and minerals.
Expert Opinion of Sourdough Bread on Weight Loss:
Experts agree that sourdough can be part of a weight loss diet. Tilt reminds us, “All foods can be part of a weight loss diet; it’s about balance and portion size.” She suggests pairing sourdough with nutrient-dense foods like eggs or nut butter for a balanced meal. The high fiber content in sourdough, especially in wholegrain varieties, is linked to feeling full for longer, which is beneficial for weight management.

Yes, sourdough bread can be part of a weight-loss diet. Its high fiber content, especially in wholegrain varieties, helps you feel full longer, which can aid in managing calorie intake.
Is sourdough bread lower in calories than regular bread?
Sourdough bread’s calorie content is comparable to many other types of bread. However, its nutritional composition, particularly its lower glycemic index, makes it a healthier choice that can fit into a weight loss diet.
Does sourdough bread cause blood sugar spikes?
Sourdough bread has a lower glycemic index compared to many other breads, meaning it causes a slower and less dramatic rise in blood sugar levels. This makes it a suitable option for those managing blood sugar levels.
Can I eat sourdough bread every day if I’m trying to lose weight?
Yes, you can include sourdough bread in your daily diet while trying to lose weight. Remember, balance and portion control are key. Pairing it with nutrient-dense foods can make your meals more satisfying and nutritionally balanced.

Yes, the type of flour affects the nutritional content of sourdough bread. Wholegrain flours are higher in fiber and nutrients compared to refined flours, making them a better choice for weight loss.
Is sourdough bread gluten-free?
No, traditional sourdough bread is not gluten-free as it is made from wheat flour. However, the fermentation process can break down some of the gluten, making it easier to digest for those with mild gluten sensitivities, but it is not suitable for individuals with celiac disease.
Life Extension GEROPROTECT Stem Cell
Sourdough bread, with its unique fermentation process and nutritional profile, offers several health benefits that can support weight loss goals. Its lower glycemic index, coupled with a higher fiber content, especially in wholegrain varieties, makes it a healthier choice compared to many other breads. While sourdough alone isn’t a magic bullet for weight loss, it can be a valuable part of a balanced and nutrient-rich diet. Variety and moderation are key to a healthy diet and effective weight management.

"It's not so bad." Tom says. "It could be worse."
That's not very helpful. "Neurological damage doesn't go away. I'm going to have this for the rest of my life."

"It'll get better. I think it would help to do some physical therapy. And psychological therapy. And the vitamin and mineral deficiencies, that's easy! I mean it sucks that we didn't know before, but we know now. Oh, we should also take you to a dentist. What's wrong?"
Ema is ineffectively trying to blink back tears. "I thought I was going to be okay. I thought it was over." "But this is good! These things were wrong before, but now that we know about them we can fix them or make them better. Wouldn't it be worse if all those symptoms of deficiencies and damage and stuff were just how things were going to be for the rest of your life?"
Ema hates this. "I don't- I can't-" She takes a shuddering breath, afraid she'll start crying if she tries to talk more.
"It's okay. You're okay. I really think you should see a therapist though. I... don't know what to say to help you feel better."
Ema grips her hair tightly. She hates this, she hates this so much. "I don't want to go to therapy! I don't want to talk about it! I want it to be over!"
"I- I don't know- Ema, it's okay."
Ema is sobbing in earnest and Tom is getting annoyed with her. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
"You didn't do anything wrong. I just- I'm not good at this!"
He's mad at her he's mad at her-
"I- I think I'm making this worse, so I'm going to- to go. And then when you're feeling better we can talk about how I can, like, help you the next time you feel this way, okay?"
Tom waits for her to answer, but leaves when she doesn't, and Ema doesn't stop him. He's just in the other room, but it does help Ema feel better, which makes her feel a bit guilty. It's just easier when she can focus on calming herself down instead of trying to calm Tom down.
She feels so pathetic. She's been crying more since she escaped than she ever did in captivity.
Tap tap tap. Tap tap tap. Tap tap tap.
She's safe. She's okay. And Tom is right, now she knows some ways to feel better. She shouldn't feel this way.
When Ema's crying has slowed to only an occasional sniffle, Tom comes back.
"Are you okay? Are you- did that help? It seems like it helped, for me to leave, but I felt really bad for just... leaving you, while you were upset."
"It helped. I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to be sorry for." Tom doesn't sound annoyed. Just... sad.
"I... don't think there's anything you can do, if that happens again. I don't know why I started crying. Everything you said was right."
"Well, someone can be right and still be a dick."
"You weren't being a dick."
Tom is quiet for a moment. "You started crying when I brought up therapy. Should I... not bring that up?"
"No, you can bring it up. I don't know why it freaked me out."
"You said you don't want to talk about what happened. Does the idea of therapy make you feel stressed? You don't have to talk about the past at all with a therapist if you don't want to. I mean, you probably will eventually, but not until you feel comfortable with it. A good therapist will respect your wishes." Tap tap tap. "I don't know. I guess. I just want it to be over. I want to never think about it again."
"I... don't think that's possible."
Ema buries her face in her hands and sobs.
"Would it help if I touched you? Like, gave you a hug or something. Or would you rather not be touched?"
"Please don't touch me."
"Okay. So I know some things that don't help now, at least. Um... so, do you want to try therapy? Helping people find therapists is something I'm good at. You wouldn't have to talk about anything you didn't want to. And hey, I'm not a therapist, maybe I'm wrong that you'll have to think about it. Maybe a therapist can teach you how to not think about it. I don't know."
"I think... I've been emotional because of the deficiencies. I want to try getting more of those vitamins and stuff in, and maybe try physical therapy, and then see how I feel."
"I think you're going to need therapy no matter what. You've been through a lot."
Ema starts to tear up again.
"But... it can wait. I don't like to put these things off, but... this isn't about me. I don't know a lot about therapy, but I know that it doesn't work very well if you feel forced into it."
"...Thank you."
"Do you want help making a meal plan? To get the vitamins you need in? And I can look into what supplements you should be taking, that stuff's all unregulated so I don't think you just grab the first thing that says vitamin supplement, y'know?"
That... sounds nice. Not having to do it herself sounds nice. "I would like that."

