୨୧ — jj’s confession; s.r (2)
very very high in demand and part 1 is about to hit 1k notes so here u go :))))
warnings: angst, really sad lol, but happy ending ! part one is here
it had been a few days since you and spencer had stopped talking. despite working and living together, the silent treatment had been going strong. you hadn’t really talked to jj either other than giving her a simple nod on a case or a nasty look here and there, though she had been overall avoiding you.
sitting at your desk, doing paperwork, garcia came over to you while staring at spencer the whole time. “hey, um could you come with me for a second i need to tell you something.”
“uh, sure.” putting the files away, you followed her to her little office where she shut the door behind you.
“don’t tell spencer i told you this, but he’s really sorry, y/n. every day since i told you what happened he’s come to me almost crying saying how he doesn’t know what to do and he wants to fix the problem. please just talk to him.” she pleaded, holding onto your arm
“i don’t know penelope.” you sighed, sitting on her chair. “please please please he’s like a sad little lost puppy without you. you don’t have to make everything right all at once but just talk to him.”
“how am i supposed to talk to him though. how are we supposed to make it right again i can’t just excuse him saying he doesn’t know who to choose when we’ve been married for years? there’s no way i could just overlook it.”
“and i get that and you have every reason to be upset. but the silent treatment is just killing the team.” she looked down at you, grabbing your hands “pretty please?” you sighed, agreeing to talk to him.
grabbing your coat and bag, you walked back to spencer’s desk, not making any eye contact with him. “grab your stuff, let’s go.” he immediately followed right behind you.
once you got outside the building, and into your car you headed to a park. the one he had taken you to the night he proposed.
sitting on the bench, you looked up at him. “sit down.”
“i miss you.” was all he said. you could see him looking over at you through the corner of your eye, but all you did was look down.
“where do we go from here, spencer? help me figure this out because i have no idea what to do.” finally looking over at him you could tell he hadn’t been sleeping well since he had willingly taken the couch.
“i’m not sure. but i know i have explaining to do.” he sighed, not knowing exactly where to start. “you know when i said that the feelings were only there until you came into my life? that part was true. and when i said i didn’t know who to choose? that part was true too. but only because her whole confession resurfaced buried feelings that i thought i had gotten rid of since we got together. and i know trusting me is the last thing you’re able to do right now, but trust me when i say that when i proposed to you here in this park, and when we got married, and any of the millions of times when i said that i love you. she wasn’t a part of any of that. not even in the slightest.”
he was almost crying at this point, and you could tell the guilt of the whole situation was eating him alive. but that didn’t make anything better.
“i know, spencer. and i really really want to make us work, but i don’t know how i could just move on from this.” you said, looking over at him with tears in your eyes.
his heart dropped. “are you trying to say something?” you couldn’t bear to look at him anymore, the feeling being too painful. “i’m sorry.”
grabbing your hands, he looked over at you. "please. let's work through this. even if it means taking a short break from each other to figure things out, i can't lose you."
your heart breaks just looking at the state he's in. dark circles around his eyes from the lack of sleep, the tears swelling up in his eyes, and the desperation in his face for you to stay.
if you were being completely honest, you really didn't want to leave him, not just because you felt awful for him, but because you know how badly it would hurt you too. you don't think you could ever find a person who could even come close to the kind of person Spencer is. kind, caring, nice, funny, knows exactly what you like and dislike. he was unlike anybody else.
"how about we take some time to think then. i think we could both use that and then we can come to the decision." he looked grateful as ever. "yes, yes. a million times yes let's do that." he said, hugging you tighter than he ever has. "ok don't get too excited."
a few weeks had passed since you decided to take a break to think about where to go next with your relationship, you hadn't seen spencer much since then as he had been spending most of his time teaching and you went to move in with penelope temporarily. you gave spencer a call to let him know you wanted to meet up today at your shared home to talk.
"come in" he said while opening the door for you, he looked happier than usual which settled your nerves a bit more. "so, are we here to talk about our decision?" he asked, you nodded in response
sitting down on the couch together, he started rambling on about how he felt. "i know what i did was an asshole thing and i should have never said anything about anything and you're my wife and that's what i should have said when you asked me who to choose but to be honest there is no need to choose because the only person I have and will ever, ever need is you and forever only you. and i'm so sorry for everything that happened and I hope you feel the same way."
staring at him, you didn't give him an answer which made him nervous. "say something.. please." you just smiled at him
"well. it's going to take a lot of work to get back to where we were, and i hope you know my trust in you has gone down by a bit, but I talked to jj. and i came to the decision that i still want to be with you. because to be honest with you, i don't know how I could ever be with anyone else."
he looked you in the eye, with the biggest smile. "i love you, so so much. more than you'll ever know. it's always been you." he said, pulling you in for a hug and kissing the top of your head
"i love you more, spencer"
hahaha i hope u liked this >:)
i'm not sure how much i like this ending but oh well

Mute
Prompt: I absolutely adore your writing! Could I ask for a request too, please? I was thinking of a back-and-forth between Janus and Logan, just lies after truths after lies, until one snaps and accidentally causes the other to lose the ability to speak? Since they can both technically change the reality around them. Either the recipient becomes forcibly mute or the very angsty "sowed up mouth" method. Whoever caused the other to lose their speech freaks out and tries their best to fix their mess while apologising. Either a platonic or romantic ending -whichever you decide- but with at least a happy ending please? - willowaudreykeyes
Thanks for the prompts, babe!
Read on Ao3
Warnings: sympathetic janus, logan gets his mouth sewn shut but it's okay we fix it
Pairings: can be platonic or romantic I don't care, but we hit logince, rociet, lociet
Word Count: 2922
He doesn’t even remember how it started.
Or, an argument between Logan and Janus spirals dangerously out of hand, and powers in the Mindscape are sometimes more curses than blessings.
It hadn’t been something Thomas knew about, it hadn’t been a group discussion—he doesn’t think the others know where they are. Virgil is probably in his room, Roman is working in the Imagination, Patton is baking with Remus.
He doesn’t remember how it started.
He does know how they got here.
“I fail to see what use this is,” Logan had grumbled, standing up from the library table, “I will be better off figuring this out myself.”
“Oh, yes, of course, because that’s always gone so well for you in the past.”
Logan’s eyes had flashed with anger he still denies he has. “I fail to see what gives you the opinion that you have any right to complain.”
“Because I’m certainly the one saying that I’ve done all my best work alone.”
Janus had smirked cruelly as Logan shoved his glasses back up his nose and pointed a finger at him. “Your track record, may I remind you, has certainly shown that.”
Janus had thrown his head back and cackled, filled with mirth that sat like rot in the pit of his stomach. “And yet I managed to do so much more in the few times I appeared than you.”
“Oh, like that’s the same thing.”
He had held his hand to his mouth in a mock gasp. “Why, Logan, surely you can’t be insinuating that you think the others are incompetent. How hurtful, what on earth would they say?”
“I did not say that.”
“But you meant it, didn’t you?” Janus had morphed his expression into a mock pout. “They’re all so slow, so irrational, all they do is get in the way, they’re so irritating.”
