You basked in the scent of Eddie’s bedding, how he was ingrained into each and every fiber. Every motion, every shift of the sheets, you could smell him. He had foolishly left you to your own devices in his bedroom (which was surprising since the last time he did that, you almost dared touch his Sweetheart) so you indulged.
You curled up in the sprawling mess of blankets and sheets then grabbed the small throw pillow you had embroidered for him and buried your face in it. It was a delicate, pretty, little thing that stood out in his room even with its DnD theme, but he loved it. He loved that you made it, that you put so much effort into it just for him, so he slept with it every night. Unfamiliar with the concept of purely decorative pillows, he didn’t realize most people tucked such things off to the side before getting into bed each night. So, it smelled like cigarettes, convenience store aftershave, and his shampoo. The scent filled you with dizzying affection, only pulling it away from your face to then hug it to your chest as he walked back into his room.
“I ran out of, like, nice cups. This okay?” he asked as he blew into one of the mugs and then used the bottom of his shirt to wipe it down. He was planning on cleaning those cartoon-themed cups properly for some absurdly fancy hot chocolate you had brought back from your family vacation. He was even planning on making another case for not wasting it on him, but, of course, his attention strayed easily when you were in his bed.
When his gaze finally fell on you, a lazy smile quirked up one side of his mouth. The handles of the mugs hung off the curl of his fingers which rested against his hips now as he took in the sight of you. He tilted his head to put it at the same angle as yours, his favorite pillow in your arms. You were an unbelievably endearing sight. The love that filled him was fluttery and overwhelming.
“And who said you could hold my favorite pillow?” He teased, sauntering over to the bed.
“I made it,” you scoffed with a smile.
He hums lazily in response, that crooked grin still hanging around as he shoved at the clutter on his bedside table. He picked up a small notebook, brow furrowed as he observed it only to haphazardly toss it towards his dresser to make more room. It was that or your tub of Betty Crocker, and he knew better.
You stared at his forearms, drinking in the movement of the musculature underneath. The warmth of his bedside lamp made it even better to watch the lines and curves of his tattoos beneath its comforting, golden light. How could something so simple be so beautiful? Your focus then trailed to the perfect structure of his hands as the mugs slid down his fingers. The ceramic cups clinked against the surface of the old table.
“I think as the creator, I have some right to hold it too,” you continued to make your case while he crawled into bed with you, giving you that subtle mischievous look he always got when he was toying with you.
His strong arms wrapped around you to secure you closer to him.
“I worked very hard on it, y’know.”
Eddie let out an “Is that right?” kind of sound, the texture of his jeans scratching against the bedding. He pulled you into him with such a desperate need to squish you as close as possible as if he thought you might be leaving soon. Those brown curls tickled your jaw while he nuzzled the side of your neck, audibly breathing you in.
“And it wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to embroider all that Dungeons and—”
He finally pulled back to cut you off, smushing his face against yours in a way that made you giggle. Eddie’s kisses were always lazy and sloppy this late at night, but you loved them that way. His lips were warm albeit a bit rough from all the anxious biting that he abused them with. A pleased hum left him and vibrated deep in his throat, his large hands encasing the sides of your face and his fingers tangling in your hair. His rings would probably tug a strand or two when he pulled them away, but you couldn’t be bothered to care.
The way your body relaxed reassured him, and he slid his arms down to pull you in again so your stomach could be flat against his own. Then, he let out a small chuckle when he had to separate from you to pluck the throw pillow out from between you. Eddie placed it elsewhere with emphasized tenderness while you stared at those ruddy lips that you missed already.
“Pillow was in the way,” he murmured in a low tone, kissing you back as you pulled him in for a few more pecks.
“And here I was thinking you were starting to love it more than me.”
“Aw, now don’t be like that. You know that’s not true,” Eddie drawled, grinning over that unconvincing little pout you gave him.
He sat back on his legs to move the bedding out of his way, then pulled you forward by your thighs which he readily settled in between. There was nothing he wanted more than to be thoroughly pressed against you. It wasn’t even about sex, at least not always. He just loved the feeling of you being so close to him. The softness of your stomach against his taut abdomen. The plushness of your chest pressed against the flat planes of his own. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t love the way your bodies fit together too, but he’d melt into you if he could.
Eddie was the type to lean into you while you were walking together, ending up so close that his wallet chain would keep bumping against you. He always sought out your hand to hold or your shoulders for him to drape his arm across (which of course always ended up with him folding you into him so your face would press against a Hellfire symbol or band name, and he could settle his chin on the top of your head).
“I don’t think I believe you.”
You crossed your arms, failing to keep up with your façade, especially with that smile and those dimples.
“Well then, my dramatic lil lady,” He spoke with that same theatrical cadence that he used during campaigns, his brow furrowed with determination. You groaned over the incoming mawkishness, rolling your gaze up to the ceiling and smiling to the point that the apples of your cheeks ached.
“I suppose I must convince you.”
His hand settled on the side of your neck, thumb brushing against the center of your throat as he dipped down for another kiss.
“You’re so corny,” you laughed against his lips.
“And you… taste like vanilla,” he sighed, laughing with you after.
“Mm, well, that is the work of Ms. Betty Crocker,” you smiled up at him, gently tapping his nose. “Speaking of…”
Eddie groaned, mentally cursing himself for even bringing it up as you squirmed out from underneath him to grab the container from behind the abandoned mugs. He watched you intently while you sucked a scoop of frosting off your finger. When you met his gaze, he gave you a cheeky grin that he failed to conceal by biting his lip and then wiggled his eyebrows at you.
“You’re a child,” you snorted, reaching out to tap some frosting onto the tip of his nose.
“And you’re devastating,” he countered in a voice so sickeningly saccharine with love that you wiped the frosting right back off. He caught your hand and sucked the sugar from the pad of your thumb before you could fully pull back.
“Who knew the local bad boy could be such a softie,” you teased softly, scooping some more frosting to feed it to him. Eddie playfully bit down just enough to make you laugh.
“I believe you mean ‘the local freak.’”
“Mm, tomato, tomahto,” you shrugged, lapping up some more frosting off your finger. His rich umber eyes seemed to glitter in the dull lighting, his pupils dilating. You looked up at him through your lashes when you felt his stare.
“We’re gonna have a problem if you keep doing that,” Eddie’s voice was rough even as he smiled over you.
“What?” you laughed, full of faux innocence. He just smirked. “No, what?”
“You know what.”
“I have no clue what you’re talking about,” you shrug, going to scoop some more frosting out when he snags the tub from you.
“Wh— hey!”
You already missed his warmth when he sank back onto folded legs, dipping his forefinger into the tub.
“You’re gonna get your rings all sticky,”
You blushed when that made him cackle, but you at least got the comfort of his body again as he hunched over you. His smile was tangible against the side of your neck, his hair tickling you again.
“Not the only thing that—”
“Eddie, shu-u-ush,” you laughed, and he flattened himself on top of you again, leaving tacky, sugary kisses on your neck while you pried the vanilla frosting from his hand. He gave up on keeping it from you, happy to have a free hand again to seek out your waist with.
Holding the container with one hand, you arched your other arm over him to scoop just one more—you swore just one more! —fingertip of frosting, but he was pulling back before you could even dip into it.
“Gimme that—”
“So rude taking things from me today,” you tutted, watching with a pout as he fed himself some of your treat.
“Have to have you all to myself,” he mimicked some toxic-alpha-dude-type bravado, but he couldn’t even get through it without chuckling at the end.
Eddie prodded at the dwindling supply of Betty Crocker’s then tossed the container back onto his bedside table. But you reached out to catch his wrist and brought his index finger to your mouth before he could bring it to his own.
He groaned, leaning onto one elbow while he gawked at you. His full lips parted at the sight of you, his thumb brushing against your cheek as you sucked on his finger. Damn.
“You never play fair.”
“And you like that,” you stated proudly once he slid his finger back out of your mouth.
“Course I do,” he grunted, sliding the pad of his thumb over your lower lip. “May have taken a few attempts to graduate, but I’m not that dumb.”
Your following giggle was breathy and fleeting as you sunk into the tension filling the room. You took in the growing heat in his gaze that tracked his thumb while it hooked your bottom lip. He mimicked opening his own mouth as you did so without even being asked, making him smile and drag his tongue over his lip. He slid his pointer finger down your tongue again, letting it trail down until he was holding your chin between his curled finger and thumb. Keeping your chin down and lips parted, he leaned in. The kiss was firmer—more determined—and desperate. He was putting every ounce of his desire into you, and this time you were the one melting. You felt like you were sinking deeper into that old mattress, and you wrapped your arms around his neck to keep him with you.

“I’m sorry.”
It’s not exactly how he planned to start his whole apology speech but it’s as good a start as any. Steve is glad he says it. Eddie’s entire character softens just a bit hearing it, his shoulders relaxing to sit a little lower, like maybe, he was afraid Steve had come by to argue some more.
For a moment, they stare at each other until Eddie seems to realise he’s blocking the entrance. He jolts just a bit and side steps, beckoning Steve to come inside.
Good start. Steve steps forward and the subsequent rustle from behind his back reminds him of what’s in his hands. He pulls them out from their hiding spot and offers them out with only a marginally awkward cough. “Uh, first, these are for you.”
In his hands are blue hydrangeas, 3 of them, and the bag containing a mixtape and a multitude of Eddie’s favourite candies.
Eddie’s reaction isn’t… quite the usual. He doesn’t swoon or snap up the gifts out of Steve’s hands like Tilly and other girlfriends had. He doesn’t smile either, just eyes then silently. Steve feels a roll of worry tangle up his stomach.
After a moment, Eddie takes them. Steve follows him, taking the trailer stairs two at a time to keep watch on what Eddie will do. It’s a surprise then to watch them get placed to the side, flowers and gift bag dumped down on the Munson’s cluttered dining table. Eddie doesn’t even attempt a peek into the bag, which, well, for Eddie says a lot.
Moving his gaze from their discarded state to Eddie, Steve finds himself pinned down by Eddie’s waiting stare, his arms crossed tight over his chest. He’s waiting for Steve to speak. Right, it’s time to face the music.
Steve chances a quick glance down at the smudged bullet points on his palm. It suddenly feels too wooden for what Steve really wants to say, too constructed, too much what he thought Eddie wanted to hear.
And besides, Eddie hadn’t reacted as expected in the first instance, the forgotten gifts put to the side. Steve shoves his hand deep in his pocket and goes instead with exactly what he’s feeling.
“Okay, um. Look, I didn’t mean what I said. I- I know that was, I— my parents came home that night.”
None of it is coming out right, stammers on every word. Steve curses himself under his breath and wills himself to continue. Knows if it was Eddie apologising it would be poetic and sweet, all the right words in all the right order.
“I’m not— It’s not an excuse,” Steve shakes his head, tries to string together one single coherent fucking sentence. “I’m sorry. Sorry that I didn’t pick you up. And- and I’m sorry for what I said, I didn’t mean it. Really, it’s- I don’t think that of you. I’m sorry if I made you think I did.”
Eddie nods, though his clenched jaw gives away he’s not entirely peachy just yet.
“Robin told me about your parents being home. And yeah, it wasn’t cool what you said.” He agrees and Steve’s stomach turns. “But I wasn’t exactly fair either, getting all up in your face about it, so I’m sorry for that.”
Steve blinks, surprised; an apology was the last thing he’d expected to come out of Eddie’s mouth.
“I’m still a bit hurt,” Eddie admits, arms folding across his chest in a defensive motion. Steve hates how he seems to be curling in on himself, so obviously hating to admit aloud that Steve’s words had cut so deep. “But y’know, I know now that you were wound up from your parents being home. So, you’re, like, forgiven I guess.”
...Huh, okay. Usually, forgiveness comes after the grovelling, Steve thinks. Not as easily granted as Eddie is seemingly giving him now.
“Okay, uh,” Steve says warily, not quite sure where to go from here. Eddie isn’t really moving, still standing a bit tense. Waiting for Steve to break the ice.
Steve’s eyes dart to the dining table — the resting hydrangeas and abandoned candy. Steve tries to put two and two together, sure, so sure he’s missing something. It’s never this easy.
Eddie hadn’t acknowledged the flowers, hadn’t wanted the gifts. Steve may be forgiven but he still hasn’t shown Eddie how sorry he is.
Steve steps closer and sinks to his knees.
Eddie’s eyes widen in an instant and he takes half a step back, his hands raising up. It doesn’t feel good to watch Eddie put distance between them. Something curls up in Steve’s stomach.
“What are you doing?” Eddie asks. His voice is a bit scratchy and he clears his throat, not moving closer but not moving further away.
Fine. He wants Steve to spell it out. Steve wishes Eddie would just let him apologise in the way he knows — he was hoping Eddie wouldn’t make him drag out his apologies like his father did. But Eddie did love his theatrics so it’s not all that surprising.
“I’m… still apologising?” It’s not meant to come out as a question but half way through the sentence, Steve clocks Eddie’s body language. It’s giving very different vibes than expected. Steve’s confused.
The confusion only hikes up when anger flares in Eddie’s eyes, his jaw tightening just a bit. “You’re—? This isn’t gonna make what you said hurt any less, Steve. Is that what the…”
Eddie trails off, his own gaze tracking over to the dining table. He seems even more ticked off then, fixing his gaze back on to Steve.
“Are you trying to— Did you think you buying me stuff and sucking my dick is some completely fucked way to fast-track an apology?”
Steve feels his own eyes widen, each word twisting his confusion up so tightly it hurts in his chest. Eddie sounds angry.
“No,” Steve insists weakly, because he knows that’s what Eddie wants to hear. Even if that sort of is what he was expecting. He shakes his head, tries to get a read on Eddie’s body language beyond his annoyance. What does he want? “No, I just…”
Eddie’s anger seems to wane a little, seeing the confusion shudder across Steve’s features. Steve suddenly feels incredibly stupid being on his knees— but he doesn’t move. He doesn’t know what to do, doesn’t know what to say. Maybe Eddie doesn’t want him in this way right now.
“I was,” Steve starts, clearing his throat and willing away his flushed cheeks. “I’m proving it to you.” His voice is a little stronger now, more sure. “I want to prove that I’m sorry.”
Eddie stares at him for a long moment and just when Steve thinks he’ll concede and reach for his belt, he surprises Steve and sinks to his knees too. He sits atop his boots, now face to face with his boyfriend, and reaches out gingerly to place a hand on Steve’s knee.
Steve eyes it for a moment. Is this the come on?
“Steve,” Eddie says gently. It reminds Steve of the tone one might have with an easily spooked animal, all comforting and soothing. “Do you even… want this? To have sex right now?”
It’s a strange question, Steve thinks. He frowns. This blowjob isn’t about him. “I think I’m confused,” He admits, forcing a chuckle to make it a little more casual. Then repeats the sentiment from earlier again. “I want to apologise.”
Eddie nods, harsh enough a curl untucks itself from behind his ear. “Yeah, sweetheart, you already did that. You apologised and I forgave you.”
Eddie doesn’t mention that all these extra things, the gifts and flowers, made him question the genuineness in Steve’s apology at first. Something tells him to dig a little deeper. Steve isn’t smarmy or cocky, he’s not sure that’ll be forgiven, he’s… confused.
But Steve nods. He’s following Eddie’s words so far. Something glitters inside him that he’s already back to sweetheart so soon. He hesitantly lays his own hand atop of Eddie’s, resting them both on his knee. Doesn’t speak. Doesn’t even know what to say.
“So, I guess what I’m asking is… what is this?” Eddie waves his hand over Steve’s kneeled form.
The way he says it is still so concerned, which is so far from the usual eagerness Steve has come to know from him normally in these types of situations. Suddenly, knowing Eddie’s definitely not in the mood makes the whole thing a lot more embarrassing now.
“Christ, I wish I had known you wouldn’t want that now,” Steve forces another laugh, quiet, as he ducks his head down. Eddie doesn’t join in, just waits patiently.
“I was— y’know,” Steve waves a hand, gesturing to nothing. “Proving I was sorry. Making it up to you. Guess sex was the wrong idea there, sorry.”
He grimaces a bit, squeezes Eddie’s hand. Steve wonders how he’ll end up making it up to Eddie, if not this way. It’s always been this way.
Eddie doesn’t say anything, just stares at Steve with a perturbed expression on his face. If Steve had to guess, he’d say he almost— almost looks a bit sad.
“Stevie,” Eddie says, nudging closer. Both their knees are touching now. “You already apologised. I forgave you.”
He’s repeating things Steve already knows, so Steve nods. Then repeats the thing he’s heard a hundred times over, “Yeah, I know and now I need to prove how sorry I am.”
Eddie’s face crumples a bit, the frown line between his brows deepening. He seems to have hit some understanding, shuffling even closer to Steve. Any annoyance from a minute ago has leaked out of his body. He’s all comfort now, every soft part that Steve adores so much.
“No, you don’t.” Eddie says simply, words strong and sure. “I know that you’re sorry. You said so. That’s proof enough for me, sweetheart.”
Oh. That’s all there is to it, apparently.
Steve’s acutely aware that the emotion streaking through his chest is relief — relief that he doesn’t have to jump through hoops to gain anything back. Doesn’t have to open his mouth or spread his legs just to earn back his partners affections for a heat of the moment mistake.
He said he was sorry and Eddie forgave him. That’s it. That’s all it took. Like an ill-weighted scale, all the relief slides down into a strange hot shame. Oh god, he’s just come in and then— and Eddie hadn’t even— and Steve had thought—
“Oh, fuck, I’m sorry, that must’ve—“ Steve reels back, the embarrassment from earlier rearing up inside him close to pure mortification. He pulls his hand from Eddie’s grip, all of it suddenly wrong, so so wrong. “I’m sorry, that was so weird of me to offer—“
“Hey, hey, hey, no.” Eddie’s cutting in before Steve gets very far, firmly planting both hands onto Steve’s shoulders to keep him from receding any further. “Don’t apologise for that. That’s… Steve, will you look at me please?”
Nope, a small voice inside him answer, with a quiver. Looking at the trailer floor is so much easier than what Eddie’s asking.
There’s been many times where Steve has felt a bit dumb but this? This feels like a special kind of stupid. The word throbs in his chest painfully as he wonders how he’d got so turned around. He wants to apologise again.
“Stevie?” Eddie says his name again, a soft coo. One of the hands on Steve’s shoulders shifts, hesitating for a moment, before gingerly cradling his jaw. Steve lets Eddie tilt his face up, reluctantly dragging his gaze up to his boyfriend’s face.
Eddie is all sweetness, eyes soft and smile encouraging. It’s his tenderness that makes Steve exhale, a breath he wasn’t aware he was holding and he can’t help the way he sags just a bit and leans into Eddie’s hold.
Eddie gives a quiet hum. “No more apologies, okay?”
Steve nods, the motion a bit slow. It sort of feels as though it’s a little harder to move against gravity, like the air is thick molasses. He’s tired. Why is he so tired? He wonders if it’s the mountainous relief that’s still trickling out his body.
“We- we’ll need to talk about that later,” Eddie nods along to his words, voice all tender. The way he says it lets Steve know it’s not a bad thing. “But for now I think I’d just rather hold you. Can I do that?”
How backwards. Steve had come here to apologise, to make it up to Eddie, and now he’s the one being comforted. And yet, his nod comes much easier this time. It’s probably a bit too eager but Steve’s just about drowned in his embarrassment tonight so what’s some more?
Eddie’s hands move and grip Steve’s hands in his lap, giving a comforting squeeze— then waits, doesn’t move until Steve gives another squeeze back.
Then Eddie’s rising, standing up and pulling Steve up with him. It’s quiet, Steve hiding the tiny shake in his hands by squeezing Eddie’s hand so tight he won’t notice — til Eddie’s knees crack, terribly loud in the silence, and he whispers a loud, “Ow, fuck.”
Steve can’t help it, he laughs, the sound bursting out of him. Fuck, his boyfriend is an old man sometimes.
Then Eddie laughs too, that glorious sound that Steve could bottle and get drunk on and then they’re both laughing — and Eddie is tugging Steve into his bedroom, both of them collapsing into the creaky bed. The springs whine under their weight but it goes unheard.
Eddie does his best to bundle Steve in his arms, accidentally sticking his elbow into Steve’s side but it doesn’t even matter. Eddie cuddles are a fuckin’ delicacy as far Steve’s concerned— when he’s happy with the way he’s wrapped himself around Steve, full Koala style, he squeeezes.
It forces a pathetic sounding wheeze out from Steve, quickly spiralling into another laugh because who has ever loved him this way? This well? Between the threads of relief that pluck on his heartstrings is white hot love.
Steve already knows what’s coming next, what is always the second step in Eddie cuddles. Instead of hiding his face away into Eddie’s chest, like he’s done a thousand times before, he sticks his face out. Chin jutted out, face exposed, and ready for kisses.
Eddie doesn’t deny him. It’s a wet smush of quick kisses, on his cheeks, his nose, his eyelids — Eddie lets out little ‘mwahs’ as he goes, in a sickly sweet voice that Steve adores.
Faintly, inside his chest Steve’s heart sighs. Because no apology, no forgiveness, has ever been like this, this simple, this easy. Equal comfort — like Eddie was aware Steve had been suffering on the other end of the silent treatment, at regretting his own words.
Steve silently hopes it’ll always be this way, even though another part deeper down knows it’ll be. That arguments with Eddie might involve childish silent treatment, tongues poked out and boots stamped — but that apologies would never be a test. Never more than an honest admittance of regret in the form of words.
In the way Eddie presses a particularly slimy kiss against his cheek, hard enough it makes Steve’s cheek squish, he thinks he might not have to worry much at all.

