was 8 10 am before we alighted at the Bull and Mouth Inn - Bull and mouth street opposite the new post office - again reo expectation of gentry - sometime before we could get room or anything - at last a civil waiter, and in course of time did very fairly - a small sitting room with a sofa in it, and breakfast came at 9 - afterwards a bedroom to dress in - at 10 55 sent off John with a porter and a note to Messrs. Pearce Baxter and co. coach builders 103 London acre begging them to send me the carriage and my servant being a stranger in London to order a pair of good horses and steady driver for the day - said I should be at 24 or 26 Dover street Hawkins’ family hotel, to dinner at 6 pm and if Mr Pearce would send over a trusty person then pay the bill received at Shibden hall a few days ago - then had E- to put hair in papers and wrote the whole of yesterday and so far of today till 12 - then a thorough washing and dressing till 1 10 - the carriage arrived at 1 ½ - our dresses put into the imperials and bonnets into the cap-case - both servants dined - off from the Bull and mouth at 2 ¾ - drove to the British and foreign  central school Borough road, as recommended by Mr Patience  (master of lady de Grey’s school, at Skelton, near Borough vide Sat 18 July) inquired for the secretary Mr Dunn - out of town - for the superintendent Mr Crostley - not certain whether he was the person who came to us or not, but the one who came was very civil - shewed us into the boys’ and then the girls’ school rooms and would gladly have had us examine the children but we declined on the plea of not knowing anything of the system - bought the 2 books explanatory public by the committee - our impression respecting the school was not quite satisfactory - we thought the children rough and not neat and the master liberal enough to be both radical and dissenter - we fancied the system was a sort of gradual undermining of this church and tory politics - we said our Sunday school scholars must go to church and our master and mistress must be church people - we were told that the education at the church national school was too confined that they seemed afraid of teaching the children too much - we civilly regretted this and came away and determined not to have a master from the British and foreign central school if we could manage the matter another way - then drove to Rivington’s - A- bought 2 or 3 books among the rest Britton’s picture of London - R- recommends the national school - should write to the secretary Mr (Reverend) Wigram author of nice little work on Sunday schools, and he would be most likely to find us a school master and mistress - or if not in London should apply to the manager the revered Mr Johnson - A- left her watch at Rundle [Rundell] and Bridges’ - could not be regulated in time so to be sent to my address at Shibden - then to Howell and James’s to look for something to give Charlotte S- [Stuart] on her approaching marriage - work boxes from 9 to 14 +  guineas and one with writing desk 26 guineas - envelope and note-paper holder (very pretty and novel) 3 ½ guineas - could have a very pretty little gold padlock put to it for 2 ½ guineas extra -  alighted at Hawkins’ 26 Dover street at 5 ½ - dinner at 6 - had Pearce the coachmaker - paid him his bill for repairs (new wheels and patent axles etc etc) to the carriage £140.8.6 - then had Peat the sadler, Piccadilly, opposite Bond street, recommended by Norcliffe - said not a word of the letter N- gave me - merely observed that he (P-) was recommended to me by an old military friend - ordered a side saddle - gave the tape-measures Wheatley had taken - said the pony was 13 hands and an inch but wished the saddle to be able to be made (fit) a larger animal also if required - to be done in 10 days and sent to Shibden - price about 7 guineas - should have white girths and 2 pair of each saddle - at 8 ½ wrote and sent little note to the ‘Lady Stuart de Rothsay 3 Carlton house terrace’ to say I was just arrived for 2 or 3 days and if she would be at home tomorrow I would call - then tea and reading Picture of London (about schools) till 10 ¾ - very fine day - F70° in my dressing room at 11 10

How AI will influence our jobs 

Business processes and simple tasks are increasingly getting automated, a world without this is unavoidable. You have probably heard or read that robots will take our jobs, there are several studies on this which all claim a different perspective on what the future of work will look like. Take for an example a recent study from McKinsey Global Institute, which has shown that nearly half of the existing jobs could be automated within 40 years!

Where does this all come from? A few years ago there’s been a huge breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence, A.I. In short, this is the autonomous thinking of computers. A few years back, scientists and futurists were still convinced that it would take decades before we would be where we are now…

Up until the year 2015 many AI-researchers were assuming that it would be one of the biggest challenges for a computer to recognise the content of an image. Scientists knew for sure they would need a new research method to eventually be able to do this. But guess what happened then? Google came up with a great invention: a deep-learning network (an artificial neural network) which was capable to analyse images and describe the content in it; the algorithm itself retrieved the meaning of the images. The fact that Google’s deep-learning network was capable to associate objects with language by itself was a big step forward.