“You’re attempting to convince me that I said something I did not,” Logan had said firmly, “it will not work. The meaning of my remark, as you are aware, was that you, as your role in the videos, have an easier time disrupting the flow of conversation that I do as a member of the main cast.”
Logan had ignored—or perhaps not noticed—the subtle tightening of Janus’s fist. He had simply sniffed and looked down his nose.
“And even then, it’s a surprise you haven’t been more capable.”
Janus had bared his teeth. “Yes, because obviously, you could’ve done better.”
“Oh, please.” Logan had tucked his notebook into the crook of his arm. “Can you name one of your haphazard schemes that actually worked?”
Janus had gritted his teeth as Logan opened the notebook and began to read down the list.
“Your attempt to get Thomas to lie to Joan failed when Roman started to believe that lying was wrong as well, leading to Thomas discovering your true identity.”
“By all means,” Janus had growled, “keep going.”
“Most notably, your attempt to get Thomas to go to the callback backfired quite spectacularly—something that wouldn’t have happened in quite the same fashion had you actually let me participate—“
“Keep talking, Logan,” he’d said again, inching closer to the nerd, “that’s a wonderful idea.”
“—and of course, led to what is the most disruptive event in recent memory,” Logan had continued, undaunted, “the wedding.”
Janus hadn’t even bothered with words this time, reaching for the notebook with a growl. Logan had tucked it away before he could reach it.
“Tell me,” he had said, “was it worth it? Knowing how much it cost us?”
“Surely,” Janus had growled back, “then you know it’s not because you didn’t do your job well enough.”
Logan had stiffened. “What are you talking about?”
“Well surely you haven’t realized that the reason I was able to make it into that video in the first place,” Janus had said smoothly, sliding back into the ‘villain’ persona Logan has so graciously cast him in, “was that you were so painfully easy to replace.”
“Falsehood,” Logan had said lowly.
Janus had raised his hand again. “Oh, so you did notice. Splendid. Then you know that when it comes to pushing blame around the Mindscape—“
He had leaned closer.
“—you’re where we should be looking too.”
“I am—“
“Easy to overlook,” Janus had sung, prowling around Logan in a circle, “easy to silence. And surely there’s no correlation between when you attempt to override the others and when Thomas gets hurt. You want to talk about my failures? Then let’s not forget getting the others trapped in Patton’s room, shall we?”
Logan’s fists had tightened. “That’s not—“
“After all,” Janus had continued, speaking over him to illustrate his point, “if I’m to blame for knocking all the dominos down, you certainly didn’t give me a hand setting them up.”
“As if that in any way equivocates to what you did,” Logan had spat, the emotionless facade finally giving way as he whirled of Janus, “I did not use, manipulate, and lie to get the others to do what I want.”
“Oh, of course you didn’t.”
“And if I did, my lies would be nowhere near as comically obvious.”
“Ah, yes, of course you’re never comical.” Janus had tapped Logan’s flushed cheek. “The possibilities of you being a joke have always been…infinitesimal.”
Logan had bared his teeth as Janus chuckled. “At least my concept of a joke never hurt anyone.”
Logan’s mouth had tugged up cruelly too.
“Setting Remus loose on Thomas when you knew he was already upset, pushing the others to follow on whatever path you decided was best. And let’s not even start on what you did to Roman.”
Janus had flinched.
“Have you ever apologized?” Logan had shaken his head. “For everything that you’ve done to hurt him?”
“Have you?”
The room had dropped several degrees.
Janus had dropped the villain persona, staring directly at Logan.
“You want to talk about hurting the others, hurting Roman,” he had said lowly, “what do you think it is that you do?”
Logan had opened his mouth to speak but Janus had raised a finger.
“No. Do you know how much you’ve hurt him? Over how many years you’ve made him ashamed of who he is?” He had shaken his head. “I know I’ve hurt him. But you don’t seem to recognize it.”
He had looked Logan up and down, mouth curled in disgust.
“Maybe I’m not good enough at my job for your liking, but I sure was good at yours.” He had raised an eyebrow. “Maybe they wanted you silenced permanently. They did press the ‘skip’ button, after all.”
He had looked for the shadow of the bruise on Logan’s neck.
“And it was so easy to replace you. To silence you properly.”
He had turned away, not bothering to look at Logan’s face.
“Maybe I should do them a favor and keep you quiet.”
There had been a strangled gasp behind him.
“Oh, what,” Janus had drawled, turning around, “did you finally realize you don’t have a smart comeback for…”
The room had frozen.
…so that’s how they got here.
Janus, standing a few paces from Logan, turning back to face him, the sharp quip dying on the edge of his lips as his mouth drops open in horror, staring back.
Logan, his eyes wide, shining with unshed tears, glasses blurred and obscured by the bright light shining from the golden stitches that sew his mouth shut.
Logan raises trembling hands to his mouth, feeling the stitches, tears rolling down his face. His fingers disappear into the bright golden light as he fumbles with his mouth, until he realizes that he can’t.
The strangled scream lingers in Janus’s head long after Logan shrinks into a crouch on the floor.
No.
No.
No, no, no, no—no, not Logan. Not Logan.
“Oh, god—“ Logan’s hands keep pressing fruitlessly against his mouth— “no, oh, god, Logan—“
He runs back, ready to crouch and pry Logan’s hands away before he hurts himself, chest splitting open from the ache of hurting the poor thing like this.
He doesn’t think it could hurt more.
Like so many other times today, he’s wrong.
The instant Logan catches a glimpse of him moving toward him, he shoves himself away, scrambling backward until his back hits the wall. Eyes wide, breathing as heavily as he can through the stitches, utterly terrified.
As he has every right to be.
“No, no, Logan,” he murmurs frantically, “no, it’s okay, I’m not trying to hurt you—“
Does it matter that you’re not trying? You certainly were earlier.
“—I promise, Logan, please, I’m—I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to—“
Through the pants, the sobs, the shakiness of his chest, Logan huffs, disbelieving.
“I didn’t, Logan, I promise.” Janus drops to his knees in front of the crying man. “I—we went too far. I’m sorry, I didn’t know this would happen, I didn’t mean to, please—“
The poor thing presses himself further against the wall. Janus swallows, feeling guilt press hot and heavy against the underside of his tongue. He reaches out, trying desperately to show him that he’s sorry, he didn’t mean to, he doesn’t actually believe anything he just said, he’s nothing but a liar, a horrible liar, please—
“I didn’t mean it, Logan, I promise, you’re—you’re not replaceable, I don’t want you silenced, the others don’t hate you, they don’t want you gone, I’m sorry—“
Slowly, too slowly, and not slowly enough, Logan’s breathing begins to settle. His eyes lose that awful whiteness and he slumps a little against the wall. His cheeks are damp, his glasses knocked askew, but he stares at Janus and slowly, slowly, nods.
“L-Logan?”
Another nod, a little less hesitant.
Janus’s shoulders slump. “Oh, Logan, why does it always end up with you being the better person?”
