In a thrilling revelation, "Star Wars" has just unleashed news of an upcoming blockbuster titled "The Mandalorian & Grogu," directed by the visionary Jon Favreau! Brace yourselves for this electrifying development that catapults the cherished characters from Disney+'s "The Mandalorian" onto the grandeur of the silver screen. Set to kick off production later this year, the film not only signifies a monumental leap into the cinematic universe but also marks an exhilarating expansion of the awe-inspiring "Mando"-verse crafted by the maestro Favreau.
Let's rewind a bit and bask in the excitement! "The Mandalorian," initially a groundbreaking Disney+ series, thrusts us into the riveting escapades of a helmet-clad bounty hunter portrayed by the charismatic Pedro Pascal. At the heart of the narrative lies his noble quest to safeguard the utterly adorable and enigmatic alien named Grogu, fondly referred to as Baby Yoda by an adoring fan base. While the exact placement of this impending cinematic masterpiece within the live-action series timeline remains a tantalizing mystery, the sheer prospect of witnessing the Mandalorian and his pint-sized apprentice Grogu on the colossal canvas has sparked an eruption of exhilaration among fans!
And who better to helm this cinematic voyage than the genius himself, Jon Favreau! Overflowing with enthusiasm, Favreau exclaims, "I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting."
Prepare for lightspeed excitement as "The Mandalorian & Grogu" emerges as the first major "Star Wars" film in the works since the epic conclusion of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" in 2019. After the resounding success of the original nine-chapter saga, subsequent planned installments never materialized, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. In the interim, "Star Wars" took a quantum leap into the realm of Disney+ with triumphant series like "The Book of Boba Fett," "Ahsoka," and the much-anticipated "Skeleton Crew."
Fueling this cinematic juggernaut are the creative powerhouses Jon Favreau, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and the mastermind behind "Ahsoka," Dave Filoni. As they shepherd this monumental project, Filoni, a true luminary in the "Star Wars" universe, will also lend his creative prowess to the second season of "Ahsoka." Kathleen Kennedy lauds the dynamic duo, stating, "Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen."
Hold onto your lightsabers, as the upcoming Lucasfilm feature-length development slate promises a dazzling array of "Star Wars" films directed by the likes of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and the unparalleled Dave Filoni. The anticipatory fervor for these cinematic gems is palpable, given the stratospheric success of "The Mandalorian" and the vast storytelling potential embedded in the ever-expanding "Star Wars" universe.
As "Star Wars" embarks on its multimedia odyssey, Disney has strategically positioned untitled "Star Wars" movies for May 22, 2026, December 18, 2026, and December 17, 2027. While specific details are shrouded in secrecy, the mere prospect of these cinematic adventures has fans counting down the moments in feverish anticipation.
But that's not all! In an enthralling parallel revelation, Lucasfilm drops the bombshell of the ongoing development of "Ahsoka" Season 2, courtesy of the creative genius Dave Filoni. This revelation, coupled with the announcement of "The Mandalorian & Grogu," underscores Filoni's pivotal role in the ever-expanding "Star Wars" universe. Season 1 of "Ahsoka," which concluded on October 3, thrust Rosario Dawson into the limelight as the iconic Jedi on a galaxy-saving mission. Filoni, with his multifaceted contributions to "The Mandalorian," "The Book of Boba Fett," and "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," remains an indomitable force propelling the franchise into unparalleled success.
The intricate narrative tapestry woven in "Ahsoka" Season 1 introduced a host of new characters, delving into the post-Galactic Empire era and seamlessly intertwining with the broader "Star Wars" narrative. With the official confirmation of Season 2, fans can brace themselves for an encore of riveting adventures and earth-shattering revelations in the continuing saga of the beloved Ahsoka Tano.
Hold onto your helmets, fellow enthusiasts, as the "Star Wars" universe embarks on an unprecedented expansion across various mediums, with Disney+ at the forefront. The pièce de résistance? Filoni's directorial prowess in a feature film that promises to elegantly tie up the loose ends of his TV series' storylines. The future of "Star Wars" is a tantalizing blend of cinematic spectacles and episodic wonders, ensuring an exhilarating journey for fans worldwide! May the Force be with us all!

Oranssi Pazuzu - Mestarin Kynsi
Tumblr media
Along with the entirety of fellow metal experimentalists Dark Buddha Rising, Oranssi Pazuzu in their entirety as well contributed to one of my favorite records of last year under the shared moniker of Waste of Space Orchestra. Their album, Syntheosis, was a hypnotic, surreal levitation through synth-heavy metallic psychedelia that Oranssi Pazuzu had been working more and more into their sound, which was at a height on their 2016 effort, Värähtelijä. After the release of its successor here though, not only the synthesizer boldness on Värähtelijä, but the band’s entire sound and artistic advancement as well pale in comparison to what they’ve done with Mestarin Kynsi.
Oranssi Pazuzu have been about this very sound their entire career, from their already rather impressive 2009 debut, Muukalainen puhuu, to this year’s effort. Even though they started strong, the band have been pushing themselves as best as they can to reinforce their sound, making little improvements from one album to the next throughout the past decade, in what has seemed like painstakingly slow, mild progress along a relatively high plateau, until now.
Mestarin Kynsi goes all in on the synths even more than two band’s worth of synthesizers did on last year’s Syntheosis did, but it’s not about simply upping a single element of Oranssi Pazuzu’s sound, but rather how the band uses that to truly evolve their sound beyond just being more synthy. The band’s fifth full-length is all about taking their captivatingly psychedelic black metal’s tangible, yet other-worldly horror to a whole new level for them and for black metal. The band manages to find this sweet spot of ideal balance between integrating so many synthetic elements and mutating traditional black metal elements while never losing that vital metallic realness and intensity in their music. No matter how many special effects the band brings in, the undivided focus is on the substantive mastery with which the band wields their massive sonic arsenal.
While most of the spook and psychedelia comes from the incredible creativity with which the synths are weaved into the dynamic metallic backdrop, the foundation that the band’s brilliance with manipulating those traditional metallic elements into a monstrous vehicle for the synths to amplify the various cerebral aspects of their music should not be left unpraised. While the instrumental pieces are rarely ever super flashy in isolation, the way they all work together in such harmony in a way that feels as though they arent even coming from a band with individual members but rather a superconsciousness where all the artists share and channel their creative energy through a single mind truly transcends the tightness of the vast majority of bands, who are often just incapable of entirely preventing everyone’s ego from leaking out just a little. With Oranssi Pazuzu in this album, it’s, again, like it’s all one mind and the only ego is the music itself. Before I get further into the kind of subjective abstraction this album seems to love encouraging me to dive headfirst into, I’ll get into the general technical aspects of it all.
First of all, the mixing of all the ingredients going into this album, for all sheer size of the sound being captured here, is a freaking feat of excellence and whoever mixed this thing deserves to take a bow. It’s not all crisp and clear the whole way through like some polished up techdeath record, but every phase in and out of the forefront and background of the mix is timely and constructive to the continuously sprawling movements of the compositions across the album. The drums really act as the album’s heartbeat in a way that few album’s drum sections can truly be described, pumping faster through the panic-inducing moments and maintaining a steady hypercardia through the calmer, yet still unsafe moments in the album. The guitars and bass provide the foundational aspects of the reasoning behind whatever is raising the album’s blood pressure, tastefully distorted and even maxed the hell out when the moment calls for it, and deceptively entrancing in their dark serenity of their hypnotically soothing dissonance when the tension needs to be built, never flashy or distracting, always committed to the greater good of the music of the album as a whole rather than any one instrumentalist’s turn for some time in the spotlight. And speaking of the spotlight, the part of the music that is usually prone to hogging it is as selfless and complimentary on this album as the rest of the band. The demonically liturgical, gravelly snarled vocals aren’t really flashy by any means either, but that’s not to say that the haunting hypnosis of the vocals is without character. Indeed, the vocals may be not be shooting for technical pizazz, but vocalist Jun-His really is playing a voice on the album and not just vocals behind a microphone. The vocal performances across the album (including all the effects used to enhance and accent then) really work beyond just the musical and extend into the theatrical, the voice of the album really coming from an otherworldly being all its own when the album is on.
