#where it suddenly clicks for jack that this poor kid is just scared and needs someone to be gentle with him
Note
ok I am officially invested in ur ted lasso-adjacent newsies au. tell me more 👀
ohoho don’t mind if i do!!
so. jack and race are my roy and jamie, because of course they are <3 and yes it’s hockey instead of football bc as rizz pointed out not too long ago, i already throw canadianisms into my dialogue without noticing, so now i can really lean into it lmaoo
jack is the captain of a fictional NHL team called the hamilton bobcats - he’s 34 years old and nearing the end (though he’d never admit that) of an incredibly successful career. he was once one of the biggest names in hockey, “the next gretzky” as people called him when he was first drafted, and he’s got stanley cup wins and olympic medals and everything you can think of under his belt. he’s also got a hot wife (kath) and 2 adorable kids and a mansion and a lamborghini, so he likes to think he’s doing pretty well.
race, on the other hand, is 19 - he’s just some kid from small-town alberta, still in the junior leagues, but he’s the #1 nhl draft prospect bc he’s got an unnatural level of talent for scoring and absolutely crazy stats… and everyone’s calling him “the next jack kelly” ;)
after a very shitty season (which definitely doesn’t have to do with jack being past his prime, no way), the bobcats manage to get first pick in the draft lottery, so of COURSE they sign race! pulitzer, the owner of the team, had been ready to stop at nothing to get him in a contract, so it’s lovely that it worked out so easily.
jack and race clash immediately, as soon as the new season starts - jack is a captain with a huge emphasis on the team culture of mutual respect and caring that he’s built over the years… and race is not used to that type of atmosphere at all, so he comes in, guns blazing, ready to be the best and fight his way to the top. he’s arrogant and rude, and it’s infuriating that he’s so goddamn good at playing and scoring goals that he can get away with his bad attitude. the other rookies (al and buttons and finch) flock to him, desperate to impress and get on his good side, and it throws a major wrench into how jack likes to run things.
cue plenty of arguing between those two, a sprace plot that i have yet to figure out the details of (except that spot plays for the habs bc ill jump on any chance to throw quebecois spot into another fic), and some eventual realization that maybe they can get along - likely spurred on by kath saying something along the lines of “jackie, you realize this whole rivalry thing you have going is with a child, right? he’s just a teenager,” prompting jack to reluctantly come to terms with the fact that all race actually needs is a mentor <3

I thought I have mental problem you know I walk while listening to music and start creating different scenarios sometimes when come out of it I feel maybe I was a saying it out loud or maybe mumbling and my family and people think I am talking to myself or turning my neck to talk to someone who isn't there so yeah there's that too

A Zoo Date? (Like really, Leon?)
Yes it’s more LeoVil. It’s vent-writing. I need to write something super cute between my other favorite couple besides Ace x Jade (WHO I SWEAR I WILL WRITE MORE FOR SOMEDAY WHEN I HAVE IDEAS) and Kalim x Jamil.
---
Leon called Vil about an hour before their date. “Hey, you ready to leave?”
“...We’re not leaving for another hour, right?”
“Yeah... Just wanted to make sure you weren’t planning on wearing makeup. It’s hot out today; you’re gonna look like a clown if you get all sweaty with all your usual makeup on.”
“You ask me on a date and then call me a clown?!”
Leon laughed at Vil’s tone, knowing that he’d definitely ruffled his feathers a bit. “Calm down. I’m just warning you, that’s all.”
Vil sighed. “I’m dressing casually, thank you. Having fashion sense doesn’t make me an idiot.”
“You sure?”
“Excuse you! Who got you out of the Mystery Shop that time?!”
Leon chuckled. “Thank you, Vil. I am ever so glad that I didn’t die in the Mystery Shop.”
“You’d better be grateful.” Leon heard shuffling over the phone, and the sound of clothing hangers moving.
“Are you still getting dressed?”
“Yes? Are you going to make a dumb comment if I am?”
“Would asking you to send a picture be dumb?”
“...I’m going to be there in fifteen, and I’m going to kick your ass.” Click.
He laughed at Vil’s reaction. It was so easy to push his buttons.
---
They managed to get to the zoo without Vil actually kicking Leon’s ass. (Mainly because Vil has no upper body strength and could never kick anyone’s ass.)
Leon handed Vil the map they got at the entrance. “Go ahead and pick where you wanna go first.”
Vil shrugged. “I don’t really care where we start. You pick.”
“Are you sure?” Leon asked with a hint of mischief in his voice.
Vil suddenly had a feeling he was going to regret those words.
---
“Leon, I don’t want to look at creepy bugs!” Vil squealed.
“Aw, but this one clearly likes you!”
A large tarantula was bearing its fangs at Vil from behind the glass. “AH! Leon why would you say something like that you creep?!”
“What do you mean creepy?” Leon teased. “He’s adorable. Just look at all his fuzzy legs!”
Vil buried his face in Leon’s shoulder, taking him off guard. “That’s so gross.”
Leon ran his fingers through Vil’s hair reassuringly... Then took a bit of his own hair and ran it along the back of Vil’s neck like a spider.
“LEON-”
---
“Why do you hate me?” Vil asked as they entered the reptile house.
“Oh please. He doesn’t look too scary.” Leon replied, pointing to a tiny, harmless turtle.
“It’s not him I’m worried about...” Vil said, looking at the python in its enclosure.
“Holy sh-” Leon started. He caught himself and just nodded. “Yeah, well... He’s in his enclosure and he’s not getting out.”
Vil smirked. Now it was his turn to pick on Leon. “Don’t you wanna take a closer look then? As long as he’s behind the glass he isn’t that scary, right?”
Leon glared at Vil and slowly stepped towards the python. A loud hiss came from the enclosure, making Leon jump back towards Vil. “You’re not scared of going into the Mystery Shop, but you’re afraid of a snake behind glass?”
“Okay, then you go up to his enclosure.”
Vil shrugged and walked right up to the glass, bending down to get a closer look. “He doesn’t look scary at all, really. He’s got absolutely gorgeous scales.”
“He’s not hissing at you!”
“Clearly he has good taste.”
---
In the night house, they encountered a very excited kinkajou. The little creature began to run laps around his enclosure as they approached. “Oh my god, he’s so cute~” Vil cooed.
“He’s got more energy than Ruggie after he drinks Monster... That’s not something I wanted to be reminded of today.”
“Who cares about that? He’s absolutely precious!”
Leon waltzed over to a more interesting animal. “What about bats? They’re cute, right?”
Vil walked away from the ecstatic little kinkajou, who automatically began to yip for more attention. Leon glared at the little guy, and said while Vil went to look at the bats, “I worked hard to get his attention, you little jerk. Don’t think you’re gonna hog it all.”
The tiny thing squeaked again and hid in the back of his enclosure.
“Leon, are you trying to scare that poor thing?”
“He started it!”
---
Vil laughed as they found a seat in the picnic area. “I can’t believe you tried to pick a fight with a kinkajou.”
“I didn’t like his attitude.”
“Psh. He was perfectly innocent. Unlike you.”
Leon gasped in feigned offense. “How dare you! I ought to- Well-” He uncapped his water bottle and splashed some onto Vil. He thought for a second that he might have made a mistake (Vil does love his clothes), but Vil laughed, uncapped his own water bottle, and poured it on Leon’s head.
The staff members and other visitors were staring, but the two were enjoying themselves too much to notice.
---
“What happened to the two of you?” Jack asked when they showed up together in Savanaclaw, dripping from their water fight.
“We had fun,” Leon shrugged.
Jack raised an eyebrow at the two of them. Just two weeks ago they were at each other’s throats, and now this?
They walked past him, talking more about their date.
At Leon’s dorm, Vil stood up on the tips of his toes and kissed Leon’s cheek. “Thanks, Leon.”
“That’s all? Can’t I get a real kiss?” He joked.
Vil huffed, pulled Leon down, and kissed him. Leon was taken by surprise, but he wrapped his arms around Vil and pulled him in closer, feeling Vil’s slender hands running through his hair.
They pulled away slowly. Vil looked away and pushed a strand of hair out of his face. “I... I don’t know why I did that...”
Leon chuckled. “Because you love me, clearly.”
He pushed Leon playfully and smiled. “You wish...” He sighed. “I need to go. Rook and Epel are probably waiting for me, and I need a shower.”
“Well~” Leon purred, “If you need a shower, we could always conserve water if we took one together~”
“Ha! In your dreams!” Vil scoffed. He turned and made his way back to Pomefiore, smiling wistfully the entire way.
Ruggie and Jack, who had just witnessed this sequence of events, were not only confused but outright shocked.
---
Epel and Rook’s jaws dropped when they saw what a mess their dorm leader was. “Vil? What happened?” Rook asked.
“What do you mean?”
Epel gestured to his clothes. “You’re soaked, and you look like... Well... Like a mess.”
Vil just laughed, causing Epel and Rook to jump back in surprise. “I just... I had a really good time,” he said, then walked off to his dorm for that much-needed shower.
Epel shook his head. “I haven’t seen him smile like that since... since we were kids.”

Leap of Faith
Pairing: GOT7′s Mark x OC [Sooyeon] Genre: college!au, slice of life, slight fluff Word Count: 2,436 Summary: Taking a leap of faith... you don't always know where you'll land after doing so, but you'll always seem to find yourself not living with any regrets once it's done. So, life is always about taking chances. Do it.
Warning: none except hasn’t been proof-read since it was last shared 3 years ago.
oh, my. my writing style  back then. wow. luckily i don’t write like that anymore. not sure what prompted me do so, but yeah. this was part of a GOT7 Secret Santa writing event that i partook for the first time that year and ofc i got stuck with MT. lol but anyways, it was cute and fun i guess so yeah happy reading and kthxbai, Admin Lia~
I was studying for my math exam that was next week on Thursday in the college's cafe when my friend, Naomi, suddenly said something. "Huh?" I looked up from my math notes confused as she rolled her eyes at me. "Sheesh, Sooyeon, I've been talking for like the past five minutes and you weren't even listening to me? Some friend you are." I rolled my own eyes noting the sarcasm in my friend's voice. "Hey, I can go back to studying and ignoring you if you want." "No, no." Naomi rejected as she excitedly spoke again with her eyes shining mischievously looking from me and then behind me. "He's checking you out again, you know?" "Checking me out? What are you talking about?" "Mark Tuan." "Mark who?" "Mark. Tuan. Sooyeon." Naomi let out slowly trying to emphasize each word. "He's like in all of your classes. How do you not know him by now?"