A tiny quirk of the eyebrow, nowhere near Logan’s typical sass levels, but it’s enough. It’s enough. Enough to make a weak smile come to Janus’s face.
“Can I come over, please? Can I come help?”
Logan nods, still wary as Janus shuffles across the floor. Before he makes it all the way there, he tugs off his gloves and stuffs them in his pocket.
“There,” he says quietly, wiggling his fingers to get used to it, “don’t want the fibers getting caught on anything.”
Logan’s wide-eyed stare tells him he knows why Janus really took the gloves off. Something Janus confirms a moment later.
“And I want you to know that I mean it.” He reaches forward. “Can I touch?”
Logan still flinches when Janus runs his thumb carefully over the cruel stitches sewing Logan’s mouth shut. He winces as he takes in how taut the thread is, how many stitches there are.
“Oh, Logan, I’m so sorry,” he mumbles, “does it hurt very badly?”
Another miserable nod.
Then it clicks.
Logan.
The one who submits least to the Imagination. The one who tethers himself tightly to the fact that they are metaphysical, they are subjective, they need not subject themselves to real-world consequences of whatever nonsense the other Sides pull.
Logan still has the stitches.
It threatens to break Janus’s heart all over again.
“Oh, sweetie,” he murmurs, cupping Logan’s face and slipping his glasses to the top of his head, “I’ve hurt you more than this, haven’t I?”
For indeed, if Logan is too upset to remember how to pull himself out of turns of phrase, then the poor thing is distraught.
“Shh, shh, it’s okay,” he murmurs, gently wiping away Logan’s tears, “it’s okay, sweetie, I’m not going to hurt you, it’s over, I’m not angry, I’m going to take care of you.”
And oh, the way Logan pushes shyly into his hands feels warm.
“Does this help, sweetie, is this alright?” At Logan’s nod, he moves, tucking Logan’s legs across his lap with his other hands. “Come here, yes—that’s it, shh, I’ve got you, you just focus on me.”
Logan’s eyes fall closed and a muffled whimper comes from his throat.
“I’ve got you, sweetie, I’m right here,” Janus murmurs, still cupping the poor thing’s head as it leans into him, “shh, shh, let’s get you a little calmer before we have a look, okay?”
Logan gives a huff of ‘what do you think I’m trying to do?’
“I know you know that, sweetie,” he chuckles, lifting Logan’s head to gently knock their foreheads together, “you’re clever. Our resident brain cell.”
He wraps one hand around the back of his neck.
“It’s just like what you taught us, remember? Object impermanence. This won’t last forever. I’m right here. You were so brave, you are so brave, so wonderful, so sweet…just give yourself time, sweetie, it’s okay.”
Logan relaxes a little in his hold as he keeps talking quietly. The poor thing gets over his hesitation and buries his face shamelessly in the crook of Janus’s neck.
“Shh, shh, that’s it, sweetie, easy now—“ Janus cradles him as he sets his glasses out of the way— “I’ve got you. I’m right here, sweetie, I’ve got you. It’s almost over, now, you can do it, shh.”
Another muffled noise from Logan.
“You’re not easily replaceable,” Janus says firmly, “you’re not unwanted. You’re not a joke, the others know how much you care about them, how much you help them, how important they are to you, how important you are to them.”
He tilts his head to press a kiss to Logan’s temple.
“How important you are to me.”
The golden light dims, sputters, and vanishes.
“…sweetie?”
Logan pulls back, carefully rubbing his fingers over his stitch-free mouth. He opens and closes a few times.
“Ouch.”
“Are you alright, sweet? I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to—“
“I know,” Logan says quietly, “I’m sorry too. That…escalated very quickly. I did not mean the things I said either.”
He squints.
“Oh, here—“ Janus passes him his glasses.
“Thank you. But that’s not why I—what were we arguing about, to begin with?”
Janus huffs a laugh. “I had been meaning to ask you that question.”
“Well, whatever it is, it must not have been very important.”
There’s a moment of silence.
“I’m sorry too,” Logan repeats after that pause, “you are not just a villain, you are not incompetent, and you…you are not to blame for everything that has gone wrong.”
Janus chucks him lightly under the chin. “Neither are you.”
“I know that, intellectually, and yet…somehow, it remains difficult for me to grasp.”
“Because even though you’re Logic, sweetie,” Janus says, “you’re Thomas’s Logic.”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“Because Thomas is, frankly, something of a dumbass.”
It startles a laugh out of him at any rate.
“I mean, that also makes you a dumbass.”
“Oh, I’m perfectly aware.”
Logan’s smile is wonderful. “What is it that Roman is quite fond of saying?”
“That he’s pure of heart, dumb of ass?”
“That’s is.”
“Well, it’s true.”
“It is.” Logan frowns. “Even if he’s far more intelligent than he gets credit for.”
Janus nudges him. “I hope you know that you can be big of brain and dumb of ass at the same time.”
“Ah. I see.”
There’s another moment of silence as they reflect on what’s been said. Then Logan nervously adjusts his tie.
“Speaking of Roman…”
“I was about to say.” Janus gives his knee a pat. “Shall we see if we can find him?”
“I believe his business in the Imagination should be done.” They help each other to stand, Logan keeping a grip on Janus’s sleeve. “Should we check his room first?”
“I think so.”
Roman, of course, swings open the door with a cheerful greeting, the role of the pompous prince firmly in place until he takes in their tear-stained faces and he melts, dropping the act almost immediately.
“Oh, my darlings,” he coos, cupping each of their faces in a hand, “what’s the matter? Why do you look so upset?”
“May we come in, please?” Indeed, poor Logan looks as if he’s about to melt into Roman’s arms. Janus can’t talk, though, he’s about to do the same.
“Of course, come on, let’s get you sat down—“
Roman bustles about the room, fetching them a glass of water, sitting on his bed with them, almost bursting into tears himself when he hears what’s happened and promptly telling them they’re going to spend the rest of the day right here, in comfy clothes, watching ridiculously obscure documentaries until Patton and Remus call them down for dinner. They keep a hand on each other at all times, laughing at Janus’s snarky responses to awful narrators, Logan’s quick corrections when the information is out of date, and Roman’s impersonations of the strange wildlife. Roman’s room is pleasantly noisy and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
He doesn’t remember how it started, but he will always remember how it ended.
Curled around each other, in the warmth and safety of the people who care about him.

Pairing: MGK x Female!Reader
Word Count: 4k
Warnings: mild swearing
Part Summary: While Y/N is out shopping with Cara, news breaks that ties her with MGK.

Two days later...
Cara and I go out shopping and have lunch for a girl’s day. I have yet to talk about the other night with Sam. Cara hasn’t mentioned it and I have no plans to either. Cameras have followed us up and down Rodeo Drive. By this point, Cara and I are both used to it. Carrying my bags however, I doubt I look graceful for these videos their taking. Oh well, they have fifteen thousand more of me.
“CARA! EXCITED TO WALK IN THE CHANEL FASHION SHOW?”