Like I said, Oranssi Pazuzu has been melting and remolding black metal to do their bidding for over a decade, and the band continues to reform the genre much in ways that bands like Neurosis so vividly warps sludge and post-metal into something all their own and how Swans’ most recent incarnations have stretched out and apocalyptified the basic elements of rock music to a possibly maximal extreme. I mention that because I really am reminded so heavily of the genius of Swans and Neurosis with the way Oranssi Pazuzu approaches black metal in such an unrecognizable, yet unmistakable way on Mestarin Kynsi.
The creepy synth motif that traces through the eerie psychedelic guitars of the opening track, “Ilmestys” are brilliant and immediately mood-setting alone, but the freakish accents that also run through the song just heighten the tension even more, making the burst into the warped, but awe-inspiring metallic crescendo near the song’s end such a fulfilling payoff. It’s a tactfully tempered, brilliantly accented, and expertly strategically arranged, cinematic opening to an album that subsequently continues to build on that cinematic grandiosity set up by its opening track in a further display of specialty mastery by its progenating artists.
Taking a slightly more patient approach in the aftermath of the opener, the second track, “Tyhjyyden sakramentti” is a bit more of a gradual build through several sections of gradually thickening metallic psychedelia that takes all sorts of twists and turns through spooky and trippy swirls of forcefully mesmerizing guitar noise. The band integrates all sorts of effects on the guitars with great intuition on how to . The song eventually reaches a simple, straightforward guitar riff for a few seconds, which is very soon sucked into a synthy reverberation that sounds like it takes a quick breath of fresh, sober reality and immediately plunges it back into the synesthetic nightmare of shimmering, yet discomforting ambiance the song has so expertly conjured up.
The longest song on the album, “Uusi teknokratia”, winds its way through these fuzzed and hazed out Sabbathian riffs and super creepy hyperventilating (yet uncannily calm) vocal hums and haunting echoes of black metal screams. Similarly hypertension-inducing, dark-night, full-moon ritualistic guitar atmospherics of a wide variety of speeds, timbres join in in cementing the frightful visions that the song is conjuring. The plinky synths and anxiety-inducing uncanny calmness of the soft vocals really give this song such an immersive sense of under-the-surface panic and uneasiness during the buildup to the thicker body portions of the composition, which make great use of the tension that’s built up, both giving the release of that tension a fitting of the type of horror that the tension foreshadows and bringing the energy back down in a manner that allows the tension to build up again for another gratifying payoff rather than being completely expended, including the dark ambient drone that rounds out the track to set up the unease for the next one.
It’s a foreboding string motif, eventually treated with some warped/slowed-record pitch distortion, that opens the album’s fourth track, “Oikiamielisten sali”. After this arguably over-extended intro, the song then bursts through with these bright synth lines and electronically fuzzy guitar lines that eventually ramp up to yet another level of entrancing, distorted guitar ether that manage to encapsulate a feeling of out-of-body dread amid some disorienting other-worldly storm, which is even more terrifyingly transcendent in its lengthy, multi-phased climactic finish that more than makes up for the length of the intro it took to get there. The ethereal first half of the climax and the pulsing pounding of the drums underneath the instruments’ power-down/fade-out on the second half are just so godly, and they lead seamlessly into the darkest moment of the album.
“Kuulen ääniä maan alta” kicks off with a low-register electronic drone over a driving mid-paced beat and some twisted horn samples that immediately turn the fearfully heavenly mood from the preceding track sour (in a great way). Far more fierce and menacing than anything else on the track list, “Kuulen ääniä maan alta” takes an entirely unique approach to the concept of heaviness, guitar distortion and crashing drums being merely a portion of the grand orchestra of haunting sounds on display.
The album ends with a real boom with the song “Taivan Portii”, which instantly kicks off with a flurry of distorted guitars, warped and spirit-summoning synths, and driving blasts of drumming that all mount into this huge, gargantuan wave of sound that just swirls around and back and forth in a final expulsion of unhidden, unrestrained psychedelic black metal power, like a coercive malevolent deity that has finally revealed its true form and power and whose breath-stealing display prompts only simple terrified admiration in helpless, accepted anticipation of its exercise.
This album is so immersive in the disfigured world it brings to life, so accomplished in the style the band have been honing from the beginning of their career, and so impressively composed and well-directed, it’s honestly hard to stop talking about and hard to avoid in exchange for listening to something else, it’s like I’ve been hypnotized into repeatedly returning to its best inhuman seance. Or maybe I’m just addicted to a fucking great album. It is a truly singular display of a band creating something so much bigger than themselves on a sonic level. I don’t understand a word on it, but I can’t get over this album, and I can’t imagine how much more I would have to pour into this review if I were to try to find and translate the lyrics. But either way, this thing is an artistic monolith and a real declaration of the band’s importance. I’ve been listening to it over and over again, thinking admittedly way more than I really should about how to score this thing, and every time I listen to it and analyze for flaws I just end up loving it more for new reasons as it unfolds and unfolds over and over. You could argue that the length of the intro to “Oikiamielisten sali” is an imperfection, but I’m not going to fixate on a lengthy spacy intro on a psychedelic album as a flaw like a slightly long nose hair on a beautiful woman. To me, I can justify calling this thing imperfect, barely, but it’s not worth it. I believe in love. To me, Mestarin Kynsi is a...

21 + 15 + 8!
asdfghjkl rose thank you for asking ♥️ this ended up coming out incredibly long, so i apologize in advance!
8) where do you take your inspiration from?
surprising! mostly from visual media, actually. graphics, art, moodboards, films, tv series, that kind of stuff. occasionally, music, and even more rarely, written media (fics, books, poems, similar). that’s for when i’m starting to get ideas. when i already have something written or ideas developed a bit more, then i have a moodboard on pinterest and a playlist on spotify, or i watch something that has the same mood/theme as the thing i’m writing.
15) if you write oc’s, how do you decide on their names?
i don’t usually write oc’s for fics, but i do them for my original stuff. the names depend on the characters’ background and location, but they all have a name that either sounds specific to their character or who they’re supposed to be, or the meaning is very connected.
in other cases, most of the time, i just go ‘woah this sounds cool’ or sometimes i build a whole character because of their name and subsequently the whole story.
21  tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? what is it about them that you admire?
i love this question!! let me give my favourite fic writers a shoutout, even though i’m probably missing some too!! it’s really long but honestly these people worked hard and they really deserve it
@grumpybell‘s ideas are absolutely brilliant. i’m a huge fan. the stories themselves, the plots would be enough for me to have a whole paragraph about, but for me, the characters are where it’s at. well-developed, very true to the canon but also to the universe the fic is set in, but also very well-rounded and overall realistic. the fics just flow really nice, honestly, and i could read them for eternity.
fic shoutout: oh darling, here’s hoping god i remember reading this red riding hood au and just... falling in love. i did. i fell in love with bellamy as the wolf and clarke’s desperation to save him, and the new take on the fairy tale, it was just absolute perfection. i keep coming to it every once in a while, honestly. it’s just magic.
@asroarke is one of those people who are just integrated into a fandom’s fanfiction. imagining t100 fanfiction with asroarke is like... imagining the sky without the stars. i think those fics were the first ones i read when i joined the fandom, and i remember one of the things i thought was how easy it was to read. everything flowed as if there was no effort needed, as if the words have always been there, just plucked and placed on a blank document. and the consistency, honestly, damn. these fics are better than probably more than half of published stuff i’ve read.
fic shoutout: drag me down. look there’s a pattern here and it’s the mythical/legends/fairy tale aus. i present you with a retelling of little mermaid in the most beautiful, soul-wrenching way. i waited every single chapter for when i came out. i read it as soon as i saw it came out, even if i was in the middle of grabbing coffee with a friend. honestly everything by asroarke is absolutely fantastic.
@blvke-bellamy okay look. when i saw may is just 15 i nearly fell off my chair. i’d kill to have that talent at 15. i would. look, i keep saying look, because i’m shook. but honestly, may’s characterization is brilliant. she took my faves from the 100 and managed to insert them into a different universe, and they feel so much like the original characters and not at all. the dynamics between them are so raw and so pure and so believable i cried at one particular scene in her fic. or it might be two scenes. and look, this is impressive on its own, and then knowing she’s just 15...god.
fic shoutout: step into the sun is a bellarke tangled au and honestly. i’m a slut for tangled. it’s so damn good. and this fic?? inspired by tangled?? absolutely brilliant. marvelous. 11/10. brought my fish to life. and honestly murphy is my favourite in the fic, literally one of my favourite portrayals of him in every fic i’ve ever read. i binged this. i lost sleep over this. no ragrets.
