I was never whole in the first place, maybe that's where everything wrong came from.
As a child I was defined by my need to fit in, to not make my mother mad, to make my father smile. To dance when my grandfather asks me to, despite the ache in my belly, i swayed my hips with fervent enthusiasm, they love it especially when it seems like my ribs will break, and never did. It meant i was flexible and special. So despite the pain i learned to smile through it. I was pretty good. Even when i didn't want to, i sang the highest notes of my father's favorite song until my throat feels scratchy and my voice cracked. Now as an adult i can't sing without my throat closing up, it turns out i overused my voice as a child for the pleasure of my parents.
I have always been a performer, even as a little child.
As i grew up i learned to rearrange my pieces to fit the world without knowledge that i'm doing it, over and over, as many times as i have to. It's almost natural. Maybe that's why i was friends with everyone, feeling utterly alienated at the same time, i drift from friend groups to another, an expert at shifting my manner of talking as i play my part. My dread is having to watch every world i created collide, i can't face my different friend groups in the same room, i am a walking contradiction.
I don't exist outside the parts i play. If somebody asked me what my favourite song is, i will panic, 'it has to be something they would like too' i would think, so i will just say i have none, after all, i'm as much a stranger to myself as i am to everyone. Sometimes i don't even know if this sadness is my own, or a projection created to make me feel like a person. I'm a mirror, reflecting the light of everyone near me, i have no colour of my own, so when at last alone with no light to reflect, i am left with a resounding empty blackness. I am particles of the negative traits of my mother and my father, a glued up composition of the pretty pieces picked up from every person i wanted to be, patched with the hands of victor frankenstein. I am just other people, my skin made of grafts and stitches, my heart empty and full at the same time. pretending to be real, i am a masterful liar.
I never was whole. Maybe that's where everything wrong came from. Or maybe it's my desire to be loved that brought forth my impending downfall.

Coney Island
To Zane Lowe (at 36mins) Taylor talked about Coney Island being about male regret and place everyone wanted to be but now with the lights are off. In this Lyric video Taylor referenced Harry's winding wheels, a metaphor for soulmates. It is co-written with William Bowery, Joe has no credit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winding Wheel
The Winding Wheel is a Ryan Adams’ song. (Ryan made a rock cover album of 1989). There is a post about it here. Ryan described it as a metaphor for an “ultimate soulmate”.
13 December 2013, Harry posted 'better still be my winding wheel' on Taylor's birthday. Say don't go was written 2 weeks later.
27 February 2015, the first photos of Taylor with Calvin were posted and Harry posted an overgrown winding wheel to IG
11 January 2018, Taylor put a Ferris Wheel in the open of End Game
11 December 2020, this Lyric Video has a ferris wheel
This is very long, this song hits so many classic Haylor themes that its dense. When it is all written out like this it boggles my mind people would think it is about another muse or several.
Taylor also said on radio about Coney Island:
"Aaron Dessner sent me this track that he created with his brother Bryce, and I wrote the lyrics and the melody with William Bowery. I was coming from a place of somebody who’s been in a relationship for decades and wakes up one day & realizes that they have taken their partner for granted. It speaks to people who are trying to communicate - but they’re two ships passing in the night. They’re trying to love each other but their signals are somehow missing each other.”
She also said ships in the nights about Exile in that interview and in the lyrics of Willow.
Live performances
Coney Island has been played live once, 28 April 2023 in Atlanta. This is one day before the High Infidelity anniversary of April 29. The other song was The Other Side of the Door which has similar theme of wanting a lover back and regret for ruining a relationship.
Lyrics
[Verse 1: Taylor Swift] Break my soul in two looking for you But you're right here If I can't relate to you anymore Then who am I related to?
The opening verse does not pull punches, it ends with 'if I can't relate to who then who am I related to?' Taylor and Harry have a lot of shared history, similar careers and while no one is as big as Taylor Harry is in a small group who can relate. They have respectively sung about being each others soulmate. To loose that is devastating.
Breaking her soul looking is similar to:
Don't blame me "For you, I would cross the line / fall from grace"
Illicit affairs "And you know damn well / For you I would ruin myself / …a million little times"
Slut! "And if they call me a slut / You know it might be worth it for once"
And if this is the long haul How'd we get here so soon? Did I close my fist around something delicate? Did I shatter you?
This again refers to this concept that even apart they are each others person, so to feel they aren’t connecting is a loss
Closing her fist around something Delicate is a reference to the song, which is also about Harry, more on why here. Shattering him is a reference to Falling, to be so lonely. and possibly renegade. Shattered pieces are also in mirrorball.
[Chorus: Taylor Swift] And I'm sitting on a bench in Coney Island Wondering, where did my baby go? The fast times, the bright lights, the merry go Sorry for not making you my centerfold
The fast times, bright lights describe their life, the place to be:
I Know Places: "Lights flash and we’ll run for the fences"
Wonderland: "Flashing lights and we took a wrong turn and we fell down a rabbit hole"
New Romantics: "We’re all here, the lights and noise are blinding"
Is it Over Now: "And did you think I didn't see you? / There were flashin' lights"
Merry-go round, and lost again with no surprises, disappointments refers to the cyclical nature of their relationship.