Cara ignores the paparazzi and points out a dress in the window at Dolce and Gabbana. I request to go inside to try it on. I’m not sure where I’d wear it to, but that doesn’t really matter.
“Welcome ladies!” A woman in a black dress approaches. “Can I help you find anything in particular?”
I point over to the dress in the window, “could I see that in a size six please?”
She leaves us to go find the dress for me and we roam around a small section while she does. My phone rings and I see Nicole’s name pop up. My heart immediately begins to race. She doesn’t call me unless absolutely necessary, usually we text. I step away toward the corner to be discreet.
I answer the call hesitantly. “Nicole? What’s up?”
“I got a call from Stephanie,” she sounds agitated on the other end.
Stephanie is my publicist, she handles everything that Nicole can’t basically. They bicker a lot since they’re both so headstrong and constantly need control. It’s the classic good cop/bad cop scenario, yet I don’t know who’s who. These two cover every aspect of my career, God bless them.
“Oh no, sounds bad,” I grumble anxiously.
“Depends how you look at it,” she lightens her tone.
“What is it?” I press.
“Well…” she hesitates.
“Nicole!” I drag out her name.
“It’s all over social media, magazines and it will be on TMZ tonight,” she stammers. “I’m surprised you haven’t already heard if I’m being honest-”
“Nicole! What?” I rush her.
“An article about you and Colson Baker just dropped on some gossip sight,” she explains. “It says that you and Colson Baker are dating. Stephanie and I figured no one would believe it but it’s everywhere! They have videos and photos of you two leaving The Ivy plus talking by Sam’s car. If I didn’t know you, I would be convinced.”
My head hangs low as I rub my forehead, letting out a deep sigh. “Oh dear God.”
“We can handle it, don’t worry!” Nicole assures. “This story will be gone soon!”
“I need to go, talk to you later!” I hang up on Nicole right when the woman shows me the dress.
“I’ll take it” I attempt to hurry up the process.
Cara comes up next to me “don’t you think you should try it on first?”
“I’ll explain later but we need to go” I whisper to her and just like that, she’s hurry the woman along at the register.
I have the dress and exit the store in a rush. I must act cool, the paparazzi will take notice of my mood change.
“HOW’S COLSON, Y/N?”
“SEEING HIM TONIGHT?”
“HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DATING?”
“HOW ARE GONNA HANDEL HIS FANS?”
“HAS HE MET THE FAMILY YET?”
“What’s going on?” Cara asks concerned.
“I’ll explain once we’re somewhere private,” I whisper so the cameras don’t pick up on it.
We speed walk to the car and I offer to drive since I made us cut the day short. Once we’re on the highway towards home Cara asks what the heck is going on.
“Why did they keep asking about Colson?”
I turn on the radio and Elvis Duran, along with his team, are discussing no other than me and Colson.
Danielle summarizes the article for the listeners. “The article says they’ve been dating for the past few months. They’re very happy but the relationship is still new. The pair has not yet met each other’s families but Colson is going on tour soon so maybe Y/N will join him and eventually meet the family. Throughout, there are tons of photos of the cute young couple leaving The Ivy Wednesday night. There’s even a link to a video showing them, what appears to be, having a deep conversation by Sam Merka’s car. If you watch the video, the two are clearly looking at each other very lovingly. I mean, he’s looking at her the way I look at a fresh pizza!”
The rest of the cast laughs and I can’t believe what I’m hearing. Actually, scratch that, I can believe it. I’m just pissed.
“If MGK and Y/N are officially an item, why did she leave with Sam Merka?” Elvis questions.
“I’m glad you asked! According to sources, they’ve been very close friends since the start of TSL. In fact, the duo have taken many vacations together along with their co-star Penelope Glass.”
Cara turns down the volume and looks to me with a steady expression. “Is it true?”
I narrow my gaze at her in bewilderment. “What? No! There’s no way in hell!”
“Okay, just checking,” she lets out a sigh of relief.
“Never ever!” I add and change the station.
Colson Baker is everything I despise in a person. I’ve never hated someone so fast as I’ve hated him. Us together as a couple is impossible. It’s completely irrational.
_________________________________________________________
Later in the afternoon, Stephanie sets up a meeting for us to meet with Colson and his publicist. I had to drag myself to her office. My Fridays aren’t well spent in an office building with enemies. In fact, my whole day could be tarnished by this incident. The meeting room we’re all ushered into is freezing and I’m still in my sundress from earlier. Cara and I were never able to get lunch so I’m starving on top of being cold. The photos of us play in a slideshow on the meeting room’s tv. An endless cycle of false advertisement is how I see the photos. The media is selling us as something completely far from the truth. On top of everything, I’m in a meeting with the one guy in all of Los Angeles I can’t stand. Death would be less painful than the current situation. I tune out the debate between Stephanie and Colson’s publicist. He told me his name but my brain is so numb from the temperature in here I can’t recall it.
“Y/N!” Stephanie calls my name and I search for her around the room until I find her in the doorway with Colson’s publicist.
“We’re going to go make a few phone calls. You two will stay here while we handle the press.” I nod “sounds good.”
I send her a weak smile to charm her out of an apology for zoning out. She huffs and escorts Colson’s guy to her office so they can talk on speaker privately. I stand up from my office chair and stroll over to the windows overlooking the courtyard. I watch the cars zoom by on the street and businessmen and women shuffle in and out of the Starbucks below.
“If it means anything, I’m sorry,” Colson says quietly behind me.
I nearly miss it, he speaks so quietly. I lean against the wall, crossing my arms as I face him.
“You’re sorry?” I shrug, not really seeing his blame. “Why? It’s not your doing.”
I return my gaze to the chaos below us. I watch as people with office jobs travel about. I wonder if they’ve heard of me? I wonder if they like me or think I’m a stuck up actress? I shouldn’t care what people think, but it’s easier said than done. When millions watch TSL every week, it’s hard to ignore the wondering.
“If I hadn’t walked you to the car none of this would be happening,” Colson reasons guiltily.
I shake my head, finding humor in the situation now. The paparazzi can make nothing into a months long romance. A brief conversation outside a restaurant and suddenly we’re meeting each other’s families.
“We were only walking to a car. How could either of us have predicted the amount of attention that would come of us walking?” I justify, not to ease his mind, but my own.
My flicker over to the tv, I examine the slideshow of us. Examining the photos I realize it wasn’t all in my head, the way in which Colson was gazing at me is a tad bit gawk-like. Images of us walking to the car while I’m answering the paparazzi’s questions depict Colson glancing at me with what seems to be such admiration. A picture of when Cara calls for Colson comes up and I’m stunned by how we look. Even I appear to be in awe of him in return. It’s evident Cara is speaking yet neither of us react. We were so caught up within on another.
“I have one question!” I blurt out suddenly with my arms crossed I walk back over to the table. Just one and then I wish to put all of today’s events to rest.” Colson perks up and hums for me to continue. I point over to the photos on the screen “why did you look at me the way you did?”
Turning his head, he reviews the photos blankly and I wait anxiously for some sort of reason. “I’m not looking at you in any particular way,” he disregards my accusations.