I shrugged indifferently as I returned back to my math notes. "It's college and I only have two classes this fall semester, Naomi. Besides, they're all in the morning. You think my mind's that active for me to register anything?" I looked up at her again as she showed me her bored face. "It's already December, Soo. Classes end next week. And, you should have known him by now since he's friends with Jackson." "Jack-who?" I tilted my head with a confused expression as Naomi let out a frustrated sigh as her hands became claw-like and I let out a small smile noticing it. "Don't get mad, Nay." I told her with a shake of my head while smiling. "It's not my fault that I don't know or pay attention. We're not in high school anymore. Honestly, should I really know this information?" I looked at her seriously as she pouted at me. "Yes, Sooyeon, you should."
"Why?" I asked giving up on studying for my math exam while closing my notebook. "There are like way more important things to think about besides boys." Naomi clicked her tongue disapprovingly at me. "You've never had a boyfriend." "So? Your point is?" "You're like twenty and never had a boyfriend." Naomi let out a bit heatedly before speaking again. "And the dates and guys I try to set you up with fails because you never try to get to know them." "I'm twenty-two, thank you." I corrected her. "Also the dates are guys who ask you to set me up with them just to get in my pants. And the others are random dudes who have too much too drink, Naomi. You think I would ever fall for someone like that?" "Man, I don't know. For as long as I've known you, since we were in diapers mind you, I don't know what kind of guys you like."
"Good. Let's keep it that way." I said blowing her a raspberry while putting my things away as Naomi grabbed my hands to stop me from putting my things away. "Ugh, you're such a grumpy butt, sometimes, I swear." I cast her a knowing smile as she glared at me for a short bit before looking behind me again. "But seriously, Sooyeon. He won't stop looking over here." "Maybe he's checking you out instead and it's not really me." "No, it's you he has his eyes on." "How are you so sure?" "Because his eyes follows you and I've tried asking him out, but he turned me down." Now I looked at her shock. "He turned you down? Miss I-Can-Get-Every-Boy-Without-Really-Trying. Really?" "Psh, whatever, but yeah, he turned me down. It's okay though, I got my eyes on Jackson and he fits more of my type." "I didn't know you had a type." "Well, now I do, but that's not the point." "Then what's the point?" I asked already tired of this whole discussion.
"Just ask Mark out, Sooyeon. If you ask him out, then I won't bother you about this kind of thing ever again." She pleaded with me like she was serious about it as I looked at her suspiciously. "Sooyeon, I promise. I won't bother you ever again. I promise." I continued to look at her. "Sooyeon. Just take a chance. A leap of faith. Gosh, you're in college and at our age right now we should be enjoying life and living it up. Haven't you heard that phrase the kids nowadays are living by? The whole 'YOLO' thing which means 'you only live once'." "I know what it means and don't even start that, Naomi. Don't make me whip the nay nay out of you." "Oh haha, funny, but I'm totally serious. Just ask the poor guy out." "Man, if he likes me, then he can ask me out instead." I stated as I finished packing up my things ready to go. "Why should the guys always be the one to do it? We're in the twenty-first century. Besides, you never take chances. You're just... you."
I stared at her in boredom as I swung on my backpack. "Well, I like being me, thank you very much. And, maybe I'm just old-fashioned. Ever thought about that?" I stood up as she also stood up with me and took a hold of my arm preventing me from leaving. "You're not old-fashioned, Soo. You're just scared." I scoffed. "I'm not scared, Nay." I see her lips quirked up mischievously as her eyes seemed to glow slyly. "Sooyeon, you're scared." "Naomi, I'm not scared." I stated, but she wasn't believing me. I tried again and she still didn't believe me. "Fine. I'll do it." I agreed giving in as my friend let out this weird squeal as she began to jump up and down while I shot her an amused yet confused look. "Are you okay?" "I will be when you finally ask him out." She quickly ran to my side of the table and pushed be towards the table that Mark was sitting with a few of his friends including the guy that Naomi said was her type. "Go, go, go."
Naomi pushed me until I was at the table. She then ran off, but not before telling me good luck and giggling while running away. I rolled my eyes at her immaturity before laying my eyes onto the guys who suddenly just stopped talking and were now looking at who I believed to be Mark. I also looked at Mark who was looking at me, but he seemed more surprised than anything else. I cast him a quick smile to which he returned instantly. Huh, he has a nice smile. I thought and then remember why I was there. "Mark, right?" I asked looking at him to which he nodded his head slowly while his friends cast one another knowing looks. Two of his friends who were sitting next to Mark were nudging him playfully and he cast them all a glare. His attention then returned to me, but he wasn't glaring or looking surprised like before. He had a somewhat cute looking expression instead. "Yes, I'm Mark."
"OK." I said with a smile as I took a deep breath before letting it out silently and slowly. "Do you want to go out with me?" I asked him with a neutral expression. I saw his eyes go wide and his friends letting out collected 'oohs', but before I could give the guy time to respond I answered quickly instead. "No? OK. Sorry. Bye!" I let out with a pleasant tone and a wry expression as I turned away and made a beeline towards Naomi without looking behind me. "OK, Soo, what did he say?" Naomi asked me excitedly once I reached her. "He didn't say anything. I asked him out and I answered right after." "What? What?" She asked confused standing up. "What did you say? Why did you do that? No wonder he's looking so confused." "I said 'no, OK, sorry,' and 'bye' and I came over here after doing that." "Sooyeon! Go back there and get an answer!" Naomi demanded while pointing in Mark's direction.
I looked at my watch and noticed the time. "Oh, sorry, Nay, no can do." I told her with feign sadness. "I gotta pick up James, but I did what you told me and so now you can get off my back!" I smiled at her while sticking out my tongue and backing away before she could get a chance to grab a hold of me. "Oh, no, missy!" She said as she tried to maneuver over to me from the other side of the table and followed me. "You're not going anywhere, Soo!" "Sorry, Nay! A deal is a deal! Later!" I told her with a laugh as I turned away from her and instantly exited out of the cafe. Not stopping to celebrate in victory of finding a loop hole, I made a mad dash down the steps towards the parking lot to avoid Naomi's wrath. "Ahh, good job, Sooyeon." I told myself while laughing as I still remembered the expression on Naomi's face. "She's so gonna kill me, but whatever. I'll live."
I had just reached my car when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I spun around expecting Naomi and was about to apologize when I came face to face with Mark instead. "Nao-Mark?" I let out surprised by his sudden appearance and gave him a confused look as to why he was there. "Hey. Sooyeon." He let out a bit sheepishly while trying to catch his breath while he kind of back up to give me space. Ooh, I like the sound of his voice. I suddenly thought when I heard him speak, but chased that thought away getting back to reality. "Um, hi. Um, do you need something?" He bit his bottom lip and for some stupid reason I was noticing all these small details about him to which I didn't even pay attention to him up until now. "Um, Mark?" I spoke again when he didn't say anything. "Sorry." He apologized as he began to rub the back of his neck. "I, um, well, you, see." He let out incoherently as I tried to give him time to say what he needed to say.
"Yes." He finally got out what he wanted to say, but that made me more confused than ever. "Yes, what?" He looked at me like I was crazy, but I shot him a tight lipped smile while I just shrugged my shoulders and shook my head as I still didn't comprehend what he meant. "Yes. That's my response to your question earlier." He looked at me hopefully as I tried to remember what question I had asked him and then it dawned on me and I then let out an embarrassed laugh. "Oh, haha, that. Ahh, I see. OK." I then placed a hand behind my head totally embarrassed while looking away from him before returning my gaze onto him again. "OK." Was all that I could say at the moment as I didn't really expect him to come after me and say 'yes'. He frowned a bit. "You don't seem happy." "Oh, it's not like that." I slightly panicked. "I'm just embarrassed. I just didn't think. I, yeah, I'll just shut up now." Mark let out a chuckle.
Wow, even his laugh is cute. I thought and mentally face-palmed myself. I composed myself once again and looked up at him. "Um, so why did you come after me besides agreeing to go out with me?" Mark cast me another one of his dazzling smile. Sheesh, what is wrong with me? I asked myself again, but focused my attention when I heard him talk. "Sorry, I didn't catch that." I smiled apologetically at him. "It's okay." He smiled again. "I just said it was something like a leap of faith." "A leap of faith?" "Yeah, something about taking a chance." He smiled at me knowingly, but I didn't catch on and just let it slide. "Alright, um, well, I guess that's good to know. Taking chances. That makes the both of us." I muttered the last part to myself as I started thinking if this was a set up from the beginning and while lost in thought I didn't hear Mark's question.
"Late lunch?" I caught the last part of his question. "Could you repeat that. Sorry, I was lost in thought." He smiled at me understandingly and repeated his question. "How about a late lunch?" "Oh, um, yeah no." I told him, but quickly spoke so that I wasn't rejecting him or being mean about it because his expression shifted slightly. "I have to pick up my nephew from school. It's a half day. Um, reign check?" Mark's expression seemed relieved and he smiled at me. "Then how about dinner and a movie instead?" Mark tried again as I reconsider his offer. I looked at him and saw that he was hoping for a yes. I guess I could put off studying for one night, I told myself. "Sure." He instantly grinned. "Seven thirty?" "Yeah, seven thirty." I agreed as I turned away from him, but he called my name before I could unlock my car door. I turned to look at him. "Yes?" He held out his phone while looking at me a bit shyly. "Could I have your number so that I could call you or text you so I could pick you up?"
"Oh, yeah, yeah. Sorry." I let out a bit embarrassed as I recited my number to him. I watched his delicate hands punched in the numbers and I soon felt my own mobile vibrate. I pulled it out and saw his text and smiled at him while holding up the phone to show him. "Got it. So, seven thirty, right?" He grinned wide while nodding his head. 'Yeah, seven thirty." "Alright. I'll see you later then." "See you later." "Um, bye Mark." "Bye Sooyeon." I clumsily got into my car while throwing my backpack into the passenger seat and looked out my driver's window and saw that Mark was still there and he crouched down a bit to wave at me. I awkwardly waved back at him while casting him another smile. I started the car and carefully backed out and waved at him once more and he watched me go. I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. "Wow. Some leap of faith that was." But I found myself smiling for some reason. "I guess taking a chance wasn't so bad. Thanks, Naomi."

the tribe of Paraven: Book of Magic - part 5
Chapter 5
"It was that way!"
"No, Phoebe, I recall that stump, so we must be close to the car."