rainy daze - an eddie munson one shot
eddie munson x fem!reader
Summary: Eddie takes you back to his trailer on a rainy fall day to cuddle, watch movies, and makeout have fun
ao3 link
Cw: inexperienced!reader with strict parents, fluff, kissing, like ooey gooey fluff, teasing, rainy day hangs with bf!Eddie, meeting Wayne for the first time, nudity
Tumblr media
You and Eddie had made plans to hang out after school today. You thought about going to the movies or hanging out at StarCourt, that is until the day finally arrived and by last period it still hadn’t stopped raining.
It was a cool autumn day and the rainfall was welcomed, but all it made you want to do was cuddle up on the couch to a movie and a box of pizza. But as long as you were with Eddie, you didn’t really care what you did.
You and Eddie had recently started dating. The circles you ran in overlapped and after having seen him at enough social functions, you got to talking and started getting closer till one day, it became just the two of you.
You had gone out on several dates and you were sure to become boyfriend and girlfriend soon, but he still hadn’t kissed you, yet. He definitely tried, but you were so nervous because of your lack of experience that anytime he tried to get close enough, you dodged his advances or made some excuse to avoid him.
You were worried he would start to think you weren’t interested in him in that way, which couldn’t be more wrong, but it was too embarrassing to admit the truth. For the time being, he was being respectful enough of your space, but the anticipation of things escalating was eating at you. You tried not to let the thoughts consume you too much. Today would be about spending time with Eddie and not putting any pressure on yourself to do anything you’re not ready for.
You and Eddie had passed notes between classes and agreed that he would meet you up at your locker after school and head over to his trailer to hang out. When your last class of the day let out, you eagerly skipped over to your locker. It was Friday, so you switched out some items you wouldn’t need for the weekend with items you did.
After being in the zone, deciding between books, a pair of arms slinks their way around your waist and a certain someone’s chin finds its place along your shoulder.
“Hey sweetheart,” Eddie’s voice cooes in your ear.
You jump slightly, not having heard him approach. You turn your head slightly and see his beautiful brown eyes lovingly gaze into yours. You press a chaste kiss to his cheek. “Hi Eddie.”
“You ready to go?”
“Yeah, just need to get some things from my locker,” you say as you pack up the remaining items into your backpack.
Eddie squeezes you tighter, making you giggle. He presses a kiss to your temple, with an audible, “mwah”,  before unraveling his arms.
You close the locker door and zip up your backpack. Before you can even sling it over your shoulder, Eddie swipes it from you and slings it over his.
You scoff, “Eddie, I can carry my own backpack.”
“Yeah, I know. Wouldn’t want those precious little arms of yours getting tired though,” Eddie explains as he wiggles his fingers along your arms, making you laugh from the ticklish sensation.
“C’mon,” Eddie leads and the two of you start walking down the hall, walking across the rest of Hawkins High to get to the student parking lot.
“How was your day sweetheart?” Eddie asks as he wraps an arm around your waist. You reciprocate the gesture and lean into his touch.
“It was good. The heater wasn’t working in half of my classes so it was kind of cold. But, in my English class I got that essay I was really stressed about back and I ended up getting a B+ on it!”
“Hey look at you, my smart girl. I told you you’d do great on it.” Eddie cheers as he looks down at you.
“Thanks Eddie,” you blush, “How was your day?”
“It was alright. I was practically army crawling my way through a test in Ms.O’Donnell’s class.”
“Oh, no! That bad?”
“Yeah, it’s whatever though. And then some of the guys from Hellfire club wanted to hang out tonight but I told them I couldn’t. Already made plans with my girl.”
“Your girl,” you smirk at him teasingly.
Suddenly, a large clap of thunder roars outside, slightly rattling the lights hanging overhead.
“That can’t be good,” you say worriedly. There aren’t any windows in the halls, so you have no idea how bad the weather is outside.
“It’s ok darling, you’re safe with me,” Eddie nuzzles his cheek against the top of your head.
You continue walking with Eddie and as you reach the main doors you see a heavy rain pouring outside. You look at Eddie with concern. A flash of lighting splays across the dark clouds. The rain comes down harder and faster, making it hard to see past a few yards.
You consider waiting out the storm. It’s been raining all day, but not like this. Maybe the intense part will pass soon. You and Eddie decide to wait around a bit to test the theory. You lean against the wall, Eddie caging you in with his arms. You talk about little things to pass the time, twirling your finger in his hair or tracing your fingers along his arms.
At a certain point, a few of the Hellfire boys run into you and say hi to Eddie. They tease him for ditching them for you, but Eddie gives it to them right back and you smile at the boyish camaraderie.
After twenty or thirty minutes have passed, the rain barely slows down. It was still coming down hard, but you could at least see further into the horizon. Eddie’s stomach begins to rumble and you look up at him. You reach forward and rub your hand along the fabric covering the taut skin.
“Are you hungry?”
Eddie nods and exhales through his nose, “Yeah, little bit.”
You look out the window. “Should we just chance it and get out of here? I don’t think the rain is gonna slow down anytime soon.”
“Yeah, I think you’re right.”
“Will you be okay to drive in the rain like this?”
“Yeah, I’ll be alright,” Eddie smiles as you brush your fingers through his bangs. “I’m parked all the way at the edge of the lot though. Up for a little adventure?”
“Always,” you wink.
Eddie grabs your hand and leads you to the door, “Ready to make a run for it?”
You nod and the two of you run out the door and across the parking lot. You dodge a few other students waiting under their umbrellas or cars slowly milling about the parking lot. You bolt across the lot, splashing in the newly formed puddles.
You shriek as you feel your Converse submerge completely in one particularly deep puddle. As you keep running, you feel the rain dampen your sweater and jeans. The cold water pelting against your skin. Eddie holds your hand tightly as you two run in the pouring rain.
By the time you make it inside the van, both of your clothes are drenched. Your hair drips with water along the seats.
“Eddie,” You whine as you laugh at the sight of his hair clinging to his pale skin. He runs a finger through his hair and it flops back down. Little droplets of water hang off his nose and eyelashes. You lean over and press a kiss on his cheek, hand cupping it afterward. He smiles down at you.
“We’re soaking wet,” You say as you feel a shiver run through your skin, “And it’s cold.”
Eddie removes your hand and thumb rubbing over his cheek and presses his lips to the back of your hand. Eddie starts the car and maneuvers the buttons on the dash to turn on the heater.
“Don’t worry baby, I’ll get us somewhere warm and dry,” he says as he looks in the rearview mirror.
He expertly pulls out of the parking lot and carefully makes his way to the main road. As they travel further away from the school, the rain dulls to an incessant pitter patter along the car windows.
Black Sabbath plays along the van sound system. The slower songs paired with the gloomy skies outside and the white noise of the raindrops along the glass lull you to a light sleep. When Eddie notices, he looks over at you and smiles in awe.
When you arrive at the trailer, the rain is still pouring, but the skies aren’t as dark or tinged with strikes of lighting.
Eddie nudges you awake and you flutter your eyes open.
“We’re here sweetheart,” he says and you adjust to your new surroundings. You stretch out your arms and unbuckle your seatbelt.
You both rush outside and Eddie opens the door for you. You step through carefully, not wanting to drag in any water or mud.
“Hey Uncle Wayne,” Eddie calls out from behind you. You look up and see an older man with gray hair and a gray mustache sitting on the couch in front of you. “I brought someone over.”
“You two get caught in the rain?” Wayne asks as he lifts himself up from the couch.
You’ve been over to the trailer before but Wayne was usually out at work. Your eyes widen at the realization that you’re going to be meeting Eddie’s uncle for the first time, in a state like this no less.
“Yeah we did. Y/N this is my Uncle Wayne. Uncle Wayne this is Y/N,” Eddie announces as he shuts the door and takes off his shoes.
Wayne stands in front of you, “So this is the famous Y/N I've been hearing so much about.”
Your eyes widen and you look over at Eddie who’s shaking off his jacket.
“It’s nice to meet you Mr. Munson,” you greet with a smile as you reach out to shake his hand.
“Please, Mr. Munson was my father, call me Wayne,” Wayne smiles.
Out of respect, you know you probably will not be calling him Wayne but you nod as if you will.
“I apologize for showing up unannounced. The rain kind of put a damper on our plans.”
“No worries dear, make yourself at home.”
“Thank you sir.” You smile at him.
“I did some grocery shopping earlier so the two of you are more than welcome to anything in the kitchen,” Wayne looks from you to Eddie before making his way back to the couch.
Eddie nods and you thank Wayne again. You look at Eddie pointedly and whisper, “Eddie, say thanks to your uncle.”
“What? It’s fine. I don’t need to–”
“Yes you do. It’s the polite thing to do.”
Eddie exhales, “Thanks Uncle Wayne.”
Wayne chuckles and smiles at the two of you, “No problem son. I head out for work later so make yourselves at home.”
“C’mon,” Eddie grumbles as you remove your shoes.
Eddie leads you over to his room and starts rummaging through his drawers.
He gives you a messy pile of clothes, “Here, you can change into these.”
You look up into his eyes and briefly scan the room. “Um, I’m gonna go to the bathroom”
Eddie slightly cocks his head to the side and frowns, “Okay”
You make your way into the small bathroom. You turn the fluorescent light on and close the door behind you. You lock it and proceed to look at yourself in the murky mirror. Your makeup miraculously hasn’t been ruined, but your hair is wet like you just got out of the shower.
You slowly peel off your soaking wet sweater and wring it out in the sink. You search around for a towel and find an extra one under the sink. You dab at your cold wet skin and shiver from the exposure to the air. Your bra is slightly damp, but dry enough to keep on.
You place the faded black tee shirt with a gray skull and skeletons that says black sabbath underneath on. The worn cotton feels warm and dry on your smooth skin. You bring the collar to your nose and smile as you breathe in the scent.
Just like Eddie.
You peel off your socks and jeans. The chafing of the wet raw denim against your skin leaves it smooth and cold. You pat down your legs with the towel and unfold the other garment he gave you. The black and white checkered bottoms appear to be what you can only assume are boxer shorts.
The thought of wearing them brings a nervous flush to your face. Even though they’re presumably clean, these are the sort of thing that Eddie probably wears as underwear which feels incredibly intimate to wear now, even over your own underwear.
You take a deep breath in and put them on anyway, not having much of a choice in terms of dry clothing. You look at yourself in the mirror once more. If you would’ve known a month ago that you would be standing in Eddie Munson’s bathroom, wearing his clothing, you might have laughed at the thought, but now, here you are, nervously giddy about it all.
You move over and drape your wet clothing flat along the bathtub. You gather the towel and use it to wring out and dry off the rest of your hair. When you’re finally satisfied with your appearance, you walk out of the bathroom and slowly pad your way over to Eddie’s room.
“Eddie,” You softly call out, “I’m done with the bath…room.”
You stop short in the doorway as you see Eddie’s bareback. He’s fixing his hair in the mirror across from the doorway while wearing nothing but flannel pajama pants.
You’re frozen in place as you see the muscles contract with every movement of his arms. Eddie spots you in the reflection and smiles, gaze lingering at the exposed skin of your legs. You cross one arm across your stomach to grab onto the other arm.
He turns around and walks over to you. Your gaze travels to his smooth chest and soft stomach and all the tattoos that adorn his milky skin in between.
“Hey sweetheart, are the clothes okay?” He asks as he brings you in for a hug. Your cheek pressed against the surprisingly warm and dry skin of his chest. God does he feel good.
You nod and hum as you nuzzle your cheek against his chest. “Mhm.”
Eddie chuckles and you can feel it vibrate in his body. You pull away slightly and smile up at him.
“You can keep the shirt, you know.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, you’re my girl, you deserve to have my favorite sabbath shirt.”
“Oh,” you whisper with wide eyes, realizing the implications of his words. “Thanks Eddie.”
“You feeling better sweetheart?”
“Mhm,” You nod as Eddie walks past you toward the door way.
“By the way, I used one of the towels from under the sink,” You say, thinking Eddie was going to the bathroom.
“That’s okay,” he replies and shuts the door to his room.
You gulp. A shiver runs down your spine, but it’s not from the cold. In fact, your skin is ablaze and without looking in the mirror, is presumably red from the way it feels.
“Your uncle let’s you bring girls over? And allows you to be alone with them in your room? With the door closed?” You ask as Eddie opens the doors to his closet and searches through it.
“Uh, yeah, I guess. When you put it like that.”
You don't want to state the obvious, but dear god is it astounding to you that something like this is happening. That something like this is possible for other people because there is no way in hell anything like this could transpire under your parent’s roof.
A loud clap of thunder fills the air and you jump slightly from the noise. Eddie looks over at you and you press your lips together to force a smile.
He walks over to you and places his hands on you shoulders. The sight of his damp hair and uncovered skin paired with his proximity is intoxicating. You feel like you can hardly breathe or might pass out. You try to focus instead on his big puppy dog brown eyes.
“You okay?”
You nod. Eddie’s eyes move to the bed next to you. “C’mon.”
He lets go and walks over to the side of the bed. He climbs onto it and you can see the lines of his muscles flexing as he does so. He sits against the bedframe and the skin of his stomach settles into adorable lines.
Your feet are glued to the ground as you observe Eddie. He seems so comfortable. How could anyone be comfortable in the presence of someone of the opposite sex? How could anyone be so comfortable in such an intimate setting?
“C’mere,” Eddie says as he pats the space next to him.
Eddie wants you to be on the bed… with him?
You slowly make your way over, because you do want to be on the bed with him too, but it’s so nerve wracking. You walk to the other side of the bed and stare at it blankly.
“C’mon,” Eddie coaxes as he peels back the comforter and runs his hand along the sheets.
You gulps and climb onto the bed. You sit down, with your back against the headboard, at a respectable distance from him. You avoid his gaze and close your eyes, taking a deep breath in. You try to calm yourself down and pray that Eddie can’t hear how loud and fast your heart is racing.
“Why are you so far away?” Eddie pouts, outstretching his arms, opening and closing his grabby hands to scoop you up and bring you closer to him. “C’mere.”
You open your eyes and look at him nervously. Your legs drape over his lap and he runs his fingers along your shins.
Eddie just his bottom lip out, “Am I that scary you want to be so far away?”
“No I just—“
“I promise I won’t bite,” Eddie says and leans forward lips inches away from yours, “unless you want me to.”
You gasp and look at his shit eating grin with wide eyes.
Your lashes flutter rapidly and heat spreads through your chest. You shake your head and run your hand over your face. He’s so close you can smell him. That mixture of musk emanating from his bare skin, cigarette smoke from the nearby ashtray, and mint on his breath is altogether intoxicating.
“I just want to be close to you, is that okay?”
You peek at him between your fingers. Eddie gingerly brushes his fingers along your own and slowly peels them away. He holds them in his own between your laps.
“Are you okay?”
You look down at your lap. Your brows furrowed in concentration. How do you tell someone that their presence makes you nervous? How do you reconcile the fact that you want to touch someone so badly but feel some unknown force won’t let you.
“Yeah,” You reply.
“You sure?”
“Yeah,” you say in a high pitch, “Um just nervous I guess.”
“Nervous? Why's that?”
You look up at him and cocks a brow. You flicker your eyes up and down his torso. You wave your hand and look around the room, “I mean look at us.”
Eddie raises a brow, “What about it?”
“I know this might be normal for you but this is not normal for me.”
“I know, but you’re doing so well.” Eddys ducks his head down slightly and peers up at her. She looks into his precious pleading brown eyes.
“Stop looking at me like that,” You wave a hand in front of his face.
“Like what?” He smugly grins.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about! You’re doing it right now!”
“I really don’t Y/N”
You huffs, “You know the look Eddie. The soft dazzling eyes. The pouty expressive lips.”
Eddie smirks and you scowl.
“You know why I do it?” Eddie leans closer
You jerk your head back slightly and look at him in confusion.
“I do it because I know how much you like it.”
You scoff, “What? Who says I like any of it? You must be out of your mind Munson.”
You press your pointer finger to his forehead to push it away, but Eddie grabs your hand by the wrist and turns it so your palm faces you. He brings your hand to your chest right above your heart.
“Oh yeah? Then what else could be making your heart beat like that?”
You’re frozen in Eddie’s touch. How could he possibly know?
“What else could bring such an adorable pink flush to those sweet little cheeks,” he says as he cups your face.
You smile at the touch, flustered by his observation but touched by his care.
You look up at him and he’s looking down at you with adoration.
“What’s going on princess,” he whispers as he tucks a strand of your hair behind your ear.
“Tell me what’s going on in that pretty little head of yours.” He asks as his hand drops down to your waist. He rubs circles with his thumb over the fabric of your new shirt.
You furrow your brows in concentration, figuring out the right thing to say.
“I…I like being here with you. And being like this,” You gesture towards your intertwined ligaments, “It’s just really new for me though. It can be a lot to handle sometimes.”
“That’s okay. Whatever you’re comfortable with, we can do that. Just say the word and I’ll do anything you ask.”
You gaze into his eyes and see a deep sincerity.
“That means if you want me close,” He leans so far forward that your foreheads and noses touch but both your eyes are open so his look like they merge into one and the sight makes you giggle, “Then I can be close.”
He pulls away and leans dramatically backward. In a silly voice he says, “And if you want me far I can be far away.”
You lean over and grab him by the shoulders, pulling him back to you. You smile as you look into his eyes and whisper, “Close… I want you close.”
He shifts his torso to face you, “Yeah? How close?”
He presses his weight onto one hand and uses his upper body strength to climb on top of you. You shift your body down the mattress so you lie down with your head resting on the pillow.
His body hovers above you, arms fully outstretched and locked as if he were about to do a pushup. “This close?”
“Closer,” you giggle.
He leans forward a few inches. “This close?”
“Closer,” you whisper.
And suddenly, like a switch flipped on, you need Eddie. You need every inch of his skin to be touching every inch of your skin. You need the weight of his body on yours. You need your fingers to comb through the waves of that luscious head of hair. You need… Eddie’s lips on yours. And you need it right now.
“Like this?” Eddie asks, this time, close enough that his lips brush yours with every word he speaks.
He’s far enough away that you can still look at him and lock eyes with him.
“Closer,” you whisper before fluttering your eyelids close and letting Eddie close the distance between you. He leans down and presses the weight of his body against yours. He brushes a gentle kiss to your lips. The pressure is light letting you relish in the pillow softness of his lips.
He pulls away and goes back in for another kiss, this time with more pressure. Your hands crawl up to the sides of his head, fingers combing through his hair.
“More,” you whisper against his lips.
“Hm?” he pulls back and looks at you for confirmation.
Your fingers move down to the base of his throat. “I want more. I’m… I’m ready for more Eddie.”
Hunger takes over those big brown eyes you love, till it’s nothing but pupils blown out with lust.
“Ask and you shall receive princess,” Eddie whispers with a cocky grin before leaning down again.
He presses his lips against yours and he begins to move his lips. Instinctively, you move your lips against his. You let your lips explore his till their movement settles in on a perfect rhythm.
You bring your chest up to meet his and return your fingers to their rightful place between tufts of his hair. You pull lightly at the scalp, eliciting a groan from Eddie which vibrates its way into your own mouth. The sensation makes you let out a small gasp.
Eddie chuckles at the sound, admiring the way you’re enjoying yourself. He uses one hand to feel against your skin. He places his hand along your waist, squeezing it as he brings it closer to his own. You moan into the kiss and Eddie smiles.
“You like that?” Eddie asks between kisses.
“Mhm,” is the best response you’re capable of.
Once you’re at a comfortable pace, Eddie kicks things up a notch and starts swiping his tongue along your bottom lip. You gasp as the unexpected sensation, and Eddie uses the moment to gain entrance to your mouth. You imitate his movements and move your lips and tongue to explore his.
“God you taste so good,” You whine along his lips. Eddie smirks and deepens the kiss. Your lips become a game of touch and go, heat emanating from your skin. His touch is needy and fervent and yours is hungry and demanding.
But then Eddie begins to slow down the pace and you’re slightly confused. The confusion continues when Eddie pulls away. You whimper at the loss of contact till you feel it replaced by the touch of his lips along the skin of your cheek, then your jaw, and finally along your neck.
Eddie places sloppy kisses along your neck. His lips go down in an open mouthed kiss along your throat. He presses more kisses in various spots till a certain one elicits a particularly loud gasp from your throat.
You look at Eddie, chest heaving at your breathlessness. He smiles determinedly before returning back to that same place and putting another open-mouthed kiss along it. A moan threatens to bubble up in your throat, but you push it down.
“Wanna hear you,” Eddie mumbles along your skin before he begins nipping at the sensitive spot. He licks a stripe and begins sucking at the spot.
You faintly gasp, picking up on what he’s doing.
“Eddie,” you breathlessly call out. He hums along your skin in acknowledgment.
“Are you giving me a hickey?”
He looks up at you, eyes glossy and in a daze, “Yeah, if that’s okay?”
“It feels good, but what if someone sees it?”
Eddie presses a light kiss to the spot on your neck that hasn’t been touched enough for a bruise to form yet.
“That’s kinda the point baby. Want everyone to know who you belong to.” Eddie leans forward and presses a kiss to your lips.
“No, I mean like, what if my parents see. I can’t exactly hide it when it's all the way up here,” you point to the area on your neck.
“Guess I’ll just have to choose some more prime real estate,” he teases.
He kisses you and you two make out for a little while longer before Eddie asks if he can take off your shirt. When you let him, you feel like something shifts. Like he’s not just seeing a new side of you, but you're seeing a new side of him too and even a new side of yourself.
The feeling of his skin on yours is like nothing you’ve ever felt before. It feels so perfect to be touching him in this way. And while you’ve never gotten a hickey before, you feel somewhat proud and excited at having many to wake up to on your chest tomorrow morning. You’ll just need to make sure to wear a high collared top at home.
You spent the rest of the afternoon and evening making out with Eddie. At a certain point, the rain slows down and you don’t even register that Wayne has gone till you go out to the living room and call to order a pizza.
You and Eddie hang out on the couch and watch a scary movie as the sun sets. You lay down on him, with a blanket draped over your bodies. You kiss him at any and all random moments. You’re thrilled at the fact that you can now kiss Eddie Munson at any moment you desire which now feels like every waking second.
After the pizza arrives and you’ve downed the majority of the box, saving a few slices for Wayne, you go back to his room to mess around even more. Despite being nervous before, you were glad you took the leap of faith and went to that next level with Eddie.