I chuckle, amused by his horrible way of lying. “Lies!”
He’s thrown off by my reaction and I storm over to the TV screen to point it out to him.
“It’s clear as day to the press, the public and now me included. You’re clearly lost in some kind of thought! You were there, so was I and our friends! Say all the lies you want but you’ll never convince anyone.”
His jaw clenches and he avoids my gaze. He leans back in his chair, staring out the windows. “Colson,” I sigh, slowly approaching the table. “Maybe the truth could help the lies disappear! If we’re honest then maybe the press will leave us alone!”
He shakes his head low, letting out a brief laugh. “I highly doubt that.”
I have a thousand questions but I’m aware none will go answered. He’s a lost cause. I’m in this alone I guess. Turning my back to him I return to my position by the window. Observing the worker bees swarming around the spaces below. The sound of Colson’s chair rolling back comes from behind me but I don’t even shift. Out of the corner of my eye, I see his figure in the reflection of the window beside me. My attention remains outside. He won’t give me the time of day so why should I treat him any better?
“You wanna know why I looked at you the way I did?” His presence hovers of me and he feels like a wall surrounding me.
“Please,” I mutter a subtle beg.
“I... I had this imagine of you in my head, pre-judgements. You’re supposed to be America’s Sweetheart, Little Miss Perfect! You told me you had been working for this for years, had drive and trails.” He confesses. “You’re not what I expected... It caught me by surprise is all.”
My eyebrows furrow close, “So you thought I was just some pretty face, goody-two-shoes, ditz? If it’s because my image, my past, you said so yourself it doesn’t matter!”
“No, no, that’s not it!” he runs his hand through his hair nervously.
Narrowing my eyes, I press further. “Why then?”
The door swings open and I straighten up before forcing a warm smile to my face. I step back from Colson before the person ever appears in the doorframe. One of Stephanie employees informs us that we’re free to go. Steph doesn’t want to keep me here all day and since I’m allowed to go Colson’s publicist is releasing him. I clasp my hand together, walking over to fetch my purse.
“Thank you so much!” I gush. “Have a good day and please tell Stephanie “thank you!””
The young intern eats up my pleasant expressions. “You too Miss Voss! Will do!”
The young woman shuts the door behind her and I return to the state I was in. Expressionless, I gather my belongings and Colson does the same. Checking my phone for any missed emails or calls I can tell he’s staring me down.
“Does it ever get tiring?” His tone is light, but I can hear the ounce of mockery beneath the surface.
My attention is locked on my phone as text after text pops up from Penelope. She’s more likely than not has seen all the articles and Twitter posts. I should call her and explain.
“Y/N!” Colson shout pulls my from my thoughts.
“Huh? Does it ever get tiring?” I restate his question back to him. “What exactly are we talking about?”
I slide my purse over my shoulder while stepping over to the door, leaving Colson behind. That is until he follows me.
“Your whole act.” He forces a fake smile and tosses imaginary hair over his shoulder. “The “happy go-lucky goody goody All-American girl?””
I scoff, eyeing him up and down. “You’re ridiculous. It’s not an act.”
I swing open the meeting room door, eager to leave here. My heels clink against the white shiny tiles on my walk to the elevators. After hitting the down button, I call up Blake now that I have some time to kill. She’s my oldest friend, I’m sure she sees right through all of the tabloids and is only checking in.
“Calling your boyfriend?” Colson mutters over my shoulder and I quickly move away.
“Don’t have one,” I answer plainly, waiting for Penelope to pick up.
He smirks and props himself up against the wall beside the elevator doors. I side eye him, all he does is smile all the time and he calls me out for acting so happy all the time.
“Can’t you find anyone else to annoy?”
He grins proudly, “sure I could. None would as entertaining as you though.”
“Geez,” I mumble under my breath.
I pace outside the elevators as I wait for one to arrive and for Penelope to answer. Classic of her to text me non-stop but not to answer when I call her back. The elevator doors open and I step inside, ready to get out of here. I hit the ground floor and Colson strolls in lazily not rushed at all. He checks the button and doesn’t add any. The doors shut then silence sits flat in the small space with us. My phone buzzes continuously, I check the name at the top of the screen.
“Frickin’ frackin’!” I clench my teeth together in a growl.
Colson’s eyes widen at my sudden explosion. Closing my eyes, I exhale to calm myself then bring the phone up to my ear. Smiling helps to fake enjoyment when talking to someone on the phone. Sometimes I can fool myself into thinking I’m not miserable during discussions.
“Finn!” I greet. “What’s new?”
My southern accent surfaces. I flip the switch whenever I speak to my family or friends back in South Carolina. I can’t have them thinking I’m not the same Y/N from Charleston. Colson eyes me with his eyebrows raised, surprised by my sudden transition. He makes fun of me in a whisper for my fake enthusiastic voice. I wack him on the arm and it only encourages him more.
“Hi ya Y/N, uh so ya prolly already know butcha face is everywhere along with this MGK fella...” Finn’s voice falters at the end.
I sigh and press my forehead to the wall. Finn asks me if any of what he has read is true and I instantly deny.
My tone goes timid, “who all knows?”
“Just us, Odelle, Greyson and Myself,” he assures.
A sense of relief rushes over me. I turn back around and Colson sends me a sympathetic look, it shocks me. Going from mockery to sympathy from him has my entire mood shifting.
“What ‘bout Momma or Daddy?” I ask, keeping eye contact with Colson.
“Nah, at least I don’t think they do,” Finn guesses. “I’m not entirely sure. Greyson is sayin’ they don’t. He’s the only one that’s home at the moment.”
“Heavens to Betsy,” I exhale deeply, looking up to the heavens. “Let’s hope to the high heavens they don’t. Thank you Finn.”
I go to hang up but he says one last thing. Bringing my phone back up to my ear I reply. “Sorry, missed that.”
My brother becomes stern on the other side, “do you and this guy spend tons of time together?”
I shift uncomfortably, preparing myself for the older brother advice I already see coming. “From time to time but I promise, we’re just friends.”
There’s a pause on his end, an unbearable pause. “I trust you Y/N,” Finn finally speaks. “It’s him I don’t trust. He’s not the best sort of guy. Ya’ll aint right for one another.”
I hope Colson can’t hear any of what Finn is saying. To keep him from becoming suspicious, I keep my replies indifferent. “Sure thing. Uh, talk ya later Finn.”
“Bye, talk to you soon.”
We hang up and I slip my phone into my purse.
Colson leans back onto the railing next to me. “Who was that?”
“My older brother, kinda overbearing,” I laugh nervously then bite my lip. My accent begins to subside again.
“I didn’t know you had a brother,” Colson remarks.
A faint smile appears across my lips thinking of my brothers. “I have two actually and an older sister. The order is Finn, Odelle, me then Greyson.”
Colson returns a kind and gentle smile. “That must’ve been nice to grow up with so many siblings.”
“It was.” I nod as memories flash across my mind. “Finn and Odelle were grouped together and so was me and Greyson since our age gaps are less.”