Blank Space: "But you’ll come back each time you leave"
Style: "And when we go crashing down we come back every time"
Cardigan: "And I knew you’d come back to"me"
OOTW "We were built to fall apart / Then fall back together (back together)"
Sorry for not making me your centerfold breaks my heart, meaning sorry you were not her end game when she thought he would stay with Joe. Lets take Labyrinth as a nice sequel.
Over and over Lost again with no surprises Disappointments, close your eyes And it gets colder and colder When the sun goes down
Maroon "How the hell did we lose sight of us again? Sobbin' with your head in your hands Ain't that the way shit always ends?" The chorus ends sadly, with it getting colder and colder the longer it goes on like that.
Taylor has referred to watching sunsets with Harry, usually in happy, wistful times, but here it is sad, the sun is setting on them. Sunsets are also in:
Out Of The Woods: When you started crying, baby, I did, too, but when the sun came up I was looking at you
Wildest Dreams: "Say you’ll remember me standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset, babe"
It’s Nice To Have A Friend: Light pink sky up on the roof, sun sinks down, no curfew
Harry and Taylor also posted Sunset photos in Cannes a year apart, which Taylor referenced in the promotion for Cruel Summer, Slut!'s music video also had a similar sky.
[Verse 2: Matt Berninger with Taylor Swift] The question pounds my head What's a lifetime of achievement If I pushed you to the edge But you were too polite to leave me?
The lifetime achievement having no meaning without this muse reflects a theme that Harry and Taylor have sung about the cost of fame in Mirrorball, your on your own kid and Sign of the Times. In Suburban Legends Taylor sings "I didn't come here to make friends We were born to be suburban legends" which to me plays into the idea that they put their careers first and the relationship suffered.
Suburban Legends "I broke my own heart 'cause you were too polite to do it"
And do you miss the rogue Who coaxed you into paradise and left you there? Will you forgive my soul When you're too wise to trust me and too old to care?
Taylor describes Harry as a rogue is a troublemaker Harry has been in IKYWT, "you were trouble", 22 "you look like bad news" Style "James Dean daydream" and Ready for it? "Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him". Harry has also described himself this way in Trouble "You know i’m trouble / I’m trouble with you"
He coaxed her into paradise and left her there in the Virgin Isles in Now that we don't talk and famously the boat.
[Chorus: Taylor Swift with Matt Berninger] 'Cause we were like the mall before the internet It was the one place to be The mischief, the gift-wrapped suburban dreams Sorry for not winning you an arcade ring
Taylor talks about the line of the mall before the internet because it was the one place to be to Zane Lowe, linked above. I love this line, they were the one place to be, the two biggest pop stars in love. I also find a parallel in this line and August, "And say, "Meet me behind the mall" August being the other person, not Harry and Taylor, they meet behind the mall which Harry and Taylor are.
Gift-wrapped suburban dreams refers to Suburban Legends, where Harry and Taylor are the idols of suburbia. "We were born to be suburban legends [...] We were born to be national treasures/ When you told me we'd get back together"
Similar to the centerfold line, not winning you an arcade ring is saying sorry for not getting back together as they had thought. Falling is Harry's perspective on this belief that Taylor would stay with someone else. This time I will choose SOTB as my sequel track. ;)
[Bridge: Taylor Swift, Matt Berninger, Both] Were you waiting at our old spot In the tree line by the gold clock Did I leave you hanging every single day? Were you standing in the hallway With a big cake, happy birthday
In the unreleased Hunger Harry indicates they may have broken up on his birthday "We could ruin a perfect night / On my birthday I made you cry". This may have been in 2015, they had been seen together in late 2014, up to 2 weeks before Harry's birthday. Then Taylor was in Nashville on his birthday and she met CH 3 weeks later.
Hallways are also in 10 songs, generally meeting in them, but here they break up. Taylor also mentioned the birthday line to Zane Lowe as the album came out just before her birthday.
Did I paint your bluest skies the darkest grey? A universe away And when I got into the accident The sight that flashed before me was your face But when I walked up to the podium I think that I forgot to say your name
The accident is a reference to the Snow mobile accident in Is it over now? and OOTW: "Remember when you hit the brakes too soon / Twenty stitches in a hospital room / When you started crying, baby, I did too / But when the sun came up, I was looking at you"
To me, I forgot to say your name at the podium is a reference to Taylors 2013 VMA speech where she said "I'd like to say the person who inspired this song, you know exactly who you are, and now I have one of these!" Harry and Taylor were both musicians, the inspired each other and as evidenced by still writing to each other 10 years later this speech diminished that.
Harry’s unreleased Talk and includes “You forgot my name / Sick and tired of me, I can feel the heat” which, no one forgets his name so I take it as referring to the podium.

Ahn Yujin - We'll make this work
Pairing: Ahn Yujin x Female Reader (Highschool AU)
Fandom: IZ*ONE / IVE
Requested by: Anonymous
Request: I would like to ask a Yujin fic that ends with fluff pls (It can starts with angst or not)
I was thinking of sth like the lyrics of cruel summer / mirrorball by Taylor Swift
Summary: You fell for Yujin despite your parents and friends being against it causing you to be in a secret relationship. Even though you wanted to be with the older girl, you still had some worries.