Phoebe rolled her eyes and sighed at her boyfriend Douglas' persistence. They went camping for the weekend, she hoped they would be going a campsite but he wanted to 'do it properly'. Now they were in the middle of nowhere, tying to find their car so they could go and buy food.
"Why don't we try to find that old house we saw yesterday", Phoebe said as she sat on a fallen tree and she flicked open her phone.
Douglas checked the compass, "No, as soon as we find that mossy rock, the sooner we'll find the car" Phoebe looked up at him for a bit then looked back at her phone, she clicked on her photos but as she waited for it to load she jumped when she saw something moving in the trees behind her. Phoebe quickly turned but there was nothing there.
"Did you see that?" She asked aloud.
"See what?" Douglas replied absent mindlessly.
"There was something in the trees", Phoebe said, getting up and walking nervously to her boyfriend.
"Probably just a squirrel",
"It's wasn't a squirrel, it was bigger than one and black!'' she explained, "Let's just go, I getting the creeps"
Then they both heard a loud rusting, the couple turned towards a bush where the noise had come from.
"OK maybe there is something there" Douglas said as Phoebe began tugging on his shirt sleeve, she couldn't help but think this was like something out of a horror film. "I'll see what it is" Douglas said, Phoebe instinctively grabbed his arm.
"No let's go to the car and go home" she begged.
"Ok", he said after seeing the fear of his girlfriend's face. He put an arm reassuringly around Phoebe but as they started to go Douglas stopped and said "Oh no our camping stuff"
"We'll come back later, come on" she pulled on his hand but he didn't budge.
"Look, I'll go back and get our things, you stay there," he quickly said and ran off before Phoebe could stop him.
"Doug, Douglas, COME BACK PLEASE!", but he was out of sight Phoebe cried desperately after him but there was no sight or sound of him, nothing. She headed to their camp, she thought he must have headed there.
Phoebe found her bearing remembered where it was but when she was halfway there something familiar caught her eye. She stopped and reached down for a closer look, her face dropped, it was Douglas' compass ''He'd never go anywhere without it'', she said aloud to herself.
Phoebe felt uneasy now and was about to run when she felt something grab her ankle and it pulled her hard down to the ground and she was dragged away. Phoebe's screamed at the top of her lungs. Her phone had fallen to the ground and lit to show a picture of her mum who was calling her, but the poor girl was now too far to answer it.
"And after Jack's movie, that's when the Big Four fandom started, they put your movies together in stories and pictures online...and that leads up to now"
Sally explained to Jack, Rapunzel, Merida and Hiccup, she explained the history of animation companies, their stories and anything else she thought of which related to these. The young girl felt relieved to have shared this information but was a bit nervous as she saw the shock and disbelief painted on their faces.
"So, let me get this straight, we are out of animated movies", Jack asked.
"Yes", Sally replied simply.
"And we're actually cartoon characters that are from the films," Hiccup then said rubbing his face.
"Yes", Sally said again.
"And we are in the world that are in the stories!",
Rapunzel then said "How...how is that possible?"
"Well we're not sure" Sally said as she rubbed her necklace.
"Can't you send us back" Merida said finally said
"We don't know how!" Maria replied, she and Charlie had let their sister talk, Maria felt now was the time to tell them more "All we know is what we've learned is in the book."
Sally handed Hiccup the spell book and quickly turned the pages.
"Is this a magic book? Oh! Did it bring us here" Rapunzel asked, who was looking at the book.
"We think so, there where jewels in each corner but they're gone" Maria said.
"So that means we're stuck here," Jack saw Sally looking down, avoiding their eyes.
"I'm sorry, we want to help but..."the young girl muttered but she stopped when Rapunzel stood up and hugged Sally.
"Hey, it's OK. You didn't do anything wrong," Rapunzel said reassured Sally.
"She's right kiddo," Jack then said gently placing his hand on Sally's shoulder which made her jump a little "We'll figure it out and a way to return home, together."
This made Sally smile, she and felt relieved to hear that Jack was being so positive. It was at that moment Ollie entered the room with the phone clutched in his hand.
"Ollie? Who's is on the phone?" Maria asked.
"Mama." the little boy replied which made his older sibling's eyes widen.
"Oh no," Maria quickly said before taking the phone and held it up to her ear. "Hi mum, how are you." She said as she walked passed everyone and went down stairs.
"Ur..why is she talking into that block" Hiccup commented when he Merida and Rapunzel wondered what Maria was holding.
"It's a cellphone" Sally explained, "you use it if want to send someone a message or to see how they are!"
"Don't you use a carrier pigeon?" Merida questioned.
"Well we don't use one" Sally explained then Charlie added
" Let's just say, no one has used those for decades."
"Oh" Rapunzel murmured and the kids could see they understood what he meant.
They all went downstairs again when they found Maria still talking on the phone.
"Yes we're fine; we're just about to have breakfast. Well it's been a busy morning. Ok talk to you later, bye", Maria hung up the phone and breathed a sigh of relief.
"What did mum say?" Sally asked.
"She was just asking how we are and what we're doing. The usual stuff", Maria explained "We should have breakfast, are we getting dressed …"
They headed into the kitchen, all of them heard a loud grumble that was coming from Toothless, he looked at them sheepishly before hanging his head.
"You're hungry are you bud?" Hiccup said patting his dragon, the Night Fury reply with a purr.
Sally stopped and turned to the Big Four.
"Ur..do you want breakfast?" She asked them.
"Oh, I would love some" Rapunzel said smiling. Jack, Hiccup, Merida hesitated at first but then they nodded.
"Toothless?" Sally heard Hiccup say, the Night Fury had walked down, sniffing the double doors, the double doors that led into Grandad's room.
"Don't let him in there" Sally cried but it was too late. Toothless opened the door and stood in horror at what he saw. They all heard him about to fire at the stuffed animals. Not really thinking, Sally ran in front of the dragon and quickly shut his mouth tight.
"Please don't, if you fire, you'll burn the whole house down and we'll all be in serious trouble", Sally relaxed when she heard Toothless swallowing his fire and purring to her which made the young girl remove her hands. The others had followed her and the Big four took one look at the taxidermy and suddenly understood why Sally didn't want Toothless to go in there.
"It's ok bud", Hiccup whispered to Toothless and help him back out of the room.
"Um...these are kind of off putting" Rapunzel commented while softly stroking Pascel who was scared after seeing some stuffed lizards in glass cases.
"This is fine with me, we have a lots of stuff dears and bears back home", Merida then said and they closed the doors and just to be extra safe, Jack froze the doorknobs.
It was a very strange breakfast for everyone, The Collins children had their cereals but it was hard for them to not stare at the cartoon characters. Sally tried to find something for Toothless, she knew that he loved to eat fish but she could only find fish fingers, so she put some in the oven of the dragon for try. Merida found a bowl of fruit, she took an apple and then another and give it to Hiccup who thanked her. Rapunzel wanted to make scrambled eggs and was enjoying trying out the cooker, Sally had to show her how the cooker and the toaster worked, Pascal watched with interest, when the toast popped up the noise made nearly everyone jump and Toothless growled at it. Jack had sat himself on the counter leaning against his staff. He was asked if he wanted anything he declined explaining as he's a spirit he doesn't need to eat.
"So your Mum and Nan are at it again?" Jack asked Maria.
"They're at a craft show, you know they like making things at home and they meet other people who do similar things, or the sometimes sell their own things, they love going to them, they'll be home tomorrow but I don't know how we will explain you to them!" Maria said as she placed their bowls in the sink.
"Well, I'm sure they won't mind," Rapunzel said as she shared her food with Pascal and Baby Tooth, Oliver also offered his food to them.
"They will probably think we're crazy or ground us for life." Charlie said munching on a banana. As they talk, Toothless was looked at towards the fish fingers. Sally knelt down next to the dragon to check the food.
"I think it's ready," she said before grabbing a cloth, taking the tray out and putting the fish fingers on a plate. "Here you go, it isn't what your use to but I hope you don't mind," Sally said as she put the fish fingers in front of the dragon.
Toothless sniffed the fish fingers, before quickly eating them up,he seemed to enjoy them but then they could see Toothless looking like he was going to be sick. Hiccup went to his best friend's side, calming him by petting and talking to him. Luckily, Toothless wasn't sick but they knew never to give him fish fingers again. Quickly, Merida found a bowl, filling it with water she placed it in front of Toothless.
"Here," Merida said to him softly, Toothless purred at her before drinking the water.
"Is he going to be ok?" Rapunzel asked after the dragon had finished his drink and headed to the living room.
"Yeah, he'll be fine" Hiccup said then turned to Sally "but what was in those fish things?"
"Just fish and breadcrumbs, but it looks like Toothless had a bad reaction to the breadcrumbs" Sally said rubbing her necklace.
"We'll get him some fresh fish when we go to the shops," Maria said as she stood up, " but now, we'd better get dressed."
It was then all of them heard the TV turn on. Curious, they all went to the living and saw Toothless staring at the screen in wonder. When the Night Fury entered the room he had stepped on the remote control and had accidentally turned it on.
"What's that?" Rapunzel asked.
"That's a television, TV for short" Charlie explained picked up the remote. "And use this, " he handed it to Rapunzel who pressed a button and changed the channel. Staring in wonder the golden haired girl began pushing buttons she was amazed by every new image. Merida went up to the screen and touched it.
"It's a glass, it's made out of glass" Merida said in awe. Hiccup looked at how it worked, finding wires and plugs and asked questions about it, Maria and Charlie answered the best they could.
Sally watched everything in wonder, the characters reactions to their new surroundings and with each other, she couldn't help but smile. She thought that lots of people wish to meet their favourite characters but to be able to actually talk to them and possible even become their friends, she felt that she and her siblings were really lucky, she was engrossed in their reactions, she wondered what time they were from, this must have been thinking aloud instead of to herself, because she jumped to find Jack leading against the wall next to her. She felt herself blushed and quickly turned away.
"Ur...well Merida is from the Middle Ages, also I think Hiccup is from around then because he is from the Vikings age and Rapunzel is from the 19th century," Sally explained trying to remember what she knew.
"Well that explains a lot," Jack said and then noticed Sally's butterfly necklace. "That necklace!" even though he said it softly, Sally heard it and her hand instantly found her necklace.
"What, this?" she asked him.
"Sorry it's just I feel like I'v seen it before," Jack explained. He wondered why it was so familiar but before Sally could say anything. A loud sound boomed seemingly out of nowhere, Sally and Jack covered their ears but they still heard Maria shouting "TURN IT OFF!"