@pawprinterfanfic (i’m biased but. in top 3 fic writers ever. and i’ve been in a lot of popular fandoms.) paw manages to take a universe and make it hers. paw manages to create a universe out of nothing and make it feel more realistic than my own life. and honestly, i am reading her hunger games au right now and it’s amazing, but the best part is that i’m also reading the harry potter au which is even better and although both are masterpieces, i can see the improvement. the development of the characters, the amount of effort in planning and mapping things out, it’s marvellous. her fics just speak to me on a different level, it feels as if i’m experiencing them myself rather than reading them, and what i’m mostly in awe of is how immersed i am in those fics, especially the newer ones. i feel like it’s a rare skill to have.
fic shoutout: starry eyes and galaxy minds (we’ll be dancing on the clouds at night) which is a spider-man au, and honestly, i cried. it’s beautiful. it’s a masterpiece. but so is literally every single one of paw’s stories, so it was a really difficult choice. the harry potter one? j k rowling wishes she wrote it.
skai_heda (i don’t know their tumblr please someone help me find it). where do i begin. honestly. when i started reading the fic i put below, i was mesmerised by the writing style. it was partly in second pov which i’d usually refuse to read, but this writing style is something that belongs to gods. the characterization is amazing, it manages to fix some of the stuff in canon without actually changing it. everything just comes together naturally, and i always feel so satisfied when reading their fics. plus, the writing style again, especially in the fic below, is flawless. some people can create magic with their words, and i’m convinced i’ve just found one.
fic shoutout: everything that comes after deserves so much!! more!! attention!!! i remember reading the first two chapters and just being like...wooow. i was starstruck. i left a long ass comment. it’s so unique and so beautiful. it’s the only fic on this list written in the canon universe, and it’s one of my favourites i’ve ever read about the canon universe. it hurts. it makes you cry, and ache, and understand, and smack your head because you just want people to be happy. if i could pocket the way this fic made me feel, i would always keep it with me. (a little frustration, but a whole lotta love.)
give me a number and i’ll answer questions about writing fanfiction
just in case you’d like to see the same questions answered for non-fanfiction/non-fanfiction influence, see below!
15) if you write oc’s, how do you decide on their names?
specific example of mentioned above - a wip about teenagers who come from a rich side of town and a poor side. there’s posh names, like cedric, declan, byron and gregory, for people who are supposed to represent the posh, stuck-up class; hadley, tessa, abigail, kate for privileged people who are the ‘good guys’; and luca, oliver, han, freddie, who are from the poor side. it’s very classist so it was very important that the names represent the characters. usually, i go for the “vibe” of the name over the meaning, to be honest.
21  tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? what is it about them that you admire?
i love this question!!
fiction: maggie stiefvater, because her raven cycle series genuinely feels like magic when i read it. the characters are brilliant. erin morgenstern, who wrote the night circus, because that novel also feels like magic. donna tart’s the secret history feels as if you’re reading a secret and the storytelling sort of reminds me of f. scott fitzgerald’s the great gatsby in a way i can’t really describe. she creates a beautiful, magnificent atmosphere and you know what the characters are doing is wrong, but you completely understand them and it makes me, as a reader, question my own moral standards. madeline miller’s the song of achilles is a beautifully written masterpiece that made me fall in love with mythology, legends and history all over again. the way she develops the characters and retells the story i’ve heard a million times is so poetic and beautiful it just resonates with me on a different level. and finally, leigh bardugo with her six of crows series that again, makes me question my morals, but shows the friendship and loyalty between people in a beautiful way. it also shows a romance that i think is one of best written i’ve read, up there for me romances from the novels/series i’ve already mentioned.
there’s a pattern - storytelling and character-building that feels almost otherworldly, very focused on emotions and character development. basically, stories that you feel like as if they were made into films without proper, detailed development, wouldn’t translate well enough to bring the world to the screen. and romances incredibly well-developed over time, that go beyond just being romances and actually show a beautiful connection.
special mention of these directors, as they have a huge influence on my writing: christopher nolan, john krasinski, quentin tarantino, m night shyamalan, steven knight, guillermo del toro, alfred hitchcock, for their storytelling and character building. also, some of these are for the suspense that seems to come naturally. i know most of these are very popular directors, but they’re popular for a reason. i could literally write an essay on each of these people, honestly. my writing is very inspired by motion pictures, i most often look up to how these directors approached some things that i have in my writing, especially themes. (this could literally be a whole essay on its own)

Tampa Bay Lightning - Detroit Red Wings
The Lightning head to Detroit in the wake of winning out and about in Boston yesterday. The group should battle a genuine aftereffect impact in the event that they need abstain from dropping focuses against the most noticeably awful group in the NHL. In almost every manner, this is a great snare game.
The Lightning beat probably the best group in the NHL in the Bruins the previous evening. The game, which was a potential future season finisher arrangement see, gained out of power as far as genuineness with different line fights. Consuming that kind of physical and enthusiastic vitality will unavoidably prompt an adrenaline dump after the game.
To aggravate the looming headache, the Red Wings are horrendous. It is hard to discover inspiration against such a powerless rival on an ordinary day. In any case, on a day quickly following what occurred in Boston? It appears to be practically sure that the Lightning will battle to find a workable pace game speed today around evening time. What's more, for no reason in particular, the time changed the previous evening meaning the group's typical routine will probably be disturbed.
Indeed, a great group should at present figure out how to win against an awful group regardless of the conditions. Be that as it may, as far as trap game notice signs, this one is setting off all the alerts. So prepare your headache fixes. We're going to require them. About Tampa Bay Lightning The Tampa Bay Lightning are an expert ice hockey group situated in Tampa, Florida. They contend in the National Hockey League (NHL) as an individual from the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The club has won one Stanley Cup title in their history, in 2003–04. The group is frequently alluded to as the Bolts, and the moniker was utilized on the previous third shirts. The Lightning plays home games in Amalie Arena in Tampa.
The proprietor of the Lightning is Jeffrey Vinik, while Julien BriseBois fills in as senior supervisor. The group is presently instructed by Jon Cooper, who has driven the group since 2013.
In the late 1980s, the NHL declared it would extend. Two adversary bunches from the Tampa Bay Area chose to offer for an establishment: a St. Petersburg-based gathering fronted by future Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes proprietors Peter Karmanos and Jim Rutherford, and a Tampa-based gathering fronted by two Hall of Famers—Phil Esposito and his sibling Tony. One of the Esposito gathering's key patrons, the Pritzker family, pulled out a couple of months before the offer, to be supplanted by a consortium of Japanese organizations headed by Kokusai Green, a fairway and resort administrator. On paper, it resembled the Karmanos/Rutherford bunch had the more steady offer; be that as it may, it needed to pay just $29 million preceding beginning play, while the Espositos were one of only a handful scarcely any gatherings ready to pay the alliance's $50 million development expense up front.[4] The Esposito gathering would win the extension establishment on December 6, 1990,[5] and name the group the Lightning, after Tampa Bay's status as the "Lightning Capital of North America."
In the wake of being granted the establishment, Phil Esposito introduced himself as president and head supervisor, while Tony became boss scout. Terry Crisp, who played for the Philadelphia Flyers when they won two Stanley Cups in the mid-1970s and instructed the Calgary Flames to a Stanley Cup in 1989, was tapped as the principal lead trainer. Phil Esposito additionally procured previous colleagues from the Boston Bruins of the 1970s, including previous linemate Wayne Cashman as an associate mentor and previous Bruin coach John "Cold" Forristal as the group's mentor. The debut group photograph has him flanked by Cashman and player Ken Hodge, Jr., child of his other Bruins' linemate.