A/N: It's more based on Cruel Summer but I think I kind of lost track of the song and just went with it so sorry about it😅
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3rd's POV
"Hey Y/N" You turned your head seeing Yuna running up to you. Her smile was bright as always when she engulfed you into the biggest hug you've had today. After pulling away from you she gave you a note "Here, one of my classmates asked me to give this to you. Don't know what it is though" You took a piece of paper from her and opened it. Yuna tried to peek and see what was inside but you hid it more from her causing a whine to leave her lips, you chuckled at her reaction.
You took another look at the note and saw that it was a confession. It was sweet but you knew that you couldn't share the same feeling for that person as they had for you.
"Who gave it to you?" You asked her after you gave it back to her so she could see what it was "Oh Haewon. Wait what? It's a confession? That's so cute, you should totally go for it Y/N" She squealed, shaking your shoulder in excitement. You shook your head at her idea "No can do unnie. She's nice but I'm not into her" Yuna's excitement died down at your words.
"Then who are you into? I've never heard you talk about anyone" You smiled at her words knowing damn well that you were good at hiding your feelings. It was a blessing for you because everytime you were into someone, Yuna and your other friends had no clue who and couldn't tease you about it.
Just as you were about to leave for your another class, a group of students walked down the hallway causing whispers to appear left and right. Looking in their direction you saw Yujin and her friends walking in your direction. Your heart stopped when she stopped right in front of you and you were face to face with the biggest playgirl of this school. She started closing the distance between you two until your faces were inches apart.
"Call me" She whispered as she slipped a piece of a paper in your right hand and without another word she left, leaving you frozen next to your locker with Yuna who observed the whole scene with wide eyes.
"What the hell?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You shouldn't do that Y/N. Trust us, we're saying this for your own good" Your best friend Minji said after you and Yuna told your friends the story from two hours ago. Hanni fed you a bit of her own food as she agreed with Minji "Yeah, I don't think she's a good person for you" You took a bite that Hanni offered you and thought about what they said. It's true that Yujin was infamous around the whole school and it was risky.
But you couldn't deny that she was charming, probably why it was so easy for her to find new girls every week.
Yizhuo saw your conflicted expression and sighed "Just... whatever you'll do, be careful okay?" You nodded. You know that your friends were only worried about you but you couldn't deny that despite all the things you've heard about Yujin, you still wanted to call her.
You didn't know if this was a good idea, you'll have to see what happens.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's exactly what you did. You called the Ahn Yujin that your friends warned you about and even your parents who pretty much knew about her already from your sister Chaewon, they even heard about her giving you her number and gave you a talk to not call her but as much as you love and respect your parents, Yujin's whole person attracted you too much.
It didn't took long for you to agree to be her girlfriend, unfortunately knowing how everyone will react both of you decided to keep it a secret. A year later into your relationship you noticed that Yujin wasn't as bad as everyone potrayed her to be. As soon as you started dating she stopped flirting and meeting up with all the girls at your school which was a big deal to everyone because they couldn't believe that the infamous Yujin would ever stop playing with girls hearts.
Your relationship was still a secret. You would often find yourself with Yujin in an empty classroom talking or just simply making out and after school she would drive you to different places around the city and you would come back home pretty late which your sister and parents didn't appreciate.
And there were also times like this when you would sneak out of your house at 2 AM just to hop into Yujin's car and just drive wherever the roads took you two. Moments like these were the ones you felt the happiest, were you could just be with Yujin and forget all about your friends and family and their nagging for a moment.
Yujin found some cliff with a beautiful view and decided to park the car there. As soon as she did, her head immediately turned in your direction and she gave you her cutest eye smile that always melted your heart. She took your hand in her and kissed the back of it before looking at you with eyes filled with so much love that you couldn't believe that this is a girl who a year ago was playing with girls hearts like it's a game.
It's unfortunate that you need to hide though.
Noticing your sudden rather sad expression Yujin frowned "Hm? What's up?" You weren't sure if you wanted to tell her what you were thinking about for the last few weeks. What if she thinks that you're not happy with her? You were happy... just a little unsure of the future "It's well... nothing important" You tried to brush it off but Yujin was having none of that.
"No baby, if it makes you even a little upset then it's a big deal to me. Tell me, maybe I can help you somehow" You sighed, you knew that you had to tell her the truth but you were still scared. Noticing this Yujin squeezed your hand to give you a little bit more encouragement and support.
"The truth is, I'm a little scared of the future. I love you Yujin and I really want to be with you but what later? What happens to us in the future? No one supports our relationship, they said that it's for my well-being because you'll eventually hurt me, I know that you won't but what if in the end, they won't accept us or try to make us break up? I don't want us to end" You looked down, you spilled everything that weighed on your heart for weeks now.
Yujin listened to your every word carefully before thinking of what to answer "Well... I won't let them" She put her index finger under your chin and made you look up at her. Her eyes soft as she looked at you with sincerity "I don't care what your friends and family think of me. I know that I wasn't the best person before and I'm still not but ever since I met you I'm trying to become a better person. If your parents and friends won't accept me, I'll still be with you if they like it or not. They won't stop us from loving each other. Don't worry about the future so much, when it comes to our relationship I know one thing for sure, we'll make this work no matter what" She finished and wiped the tears that managed to fall from your eyes when you listened to her.
"I... yeah you're right. As long as we love each other we can get through it" You smiled at her and she felt so content with finally seeing a big smile from you. Soon she started leaning in and captured your lips in a gentle kiss. The more you kissed the more you craved more so you pulled her closer by her shirt. She pulled away from you slightly and gave you a smirk to which you immediately replied "Oh shut up, don't even say anything and just kiss me" She laughed at that and kissed you again because honestly you didn't had to tell her twice.