Hey guys,
As much as I adore my Charlotte Tilbury skincare products sometimes you need a slightly more affordable option. After reading some comments and recommendations on my tiktok comments I decided to get Olay skincare a try so let me tell what I've picked up so far.
Luckily when I picked up these products they were on promotion at Boots, they had a 1/2 price promotion which apparently they do quiet often with this brand. The first product I picked up was the Olay Regenerist Whip Day Face Cream SPF30 ( I paid £19.00 though full price is £38.00). This cream is unlike anything I have tried before because instead of a traditional cream texture this whip formula is more like a moose and when you first apply it to your face it feels cold which I wasn't expecting. This moisturiser is designed to protect your skin against harmful UV rays, but also actively hydrates and plumps your skin for a lifted with a demi matte finish. The formula itself is a cream to liquid on contact for fast absorption and a breathable feel. I'm a bit obsessed with this cream and so far I've been wearing it for a few weeks and my skin feels so smooth and overall really hydrated.
Since I picked up the day cream I decided why not out the night cream since it was also half price, honestly it worked out by one and get one free! I picked up the Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Face Moisturiser With Retinol & Vitamin B3 50ml , ( I also paid £19.00 though full price is also £38.00). The night cream has a more traditional cream formula in terms of texture and is designed to smoothes fine lines, unleashes eye’s glow & evens texture while you sleep. This formula is designed to feel silky and absorb into the skin's surface while you sleep so you wake up with refreshed and hydrated skin. With a blend of vitamin B3 + Retinol complex it gives your skin the ultimate hydration boost. Again I've been using this for a few weeks every night and my face feels so soft the following morning ready for makeup application.
While I understand £38.00 is still a lot for a moisturiser, with offers like half price it does give you good value for money. Like I mentioned before I got both creams for the price of 1 which is very impressive. As always all products mentioned in my blog post are linked above!
Lots of love

Maize: From Mexico to the world
For Mexicans, the “children of corn,” maize is entwined in life, history and tradition. It is not just a crop; it is central to their identity. By Matthew O'Leary  May 20, 2016
EL BATAN, Mexico (CIMMYT) – For Mexicans, the “children of corn,” maize is entwined in life, history and tradition. It is not just a crop; it is central to their identity.
Even today, despite political and economic policies that have led Mexico to import one-third of its maize, maize farming continues to be deeply woven into the traditions and culture of rural communities. Furthermore, maize production and pricing are important to both food security and political stability in Mexico.
One of humanity’s greatest agronomic achievements, maize is the most widely produced crop in the world. According to the head of CIMMYT’s maize germplasm bank, senior scientist Denise Costich, there is broad scientific consensus that maize originated in Mexico, which is home to a rich diversity of varieties that has evolved over thousands of years of domestication.
The miracle of maize’s birth is widely debated in science. However, it is agreed that teosinte (a type of grass) is one of its genetic ancestors. What is unique is that maize’s evolution advanced at the hands of farmers. Ancient Mesoamerican farmers realized this genetic mutation of teosinte resembled food and saved seeds from their best cobs to plant the next crop. Through generations of selective breeding based on the varying preferences of farmers and influenced by different climates and geography, maize evolved into a plant species full of diversity.
The term “maize” is derived from the ancient word mahiz from the Taino language (a now extinct Arawakan language) of the indigenous people of pre-Columbian America. Archeological evidence indicates Mexico’s ancient Mayan, Aztec and Olmec civilizations depended on maize as the basis of their diet and was their most revered crop.
As Popol Vuh, the Mayan creation story, goes, the creator deities made the first humans from white maize hidden inside a mountain under an immovable rock. To access this maize seed, a rain deity split open the rock using a bolt of lightning in the form of an axe. This burned some of the maize, creating the other three grain colors, yellow, black and red. The creator deities took the grain and ground it into dough and used it to produce humankind.
Many Mesoamerican legends revolve around maize, and its image appears in the region’s crafts, murals and hieroglyphs. Mayas even prayed to maize gods to ensure lush crops: the tonsured maize god’s head symbolizes a maize cob, with a small crest of hair representing the tassel. The foliated maize god represents a still young, tender, green maize ear.
Maize was the staple food in ancient Mesoamerica and fed both nobles and commoners. They even developed a way of processing it to improve quality. Nixtamalization is the Nahuatl word for steeping and cooking maize in water to which ash or slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) has been added. Nixtamalized maize is more easily ground and has greater nutritional value, for the process makes vitamin B3 more bioavailable and reduces mycotoxins. Nixtamalization is still used today and CIMMYT is currently promoting it in Africa to combat nutrient deficiency.
White hybrid maize (produced through cross pollination) in Mexico has been bred for making tortillas with good industrial quality and taste. However, many Mexicans consider tortillas made from landraces (native maize varieties) to be the gold standard of quality.
“Many farmers, even those growing hybrid maize for sale, still grow small patches of the local maize landrace for home consumption,” noted CIMMYT Landrace Improvement Coordinator Martha Willcox. “However, as people migrate away from farms, and the number of hectares of landraces decrease, the biodiversity of maize suffers.”
Diversity at the heart of Mexican maize
The high level of maize diversity in Mexico is due to its varied geography and culture. As farmers selected the best maize for their specific environments and uses, maize diverged into distinct races, according to Costich. At present there are 59 unique Mexican landraces recorded.

