Gail Simone recently shared exciting news during her appearance at a WonderCon panel, revealing her plans to introduce four fresh mutants into the Uncanny X-Men series. Teaming up with artist David Marquez, Simone discussed her vision for the series, which will feature a Louisiana backdrop and a distinct "Southern Gothic" vibe.

During the panel, Simone emphasized the relatable aspect of the X-Men, noting that their sense of being different resonates with many in the real world. Drawing inspiration from the concept of "hidden disabilities," Simone crafted the powers of the new mutants to reflect this theme, providing a contrast to more overt abilities like Wolverine's claws.

Each of the "core" X-Men titles, Simone explained, will have its own unique atmosphere shaped by its setting. In Uncanny X-Men, set in New Orleans, readers can expect a blend of intense action and emotional depth, skillfully illustrated by Marquez.