She was more than happy to continue kissing you, you had pretty much a good amount of time before she had to drive you back home so she was going to use it to kiss all your worries away.

I'm getting back into Haikyuu now and was wondering what the Karasuno players and managers favourite Taylor Swift song would be. Due to the fact that we don't actually know their taste in music I tried to find songs that fit their character. Sometimes I had no idea and was a little silly in my reasoning.
I didn't read the manga yet so I only use the things I know from season 1-4 of the anime (ok mostly but I won't spoiler anything). I also only watched the dub in my native language and not in english. Sorry if I translated something wrong.
Daichi
This one is probably the hardest for me but after imagining him in a Cowboy hat I'd say Tim McGraw. He likes the classic (because I have literally no idea)
Sugawara
Suga gives me big Speak Now vibes and I really can't tell you why. I was scrolling through all TS songs but I always came back to SN specifically Back to december and Enchanted.
Asahi
He's trying to look wild and he's got quite some reputation that isn't always true. So no matter what to me he is a reputation guy. So he is either vibing to I did something bad to feel cool and badass (because same) or he is listening to something like Call it what you want because he's a soft guy.
Nishinoya
Nishinoya seems to be like the type of person who likes rap so I think he'd like songs like ready for it?. But I can also see him liking Vigilante Shit.
Tanaka
Also seems like more of the rap guy so I'd say End game. He probably took notes after listening to How you get the girl for the first time as well.
Ennoshita
The archer. There is no reason for it.
Kinoshita&Narita
If someone asked me to tell you something about these two I'd know nothing. I'm sorry.
Kageyama
When it's about relatability I'd say this is me trying for obvious reasons but Kageyama doesn't seem like the folklore guy to me. Maybe bad blood or something?
Hinata
My first thought was that I'd give him a fun song from 1989 but than I thought about Mean. Hinata works hard but is told how his technique is bad countless of times. Mean could really be his "fuck all of you" song (metaphorical of course)
Tsukishima
Does he even listens to Taylor Swift? I'm not sure about that and if he did I doubt he would openly admit it. But if he did I can see him listening to folklore. More specifically the lakes (he would probably be annoyed with anything social media related)
Yamaguchi
He probably could also relate to Mean in some way. But I think he would love tolerate it and mirrorball as well. But he'd probably have a soft spot for the Red album.
Kiyoko
I was spoilered badly for her future after the time skip which is why I can't explain myself without spoilering the non manga readers. So I'm just gonna say the song: Glitch.
Yachi
For Yachi I see two options. The more predictable one would be A place in this world from the debut album because she's our favourite villager B (or however it was translated in your language) or fearless. The second option would be that she's the kind of girl who looks like she would like cheerful songs but she's actually a fan of heavy metal music. And Taylor Swift said that reputation is her most metal album (I realize it's not actually metal but it's funny to me that she said this). In that case I think her favourite song would be I did something bad.

☆.。.:* - *:.。.☆
The greenhouse was the last place James Potter wanted to be in today. Not because he hates it, no. He actually quite enjoys herbology class, it is interesting. He admits that only when Lily is around though. But today, it was raining knives out and it took a ten-minute walk from where James was to reach the greenhouse. He still had Quidditch practice for Merlin's sake, why was he even going there? It's not like anyone forced him to!
As much as Remus would throw in his face that he had a hero complex going on, he'd settle for believing he was simply a good person. James couldn't bear to see someone crying and not approach to try to even out the situation. Maybe bring a smile to the person's face.
Who wouldn't slip a smile whenever James Potter was around? He was completely sunshine in a human being's body.
He has a heart of gold as Lupin would describe. It can fit more than you can imagine in there. All the goodness in the world is probably shoved up in his chest.
That is why James was running after Regulus Black, getting drenched in the pouring rain as the Black boy reached the greenhouse and stormed in.
Regulus didn't realize James was behind him until his voice spoke up.
“Regulus,” James called out, causing the raven-haired boy to turn around startled. Regulus surprised expression quickly morphed into a cold glare.
“What.”
What indeed. What were you doing there, James?
“Why'd you run off?” James gulped down his nervousness, trying to sound more sure of himself. He never knew why but whenever Regulus was around his confidence would drop minus seventy percent. It was concerning.
“Why did you run after me?” Regulus snapped, plucking out a lily flower from one of the vases.
“It's bloody storming outside. You could've slipped!”
Cold gray eyes stared at James' hazel ones as if it could burn into his soul. “So?” Regulus frowned, plucking out another lily. James winced. He doesn't know why. “Is that why you came after me? To prevent me from slipping and making a fool out of myself? It's not like I've been doing exactly that for a year now.” The last part was a mere whisper. But James heard it. There were only two people inside the greenhouse. The glass caused a bit of an echo through the storm outside. Regulus' voice sounded scarier than it actually was.
“You're not a fool,” James' said, forehead creasing in thought. He wanted to figure out why Regulus would storm out like that. But the truth was right on his face. He had been just too damn thick to not see it sooner. Much like he did not realize Sirius feelings for Remus during all the longing looks and jealous glares he'd send every person that would remotely touch their Moony. Yes, James Potter was a bit oblivious in the romance department. As good as he was in Quidditch, he was just as bad at realising stuff right in front of him. Maybe it was the Potter bad-eyesight gene. He should've realized the redness around Regulus Black's cheeks every time he was having a study section with Remus Lupin was not from cold but from blushing.