The Lightning knocked some people's socks off in the pre-season when Manon Rheaume turned into the principal lady to play in a NHL game, which additionally made her the main lady to play in any of the significant expert North American games associations. She played for the Lightning against the St. Louis Blues, and halted seven of nine shots.[6][7]
The Lightning played their first ordinary season game on October 7, 1992 in Tampa's little 11,000-seat Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds. They stunned the meeting Chicago Blackhawks 7–3 with four objectives by little-known Chris Kontos. The group shot to the highest point of the Campbell Conference's Norris Division inside a month, behind Kontos' underlying torrid scoring pace and a breakout season by forward Brian Bradley. Be that as it may, it clasped under the strain of the absolute longest excursions in the NHL—their closest division rival, the Blues, were more than 1,000 miles away—and completed in last spot with a record of 23–54–7 for 53 focuses. This was, at that point, outstanding amongst other ever showings by a NHL development group. Bradley's 42 objectives gave Tampa Bay fans positive thinking for the following season; it would be a group record until the 2006–07 season.
The accompanying season saw the Lightning movement toward the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division, just as move into the Florida Suncoast Dome (a structure initially intended for baseball) in St. Petersburg, which was reconfigured for hockey and renamed the "ThunderDome."[8] The group obtained goaltender Daren Puppa, left wing objective scorer Petr Klima, and veteran forward Denis Savard. While Puppa's play brought about a noteworthy improvement in objectives permitted (from 332 to 251), Savard was long over the hill and Klima's scoring was counterbalanced by his guarded slips. The Lightning completed rearward in the Atlantic Division in 1993–94 with a record of 30–43–11 for 71 focuses. Another frustrating season followed in the lockout-abbreviated 1994–95 season with a record of 17–28–3 for 37 focuses. About  Detroit Red Wings The Detroit Red Wings are an expert ice hockey group situated in Detroit. They contend in the National Hockey League (NHL) as an individual from the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference,[3] and are one of the Original Six groups of the league.[4] Founded in 1926, the group was known as the Detroit Cougars until 1930. For the 1930–31 and 1931–32 seasons the group was known as the Detroit Falcons, and in 1932 changed their name to the Red Wings.[5]
Starting at 2020, the Red Wings have won the most Stanley Cup titles of any NHL establishment situated in the United States (11)[6] and are third generally speaking in complete Stanley Cup titles, behind the Montreal Canadiens (24) and Toronto Maple Leafs (13). The Wings played their home games at Joe Louis Arena from 1979 until 2017, subsequent to playing for a long time in Olympia Stadium. They moved into the new Little Caesars Arena starting with the 2017–18 season. The Red Wings are one of the most famous and fruitful establishments in the NHL; fans and sports analysts allude to the Detroit territory as "Hockeytown", which has been an enrolled trademark possessed by the establishment since 1996.[7]
Between the 1931–32 and 1965–66 seasons, the Red Wings missed the end of the season games just multiple times. Between the 1966–67 and 1982–83 seasons, the Red Wings made the end of the season games just multiple times. In any case, from there on, from 1983–84 to 2015–16, they made the end of the season games multiple times in 32 seasons, including 25-directly from 1990–91 to 2015–16 (not including the dropped 2004–05 season), in 2006 this turned into the longest dynamic dash of postseason appearances in all of North American elite athletics and completed tied for the third longest streak in NHL history. Since 1983–84, the Red Wings have counted six normal season in front of the pack completes and have won the Stanley Cup multiple times (1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008).
Following the 1926 Stanley Cup end of the season games, during which the Western Hockey League (WHL) was broadly answered to be nearly folding,[8] the NHL held a gathering on April 17 to consider applications for development establishments, at which it was accounted for that five unique gatherings looked for a group for Detroit.[9] During an ensuing gathering on May 15, the association affirmed an establishment to the Townsend-Seyburn gathering of Detroit and named Charles A. Hughes as governor.[10] Frank and Lester Patrick, the proprietors of the WHL, made an arrangement to offer the class' players to the NHL and stop alliance tasks. The new Detroit establishment bought the players of the WHL's Victoria Cougars, who had won the Stanley Cup in 1925 and had made the Finals the past winter, to play for the group. The new Detroit establishment likewise embraced the Cougars' moniker out of appreciation for the collapsed franchise.[11]
Since no field in Detroit was prepared at that point, the Cougars played their first season at the Border Cities Arena in Windsor, Ontario.[12][13] For the 1927–28 season, the Cougars moved into the new Detroit Olympia, which would be their home arena until December 15, 1979.[14] This was likewise the principal season behind the seat for Jack Adams, who might be the substance of the establishment for the following 36 years as either mentor or general manager.[15]
The Cougars made the Stanley Cup end of the season games without precedent for 1929 with Carson Cooper driving the group in scoring.[12][16] The Cougars were outscored 7–2 in the two-game arrangement with the Toronto Maple Leafs.[17] In 1930, the Cougars were renamed the Falcons, yet their troubles proceeded, as they normally completed close to the base of the standings, despite the fact that they made the end of the season games again in 1932.[18][19][20][21]
In 1932, the NHL let grain vendor James E. Norris, who had made two past fruitless offers to purchase a NHL group, buy the Falcons. Norris' first demonstration was to pick another name for the group—the Red Wings. Prior in the century, Norris had been an individual from the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA), a multi-sport club whose winged-wheel seal got from its cycling roots, and whose hockey group won the main Stanley Cup in 1893. Norris concluded that a red form of the MAAA "Winged Wheelers" logo was ideal for a group playing in the "Engine City" and on October 5, 1932, the club was renamed the Red Wings.[22] Norris likewise put mentor Jack Adams on a one-year probation for the 1932–33 NHL season.[23] Adams figured out how to pass his trial period by driving the renamed establishment to its first-since forever season finisher arrangement triumph, over the Montreal Maroons.[24] The group at that point lost in the semi-finals to the New York Rangers.[25] visit my website.

Charmed - Season Eight Review
Tumblr media
"We've truly been Charmed."
And so we hit rock bottom. Charmed's final season is an abomination; a dull and lazy slough to the finish line, where budget cuts make the sets look almost as tired as the cast do, and the dialogue has sunk so low that even Holly Marie Combs struggles to make it work. Help.
After the explosive ending of Season Seven, the writers clumsily write themselves out of the hole they dug themselves into, with Leo and the sisters forced into assuming new identities. This concept is played out over the course of the first five episodes, before an absurd confrontation at the FBI allows them to step back into their old lives. Even side-stepping the plot holes that plague that whole development, the silliness of the girls playing the Halliwells’ "cousins", and attempting to resume their old lives is bizarre. Only 'Run Piper Run' tries to use this idea in a vaguely interesting way, with Piper's assumed identity baring resemblance to a girl on the run from the authorities. The episode itself is awful, but the idea isn't a total crock.
Tumblr media
Aside from the awkward journey back to normality, the season's central focus is the introduction of novice witch Billie Jenkins (played by the woefully cast, but somewhat alright Kaley Cuoco) and her long-lost sister, Christy (played by Marnette Patterson, who seems to be sucking on a lemon every time she's on screen). We soon learn about the "prophecy" that pits the Jenkins against the Halliwells, something that Billie is wholly unaware of until her older sister returns and tries to sway the impressionable younger sister to her side. It's an arc that fails to truly ignite, though it has a few sparks of potential sprinkled throughout, notably the manipulation of Christy at the hands of the resurrected Triad. The moment she kills the last remaining member is an interesting turn that is never fully realized afterwards, with any subsequent Christy scenes painting her as a one-note wench.
Largely it's a total flop of an arc, one that was a bitter pill for some fans when it aired, since its inclusion meant the temporary exile of Brian Krause so the squashed budget could accommodate Kaley's salary. Since Leo was barely even a character at this point I personally wasn't bothered by his absence, and at least there's material with some depth when Piper has to say goodbye in 'Vaya Con Leos'. It was the missed opportunity of an all-out war between two sets of sisters that truly stung, especially since said war was a flashy staring contest that was lazily set-up by getting Piper to behave like an ignorant wagon, and forcing Billie to play the role of the most gullible fool in history. 'The Jung and the Restless' is a somewhat interesting hour that explores how "lost" the sisters have become and how their powers were being abused, giving Billie's eventual betrayal some sort of basis. Sadly, any interesting material is squashed in the following episode, 'Gone with the Witches', in which every magical creature we already hate decides to turn on the Halliwells, based on very flimsy evidence strung together by two nobody hacks.