Part 7: On the Edge of a Knife
Beau returned home that night with a large pizza for Carla and Emily. He’d already eaten with you an hour ago, but true to his legendary appetite, he still found room for a slice of pepperoni. They got comfortable around the fire out in front of his trailer.
“What held you up?” Carla asked.
Beau sighed and first wiped a bit of sauce from his face with a napkin. He admitted there was an altercation between you and your ex-boyfriend, Michael Hadley. Beau happened to be there in time to settle things down and help patch you up after you fell through a glass coffee table.
“Oh my God. Is she okay?” Emily asked. Beau noted her concern with a smile.
“She’s fine. Some minor cuts and bruises,” he said. “But I had to encourage the guy to leave town. If he’s got any sense, he’ll get gone.”
Emily looked relieved at that. Then she eyed him with a suspicious smile.
“And you just happened to be in the neighborhood?” she asked slyly, voicing the thought that Carla hadn’t wanted to.
Both women watched him closely, but Carla knew the tell-tale signs of Beau covering his embarrassment, giving his daughter a wry look.
“All right, smart Alec. Why don’t you break out the extra sheets I got in the trailer? We’ll set up the bed and the couch.”
“If you can call that glorified bench a couch,” Emily muttered with a grin.
“Ey!” Beau called after her, though he watched her go in amusement.
After a couple more hours of chatting and catching up, showers taken and plates washed, Emily headed for bed. The adults stayed up for a while, bundled in warm coats as they sat together by the fire.
Beau remembered what Emily told him days ago; that he hadn’t needed to be a perfect man for his wife and daughter. They’d just needed him to be a bit more honest about what he was going through, to let them in. After what happened today with you, your patience and understanding with him…he was beginning to get what she meant.
“I’m really thankful for you helping us,” Carla said. It unearthed him out of his own head.
“Yeah,” he replied with a nod.
Admittedly, he was still a bit distracted. Besides how he left things with you (which still made heat crawl up the back of his neck), he still had Avery and that stolen money to worry about. Otherwise known as the reason Carla and Emily would have to cram themselves in his little trailer.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Carla prodded, laying a gentle hand on his arm.
“I just got a bad feeling about all this,” he confessed. “It’s like in Houston with Randy.”
“No,” she shook her head. “You can’t go there.”
“It’s too late,” he replied. “‘Cause it feels the same. Like something’s…something is comin’, and I’m powerless to stop it.”
“Randy’s death was not your fault,” she reminded him. Just like you had.
Beau looked over at her with a humorless quirk of his lips.
“We both know that’s not true. He was my partner and I let him down. And then…then I wasn’t there for you, or Emily. I don’t blame you for leaving me.”
Carla couldn’t help it, but a part deep inside her had been regretting that choice. Her eyes burned with unshed tears. She managed to blink and keep them at bay, though she let out a shaky breath.
“Well, you’re here for us now,” she said. And yet, she could’ve predicted his next words like clockwork.
“It don’t make up for the way I checked out,” he said.
Carla licked her dry lips and swallowed down the emotion clogging her throat. She didn’t cry often. She could have an ironclad grip on her emotions when she needed to.
It was part of what made her a good lawyer. She knew Beau had sometimes gotten frustrated with that aspect of her personality in the past, because he was the opposite.
The man kept a good lid on things for his job, but at heart, he was driven by his passion, his anger, his love, and right now, his bone-deep guilt and shame.
She knew he’d been drowning in it for a year and hadn’t known how to pull him out. Every time he pushed her away, it had hurt her, hardened her, making her will to try again less and less. So she left him.
It was the choice she made, and she knew she had to live with it. Just like marrying Avery.
Carla laid a hand on Beau’s over his knee. She made sure he looked her in the eyes when she said this.
“I forgive you. For all of that, okay?” she said. After a moment, he nodded. This time, she felt like he actually heard her.
“But I’m telling you, this thing with Avery…this isn’t over by a long shot,” he told her. “I’m not saying that to scare you. You understand that?”
“Yeah,” she nodded, even though those tears from earlier were working their way down her face. She wiped them away hastily.
“I’m not gonna let anything happen to you two,” Beau said, in a firm, reassuring tone.
It worked, and it didn’t. Carla nodded again. “I know.”
He sighed through his nose and squeezed her hand. His gaze shifted away, back to the bonfire dancing in front of them. His eyes stung at both the smoke, and the emotion rising in his chest. He steeled himself.
“Carla, I’ll always love you…”
She smiled slightly, brushing the remaining tears from her cheek.
“Though I sense a but coming,” she said.
When she said your name in question, Beau glanced back over at her and nodded. Carla had been his first real love, besides Daisy Harlow in the eleventh grade.
But you were unexpected. How quickly, how deeply you’d gotten under his skin was too hard to ignore. And at this point, he didn’t want to.
Meanwhile, Carla stared at her ex-husband in bemusement. She slipped her hand from his and folded hers back in her lap.
“What’s she like?” she asked. Half of her was genuinely curious. The other half would rather not hear his answer, but she supposed it was only fair. She was the one who moved on first.
Still, the flicker of Beau’s soft smile stung, just a little.
“She’s special,” he said. “Resilient, like you. And smart to boot. You know she’s a college professor?”
“Yeah, Emily told me,” Carla said.
Beau’s smile dimmed when he noted the resignation in her voice. She gave him a knowing look.
“I have no right to complain,” she said. “And you deserve to be happy too, Beau.”
He considered that with a nod. He wasn’t sure if he believed her, but for your sake…he would try.
“Can you promise me something?” Carla asked.
“Name it,” he said.
“I know Avery is in this thing deep. He lied to me and he created this mess. Even when this is over, I don’t know what’s going to happen between us. I know I’m asking a lot of you, but please, look out for him,” she implored. Beau uttered a wry chuckle and rubbed at his chin.
“He is in this deep. And he’s being stubborn about it,” he said. “I might not be able to help him walk it back, but I will try.”
Carla released another sigh and nodded in response. She supposed that was the best she could hope for.
Tumblr media
A few days later, you walked up and down the grocery store aisles with a basket in one hand and your phone against your ear with the other.
“Okay, I’ve got all manners of junk food and chick-flick movie watching snacks, including Reese’s cups, ice cream, frozen pizzas, and no less than three bottles of wine,” you said. “Am I missing anything?”
“I don’t think so, hun. That sounds very comprehensive,” Denise replied.
She was at work, and you were still getting ready for the fall semester. It was only a little over a month away, which meant you were excited, and also nervous.
You had five classes on your roster. You’d also visited Carroll College yesterday to set up your office with all your books, both textbooks and your favorites in fiction and non-fiction (but mostly fiction). Much Ado About Nothing was front and center in the Shakespeare section of your shelf.
You also wanted to at least try and relax for the rest of your summer. Denise was all too willing to help. You’d always had a good relationship with your aunt, albeit distant, since you’d lived in different states.
Living so close now just made you realize how much you two had in common. It was nice to find a friend in her, not just someone who would try to mother you in your own mother’s absence.
“Yes! Good. Then get ready to brainstorm what movies we’re gonna watch tonight, and in what order,” you said.
“Oh, don’t pretend like you don’t already have a color-coded checklist,” Denise quipped.
You laughed. Yes, she knew you too well. “Okay, maybe I do, but you still get a vote.”
You turned a corner in the aisles and nearly ran right into Carla, who was pushing a cart. You both jolted in surprise and recognition.
“Oh, hi! I’m sorry,” you said, at the same time she said, “Sorry, I…”
You two did the polite, nervous laughter people did when put in awkward situations. You noticed all the food she had in her cart—enough to feed a family of three for the week.
“Yeah, finally getting around to doing a grocery run,” she said. “Beau’s trailer leaves much to be desired in the form of amenities, so…”
You adopted a more amused smile. “Yeah, he’s not much of a cook, is he?”
“Do frozen fish sticks count?” Carla remarked.
“Only if there’s expired tartar sauce, according to Emily,” you joked. The two of you shared a laugh that was a little more genuine. You chatted for a couple minutes more before you parted with amiable handwaving. Then you realized that your aunt was still hanging on the line.
You sighed and put your phone back up to your ear. “Hey, sorry.”
“Was that who I think it was?” Denise asked. She was probably trying to be cryptic, if Emily was in the room with her.
“Indeed, it was. Doing a nice family-sized grocery run,” you whispered back, to make sure you weren’t overheard. You brought your basket of junk to one of the checkout lines.
“When was the last time you heard from him?” Denise asked. She must’ve heard the heaviness in your voice. You both knew exactly who “him” was code for. Beau friggin’ Arlen.
“Not since we said goodbye last week,” you replied. And the memory of that kiss had been torturing you for days. It had also been the fuel of many…late nights with yourself.
Speaking of which, need some more AA batteries, you thought with a warm blush.
“Okay, forget candy. We should get cheesecake,” Denise proposed.
You smiled. “You know what, that’s a damn good idea. Definitely cheesecake.”
You hopped out of line to do just that. You knew it probably wouldn’t be as good as Chicago made, but you went over to the bakery side of the store and hunted for the most good-looking cheesecake you could find.
“Hey, if you want, stop by here later,” your aunt said. “Em is here. We’ll grab lunch, make it a real girls’ day.”
“Sure,” you agreed. You hadn’t seen Emily in a week or so either. “Where are you thinking? I’ve been wanting to try that Indian place down the street from your office.”
“Sounds good to me. Come over after you drop those groceries off at home.”
“Okay, will do. I’ll see you guys soon!” you said.
Tumblr media
Beau knew that he was going to be working straight through lunch. What he, Jenny, and Cassie had discovered in the past 24 hours was deeply unsettling.
Not only was Walter Sunny Barnes’s son, but Paige was alive. She’d been found in the foyer of Sunny’s home, brandishing a knife, convinced the married couple were in it together on her kidnapping. Sunny claimed she’d had no idea her husband had taken the poor girl and kept her in a shack for days.
According to Paige’s testimony, Buck Barnes had tried to kill her. And since she was alive, it meant Walter had lied in confessing to her murder. It was also likely that he hadn’t killed Mary or Luke either.
That wasn’t even the worst of Beau’s headache.
He rubbed his face in frustration after getting off the phone with Carla. Thanks to this whole business of Avery’s stolen cryptocurrency, she was being followed.
Fuckin’ hell, Beau thought. The next time he saw Avery, it had better be with handcuffs, or he was going to start working on his punch list for real. Instead, Beau grabbed his cell and called his daughter.
“Hey, Dad,” she answered on the third ring.
“Hey, honey. You doin’ all right? You good?” he asked. Maybe he was coming on a little strong, but worry was a living thing inside his gut.
“Yeah, totally. Just doing some research…but guess who’s coming to have lunch with us later?” she asked.
Her tone was leading him somewhere, and Beau thought he knew the destination. His lips curved with a half-smile. When he guessed your name, Emily confirmed.
“You’re welcome to join us. If, you know, you wanted to,” she teased.
Beau’s smile twisted with disbelief. Was his daughter trying to set him up? And better yet, it seemed like she liked you well enough to do it. While the thought warmed him, his smile dimmed.
“Wish I could, but uh, I got a lot of work here to do. I’m just…checking up on ya, like dads do,” he said.
As much as he wanted to see you (and he really, really did), he wasn’t lying. He needed to follow up on the man who’d trailed Carla to the drycleaners this morning. And he already had Jenny and Poppernak looking into finding Buck Barnes. He’d fled the scene after Paige and Sunny were picked up at the Barnes residence.
“Well, okay, consider me checked. We can talk later if you want,” Emily said. She sounded a bit disappointed. Beau felt guilty for that, but he’d make it up to her tonight. Maybe he’d bring home some takeout so Carla didn’t have to cook again in his tiny kitchenette.
“All right, honey. If not, I’ll see you tonight,” he said. “Just…don’t go anywhere by yourself, okay? Make sure Denise or Cassie’s with you. Matter of fact, I’ll pick you up from there today.”
“Yeah sure,” she said. Though he didn’t think she really heard the warning in his voice.
“‘Kay. Bye, Dad.”
She hung up, leaving Beau still feeling off-balanced. Until news came in from a fellow officer: while Paige had been brought to the hospital, Sunny Barnes had been brought into the station for questioning about her husband.
Tumblr media
“Sorry I’m so late. I started cleaning my apartment and lost track of time,” you said, walking into the office of Dewell & Hoyt. Denise and Emily waved at you from their respective desks.
“That’s okay. We’ve been busy here,” Denise said. You looked at the large pinboard on the wall filled with news clippings and pieces of evidence. Bleeding Heart Killer, read many of the subject lines.
“Ech. Still working on this?” you asked.
“Unfortunately,” said Denise. She grabbed up her purse and went over to kiss your cheek in greeting. “But we might’ve gotten a huge break on it. I’ll tell you all about it when I get back.”
“Get back? Where’re you going?” you asked.
“To get the food! I already placed the orders,” she said, patting your arm. “I’ll be right back.”
You gave her a narrowed look. “I was going to pay for it—”
“No need!” Denise sing-songed on her way out of the office. It had you smiling, shaking your head. You looked over at Emily and tossed a thumb over your shoulder.
“Careful with her. She can be devious,” you said.
Emily smiled and stood up from her desk. She went over to sit with you on the small couch near the center of the room.
“I’m actually glad you’re here,” she said. “I’ve kinda got a question for you.”
“Kinda?” you echoed with a smile, but you pat her on the knee. “What’s on your mind, honey?”
Emily looked a little unsure. It had you giving her your undivided attention.
“It’s about my dad,” she began. Your smile slowly fell, but now you were really listening.
“Okay,” you nodded.
Emily opened her mouth to reply, but before she could, the lights in the entire office went out.
Natural light still came in from the large windows at the front. It was odd though. The weather outside, while chilly, wasn’t cold enough to create an outage. You hadn’t heard anything fizzle when the lights went out either.
“That’s weird—” Emily said.
The back door burst open with the sound of hinges breaking. Both of you gasped and stood from the couch. You slipped a hand into your purse to find your phone, and then the first contact you could think of.
You were about to press the call button when a tall man with broad shoulders stepped through. He was older, balding, and his clothes and neck were stained with blood.
Buck Barnes.
“Buck?” you gasped. “What…what’re you doing here?”
He didn’t look like the easy going, kind-hearted man you knew at the camp. Now, he looked haggard, injured, and dangerous, like a wild animal.
“Hush up,” Buck held up a silver pistol in his right hand. “And drop that phone, nice and slow.”
Your heart was in your throat, but you couldn’t just think of yourself. You subtly tried to pull Emily behind you as you set your phone down on the ground.
“You tried to kill Paige,” Emily accused of the man. It had you turning to her, your eyes going wide. When you looked over at Buck to gauge his reaction, you saw how his lips pursed.
“Sit down and shut up,” Buck ordered, gesturing with his gun at both of you. He drew closer and forced you and Emily to sit beside each other on the couch. There he grabbed a roll of duct tape from his pocket and began taping your shaking hands together.
“Why’re you doing this?” you asked Buck.
“I need some collateral if I’m gonna get the hell outta dodge,” he replied.
“Fine, but let Emily go. She’s just a kid,” you begged, as tears stung at your eyes.
Buck just continued taping you up. Thankfully not your feet, just your wrists. He moved to Emily next.
“You don’t need her,” you tried again. “Come on, Buck. You really think Beau Arlen’s going to want to work something out with you if you take his daughter?”
“Oh, I’m bettin’ he’ll be more than willing.” Buck grabbed you and placed a strip of tape across your mouth, then on Emily’s. He hooked a large, calloused hand around your arm.
“Now get up.”
Tumblr media
“What?!” Beau asked. His eyes widened in alarm. “Slow down, Denise. What’s going on?”
The more he listened, the more his heart plummeted into his stomach. He had to grip his work desk for balance.
It took him and Jenny under half an hour to meet up with Cassie and Denise back at Dewell & Hoyt, along with a forensics unit of officers. There was evidence of struggle in a turned over table and a broken back door lock.
Denise explained that she left you and Emily for just a few minutes while she went to grab a late lunch order. By the time she returned, the power was out, set off by the breakers, and you and Emily were missing.
Jenny found your purse on the couch, while Beau found your cell phone on the ground. He picked it up with a gloved hand. He’d seen you unlock your phone enough times to remember your passcode.
When he inputted those six numbers and unlocked the screen, he found his own name and phone number highlighted there. You’d been about to call him.
He squeezed your phone tight in his hand. He looked up and saw another officer pick up Emily’s backpack.
“No power means no surveillance footage,” Jenny said. “Okay, let’s think. Why take her and Emily?”
“It’s gotta do with Avery and the money he stole,” Beau said, grinding his teeth. “I needa find him.”
“Any idea where he might be held up?” Jenny asked.
“Carla will know,” he replied.
“Do you want me to go with you?” Jenny was quick to offer. She could see his rage bubbling.
“No,” he said, cutting her off with a swift hand. “Get a response team ready, but I don’t want anybody doing anything without checking with me!”
He was out the door before any of the women could stop him. Denise was in tears, both for you and for Emily. Cassie wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“We’re gonna find them,” she promised.
Tumblr media
You and Emily were in the backseat of an SUV. Buck was singing along to some country song, driving them down a highway to hell knows where.
The tears had begun to dry on your cheeks. It didn’t mean you were no longer petrified, but for Emily, to give her support, you’d been able to keep breathing through it. She was still in panic mode, hyperventilating as tears streamed down her face.
“Y’all better quiet down back there,” Buck warned.
You grabbed Emily’s hands and met her frantic eyes with your calmer ones. You were hoping to reassure her, let her know that while you were scared too, you were with her. She wasn’t alone.
She squeezed your hands back, even though it made you wince. Your right hand was still injured. Again, you breathed through it so you could hold her back. You rested the side of your head against hers to try and help steady her further. If you could, you would’ve held her like a mother bear.
Emily leaned against your side and began to calm down, bit by bit. Meanwhile, Buck continued to talk your ears off—about country music, and how this particular song was the one he and Sunny danced to at their wedding. Though frankly, you couldn’t give a shit about anything that was coming out of his mouth.
All you knew was that it was nighttime, pitch black darkness by the time he pulled into a plaza. It looked like a gas station next to a bar.
Only in Montana, you mused. Though you perked up at attention when Buck parked and actually left the car.
Of course, he took the keys with him and put the child locks on the doors, but you tugged at the duct tape Buck put around your ankles when he’d forced you and Emily into this car. If you could get free, then you could shove your way into the front seat and unlock the doors.
Emily tried to help you. You winced as the tape tugged at your skin. At least I shaved yesterday.
She gasped around her gag when she saw a young man coming their way in the parking lot. You joined her in banging on the window, trying to get his attention.
“Oh my God,” you heard him say, muffled as it was through the window. You pointed at the front of the car, trying to communicate to him to break the window open there.
“Hold on, I’ll get you guys out of there,” he said. He went to the front of the car and tried at the door handles, but before he could get very far in his attempt to free you, Buck came up behind the younger man and grabbed him in a chokehold.
You and Emily screamed at him, but it was no use. You did your best to shield Emily’s eyes when Buck snapped the man’s neck.
Tumblr media
Bad call, bad leadership, bad police work.
Beau felt the weight of his shame like never before—all while he held Carla and rocked her in his arms. She’d just arrived at the police station, after getting the news that her husband had been killed.
When he learned that Emily was taken, Avery tried to help Beau and the police confront the men he’d stolen the $15 million from, but Avery had gone rogue by bringing a gun into the equation.
Beau had just one chance to pull Avery out and send in his unit of officers on standby. Jenny had asked him what he wanted to do, hoping he would make the right choice.
Beau had been selfish. He wanted to see if the men would give up the location on where they were holding you and Emily, so he kept Avery in play. He’d thought the man would be fine with Tonya and Donno backing him up in the room.
After all was said and done, however, Avery lay dead in a pool of his own blood with a bullet in his chest. The criminals also hadn’t taken you or Emily.
By process of elimination, Beau now knew it was Buck. The man had already killed a hiker on his way out of the woods, where he’d been holding Paige.
Now it was a whole new manhunt.
“Beau,” Jenny said. “We have something on Buck.”
It prompted him to drag himself out of the dark spiral of his thoughts. He let Carla go, but kept a supportive hand on her back. She was still distraught, and understandably so—not just for her husband, but for her missing daughter.
Jenny gave Carla a sympathetic look. She beckoned him over though.
“Come see this,” she said.
Beau comforted Carla one moment more, rubbing her back, but she encouraged him to go with Jenny. She led him into another room where Cassie was waiting for them, and Jenny’s laptop was connected to a smart TV.
On the screen was new surveillance footage of a parking lot, outside a bar a few hours out of town. There was a green pickup truck parked next to a black SUV. Beau couldn’t see you or Emily, but he watched Buck drag the dead body of a man behind the truck.
“Buck was casing the lot for a car to steal,” Jenny said. “We’re guessing this unlucky guy found them.”
“It means they’re still alive,” Cassie pointed out. Jenny drew attention to the keys, or whatever it was that Buck dropped and picked up off the floor. It was hard to make out from the footage.
Cassie agreed to ask Cormack Barnes if he knew what the keys were for, considering he already had the keys to the pickup trick in his hand when he picked up the fallen set. Beau knew it was time to question Sunny Barnes again.
He headed down the hall to do just that, with Jenny on his heels. Soon though, he found himself slowing down in the hall, like his feet were made of rubber. That, and his heart was fracturing. Jenny slowed down with him, giving him a questioning look.
“It’s just…it’s the one thing we’re supposed to do. Protect our kids,” he said. “The one thing.”
“Hey,” she said. Her blue eyes were understanding. “You couldn’t have done anything differently.”
And yet again, they both knew that was a lie. Beau held a curled fist against his lips for a moment, as he tried to swallow down the lump of emotion in his throat.
“She’s gotta be so scared, Jenny,” he said. His eyes stung, but he tried to blink the unshed tears from his eyes. It wasn’t working.
“Both of them,” he said. “They’ve gotta be terrified. And every minute we waste chasing our tails just gives that twisted son a bitch a chance to do something to them—”
Jenny grabbed his arm to steady him. “I still think he’s keeping them alive for leverage.”
“Well, I hope you’re right, because there’s nothing stopping him from making an example from one of them,” he said.
But the moment it escaped his lips, he wished he hadn’t uttered the thought out loud. It was too much.
He felt like a failure of a father. That was already destroying him from the inside out. And though he’d vowed to himself otherwise, you got dragged into this too.
You’d already been through the wringer enough. Beau hadn’t even checked in on you in damn near a week since he left your apartment the last time.
Now, you’d been taken by the very same man who murdered your friend Mary. Beau hadn’t had the chance to tell you…
He hadn’t been able to tell you a lot of things.
And maybe, he’d never get the chance.
Tumblr media
The pickup truck Buck stole had a small trailer attached, convenient for stuffing you and Emily in, along with the corpse he’d made of the truck’s owner.
On the long and bumpy ride down the road, you’d been able to search the dead man’s jeans and found a small pocketknife. You pressed a small button to click the blade open. You showed it to Emily, and then tried to cut her bonds.
You only got halfway through when the truck and trailer stopped. Moments later, you smelled gas. Buck was probably stopping for a refill on the pickup truck. You closed the knife and hid it in your hands. That instinct turned out to be a good one, because Buck slid the trailer door open.
You and Emily winced as the bright morning sun hit your bleary eyes. Not only had you not slept all night, but you’d gotten used to the perpetual darkness of the trailer.
“You girls behaving yourselves back here?” Buck asked.
You and Emily stayed quiet, but fearful. He stepped into the trailer to lower your taped gag, and then the girl’s. He uncapped a water bottle to give her some. It was a strangely humane thing to do, you thought.
But then you realized that he just didn’t want you two to pass out of dehydration. He was trying to keep you alive long enough to use you as bargaining chips.
“My dad’s going to find you,” Emily said, staring up at your captor. Buck chuckled at her cheek.
“You want water or not?” he asked.
“And when he does, he’s gonna kill you,” she said. Buck rolled his eyes and gave her a few sips of water. He offered the bottle to you next.
Instead of drinking, you used his distraction and proximity to pop open the pocketknife and jab it at his face. He pulled back fast, but you managed to sink the three-inch little blade into his neck. Buck backhanded you so hard, it made the side of your face crack against the back of the trailer.
Emily screamed and tried to catch you when you accidentally fell on her shoulder. When you recovered after a bit, blinking the black splotches out of your vision, Buck punched at the spot right above your heads and made you both flinch. By then, he’d taken the little knife out of his neck, even though it made a new wound ooze blood down his shirt.
“Forgot to check his pockets,” he gritted out. His anger then bled away, into a dark chuckle. “Gettin’ a little rusty.”
He poured out the rest of the water over your boots, but he didn’t make any further threats. At least, not physically. He stepped away and began to exit the trailer.
“Next time it’ll be gasoline and a lighter,” he warned. “Now both of you, shut the fuck up.”
Then he closed the door, casting you and Emily into darkness once again.
Tumblr media
“You okay?” Emily whispered. You could barely make out her face in the dim light, coming from the smallest crack in the trailer door. You rolled your head her way so you could give her a smile.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” you replied. Truthfully, your head was ringing and aching at the same time. Buck had knocked you out for a few seconds there. Plus, you were exhausted, and hungry, and parched.
“At least the gags are off,” she said. You nodded, letting out a sigh. You welcomed her to rest on your shoulder and tucked her wrapped hands under yours.
“We’ve just gotta keep holding out,” you said. “I’m sure your dad is on the way.”
Emily nodded in agreement. She believed every word of what she’d told Buck. She just hoped it was sooner rather than later.
Tumblr media
It was much, much later.
Still, you and Emily were no better off. Actually, you were pretty sure this was worse.
Buck had driven you deep into the woods, then forced you to walk what felt like another half-mile until you reached a dusty old shack. He’d unlocked it and forced you both inside, kneeling in the dirt and dead leaves. Along with the duct tape already around your wrists, he’d tied you both up with ropes around the metal hooks hanging from the short roof.
Even with the gags off, it was hard to breathe in the hot, stuffy woodshed. It felt similar to being buried in a box and left to rot.
You weren’t sure how many hours it had been, but the sun was slowly inching by. If you had to guess, it was around mid-afternoon. You were sweating down your neck and back, now uncomfortable while kneeling in the jeans you were wearing. And sometimes, your vision started to blur in and out.
By now you were beyond hunger. Dying of thirst? Quite possibly.
“How’re you doing?” you asked Emily. She nodded, but she didn’t have much energy to talk either.
So instead, you tried to twist your wrists out of the rope. Very quickly you gave yourself burns, however. Buck had tied your bonds so very tight, not to mention the duct tape underneath.
What a fucking asshole, you thought. He could’ve at least left a bottle of water. Or some protein bars.
“How are they supposed to find us out here?” Emily asked. Her voice was small and coarse with exhaustion. You nudged her knee in comfort.
“The police will get it out of Buck, I’m sure,” you said. “Even if Beau can’t, damn certain Jenny will.”
You gave her a smile. Emily tried to smile back, but she didn’t quite make it there.
“God, I’m so thirsty,” she coughed.
“I know, I’m sorry,” you nodded, letting out a shaky breath. “All we can do is keep trying to get loose.”
You both tried twisting out of the ropes for a while, but it was no use. You were just going to bruise or cut your wrists further through the tape.
You knew that you and Emily had been in the woods for hours at this point, somewhere in the middle of the mountains. You tried not think about how unlikely it would be that someone actually heard you, let alone found you.
You knew you were the adult in this situation. You had to keep it together for the girl beside you, but after a while, a feeling of desperation and despair rose up again in your chest, no matter how hard you fought it all.
Tears welled up in your eyes, though you tried to breathe through it. Emily nudged your arm this time, giving you a comforting look.
“It’s gonna be okay,” she whispered. “I know Dad’s coming for us.”
Your lip wobbled, but you nodded and sucked in a breath. If she could be strong, then you could too…
And that was when you started to hear voices. You knew they weren’t just in your head, because Emily perked up too. You both called out the best you could to whoever was out there.
You squinted watery eyes when the door to the shed finally slid open.
Tumblr media
Beau tested the limitations of Jenny’s SUV on his way out from the woods, and then back into them.
At the very least, Buck was dead.
Sunny had shot him—before they had gotten a location on you and Emily. Beau had been about to have a serious breakdown before Cassie called him.
“They found them,” he’d told Jenny, with red and shining eyes.
In another five miles, they reached the old cabin. Cassie had said there was a woodshed attached on the south side. Beau tore out of the car and sprinted up a hill, through a patch of dense trees, until he found the cabin and the shed.
Cassie and Cormack were talking to someone just out of Beau’s eyeline, but his gaze focused on his daughter. The moment Emily saw him, she brightened and ran to him. He met her in the middle, grabbing her tight and secure in his arms.
His tears burned in his eyes and fell as he held her, comforted her, rubbing her back. She held onto him just as tightly.
He struggled and failed to keep himself together. Relief wasn’t even the word for how he felt; it was beyond words.
And it was almost unreal to be able to hold his daughter and see that she didn’t look hurt, just shaken.
“I’ve gotcha, sweetheart,” he said. “God, I’ve got you.”
Letting out the deepest breath, Beau’s gaze ventured past his daughter and up ahead. There he found you, being supported by Cassie up the hill. Beau’s eyes widened.
You were rubbing your wrists. They looked raw. Your eyes were also red and watery when they met his. Your breath seemed to catch as well.
Your name fell from Beau’s lips, his voice breaking. Emily looked up at her dad and had to smile. She even made room for you when you came up on his other side. Beau still kept his daughter tucked against him, but he reached for you as well and brought you into his embrace.
He felt your body shaking with quiet, wracking sobs. His heart broke for it, but he soothed a hand over your knotted hair and down your back.
“Shh, it’s okay now,” he whispered in your ear. His voice was choked with emotion. “I’ve got you, darlin’."
Never gonna let you go again, he thought.
You nodded, sniffling, but you kept your face buried against his chest.
Eventually, you lifted your head to meet his kind, if tearful eyes. He was a mess, and so were you. He was right though; you knew that it was all right now, as long as he was here.
You looked over at Emily, who was still hanging onto her father. You touched her shoulder.
“You okay?” you asked through tears. She nodded back at you with a smile.
“Good,” Beau said. “Let’s get you two home.”
You realized then that you were clinging to him like…like he was yours.
“Oh,” you uttered, releasing his shirt. “I‘m sorry.”
Beau’s eyes widened at the way you pulled away from him, unconsciously lowering your gaze. He frowned, and he pressed a gentle hand to your cheek, so you’d look at him again.
“Don’t you do that,” he said, his voice still a bit unsteady.
Almost every cell in his body said to pull you back in. To sink his fingers in your hair, and to kiss you.
But he noticed Jenny, Cassie, Cormack, and even his daughter watching with some kind of smile on their faces. You stared up at him, teary eyed and waiting.
Beau cleared his throat.
He hesitated a bit too long, warring with himself all the while. So he just stroked your cheek and guided you, along with his daughter to the car.
You and Emily were going home.