Regulus was blushing because of Remus.
James' mind was a whirlwind of past encounters. He guessed his Moony friend really was the Casanova of Griffyndor, wasn't he?
“We can't really help who we fancy, Reg—” Sending an exasperated look in James' direction, Regulus turned away with a groan right after.
“Do not psychoanalyze me, Potter—”
“Psychic what?” That was the longest and most difficult word James has heard all of his life. Blacks and their damn pureblood etiquette. “Look, I'm just trying to help you.”
“Who said I needed your help?” Regulus snapped again, walking towards James as if he was going to strike him. “You come here in all your glory of saviour and then what? You don't even know what is going on!”
“Because you won't let me, Regulus!”
Silence overthrows their shouting match into soft tones.
“Why won't you let me?” James asked helplessly. He has tried to approach Regulus before. But it was to no use; he just wouldn't budge. Hell, even Peter was someone Regulus could hold a five-second conversation with. Why not James? What's wrong with James?
When Regulus turned his back on him, James sighed frustrated.
“You're stupid, you know? If you think he would notice anything and confess first, then you're just nuts, that's what you are.” James didn't let Regulus talk, so the raven-haired Black simply pressed his lips together. “Remus values friendship more than anything. So much that when he knew he fancied Sirius, what do you think he did? Huh? He shrank that into his chest as if it could disappear. But that's not what it does. It breaks you. It swallows you. Until you can't breathe anymore.”
The youngest Black stood quiet, staring at James. There was a curious glint in his gray eyes.
“With Sirius, it was the same thing. And I still think he fell first. Perhaps, I didn't realize it before. But since the first moment Padfoot put his eyes on Moony... Something happened. His eyes were more alive whenever Remus was around. Whenever Remus is around. That hasn't changed.” James meets Regulus' sharp gaze. “That isn't going to change. So, you have to move on. I'm not saying this as Sirius' best friend, I'm saying this as your friend, which I'm trying to be here. They love each other, there is no space for anyone else. At least not now. Please, Reg. You deserve better than someone that isn't fully there for you, alright?”
And it was the truth: Regulus had yet to see James until that moment. Until those words spurted out of his lips. Kind and pure words of concern over him. No one had ever said something like that—so caring—to Regulus.
“Why?”
James tilted his head. He looks exactly like a lost puppy, thought Regulus and he mentally scoffed.
“Why what, Reg?”
Reg.
It was different from 'Reggie', which was what Remus would call him.
Why was he even delaying on this?
“Why would you say that I deserve better?” Regulus stood in front of James, scrutinizing him with his eyes. James took a sharp intake of breath, feet retracting to get some space on their own. “We barely know each other.”
“And whose fault is that?” James found himself blurting out, shakily with their proximity.
“As far as I know you're not very fond of Slytherins, Potter...”
“Bullshit!”
Regulus' eyebrow twitched slightly, “Really?”
James scoffed, taking a step back cautiously. “Might be true that I don't like some of your... friends,” Regulus scowled at him, “But I never argued with you, did I? I even tried once... You just never gave me a chance.” A chance to what? Become friends? With Regulus Black? Is that what you wanted, James?
How exactly would that work?
“You have your chance now,” Regulus said lowly, studying James with something he couldn't figure out. Slightly terrifying. James never knew what Regulus was thinking. He looked a lot like Sirius but acted completely different.
James' breath hitched when Regulus touched his tie, adjusting it as if it was nothing.
“What then, James?” James? He- he never called me James... “What are you gonna do so we can be friends?” Their breathing was mixing together and James simply couldn't move. His limps were glued and Regulus was smirking.
When the expected rejection didn't arrive, Regulus crashed his lips on Potter's.
Of anything James could think at that moment, the only thought that echoed in his mind was how could someone act so cold yet their lips be so warm and soft?
James didn't realize the movements his body made in response to the kiss, but his hand gripped the back of Regulus' neck as if his life depended on it. Their lips weren't in sync at first because James had no idea what was happening. Until his brain shortcuts and every limb in his body moved on its own.
Regulus' ego might have burst at that, but he would never ever in a million centuries admit that out loud.
Why in Merlin's name am I kissing James Potter? His mind yelled. He promptly ignored it.
A loud noise of crashing made both break apart startled. That was the minute James' brain turned back on.
“What...” James begins, breath failing slightly. Regulus took his breath away. Literally. “I--”
“It stopped raining,” Regulus commented, studying the sky through the glassed windows of the greenhouse — it wasn't completely sunny but the heavy thunderstorm had stopped. It was possible to walk back without getting drenched now. “Safe for you to go now, Potter. Your made-of-sugar-body won't be destroyed.”
“Where do you think you're going?” James grabbed his forearm, making Regulus tense. “What was that?”
“That was the weather coming alive again. Are you familiar with rain, James? The act of condensed water that forms clouds and then droplets—”
“Reg!” James stomped. Stomped his foot on the ground. And Regulus couldn't keep the laugh roaming inside him. James turned red in frustration. “You just- just-did that!”
Regulus sighed, “You need me to explain what a kiss is too? I thought your Lily flower taught you that...”
Oh.
Oh.
Lily.