What happened was Rapunzel was still clicking channels on the TV until she put a rock channel on and the sound was so loud it was affecting Toothless, he started twitching and roaring. Charlie instantly ran over and turned the TV off.
"What's was that?" Merida asked aloud after a moment.
"It is Rock music!" Charlie said and the added, "And now we know that dragons don't like heavy metal!" they could see Toothless now looked much better, purring happily and began sniffing around until he found something that been knocked off the table.
"What is it bud?" Hiccup asked as he followed where the dragon was looking and saw a book but it was the "How to train your dragon" book. When Hiccup saw his name on the cover, he quickly picked it up, stood up and turned to the kids.
"What's this, I don't remember writing a book?" Hiccup said showing them the book. Maria, Sally and Charlie froze, neither of them knew what to say but Maria decided to be the one to explain.
"Well here, people write books and some get turned into movies, it called adaptation. Your story was written by woman name Cressida Cowell!" Maria explained and saw Hiccup's face change."So, this is where Toothless and I come from?" The Viking asked understanding a bit.
"Ur, not exactly, your movie is loosely based on the book, there are lots of changes but that's something that usually happens with any adaptation," Maria added, she thought of telling the differences between the book and movie but thought it would be too much for him.
"What about me? Do I have a book?" Jack asked curiously. "You're a mythical legend here and there are different versions of books about you too. You are in a book series called "the Guardian of Children," by a man named William Joyce!" Sally said as she rubbed her necklace, trying not to blush as she felt Jack Frost looking at her.
"And me?" Rapunzel asked even though she was nervous, to her the answer."Oh your story is a very old fairytale that be around for decades!" Sally answered, "But what happens to you is slightly different than in the book."
"Oh like what?" Rapunzel asked eagerly.
"Ur.. we aren't quite sure!" Charlie said knowing that he and his sisters wouldn't want to tell Rapunzel what happened in the tale.
"So, do I have a story, I mean maybe an old folktales or something like that" Merida finally said. Maria bit her lip before saying reluctantly
"Actually your story isn't based an existing story, it was made from scratch at Pixar as an all original idea."
Maria saw Merida scrunching up her face "Oh that's grand" the redhead said furiously!
"All the things I did, all the things I and my family been through. Wasn't told until now?"
"Technically it was two years ago" Charlie quieting murmured.
"CHARLIE!" Sally and Maria shouted at him, knowing that wasn't helping. Sally took a moment to think before she stepped towards Merida.
"Merida, the studio only make originals stories, so your story isn't based on anything but that makes you unique," She explained, Sally wondered if what she said had any effect, she was relieved to see Merida's face relaxed and she smiled.
"Ok, I think it's time we got washed and dressed, before we think of what to do next" Maria said and she and her siblings headed upstairs, but not before Sally turned and said to the Big Four.
"Oh please make yourselves comfortable and but please don't touch any of the electronics."
They looked at each other before they nodded. When the kids disappeared upstairs, Jack, Hiccup, Merida and Toothless saw Rapunzel began to climb the stairs "Erm, where are you going?" Jack asked.
"I wanted to look around, I'm just curious about what's here" Rapunzel explained.
"Hang on, I'll come too!" Merida then said and the girls headed upstairs.
Jack and Hiccup noticed Oliver who was still down stairs he was showing Toothless, Pascal and Baby Tooth (who was perched on the dragon's head) his dinosaurs, the two teens laughed when Toothless sniffed at the T-Rex and then knocked it over which make the youngest of the children get cross.
"No don't do that" they looked at the funny sight of a two year old telling off a fire breathing dragon was very funny.
Meanwhile Rapunzel and Merida were interested in the pictures on the walls, they were distracted by the sound of water running coming from the shower. The door to the bathroom was open ajar so the girls could see Charlie had removed from his night shirt when he glanced up, he covered up immediately and yelled.
"Hey I'm changing!"
Rapunzel quickly closed the door and the girls started to giggle. "Oh wee lamb," Merida said smiling. Just then Sally popped her head out down from the bedroom door.
"What's going on?"
"Oh sorry, we were looking around and we saw Charlie in there by accident he got a bit of a shock!" Rapunzel explained.
Sally joined the girls with a giggle, "Oh don't worry, it happens all the time."
"Do you mind if we see where you sleep?" Rapunzel asked.
"Sure me and Maria are waiting for the shower," Sally said then she saw the confusion look on the princesses faces, "It's like rain, a place where we wash?"
Realizing was Sally meant, Merida and Rapunzel entered the room. Maria and Sally were busy picking out her clothes to wear, when Rapunzel saw the clothes on the bed, she picked up each item and examining it.
"Is this what girls usually wear in this world?" Rapunzel asked placing a pink t-shit against her chest.
"Well, we have all sort of different types of clothes for different people," Sally said as Merida picked up a pair of Maria's pants.
"You know my mum would lock me up me if she saw me wear these!" Merida said smiling as held them to her waist.
"They would suit you," Maria commented and they all had a bit of fun with Rapunzel and Merida who played with modern clothes in the mirror. Then Rapunzel spotted something in the mirror.
"Aaah he's is cute" Rapunzel turned and picked up a yellow, soft but scruffy teddy bear from Sally's bed.
"Ur please be careful with him, he's old and much loved" Sally said with a worry.
"That is her Pooh Bear, she had him since she was little," Maria laughed a bit at her little sister who was panicking. "She can't sleep without him!" Maria then saw Sally narrowing her eyes at her and she knew what she was saying without saying a word.
"I never seen a stuffed bear," Merida comment.
"Oh, I forgot teddy bears didn't exist in your timeline," Maria said.
"Well I think he's lovely and he must love you too Sally," Rapunzel said and then gentle handed the bear back to Sally, the young girl smiled at her favourite Princess and hug her bear close to her chest. As Sally finished hugging her bear and placed him back of her bed, she had a lots of questions she wanted asked them so she decided this could be a good time to ask one.
"So what do two thi..."
"OK, bathroom free!" Charlie called from the door he was dress in his jeans and a red shirt with long white sleeves. "I'll get Ollie dressed and did anyone tell you not enter when someone in the bathroom" he said, directing this comment at the Princesses.
"Well you should keep the door closed laddie," Merida replied, his sisters covered their mouth by hide their laughter.
As Charlie leave, Rapunzel turned to Sally and Maria "well you two get yourself wash and dress while we continue exploring" as with that Rapunzel grabbed Merida by the arm and pull her out of the room with Rapunzel's hair trailing after them.
The sisters stood for a moment before Maria asked Sally, "We're you going ask them if they like Jack and Hiccup?"
"Mmm...maybe," Sally admitted after a moment.
Downstairs, Charlie found Oliver playing dinosaurs with Jack and Hiccup and the telling them about his toys. Charlie could see that the teen boy was having a good time. The winter sprite was a national with Ollie, asking him things and pretending one of the triceratops was nibbling Oliver and Hiccup was asking the name of them and if they could breathe fire.
"I heard in the medical ages, when they found dinosaur bones and thought they were remain of dragons" Charlie explained
"Oh that explained a couple of things" Hiccup answered as his dragon rested his head lightly on top of Hiccup's head.
Charlie smile at him before turning to his brother "come on Ollie, let's get clothes and then you can play with Toothless" he said holding out his hand.
Oliver got up and took Charlie's hand and the two climbed the stairs, Jack watched the brothers until disappear. It was then he heard noises at the front door, he turned to see the dragon was pressing his paw against the door. Hiccup approached to his friend and softly scratches his head.
"You want to go out, don't you bud" Hiccup asked. After Jack join them with Baby Tooth on the shoulder. The tiny fairy squeaked and pointed at a bunch of key hanging on the wall.
He took them out the hood and looked forward them until he found the right. Hiccup and Toothless watched him put the key into the lock and turn it. Jack opened the door and the two boys, Baby fairy and Toothless walk out onto the porch. The Night Fury immediately ran out onto the path, he stressed and spreading out his wings. The boys looked around from the porch all that they could see were trees, grass, flowers, a rock path and a gravel road.
"Jack? Hiccup? Where are you?" They heard Rapunzel from inside the door.
"We're out here" Hiccup called to them and soon the girls apparently. Merida instantly joined the boys and gazed from the stairs but Rapunzel hesitated.
She'd never been outside before, she'd always wanted to venture of her tower, even for just one day but her mother wouldn't heard of it. She would tell Rapunzel countless times that the outside world was dangerous and filled with heartless people. The gold haired girl would never disobey her, but after meeting her new friends and knowing she was in a different world. Her fears began to lessen, Pascal gave her a smile and Rapunzel step out of the door way.
"Well what do you think Punz?" Jack asked as she stood next to him.
"It's so beautiful, is this what all worlds are like?" Rapunzel gazing out in awe.
"Well not every single one" Merida said before something Made her laugh. Toothless was rolling about the grass obviously enjoying it "He's nothing but a giant cat"
Hiccup had to smile and then ran down the stairs to join his best friend. He began playing and scratching Toothless while the dragon licked his friend and rubbed his face lovingly.
Merida came down and watched the two of them playing, she'd never seen friends that were so close, it was actually sweet. But then she noticed something about Hiccup. Merida saw that Hiccup only had a one leg, the other leg had a prosthetic leg made out of wood and metal. Merida was surprised but not shocked.
The Viking had turned his head cause his dragon was trying his best to tickle him, he saw Merida looking at him, stunned. He followed her gaze to his fake leg.
Before Hiccup could say a word, Merida quickly said "No,no,no I'm not shocked, I've just never met anyone else that had one leg"
Hiccup felt relieved after what Merida said. It was a proud thing back home if you lost a limb. But he didn't know what people outside of Berk would think, so seeing Merida was ok with it, made him felt better.
Then he said, "Wait who else do you know who lost a leg?"
"Aya, my Dad. He lost his when he fought Mor'Du the demon bear," Merida told him.
"A bear?" Hiccup said before added. ' I lost mine during a battle with a giant dragon we called the Red Death."
"Oh how big was it?" Merida asked becoming more interested now.
"It was as big as a cliff side" Hiccup replied, he saw the redhead chuckling.
"I thought Mor'Du was big but I'm imagining him being squashed by Red Death," she admitted. Hiccup now had the image in his head and he laughed with her. They felt so comfortable with each other; it was like they'd known each other for years.
Jack had jumped up and landed on the ground, he turned and called to Rapunzel and saw the golden haired girl slowly stepping down and staring at the ground.