AN: 🫣 Lol please don't hate me for the little tease at the end there. But how did you like how all the action and drama of the kidnapping unfolded?
Don't think this is the finale though. We've still got some drama and fun things to come. (Also, I think it's funny how this next particular chapter is going to post on my birthday lol.)
Next Time:
“I’m the one who needs you to forgive me,” he said, gently squeezing your arm. “I promised myself I would keep you safe, that I wouldn’t drag you into this mess. And I couldn’t keep my end of the deal.”
“Stop that,” you said. You grabbed the front of his shirt. “How many times do I have to say it’s not your fault before you get it in your stubborn head?”
It came out a bit snappish, but the moment your eyes met his, you both seemed to realize where your passions had led you. Just inches away from one another.
“Maybe one more time,” Beau said, in a quieter, but no less heady voice. There was a hint of humor in his eyes. You couldn’t help but smile back.
You released his shirt and instead, took his face in your hands.

shut me up!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: despite his tough and confident rockstar persona, even beomgyu needed reassurance sometimes.
pairing: rockstar!beomgyu x reader
genre: fluff, semi-comfort, established relationship
content/warnings: kissing, (playful) teasing/bantering/yelling, beomgyu says ‘shut up’, beomgyu is in a (rock)band that isn’t txt
wc: 1.2k
a/n: this one’s for u, G🌼
you’d be lying if you said being a rockstar’s girlfriend wasn’t absolutely exhilarating. you’d fall asleep in one city and then wake up in the next. you’d go from private jet, to tour bus, to private jet again. life was insane, but it didn’t matter how crazy and unpredictable life had become, because beomgyu was your constant.
you knew the band’s setlist by heart at this point, but the atmosphere and energy of each night’s crowd was always a new experience. what never changed, though, were the loving gazes you shot your boyfriend as you watched from stage side.
you’d hand him a sweat towel or a bottled water whenever he stepped backstage. with no time to chat, you’d occasionally shoot him a thumbs-up or a “fighting” gesture. in return, beomgyu would alternate between quick pecks and forehead kisses as a sign of thanks.
watching him up on that stage was the best part of each day. when he was performing, he was completely in his element: his expressions were always filled with joy and excitement, and with his electric guitar in hand, he’d move dynamically across the stage without missing a beat. he’d look out into the crowd affectionately, face beaming with gratitude towards the dedicated fans.
he’d never miss a chance to turn to you and shoot a loving glance back. you knew how grateful he was that you could follow him on his first major tour. you were there for the first performance jitters, mid-tour anxieties, and now for the band’s long-awaited performance at lollapalooza.
the band had a couple hours before showtime to film content and do interviews, which left you passing time in their trailer with some staff members. you’d already sped through a book on the plane ride here, opting to mindlessly scroll on your phone as you anticipated your boyfriend’s arrival. eventually, the group returned, giving them time to decompress and prepare for their set.
you were sprawled on the couch at the end of their trailer. when beomgyu walked in, he motioned for you to lift your legs so he could take a seat. plopping himself beside you and letting your legs fall to his lap, he let out a sigh.
“how’d it all go?” you asked, turning to face him while still laying down.
“i don’t really know why we need to do so many interviews when they just ask the same stuff.” he complained as he fiddled with the hem of your pants.
“it’s only cause so many people love your music.” you lightly nudged his arm as you sat up. you leaned your arm against the sofa backrest as you rested your head in your hand. this put the two of you face to face, giving you the opportunity to look at him closely.
you loved the way his ashy purple hair fell onto his face. as a matter of fact, you loved every damn part of his face. from the warmth of his eyes to the softness of his lips, you could just never get enough. those blush pink lips of his were so irresistible, you just wanted to lean in and kiss him right then and there.
he looked at you quizzically. “what?”
“you have something on your face.” you lied, reaching to brush nothing off his cheek in embarrassment. he smiled, but it quickly faded. he let out another sigh.
“what’s wrong?” you asked with a slight pout.
“it’s my song. i’m scared people aren’t gonna like it.” he confessed, now hunched over with his forearms resting in his lap. you had almost forgotten that the band was planning to premiere a new song tonight. and it wasn’t just any new song, it was a song beomgyu had produced.
“what if nobody reacts? what if they leave during our set? what if they start booing? i’d be a failure of a musician!” he cried, now sitting slumped on the couch. he was bouncing his leg and staring off into space, and you just knew his mind was racing.
“stop stop stop!” you exclaimed through a laugh. his concerns were understandable, but you had to admit he looked a bit silly whining the way he did.
“why are you laughing?” he asked with a pout this time.
“because you sound a bit silly,” you replied cheekily, in hopes the teasing would cheer him up a bit.
“i’m being serious.” he said quietly.
“i know, and i get it. but you’re so good at what you do.” you reassured him.
“but this is lollapalooza. it’s a big deal. it’s a huge deal for us.” he replied in a bothered tone.
you had a feeling beomgyu’s worries were the main contributor to his now souring mood. but a part of you was beginning to get annoyed at the fact that he just wasn’t listening to you.
“you’re being stubborn.” you blurted out, regretting it immediately.
“i am not! god. maybe i should just take it off the setlist now while i still have a chance.” he replied defensively, quickly standing up from the couch.
“can you stop it!” you cried, also standing up to face him. “you’re being so annoying. you don’t see what i see.”
he looked at you perplexed.
“i know how much time and effort you put into your music, gyu. but most of all i see how talented you are,” you spoke earnestly, unintentionally starting an impromptu rant at your boyfriend.
“people love your music. why do you think you got invited here?” you continued, noticing his expression soften. “even though you’re the one on stage, i watch the crowd too. they eat it all up, they love you guys!”
“it annoys me because you don’t get it. you don’t get that your music is loved by so many!” you continued on your tirade. beomgyu inched his way closer to you. “you annoy me because you don't see how much you are loved!”
“and not just by me-mmph-” your words were suddenly interrupted by a pair of lips on yours.
cupping your cheeks in his hands, beomgyu guided your face closer to his. he deepened the kiss before pulling away and saying “and that’s all that matters.”
“i’m sorry for being stubborn,” he apologized, looking at you softly. you nuzzled your face into the crook of his neck.
“everyone’s going to love your new song. i promise.” you mumbled into his chest after a few seconds of silence. then, you looked up at him.
he whispered “thank you” before kissing your nose.
an absolute success; that’s what you’d call their performance.
beomgyu was absolutely electric on that enormous stage. and maybe it was the bias in you, but his band had to have been the highlight of the weekend. the energy of the crowd was unmatched, and the familiar melodies of their discography were transformed into amplified versions of themselves.
the reveal of your boyfriends’ newly produced track was met with an eruption of cheers. you watched fondly as beomgyu gleamed, face softening with both relief and delight. your heart was bursting with happiness, feeling so incredibly proud of him.
the second his band finished their set, you watched beomgyu hug his bandmates as they made their way off stage. they were all smiling so brightly, but your boyfriend’s smile was most infectious. on his way backstage, he thanked the stage crew and staff members as he caught his breath, coming down from his “performance high.”
then, you noticed his eyes start to wander and you had a feeling he was looking for you. you raised yourself up on your tippy toes and waved to get his attention. you met eyes, and the sweaty, out-of-breath boy made his way directly to you with absolute excitement. his ashy purple hair was almost matted to his forehead, skin glistening with perspiration. and you loved it.
immediately taking you into his embrace, he lifted you up and spun you around. you latched onto him, wrapping your arms around his neck.
“i told you they’d love it.” you said cheekily as he set you down.
“can you shut up?” he teased with a smirk before pressing your lips together.