He had a date with Lily this weekend and he had kissed Regulus Black!
No. Regulus had kissed him. Definitely not the other way around.
“It is hurting your brain to think hard, Potter?”
“If you don't shut up—”
“Unless you'd like me to shut you up, again...”
James huffed, “You're just using me to make yourself feel better, Black! Remus doesn't reciprocate your feelings so by snogging your brother's best friend— what does that accomplish, exactly?” James snapped, narrowing Regulus down as he stepped closer. The youngest Black tensed. “Making Sirius be slightly mad at me or even farther from you?”
Regulus would give Potter five points for considerating this through. He hadn't thought James was possible to have a single cruel bone in his body, but this had been just...
No. Potter would not get to you. Do you hear yourself? You're better than this. Regulus subconscious grumbled.
“Try explain to him why you kissed me back then,” Regulus smirked, looking him up-down. By the way James clenched his jaw he knew he had the upper hand again. “And why, deep down, you'd like to do it again.” The last part was a whisper; one that would hunt James Potter's dreams for the rest of the semester.
Regulus walked out of the greenhouse with his ego trumping but a still broken heart. It was better than nothing, right?
He had lost something that night, but perhaps it wasn't so bad. He had gained another even if he didn't realize it at that moment.

taylor songs i haven't written for
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU REQUEST
this is a list of every taylor swift song and i'll be marking off ones i've written for as i continue writing. i am open to writing multiple for the same song, but if you want to request one with a song that hasn't been written yet, this is the place to go!
my hardcore swifties will notice this list is missing several songs. i typed this list out manually and chose to skip over songs i am not comfortable with writing, whether that be because of the song's personal connection to taylor or myself or simply because i do not want to write something based on it. if you have a favorite song by taylor that is one i took off, please don't make a request for it.
I DO NOT WRITE NSFW, please do not request that. i will happily write things that are suggestive. i'm also not great with angst, but i can do it if necessary :)
requests do not have to based on taylor songs! they don't even have to be based on songs. as long as you are operating within the rules stated above i will take any requests!
an asterisk (*) indicates a song that has multiple entries based on it.
a pen 🖊️ indicates a work for this song is in progress!

Yesterday, Sunday, I went to The Eras Tour. I was supposed to go on friday but it got cancelled, so my concert ended up being the last one in Argentina; and by the way, this was my first concert ever,
This was the most magical and exciting experience of my life. I don't even know what to say, but I'm so so happy we made Taylor feel so loved and we showed the power of our crowd to her.
Tumblr media
I will talk about this concert, one. era. at a time.
Before the concert began, I talked with the girl who was on the seat next to me; she was so nice! I gave her bracelets. We talked about our favourite albums, which surprise songs we wanted... that was so relieving for me, since I am so so SO shy and I was feeling so nervous.
1. Lover
It's been a long time coming for sure. I was already screaming the songs, I was tearing up, I couldn't believe I was there. It all felt like a dream... It was funny to sing "You Need To Calm Down", when I was the one who needed to calm down!! hahaha.  When Lover started, I felt the need to hug someone and I NEVER hug people; that's the power Taylor has.
2. Fearless
Oh god. This era was when my mind started going "this can't be happening. oh my god. this is awesome. i need to contact little me and tell her what's going on. oh my god oh my god.". I grew up more with Red and 1989, but there were songs from Fearless (debut and speak now, too) that I've been listening to forever (& always). You Belong With me is one of them. There was a thing Spotify made last year, it was like a time capsule of songs, one of the questions was "which song would you want to hear live this year?", and I chose "You Belong With Me".        It happened.        My mind remembers the music video, hating the cheerleader, loving the nerd, the story this song tells will always warm my heart.
3. Evermore
This era was so chaotic and fun and it felt like I was watching a movie!! I mean, Tolerate It and Willow? AHHHHHHHHHH. Before Champagne Problems, Taylor said that it took her a while (yeah haha) to come to Argentina and she's never going to make that mistake again. So possibly for her next tour she'll come here again and I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. reputation
EVERYONE WAS SCREAMING "VA A REPUTAAAAAAR!! AAAAAAAAAAHhh!!". I got to experience the "1, 2, 3, let's go bitch" in person!! and I listened to the high notes in Ready For It? and Don't Blame Me live!!!!!!!!! AND Look What You Made Me Do live was HEALING. IT WAS A HEALING EXPERIENCE, it just hit so hard!!! GOOOOOD.
5. Speak Now
Ah ah ah, Ah ah ah. I WAS ENCHANTED TO MEET YOU, TAYLOR. Seeing her in that gorgeous dress, singing Enchanted: it was a fairytale. And I cried my eyes out during Long Live. SOMEDAY, WE WILL BE REMEMBERED.
6. Red
I remember this album (the original version) was the latest album Taylor had released when I found out about her and her music. So hearing these songs live was magical. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22! Also, honourable mention to Taylor's dancer who screamed "¡ni en pedo!" the three nights. I LOVED THAT. I Knew You Were Trouble is an ICONIC Taylor Swift song and I'm so happy I got to experience it. And of course, All Too Well... the whole stadium was red. All the bracelets were burning red. Everyone screamed "fuck the patriarchy!". I'll remember this all too well.