"Are you ok Punz?" Jack asked, Rapunzel jumped a bit when she heard him. She was too busy thinking if she should go outside as she wasn't used to just leaving the house when she wished too.
She laughed nervously before saying "Well, I.." She hesitated but nothing came out.
"Has she never been outside before?" Jack thought to himself. She appeared delightful and innocent; he wondered what her life was like back home. He wanted to ask but then maybe something she wouldn't be uncomfortable talking about so he decided not to push it. "Well there's nothing to fear" he reassured her and held out his hand to her. "May I?"
With a nod from Pascal, she had made her mind up and reached out and took his hand. Rapunzel put one foot on the grass then the other. She nervously laughed as she wriggled her toes in the soil. Rapunzel then looked up at the sky, a wave of excitement and wonder came over her. A smile started to grow on her face, she squealed and started bounding all around the yard, doing cartwheels, spinning and jumping even swinging from the trees using her hair.
Meanwhile Jack, Hiccup, Merida, Baby Tooth and Toothless watched in bewilderment.
"Has she never been outside before?" Merida asked the boy.
"I don't think so," Jack answered placing his staff on his shoulder.
"Do you think she was kidnapped or something?" Hiccup then said.
The winter sprite looked back to Rapunzel rolling in the grass, but her long golden hair cocooned her, and she tried to get out but she was laughing, obviously enjoying herself. Jack was always happy to see others people happy because that was his job, bringing fun and laughter to people lives. So, watching Rapunzel acting so joyful, made him feel happy too and he was starting to like her.
"I don't know," Jack simple said shrugging. After that Rapunzel ran up to them, still smiling from ear to ear.
"This is best day ever!" Rapunzel said, she giggled and then she gasped "we should go and explore this world, who knows what else this world has to discover".
"That's sounds like a grand idea" Merida agreed putting her hands on her hips.
"I would love to, but what about Maria, Sally, Charlie and Ollie? Shouldn't we tell them?" Hiccup suggested, rubbing his neck.
"Hey don't worry, we'll be back before they even known we're gone" Jack said. After they all agreed, they started to get ready. Hiccup climbed on to Toothless's saddle he looked behind him to check that the dragons tail was working.
"Do you mind if I ride with you?" Merida asked Hiccup.
He bit his lip for a moment before saying "No, by all means"
The Scottish girl grinned from ear to ear, trying hard to hold in her excitement. She always wondered what it was like to fly ever since she was little. Now actually getting the chance to ride on the dragon, she wasn't letting this chance go. As quick as a flash Merida instantly climbed up and was sitting behind Hiccup.
"Ur it will probably be hard for Toothless to carry all of us" Hiccup said Jack and Rapunzel.
"No it's ok. I can soon catch up" Jack replied
"Oh and how are you going to do that?" Merida asked him, the only response she got was a smirk from the winter sprite. Jack turned to Rapunzel and held out his staff.
"You've better hold on to this" Jack said with a glint in his eye.
Rapunzel instantly knew what Jack meant; she knew both Hiccup and Merida didn't know that he could fly. Weren't they in for a shock? Rapunzel grabbed the staff and Jack called to the heavens
"Hey wind, take us up."
Suddenly Rapunzel felt the wind blowing towards her. Her hair was going anywhere and she held on to Pascal.
Jack quickly put an arm around Rapunzel and they were launched into the air.
Merida, Hiccup and even Toothless were astounded as they watched them going higher with Baby Tooth right behind them.
"Holy bear cubs, do you see that?" Merida cried in disbelief.
"Yeah, but how?" Hiccup answered. Toothless grumbled allowed for he never seen a human fly on they own before.
Rapunzel felt as if they had stopped, she opened her eyes and could see all the things she always heard of the magnificent mountains, hills, rivers, houses, forests, roads and the shining sea.
"What do you think Punz?" She heard Jack say. She turned to him and smiled brightly to him.
"It's absolutely beautiful, I never thought it would be this big," Rapunzel replied as she smiled at her chameleon who was sharing in her excitement.
Jack smiled at her before seeing Baby Tooth giving him a look. He smirked then looked to see the others who were still on the ground. "Hey, are you guys coming?"
Merida and Hiccup looked at each other and then to Toothless. "Well what are we waiting for, ready bud?" Hiccup finally said. Toothless nodded and before Merida knew it, they were up in the air.
The sudden launch caused Merida to quickly put her arms around Hiccup and hold on but when she looked behind her, she smiled seeing everything getting smaller. Hiccup blushed slightly when he felt Merida's arm around him, he wondered if she was frightened, but hearing Merida laugh, eased his worries.
Soon they reached Jack and Rapunzel, the dragon hovered next to them
"Nice of you to join us" Jack said bowing.
"Ha ha very funny," Hiccup said dryly. "So where should we go first? He then said.
They have a look around before Rapunzel said "oh I can see a town over there" she pointed to a nearby town in the distance.
"Ok, let's go" Jack said before they flew off freely in the air. Soaring they divided as they headed toward the town.
As they set off, the Collins kids were all washed and dressed. Sally was first one to come down now wearing a blue dress with white leggings. She thought that the Big Four were still in the house; she looked all around but couldn't find them anywhere. She began to panic when they were nowhere to be seen.
"Ok I think we should try to figure out this situation." She heard Maria talking; Maria now dressed her green sweatshirt over her blue shirt and Denim trousers.
"Sally, what's wrong?"
"They're gone!" Sally replied.
"Gone! How!" Maria said.
"I don't know. I came down and they're not here" Sally said.
The sisters instantly search around the room until Charlie, carrying Oliver who was wearing a blue and white stripes t-shirt with shorts, came down the stairs.
"Hey what's going on," Charlie asked after seeing his sisters' worried faces.
"The Big Four are missing!" Maria said out of breath.
"How? How could they've can they all disappeared, especially Toothless?" Charlie said. Sally happened to looked at the door and noticed that it was open a crack.
"Oh no!" She said countless times, at she headed to the door and ran outside.
Maria, Charlie and Oliver followed her and saw Sally frantically looking around.
"They must have flown off!" She finally said puffing for her breath.
"How" Charlie asked. It made his sisters roll their eyes,
"One has a pet dragon and the other can control the wind. How do you think they flew?" Maria said loudly
"Oh no, they could be miles away now" Sally said beginning to panic.
"Ok we'll have to find them before someone sees them, let's check town first. Hopefully they're there" Maria told her and they quickly went to get their bikes from their Nan's.
"Maybe someone should stay here, just in case they come back" Charlie suggested but Sally shook her head.
"No, we have to stay together. That's what mum told us to do" she explained.
Charlie sighed; he placed his little brother in his bike seat and joined his sisters.
Maria grabbed the keys and locked the door.
"It will be easy to spot them if they're flying!" she said and they pedalled their bikes down to the opening and onto the road. Not knowing something was watching them, something dark was lurking amongst the bushes.

The radio crackles sometime after midnight. Well, for anybody in the Tharsis timezone, at least.
Such a flimsy, manmade concept is nothing but precisely that when the ship is suspended somewhere near Ganymede. Thrust into the oblivion of outer space, where the stars are always visible against the pitch infinity and the sun remains to burn fiercely in the distance. Existing simultaneously when, back in the years that Earth was the only colonised planet, you could only see them one after the other.
But out here in this vast, tenebrous eternity, there is no day or night when the two elements that defined them come to coincide. Thus, no means for time.
It really screws around with your body clock, that is for sure.
Though based on Tharsis time, and the fact that it is a Saturday down on Mars, it should be near two in the morning. This is generally the appropriate time that the crackling occurs and you, slung within the limbo of not quite asleep though desperately needing to be, heave that same old sigh. The one loaded with past burdens and bad decisions and the name of that sole crew member you would fight blood and bone for, would die for, but would never admit it.
Jeongguk fucking hates Mars, which always has you wondering why he spends his every Friday night in the thick of its casinos. Losing the woolongs you split from the last bounty on blackjack tables, slot machines, and another pack of cigarettes that Namjoon will convince to trade him for a can of beef or something trivial. Disgustingly broke scavengers, the lot of you.
Lazily, you stretch for the receiver on the coffee table, swiping your fingers this way and that until they come into contact with cool metal. Answering with a click of a button, you part your lips to speak. Before you can, words are tumbling through the other end of the line in a voice that both clutches your heart and makes you wish to stomp the feeble vessel underneath your heeled boot.
“Baby, fuck, thank– Thank fuck–” And god, if it were not for the way the words were slurring together like melting ice being swilled in a glass of whiskey, the fact that you can practically smell the liquor on his tongue through the receiver is a clear indicator that Jeongguk is blind drunk.
“Hey baby, sweetheart,” he continues to coo and you are already lifting yourself from the draped position across the couch. You step over a face-down, sprawled out and snoring Taehyung in your progression towards the front of the ship. “Y'there, baby? I m’need a favour, pretty please.”
“What?” There is nonchalance in your tone, cutting and firm. But your actions juxtapose the lack of empathy you wear like an artificial shield around him. You enter the bridge and light up the touch-screen monitor to reroute the ship to Mars. Namjoon is going to be pissed, but you really could not care less.
“C’mere ‘nd give me a kiss,” Jeongguk whines, which directly translates to: I am too intoxicated to drive my ship home, so please come and pick me up before you and Namjoon decide to bail on me and fly to the farthest planet from here. He sounds terribly genuine, so sickly sweet like melted sugar, full of divine promise.
You have to swallow the heart-shaped lump in your throat before you thickly answer.
“We’ll come pick you up in two hours.”
You hang up the radio immediately after the confirmation is spoken—before he can make a snarky comment to your outright neglect. Slamming the receiver on the panel, you run your other hand down your face, groaning.
Taehyung appears by your side as he does in that Taehyung way of his—uninvited and usually scaring the damn wits out of you. You stifle a yelp when he slumps beside you out of thin air, smacking the side of his face beside your hand where it lays upon the control panel desk. You retract it against your chest as if you have been electrocuted.
Taehyung is a loopy, noodly teenage kid that the three of you found on Earth, roaming about with nothing to his name but the clothing on his body and a jacked up laptop. Yes, a jacked up laptop that he used to hack into the ship’s system, reconfiguring the flight sequence to have it land right before his toes. To say that the three of you were screeching like banshees while all of this occurred is a severe understatement. But it is completely understandable when your spaceship suddenly starts hurtling through the atmosphere towards grand expanses of desert plains, and one strange, gangly boy with skill hidden in his goofy grin.