There are a lot of tasks that can be replaced by systems and machines already, in some cases this can be gathering data, analysing or determining solutions. AI and deep learning are developing fast, and the earlier we acknowledge this the sooner we can start preparing to focus on maintaining and developing skills that AI won’t own soon.

What tasks are currently being fulfilled by robots and AI? Below you’ll read some of the many examples:

This system creates articles by analysing a data files

Currently the writing of simple news articles about for an example sports results is already being done by systems. The ‘Associated Press’  (a global news network) automates the writing of sports news. The technology, developed by Automated Insights, retrieves and analyses the data after which it creates a readable piece out of it. Below some examples:

Despite the loss, six players for Brooklyn picked up at least a pair of hits. Brosher homered and singled twice, driving home four runs and scoring a couple. The Cyclones also recorded a season-high 14 base hits.

Reliever Bob Wheatley (1-0) picked up the win after he struck out two and walked one while allowing one hit over two scoreless innings. Alejandro Castro (1-1) allowed one run and got one out in the New York-Penn League game.

Do it Yourself Detection of Skin Cancer by AI

Researchers from Stanford University developed an AI algorithm to identify skin cancer. The algorithm can diagnose just as accurately as a professional physician! The researchers gathered 130,000 images that showed different kinds of skin disease and put the images all together in a database. Then the researchers taught the system to recognise potential cancer.

The researchers aim to create an app in which the AI algorithm will be integrated so that people can detect skin cancer just by using their phone. But before this technology will be brought to your phone there still needs to be done some more testing.

This robot is able to adapt to any process

Baxter the robot can be taught multiple processes plus you can re-program it in a short amount of time. Baxter is often being used in factories, his eyes follow the tasks he is programmed to fulfil. The moving eyes apply as a safety feature; employees will be sure that Baxter focusses on the tasks he’s aimed to do. But the moving eyes have to do with emotional value as well; It ensures that people experience recognition and develop empathy towards the robot.  

A recent study from Boston Consulting Group has shown that 72% of manufacturing managers are planning to apply automation technology like robots over the next 5 years. The costs of robots will decrease and because of that it becomes increasingly interesting for smaller factories to invest in robotics and automation.

How to distinguish yourself?

Some jobs will change or eventually disappear but a lot of new jobs will arise. To stay ahead in the workforce you’ll need a whole different skill set. Below you will find a list, created by World Economic Forum, which shows the 10 most valuable skills for an employee for the years 2015 and 2020.

As you can see, warmer values such as creativity and emotional intelligence will be of greater importance in the near future. And these are all skills that computers haven’t been taught yet! Computers may be good at following up on programmed tasks, but miss out on empathy, creativity, and critical thinking. Working with and for people requires better non-cognitive skills, and they will become more important than they were ever before in the coming years.

1. What kind of blog does your f/o have? Do they selfship on main? Do they look like a regular fan? Quiet reblogs or lots of gushing? Lots of analyses of your character and your source or incoherent blabbering? Do they have a headcanon blog? Do they try to roleplay as you?

Baxter is a smart man, so he'd definitely analyse my character. He'd spend over hundreds and thousands of hours just replaying voice lines and clips, and coming to different conclusions. Kinda like @/the-wheatley-core does with their analyses. Other than that, quiet reblogs with tons of gushing in the tags, but when people ask him to gush he short circuits sjdgh

3. What’s their self insert like? Is their s/i literally them? Is it basically them but with just a few changes - to be more like the person they’d like to be, or to “fit in” your source better? Is their s/i totally OP or extra or more realistic? Is it an OC that’s totally different from them?

Much, much different from him. Although he's tiny and fiesty and adorable, I feel as if he wouldn't have the confidence to think that I'd actually like him how he is, so he'd cut out all the negative things about himself and only put the positives in his si.

5. Do they create anything inspired by you and/or their ship with you? Fanart? Fanfics? Gifsets? Moodboards? Edits? Songs? Dances? Crafts? Playlists? Cosplays? Do they post them (or pictures of them) online? Do they sell any merch (online, at cons, etc)? Do they make pics of their selfship in dollmakers? Do they spend hours on otp prompt generators? Do they commission art of their selfship?

He commissions a lot of art. He can't draw or paint or sculpt or edit like.... at all (unless viv says otherwise, though up until now she hasn't) so most of the money he is given to to fund his experiments and such go down to commissions. Other than that, he actually likes creating water glass music based on my character! He does record them, but never posts them (which is a shame cause they're really good).
