I’m sad that Luis still dies because it feels like they gave us so much new stuff about his character that’s kinda wasted (though this adds to the tragedy of it I suppose) but having his death be considered an honourable one and hearing Leon tell him “You were a fine knight, Don Quixote” just breaks my heart in a good way, I’m so happy they made Luis a legitimate character that we can care about and root for and that Leon caring about him feels genuine this time.

Cesare spouts like 12 extremely obscure references per minute during an average rant/"victory" speech, and the second Steve laughs/shows a hint of recognition at a single one of them, Cesare immediately mentally dials in like "oh, ok, so THIS is something he likes, remember that, remember that!" Because he wants to "gather intel on his target" and he's like "eheheh I've found a new way to get into his head in order to anticipate his every move and hunt him better!" But then over time he starts getting a little too invested in deciphering Steve's interests and sense of humor and he realizes he's only doing it because he likes it when Steve thinks something he said is clever or laughs at one of his jokes.

Mixed feelings! Glad it has an anime now and that ppl are enjoying it, because its really good!

I myself think its annoying when ppl are like "im gatekeeping x media bc its important to me 😡" so thats not how I feel on the other end. It has impacted lots of ppl so if it can get a bigger reach and impact more, thats good. ^_^

The funny thing is I've met ppl with both super deeply harmful and abusive occasionally incestuous family dynamics and I've met ppl with otherwise pretty regular romances to their sister or cousin or something. And it reminds me of how a guy I knew in HS told me age gaps are abusive because he was incompatible w his bf of 2 years older but i've known ppl who regularly date with larger gaps and are fine. Ymmv but if you only date people of your same class same age within 3 months same race etc etc. I think you have like some weird neurosis going on which is also not my business but I hope you become less anxious with experience and meeting different ppl and whatnot.

and (i try not to talk about this as much as possible but) it suggests Something about mav & goose’s relationship that the filmmakers thought his dog tags should go to mav instead of to Goose’s wife (though i acknowledge and appreciate the usefulness of the visual metaphor of him saying goodbye to goose at the end of TG) (though that visual metaphor was rendered completely moot by the whole of TGM showing that mav HASNT moved on from goose and only moves on once he has the chance to save roosters life [which is why i retconned it])

ALSO? i am sure I’m not the first person to talk about this? But, to add a second layer of confusion & analysis, uh, the dogtags mav throws into the ocean aren’t goose’s.

I’m reading “metcalf, mike” from the backside. Those are VIPER’s dogtags. for some reason.

now i choose to believe that’s a props issue… someone grabbed the wrong set of tags & they were like ehhh no one will notice… script supervisor not doing their fucking job… so i choose to believe the filmmakers MEANT goose’s dogtags & it doesn’t change the end of the movie for me.

But im interested to hear from you—does that change/add anything to anyone’s analysis to know that mav threw VIPER’s tags into the ocean? there are a lot of really weird implications that come from taking what is probably a props fuck-up at face value!!! (Viper giving mav his tags [weird], viper being mav’s surrogate dad figure, thereby this scene becomes about mav saying goodbye to his FATHER finally,.. etc.)