As we pass each level on the elevator there is a “ding.” Facing toward the doors again, I absentmindedly watch the numbers go down as we pass the levels. My mind wanders to the many memories I’ve made with my brothers and sister.
“Finn is about Sam’s age, so he likes to believe he’s almost a co-parent for me and Grey,” I describe with a pleased expression. “He’s the total opposite of Odelle.”
Colson genuinely shows interest, “how is she?”
“She’s a total wild card! We all joke that it’s every other kid. Finn and I are the rule followers. He was student body president, quarterback of the football team and still managed to graduate with honors. I’m nowhere near him on the perfect child spectrum but I’m supposed to be “America’s Sweetheart.” My parents eat that up. Then there’s Odelle, she’s the total opposite of Finn. My parents had to beg her to improve her grades so she could graduate. I remember being twelve, it was the middle of the night when I got up to get a drink. I went downstairs and saw her sneaking out of the backdoor. She made me promise not to tell our parents. I haven’t talked about it until today. There were days she’d fake being sick just to ditch school with her friends. By her senior year nothing had changed. She ended up graduating but my parents forced her to go to a college close to home so they could keep an eye on her. Her antics continued the entire time I was in high school. College for her was a playground. For some reason, I envied her. I still do. I suppose it’s because no one expects anything from her. She messes up, well, that’s Odelle for you. She causes trouble, just another day. For me, my parents have me up on a peddle stool. By the time I turned sixteen people out here started taking notice of me. When I reached seventeen the title of “America’s Sweetheart” popped up and from then on, I was longer a teenager. I had a role to play and an image to uphold. I could never make mistakes like Odelle. I have to be “perfect” constantly. Sometimes I feel like a doll, plastic. None of it is real.”
The bell rings for the floor. I comprehend the words escaping my mouth and snap back to reality. I revealed so much about myself while I was in that daze, private facts about myself that I’ve never spoken of before.
Straightening up and adjust my dress, I apologize. “I’m so sorry. I have no idea what came over me.” The doors slide open and I step out. “Good to see you Colson,” I rush out a farewell before speed walking towards the exit.
I mentally slap myself for all I confessed. If only Nicole found out, my head would be on a stick. My life, my background, every aspect of my being is supposed to be flawless. An All-American girl from South Carolina with a wholesome up brining is who I’m supposed to be. If word gets out that I’m not so perfect then… then I would be finished. My hand digs for my keys in my purse.
“Y/N! Wait up!” Colson jogs up next to me then steps in front of me, blocking my path.
“Colson, please....” I practically plead in a mutter, stepping around him.
He wraps his hand around my wrist, stopping me. “Let me buy you a drink!”
Workers around us walk around in multiple directions like zombies. I wonder if they’re taking notice. Hesitant, I narrow my gaze at me. The reason we’re in this mess is because we were seen with one another.
“I don’t think that’s such a good idea,” I admit and release myself from his grip.
I only make it a few feet before he’s in front of me again.
“Fine, no to a drink! How about we go get some coffee? Or tea? If you prefer tea!”
His chest rises and falls rapidly, his desperation is evident. The reason behind is desperation is still unknown to me, along with the reason he looked at me the way he did last night. Who is this mysterious man who stands before me? So many questions I wish to ask but I can’t get passed his eyes. Puddles of crystal blue settle on a white canvas. Confused beyond belief, for a reason unbeknownst to me, I accept. Could be my curiosity is getting the best of me.
“Coffee it is,” I give in to his request.
He grins ear to ear and steps to the side so we can leave side by side. “Unless of course you prefer we get tea!” he suggests, sounding a tad nervous.
Honestly I like both drinks but I prefer coffee. He holds the door for me and the bright sunlight of California weather strikes me.
“Nah, I normally drink a cold brew with a shot of espresso,” I describe.
He winces and pretends to gag. “Ew! That sounds horrible!”
“It gives you a boost in the morning! Nice and strong!” I laugh.
“You’re nasty!” He waves his hands in disgust.
“Eh, you’ve called me worse,” I laugh, unfazed by his insult.
He chuckles, “you’re not wrong.”
Our laughing dies down a little as we stroll over to the Starbucks. I peer up at him with a side eye. When our eyes meet we begin laughing again uncontrollably.

Based on this Headcanon list (x) : Part 1 Here! / Part 2 Here! / Part 3 Here! / Part 4 Here! <This is Part 5!>
A/N: As said, I switched to a headcanon list because we have 7 books to get through, and it will take years if I only do the blurbs. Oh, and if you are in the market for some cute pro-Weasley shirts, check out my 'Weasley Suprmeacy' shirt here!
Let me know if you want to be added to the tag list!
* It’s your third year at Hogwarts, Harry Potter’s second, and you’re having a pretty good year so far
* You’ve made your house team, and you’re doing pretty good in school, in fact, you’ve got a knack for potions and herbology
* “Good thing too or we’d be stuck up a creek without ya” Fred says grinning as he watches you show him how to make the simple “cure for boils” potion
* “And not sooner either, these things hurt more than you think” George complains, wincing every time he touches one
* “Well what did you think was going to happen when you tried to go into the girl’s changing room?” You ask with a sigh
* “In our defense we didn’t know it was the girls changing room, we just wanted a shortcut to the pitch”
* You hide a smile, that sounds about right
* Life is pretty good
* Until it isn’t
* “Enemy’s of the heir beware” the words leave your mouth in a murmur
* Your eyes trained on the blood-coated words on the wall
* You think you're going to be sick
* “That’s right you’ll be next mudbloods!” Draco shouts and immediately you feel two hands clasp both of your shoulders
* One is Fred’s and the other is George’s
* They insist on walking you back to your dorm
* “Really I’ll be fine, you should go check on your brother, Ginny was looking a little pale too” you insist but they keep pushing you forward
* “We can do that after you get back to your common room safely”
* If you’re Muggle-born they’re really protective of you over the next few months
* You’ve woken up to taping on your window more than once, yawning as you walk over to see who it is
* Only to see your favorite red-headed pair of doppelgängers
* “Couldn’t sleep” Fred says with a yawn
* “We were too afraid the heir of Slytherin would kill us in our sleep” George adds
* “Best we sleep here, so you can protect us and keep us safe” they finish in unison
* The next morning your dorm mates wake up to see them sleeping on the floor at the foot of your bed, drooling all over each other, wands clasped in their hands
* They absolutely refuse to let you stay in the castle for Christmas
* “Nope, no, no way in bloody hell,” George says defiantly
* “But I want-“
* “If you’ve got a death wish, you can just come home with us and eat mum’s cooking-”
* “So good you’ll go to heaven”
* They’re tugging you to the station before you can even protest
* “What about Ron?” You ask
* “What about Ron? He’s a big boy, besides it looks like those three are scheming-“ George starts
* “Schemings best left to the young ones, us old-timers have no place in it, best for us to go home and have some Christmas pudding, isn’t that right Percy?”