Discover the Power of Rose Water: Dermatologist-Backed Tips for Hair and Scalp Care
The beautiful scent isn’t the only perk.
by Marcio "MZA"
Tumblr media
There's nothing we love more than multipurpose beauty products — rose water being one of them. Not only does it give Jennifer Aniston glowing skin but it also wields serious perks for both hair and scalp. And let's not forget that it smells amazing either. To learn more about rose water's rise in popularity among celebs and beauty enthusiasts alike, we spoke to a few haircare experts.
Is Rose Water Good for Your Hair?
"Rose water is amazing for the hair," says Lin Chen, co-founder of sustainable beauty brand Pink Moon. "It's hydrating, and adds moisture to damaged, dry hair 𑁋 it's especially wonderful for processed or colored hair."
Rose water is a mild astringent with anti-inflammatory properties that can also help to reduce oiliness, Dr. Marisa Garshick, board-certified dermatologist at MDCS Dermatology, tells us. So those with oily scalp, dandruff, or seborrheic dermatitis can definitely benefit from incorporating rose water into their haircare and scalp routine.
Does Rose Water Help Hair Growth?
Yes. Because rose water is beneficial to the overall health of the scalp, it can help establish a good foundation for hair growth and help prevent hair loss. "Rose petals are also high in vitamins A, B3, C, and E, which nourish the scalp and stimulate hair follicles, promoting hair growth," explains Chen.
What Hair Types Benefit From Using Rose Water?
You may be pleased to learn that rose water is suitable for all hair types, so there's no harm in giving it a try. In terms of which hair type will benefit most, Dr. Garshick says those with oily scalp and hair can benefit from its astringent properties, while those who have dry scalp and hair can benefit from the hydrating and moisturizing ones.
Can You Make Your Own Rose Water?
Rose water is really easy to make by simmering or by distillation. As the first step for both methods, it is important to pluck the rose petals from the stems to get rid of any residue.
"To make rose water by the simmering method, add rose petals to a pot and cover the petals with distilled water, allow the water to simmer until the petals lose their color," instructs Dr. Garshick.
"To make rose water through distillation, place a bowl in the center of a pot and put petals and distilled water in the pot," says Dr. Garshick. "Next, cover the pot with the lid upside down and place ice cubes in the lid. Bring the pot to a boil and then allow it to simmer until the petals lose their color."
How Should Rose Water be Applied To The Hair?
Rose water can be applied directly to the hair or scalp as shampoo, conditioner, an after-shampoo rinse, or as a mist. Although the application may vary depending on whether you make your rose water at home or buy a hair product infused with rose water, the results will be very similar.

What happens if a horse drinks beer?
He will burn up the extra calories easily. The amounts of carbohydrates and water in a single bottle or can of beer also are negligible in view of a horse's total needs. However, beer does provide some minerals, niacin, B vitamins (B1, B3 and B6), folate and flavonoids, all of which horses need.
Horses in moderate work/training: ½ cup once a day. Guinness can be fed as needed after a hard training session, after a competition, or during a period of high heat and or high humidity
A: Many horses love the taste of beer, possibly because it consists of ingredients such as barley and hops, which resemble the grains in horse feeds. The alcoholic content is not a concern, as horses do not get drunk easily, if at all. Their livers process alcohol extremely rapidly because they naturally produce large amounts of alcohol dehydrogenase. This is an enzyme that breaks down the products of fermentation, which occurs in the horse’s large intestine during normal digestion. It quickly converts all forms of alcohol to carbohydrates to be used for energy.
bojack: HAH! I knew beer was acutally good for me