7. folklore
"So we have brought the folklore cabin to Argentina, haven't we?". folklore is another album that feels like a movie, or a book; when you see Taylor laying down and singing "you meet some woman on the internet and take, her, home..." you forget you're in the stadium full of people for a second. Betty! oh god! I will never forgive James for what he did to you. I'm sorry I sing along to every line of his apology. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD and that transition, from August to Illicit Affairs- AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Illicit Affairs is my second favourite song on folklore (after mirrorball). DON'T. CALL. ME. KID. DON'T. CALL. ME. BABY.
8. 1989
I stayed out too late last night and I loved every second of it. I danced a lot during the 1989 era and it was so so fun. I adore the Bad Blood coreography; and the fact that there was FIRE during this song. AHHHHHH. I could feel the heat!! It was awesome!!!
SURPRISE SONGS
Was this even real? I still can't believe it. She sang BETTER THAN REVENGE. I thought she'd never EVER sing this song again. Better Than Revenge is the song I play in my bedroom so loud that if someone screams in another room, I wouldn't hear them. It's one of my favourite songs. I could have never guessed this was going to be my surprise song, however, I am MORE than happy that it was.
Then, "Slut!". This was such a clever combination, I mean, Better than Revenge + Slut? It's so great. I remember when I first listened to Slut, it felt so nostalgic (well, probably because it was written 10 years ago haha). Taylor's voice was magical.
instagram
9. Midnights
And finally, Midnights. I started to feel a bit sad because I knew that the show was about to end now, but I decided to give it my all and 'be the loudest woman this town has ever seen'. Lavender Haze, Anti-Hero, Midnight Rain, Vigilante Shit, Bejeweled, Mastermind, Karma... every song was phenomenal. I love how she made the decision to end the show with Karma, such a fun song to leave us dancing and wanting more. Thank you, Taylor Swift. I love you. !!

Counting by 3’s on folklore tells the story of Taylor
3. The last great American dynasty
6. Mirrorball
9. This is me trying
12. Mad woman
15. Peace
LGAD is the introduction. It tells the story of a home and a person whose life mirrored Taylor’s in many ways. It’s a way of telling you the story before telling you the story.
Mirrorball is who Rebekah’s neighbors thought she was everyone had an opinion about her but the only people that knew the truth were the people in holiday house.
“Hush, when no one is around, my dear.”
“They said it must’ve been her fault his heart gave out.”
This is me trying is tied to Mirrorball and LGAD as it describes the mental state of the person behind the stories.
“I've never been a natural all I do is try, try, try.”
“They say she was seen on occasion pacing the rocks staring out at the midnight sea.”
“Pulled the car off the road to the lookout could've followed my fears all the way down.”
Mad woman is tied to LGAD through the people in town’s description of Rebekah. It is tied to mirrorball and this is me trying through the depression that comes from being talked about so ruthlessly just because you don’t fit in. It is the anger and frustration that comes from someone who thinks less of you coupled with you’re own self worth issues that you’re an outsider.
“Who knows, if she never showed up what could've been. There goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen.”
“The masquerade revelers drunk as they watch my shattered edges glisten”
“I've been having a hard time adjusting I had the shiniest wheels, now they're rusting”
“I'm taking my time, taking my time ‘cause you took everything from me. Watching you climb, watching you climb over people like me.”
Peace is the end result of a person who has been so broken by the outside world that they can’t even see past the darkness of depression and anxiety. It’s what happens to a person who has someone they love (like Rebekah in her house and Mirrorball when no is around my dear) but the outside world has destroyed their resolve. It’s the conversation in the house.
“‘Cause there's robbers to the east, clowns to the west. I'd give you my sunshine, give you my best but the rain is always gonna come if you're standing with me”
Conclusion
This is the story of mental illness depression and anxiety that comes from outside perspectives. As positive as people try to spin it publicly, behind closed doors imagine how close they could be to ending it. Then imagine trying to love someone going through that.

BETTY AND JAMES, THE WHOLE STORY:
I have obviously been listening to Folklore since the day it came out and I think most of the songs in the album are part of the story, even though I know some are just abou Taylor’s personal life, I like to link them all together and turn the album almost into a musical haha
Here’s the sequence of my version of it, let me know what you think!
1) Seven, sang by James
He talks about how he had to be mature even from an young age (“I hit my peak at seven”), probably because of family issues and so he kind of closed himself for others (“I was too scared to jump in”), but now he is ready for a relationship with Betty (“I think you should come live with me” even though I don’t think they will literally live together, but just be with each other), who didn’t come from an easy childhood either (“your dad is always mad”).
2) Peace, sang by Betty
She feels haunted by her past (“No I could never give you peace”), but she wants to be with James and this is her opening her heart to him (“I'd give you my sunshine, give you my best”).
3) Invisible String, sang by Betty
This is the relationship in her view, how she fell in love with James after some bad relationships (“A string that pulled me out of all the wrong arms”). She feels like being with him is mending all her broken bones (“Time, mystical time, cutting me open then healing me fine”).
4) Mirrorball, sang by The Mistress
This girl is in love with James and she does everything to try to get his attention (“I’m still trying everything to keep you looking at me”). She has low self esteem and is a straight up pleaser, she needs attention and gets it from men who just want to use her (“The regulars (...) drunk as they watch my shattered edges glisten”), but her heart beats for James and she’ll have him even if just as an affair (“Hush when no one is around, my dear”).