Taehyung’s eyes are drooping with lethargy. A trail of drool is dried to his chin. “Mars?” he mumbles, yawning. “For Jeonggukie?”
“Yup, the dumbass got drunk again,” you hum, listening to the engines groan as they guide the lump of junk that is the Helios through a one-eighty, heading towards the Astral Gate. “Maybe we should just leave him there. What do you think?”
“Can’t, sissy!” Taehyung whines, scrunching up his nose and staring at you accusingly, which has you raising your eyebrows in question. “Not when sissy loves Jeonggukie so much!”
Namjoon turns out to be more pissed at the fact that you woke him up by throwing the receiver at the wall of the ship with a bloodcurdling scream, smashing it to smithereens.
The passage through hyperspace takes half an hour less than anticipated. Yet surprisingly, Jeongguk is already slouched beside his battered, steel grey zipcraft, the Aphelion, when you arrive at the casino. A cigarette dangles unlit between his lips.
Really, you hate Mars just as much as he does with its low density, causing the lighter gravity that keeps easy on complexions. Lifting wrinkles from the skin; softening any marring in the form of scars. You can barely see the one that thinly slices Jeongguk’s cheekbone. The smoother skin is ugly and unsightly.
He looks more beautiful with it. Natural and real. He looks like Jeongguk.
Mars apparently makes him a different person in a lot more ways than one.
“There’s m’girl!” Jeongguk hollers. The cigarette falls to the ground in his haste to get up, and he does not seem to notice as he crushes it in his drunken stride towards you. He smells like a liver abused by alcohol and lungs sticky with tobacco when he envelops you in a crushing hug that is so unbearably warm. So unbelievably home. “Y’made it, baby. Missed you.”
“How haven’t you sobered since you called?” you groan against his throat, moisture gathering on the skin from your hot breath, arms hanging limply by your sides.
Jeongguk pulls back then, rifling around in the pocket of his black bomber jacket. He retrieves a stainless steel flask, which he holds up next to his liquor-slack grin. His breath smells like a casket full of death.
“Poor men come prep–”
You snatch the flask out of his hand before he can finish, weighing just under half full in your hand. Twisting off the cap, you knock back the last of the contents and then ditch it into the finely trimmed bushes. His grin only widens at the way you cringe with realisation as the alcohol burns a fire down your throat, knowing full well how much you hate gin.
“Let’s go, dumbass,” you cough, wiping the back of your hand across your mouth, ignoring the way Jeongguk stares at your lips. “The Helios is parked on the port down the road. We’ll pick up the Aphelion once you’re sober.”
“You’re always s’hot when you’re demanding,” Jeongguk cuddles into your side with a devilish simper, beginning to walk in the direction of the home ship with an arm draped limply around your shoulders. He hums a tune that he knows you once listened to long ago.
“Even if you were broke, my love don’t cost a thing,” he croons, tucking you closer, but you refuse to appease him, eyes set on the destination floating in the bay like a giant beast down the hill’s slope.
Silence is your only solace, secluding your voice to the back of your throat where it itches and burns with the urge to form. Because when Jeongguk wakes up in five hours time, he will have forgotten all that he has said on this ugly Friday night in Tharsis. Just like he does every other time.
Jeongguk, for quite possibly being the biggest out of all four crew members, has the smallest room on the Helios. Back when the ship was a fishing trawler, it must have been a storage room. Now, it is fitted with some overhead drawers and a double bed that has its sides touching all walls but the entrance.
“Help,” he slurs, spine against the mattress, legs dangling off the edge and either side of your own that stand between the bed and the door. He cracks one eye open, juts his lower lip. “Pretty please?”
Begrudgingly, you take him by the wrists and haul him upright. His head slumps forward and presses to your stomach with the slackness of his muscles. You shuck off his jacket first and then lean over his shoulder, reaching for the hem of his shirt and pulling it up, exposing the curved bumps of his spine, the slashes of scars against tanned leather. Jeongguk obediently lifts his arms.
Once you have pulled the cotton over his elbows and wrists, he lays back against the bed again. His arms are tucked behind his head, and his torso stretches in unadulterated, wrecked and ruined display.
You wonder how many bullet holes he will have marring his flesh by the time he eventually loses. How many gunshots it is going to take until he is dead.
From his position, he waggles his eyebrows. “Like what’ya see, baby?”
“Fuck you, Jeongguk,” you spit, tearing your eyes from the gentle caramel tone of his skin, soft and innocent. You turn on your heel to leave.
“Wait, stay!” he suddenly insists, lurching forward and curling his fist into the hem of your sweater, tight enough to keep you in place. You glance at him out the corner of your eye, try to not let the hope become obvious in your gaze. His expression has become twisted, pained, though strangely unreadable.
“Why?”
“Because I want you to.”
“Why, Jeongguk?”
“Because I want you. I want to remember this.”
The ship, for once, is silent. No engines run to power you through the distances of the universe. No Taehyung screeches like a dying animal in front of his laptop. No Namjoon complains to his thirteen bonsai about the rest of you and how there is never any damn peace and quiet.
Instead, it gently bobs on the water in the port and the late night liveliness of Tharsis sounds far, far away. Jeongguk is staring at you like he is repenting for his sins and you are something holy. Yet the both of you know that you, of everyone onboard, is aeons from that.
Suddenly, Jeongguk defeatedly exhales. He runs his free hand through his hair before he uses the other to hook his fingers around your wrist, yanking you on top of him where you collapse in a heap of limbs. Silently, he hoists the both of you up to the head of the bed where only one rumpled pillow lays.
He helps you unclip your bra without taking the sweater off, threading the straps through the sleeves with precious ease. Then, he rolls your jeans down the muscles of your thighs, calves, and you are about to kick them off your ankles when you both notice that your boots are still intact. You slide each shoe off, and Jeongguk uses one to throw at the light switch by the door, effectively drawing the tiny room into a swathe of shadows. It is only when he is tugging off his own black jeans that he cusses under his breath.
“Forgot ‘bout that.”
He is nothing but a hunched over outline at the centre of the darkness. “Forgot what?”
“Gun,” and you notice it then when he chuckles and pulls the handle out of his waistband. He lifts it up so that you can see the weapon—loaded, no doubt—before he drops it onto the pile of clothes at the end of the bed.
“Jesus, Jeongguk.”
Jeongguk laughs louder, and it is gruff and beautiful, ringing around the room; smothering the sound of your trembling heart. He climbs back next to you, an inch of space separating two bodies that long for one another. Though it only lasts for a moment before he, glacially, curls his arms around your waist, slips his cold palms underneath the back of your sweater, and lays them crossed over on your shoulder blades. Holding you closer than he ever has.
There, with his nose touching to the tip of your own, your legs toasty and entwined, you can see his eyes glimmering, the drunken haze fading. They are a shade of onyx, exceptionally more gorgeous than the galaxies the four of you sail as bounty hunters, scavengers, thieves. Human beings with no other place in this vast universe.
But here, with Jeongguk closing in, his breath hot on your mouth and his fingertips dancing patterns across your skin, you cannot help but think that maybe, this really is it. Here, with him, you belong.
“M’not letting myself forget this time,” he whispers, and then he does nothing more than kiss you, lips of heat and home tucked against your own in a promise that you finally, at long last, allow to blossom happiness within your heart.

The Arena
A Jacksepticeye fanfic (mostly)
AU where Jack and Mark aren’t youtubers
“where…am I?…” Jack mumbles, rubbing the side of his head slowly. He sits up on the cold dusty and slightly yellow mattress and looks around. That place didn’t seem familiar at all. It looked like an old dirty room with only weak lamp and no windows. How did he even get there in the first place? The last thing he remembers is being at a Slipknot concert, drinking some beer and then… it’s all fuzzy in his mind. Someone must have roofied him. It’s the only explanation.
The green haired boy starts to get up when suddenly, the door is opened and two buffy guys with black masks covering their whole faces, walk in.
“Get up.” One of them demands.
Jack felt like disobeying but these guys were pretty scary and he doesn’t have a death wish so he decides to comply. Both the guys put one of their hands on Jack’s shoulders, pushing him harshly towards the exit of the room. Maybe they were going to release him? It was unlikely but a person can dream…
There it is. The exit! You could feel it! This was it! The guys give him a final push when their close to the shiny exit and Jack ends up tripping and falling on the floor.
Wait a second.
This isn’t the exit…
This is… a fighting arena.
No… this can’t be…
“Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our annual Kill Or Be Killed battles!” A loud voice coming from nowhere announces and the crowd starts cheering. Jack quickly gets up and runs to the edge of the arena that had a cage around it so the fighters couldn’t flee. He starts shaking them and yelling to the crowd to let him go but no one seems to care.
“As you all know, in these battles we have always two fighters, all of them are new contestants, and the one who defeats their opponent gets to confront last year’s winner!! And the prize? Well, not dying is a pretty good prize already” the voice mocked. Jack froze in fear. This means he would have to kill for his survival. If there’s one thing playing games for so long taught him, is that he is not good at killing nor surviving in situations like these!
“Oh man I am so dead…” he sighs and shakes his head in complete disbelief.
“Our first contestant, a 27 years old irish boy with bright green hair, Jacksepticeye!” the crowd cheers loud for Jack.
“Jacksepticeye? That’s a stupid name… I wonder how they came up with that” he mumbles.
Suddenly, Jack hears the cage behind him opening and a big, large man walks in. he doesn’t look scared like Jack. In fact, he looks ecstatic to be there. He eyes the green haired boy up and down and then smirks.
That can’t be good.
“Our second contestant, a 24 years old Russian boy with great physic, Myshtsy!” the crowd cheers louder. Well, at least they made it clear who their favorite is. “It’s time to place your bets, ladies and gentlemen, and see who is going to win this round!” a large TV appears in the middle of the place, right above the arena, showing people’s bets. 99.8% of people bet on the big Russian guy…
“I won’t blame them, I’d vote for muscle man too if I was them” Jack thinks out loud and sighs.
“Ladies and gentlemen, our time for the bets is up! Time for the battle to begin!” the host announces and a loud DING is heard.
The Russian guy crouches a bit and leans forward, in a ready to attack position. Jack steps back slightly, his brain going 100 miles per hour trying to think of something that might guarantee him his survival but so far, that’s impossible.