It happens after a visit at the Mayfield trailer. Eddie comes up with a wonderful plan to prank Steve: He’ll announce that he’s going back to his trailer but actually sneak and hide in the back seat of Steve’s BMW - he had stolen the keys earlier and secretly unlocked it.
So, when he sees Steve starting to wrap things up so the kids can spend time together, Eddie makes the announcement that he’s leaving, and gives Max a squeeze on the shoulder on the way out. He’s giddy with excitement as he climbs into the backseat and hunches down. He holds his breath after he hears Steve yell at everyone to take care from the front of the trailer.
The car door opens and closes, and Eddie waits a moment before he jumps out, letting Steve really settle into the comfort of his car. Instead, Steve mumbles under his breath, “Okay, Harrington, hold it together. Kids are watching.”
Eddie hears him start the car and feels him reversing back then taking off quickly. There’s a click and then a cassette starts playing which Steve starts singing along to. It would be endearing if his voice wasn’t so tight, sounding like he’s struggling to hold back tears.
Eddie doesn’t know what to do as he hears the first song end. Steve says to himself, “Use her as the fucking bait… and you just let it happen!” There’s a loud noise that Eddie thinks is the smack of a hand on the steering wheel.
He curls further into himself as the next song plays. It’s one of those playlist that he knows he would make fun of Steve for if he wasn’t practically choking out the lyrics. After a loud sob, there’s a deep breath and then a stern, “Steve Harrington doesn’t fucking cry. Steve Harrington doesn’t fucking-” it’s broken off with another sob.
Then the car is suddenly coming to a stop, and the car is filled with whatever pop song Steve has playing and the sounds of Steve Harrington gasping for breath as he lectures himself about not crying. It’s fucking devastating, but Eddie knows Steve would never forgive him if he revealed himself now.
“She might never fucking walk again you fucking idiot,” Steve says then there’s another loud smack. “You were supposed to take care of them,” Steve says voice cracking awfully. Eddie hand flies up to his mouth as he chokes back a sob. He doesn’t know when he started crying.
“I need air,” Steve announces suddenly with a gasp and then the car door is opening and slamming shut. Eddie takes a moment to debate his choices. He can attempt to hurry away although he didn’t pay any attention to where Steve was driving. Or he can keep hiding in the car and risk Steve finding him during the rest of his breakdown.
Eddie tries the door handle and slowly climbs out the back. He turns to find Steve standing off the side of some back road, hands on his hips, and face staring up at the sky. One hand rises up to pinch at his nose as tears fall down his red face. He looks like he’s trying as hard as he can to not let this take over him, and Eddie can hear him still lecturing himself.
Eddie can’t stand the sight. And he can’t leave. Maybe Steve will hate him forever for intruding, but Eddie can’t let him go through this alone. He lets the back door of the car shut firmly. Steve whips his head to the side, eyes wide in shock but red rimmed and filled with tears.
He reaches up and angrily wipes away the tears. “What the fuck are you doing here?” Steve asks. Eddie just slowly approaches him as if he were a wild animal. “Were you fucking hiding in my car?!” Steve yells.
Eddie’s just glad that his anger is directed at someone other than himself. “Fucking answer me, Munson!” Steve yells again, tears still streaming down his face which he wipes at again. Eddie doesn’t answer but slowly gets closer.
“Get the fuck away from me freak.” Eddie lets the insult roll off him as best as he can as he finally gets into Steve’s space. “Go away,” Steve whispers desperately. His words betray him as Steve doesn’t attempt to move back.
Eddie lifts his arms up and pulls Steve into a hug. He tenses up immediately. “It’s okay. I’ve got you,” Eddie says, and Steve finally gives in. He sobs into his neck, nearly close to hyperventilating as Eddie runs a hand through his hair. “I’ve got you, okay? I’ve got you,” Eddie repeats again and again as Steve loudly sobs.
“It-it’s my fault,” Steve says finally catching his breath, voice all twisted up in agony that makes Eddie choke out a sob.
“It’s not your fault, Steve,” Eddie says, trying to hold back his own tears.
“I could’ve stopped it. I should’ve stopped it,” Steve says weakly pounding his fist on Eddie’s chest.
Eddie’s hands comes up to intertwine his fingers in Steve’s, making him release the fist. “We all could’ve stopped it. We’re all at fault here. The weight of the world and the fate of these kids doesn’t need to fall on you. You can’t always save everyone, but you did.” Eddie feels Steve’s grip tighten on him as he continues, “She could’ve died, but she didn’t. She might be in that wheelchair for a long time, but she’s alive. Hell, she’s even back more of an attitude when I didn’t think it was possible.” Steve lightly laughs at the remark which makes Eddie’s hold on him tighten even further.
A few moments later, Steve’s breath begins to even out enough that Eddie decides he can loosen his grip on him. He takes the moment to pull Steve slightly away so he can cup his face in his hands. His eyes are swollen and there are still tears streaming down his red face. His bottom lip is quivering no matter how hard he’s trying to press his lips together. And there’s definitely snot and tears getting mixed under his nose. It’s an ugly cry, but Eddie thinks Steve looks beautiful.
“You saved me, too,” Eddie reminds Steve. “You saved us all.”
Steve’s watery eyes search Eddie’s before he’s slowly nodding, finally accepting that maybe he isn’t entirely at fault for everything that’s happened, and maybe he even caused some good.
Eddie kisses him on the forehead and pulls him back into a hug. “You can cry, too, you know. As much as you need to because I’ve got you. I’ll be here forever if you need me to be,” Eddie says softly.
“Promise?” Steve says quietly.
“Promise,” Eddie says, tugging Steve closer on the side of the road, feeling the dampness on his shirt grow as Steve finally lets go.

Cheaper by the Dozen (Eddie Munson x Reader)
Summary: idk just Eddie being a dad to his adoptive child Dustin
Author’s Note: i adore the idea of eddie and reader being surrogate siblings / parents to dustin and the other geeks. i don’t want kids but i’ll be real bummed if i don’t get to be the cool aunt at some point in my life. eddie and reader are aged up because i’m 26 and need a man with a fully developed frontal lobe. (unrelated side note: i’m a redhead and i would literally melt into a puddle if eddie regularly called me “red” like he did max. muerta.exe has stopped working.)
Tumblr media
Dustin was a good kid. A great kid. Spending time with him, watching him grow up from the little boy you used to babysit on weeknights into the snarky, slightly larger boy he now was made you happier than you'd ever let him know (his ego was already huge and you didn't want to inflate it).
There were just days when you wished he'd leave you the hell alone.
Your closeness with Dustin wasn't helped by the fact that he was also super close with your boyfriend, Eddie. Ever since joining the Dungeons and Dragons club for teens Eddie ran as a volunteer at the Hawkins Library ("See, you're not as scary as you look. You're soft and gooey on the inside." "Shut up. I'm metal as fuck." "You're so cute when you're grumpy." "Babe, please. Let me have this."), Dustin was attached at his hip, adopting him as a surrogate brother the way he'd done you as a sister. It was nice getting to hang with both of them, joking with Eddie about already having a kid together and who would get custody if you were to ever break up, but Dustin sometimes had a hard time with boundaries.
Like this morning, when he stormed into Eddie's bedroom, rudely waking you both from a peaceful slumber.
"What are you guys still doing in bed?" he demanded, pulling up the blinds to let in the morning sunlight. "We've gotta get going!"
Eddie groaned, reaching for the blanket and pulling it over your heads. Dustin ripped it back down, to which Eddie responded with a string of curses.
"Dustin, you should really stop walking in on us," you grumbled. You opened your eyes just enough to look at him, squinting through the haze of your grogginess. "We have sex in here. Is Eddie's bare ass really something you want burned in your memory?"
"You never complain about it," Eddie mumbled. You pinched the softness of his stomach, to which he grinned, eyes still shut.
"This is important," Dustin argued. "It's Hellfire's Six Flags day! Mike and Lucas are waiting outside."
Eddie raised his wrist to check his watch, squashing you between his arm and chest. He sighed.
"It's seven in the morning, dude. We don't leave until eleven."
"We've gotta talk strategy. Which coasters we ride and what order we ride them in could make or break our experience."
"He's got a point," you yawned into Eddie's t-shirt. "If you don't plan your meals right, he'll puke."
Eddie ignored your advice, opting instead to hug you closer, his arms wrapping around you in a protective cocoon to block out the light and noise Dustin wreaked upon you.
"Mommy and daddy are sleeping," he dismissed. "Go play outside."
Dustin scoffed.
"Can we at least hang out inside while we wait, or are you gonna be gross back here?"
"Nah, we don't need any more kids," Eddie deadpanned. "You guys can come in. Just shut up and don't touch my stuff."
Dustin sprinted from the room, rattling the floor as he went. A few moments later, the chaos of three teenage boys rumbled through the trailer, making it impossible for you to fall back asleep. Eddie growled in frustration, stubbornly pulling the blankets up around you once again.
"We remembered to get condoms, yeah?" he asked.
"Yeah. Why?"
"Because I'll be damned if I ever spawn a little gremlin like that."
You giggled, pressing a kiss to his chin and savoring the scratch of his stubble against your lips.
"I dunno," you teased. "I kind of like the idea of calling you 'daddy'."
Eddie hummed, a devilish grin curling across his handsomely round cheeks. He kissed you, playfully pulling your lower lip between his teeth.
“You think if we’re loud enough they’ll fuck off?” he wonders wantonly, hands roving up and down your body. You laugh.
“Not in front of the kids, Eddie.”

Request
This request came in on my other blog from @mogami-13 and somewhere along the way it ended up deleted from my inbox there. I'm glad I had already copied it into a word doc, so hopefully you see it! It isn't quite the quote you were probably thinking, but I had to make it work for this situation, so I hope you like it still! Prompt: If you are still doing the asks, I just had a brilliant idea. So you know at the end of legally blonde where Elle brings up the rules of hair care? I need that quote with a Steve rescuing Eddie and Dustin from the bat tornado with a lighter and hairspray…
---------------------------------------------------
There was no way they’d win.
Steve realized it the moment he was being choked by vines against the wall of the Creel house.
But they had to at least get out alive so they could all regroup.
When the vines suddenly let them go, Steve had a sinking feeling in his gut that someone had done something stupid.
That someone had lost.
“We have to go!” he yelled to Robin and Nancy, hoping they would follow him quickly.
They didn’t have time. They may have already run out of it.
—-------------------------------------------
Running into the trailer park confirmed some of what Steve was thinking.
The bats were circling something, someone, and he already had a terrible gut feeling that that someone was Eddie.
That Eddie would have never let Dustin be in this position.
That Eddie was going to die.
He could hear him yelling, damn near screaming as the bats continued to dive towards him.
Steve couldn’t quite make out his entire body, but saw him desperately trying to stab at them with his homemade spear.
“Find Dustin,” Steve said to Robin. He turned to Nancy. “Use every bullet you have left on these things.”
“What are you gonna do?” she asked as Robin rushed towards the trailer that had been mostly boarded up.
“The bat is all I’ve got, but it’s better than letting him do this alone.”
They were missing fire.
They needed fire.
“Eddie!” Steve yelled as he got closer, smacking a bat midair when it tried to attack him.
“Steve, go! Just get out!” Eddie yelled back, sounding completely terrified.
“You’re not doing something stupid on my watch!” Steve yelled back.
The fight turned into a blur as he heard a handful of gunshots go off, a few bats falling, but still alive.
Eddie had managed to skewer one on his spear, but while he tried to fling it off, another one started wrapping itself around his middle.
Eddie’s scream echoed through the trailer park, and Steve froze.
That was a scream that happened right before death, right before someone’s last moments.
Steve wasn’t letting that happen.
“I’m out!” Nancy yelled.
“Go find hairspray and a lighter!” Steve yelled as he managed to beat two more bats away from him and Eddie.
He knew Nancy hated taking orders, but he also knew she was smart enough to know they didn’t have time to question anything.
They were used to working through emergencies with very few resources, with their plans not working.
“Steve!”
Steve would never forget the way Eddie yelled his name.
It was like he used what little remaining energy he had, like he was asking for help while knowing it was already too late.
Steve saw a flash of something out of the corner of his eyes, movement by the trailer that could have been more bats or could have been Nancy coming to help.
“Eddie, don’t give up, please,” Steve begged as he swung his bat. “Dustin would never forgive you. I would never forgive you.”
Maybe it was harsh, maybe he could have said something else to get him to keep fighting, but he knew it had to be at least a little effective when he saw another bat get speared on his stick.
His arms were getting tired, and he knew Eddie’s must have been too.
“Found some!” Nancy yelled to them.
Steve ran towards her, not wanting to waste any time waiting for her to get to them and risk the bats taking a bite out of her, too.
It was a large can of hairspray, thank God, but it wasn’t completely full, which meant he needed to use it sparingly.
He held up the lighter and the hairspray, pointed towards the bats, and started to spray.
The first few bats fell quickly, shriveling up a bit as the flames ate at their skin.
But he couldn’t quite get to all of them.
He kept spraying a path to Eddie, needed to at least get everyone back into the trailer to go through the gate.
Eddie was on his knees, blood on his face and hands, struggling to keep the spear up, already dropping his makeshift shield.
He was pale, and Steve could tell just from the quick glance he gave that he would die down here if they didn’t move much faster.
“Nancy, I need you to walk Eddie to the trailer while I spray. Do you have any bullets left?”
“No, gun’s jammed,” she said.
“Of course it is,” he sighed. “Alright, help him up, I’ve got your back.”
Being down here was about trust, something that Steve didn’t have much of with Nancy, but it wasn’t an option right now.
It was trust each other or die.
It wasn’t easy; Eddie was already weak and continued to get weaker every moment. Nancy was doing all she could to keep him upright and moving forward.
Steve was using up all of the hairspray just trying to keep the bats away from them as they moved to the trailer.
He could tell he was running out, knew they wouldn’t quite have enough at their current pace.
He needed to switch with Nancy and carry Eddie or they’d all end up dead.
“Nance, need you to take this and I’ll take Eddie.”
Again, she trusted him. She didn’t argue, she just grabbed the lighter from him, nudged Eddie over to him, and grabbed the hairspray.
It went much faster with Eddie on his back.
Steve had to ignore the pained groans leaving Eddie’s mouth every time he got jostled, knew if he stopped now, they’d never make it.
“He’s bleeding!” Dustin yelled when they got inside.
“Go, Dustin!” Steve yelled as he heard Nancy shut the door.
It wouldn’t hold for long, and it would take some time to get Eddie through the gate.
“No, not without him.”
“Dustin, go, man,” Eddie said from over Steve’s shoulder.
His voice sounded weak, wet, like he was slowly swallowing his own blood.
Nancy pushed Dustin onto the chair and between her and Robin, they managed to get him through.
Robin went next, knew an adult would need to be on the other side to help catch Eddie.
“Steve, his eyes are closed,” Nancy whispered to him before trying to help him readjust in his arms to get him through the gate.
“Eds, stay with us. We’re so close,” Steve begged, not stopping his movements.
“Steve…” Nancy said, her hand on Eddie’s wrist.
“No! No, Nancy, he’ll be fine. Just help me get him through.”
She wordlessly helped keep Steve stable as he got on the chair.
Eddie’s blood was all over him, but he wasn’t going to stop.
Eddie wasn’t breathing, but he couldn’t let him stay here.
“See you on the other side, Eds.”
—----------------------------------------------
The hospital room was empty except for Wayne in the corner, sleeping.
Steve refused to leave until Eddie woke up, so he was sitting by his bedside, hand on Eddie’s in case he woke up.
He hadn’t slept in the near 24 hours since they brought him here, hadn’t even gotten up to clean off in the bathroom in Eddie’s hospital room.
He was gross, and he knew the smell coming off of him was enough to make someone gag, but he wouldn’t leave.
He promised he wouldn’t leave him.
“You look like shit,” a raspy voice said.
Steve’s eyes zeroed in on where Eddie was smirking at him, eyes barely open.
“You and me both,” Steve said breathlessly.
“Well, my excuse is I almost died.”
Steve rolled his eyes, but bit back a sob.
“Wouldn’t have let that happen, Eds.”
Eddie searched his face for a moment before closing his eyes.
“Most romantic thing someone’s ever done for me, ya know,” he whispered.
“What?”
“Using hairspray and a lighter to save my life. How’d you know to do that?”
“The rules of haircare are simple: keep hairspray away from open flames unless you want fire,” Steve shrugged. “Was that really the most romantic thing someone’s done for you?”
“It’s tied with staying by my bedside until I wake up.”
Steve blushed.
“It’s alright, Stevie. I know you don’t mean it like that. Go home and rest,” Eddie said, sinking further into his pillow.
“What if I did mean it like that?”
Eddie’s eyes shot open.
“What?”
“Thought maybe we could go to the diner when you get out of this place. Sound okay?”
Eddie blinked slowly, his eyes still never fully opening from the drug induced haze.
“Eds?”
“Uh. Yep. We can do that.”
“Awesome.” Steve squeezed his hand once. “Oh, and if it’s okay with you, I think I’d like to kiss you when you’re awake next time. Just to make sure you know we’re on the same page.”
“Uh. Okay.”
“Cool.”
“Cool.”
Eddie slipped back into unconsciousness a minute later, and Steve finally let himself relax a little.
They may not have left with a total win, but he was leaving with a date.