The Best Skincare Ingredients for Anti Aging
Aging is a natural process, but when it comes to our skin care, most of us would prefer to slow down the clock. The good news is that there are a variety of skincare ingredients designed to combat the signs of aging. In this guide, we’ll dive into the most effective anti-aging ingredients, helping you make informed choices for your skincare routine.
Tumblr media
What Causes Skin Aging?
Before jumping into the best ingredients, it's important to understand what causes skin aging. Aging can be influenced by natural biological processes, but environmental factors like UV exposure, pollution, and lifestyle choices also play a significant role. Natural aging is inevitable, as we age, collagen production slows, and our skin begins to lose elasticity. However, external factors such as sun damage, smoking, and a poor diet can speed up this process, leading to premature wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots.
Key Anti-Aging Ingredients to Look for in Skincare
When it comes to skincare, choosing the right ingredients can make all the difference. Let's look at the powerhouse ingredients known for their anti-aging properties. Retinol is often hailed as the gold standard in anti-aging. A derivative of Vitamin A, retinol works by increasing cell turnover, which helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. Using retinol consistently can help improve the texture and overall appearance of the skin.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals, which are molecules that can damage skin cells and accelerate aging. This ingredient brightens the skin, reduces dark spots, and promotes collagen production for firmer, younger-looking skin. As we age, our skin loses moisture, leading to dryness and fine lines. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that draws moisture into the skin, keeping it plump and hydrated. Incorporating this into your routine can help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and improve skin elasticity.
Peptides are small chains of amino acids that act as the building blocks of proteins like collagen and elastin. These proteins are essential for keeping the skin firm and smooth. By incorporating peptides into your skincare routine, you’re essentially encouraging your skin to repair itself and boost collagen production. Niacinamide, a form of Vitamin B3, is a versatile ingredient known for its ability to reduce inflammation, tighten pores, and improve skin elasticity. It's gentle on the skin, making it suitable for all skin types and an excellent addition to any anti-aging routine.
Natural Ingredients That Fight Aging
For those who prefer natural alternatives, there are several ingredients that can help combat aging without the use of synthetic chemicals. Rich in antioxidants, green tea extract protects the skin from damage caused by free radicals and UV exposure. Its anti-inflammatory properties also help calm the skin, making it an ideal ingredient for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Aloe vera is well-known for its soothing properties, but it also plays a role in anti-aging by hydrating the skin and promoting cell regeneration. Regular use of aloe vera can help keep the skin looking youthful and radiant. Jojoba oil closely mimics the natural oils produced by our skin, making it an excellent moisturizer. It helps to seal in moisture and reduce the appearance of fine lines, while also balancing oil production.
How to Incorporate Anti-Aging Ingredients into Your Routine
Knowing which ingredients to use is only half the battle. It’s equally important to know how to incorporate them into your daily skincare routine. Start by applying the thinnest products, such as serums, before moving on to thicker moisturizers or oils. This ensures that all the active ingredients can penetrate the skin effectively. Retinol and AHAs are best used at night, as they can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, are ideal for morning use, providing protection and hydration throughout the day.
Common Myths About Anti-Aging Skincare
There are many misconceptions about anti-aging skincare. Let’s debunk a few of them. One common myth is that retinol is too harsh for all skin types. While it’s true that retinol can cause irritation in some cases, starting with a lower concentration and gradually increasing usage can help your skin adjust. Hydration is crucial for maintaining youthful skin. Even oily skin types need hydration, as dehydrated skin can lead to premature wrinkles and fine lines. This is where ingredients like hyaluronic acid play a key role.
How to Choose the Right Products for Your Skin Type
Your skin type plays a significant role in how effective certain anti-aging ingredients will be. If you have sensitive skin, opt for gentler ingredients like niacinamide and peptides. For oily skin, products with AHAs or salicylic acid can help regulate oil production while also targeting signs of aging. Combination skin can benefit from a balanced routine that includes both hydrating and exfoliating ingredients. Layering products correctly can help address both dryness and oiliness.
Conclusion: How Good Choice India Can Help You Choose
Finding the right skincare products to fight aging doesn’t have to be overwhelming. At Good Choice India, we offer a wide range of skincare solutions that feature all the powerful anti-aging ingredients discussed in this article. Whether you’re looking for retinol, Vitamin C, or natural alternatives, Good Choice India has got you covered.