“You’re going down, skinny bones” Myshtsy growls with a thick Russian accent. Jack’s breath hitches. Suddenly the man jumps forward but Seán manages to avoid the hit, making the guy run against the cage that trembles with all his strength. The crowd cheers and Jack swears he can hear people chanting “kill him! Kill him!”… something tells him, that chanting is not an encouragement for him…
After almost half an hour of getting his ass royally kicked, he can barely see straight, there’s blood coming out of his nose, mouth and ears, one of his eyes is so black and swollen he can’t even open it anymore and the other one is starting to swell as well. His shirt is completely ripped apart, making a poor job at hiding his torso at this point.
The other guy on the other hand, only has a bit of blood smeared on his bottom lip from the one (and only) punch Jack managed to perform.
Jack is done for. He’s going to die. This is it.
Myshtsy pushes him against the edges of the arena face forward and whispers in his Russian accent “I’m going to end you now. You just watch it.” And suddenly he walks backwards to the other side of the arena. He’s going to crush Jack against the cage bars and kill him. The male can’t even bring himself to panic at this point. There was no way to escape this.
Except.
Yǫu s͠e̶e͘ ͡t̸hat̕ ͢b̢roken ̛m̴eta̶l̴ ͟piece͜? push̵ it̢ ba͢ck͝ẁa͡r҉d͡s ͠s̷o͢ ít͜s ̷poin͟te̡d at͏ y͞óu
Jack frowns and looks down at the broken horizontal metal piece near his hips. His brain suddenly clicks and he starts bending the metal in his direction as fast as he could before the Russian performed his blow on Jack and killed him.
The crowd started cheering louder and the floor beneath Seán’s feet started gently trembling and that’s how he knew the other guy was running towards him to kill him.
He waits a few more seconds.
Closes his eyes.
Takes a deep breath.
And moves out of the way, making the Russian man run into the cage bars.
Except he didn’t.
He ran towards the bent metal piece that stabbed him right in the stomach. His breath hitches. And blood start pouring out of his belly, back and mouth. Suddenly he collapses and the whole crowd goes silent.
“Ladies and gentlemen, in an impressive turn of events, it seems that we have a winner! Jacksepticeye!” the host’s voice cheerfully announces and the crowd goes wild.
Meanwhile Jack is still perplexed at what just happened. Not only did he survive against all odds, but he also had some kind of help. If it wasn’t for that person’s advice he would be dead by now.
Three months have passed and somehow Jack managed to defeat all his opponents. We’re talking about 36 fights so far, three battles each week.  He’s gained quite the fanbase. People were still trying to understand how such a skinny kid could kill people three times bigger than him.
But you don’t need muscles when you got the brains, r̷̕i̡͢g̛h̀͜t?…
All these deaths did a number on Jack’s mental health (and so did the whole hitting and punching thing) but he still had hope he could get out of that hellhole and forget any of this ever happened. He wanted to believe he was still a good person, despite all the kills…
“Ladies and gentlemen! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! The fight of the century! Who will win? Who will die? Today is the day we’ll find out!” the host’s voice booms inside the arena and the usual crowd goes wild. Jack walks in and everyone immediately start chanting his battle name “Jacksepticeye! Jacksepticeye!” it doesn’t faze him anymore. The first time it happened, he thought it was pretty cool, in a twisted way, that people were rooting for him to kill the other guy, and not the opposite.
Today it was just background noise, slightly ìr͟r̶it̀ating̕ but still bearable.
“On the left side, your currently favorite skinny green head, with over thirty amazingly skilled kills over the past three months, Jacksepticeye!” Jack’s mouth twists. He’s grown to like the name but lately it didn’t sound right to him.
The other side of the cage trembles and opens, revealing his opponent. Something wasn’t right about him.
“On the right side, our two year’s consecutive champion, with over one hundred kills, even outside the games, and creepier than ever, Darkiplier!” the crowd’s reaction is a mix of booing and cheering for this guy. Jack chuckles at the opponent’s name. Darkiplier? Now, that sounds even stupider than Jacksepticeye. But he does live up to his name… this guy’s vibes are indeed… d̕͢a̴̢̕rk͡.
He’s wearing all black and he’s staring at Jack with a blank expression. It’s unsettling. Jack slightly steps backwards from the guy.
“Ohoh seems like our finalist is afraid of our last year’s winner!” the host mocks and the crowd laughs and cheers. Jack frowns and closes his fists. Great, now the other guy knows he’s afraid.
“Let the battle begin!” the host announces and the way too familiar DING echoes in the arena.
None of them move at first. Dark is just standing there in a comfortable position, still blankly staring at Jack.
Jack on the other hand, was slightly crouching and leaning forward, as if ready to attack. Upon seeing the green haired boy’s position, Dark smirks and tilts his head to the side.
“Do you really think you can beat me?” the mysterious boy asks, with an extremely deep voice. It made chills run down Jack’s spine… “I’ve been a champion for two years now. About to make three” and with that, he launches himself forward, towards Jack. He tries to swerve the other way but Dark is way too fast. Almost inhumanly fast…
The blow makes jack hit the cage’s bars hard enough to leave a huge dent. It’s almost enough to knock him out.
al͏re͞a͠dy?̧ ͡a͏re ́yo̵ù ̧f͟úçḱi̢ng͢ ̴se̕r̵i͝ous̢? just ͟ǵe͠t t͢he͜ ͏f̡u͘cḱ up an͢d̨ F̴I̴G͏HT͟
Jack’s eyes that were almost closed, immediately open wide at the voice’s command and he quickly pulls himself together, earning a mocking laugh from Darkiplier.
“Aw damn. I thought you were done for, already” he gives Jack a side smirk, making the boy frown and almost growl.
“I’m not done yet, bitch!” Jack shouts and runs towards the creepy figure in front of him, who did no effort to move away from his attack. When jack is about to hit him, Dark quickly moves out of the way and grabs the green haired male by the back of his neck, pushing him against the bars. He yelps in pain.
“Let me go!” he screams and moves his body in an attempt to run away from Dark’s grasp. He suddenly creepily takes a deep breath on Jack’s neck, as if to smell him.
“you’re not like them. You’re different. You’re… like me.” He whispers on the boy’s ear. “and me doesn’t like that” he smirks and starts violently shoving Jack’s body over and over against the bars with extreme strength, giving jack a nose bleed, a bloody mouth and some cuts on the cheek.
“STOP!” He screams desperately and for his surprise, Dark indeed stops for a few seconds before throwing his body on the opposite direction, making him hit violently with his back on the other side of the cage and then fall face flat on the floor.
“You asked for it” Dark walks on Jack’s direction and he quickly starts trying to get up to get away from him but the creepy guy is faster and grabs him by his green hair and pushes him up. Jack screams in agony and grabs Dark’s hands in an attempt to make the other let go of his hair but to no avail.
Dark crouches while still grabbing Seán’s green hair so he could be face to face with him.
“hey handsome” He mocks. Jack growls. “let me fix that”. And suddenly, with the other hand, he starts punching Sean’s face repeatedly with an ungodly strength, beating his face it to a bloody pulp.
After what it felt like hours, he finally stops and releases Jack’s hair, making him fall barely conscious on the floor. His face was almost unrecognizable. There’s blood all over his face. Two black, swollen eyes, bloody and swollen lips, a broken nose and even one of his eyes is turning greenish. His breathing is extremely heavy and ragged.
“You’re still alive huh. You’re tougher than I thought” Dark states, more to himself, his smirk completely gone from his face.
“p-please…” Jack mumbles, almost choking on his own blood “don’t do this…” he begs. He’s never encountered such a strong opponent, his strength was definitely not human…
One of the masked guys who worked in the arena gives Dark an axe, through the bars, so he can finally finish his job.
“It seems that our two years consecutive champion is about to make it three years consecutive, ladies and gentlemen!” the host announces and everyone goes wild. Chants like “finish him! Finish him!” can be heard already, but everything sounds distant to Jack at this point.
So this is it. This is how I die.
Dark crouches on top of Jack’s body.
I lasted longer than I thought.
He caresses Jack’s face in a sickening gentle gesture and then smirks.
There’s worse ways to go…
He lifts his axe and prepares to crack Jack’s skull open.
We̴̶'̶̨r̵e͜ ̢̨́n͞o̕͢t̛̕̕ ͏g̷͜o̶͞i̸̧̕n̸̕g ͘͘an̸̵y̧̡w̛͢h͘e̵̡re.
Suddenly Jack lifts his arm and stops the axe a few millimeters from his face. He smirks. Dark’s playful demeanor falls, and is replaced with one of confusion.
Jack quickly kicks Dark off him, making the creep fall on the floor. The green haired boy stands up, spits blood on the floor and cleans some of it off his face with the back of his forearm. His cuts, broken nose and swollen lips and eyes are gone. The only thing left is his green eye.
“how the fuck…” Dark questions with a frown, still on the floor.
“Yo͝u ̵s̶a͡id̕ ́I̸ was dif́f҉ęŕen͏t.͜ Di͜ff͠e͞rent͠ ͝fro͠m̷ ͘e͜veryo̴n͞e el͝s͡e.͢ T͡ha̧t͟ I͜ ͡w͟a͢s͞ ͏j̴ųs̢t̡ l͠ike ́y̡ou̴.” Jack picks up the axe that Dark dropped and starts walking on his direction.
Realization hits Dark like a train and his face is completely drained of color. For the first time, it’s possible to see a real emotion on the fucker’s face.
And that emotion is f̀͡͠eá͡r.
Good.
“y̡o͞u ͏t̷hơu͠ght tha̛t̀ by k̵il̡ling͟ ̡ḿe,̡ yơu ̕w̵ou͏ld̷n’̷t̵ ͡se͠e̵ t́he w͠òr̡s͡t̸ ͞o̡f͠ J͟a̢ck̢?̡ ̸You t̴hin̴k ͏y̵ou̡ ͞c̶ould͢ just get͞ ri͘d̡ ̴of ̀me̶ that͟ eas͜i̶l͢y͘?” Jack was now standing in front of Dark, smirking as he raises his axe.
“Who are you?…” Dark asks, too surprised to even acknowledge what’s about to happen.
Suddenly Jack’s eyes turn completely black and his smirk falls, leaving him with an extremely unsettling expression.
He swings the axe.
There’s blood everywhere.
Dark’s head flies to the other side of the arena.
Jack laughs, sounding glitchy and warped.