starboy
pairing(s): jack champion x actress!fem!reader
warnings: none really ? she/her pronouns, fem reader, cursing, mentions of stabbing and scream VI spoilers i think ? also not proof-read and lowercase intended !
a/n: hi everyone !! so this is my first fic and i do plan on doing a second part. i really am more of a reader than i am a writer so please leave criticism in the replies !! also instead of y/n or reader i use just a blank (___) so let me know if i should change that and i dont know whether this is fluff or angst or like in the middle ? i’d say its a normal story but wtvr !! hope you enjoy !
you made your way onto set. you walked with your tote bag thrown over your shoulder, phone in hand as you walked pretty fast without looking up. knowing how clumsy you were, you were surprised you hadn’t bumped into anything yet. or maybe anyone. you got a text and opened as fast as someone could blink as soon as you saw the name.
jackkk💫:
R U Coming to set yet?🎥
you:
omw !! ready 4 me 2 stab u ?🔪🔪🩸
jackkk💫:
As ready as I’ll ever be😵‍💫
you asked jack if he wanted you to show him how to turn on all lowercase, but he refused. he said typing like someone’s dad is cool.
you caught yourself smiling at your phone before turning it off and looking around as you walked.
a few minutes later you made it to your trailer. you walked in and turned on the light, cracking your knuckles then tossing your bag on the small couch you had. you took your phone back out and texted jack.
you:
i’m here in my trailer, come get me ghostface👻👻
seen at 1:14
you thought it was sweet that there was a mutual thing between you and jack where it was completely needed and necessary to end all texts with an emoji, if either of you couldn’t find one you’d have to call or send an audio message.
about an hour later, everyone got their costumes on and ready to film. you were so thankful that the character you played, Elena, gave off the same vibes as you, so, you could dress her yourself. sometimes even with your own clothing. maybe it was your face ? you were very pretty, after all. a kind of rarer pretty, like a magical pretty ? but it definitely was not just your conventional attractive pretty. everyone got on set and you saw jack for the first time that day. you ran up to him and hugged him, your arms wrapped around his waist, in a friendly way. he hugged you back and you pulled away after a few seconds.
“ y’know, i think you’re a pretty good-looking killer “ you said to him with a soft smirk.
you guys always flirted with eachother, not even realizing.
“ why thank you “ he said in a weird accent.
before you started filming the prop guys had to fix some stuff so you guys got a quick break. you walked over to jack’s trailer, which he wasn’t in and sat down eating some gummies you found in your bag. after a few minutes jack comes inside without making noise since the door was cracked open already. he closes the door behind him silently and sits right next to you. he peeked over onto your phone as you played your favorite game. even though it wasn’t really fun to watch, he was insantly interested in anything you were. you didn’t even realize he was there because of how into it you were, besides, he didnt make a sound.  you noticed when he reached over to your bag of Haribos to get one. you jumped and almost dropped your phone.
“ shit, jack ! fuck ! you scared the life out of me “ you said with your hand that held your phone up to your heart.
he burst out into a fit of laughter.
“ your- “ he couldn’t even speak without laughing. after about a minute or two of him laughing wiping his tears and you staring at him like he’s insane he finally says something.
“ your face, ____ your face ! you looked at me like i’d just stabbed you ! “ he said, still with a smile from ear to ear on his face.
you looked at him with an unimpressed look on your face, scoffing at him as you bit back a smile.
“ it wasn’t even that funny, idiot “ you said as you ran your tongue across your teeth trying not to smile. he saw right through you.
“ you wanna laugh so badly, don’t you ? ” he said as he looked down at you. you looked up at him, with a soft smile on your face. you laughed a little too as you had to give in. the room went silent and awkward as you’d looked at each others faces for a few seconds. unconciously, you both leaned in. you looked at his lips and your full lips parted a bit. your heart was pounding but you didn’t know that his was too. your lips touched and your hand travels up his chest to the back of his neck, sliding up to grab a handful of his curly hair. you pulled him closer and before you knew it you were turning your head into the kiss. both hands around his neck now as you tugged lightly on his brown locks. then you realized. you really realized. you were close to, but not quite making out with jack champion. he was your starboy. you’d never believed it, even if you told yourself from this morning that you kissed jack champion for a good, 30 seconds, you wouldn’t believe it.
you opened your eyes and they widened, looking back at him. his cheeks a flushed, rosy color. as were yours. you opened your mouth to say something but nothing came out.
you got up and he did as well after you, towering over you. he looked at you with eyes that were saying that he wanted you to say something. anything. you couldn’t. physically, nothing could come out. you had no idea what was going on, you never thought of jack in that way. or, well, in the way that you would kiss him for almost a minute straight kind of way. you walked out practically running to your trailer.
all jack could do was watch, he was frozen and just as, if not even more shocked than you were. as you walked you remembered all the times you were around him. you’d get butterflies. he could be in the same room as you and you’d get butterflies but you’d labeled it as ‘nervousness’ for ‘no reason’. but it’d only ever happen around him. him. then you realized, the non-purpose flirting, the butterflies, the need to be around him. you were inlove with him ! god, how didn’t you notice before. that’s why everyone would look at you too with funny eyes whenever you’d flirt without knowing, thinking it was a friendship thing that only you two did around each other.
everyone probably definitely knew. they knew how you felt before you did. you opened the door to your trailer and locked it. you sat down as thoughts raced through your mind. how would you tell him ? how would you tell jenna and devyn and liana ? did he like it ? did he mean it how you meant it ? was it just a kiss for him ? .. is jack inlove with you too ?