Tumblr media
Elsewhere, the beautiful sibling dynamic that elevated the early seasons is completely buried, with the sisters’ transformation into unrecognizable, whinging crones ruining any hope of ever truly engaging with them again. It's hard to discuss any narrative growth in terms of the sisters this season, since it's all so underwhelming and lazy. What's worse than their horrific behavior is the archaic idea that Piper, Phoebe and Paige could only ever get happy endings if they were to settle down with a man and pop out three babies a piece - which is the ending each of them got, by the way.
For a series that was once a great example of imperfect, relatable women kicking ass, it's a cold slap in the face to relegate them to such offensive stereotypes. Piper's ending is the least difficult to accept, since she was already half way there, and her eventually selling P3 and buying a restaurant of her own is nice, as is her finally having the adorable little girl she saw in the future. Paige falls in love with a detective named Henry this season, and though he's a perfectly likable guy, it doesn’t feel right to see her adapt to such basic ideals, especially when you look at how progressive she was back in her early season four days. Phoebe's ending is similarly contrived, with her eventual union with cupid Coop coinciding with her fully cemented transition from fun, life-loving wild child, to boy crazed, single-minded bimbo. All this character assassination is just so...disappointing. Even more disappointing is the complete eradication of the sisterly bond that anchored the show when it first started. By this point, the Power of Three is barely even a factor, and we get next to no moments that reflect the true meaning of the Charmed Ones power.
Potions and Notions
Daryl is completely written out of the show this season thanks to budget cuts, but his exit isn't all that sad since his character was tired by season three at a push.
The Source is temporarily resurrected in the 40 minute aneurysm that is 'Desperate Housewitches'. Such a waste of a truly imposing villain.
Alyssa phones it in this season, but it’s Rose who’s truly the worst of the established cast members, twitching her way through every scene. You can see how completely fed up she was throughout the entire season, a dissatisfaction that was evident from as early as Season Six. Who can blame her considering how awful Paige became. For those interested, Rose’s book spills some serious tea about how much she did not like her time on the show.
I wonder what possessed the producers to choose Kaley Cuoco for the role of Billie? Surely someone less sitcom-ey would have been a better fit? I honestly think she was fine as the baby witch, the problem was more the shoddy character writing than anything Kaley was doing, though it’s clear she wasn’t a good fit for the series. At least she's found her groove now?
Spells and Chants
Paige: "I've had it with the leprechauns." I'm already with you, Paige.
Phoebe: "So much has happened over the last 8 years. So much has been gained and lost. Still, in some ways I feel like my life is really just beginning... "
Piper: "We're a family of survivors and we always will be. Which is why we've truly been Charmed."
Best Episode: Vaya Con Leos.
Honorable Mention: The Jung and the Restless.
Worst Episode: Malice in Wonderland.
I will always remember Charmed fondly. It was the show that taught me how great television could be when it was created with heart and enthusiasm. It's a shame to see what was once a fun and uninhibited adventure turn into a trashy, embarrassing mess, but those initial seasons will always be there to get lost in, as will the beautiful family dynamics that helped to create the series Charmed was during its imperial phase. Its legacy may be tarnished by the three shitbags that were the Charmed Ones of the later seasons, but it’s a legacy that remains nonetheless. Isn't it enough to celebrate what this show (initially) represented and appreciate anything it inspires in its wake?
3 out of 10 Rose McGowan facial twitches.

Homemakers' Comprehensive Guide to Trading Forex Using the Aid of Forex Trading Signal Service
Do you realize that an ever increasing number of homemakers today are exchanging Forex?
It's never again a mystery and truly, the quantity of homemakers who later turned out to be effective dealers is rising quick. In spite of the bustling days overseeing everything at home, these homemakers still figure out how to exchange Forex without relinquishing their errands and not just that, these homemakers likewise contribute enough to the their family monetarily. This story isn't overstated in any way. It's unadulterated reality. The uplifting news is, trust it or not it can likewise be your biography. time frame
Before you can get to their dimension, you should experience the entire procedure. Luckily, you can look over one of two ways the troublesome way and the astute way. The two situations underneath will enable you to comprehend the distinctions:
Situation A-the troublesome way
Maria is a housewife with two children. Her significant other is the foundation of the family; monetarily. He brings home a decent total on his check each month and gave his significant other and their children the majority of their needs. Regardless, being so powerful and productive at doing her undertaking, Maria felt that she is having a lot of spare time around the house. Subsequently, she started looking for something that may be beneficial to do and observed Forex to be the reasonable one for this reason. So she began purchasing DVDs, home instructing, and even gone to online classes trusting that she would probably profit reliably. In the long run she wound up burning through $5,000 for the entire thing before she even begun exchanging Forex with genuine record. She persistently working on everything that she procured from the assets that she purchased. With incredible order, she at last had the certainty to exchange utilizing a genuine record. Maria disclosed to her significant other that she is prepared to exchange with genuine record. Her significant other upheld her and gave her another $6,750 to open a genuine record. So she began her Forex exchanging venture cautiously and minimalistically in light of the fact that she would not like to squander her significant other's well deserved money. After a month, her record is as of now up $500 making an aggregate of $7,250. Her significant other and youngsters were exceptionally glad about this. The following month, she lost $75 so her complete is currently $7,175. The month from that point forward, she added another $730 to her record so the new absolute is $7,905. Up until now, the cash she spent as a speculation is $5,000 (as far as business, this isn't delegated cost since you want to bring more cash by spending it) and the measure of cash picked up for three months is $1,155. This occurred in a half year 3 months in preparing and sharpening her exchanging aptitudes and 3 months in genuine exchanging. She depended on herself to do the exchanging and figured out how to do as such and all the more significantly her better half and youngsters are glad for her. It is to be sure an extraordinary activity.
Situation B-the astute way
Jennifer is a homemaker with two young men and a girl. Her better half work from 9 to 5 and he never botched an opportunity to take extra assignments so as to inspire his manager. In the interim, Jennifer herself is truly occupied with her three minimal ones. They are dynamic around the house thus, Jennifer doesn't generally have that much time to take a break amid her feverish time. At some point, her companion acquainted her with online business and revealed to her that she could profit from the accommodation of her home without relinquishing her children. In addition, her companion revealed to her that she can do this even with no ability or information. To straighten something up, Jennifer asked them how. Her companion disclosed to her that there's an administration that can enable her to accomplish this. Not just that, the administration likewise accompanies a learning opportunity. Jennifer invested some energy to consider it and persuaded herself that she can do this in light of the fact that despite the fact that she is occupied she longed to most likely accomplish something to help assemble her youngsters' future and take some weight off her better half's shoulder. So Jennifer discussed it with her better half and he gave her $6,200 in light of the fact that they don't generally have that a lot of money for this. Jennifer then setup a genuine Forex exchanging account with her $5,500 and bought in to an exchanging signal administration similarly as her companion advised her. She paid $100 for the exchanging signal administration and she get the assistance of Forex expert to do the most troublesome part in exchanging for one month. She needed to steadily manufacture her record and would prefer not to be heedless and eager so she exchanged Forex moderately. Toward the finish of that month, she figured out how to bank $520 making her parity $6,020. It's a decent begin. And after that she paid another $100 for the following's month's administration. Amid that month she brought home $300 and raises her record parity to $6,320. Not awful. She took another $100 from the $700 that she put aside to pay for exchanging signal administrations. This time around, she included $683 and wound up with $7,003. Summing up, Jennifer put aside $700 to pay the exchanging signal administration and as of now burned through $300 from it and the measure of cash she added to her exchanging account so far is $1,503. Everything occurred in a brief time of 3 months and Jennifer is presently showing signs of improvement in her learning and soon she may most likely exchange without anyone else's input and all the more imperatively she can add to the family monetarily. Incredible employment, Jennifer.
The lesson of the story is you can do it all alone and invest much more energy, exertion and cash (she required $5,000 to plan herself and another $6,750 to support her genuine record) or you can cut the time and just get ready very nearly a half less cash ($700 to pay month to month membership charges and $5,500 for the opening a live Forex exchanging account). Them two expect to end up a capable Forex merchant and obviously, them two have a similar chance. The contrasts between the two ways are clear. You choose which one to pick. Presently, accepting that you run with the astute way, you just need to pursue 3 basic strides beneath:
Stage 1: get yourself a trusted Forex exchanging signal administration and pay the membership expense. This expense will give you the capacity to utilize their administration for the following 30 days (one month).