The Ultimate Guide to Niacinamide Cream for Radiant Skin
Niacinamide Face Cream has become a cornerstone in the skincare routines of many women, and for good reason. This versatile ingredient, also known as Vitamin B3, offers a range of benefits that address various skin concerns, from hydration to anti-aging. If you're looking for a reliable solution to enhance your skincare routine, incorporating niacinamide moisturizer could be a game-changer.
Tumblr media
What is Niacinamide Skin Cream?
Niacinamide Night Cream is a topical skincare product enriched with niacinamide, a form of Vitamin B3. It’s renowned for its ability to improve skin texture, enhance hydration, and reduce the appearance of imperfections. The cream is typically used in both morning and evening routines and can be incorporated into various types of skincare regimens.
Benefits of Niacinamide Daily Cream
1. Improves Skin Barrier Function One of the primary benefits of Niacinamide Hydrating Cream is its ability to strengthen the skin's barrier. A robust skin barrier helps to retain moisture, protect against environmental aggressors, and reduce the risk of irritation. By enhancing the barrier function, Niacinamide Anti-Aging Cream helps to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.
2. Reduces Hyperpigmentation Niacinamide is well-known for its ability to even out skin tone. It can help reduce the appearance of dark spots, sun spots, and other forms of hyperpigmentation. Regular use of Niacinamide Brightening Cream can lead to a more uniform complexion, making it an excellent choice for those dealing with discoloration.
3. Minimizing Fine Lines and Wrinkles Niacinamide has been shown to stimulate collagen production, which is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. By boosting collagen levels, Niacinamide Treatment Cream helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, contributing to a smoother, more youthful appearance.
4. Controls Excess Oil Production For those with oily or combination skin, Niacinamide Repair Cream can be particularly beneficial. It helps to regulate sebum production, which can reduce shine and prevent breakouts. By keeping oil levels in check, Niacinamide Serum Cream contributes to a balanced and clearer complexion.
5. Calms Inflammation Niacinamide has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe irritated skin. Whether you’re dealing with redness, sensitivity, or conditions like acne or rosacea, niacinamide renewal cream can provide relief and promote a more even skin tone.
6. Enhances Hydration One of the standout features of niacinamide is its ability to improve skin hydration. It helps to boost the skin’s natural moisturizing factors, ensuring that your skin remains plump and hydrated throughout the day. This is especially beneficial for those with dry or dehydrated skin.
How to Use Niacinamide Rich Cream
1. Patch Test First: Before incorporating any new product into your routine, it’s important to perform a patch test. Apply a small amount of Niacinamide Skincare Cream to a discrete area of your skin and wait 24 hours to ensure you don’t have an adverse reaction.
2. Cleanse Your Skin: Start with a clean face by using a gentle cleanser. This prepares your skin to better absorb the Niacinamide Night Cream.
3. Apply: Niacinamide Cream After cleansing, apply a small amount of Niacinamide Anti-Aging Cream to your face and neck. Gently massage it into your skin using upward motions until fully absorbed. Be sure to avoid the sensitive eye area.
4. Follow with Moisturizer: If you're using Niacinamide Repair Cream in the morning, follow up with a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin from UV damage. At night, you may choose to apply a moisturizer to lock in the benefits of the Niacinamide Renewal Cream and further enhance hydration.
5. Consistency is Key: For best results, use Niacinamide Rejuvenating Cream consistently. It may take a few weeks to notice significant improvements, but regular application will help you achieve and maintain the desired effects.
Care Tips for Optimal Results
1. Avoid Mixing with Certain Ingredients: While niacinamide is generally well-tolerated, it’s wise to avoid mixing it with products containing Vitamin C or acids like AHA/BHA. These combinations can sometimes cause irritation. If you’re using multiple active ingredients, consider applying Niacinamide Hydration Cream in the morning and other activities at night.
2. Store Properly: Keep your Niacinamide Emulsion Cream in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Proper storage helps maintain the efficacy of the product.
3. Monitor Your Skin’s Response: Everyone’s skin is unique. Pay attention to how your skin responds to Niacinamide Hydrating Cream and adjust usage if needed. If you experience persistent irritation, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist.