Joel’s Pony Party
Tumblr media
Summary: You are planning a birthday party for your six year old niece. Turns out the guy who runs the pony party place offers you more than just a pony ride.
Rating: R (some sexual content toward the end); 18+ only, please!
Word Count: 6200+
Notes: I saw a horse trailer one day with a sign reading “Joel’s Pony Party” and my mind went on from there. This is an AU where there is no outbreak and Sarah and Ellie are the same age.
Maybe this was a huge mistake, you think as you steer your car down the increasingly potholed road. Obviously, a place with horses would be outside of town, but this didn’t look like the most savory area. Still, the pictures on the website had made it look nice, so you owed it to Ashley to check it out.
It had made so much sense at the time to volunteer to plan your niece’s sixth birthday party. Your sister was still knee deep in diapers with her youngest, Ashley’s little brother Jacob. Your brother-in-law was a sweetheart but useless at this sort of thing. His idea of entertaining was buying a 24 pack of beer instead of a 6 pack and buying the name brand chips for the queso dip. No, Ashley deserved a special birthday and you were going to give it to her.
You checked the directions you’d printed out from the internet. You should be close. The road curved slightly and you saw the neatly painted sign. “Joel’s Pony Party — Birthdays and Special Occasions.” The property looked much nicer than some of the places you’d driven past. The fencing was new and the driveway was freshly graded. So far, so good.
You drove through the gate and marveled at the paddock full of ponies and a couple of horses. Some of them lifted their heads from the grass to watch you drive past. They all looked healthy and well groomed. One of the bigger ponies, a flashy black and white pinto, tossed its head and galloped along the fence line, racing your car.
You parked in the graveled lot clearly marked “Guest Parking” and turned off the engine. A teenaged girl with an abundance of curly hair waved at you from the door of a tidy red barn. “Dad will be with you in a minute,” she called out. “You can pet the ponies if you want.”
The little pinto was trying to reach over the fence to you, so you obliged, scratching its nose and forehead. The pony smelled wonderful, like fresh hay and sunshine and that undeniable smell of horse that brought back your childhood. Trips to the pony ride at the park had been the highlight of your existence when you were five years old.
”She doesn’t have anything for you, Oreo.” The voice was slow and easy, not too deep. “Sorry, he’s a beggar. I’m Joel Miller.” The man held out his hand and you shook it. His grip was firm but gentle and his hand engulfed yours. You tried not to stare as you took in his broad shoulders and the neatly trimmed scruff on his face. A delightful combination of cowboy and businessman.
You introduced yourself. “I have to admit, I was a little concerned after driving past some of those places down the road, but you have a beautiful property.”
Joel nodded his head. “Thank you, ma’am. Sarah and I try to keep it up to snuff.” He tilted his head toward the girl. “If she ever outgrows her horse phase, I’m in deep trouble. Can’t keep this place goin’ without her.” He looked wistful for a moment, then snapped back to business mode. “So, you’re lookin’ for a place for your niece’s birthday. Let me give you a tour.”
He led you through the barn, which was cleaner than some houses you’d been to, and showed you the party area, a covered patio with brightly painted wooden picnic tables. Beyond it was a miniature race track. “The pony path,” Joel said. “Rather than one of those mechanical hot walker contraptions, we put the kids on a pony in there and let them walk around. Me or Sarah will stand in the middle and keep the ponies moving if they get too lazy, but otherwise the kids get to be in charge.” He chuckled. “Well, as in charge as anyone can be with a pony. Got some characters.”
Joel gestured toward a large shade tree. “Here’s where we hang the piñata.” Then toward a long table under a colorful awning. “And that’s where you can put the gifts and the cake. Keeps them out of the way of the kids.” He shuffled his boots in the dust. “We have two packages: Pony Princess and Cowpoke Experience. Most boys go for cowpoke but girls are pretty evenly split. Or we can do a hybrid if you’ve got boys and girls coming.”
He pulled a brochure out of his back pocket and spread it out on one of the picnic tables. As he leaned over, his shirt strained at his shoulders and it was all you could do to keep your focus on the brochure. And his thick finger as he pointed out the options.
”Pony Princess comes with a unicorn and the piñata is a dragon. We also have a trunk of dress up clothes. Fairy wings and princess dresses and magic wands, stuff like that. The birthday girl gets to wear a crown, ‘cause she’s the princess.”
”Cowpoke Experience comes with roping lessons and the piñata is a cowboy boot. No guns, but we have cowboy hats and bandanas and leather vests for dress up. And the birthday kid wears the sheriff’s badge.”
You glanced at the prices at the bottom of the pages and nodded. Yes, this would do. And even if it was a bit more than you’d planned, you’d gladly pay it to spend more time with Joel.
“Definitely Pony Princess for Ashley,” you said. “She’s in her Disney Princess stage right now and all her friends are into fairies and magic and everything.”
”All right, let’s get the calendar and see if we can get this scheduled for you. Sarah!”
Sarah popped out of nowhere. “Yeah, Dad?”
”Run and get the booking calendar, would you? Need to set up a party for this nice lady’s niece.”
”She seems like a good kid,” you said, desperate to make small talk so you wouldn’t gawk at the man in front of you.
”She is,” he said with a smile. “A lot like her mama was.”
”Her mother …” you didn’t know how to ask without seeming nosey.
”Passed on when Sarah was little,” Joel said softly. “It’s been  just the two of us. Well, and my brother, when he’s around. And now the horses.” He sighed. “I used to be a contractor but I messed up my back pretty good and my cousin Louis was moving to Alabama so he offered me the place. Already had a good business doing pony rides, and it was Sarah’s idea to start doing birthday parties and events. She’s gonna be a party planner or something like that when she grows up. Organized and on top of everything.” He shook his head, a soft smile on his lips. He was clearly very proud of his daughter.
Sarah dashed up with a battered leather planner in her hands. As she laid it down on the table, she pulled a pencil out of her pocket. “See,” Joel said. “Always prepared.”
Sarah rolled her eyes. “It’s just common sense, Dad.” She flipped the pages to the current date. “Hope we can fit you in close to your niece’s actual birthday.”
You perused the calendar. There were two sets of handwriting, one neat and precise but masculine, the other just as neat but more exuberant. You spotted the Saturday before Ashley’s birthday. “How about this day? I see you have something at 9:00 am but maybe we can do the afternoon?”
”Perfect,” said Joel. “How’s 2 o’clock? Gives us time to clean up after the morning event and then you don’t have to provide lunch, just cake and ice cream.” He smiled and you smiled back. Cake and ice cream were included in the price of the package, but lunches and snacks were not. You’d save a bit that way.
”Sounds like a deal,” you said. “Do we need to sign a contract or anything?”
”Give me a day or two to write it up and you can come back to sign it, if that’s not too much trouble?” He fixed his chocolate brown eyes on you and for a moment you couldn’t even breath, let alone form a coherent thought.
”Um, yeah, that’d be great,” you managed to say after an awkward moment. “You can call me when it’s ready and I’ll come out as soon as I can.” You scribbled your cell phone number on the margin of the planner, along with your name.
”Much obliged,” Joel said. “Pony Princess party, 2 o’clock on Saturday the 15th.”
”And when you come back to sign the paperwork, you can meet all the ponies,” Sarah said. “You can pick out which one your niece gets to ride.” She glanced slyly at Joel. “Maybe Dad can take you out on one of the horses, if you have the right shoes.” She looked down at your tennis shoes and shook her head. Like Joel, she had on well worn cowboy boots, the working kind, not the fashionable kind.
”I might have some boots that would work,” you said. “But I haven’t been on a horse in years. Maybe we’d better leave that to the kids.”
Joel looked you up and down, which made your face heat up. “You’d look good on a horse,” he said. “I think maybe Guapo?”
Sarah nodded firmly. “Oh, yeah, Guapo would be perfect for you. He’s a real softie, good with beginners but not one of those dead to the world type they give you at rental stables.”
“We’ll see,” you said. “I’d — I’d better be going. I have some errands to run before I head home and I’m sure you’re both busy. I’ll see you in a few days.”
”I’ll call you when I have the contract ready,” Joel said, nodding his head. If he’d been wearing a hat, he would have tipped it. “Nice to meet you.”
As you walked back toward your car, you heard Sarah giggling and Joel shushing her sternly. The kid was a pretty good wingwoman. You wondered how much a pair of real riding boots cost.
***************************************************************************
Joel called you two days later and you arranged to come by that Thursday to sign the contract and finalize the details. You rarely took time off work, so no one batted an eye when you put in for a half day of personal necessity because of an appointment. You left work and stopped off at home to change into jeans and a pair of low heeled boots. You finished off the outfit with a t-shirt that you’d gotten compliments on before.
As you turned into the drive at Joel’s place, you saw that the way was blocked by a large blue pickup. Joel was in the bed, tossing flakes of hay over the fence into the pasture.
“I’ll be done in a few minutes, then I’ll get outta your way,” he called out. He was wearing a dirty grey t-shirt with a couple of holes in it and his jeans were covered with dust, but he looked amazing. You didn’t mind waiting with a view like that.
”No worries,” you called back. “Do you need any help?”
”Ah, no darlin’, I’ve got this. Been bucking hay for quite a few years now.” He paused and wiped the sweat off his brow with the back of his arm. “Louis’ dad, my uncle, used to have a full on cattle ranch when we were kids. Spent summers out there helping with the horses until I was thirteen.”
You got out of your car and leaned against the fender. “Must have been a dream come true for a Texas kid.”
Joel shrugged. “It was just work. Tommy always conveniently disappeared when it was time to muck out stalls, but I covered for him.” He returned to his task, easily breaking a bale of hay into flakes and tossing them expertly over the fence, each one landing a few feet from the previous one. The horses and ponies each claimed a flake of their own, except for a few squabbles involving the tiniest pony, a chestnut with a broad white blaze on its face.
”Stop it, you little shit,” Joel yelled, shaking his head. “That li’l Sebastian is the worst. He’s actually a miniature horse, not a pony, so he can’t be ridden and he knows it. Spoiled rotten. But he’s gentle with the little kids and the ones who can’t ride or are too afraid. Gets petted and fed carrots and never does a lick of work.”
Sebastian lifted his nose and pranced toward a tall white horse. He snorted and swished his tail and the big horse reluctantly yielded its hay to the little guy. “See?” Joel said. “Guapo, just step on him.”
The white horse sighed deeply and shook his head. Joel tossed a flake in his direction and it landed neatly in front of him. Then Joel hopped down from the truck bed. “I’ll get this ol’ beast out of the way and you can drive up to the parking area. I’ve just got to run up to the house for the paperwork, wash my hands, and I’ll be right back.”
You tried not to notice his backside as he stepped into the cab of the truck, but it was right there in front of you. He filled out a pair of jeans nicely.
You parked in the visitor lot, while Joel parked his truck off to the side. “Go on through the barn and sit at one of the tables,” he called out. “I’ll be there in a minute.” He walked quickly toward the neatly painted white ranch style house that stood behind the pasture, his gait a bit stiff. He’d mentioned hurting his back at work before starting the party business. It looked like it still bothered him.
You sat at one of the picnic tables. It was pleasant under the patio roof, which blocked the sun but allowed a nice breeze. Whoever had designed this place knew what he was doing.
Joel hurried back with a sheaf of papers in his hand. His hands were clean but the rest of him was still dusty. There were bits of hay stuck to his shirt and in his hair. “Okay,” he said, settling down next to you. “Let’s go over the details and then get this contract signed.”
It was hard to concentrate on the paperwork with him sitting beside you. He smelled like hay and sweat and horses and something else, maybe aftershave or deodorant that had a hint of something woodsy. Whatever it was, the entire cocktail of scents was enticing.
”So, the standard party comes with a sheet cake from Kroger and vanilla ice cream. The cake will say Happy Birthday and your niece’s name. You get to pick what color icing for the words and the border. And we put a plastic unicorn on top that she gets to keep.”
”Um, purple, she’s into purple right now.”
Joel nodded and wrote “purple” into a blank on the sheet in front of him. His handwriting was neat and precise.
”Okay, and the piñata will be a dragon, unless you want something else. No extra charge, all the piñatas are the same price.”
”Dragon is fine,” you said, distracted by a piece of hay that was lodged in the curls just above his temple. You fought the urge to reach out and remove it.
”You okay?” Joel asked.
“Um, yeah, you just … you have some hay …” You gestured toward his head and he brushed his hand through his hair.
”Occupational hazard,” he said with a gentle laugh. “Did I get it?”
”Not quite. Do you mind …?”
He leaned toward you and you plucked the hay stem from his hair, which was silky soft. You wanted to run your fingers through it so badly, but you contented yourself with removing the hay. “There, now you look presentable,” you said.
”Thanks,” he said softly. There was a pause, charged with something that certainly wasn’t business related. He cleared his throat. “Okay, so we have games.”
You half listened as Joel went over the games and activities that would be provided. You just nodded and agreed to all the standard choices. Ashley would just be thrilled to be around ponies and dress up with her friends. And if you weren’t talking, that meant you got to listen to Joel’s voice even more.
You reached the end of the paperwork and Joel handed you the pen to sign the contract. It was still warm from his hand and you shook just a little as you wrote your signature on the dotted line.
”All done,” Joel said. His eyes swept up and down your body. “So, you ready for that ride?”
Your tongue wouldn’t move. Had he really just suggested …?
“I mean, you wore jeans and boots, so I figured you were planning to take me up on Sarah’s offer.”
”Oh, yeah,” you said, shaking your head as the blood rushed to your face. “Sorry, I was just … yeah, a horseback ride would be wonderful.”
Joel swept the paperwork up. “Back in two jiffs,” he said. “I’ll just put this in the office and then we’ll get the horses ready.”
He ducked into a small room in the barn, then handed you a lead rope. You followed him to the pasture, where the horses were still nibbling at their hay. Joel opened the gate and walked inside, catching first the white horse, Guapo, and then a big strong looking bay horse. He took the lead rope from you and clipped it onto Guapo’s halter.
”He’s a sweetheart,” he said. “Just walk and he’ll go with you. Take him into the breezeway in the barn.”
You were nervous. You’d never handled a horse before, but Guapo was just as gentle as Joel promised. He walked alongside you, his head bobbing with the rhythm of his hooves, which clip-clopped against the hard packed dirt and the concrete of the barn floor.
Joel soon followed with the bay horse. You watched as he tied both horses to rings set in the wall and gave them a quick brushing. Then he brought out the saddles, which he handled as if they weighed nothing. It was fascinating to watch him tack up the horses, moving gently but quickly as he got them ready for the ride. Soon they were both saddled and bridled and you started to feel nervous again.
Joel showed you how to lead Guapo by the cheek piece of his bridle. “Just walk him over to the mounting block,” he said. “He knows the drill.”
Sure enough, the white horse stood next to the set of wooden steps so that they were perfectly aligned with his saddle. Joel smiled at you as he took the reins just under Guapo’s chin. “You okay to get on by yourself?”
”I think so,” you said. “It’s been years since I rode a horse.”
”Just remember, left foot in the stirrup, then hop up and swing the right leg over.” You felt incredibly exposed as you fumbled your way into the saddle. If you hadn’t felt Joel’s eyes on you the whole time, it would have been easier.
Once you were in the saddle, Joel led Guapo forward a few steps and then took your ankle in his hand. “Slip your foot out,” he said quietly. “I need to adjust the stirrups.” He pushed your leg forward so that your foot was on Guapo’s shoulder, then tugged at the leather straps. When he was done, he grabbed your foot and put it back into the stirrup. His hands were big and strong. He nodded and then went around the other side to adjust the right stirrup. Being man-handled, even so gently, was making you very aware of your body. You shifted in the saddle, glad your jeans were thick enough to hide the dampness that was spreading through your panties.
Once Joel was satisfied that your stirrups were good, he fetched the bay horse from the barn and swung into the saddle with a grunt that made your insides clench. “I’m supposed to use the mounting block,” he said, “‘cause of my back, but just don’t tell Sarah, okay?”
You nodded. “Okay, remember, hold the reins in your left hand, just above the saddle horn. Keep your fist up, like you're gonna do a thumbs up. Steer him like using a joystick on one of those old Atari games. Move your hand to the right to go right, left to go left, back toward your belly to stop or slow down. And sit back in the saddle when you ask him to stop. All right, let’s go.”
He tapped his heels against the bay horse’s sides and they walked off. Guapo followed behind after you gave him a gentle tap. It was a different world from up on a horse’s back. You could feel Guapo’s muscles moving beneath the saddle, hear his breathing and snorts as the other horse kicked up dust in his face, and the creaking of the saddle leather.
“Wow, this is so cool,” you said.
“This is nothing,” Joel said over his shoulder. “This is just a pony ride. You get good enough, there’s a place down by the river where the sand is level and smooth and you can gallop. Talk about a real cowgirl experience. Ah, shit, that didn’t sound right, I’m sorry.”
You laughed. “I know what you meant. And either way, it sounds amazing.” You felt the blood rush to your face again as the words popped out of your mouth. You hadn’t meant to flirt so hard. This was technically still a business transaction, after all.
Joel laughed heartily. “Yeah, it does, doesn’t it?” His eyes skimmed over your body once again. “You look good on a horse. Not everyone does.”
”Thanks,” you said. “So do you.”
The trail widened out and Joel pulled his horse back so that you were riding side by side. “You know, Sarah would kill me if I didn’t take the opportunity to ask you out. After the party, of course.”
”Of course,” you said. “And she’d probably kill me if I didn’t say yes. I mean, how often does someone literally bring you a white horse?”
”Gray,” Joel said. “Guapo’s not white, he’s gray.” He shook his head. “Shit, sorry, I’m used to teaching the kids about how white horses are really rare and most of the ones you see that look white are really grays … and I’m rambling, aren’t I?”
”Yeah, but it’s adorable,” you said. “Makes me feel a little less awkward myself.”
You rode in silence for a moment. “Can I ask you something?”
”Sure,” Joel said.
”Why’s he named Guapo? I mean he’s not ugly or anything but he’s certainly not Trigger or the Black Stallion, is he?”
Joel smiled. “Louis went to the horse auction to get some ponies. Saw this fellow in the pen and he looked like hell. Skinny, had a skin rash, just messed up. Knew he’d end up with the kill buyers, so he bought him. Everyone teased him about buying an ugly horse, but his assistant, Reynaldo, stood up for him. He said ‘Don’t let them laugh at you, you’re muy guapo, my friend.’ And it turns out, after they got him cleaned up and fed and everything, they checked his lip tattoo and he’s a Thoroughbred. Ran thirty races in his career and won three. Even was in a stakes over at Sam Houston when he was three. Finished up the track, but at least he had a shot at glory.”
”Wow, you were a racehorse?” You leaned forward to pat Guapo’s neck. He flicked an ear back at you. “He’s so gentle.”
”Smart horses, Thoroughbreds,” Joel said. “King here, he’s half quarter horse, half Andalusian. Talk about smart.” He patted the bay horse on the neck. “But he needs an experienced rider. Guapo knows how to take care of a beginner. King would just take advantage of them.”
You chatted back and forth as the horses walked down the trail. Joel was relaxed, sitting his horse easily, his eyes crinkled against the sun. You could have looked at him all day. And the way his hips moved with the rhythm of King’s stride …
Eventually, Joel glanced at his watch. “Better head back,” he said with a sigh. “Sarah will be getting home from school any minute and if she has to do more than her fair share of the barn chores I’ll get an earful.”
He turned King around and headed back up the trail. Guapo followed suit and before you knew it, both horses were trotting, eager to get home. Joel hardly moved in his saddle, but you were jolting all over the place.
”Ouch! How do you stay sitting down when they do this?”
Joel laughed mischievously. “Well, it helps that King’s got that smooth Quarter Horse jog,” he said. “Guapo was taught two speeds: walk and run. Off track Thoroughbreds have a real rough trot. Probably should have warned you.” He reined King back to a walk and Guapo dropped back into a less bone-jolting gait as well.
“Thought I was going to fall off for a second there,” you said.
“You were bouncing around quite a bit,” Joel admitted, although from the look on his face, he hadn’t minded watching you jiggle.
“You did that on purpose,” you realized.
“Had to give you the full cowgirl experience,” he said with a wink. You had reached the narrow beginning of the trail again, and he pulled King in front of Guapo, so you only had a view of his back, but you were certain he was smirking. You didn’t mind too much, though; the view was worth any amount of teasing you had to endure. Joel Miller had a mighty fine seat.
***************************************************
Sarah was leaning smugly against the side of the barn when you rode up. “Trying to stick me with all the chores while you’re off having fun, huh, Dad?”
”If I recall, it was your idea I take her out for a ride,” he said, swinging easily off King’s back. Sarah took the reins and led the bay toward the barn. Joel came and stood next to Guapo’s shoulder.
”You need any help getting down?”
”I think I can manage,” you said. You weren’t as graceful as he was, though, and stumbled a bit as your left foot caught in the stirrup on the way down. Joel’s hands were there to steady you.
”Kick both feet clear before you get off next time, then you won’t have that problem,” he said gently. “But otherwise, I’d give it a seven.” His hands were warm against your arms.
”Ah, geez, Mr. M, there’s kids here.”
Joel rolled his eyes. “Ellie, what the hell are you doing here?”
You both turned to see another girl leaning against the barn. She was around Sarah’s age, her brown hair pulled back in an untidy pony tail and a defiant smirk on her face.
”Sarah invited me,” she said. “Said you were making chili for dinner and you know they don’t feed me at that place.”
”That is one hundred percent grade A bullshit,” Joel said. “I know for a fact that Mrs. Morales is a great cook. She brings stuff to the PTA meetings all the time and we all fight over it.”
Ellie shrugged. “Exactly. All us kids have to fight over it, too. At least around here there’s only two other people I have to compete with.” Her eyes narrowed at you. “Maybe three, huh?”
”She’s not staying for dinner,” Joel said. “Unless you want to …?”
”Thank you, but I should probably get going. I left work early today and there’s some stuff I need to take care of before I go in tomorrow.” If it had just been him and Sarah, you would have said yes in a heartbeat.
Sarah came back out of the barn and took Guapo’s reins. “Way to just stand there, Ellie,” she said. “You could have helped.”
”I thought I was a guest,” Ellie whined, as she followed Sarah and Guapo into the barn.
”It’s still polite to offer help,” Sarah said.
”Sorry, I wasn’t raised in a barn like some people,” Ellie replied.
Joel shook his head. “Those two. Ellie’s in foster care. Nice family but poor kid’s been bounced around so much she keeps a wall up. She likes Sarah, though. And she’d never admit it, but she loves the ponies. Caught her braiding flowers into Sebastian’s mane one day.”
He walked you back to your car. “So, I guess I’ll see you on the day of the party.” He shuffled his boots in the gravel.
“Yeah, I guess so,” you replied. “Um, thanks again for the ride. I had a lot of fun. Although my backside might have another opinion by the time I get home.” You rubbed at the seat of your jeans.
”You and your backside are welcome any time,” he said. “And I meant it about that date after the party. We’ll go somewhere nice, I promise. You won’t have to wear jeans.”
”Anywhere is fine if it’s with you,” you said without thinking. “I mean … I’m not fussy. I don’t expect a first date to be …”
Joel ducked his head and smiled. “I hear ya,” he said. “I just want it to be special because I think you’re pretty special. I mean, doing all this for your niece … you’re a good aunt.”
”Just kiss her already,” Ellie yelled from the barn. “There’s barn chores to do, Mr. M!”
Joel shook his head. “I swear, if that kid hadn’t already had such a rough life …” He leaned forward and kissed you on the cheek. “That’s an IOU for a real kiss. Once you’re no longer a customer.”
”I expect full payment on that,” you said. “I’ll see you at the party.”
You got into your car and pulled out. Joel stood watching you drive away and you got butterflies in your stomach. Maybe this whole party thing was turning out to be more of a present for yourself than for Ashley.
*************************************************************
The morning of the party was pure chaos. Ashley couldn’t decide which princess dress to wear, the baby was fussy, your brother-in-law had a cold and was sneezing his head off, and your sister was about ready to break down in tears.
”I’ve got this,” you said as soon as you arrived at their house. “Ashley, why don’t you wear the purple dress? It’ll match your cake. And you can wear your jeans underneath so it’ll be more comfortable riding the ponies.” You took Jacob and started to bounce him up and down. “Sis, go get yourself ready.” You turned to your brother-in-law. “And you, go take a dose of DayQuil and then sit down and rest.”
Eventually, everyone was in the minivan and ready to go. You volunteered to drive, since you knew the way. Your sister sat in the passenger seat beside you.
”Thank you again for planning all this,” she said. “I know it was a lot of work, but Ashley is so excited to ride the ponies.”
”Well, it wasn’t all that hard,” you admitted. “Joel’s got a really nice set up and he took care of all the details. All I have to do is show up and pay the bill.”
”You like him, don’t you? I can tell by the way your face lights up when you talk about him. And you’ve been talking about him an awful lot for someone you’re doing business with.” She winked.
”I do like him,” you said. “We’re going to go out soon. After the party is over, when I’m not a client anymore.”
”Good for you. You deserve it.”
You were the first car to arrive, which made you sigh with relief. Sarah waved at you from the barn. “Welcome! Is this the birthday girl?”
”It is,” you said, leading Ashley over while your sister and brother-in-law got Jacob out of his car seat. “Ashley, this is Sarah. Her daddy owns this place.”
”Lady Sarah Miller at your service, Your Majesty,” Sarah said with a curtsy. “You’re the princess today, so let’s get your crown!”
She led you through the barn and both you and Ashley gasped when you saw the party area. There were pink and purple streamers and balloons hanging from the roof and every table had a runner of white butcher paper and several small buckets of crayons. A big gold painted armchair sat at the end of the table closest to the gift table. It was draped with purple cloth and a glittery plastic crown sat on a purple cushion.
”This is your throne,” Sarah said. “Because it’s your special day and you’re the princess, you get to sit in the best seat in the house.” She helped Ashley put on the crown and secure it to her hair with bobby pins.
“And now, before your guests arrive, let’s meet your unicorn!”
Joel appeared, leading a white pony with a golden horn attached to its forehead. Its mane had been dyed all the colors of the rainbow. “This is Alabaster,” he said gently, crouching down to Ashley’s level. “She’s a very special unicorn and she only comes to visit the farm on days when there’s a princess here. So we’re lucky you came.”
Ashley fell in love with Alabaster and immediately started petting her. Sarah showed her how to offer carrots on a flat palm so that Alabaster couldn’t accidentally nip her. “Unicorns love carrots,” Sarah said. “They’re like candy to them, so sometimes they get a little bit greedy, just like we do. So we have to be careful they don’t hurt us with their magical teeth.”
You turned to Joel. “This is beautiful,” you said. “She’s going to remember this day for the rest of her life. Thank you.”
”Just doin’ my job,” Joel said. “Although we did throw in a few extra touches special for Ashley. And there’s one more surprise just for you.” He gestured for you to follow him. Around the side of the barn stood Guapo, his mane braided with flowers and a silvery unicorn horn parting his forelock. “Sarah and Ellie thought you might enjoy a unicorn of your own. Ellie did the mane, believe it or not.”
“Oh, Joel, he’s … he’s beautiful.” You stroked Guapo’s face. The gelding looked a bit embarrassed to be all gussied up, but he leaned into your hand. “But you know a real unicorn can only be tamed by a maiden fair. And it’s been a long time since I was a maiden, if you know what I mean.”
Joel grinned. “Well, Guapo’s a special kind of unicorn. He doesn’t care about all that. He just looks for a woman who’s pure of heart, the kind of woman who would go to great lengths to give her niece a special birthday.”  He laid his hand on Guapo’s face, his fingers just brushing against yours. “And as his human sponsor, I for one have no use for fair maidens.” His voice lowered. “I like my ladies a bit more experienced.”
”Oh, I know how to ride,” you said. “Guapo can tell you that.”
“Well, there’s a difference between what Guapo and I expect on a ride,” he said. “But we can talk about that later. Right now, we’ve got a pony party to put on!”
********************************************************************
”Damn, girl, you weren’t kidding when you said you knew how to ride,” Joel said, his hands digging into your hips. You were straddling him, his cock buried deep within you, chasing your second orgasm of the night.
“Helps if you have a good mount,” you said. “One who’s well trained, knows what he’s doing, and listens to your cues.” You worked your hips against him, inching ever closer to a climax.
Joel bucked under you. “Helps the mount if the rider is good,” he panted. “Gotta work as a team.”
You’d had dinner at a local Italian restaurant and then had gone back to his place. Sarah was spending the night with a friend, so you had the whole house to yourselves.
Your body stiffened as you tipped over the edge, and Joel soon followed you, giving one final thrust as he spent himself inside you. “Hot damn,” he said, as you slid off of him, careful not to disturb the condom. “I don’t normally do this on a first date, you know.”
You flopped down beside him. “Neither do I,” you said. “But with Sarah out of the house it was too good an opportunity to pass up, don’t you think?”
He disposed of the condom and brought a washcloth from the bathroom. After you had cleaned yourselves up, he gently held your chin. “I like you,” he said seriously. “Sarah likes you. The horses like you. I think … maybe we can make this work.”
”So do I,” you said. “I want to try, as least.”
”Guapo’s a good judge of character,” he said.
”Unicorns usually are.”

A/N: This popped into my head earlier, I had to write it before Christmas is over for this year! Enjoy, everyone!
Words: 1348 Warnings: fluff
“Okay but what if the villain turned out to be the alleged ally? You know, that siren they met that showed them the way? If you want a plot twist, that’s gonna blow their minds.”
Making friends used to be so much easier back when you were still in kindergarten. You’d look at each other, share a toy and play pretend without even knowing each other’s names. Today, things were more complicated, especially when you moved to Hawkins, not knowing anyone.
A small town such as this was generally suspicious of new people, even at your new job which was the reason you had moved here in the first place. Everyone had been suspicious—everyone except for Eddie Munson who had practically welcomed you with open arms.
Now here you were, working on his new campaign with him on his bed, cuddling with one of his pillows and watching him frantically scribble down ideas for it. One of his mixtapes was playing in the background, introducing you to a bunch of bands you had never heard of before. Sure, you knew Metallica but you’d never exactly listened to them until you met that goofy metal head.
“You know what, sweetheart, that’s a brilliant idea.” Eddie grinned, tossing the dice he’d been fidgeting with to the side to write it down. It was then the both of you were interrupted by a knock on the door.
Wayne stuck his head through the gap in the door. He gave you a quick nod when he spotted you.
“Uncle Wayne, old man, aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Eddie asked, beaming at him.
“Change of plans. Have you got a moment, boy?”
“Oh, that sounds like my cue. I should get going anyways, it’s getting late. There’s still lots to prepare for Christmas dinner tomorrow.”
You pressed a kiss to Eddie’s cheek before you slid off his bed and patted Wayne on the shoulder on your way out.
“Okay, I’ll see you after Christmas then?”
“Of course! I wouldn’t miss that campaign for anything!”
“I’ll see you around, kid. I keep forgetting you live on your own. Take a leaf out of her book, Eddie.”
You grabbed your jacket, chuckling when Eddie rolled his eyes. When you leaned down to put your shoes on, Wayne’s voice got quieter.
“So what’s up?”
“I’m sorry, boy, I have bad news. It… looks like I won’t be able to afford Christmas dinner this year. We’ll have to manage without a turkey. Those stupid birds cost a fortune these days…”
You swallowed, pretending you didn’t hear them as you tightened your shoelaces.
“We’ll just… have a frozen pizza meal, Wayne, it’s alright.” It wasn’t alright, you could hear the sadness and disappointment in his voice. Eddie had told you his Christmasses as a child had never been the jolliest, it pained you all the more to hear him pretend like he wasn’t bothered by the tragic circumstances.
“You sure, boy?” Your eyes travelled to the small Christmas tree in the corner of the living room. It was barely as high as the dinner table and decorated with those cheap plastic baubles they sold at the local supermarket. Given that Eddie and Wayne lived in the trailer park, the fact they weren’t all too wealthy didn’t surprise you. But this? Christmas was only once a year, if Wayne couldn’t even afford that, things must have been incredibly tough for them right now.
“It’s a really cold winter. The heating costs are a lot higher than usual, that ate up the budget for Christmas. I’m really sorry, Eddie. We’ll still have a great night, I hope.”
“Sure we will, Wayne.”
With a silent sigh, you tore your gaze away from the sad Christmas tree and sneaked out of the house, deciding there and then you wouldn’t let Eddie and his uncle spend Christmas with frozen pizza and without presents.
-
The thing was, you were initially going to spend Christmas Eve alone anyway. You didn’t exactly know a lot of people yet except for Eddie anyway and travelling back home to your family was too pricy even for you but at least, you would treat yourself to a few new books and most importantly, Christmas dinner. So now, instead of preparing everything at home, you packed up all the ingredients and sides and wrapped yourself up to visit the Munsons.
You had even gone out to buy some last minute presents for the two of them. Needless to say, when you knocked on the door on the night of Christmas Eve, feeling like the main character in a Christmas movie, Wayne was more than surprised when he opened the door.
“Hey, Mr. Munson. Sorry to disturb you on Christmas Eve without any forewarning, um… may I come in?”
“Of course, kid. Come in before you freeze on the porch.”
He opened the door wider for you to step in, revealing Eddie sitting at the kitchen table with his copy of The Hobbit. His brown eyes lit up when he recognised you under the warm scarf and the hat, calling out your name.
“Hey, Eds.” You grinned, putting the bags you had brought on the kitchen table. “Merry Christmas to you both. I, um… okay, look, this is going to be weird but the other day I, uh… I overheard you saying that your budget was too tight for a proper Christmas dinner this year and… I truly didn’t mean to eavesdrop but I was going to spend the evening alone and… well, long story short, I brought my turkey here and I thought we could have Christmas dinner together?” You gasped for air, hoping Eddie’s uncle wouldn’t be too mad you had heard about his financial struggles. Instead, he blinked at you, unwilling to believe what had just come out of your mouth and Eddie… Eddie wrapped his arms around you and kept kissing your face until you turned into a giggling mess.
“You’re amazing!”
“That’s… I don’t know what to say, kid. Thank you.”
Eddie lifted you off your feet in the meantime, turning you both around until you started feeling dizzy. “Shit, I’m officially in love with you!” You paused, realising what he had just said. Eddie appeared equally surprised about his own words. He put you down again and for just a brief moment, you looked at each other. You cleared your throat. You’d speak about this after Christmas dinner, without Wayne in the room—even if your heartbeat sped up by two-hundred percent.
“I, um… I brought presents, too.”
Ever since the new Metallica album had come out, Eddie was raving about the special edition vinyl including instrumental versions and even a new version of an older song. The local record store had had exactly one left when you got there and for Wayne, you had bought a new toolbox because his old one was falling apart and you remembered him saying he loved building and fixing things around the house. You’d wrapped them neatly, with both their eyes widening when you pulled them out of your bag and placed them under the small Christmas tree.
“Wayne, would you take care of the turkey? Eddie and I will prepare the sides. I brought potatoes and some fresh vegetables, and I made some sauces at home to go with the meat.”
“Sounds great, kid, thank you.” Wayne got to work immediately, accepting the turkey you handed him to move to the kitchen. Eddie nudged you with his hips, pushing you forward a little. You chuckled, handing him the potatoes. He looked at them as if they’d bite him if he touched them too much.
“Let’s go, Eddie The Banished. We’re all hungry.”
“Have I mentioned you’re amazing?”
“Uh-huh. And you can tell me some more while we’re chopping up the vegetables.” The kiss he pressed to your cheek in response felt different—more affectionate and intimate than your usual hellos and goodbyes. You bit your lower lip, heating up from the inside out. Merry Christmas indeed. You should have brought some mistletoe as well.
-