“M̭͖̣͈̳͍ͧ̃͟͡ỳ̶̥̬̳ͮͫ͌ͨ̂̎̚͜ ̡͇̺̊ͦ̇̀̆ͣ͆͜n̶̹̦̱̫̥ͫͣ̇͌ͩ̋ͨ͘ą̝̞͖̼͓̂́͝m͇͕̠̖͕̲̘ͮ͌̍ͧ̒͛̐̇̕e͊̋́̅̑͛̅ͧ̚ ̎ͪ̓͏̯̘̖̗̰̘̹ī͛͆̔̾͐̋̕͏͎̰s̵̷̯̬̲̠͓̜̼ͯ̽͝ͅ ̢̪̠͈̥̟͌̓̐̚͝A̅̓ͩ̿̓͂̊̚ṋ̸̗͍̫̱ͤ̋tͤ͊ͭ̊ͦ́̍̊́i̧̳̹̪͖̦̘̥̓̔͘s̨̯̪̫̠͎͓͖̔ͦ̂ͧ͒̏̍e̵̩̻̣̹̩̫̺̗̦̓ͧ̅̉̄̿̀p͓̣͓͕̗͔̼͈̌͆̐̈ͯͧ̃ͭ͘t̨̤̳̮̪̞͉̥̲̒̄̎̂̚i̷̖̞͚̱̤͛̀̀c̨͖͎̯̝͖̠̖̼̖̐̐͊ͣ͋̔͛̿͞e̵̗̼̯̲̝̻̮̓͒ͭͣͧ̂ͪͅy̠ͭͧͮ̈́͠e̹̙͖̯͕̟ͯ̐ͧ͘”

Little Book of Magic-Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Meanwhile...
"It was that way!"
"No, Phoebe, I recall that stump, so we must be close to the car."
Phoebe rolled her eyes and sighed at her boyfriend Douglas' persistence. They went camping for the weekend, she hoped they would be going to a campsite but he wanted to 'do it properly'. Now they were in the middle of nowhere, tying to find their car so they could go and buy food.
"Why don't we try to find that old house we saw yesterday", Phoebe said as she sat on a fallen tree, she flicked open her phone.
"Probably just a squirrel",
"It's wasn't a squirrel, it was bigger than one and black!'' she explained, "Let's just go, I'm getting the creeps"
"And we are in the world that are in the stories!", Rapunzel then said "How...how is that possible?"
This made Sally smile, she felt relieved to hear that Jack was being so positive.
The usual stuff", Maria explained "We should have breakfast, then we get dressed …"
"So are your Mum and Nan at again?" Jack asked Maria.
"They're at a craft show, you know they like making things at home and they meet other people who do similar things, or they sometimes sell their own things, they love going to them, they'll be home tomorrow but I don't know how we will explain you to them!" Maria said as she placed their bowls in the sink.
"Well, I'm sure they won't mind," Rapunzel said as she shared her food with Pascal and Baby Tooth, Oliver also offered his food to them.
"They will probably think we're crazy or ground us for life." Charlie said munching on a banana. As they talk, Toothless was looking towards the cooker at the fish fingers.
"That's a television, TV for short" Charlie explained as he picked up the remote. "And use this, " he handed it to Rapunzel who pressed a button and changed the channel. Staring in wonder the golden haired girl began pushing buttons she was amazed by every new image. Merida went up to the screen and touched it.
"It's glass, it's made out of glass" Merida said in awe. Hiccup looked at how it worked, finding wires and plugs and asked questions about it, Maria and Charlie answered the best they could.
Sally watched everything in wonder, the characters reactions to their new surroundings and with each other, she couldn't help but smile. She thought that lots of people wish to meet their favourite characters but to be able to actually talk to them and possible even become their friends, she felt that she and her siblings were really lucky.
"I know you know a lot about us"
The young girl jumped a little to find Jack leaning against the wall next to her. She felt herself blushed and quickly turned away.
"so can you tell me what time period the other are?" Jack asked.
"Ur...well Merida is from the Middle Ages, also I think Hiccup is from around then too and Rapunzel is from the 19th century," Sally explained trying to remember what she knew.
"What is it bud?" Hiccup asked as he followed where the dragon was looking and saw a book, it was the "How to train your dragon" book.
"And me?" Rapunzel asked even though she was nervous, to her the answer.
"Oh your story is a very old fairytale that be around for decades!" Sally answered, "But what happens to you is slightly different than in the book."
"Actually your story isn't based on an existing story, it was made from scratch at Pixar as an all original idea."
"Oh please make yourselves comfortable but please don't touch any of the electronics."
Jack and Hiccup noticed Oliver who was still down stairs showing Toothless, Pascal and Baby Tooth (who was perched on the dragon's head) his dinosaurs, the two teens laughed when Toothless sniffed at the T-Rex and then knocked it over which made the youngest of the children get cross.
"No don't do that" they looked at the funny sight of a two year old telling off a fire breathing dragon.
Meanwhile Rapunzel and Merida were interested in the pictures on the walls, they were distracted by the sound of water running coming from the shower. The door to the bathroom was ajar so the girls could see Charlie had removed his night shirt when he glanced up, he covered up immediately and yelled.
"Hey I'm changing!"
Rapunzel quickly closed the door and the girls started to giggle. "Oh wee lamb," Merida said smiling. Just then Sally popped her head out down from the bedroom door.
"What's going on?"
"Sorry, we were looking around and we saw Charlie in there by accident he got a bit of a shock!" Rapunzel explained.
Realizing what Sally meant, Merida and Rapunzel entered the room.
"You know my mum would lock me up if she saw me wear these!" Merida said smiling as she held them to her waist.
"They would suit you," Maria commented and they all had a bit of fun with Rapunzel and Merida who played with the modern clothes in the mirror. Then Rapunzel spotted something in the mirror.
"Aaah he's cute" Rapunzel turned and picked up a yellow, soft but scruffy teddy bear from Sally's bed.
"Ur please be careful with him, he's old and much loved" Sally said with a worry.
"That's her Pooh Bear, she had him since she was little," Maria laughed a bit at her little sister who was panicking. "She can't sleep without him!" Maria then saw Sally narrowing her eyes at her and she knew what she was saying without saying a word.
"I've never seen a toy bear made out of fur," Merida comment.
When Sally was done, she placed him back of her bed, she had lots of questions she wanted to asked them so she decided this could be a good time to ask one.
"So what do two thi..."
"OK, bathroom free!" Charlie called from the door, he was dress in his jeans and a red shirt with long white sleeves. "I'll get Ollie dressed and did anyone tell you not enter when someone in the bathroom" he said, directing this comment at the Princesses.
"Well you should keep the door closed laddie," Merida replied, his sisters covered their mouth to hide their laughter.
As Charlie leaves, Rapunzel turned to Sally and Maria "well you two get yourself wash and dress while we continue exploring" as with that Rapunzel grabbed Merida by the arm and pull her out of the room with Rapunzel's hair trailing after them.
The winter sprite was a natural with Ollie, asking him things and pretending one of the triceratops was nibbling Oliver and Hiccup was asking the name of them and if they could breathe fire.
"I heard in the medical ages, when they found dinosaur bones they thought they were remain of dragons" Charlie explained
"Oh that explained a couple of things" Hiccup answered as his dragon rested his head lightly on top of Hiccup's lap.
Charlie smile at him before turning to his brother "come on Ollie, let's get clothes and then you can play with Toothless" he said holding out his hand.
Oliver got up and took Charlie's hand and the two climbed the stairs, Jack watched the brothers until they disappear. It was then he heard noises at the front door, he turned to see the dragon had walk up and was pressing his paw against the door. Hiccup approached his friend and softly scratches his head.
"You want to go out, don't you bud" Hiccup asked. After Jack join them with Baby Tooth on the shoulder. The tiny fairy squeaked and pointed at a bunch of key hanging on the wall.
He took them off the hook and looked through them until he found the right one. Hiccup and Toothless watched him put the key into the lock and turn it. Jack opened the door and the two boys, Baby Tooth and Toothless walk out onto the porch. The Night Fury immediately ran out onto the path, he stretched and spreading out his wings. The boys looked around from the porch all that they could see were trees, grass, flowers, a rock path and a gravel road.
"Jack? Hiccup? Where are you?" They heard Rapunzel from inside the door.
"We're out here" Hiccup called to them and soon the girls appeared. Merida instantly joined the boys and gazed from the door but Rapunzel hesitated.
She'd never been outside before, she'd always wanted to venture from her tower, even for just one day but her mother wouldn't hear of it.
Then he said, "Wait, who else do you know who lost a leg?"
"I thought Mor'Du was big but I'm imagining him being squashed by the Red Death," she admitted. Hiccup now had the image in his head and he laughed with her. They felt so comfortable with each other; it was like they'd known each other for years.
Jack had jumped down and landed on the ground, he turned and called to Rapunzel and saw the golden haired girl slowly stepping down and staring at the ground.
"Hey, there's nothing to fear" he reassured her and held out his hand to her. "May I?"
With a nod from Pascal, she had made her mind up and reached out and took his hand. Rapunzel put one foot on the grass then the other. She giggled as she wriggled her toes in the soil.
"Is she sick or something?" Merida asked aloud.
"I don't think so" Jack answered placing his staff on his shoulder.
"I would love to, but what about The other?
"Ur it will probably be hard for Toothless to carry all of us" Hiccup said to Jack and Rapunzel.
"No it's ok. I can soon catch up" Jack replied
"Oh and how are you going to do that?" Merida asked him, the only response she got was a smirk from the winter sprite. Jack turned to Rapunzel and held out his staff.
"You better hold on to this" Jack said with a glint in his eye.
Her hair was going everywhere and she held on to Pascal.
Toothless grumbled allowed for he never seen a human fly on their own before.
Rapunzel felt as if they had stopped, she opened her eyes and could see all the things she always heard of, the magnificent mountains, hills, rivers, houses, forests, roads and the shining sea.
"What do you think Punz?" She heard Jack say. She turned to him and smiled brightly at him.
The sudden launch caused Merida to quickly put her arms around Hiccup to hold on but when she looked behind her, she smiled seeing everything getting smaller. Hiccup blushed slightly when he felt Merida's arm around him, he wondered if she was frightened, but the he heard Merida laugh.
Soon they reached Jack and Rapunzel, the dragon hovered next to them
"Nice of you to join us" Jack said bowing.
"Ha ha very funny," Hiccup said dryly. "So where should we go first? He then said.
They had a look around before Rapunzel said "oh I can see a town over there" she pointed to a nearby town in the distance.
"Ok I think we should try to figure out this situation of the Big Four being here." She heard Maria saying; Maria now dressed her green sweatshirt over her blue shirt and Denim trousers.
"How? How could they have all disappeared, especially Toothless?" Charlie said.
It made his sisters roll their eyes,
"One has a pet dragon and a other can control the wind.