Brighten Your Complexion: Top Pigmentation Removal Creams in the UK
Pigmentation issues, such as dark spots, melasma, and uneven skin tone, can be a source of frustration for many people. These conditions can arise due to various factors, including sun exposure, hormonal changes, and aging. Thankfully, there is a plethora of pigmentation removal cream available in the UK that can help restore your skin's natural brightness. This article explores different types of pigmentation removal creams, their active ingredients, and how they work to improve your complexion.
Tumblr media
Understanding Pigmentation
Before diving into the creams, it's important to understand what pigmentation is. Skin pigmentation refers to the coloring of the skin, which is determined by melanin. When there is an overproduction of melanin, it can lead to dark patches or spots on the skin. Common causes include:
Sun Exposure: UV rays stimulate melanin production, leading to sunspots.
Hormonal Changes: Conditions such as pregnancy or hormone therapy can cause melasma.
Aging: With age, our skin can develop age spots due to accumulated sun exposure.
Understanding the cause of pigmentation can help in selecting the right treatment.
Key Ingredients to Look For
When selecting a pigmentation removal cream, it's essential to look for specific active ingredients known for their effectiveness:
Hydroquinone: A powerful skin-lightening agent that inhibits melanin production. It’s often considered the gold standard in treating hyperpigmentation.
Vitamin C: An antioxidant that brightens the skin and protects against free radicals. It also helps to inhibit melanin production.
Retinoids: Derived from Vitamin A, these compounds promote cell turnover and help fade dark spots.
Niacinamide: A form of Vitamin B3 that reduces the appearance of dark spots and improves skin texture.
Kojic Acid: A natural alternative to hydroquinone, it inhibits melanin production and provides brightening effects.
Licorice Extract: Known for its soothing properties, it also helps in reducing hyperpigmentation.
Top Pigmentation Removal Creams in the UK
1. Hydroquinone Creams
Hydroquinone creams are often recommended for their potency. Products containing 2% hydroquinone are available over the counter, while higher concentrations require a prescription. Users should follow guidelines carefully, as prolonged use can lead to side effects like skin irritation.
2. Vitamin C Serums
Vitamin C is beloved in the skincare community for its brightening properties. Look for serums that contain L-ascorbic acid, the most active form of Vitamin C. Regular use can help brighten the skin and reduce the appearance of pigmentation.
3. Retinoid Creams
Retinoids are effective in promoting skin cell turnover, which helps fade dark spots over time. Products like tretinoin or adapalene can be potent options. However, they may cause initial irritation, so starting with a lower concentration is advisable.
4. Niacinamide Creams
Niacinamide has gained popularity for its gentle yet effective approach to pigmentation. It helps to lighten dark spots while also improving skin texture and minimizing pores. Look for formulations that combine niacinamide with other brightening agents for enhanced results.
5. Kojic Acid Products
Kojic acid is a natural alternative for those seeking to reduce pigmentation without the risks associated with hydroquinone. It’s particularly effective for melasma and sunspots. Products often combine kojic acid with other brightening ingredients for maximum impact.
6. Licorice Extract Creams
Creams containing licorice extract are excellent for those with sensitive skin. This natural ingredient not only helps reduce pigmentation but also soothes and calms the skin. It’s a good option for those looking for a gentle, effective treatment.
7. Exfoliating Creams
Exfoliation is key in the fight against pigmentation. Creams containing alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) can help slough off dead skin cells, revealing brighter skin underneath. Regular exfoliation can improve overall skin tone and texture.
Application Tips for Best Results
To maximize the effectiveness of pigmentation removal creams, consider the following tips:
Patch Test: Always perform a patch test before using a new product to check for any adverse reactions.
Consistency is Key: Use the product consistently as directed. Most treatments require several weeks of regular use to see noticeable results.
Sun Protection: Always apply sunscreen during the day, as many pigmentation treatments can make the skin more sensitive to UV rays. A broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 is recommended.
Hydration: Keep your skin well-hydrated. Use a good moisturizer to complement your treatment and prevent irritation.
Potential Side Effects
While pigmentation removal creams can be effective, they may also come with side effects. Common reactions include:
Irritation or Redness: Especially with potent ingredients like retinoids and hydroquinone.
Dryness: Many active ingredients can dry out the skin, so it’s essential to moisturize adequately.
Photosensitivity: Some products can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, increasing the risk of sunburn.
If you experience severe reactions, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist.
Conclusion
Brightening your complexion and addressing pigmentation issues is achievable with the right products and a consistent skincare routine. By understanding the different types of pigmentation removal creams available in the UK and their active ingredients, you can make informed choices tailored to your skin's needs. Remember to prioritize sun protection and proper hydration for the best results. With patience and dedication, you can achieve a brighter, more even complexion and regain your confidence in your skin.

The Natural And Pure Organic Honey In The UK - A Must Try Product!
As for the natural source of sweetness, pure organic honey is one of the best options that can be considered. With improved consumer awareness on a healthy life, organic honey in the UK and in the global market has been in high demand. But here we are presenting the following question: What is actually pure organic honey, and how can it be distinguished from regular honey?
In most cases, the organic honey is more flavorful compared to the normal honey that you are likely to come across. It has an intense, multi-layered taste which makes it rather powerful. Organic honey provides sucrose, glucose, fructose, enzymes, amino acids, vitamins B2, B3, magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium chlorine, sulphur, and phosphate. The study also reveals that it has antioxidants and polyphenols that can assist in the enhancement of immune function. In general, using organic honey is a better choice as compared to using table sugar for a number of reasons.
Pure organic honey uk is honey that is collected from bees that feed on naturally produced nectar that is not influenced by pollution, pesticides, or any other synthetic agents. The honey is produced from the nectar that the bees gather from the wildflowers and blossoms that are free from pesticides. This makes it possible for the honey to preserve all the natural enzymes, antioxidants and minerals which are absent in processed or non-organic honey. Organic honey producers go through a certification process that does not allow the use of chemicals or treatments on bees or their hives.

