Yes! The matchmaking god thing. In Chinese mythology the god of matchmaking and love is called 月老 (Yue Lao) - with the characters that mean "Moon" (月 Yue) and "Old" (老 Lao) because he's said to be an old man who lives on the moon.

So when 月公子 (Yue-gongzi) was first introduced I think Gong Zishang first calls him "Yue-gege" (Older Brother Yue) and he says something like "It's possible that I'm much older than your older brother"

Then she says "月公子 (Yue-gongzi) looks even younger than Jin Fan... how could you be old (老 lao)? If you keep insisting that you're old, then I'll have to call you 月老 (Yue Lao)"

It's just... such a dumb pun on his name and also a fantastically stupid pickup line and it made me laugh so much.

i feel like i talked about this with a friend, but the translations just. don't line up with what's being said a lot of the time and it's slightly driving me insane x - x

BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES WAS A BANGERRRRR

i had a blast watching this movie! in my opinion it was such a good, faithful adaptation of the book, it was such a joy to see all those scenes i knew so well brought to life (yes sure, i was aware of every little change, but for the most part i thought all the changes made sense for a movie adaptation. for example, making the games a bit more 'dynamic' especially for lucy gray makes sense since we don't have to follow coryo as closely as in the book. i do wish we could have seen more of clemensia after the snake bite, tho. the makeup effects would have looked so cool!). the movie looked gorgeous, the sets and the costumes were perfect, and all the actors knocked it out of the park! tom was SO GOOD as coriolanus, and rachel was incredible too, and her singing was absolutely perfect for lucy gray.

my most important thing was that i needed the last scene with them in the forest to truly feel like a horror movie, and my god they absolutely delivered. snow was fucking scary, and exactly as i had imagined, i was so so pleased to see that!

and of course...he was so hot. finnick forgive me but god, he was so handsome lmao. if villain why sexy.