Stage 2: generally, you should sit tight for the exchanging alarm to hit your email or cellphone or exchanging stage. At whatever point great exchanging opportunity rises, the administration will send you an exchanging signal total with section and leave point and furthermore stop misfortune level as email or instant message (SMS) or exchange alert. This can be two times per week or significantly all the more relying upon the economic situation. Meanwhile, you can peruse the site to discover exchanging instructional exercises and assets so you can figure out how to end up a fruitful dealer yourself.
Stage 3: when you get exchanging signal you have to enter the requests (open a purchase or sell position and the stop misfortune or take benefit level) precisely as composed. An exchanging ready will incorporate where to open a purchase or offer position and furthermore where to put a stop misfortune or take benefit level. In the event that the trader(s) from the administration sees a few changes in the market after you enter the position they will refresh you with another alarm advising what step you have to take. At times the suggestion is to leave the position or to adjust your stop misfortune or take benefit levels. This will help secure part or entire benefit you have from dropping so you can boost your benefit.
Those are the main things that you have to do. To be obtusely genuine, nothing is even close to this dimension of straightforwardness and solace in the Forex exchanging world. The accommodation is the reason numerous individuals utilize an exchanging signal administration. Along these lines, on the off chance that you are prepared to run with this way, there are a few hints that can enable you to expand the utilization of the exchanging signal administration:
A few essentials before you proceed...
Before you can profit or hope to do any examination you should initially acquaint yourself with the new condition. Learn as much as you can about the terms utilized in the business and attempt to comprehend the nuts and bolts of how the market functions. You don't need to dive excessively deep similarly as long as you probably are aware how things work. A great part of the data you need can be found basically by utilizing Google and enter Forex glossary as the catchphrases or term. Likewise, you have to acclimate yourself with the exchanging stage that is broadly utilized in the Forex world. Meta Trader 4 (frequently contracted as MT4) is no uncertainty the most well known exchanging stage in Forex exchanging. Meta Trader 5 is as of now available however the fundamental capacity is the equivalent and MT5 is as yet not generally utilized contrasted with MT4. To acquaint yourself with MT4, you can go to Alpari U.S. (or on the other hand Alpari UK on the off chance that you are not a U.S. occupant) to enroll a demo account and download their MT4 stage. The acclimating stage will typically take around a little while at most.
Ensure you utilize a similar value feed or Forex specialist.
It is basic that you utilize a similar value feed that the Forex exchanging signal administration employments. Obviously the reason is on the grounds that there is no focal server farm that sustains Forex agents with costs. Other exchanging business sector, for example, the prospects advertise has focal information feed/clearing administration like CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) that goes about as the sole value feeders to fates specialists on ES (S&P 500 fates). Along these lines, you will a similar cost for ES despite the fact that you utilize diverse dealer. Sadly this is non-existent in the Forex advertise. You will see distinctive cost on various dealer. The distinction may change from 1 to 5 pips and this is gigantic. It probably won't appear to be colossal in the first run through yet over the time the distinction will amass to an enormous sum. On the off chance that you are exchanging utilizing a standard record (100K contract estimate) 1 pip is equivalent to $10 so 5 pips is equivalent to $50. Presently, on the off chance that you have a major record and exchange 5 standard parcels the sum that you will lose can be somewhere in the range of $50 to $250 in a solitary exchange. Assume that you exchange once per week with 5 standard parcels the sum that you will lose over a time of 1 year is somewhere in the range of $2,600 ($50x52 weeks) to $13,000 ($250x52 weeks). That is a great deal of cash. This is the reason it's urgent to utilize the equivalent Forex facilitate that the administration employments.

The Tiresome Arc of the Troubled Athlete
In Jean Renoir's The Rules of the Game, Octave says my favorite line of any movie I have ever watched: “The awful thing about life is this: everybody has their reasons.” It's a comment that speaks to life but perhaps every aspect of life including film itself. There were reasons why The Rules of the Game was critically ridiculed in 1939, banned by the French government later that year, then revived in 1956 to be considered one of the greatest films in the history of cinema.
Everyone has their reasons towards every film and 2018 is another year in which Hollywood rewards many movies that feel exactly like ones that they have in the past. It at least felt that way for me with I, Tonya, a movie whose genre as both an athlete biopic and more importantly as a complicated redemption story leading to sympathy has become tiresome and repetitive in Hollywood especially given society's behavior today.
It's not as if Tonya Harding's story isn't potentially worth making a film out of. As the movie points out, Tonya's story is an American story. It depicts lower class whites, not exactly the most common topic in movies, and does so in a gruff and honest manner. It's hard for anyone who has felt any type of shame for who they are to not feel something during Harding and Jeff Gilooly's initial courting in the movie when Gilooly says to Tonya, “I'm poor, too.”
The revival of Tonya Harding began when the 20-year-mark of the attack on Nancy Kerrigan occurred and ESPN's 30 for 30 released a documentary on it called The Price of Gold. The documentary did well in serving its purpose and covering the topic as many of the ESPN documentaries under the 30 for 30 label do.
But I, Tonya feels far more created with the primary purpose of winning Oscars and to bring sympathy to characters who are real people in our society whose worth in bringing sympathy towards is highly questionable.
Tumblr media
Earlier this year, the lead-up to Floyd Mayweather’s mega payday bout against Conor McGregor was filled with issues and stories regarding Mayweather’s long history with domestic violence. There was plenty of criticism towards Mayweather and I even wrote about the complexity of continuing to pay money to sports and to boxing in particular that are represented by troubling individuals. But on the other end of it is that, years later, society and Hollywood still rewards these kinds of athletes.
Raging Bull is one of my favorites movies and I, and many others, consider it one of the great American films. Are we left from that movie feeling bad for Jake LaMotta? Not necessarily, but we also find ourselves cheering for him and we’re not particularly sure if we should be doing that or not. Raging Bull is a great film not specifically for LaMotta but more for Martin Scorsese’s directing, Robert De Niro’s acting, and the list goes on and on in its cinematic achievements. But it still centers around a troubling athlete in LaMotta and most subsequent boxing films and other films with athletes as main characters have followed a similar difficult logic to deal with.
As much as we criticize Mayweather now, nothing has shown that American society will change. As I jokingly tweeted, “It’s good people criticize him now but can’t wait until ‘Mayweather’ starring Jaden Smith wins 5 Oscars in 2030 and public embraces it.” It’s a fact that I think will happen. This is the arc of the athlete in America for decades. Become an athlete who is successful enough to have a troubling backstory and win Oscar nominations, reclamation, and praise two decades later. We saw it in LaMotta in a far better film and we see it now with Harding and there are plenty of other examples of varying degrees of film success in which Hollywood toys with this dynamic out of athletes.
Tonya Harding had a tough life but there are few in sports who haven’t. Nothing makes her story any more unique other than her tough life found her in one of the most sensational stories of the 1990s. The structure of sports is that it is the outlet for many people who are poor to seek a payday. The complexities and problems that come with that in our society is more Harding’s story than anything else. But it’s also a story we’ve seen many times and that Hollywood continues to attempt to profit heavily from while also creating sympathy of characters that are perhaps not even worth it.
The sports biopic genre has become tiresome for that reason. Whereas 30 for 30 and plenty of offerings on Netflix and Hulu are creating captivating documentaries on the subjects of sports, biopics and dramas created by Hollywood come off far more manufactured by a machine: a machine determined to reach awards season and create a revitalization of sympathy for a story and a person that may not even be worth revisiting.
I, Tonya is a good film. The acting is good. But, to me, it did nothing to serve any bigger purpose beyond what sports documentaries accomplish and do so in a far more meaningful way. It also is a part of a genre that just seems done and continues to attempt to provide inspiration out of sports, a topic whose original values have substantially disappeared over time.