Discovering Organic Gari
It is a traditional food product in West African countries which is manufactured from the starchy tuberous roots of cassava plants. Originally employed in the preparation of the staple food eba or agbeli kaklo, gari when soaked in water forms a thick paste or dough ball that is well suited for scooping thick rich stew or soup.
The original gari is used all over the world as a snack or accompaniment to soup, but now, because of the growing demand, a new type of gari is produced, which is more nutritious and tastes much better. Organic gari egba is processed in a natural way and is not subjected to the same level of processing as normal gari. It also uses natural cassava tubers that are not produced with synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. This enables it to retain more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants than the processed form of the same fruit. Organic gari is a naturally sweet and creamy garnish for traditional West African recipes or a gluten-free alternative to couscous or rice.
And if your desire is for the sweet and savoury, then be sure to consider the absolute best that organic Africa has to offer. This will do your mouth a world of good.

Anti Aging Products
We all have to put up with. As the years pass, one's skin alters, too: it loses its elasticity and decreases in firmness, while wrinkles, fine lines, or age spots may appear on one's face. While it is not to be prevented, the beauty industry still promises a long range of products to delay this process or even turn it around. More commonly, these are called "anti-aging" products.
But what, precisely, are these products, and do they live up to their promises? Let's take a closer look.
Anti-Aging Products: Understanding
Anti-aging products are skin care products whose major goal is to prevent signs of aging or, if that's not possible, to reduce them.
They come in cream, serum, andeven masks, as well as lotion forms. Generally speaking, the major aim of these products is the skin's appearance- to make it smoother, firmer, and younger. While a few promise to reduce wrinkles, others promise to reduce age spots, and some promise other feats that may raise the hydration level of your skin.
Something to Watch Out For Ingredients:Talking about anti-aging products, it is actually all about the ingredients. Not all anti-aging products have been created equally, and their potency depends highly on the ingredients that they possess.
Here are the usual ingredients in effective anti-aging products:
Retinol:The compound includes Vitamin A itself and is generally used to speed up the cycle of turnover of cells, improving the production of collagen. Hence, it removes fine lines and wrinkles. Skin texture and tone can be enhanced using retinol, and dermatologists adore it.
Hyaluronic acid: this is the powerhouse ingredient with regard to hydration. It can retain up to 1,000 times its weight in water; therefore, it's such a great moisturizer.
Hydrated skin can appear smoother and plumper, reflecting fewer wrinkles.
Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant that promotes combating sun and pollution damage to the skin. It exerts a brightening effect on the skin tone and results in a reduction of dark spots for an even tone.
Peptides are small proteins that help boost collagen and elastin, which give firmness and elasticity to the skin.
The application of peptides can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles since they help make your skin firmer.
Niacinamide:Vitamin B3 or niacinamide contributes to skin elasticity, enhancement of the skin barrier, and evening out the skin tone. This is one such ingredient that works for all skin types since it is versatile.
Anti-Aging Products-Do These Really Work?
It begs the big question: do these products really deliver what they promise, or is this another fallacy in advertising? The answer is really more complex.
Though some skin products can actually make one's skin look and feel better, results depend so much on many factors, such as the quality of the product and ingredients and, sometimes, the consistency of use.
Other skincare products whose ingredients are scientifically backed, such as those containing retinol, hyaluronic acid, or vitamin C, confer additional skin benefits.
It is similarly crucial to note, however, that not even one product in the world can halt the aging process. First and foremost, they all can make a difference because they either postpone the aging process or keep the skin fine for as long as possible.
Choosing the Right Product
With so many anti-aging products out there, it may take some time to figure out which one works best.
Following are a few tips on how you can make a good choice.
Skin Type:First and foremost, one has to understand the type of skin. Whether oily, dry, sensitive or a combination of skin, the product that would be used will depend on the type of skin. For example, sensitive skin may not bear strong retinoids, usually replaced by milder ones.
Always check the list of ingredients of the product that you will buy. Select a product with active ingredients that are normally known to be anti-aging. Stay away from a product containing alcohol or fragrances; these two are irritating to your skin.
Patch test new products: A patch test before using any product on the face always keeps you safe from adverse reactions.
Be Patient and Consistent:Anti-aging products are not magic. The skin takes time to respond to any new treatment; hence, consistency is the key. Apply the product as directed and give it some time to show noticeable results.
Additional Tips for Healthy, Youthful Skin
Although anti-aging products could help you in trying to get better skin, they are not your only hope. Thus, here are some other tips you may do to keep your skin healthy and looking young:
Hydrate:Drinking a lot of water serves as an inner treatment for good skin.
Protect your skin from the sun:UV of the Sun is among the topmost causative agents for early aging. One must put on sunscreen with at least SPF 30, even on cloudy days.
Eat healthy:A diet really rich in fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats can give your skin all it needs to be in good health.
Sleep Enough:Renovation of the skin occurs when you sleep; rest is, therefore, an indispensable component of healthy-looking and good skin.
Avoid Smoking and Excessive Alcohol:Both smoking and excessive consumption of alcohol are likely to hasten skin aging. Stopping smoking and avoiding excessive use of alcohol will help your skin look younger for a longer time.
Conclusion
Anti-aging products are, indeed, worth adding to your skincare arsenal, provided you use them religiously and in addition to a healthy lifestyle. Remember, aging is the natural cycle of life, and though we cannot stop the process, we can surely take steps to keep our skin healthy and vibrant for as long as possible.
Choose them rightly; note the tested ingredients and go ahead with the care of your skin by means of all habits that contribute to the overall good health of the skin.