* Percy, who was only passing by gives you three a quizzical look before turning away with a shake of his head
* “Whatever nonsense you’re up to, leave me out of it”
* Fred turns to you with a grin
* “See even Percy agrees, leave the nonsense to the youngins’”
* Percy just keeps shaking his head
* “Come, Ginny, let’s sit somewhere away from them- don’t want you to be around bad influences”
* Their parents are thrilled to meet you
* “So you’re (Y/N)! We’ve heard so much about you-“
* So the twins talk about you at home huh?
* “- from Percy, he says your next in line to make prefect in your house,” she says patting you affectionately on the shoulder
* Percy nods from behind her
* “Cedric’s been recommending you to Sprout” He adds
* Your face burns and the twins grin behind you
* “Prefect (Y/N) I like the sound of that” George says with a mischievous grin
* “Don’t forget us when you’re rich and famous, soaking in the prefect bathroom like a big shot”
* You roll your eyes
* “Well since I’m such a big shot I guess I can overlook when you explode a toilet or two”
* The Weasley’s stay up until well past midnight for Christmas
* Molly knits you a matching scarf for the sweater she gave you last year
* “Well doesn’t it look dashing on you!” She says with a smile and she wraps it around your neck
* George and Fred are nervous you might not like it but you grin
* “I love it”
* George scrambles over
* “You want my scarf too?” He says already unwrapping his from around his neck
* “Take mine too, you look awfully cold,” Fred says
* There’s a Polaroid somewhere of you swaddled in five scarfs while Ginny and the twins laugh
* Percy is in the background looking disappointed- but one of those scarves is how
* At night, when the sleeping arrangements are all drawn up you’re with Ginny
* You lie side by side in her bed, you’re half asleep
* “Can I talk to you about something”
* You yawn and nod, not moving
* And then when she doesn’t say anything you say-
* “About Harry?”
* There’s another silence, but this one feels heavier somehow, and it wakes you up a bit
* “Just send him some chocolates for Valentine’s Day” you yawn patting her shoulder
* “Sign it with ‘your secret admirer’ if it makes you too nervous” you yawn again, feeling your eyes droop
* Is that why she’s been looking so sick lately? Too many nights lying awake at night thinking about a boy who doesn’t share her feelings
* “You know Ginny if something does nothing but cause you pain, and I know it’s not very Gryffindor-like, but you can just walk away from it yknow” you’re slurring, barely awake.
* “I can’t just walk away?” She asks and you nod
* “Of course you can”
* And then you fall asleep
* Completely forgetting about the conversation until it’s Valentine’s Day and you see Harry followed around by a singing valentine
* “So this is the fantastic advice you gave Ginny?” George asks, a teasing smile lifting onto his face
* “I told her to give chocolates! I don’t know a boy alive who doesn’t like sweets”
* “Well where’s our chocolate then?” Fred asks expectantly
* You look to George for some support, but he’s looking at you expectantly too
* “Oh I get it, all your chocolates are saved for pretty boy Diggory”
* You roll your eyes and shake your head while walking away
* What’s up with them and thinking that you have a crush on Cedric
* They do come back to their dorms with small bags of chocolate on their beds, just two pieces each
* But they smile like you gave them a lump of gold
* “Did you make them by hand?” One teases
* “Tasted like they were made with love, and all those warm fuzzy feelings” the other finishes
* You roll your eyes
* “You should just be glad the house-elf I found didn’t mind me taking a bit of chocolate”
* It surprises both of them that you actually did make them by hand
* They were really just teasing
* George is the one to make the first move
* “Well next time you go invite us too, I think it would be fun to learn how to make chocolates”
* George wraps an arm around your shoulders
* “We could give them to Snape and make him think he has a secret admirer,” Fred says with a grin, wrapping one of his arms around your shoulders as well
* “Send him a singing Telegraph and everything” George grins
* You shake your head and laugh, what a couple of bozos
* It is pretty funny to see Snape get all flustered though
* They get even more protective when Muggle-born students start getting petrified
* You’re never without one, or both of them
* “Looks like your bodyguard is here,” Cedric says with a teasing smile when he sees George waiting in the corridor outside your class for you
* You nod, moving to go meet him when you feel a gentle touch on your arm
* “Let him know that if he’s ever looking for a career change, I’ll gladly fill the spot” he ruffles your hair before you leave and you can see the teasing coming from a mile away
* But George doesn’t say anything when you walk over to him, walking together to transfigurations in moderate silence
* “So you and Diggory are pretty close” he finally says, breaking the silence
* You look up at him, his eyebrows are threaded together and his mouth is pinched into a frown
* It makes you think about the time you thought that maybe they wouldn’t spend as much time with you anymore when you were brewing the amortentia potion
* “Yeah but we’re closer,” you say bumping your shoulder against his arm, he laughs
* “That’s true”
* The mischievous glint in his eyes returns
* “I doubt he’ll feel the same once he finds out you drool in your sleep”
* You roll your eyes shoving him lightly which earns a laugh
* “I mean really (Y/N), it’s just a bit excessive innit? Most mornings your pillow is more drool than Cotten at this point, you should really get it checked-“
* You shove him harder laughing when he starts laughing
* “Big words from the boy who snores so loud his dorm mates left him floating on the lake”
* “It wasn’t my dorm mates, it was Fred and he did it to because I pretended I was him when I said something that upset Oliver Wood”
* Your eyebrows thread together
* Haven’t seen much of Oliver around now that quidditch has been canceled
* “What did you say?”
* George turns bright red and turns away
* “You’ve been spending an awful lot of time around that keeper for Hufflepuff lately” Wood was especially cranky as of late now that quidditch was canceled for the rest of the year
* And George doesn’t know why, but he gets so irked by it
* What does Wood care who he spends time with off the pitch? It’s not like he’s been taking it easy on you during matches or anything
* “It’s not my fault you don’t know how to talk to someone you’re attracted to”
* And then realizing how it sounded, and flushing red George claimed he was Fred
* He sounded like he was a jealous boyfriend or something
* It’s almost mortifying
* Almost
* “Nothing, don’t worry about it”
* And it’s the first sign for George that someone might have seen something in him that he hasn’t noticed
* But for now that doesn’t matter
* Because you’re here telling jokes like nothing’s changed
* When Ginny gets taken to the chamber you’re sitting with George and Fred in their dorm hugging them close
* You showed up outside their window on your broom, tapping on the glass until they opened it and enveloped you in a hug
* “Maybe it’s just one big mistake, and she’ll pop out any second saying she got lost on her way to the loo”
* “Maybe,” Fred says, but he doesn’t sound like he believes it
* “Everything’s going to be fine,” George says
* And you nod, because you really hope it does
* And by morning Ron and Harry show up covered in dirt with Ginny behind them who looks like she did at first
* With color on her face and vibrancy you haven’t seen on her all year
* “So good old Gildy was a fraud all along huh?”