Society criticizes Mayweather and yet Mayweather’s undefeated record, over-the-top behavior, and personal life seem ripe for a Hollywood depiction. As Harding’s story unfolds again in Hollywood, Larry Nassar is headed to prison for sexual assault of over 200 girls in gymnastics. The crossover of this kind of a disturbing story and the lack of involvement of the United States Olympics Committee or United States Gymnastics Association or Michigan State University to stop this behavior is sickening. And yet some of these over 200 victims likely may have endured lives similar to that of Harding. They in many cases never even got to experience Harding’s level of success in figure skating in gymnastics. Someone like Nassar prevented them from that opportunity. Their movie will never come. Their sympathy will never be at Harding’s level even if far more deserving. Their story will sadly be more driven by Nassar’s horrible behavior than their own diligence and determination.
I, Tonya is nominated for Oscars and it very possibly will win at least one but it also speaks to a growing issue of how we as a society still look and handle sports and athletes and how Hollywood assists in that problematic depiction for its own gain.

Who are you favourite and least favourite characters? Favourite and least favourite ships? Feel free to give as much or as little detail as you like, id love to hear your thoughts :)
I’m going to assume this is in general and not specific to a certainmedium, ie. Fave tv or movie characters. I’ll try to limit myself but heads up,this may be a long post.
Favourite characters:
Prue Halliwell – fierce, strong, resilient, stubborn as hell and overlyprotective of her family, Prue is a character I identify with deeply andstrongly admire. She is multi-faceted, flawed and very complex and her arc on Charmed is one of my favourite aspects of the show.
Rachel Berenson – compassionate, brave, reckless, violent, bloodthirsty, one of my earliest heroes/role models, Rachel was my inspirationgrowing up, she showed me how a character can be both incredibly soft and amazinglyhard and how neither side needed to be compromised for the other. I will loveher until my dying day.
Jo March – another character I deeply identified with, even more sothan Prue, I pretty much was Jo March as a teen. Tomboyish,hot-tempered, constantly clashing with my siblings, rebelling against familyand societal expectations, a writer and voracious reader, everything about Joreflected that part of my life and watching Winona Ryder bring her to life inone of my favourite adaptations cemented my love for the character.
Angel – broody, petty, self-flagellating vampire with a good heart buta true darkness which he needs to constantly keep in check, who wouldn’t lovethis adorkable manpire? Angel is such a great character, he’s so complex andmulti-faceted and I wish more fans would watch his show so they can see hissubsequent development.
Juliet Burke – amazingly resilient and good-hearted broken woman, whosurvived so much, who played both sides in trying to gain her own freedom butcouldn’t go through with what she was tasked with doing and so chose to sidewith the Losties because she is such a good and compassionate person, whowatched woman after woman die while there was nothing she could do about it,who was manipulated and abused by an evil man who wanted to keep her forhimself, who fell down a ravine and detonated a bomb so that the man she lovedcould go home, who was selfless and kind and brave … I could go on forever, sheis amazing.
Charles Gunn – such an under-appreciated character, ignored byboth the fandom and the narrative, resilient, street-smart, intelligent, caring, unsure of how to navigate the world of grey but tried his best toadjust his world views, utterly screwed by the narrative of the show and thrownunder the bus for Wesley’s arc, the tragedy of Charles Gunn comes from howbadly he was treated and how the fans still refuse to see how great he was.
Mellie Grant – this is a new one as I only started watching Scandallast year but I fell so hard for Mellie Grant, fierce, resilientsurvivor that she is. I don’t think I’ve seen a more abused woman in TV buteverything her god-awful husband and Olivia Pope threw at her she survived, took in stride and came out the other side stronger and more badass. She is amazingand I hope that the shit-storm of a show gives her happy ending.
There are more I could list but we could be here forever, so I’llcap out here. Now, as for Least Favourite Characters:
Fitzgerald Grant – weak, spineless, abusive, useless, completely incompetentand constantly led around by his pecker, Fitz Grant is detestable. Thereis nothing redeeming about his character, he treats everyone around himlike shit (particularly his wife, the amazing Mellie Grant) and I just find himdespicable.
John Locke – I want to like John Locke, he is a layeredcharacter and he has a great actor attached to him but he’s just so pathetic,I cannot deal with him. He’s never right, he never knows what to do, he’sconstantly taking choices and agency away from the other Losties and I justfind him detestable.
Joey Potter – one of the biggest Mary Sues I’ve ever comes across ontelevision, she is constantly praised by other characters, propped up in the narrativeand fawned over, her story overtakes that of the main character of the show andI just find her to be a bitter, highly unlikable jerk who treats everyonearound her like crap.
Betty Cooper – this is a new one but much like Joey Potter, my dislikeof Betty Cooper stems from her being an insufferable Mary Sue whosestory/character has taken over the show, overshadowing the protagonist and allthe other far more interesting characters, while she herself is a bland, annoying Creator’s Pet, whose “dark side” is violent and cruel but is lauded asbeing “feminist”.
Favourite Ships
Okay, we could be here till tomorrow with these, so I’ll try to limitit to Top 5 here.
Buffy/Angel (BtVS) – the best and most endearing vampire/human lovestory, these two are beautiful, tragic, epic and just amazing. Theirrelationship spans two shows and their bond and connection is unrivalled. Theyhave been my OTP for almost twenty years and I will never stop loving them.
Darla/Angel (AtS)   – one of themost complex, dynamic, intriguing ships ever, I can’t even begin to find theright words to describe this incredible, centuries-long relationship. There areso many different sides and incarnations to this ship and the chemistry betweenthe actors is amazing, I can’t get enough of them.
Sawyer/Juliet (LOST) – two broken souls who were desperately trying tofind a home and found one in each other. This relationship, despite itsrelatively short run, was the most amazing, equal and beautiful one to come outof LOST, with the two character giving and taking, creating a beautifullybalanced and healthy ship, which was tragically cut short.
Fred/Gunn (AtS) – I will never forgive the AtS writers for decimating thisperfectly balanced, equal partnership, a gorgeous interracial ship, free ofstereotypes, which was built on a foundation of trusty, friendship, mutualattraction and respect (and was then torn apart for Wesley’s man pain).
Rachel/Tobias (Animorphs) – one of my earliest ships, I will never getover these two and the way they found one another amidst a war, the way theybrought out the humanity in one another and the way they grounded and focusedone another. They are absolutely heartbreaking.
Least-Favourite Ships
Spike/Buffy (BtVS) – abuse, sexual assault, emotional manipulation, attempted rape … I cannot deal with this ship, with the victim-blaming whichsurrounds it and the way in which Buffy’s pain and trauma was used to furtherSpike’s arc. This will forever be my most reviled ship.
Emma/Hook (OUAT) – this ship was forced, rushed, decimated the maincharacter of the show and reduced her to a shell of a woman whose life revolvedaround a man, not to mention it led directly to the killing off of the amazingNeal Cassidy.
Fred/Wes (AtS) – a creepy and obsessive “love”, in which Fred was hurt, shot and then horribly murdered in order to fuel Wesley’s man pain, I willnever be on board with the ship and its Spuffy-esque overtones. Give me Fredand Gunn any day.
Jonathan/Nancy (Stranger Things) – not only did Jonathan takecreepy-ass photos of Nancy while she was half-naked, their relationship wasunder-developed and forced and it threw poor Steve Harrington under the bus andmade out that his relationship with Nancy was all a farce.