NMN vs. NR: A Comprehensive Comparison and Understanding of NMN Side Effects
In the quest for longevity and improved health, two compounds have garnered significant attention: NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) and NR (Nicotinamide Riboside). Both of these compounds are precursors to NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), a critical molecule involved in various cellular processes, including energy metabolism and DNA repair. The debate of Nmn Vs Nr has become central to discussions about anti-aging and overall health, as both compounds offer potential benefits in enhancing NAD+ levels. However, with these potential benefits also comes the question of safety and possible NMN side effects. This article explores the differences between NMN and NR, their respective benefits, and the side effects associated with NMN.
Tumblr media
What Are NMN and NR?
NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) and NR (Nicotinamide Riboside) are both vitamin B3 (niacin) derivatives that serve as precursors to NAD+. NAD+ plays a crucial role in the body’s energy production and is vital for the proper functioning of cells. As we age, NAD+ levels decline, leading to a reduction in cellular function and an increase in age-related diseases. Both NMN and NR are used to boost NAD+ levels in the body, with each having distinct pathways and efficacy.
NMN: NMN is a direct precursor to NAD+. Once ingested, NMN is rapidly converted into NAD+ within cells. This direct conversion is why many believe NMN to be more effective in raising NAD+ levels than NR.
NR: NR, on the other hand, is converted into NMN before it can be turned into NAD+. This additional step is a point of consideration when comparing the effectiveness of NMN vs. NR. Some studies suggest that despite the extra step, NR is still highly effective in boosting NAD+ levels.
NMN vs. NR: Which is Better?
The NMN vs. NR debate revolves around their efficiency in increasing NAD+ levels, their bioavailability, and their potential health benefits. While both NMN and NR are promising, they have some differences worth noting.
Bioavailability: NMN has been shown to have a high bioavailability, meaning it is effectively absorbed and utilized by the body. Some research suggests that NMN can enter cells directly, where it is quickly converted to NAD+. NR also has good bioavailability, but because it must first convert to NMN before becoming NAD+, it might be slightly less efficient.
Effectiveness in Boosting NAD+: Studies indicate that both NMN and NR effectively raise NAD+ levels. However, the speed and efficiency of this process might be more pronounced with NMN due to its direct conversion to NAD+. This has led some researchers to favor NMN for faster and possibly more substantial results.
Health Benefits: Both NMN and NR have been associated with numerous health benefits, particularly in the context of aging. These include improved energy metabolism, enhanced cognitive function, and better cardiovascular health. NMN, due to its direct conversion to NAD+, may offer more immediate benefits, particularly for those looking to mitigate the effects of aging.
NMN Side Effects: What to Know
While NMN shows great promise in anti-aging and health, understanding NMN side effects is crucial for safe usage. As with any supplement, there are potential risks, although most users report NMN as being well-tolerated.
Common Side Effects: Some of the most commonly reported side effects of NMN include mild digestive issues such as nausea, bloating, or diarrhea. These symptoms are generally mild and tend to resolve as the body adjusts to the supplement.
Long-Term Safety: Long-term studies on NMN are still in progress, and while initial research is promising, there is a need for further data to fully understand the long-term effects. Some scientists caution that artificially boosting NAD+ levels over extended periods could potentially have unknown consequences, particularly regarding cell growth and cancer risks. However, current studies have not found any significant links between NMN supplementation and cancer.
Interaction with Medications: NMN may interact with certain medications, particularly those that affect the liver and metabolism. It is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider before starting NMN, especially if you are taking other medications or have underlying health conditions.
Individual Variation: The effects of NMN can vary between individuals. Factors such as age, health status, and genetic background can influence how one responds to NMN supplementation. Some individuals may experience more pronounced side effects, while others may notice none at all.
Practical Considerations: Choosing Between NMN and NR
When deciding between NMN vs. NR, it’s important to consider your specific health goals, budget, and any potential side effects.
Cost: NMN tends to be more expensive than NR, which might influence your choice, especially if you are considering long-term supplementation.
Health Goals: If you are looking for more immediate results in terms of energy levels and anti-aging benefits, NMN might be the better choice due to its direct NAD+ conversion. However, NR remains a strong candidate for those who want a more cost-effective option with similar benefits.
Safety and Tolerance: If you are concerned about NMN side effects, starting with a lower dose or opting for NR might be advisable. NR has been used in clinical settings with fewer reported side effects, making it a potentially safer option for those sensitive to supplements.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
The NMN vs. NR debate is ongoing, with both compounds offering significant benefits in terms of boosting NAD+ levels and promoting health. NMN’s direct conversion to NAD+ may make it more effective for those seeking rapid benefits, but NR’s similar effectiveness and lower cost make it an attractive alternative. Understanding NMN side effects is crucial when deciding whether this supplement is right for you. As always, it is recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen to ensure it aligns with your individual health needs and goals.
