the goldfinch by donna tartt. it's one of the most beautiful books i've ever read and i have two hundred pages left. it's the perfect book for all times of the year with the wildness of summer, the gentleness of fall, the sadness of winter, and the self-exploration of spring. it's not even dark academia because it reads both like a classic novel and a fanfiction because it's so pretty but at the same time there's no tangible plot and there are sporadic flashbacks to recent months that were skipped over so we get context when needed. donna tartt drives me nuts and i love her.
