man i love how there was rly just. NO hesitation on charles' part on deciding to go to hell to get edwin out. like, typically you'd expect at least SOME deliberation, but nope he was instantly just like "so you can make a portal to hell? okay make one, i'm going in." and yeah some of it can be left up to the fact that he's a ghost and not as liable to die in hell as someone living, but seriously the fact that that was his default course of action? just right off the bat? that level of devotion is frankly a little insane

i realize this looks finished, but technically i'm still deciding whether to add a background or not lol. still, for the sake of sharing a proper WIP, here's a line or two from an araleyn brainworm WIP that i started reworking yesterday (mild tw for religious guilt and period-typical internalized homophobia from aragon's pov):

She remembers sharing her bed with Anne at Henry's behest, remembers the nights of tossing and turning and trying not to think about Anne asleep next to her-- remembers waking up to dark hair spilling across her pillow and the press of blood-warm bosoms against her own, softer than sin, as hot as the Devil, remembers lying still as death, mouthing prayers into the heat of Anne's neck like an act of penance.

Oh, I think I've seen this ship around--and this one gives me interesting vibes, so let's talk about that! :D

Tenko and Angie are both bright, but one of them is a sun, and the other's brightness is a lamp. Duller. More artificial. It isn't that Angie cares less for those around her, but her brightness is a mask--and it is easy to see that in comparison to the honest-to-a-fault, earnest Tenko. Angie has a lot of love to give but is scared of vulnerability, so she hides behind a false brightness in order to hide that big heart of hers--but Tenko is here to show that exposing your heart, while it can cause some damage to occur, is the best way to be true to yourself and to make genuine connections. Expressing genuine emotions was never Angie's strong suit, but Tenko brings those feelings out of her and into the open--almost unwillingly, almost violently, like how the sun can scorch the earth. But through the ashes of the old is when new growth can emerge, and with Tenko there to nurture it, Angie can find her true feelings once again.

What I like about the ship: The idea of opening up to someone after masking your feelings for so long is endearing to me, and it has a heartfelt message if done right. The people who love you won't judge you for being your true and earnest self, and Tenko isn't a girl ready to judge someone for that. This can be a really sweet story of a girl learning to express her true feelings and thoughts again after so long of having them repressed under a false bravado.