“So you finally told him?” Robin asked, laying on her stomach on your bed as you sat on the floor facing her.
After you left the school that afternoon you just went home and waited until you knew Robin would be home. Once you knew it would be safe to call her house, you did. Three times before Robin finally picked up. You could hear her intake of breath as she went to say something. Though you quickly cut her off, not with your words but with your tears as they began to fall freely upon hearing your friend pick up the phone.
That is how you found yourself here, with Robin laying on her stomach on your bed while you laid on the floor looking up at your ceiling. You had told Robin all about what had happened between you and Eddie at his trailer that day weeks ago, you had also told her about what you saw at school today. The emotions that you had shoved down for so long coming to the surface and staining your cheeks as the tears rolled down your face.
“Yeah, and we see how well that worked out.” You mumbled, running a hand down your face. Frustration and exhaustion are beginning to take over. Making your head heavy; you could lay on here all night.
“It’s not that bad, he’s still your friend. I’m sure he’ll talk to you if you give him the chance.”
At Robin’s words you pushed yourself up on your elbows. You knew she didn’t mean anything by it, only trying to help in the only way she felt she could. It admittedly frustrated you but you would never take it out on Robin, not when she’s been the only constant since your blow up with Eddie.
“I would love to try, but he didn’t try to talk to me that day. I doubt he’d talk to me about it now.”
Robin was silent for a moment. You could tell that she was contemplating something. Which always terrified you, her plans had a tendency to backfire even when she had different intentions. But you let her sit in quiet contemplation for a moment. Simply watching as she thought things over, wishing that you could peek inside her head sometimes. Though you didn't have to wait long to get a glimpse inside.
Robin jumped up from your bed, and joined you on the floor. Her eyes shining with a look you had come to call her “By golly I’ve got it” look. Robin grabbed your shoulders and pulled you closer to her, nearly making your noses touch. It was startling to you though it did bring a small smile to your face to see her theatrics.
“You said Henderson told you they’re going to prom together?”
You nodded, no words coming out of your mouth as close as Robin was you were.
“Then you go to prom. Take Steve, dress like you own the fucking place and make him eat it.”
A smile grew on Robin’s face as she finished telling you her idea. But you grew skeptical. It was a plan, you could give her that, and yeah it wasn’t a terrible plan. But you didn’t want to make him jealous. That never ended up the way it did in the movies. One of you would still end up hurt in the end, and with your luck lately you’d put money on it coming back to bite you in the ass.
However, getting out of the house, dressing in a killer dress and being able to party with some of your other friends DID sound pretty nice. It sounded like the perfect opportunity to get your mind off of the guy that was plaguing it.
“I’ll go to prom,” Robin squealed, excited that you were going with her plan. “However, I’m not doing it to make Eddie jealous. I just want a fun night with you and Steve. If Eddie doesn’t want to talk to me then so be it. I can have fun on my own.”
Tumblr media
Across town Eddie was sitting in his own bedroom, staring at the tux hung up on his closet door. A red tie hung from the hanger, perfectly matching the shade of red that made up Chrissy’s dress. It had taken three hours at the mall for the pair to find. Chrissy made it a point that they needed to match perfectly, dragging Eddie into a plethora of stores before finding it.
Overall the day hadn’t been bad, Eddie had enjoyed the time he and Chirssy had spent together. But he felt like something was missing. Like, he could laugh with Chirssy but he found himself missing the way he would laugh with you; the full bellied, leave you in stitches type of laughter. He enjoyed movie nights with Chrissy, relishing in the way he could pull her close and let his hands wander. But he found himself missing the horror movies the two of you would watch together and the junk food and marijuana you would consume. Oftentimes the night would end with the two of you cuddling close, much like he and Chrissy would. He loved having Chrissy at Hellfire meeting and introducing her to the complexities of the game. But damn, he missed being able to play with you and watch as you figured out each of his traps and set ups. He thought it was nice to have a girlfriend, especially one like Chrissy who he had mooned over for years. But he missed being able to talk to his best friend about anything and everything.
It took a second as his mind wandered off. But realization dawned on Eddie.
He missed you. He missed his best friend. And he needed to fix it.

🧚 🧚🏽‍♀️ 🧚‍♂️
i would love to hear about this fairy fic 🖤
It's only 700 words or so. I had this idea that Eddie, after everything that happened, moved to the city. But his time in the Upside Down left him magically marked. This gets the attention of the secret fairy living in his apartment block.
It's part magic realism (you know me) and part some weird size kink bullshit hehe.
I have a lot of thoughts and ideas, but haven't really decided how thw story is going to go. However, I am happy to share what I have! Unedited and very likely to change.
Love youuuuuuuuuuu.
Eddie Munson tried to not think of leaving Hawkins as running away. He had sworn to himself, standing against a tornado of demobats, that he was never going to do that again. No, Eddie would be brave in the face of danger. There was no battle he couldn’t fight. No enemy to send him cowering in the corner. But Hawkins… Hawkins wasn’t just any monster.
Hawkins had thousands of eyes, all peering at Eddie whenever he ventured further than the trailer. Her mouth could speak in an endless number of different voices, all whispering about cults and murder and Chrissy Cunningham’s body. She had power too, Hawkins, power enough to stop Eddie from getting work after he graduated from his hospital bed. She had him frozen in time and place.
Eddie didn’t know how many more days of fight he had in him, but a kind twist of fate offered Eddie an escape plan in the form of his sweet friend Jeff. A plan in which Eddie could play the hero, rather than the deserter.
“I don’t know what I’m gonna do, man!” Jeff paced back in forth in front of Eddie. “Everything was all set up but I can’t pay rent on my own. My dad says to put a notice in the paper but even that costs money… And I don’t want to live with a stranger! What if they’re like… an axe murderer!”
It was refreshing to hear about someone’s normal problems. It seemed a lot easier than working out how to communicate cross-dimensionally or where the hell Nancy Wheeler’s missing guns went.
“I’m sorry, dude,” Jeff apologised. “I shouldn’t complain to you,”
“Why?” Eddie fished.
Jeff hesitated. “Well… You know…”
“Because I was accused of murder, attacked by wild dogs, and almost killed in an earthquake?” Eddie was obviously being sarcastic, but it still made Jeff wince.
“…Yes?”
Eddie laughed, shocked that people had really bought ‘attacked by wild dogs’ … but they needed some sort of cover story for the bite marks. Despite his best efforts, Eddie couldn’t even make himself the hero of that adventure. Goddamn Steve Harrington had saved him from the rabid pack, earning himself some matching battle wounds.
“It’s cool,” Eddie reassured his friend.
The pair sat and watched whatever shit was on television for a little while longer. When the idea popped into Eddie’s head, he sat up straight from his lounging position, moving quickly enough to startle Jeff.
“Jesus!”
“I have an idea,” Eddie announced. “What if I come with you? Take the room? Nobody knows me there. I can get a job. Actually leave the fucking house. You don’t have to live with stranger. We can still jam… It’s a good idea, right?”
“You really want to move to Chicago?”
“I mean… S’not like I have grand plans in Hawkins. This town fucking hates me… I’d miss Wayne but… Yeah… Yeah, I wanna move to Chicago… If you’ll have me.” Eddie grinned at his friend, the wide smile full of fun that Jeff hadn’t really seen since before everything went down.
“Eddie Munson. My hero.”
It was a dark magic. It was cold. Lonely. And there was only a whisper of it, thankfully, but it was there. From your window, you watched him unload a U-Haul onto the sidewalk. A group of people were moving boxes and furniture into the building; the noise followed them to the second floor, to the vacant apartment across from yours.
The magic was only coming from him. All his friends were unremarkable, just a mismatched crew of boisterous boys. None were scarred like him either. Even from your window, you could see the pink ripples of scar tissue on his face, neck, and arms. The war must have been recent, you decided, the pink fresh and his movements stunted by discomfort and pain.
“Eddie, dude, you’re not meant to be lifting the heavy ones,” his friend yelled, coming to take the box away from him.
“I’m fine,”
“Whatever. I don’t wanna scoop ya guts up when you pop a fuckin’ stitch, man.” The imagery was strong and it forced a smile on your lips. He was loved, the boy with the scars, despite the dark magic.
It only took Eddie a week to realise something was happening.

Keeping warm
Eddie Munson x female reader.
Summary: Eddie and you have to cuddle to stay warm during a snowstorm due to the heater breaking.
Italic is inner thoughts
Author notes: I live in Ohio and it’s been snowing so much lately, while watching the snow fall this idea popped into my head. I hope you enjoy :) Also if you ever wanted to play with Eddie’s hair this is for you ;)
You and Eddie have just started dating. Well, it’s been two months and those two months have been magical. Eddie loved you, and you loved him. Neither have said those specific words just yet but you both knew. Eddie was over the moon that you two got together, it still feels like a dream to him honestly he never thought you would agree to a date let alone a relationship but here you two are. And he was over the moon that Wayne loved you too. You were so persistent on meeting his uncle and he was nervous to introduce the two of you but he had no reason to be worried. That night might forever be one of his favorite memories. You wanted to make dinner for everyone and Wayne was able to convenience his boss to let him have the night off. You made an amazing dinner and that was the first gold star that you earned from Wayne. The second was when you took care of Eddie and him that night, you made the food, made the plates, and refused any help from Wayne. Usually, he would hate to have someone do all the work but you were so sweet but determined to have the two men relax and that was what he likes about you. You know what you want but you go about it in a sweet way, which usually helps you get what you want.
Tonight was supposed to be date night but Eddie tried to cancel due to his van breaking down. “Babe I can’t pick you up for tonight, I’m so sorry I know we’ve been planning this forever but my van broke down and I can’t fix it until tomorrow afternoon. But I swear I’ll make it up to you.” Now you know he didn’t do this on purpose but you were still very disappointed. So you made a plan. You got your best friend to drive you to the trailer park and you showed up with pizza and Eddie’s favorite snacks. You could tell on the phone that he was having a hard day and there was no way you were going to leave him by himself when he wasn’t having a good day.
You slipped through the door to the trailer, surprising Eddie. There he was on the couch, shocked to see you with your arms full of food and goodies. “Baby? What are you doing here? Shit, let me help you” Eddie takes the food from your arms and sits it all on the counter. “I know I should’ve called but you seemed so upset on the phone and I really wanted to see you so I got a ride and picked some stuff up for a date night in.” Hearing this makes Eddie realize how much he really does love you. “I am sorry that my van decided to ditch us on date night but I’m so happy to see you” Eddie leans in and kisses you softly. Nothing but love is felt through the soft touch of their lips.
Pulling away the two of them just look each other in the eyes for a moment. Contemplating about how amazing the other person is. Eddie softly grips your hand and pulls you to the couch. There was a movie already on the small television but neither could bring themselves to care about it. Eddie starts to tell you about his day and you just listen to everything he has to say while playing with his hair. Eddie feels himself relax even more within your touch.
All of the sudden a weird and awfully loud noise breaks through the trailer. Scaring the both of you, Eddie leaps off the couch and is already in a fighting stance. “What the hell was that?” Then you feel a coolness hit her. When did it get so cold in here?
Feeling the cold himself  Eddie groans. “Of course, the heater decides to break on the day it starts to snow.” Just from the look on Eddie’s face, you can see that all the tension that just left his body came right back in.  “Aw honey, it’s okay! I’m sure it’s an easy fix.” you go over to the heater and it is not an easy fix. But you are determined to make the end of the day good for Eddie. “So the heater is definitely broken but it’s okay.” Y/N’s voice echoes through the trailer but she is no longer by the heater. Eddie doesn’t know how he lost her but he has. Where the hell did she go?
You come back to the living room with her arms full of blankets, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and fuzzy socks. “Here you change into some of the clothes while I go put the blankets into the dryer.” Eddie feels his heart melt all over again. This girl is going to be the death of me.
When you come back into the living room and see Eddie dressed in a black hoodie, a pair of warmer black sweats, and bright pink fuzzy socks with hearts all over them. You can’t help but giggle at the sight in front of her and she quickly snaps a picture of him with their polaroid camera. Eddie gives her a funny look “What? You told me to change into warmer clothes” All you can do is shake your head and go to plop all the blankets onto the couch. “I’m going to change and heat the pizza back up, you get comfy and find us something to watch baby” kissing his cheek you disappear into his bedroom to change into some of his clothes. Emerging from the back of the trailer you reappear in front of Eddie with the pizza and his heart stops. “ I think I just died. There’s an angel in front of me babe. What do I do?” Laughing at Eddie’s dramatics all you do is kiss him and fall into his lap. “What did you decide to watch?”  “Well, I chose the classic (your favorite movie/show)” Humming softly and playing with one of his curls “that sounds great babe.”
Today wasn’t the best day for Eddie, but you made sure it was a good night, and damn did you succeed.
Tumblr media
Bonus: After finishing almost the entire pizza between the two of you, Eddie ended up falling asleep laying on your chest with you playing with his hair and kissing his forehead you allow yourself to doze off as well and this is how Wayne found the two of you when he is let off work early due to the snow storm. Smiling softly at the sight in front of him, Wayne goes and grabs your polaroid and snaps a photo for you two to see when you get up.
If you enjoyed please consider liking, commenting, and reblogging it means the world! And Request are always open <3

Aizo: Hi Julieta! I’m Aizo!
Yujiro: Hello Julieta, I’m Yujiro.
Aizo: Today, the two of us, LIPxLIP, are on a trip.
Yujiro: We’ve come to Izumo as a reward for completing our album.
Aizo: We’ll be sharing a little glimpse of today’s trip with you guys, so enjoy!
Yujiro: We’ve been here since yesterday, but let’s start off with our wake up call!
Aizo: You’re showing them that?!
Tumblr media
Yujiro: Good morning, everyone. It’s 6am. It’s still too early to have breakfast, but I’m going to show you Aizo’s sleeping face.
Yujiro: He sure is asleep, hm?
Yujiro: He’s drooling.
Yujiro: Aizo, you’ll be late. You’ll be late, you know?
Aizo: Eh? What?
Yujiro: It’s already 9 o’clock, hurry! Get up!
Aizo: Ah? It’s 9?
Yujiro: You’ll be late for work!
Aizo: Why’re you filming me?! You’re lying for sure! Stop it!
Yujiro: [laughs] And that, Julieta, was Aizo’s sleeping face!
Tumblr media
Aizo: And here we are at the breakfast table. We’re about to have our breakfast.
Yujiro: Aizo has woken up too.
Aizo: Wow, Yujiro, you’re having Japanese food as expected, huh? Ooh, isn’t that Izumo Soba?
Yujiro: And you, Aizo, are having Western food as expected… Wait, what the heck? You’re having pasta first thing in the morning?
Aizo: I just felt like having it today. Even you feel like having Western food in the morning sometimes, don’t you?
Yujiro: I guess so. I wouldn’t eat pasta in the morning, though.
Aizo: I’m sure the Julieta watching this will be like “I just knew Yujiro’d be eating Japanese food and Aizo’d be having Western food”, huh?
Yujiro: Maybe they will. We do give off those impressions, don’t we? Just like how we’d have either coffee or cocoa respectively.
Aizo: I got it. Wanna change the impressions we give off by trading our breakfast meals?
Yujiro: I don’t wanna. I want to eat my soba.
Aizo: Yeah, yeah.
Yujiro: Julieta, which do you prefer? Western food? Japanese food? Tell us, okay?
Aizo: Yum!
Tumblr media
Aizo: We don’t usually shoot vids all by ourselves, huh?
Yujiro: Though you say “usually”, this is the first time we’ve done it, right? The staff always tag along with us.
Aizo: They plan all kinds of programmes for us too, right? Yeah. So, where do we go now?
Yujiro: Ehh, I don’t know. You decide, Aizo.
Aizo: Me? You decide, Yujiro. I dunno where to go either.
Yujiro: You decide, Aizo.
Aizo: Eh?! You’re kidding! Hmm… I can’t think of anything.
Yujiro: Planning ahead sure is important, isn’t it?
Aizo: Yeah. Let’s just walk around for now.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Yujiro: And so, we’re now at the footbaths!
Aizo: Phew, it’s hot in here!
Yujiro: We came here too last time, didn’t we?
Aizo: Yeah, back during our live tour, right?
Yujiro: Oh right, Aizo, how do you feel about the release of our second album?
Aizo: Of course I’m happy ‘bout it. I mean, releasing even just one album’s already pretty amazing.
Yujiro: Yup. The fact that we’re able to release a second album is all thanks to our Julieta, right?
Aizo: Yeah. We’ve gotta try even harder to meet their expectations, huh? How do you feel about the album, Yujiro?
Yujiro: I guess I feel differently about it than I did about our first album.
Aizo: Eh? How so?
Yujiro: I feel as though I wouldn’t have been able to do it alone. It’s all thanks to the support and expectations of our Julieta that we’re able to stand on stage. And, as that stage grows bigger and bigger, I get the feeling that I wouldn’t have been able to respond to the size of the stage all by myself.
Aizo: Yeah, I feel the same way. I’ve had thoughts like “Why are there 2 guys in LIPxLIP? I could do it by myself.” before. But this has made me realise once again that going at it alone would just mean halving our power.
Yujiro: We’re able to develop better together as a pair than we would have on our own. I'd say that we’re indispensable to each other for sure.
Aizo: Yeah, we are. Plus, things would sure get boring without a rival around, huh?
Yujiro: Yup. Aizo, the friendly rivalry between you and me… Wait a sec! This is going to be a bonus video! Isn’t this conversation getting embarrassing?!
Aizo: Yeah, it is. But isn’t it fine for us to talk about our true feelings when the two of us are on a trip together?
Yujiro: I guess so. We’re alone on this trip together, after all.
Aizo: Yeah. Aight then, let’s end this off with a word of thanks to our Julieta.
Yujiro: Thank you for getting our second album, Julieta.
Aizo: Thanks, Julieta.
Yujiro: This album is packed with our thoughts and feelings. It'll make us happy if you listen to it many times over.
Aizo: You’ll listen to it, won’t ya? We’re going to keep growing from here on out, so follow our progress, yeah?
Yujiro: Follow us, okay?
Aizo: Till we meet again, Julieta!
Yujiro: Bye bye Julieta. See you around.
Aizo: See ya!