5) August, sang by The Mistress
One day, she drives by James walking alone, a sad look on his face and she decides it’s now or never. She pulls over and calls him in and to her surprise, he accepts (“Whispers of ‘are you sure?’”) and that’s how the affair started. They were together for little over a month (August), but James called it off when Betty found out and he decided he loved her and wants to be with her.
6) Hoax, sang by Betty
This is when Inez, a gossiper friend, tells Betty about James’ affair and Betty is heartbroken (“Your faithless love's the only hoax I believe in”). She feel betryed, not only because he was with someone else, but because she felt like he was the only one who accepted her despite her past (“You knew it still hurts underneath my scars from when they pulled me apart, but what you did was just as dark”).
7) Illicit Affairs, sang by The Mistress
She is also heartbroken after James ends things with her to try to make it up to Betty and she looks back to their relationship. She is lost and angry, but she still wants him (“Look at this idiotic fool that you made me. You taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else and you know damn well, for you, I would ruin myself a million little times”).
8) Betty, sang by James
After some time, James gather courage to go talk to Betty and try to explain to her what had happened. After 3 years, their relationship was not as it once was and James was really jealous of one of Betty’s friends. After a fight, he saw her dancing with him and left the party, that’s when The Mistress found him and the whole thing started. He is parked in front of Betty’s house, who is having a party, picturing the moment and song ends when he walks to the door.
9) Mad Woman, sang by The Mistress
James got to Betty’s house and was trying to explain himself in the middle of every one who was at the party. Betty takes him somewhere more private for them to talk, but that part is all the Mistress sees, and so she believe they got back together (“It's obvious that wanting me dead has really brought you two together”). She gets really mad and starts yelling at them, while all Betty wanted was not to make a scene (“She should be mad, should be scathing like me”).
10) This Is Me Trying, sang by James
Literally, this is him trying. He apologizes to her (“It's hard to be at a party when I feel like an open wound. It's hard to be anywhere these days when all I want is you”) and says that he never loved her the way he loved Betty (“Pouring out my heart to a stranger, but I didn't pour the whiskey”), but she is still upset and doesn’t want to listen to him.
11) Cardigan, sang by Betty
Betty’s response to James’ apology. She doesn’t accept it, she won’t tolerate being cheated on and is still really hurt because she trusted him with her past (“You drew stars around my scars, but now I'm bleeding”). She knew he would regret it and try to get back together (“I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired and you'd be standin' in my front porch light”).
12) Exile, sang by James and Betty
Betty turns down James quite quickly, she doesn’t want to hear his apologies (“And it took you five whole minutes to pack us up and leave me with it, holdin' all this love out here in the hall”). She turns around and seek comfort in the very same friend James was so jealous about (“I can see you staring, honey, like he's just your understudy, like you'd get your knuckles bloody for me”). Their relationship is over.
13) My Tears Ricochet, sang by The Mistress
After the scene she made at Betty’s party, the emotions sink in and she regrets what she said (“I didn't have it in myself to go with grace”). Still, she is very mad at James for leaving her like that and just going back to Betty - even though we know that’s not what happened - and is now predicting he will miss her too (“Cursing my name, wishing I stayed, look at how my tears ricochet”).
14) The 1, sang by Betty
They go their separate ways and run into each other after a few years (they dated when they were 17, now they’re in their 20s) and have that awkward moment, when you meet an ex, making small talk. Betty forgave him now, there are no hard feelings (“If you never bleed, you're never gonna grow and it's alright now”) and she knows their relationship wasn’t perfect, but she still wonders if he never cheated, if they would still be together, because deep down, they still love one another (“If one thing had been different, would everything be different today?”).
@taylorswift what do you think?
Here’s my playlist following the order I believe the story to happen in: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1l3b8oyQoemV2fnqiS3Tgj?si=nRxgw-g4SaaSwpW1feIfEA

Note
the 1, the last great american dynasty, my tears ricochet, mirrorball, betty. I'm sorry If it's too many lol
the 1; who’s someone that you miss?
Oof there’s a few people I could put here, not gonna lie. But I think the person I miss the most is my estranged sister. To quote Taylor, she’s my “Peter losing Wendy”.
the last great american dynasty; what’s the most chaotic thing you’ve done?
I’m quite a boring person so I think the most chaotic thing would probably when I was offered a law undergraduate spot (on top of my psychology one) and took it despite not feeling smart enough + not wanting a career in law or when I decided that rather than saving my corona supplement money, I was going to finish my book collection (new books + old childhood series I only owned some of). So yeah sorry, I know that’s very boring, but when I’m in the right frame of mind, I’m a very by the book person who tries to avoid chaos lmao.
my tears ricochet; do you give second chances easily?
I feel like I forgive easily but don’t necessarily give out second chances easily. So like I’m very willing to believe people want to change and wish them the best but typically do not keep them in my life, or at least to the same capacity in my life while doing that.
mirrorball; what’s something you like about yourself?
That is the question, isn’t it? I think in general I like that I’m a good person, or at least I think so. I’m willing to fight for what’s right but will always try to promote positivity, love, understanding, forgiveness and kindness where I can.
betty; do you regret missing out on anything?
In general I feel like I said no to too many things I shouldn’t have in life, but I think the two things I regret not pushing myself to do earlier (for understandable but maybe not justifiable reasons) is making friends/talking to teachers while in university and moving in with my now ex-boyfriend when he asked several times.