Hey, Verby! I had a small fan fic related question: how do you come up with your titles? I always get stumped when I try and figure out what to title my fics, lol. And since yours are always so good, I figured I'd ask! Thanks!
aw cheers, thank you!
boy, I… guess I don’t even know, haha. it really varies.
since I do a lot of movie AUs, some fics just keep those titles or they’re a play on the original title - like, Dirty Designing (Dirty Dancing), Fantastic Beasts, Leopold Fitz’s Diary (Bridget Jones’s Diary), and Drive Me Crazy.
sometimes, I’m referencing/quoting something - Rosehill Cottage (that’s just from The Holiday, the AU source material itself - it’s what the cottage is called in the movie, and I didn’t really like “the holiday” as a title bc it felt too vague. but I thought I might be able to make a good title gif from it, so… ;-) )Like Magic (which is Fitz’s line in 1x01 about “it’s like magic - but it’s science” - and all the titles in the fic are AoS quotes, too)Palm to Palm (which is a cheeky reference to Shakespeare - “palm to palm is holy palmer’s kiss” - that makes me laugh like hell considering the story of that fic)Turn and Speak, Memory (this is a combo of the title of the article - already a Nabokov reference itself - that inspired the AU as well as the Doctor Who episode Turn Left, which provided the back half of the plot)I’m Mechanics, He’s Medical (which is a Firefly play on “I’m engineering, she’s biochem”)The Scientific Properties of Pie-Making and Dead-Waking (a play on a line from Pushing Daisies, the AU source) Dinner at the End of the Universe (a Douglas Adams reference, natch)While We Were Sleeping (although it’s unrelated to the movie I love, that’s where it’s from)Well Formed and Symmetrical (which is referring to Jemma’s line about Mike in 1x10)Forever is an Ambiguous Concept / A Quantification of Forever (both plays on the AU TV show’s title, Forever)The Event Horizon (that reference is self-explanatory, no?)
a lot of my titles are song lyrics. some of them came to me easily, as I was writing or right after I finished - Bright (the title of a song I discovered while I was writing and was blown away by how much it related to Stardust - even including the word itself!)The Storm Inside (actually a play on two different songs - Don’t Look Down, which I also use for the chapter titles, has the lyric “can you feel the lightning inside of you?” and then Stay With You, which is a big OTP song for FitzSimmons in my head for that fic, and has a lyric that goes “I can feel the storm inside you.” so I mashed em together to create the title!)Light Up the Sky (an old fave song that I happened to listen to while I was knee-deep in writing it, and thought it was just perfect for the story)Wide Awake (after Salvation by Gabrielle Aplin, bc I was feeling emo abt these two and listening to it a lot at the time)Out There (If I Reach Out) (which is a combo of two songs that are important in the fic itself) Every Little Thing (which is from the song I was listening to a lot while I wrote it) All That I’ll Ever Need / So In Love (both written for Tenerife Sea specifically)
other times, titles take a lot of brainstorming - Matchmaking Misadventures: Skye’s the Limit involved a lot of ridiculous title bantering between myself and my beta, and Dirty Designing actually took forever to name, with lots of input from two close friends. (ironically, the title I ended up going with wasn’t even on our brainstorm list - I came up with it myself at the eleventh hour, lmao. and this was after days of debate. go figure. the one from the brainstorm that I liked the best was Dirty Dynamics, which I still think is nice, haha.)
sometimes, a title that I thought was settled changes due to outside influence. Wait Out the Sun was originally “At the Sound of a Gun,” but I was listening to Heroes (We Could Be) on repeat during a mini road trip up the coast while I was writing, and got the phrase “we go undercover, wait out the sun” stuck in my head. when I brought WOtS up as an alternate title to my beta/friends, they all liked it better, and ta-da - it was changed. that song became so indelibly connected in my head with the Crime AU overall that I then named all of its subsequent sequels with lyrics from the same song - “all we’re looking for is love and a little light” and “we could hideaway in daylight,” respectively. :-)
Side By Side also had a title change - originally it was going to be “Of Doctorates and Daemons,” which I actually still really love and am sort of sad I never got to use at all, haha. but then at some point during last spring, before I’d even really started to write it yet and was still only tinkering with the 5k+ word outline while finishing up other fics, I was struck again by Fitz’s line from 3x08: “We had years side by side, and it never occurred to us.” and my brain went, well, in this universe, thanks to the daemons, it does. so I changed it to the final title!
I guess the lesson from these last two are that you should always be willing to change the title if a better one comes along! don’t get locked in.
and then all the rest of my fics… oy. um. they just… sounded nice? I rarely have a lot of trouble with titles, actually, unless I’m trying to do something specific (like for Dirty Designing, where I needed the D-alliteration AND a sciencey sounding word, all of which is harder to come up with than you might think). I just… try to find something that has to do with the fic itself? like The Routine as a phrase is repeated throughout the fic, so it fit naturally as a title.
personally, I prefer shorter titles, as concrete as possible, and I tend to like nouns. but we all have to figure out what works best for our own stories and preferences, y’know?
I have no idea if any of this is at all helpful, lol, and I’m sorry it got so long. hopefully you’ll find it useful to jumpstart your own title-writing! good luck!

http://tinyurl.com/yynwzsul Floodwaters charted the future of Kochi, the centuries-old port metropolis within the Indian state of Kerala—a sliver of land stretching some 360 miles alongside the nation’s southwestern Malabar Coast—practically 700 years in the past. The seaside enclave would seemingly by no means have develop into the bastion of multiculturalism it’s right now if not for a significant flood in 1341, which threw open its estuary to the Arabian Sea, reworking it into one of many best pure harbors within the East and an alluring vacation spot for an esteemed succession of conquerors and guests alike. Final August, nature once more tried to dictate Kerala’s destiny, this time to its detriment. The floodwaters closed Cochin Worldwide Airport—Kerala’s largest—for 2 weeks, induced roughly $2.5 billion in losses, and broken tens of 1000’s of properties throughout its 15,000 sq. miles. Predictably, the accompanying worldwide media protection detailing the devastation decimated Kerala’s tourism business—which accounts for 12% of its economic system and 20% of its jobs—for months after the roiling waters receded. Whereas it could take years for the handful of areas that bore the brunt of the harm to completely recuperate, the less-reported information is that Kerala is squarely again on its ft and arguably extra keen than ever to welcome vacationers to its lush and storied shores. Then go to St. Francis Church—the oldest European church in India—to see the unique grave website of Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama, whose maiden voyage right here in 1498 portended Kochi’s christening 5 years later as the primary European settlement on Indian soil. Close by stands a big weathered gate marked with the initials “VOC,” the monogram of the Dutch East India Firm, a former buying and selling titan that was as soon as the richest personal firm on the earth through the 17th century. It testifies to the once-vital commerce hyperlinks between Kochi and the Netherlands. Stand earlier than the gate dealing with Parade Floor, the most important open inexperienced on the town, and you may see Cochin Club, a previously all-male British bolt-hole based within the early 20th century and a vestige of the ultimate chapter in Kochi’s colonial historical past, which started in 1795 (when Nice Britain formally modified the town’s identify to Cochin) and lasted till India’s independence in 1947. The German-born Drechsel, a former exhibition designer, was first seduced by Kerala’s charms in 1972 after driving there from Europe throughout international locations together with Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan—“unthinkable right now,” he says—and was particularly impressed by its melting pot of religions and cultures. (Some 32 communities talking a minimum of 16 languages dwell in Previous Kochi, the collective identify given to Fort Kochi and neighboring Mattancherry.) “As a lifetime traveler, many locations I’ve visited have develop into victims of ethnic and spiritual conflicts,” Drechsel says. “Kerala’s Hindu, Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities have grown facet by facet over many centuries, creating an umbrella tradition with a typical language and a shared lifestyle. It’s a shining instance that there’s one other method.” Returning to Kerala some 20 years later with Iriarte Solana and ideas of beginning a brand new life chapter, they occurred upon the Malabar Home property, then dilapidated and overgrown, and snatched it up in 1995. I have continually been fanatical approximately Running a blog ever due to the fact blogs seemed on the Net.
I write on non-public development and dating. It isn’t exactly the sexiest topic to put in writing on, However, I revel in the advantageous impact it makes in different people’s lives. From time to time I love to reach out to other bloggers for advice, But greater regularly than now not, I like to do it to comfortable a guest publish spot or a joint venture. thru this technique of sending out emails, and also being on the opposite aspect of having emails for guest put up requests, I have some valuable pointers on what works and what fails.
Sending an Email to a person busy you first ought to show value and which you, in reality, study their website online. I can not tell you how frequently I am getting emails from folks who want me to just accept a stupid 250-word guest publish pointing returned to their three-page online dating advice hints weblog that simplest exists to get the fee for relationship website gives. I hate those sites, and if you study my website they might recognize that. Quit result is their silly Email Goes ignored and deleted. As an alternative, examine the website online owners blog for a few days.
Get a sense for who they’re for my part and take that into attention when sending out an E-mail. The next step is to demonstrate price. In case you’re going to visitor submit, make certain it’s far a =”hide”>fantastic=”tipsBox”> visitor publish and also make sure your website is worth linking to. In my personal non-public instance, the individuals who E-mail me just need to take from me. They do now not provide any fee. Recollect before you call for something from everybody, you have to prove your own well worth first.