* “Coulda fooled me”
* And then just like that you’re on the train home
* Joking with Harry, Ron, Ginny, Fred, and George about Percy’s secret girlfriend
* “It feels like it was just yesterday we were getting off the train and starting the year,” you say slightly wistful
* “Speak for yourself, Oliver Wood nearly killed me at practice with punishment drills for something I said apparently” Fred groans
* “Best to leave the adventuring to the young ones” George grins teasing you as you step onto the platform
* And just like that, it’s over
* And just like that it’ll be a new school year
* And the beginning of a new adventure

Rainfall | Poe Dameron x Male Reader
Tumblr media
Fandom: Star Wars Pairing: Poe Dameron x Male Reader Summary: Poe enjoys a morning with his husband.
Poe was woken up by the sound of heavy rainfall. It wasn’t uncommon for storms like this to happen on Yavin, in fact, they were pretty common. Still just because they were common didn’t mean Poe enjoyed them. There was movement from the other side of the bed and Poe felt arms wrap around him. “Sounds like a nice morning.” Unlike Poe, (M/N) enjoyed whenever it rained like this.
The two had moved to Yavin after the war had ended and the remnants of the first order seemed to be gone. Poe was glad to return to his homeworld and (M/N) was glad to be with the man he loved. Both had created a nice house not far from where Poe had grown up. The house overlooked a nice large lake and the jungle around them gave them the privacy that both had desperately wanted.
“Only you would say this is a nice morning,” Poe said. Looking at the window, he could see that it was dark out from storm clouds. The arms around him tightened a bit. “It just means I get to spend more time with you, my love.” Poe playfully rolled his eyes before getting out of bed. “Nooo. Come back!” (M/N) called out to him. Poe only smiled before pulling on some sweatpants. “Aw babe, you don’t need to put those on.” Poe only smirked more and ruffled his hair. “Yes I do, otherwise you’ll keep getting distracted...plus it’s cold.” (M/N) huffed before falling back onto the bed while Poe walked out of their room.
There was enough light coming from the windows to light up the house. The sound of rain was getting louder and Poe could tell the storm was picking up. Great, he thought, just what today needed. Moving to the kitchen Poe turned on the lights and began making breakfast. As he cooked, he turned on the holoprojector to get updated on what was going on. Nothing large was happening except talking about the reformation of the new republic thanks to what the First order had done years earlier.
Poe continued to make breakfast, the smell making his mouth go watery. It wasn’t long before he felt arms wrap around him and a head on his shoulder. “It smells so good. I’m so hungry.” Poe chuckled at his husband’s words and pressed a kiss to his forehead. “Good. It should be done soon. Want to make us some caf babe?” M/n let go and went to the caf maker. “Of course. Was needing some anyway.”
The two continued their morning routine. Poe making the breakfast and M/n making the caf. Finally, it was done and both of them moved to the table to eat. The table was by a large floor-to-ceiling window where they were able to see the rain pouring down. Poe had to admit it, while he wasn’t a large fan of the rain, he lived for moments like this with his husband.
“Oh look we got a message from Finn,” M/n said reading a datapad. “He says his training is going well. Rey’s teaching him everything she learned from Luke and what’s in the books. He says that Rey believes he’ll become a knight any day now with how fast he’s progressing.” M/n smiled, setting the datapad down. “I’m proud of him. He’s doing a good job.” Poe really smiled at that. Finn was his friend, one of if not his best friends, next to M/n of course. He was glad M/n and Finn had got along well. “Me too.”
They continued to eat, the rain still coming down. “So any plans for today?” M/n asked Poe. The pilot smiled at him. “Not really. Was thinking of working on the old A-wing, try to get it working again. Not really too much else I can do while it rains.” Poe said with a shrug. M/n nodded. “True.”
Then Poe remembered something. “OH! I forgot, my dad, invited us over for dinner tomorrow night. He said it was about time we stopped by for another visit.” He said with a laugh, shaking his head. “You know dad, we can’t say no to him.”
“Not that you want to either,” M/n said, taking a sip of his caf.
“You got me there.” The sound of thunder striking brought them out of their conversation. “Yuck. Doesn’t look like this rain is going anywhere soon.”
M/n nodded before getting up and taking the dishes to the sink. Then he returned to Poe and wrapped his arms around him once more. “I know you said you wanted to work on the A-wing but what do you say about cuddling on the couch with me and watching some holovids?”
Poe chuckled, stood up, and wrapped his arms around his husband. “I think...that sounds like an amazing idea.” He kissed M/n again before pulling him towards the couch.
Poe had to admit it. Perhaps rainstorms aren’t so bad after all.

Warning: Angst
A/N: Thank you @sillyrabbit81 and @amberangel112 for your help and encouragement. Also to my lovely readers, your comments on this story have been so engaging and encouraging :)
Chapter 12 – Jessie
Jessie had waited impatiently at the tree. They had fallen asleep together and she had been so eager to be wrapped up in his arms. But here she was waiting. It had felt like ages since she had arrived when she heard it. The sound of snapping jaws and deep desperate snarls. Standing, wondering if she needed to run, a wolf broke into the clearing. It wasn’t any wolf; it was Henry’s wolf.
“Henry are you ok?” she asked, watching carefully to see if it truly was Henry or if his wolf had taken control. But the look of anger and pain she saw in his eyes as he looked at her told her that this was Henry. This was the man she had grown to love; his feelings were clouding his mind right now and she knew she needed to be careful. He was unpredictable, what else could she do but offer a safe haven for him when he was ready.
She slowly knelt down, patting her lap, letting him know she was ok and that she was there for him. All the while she watched as he paced back and forth, each footfall a deliberate strike against the earth. Whatever had set him off must not have been good, she had never seen him in human form or wolf form this angry and in this much pain apart from that first night. Even then he had calmed the moment her presence had been seen. He continued to pace but his footfall grew softer, then he turned walking towards her. She could see his eyes no longer held the blaze of fire instead a pool of pain lingered. He laid his head in her lap, her hand automatically moving to caress him. She felt his body shudder beneath her hand as his breathing evened out.
At that moment she felt the shudder flow from his body to hers. She could feel his emotions, the grief, the pain and yet the comfort that she was giving him overshadowed all the other feelings. She closed her eyes focusing on the overwhelming sensations, breathing in the smells that surrounded her, the sounds of the birds chirping and then a snapping. Her eyes opened quickly searching the bushes until she realised the sound was coming from Henry. She stilled, not knowing what was happening, fear-fille her as she watched his limbs contort and change. Awe consumed her as she watched his human form appear, then heat crept up her cheeks as she realised clothes were not a part of the transformation.
You would think that seeing her lover in all his glory would make her desire him. And truth be told she did linger on his impressive organ between his legs, something she had felt many times but never seen. But all that was quickly consumed by the sound of Henry, his exertion evident by his laboured breathing and shuddering chest. Her hand tentatively reached out touching his hair as if he might break.
“Henry” she breathed softly, calmly. “Henry, are you ok? Can you tell me what happened?” His body curled up, shivering, his head turning to find her eyes. Not willing for him to see her fear she softened her features, leaning down and kissed his forehead. “It’s ok sweetheart, you’re safe.” Her whispers sounded as if they were shouted in the stillness of the forest. All the animals halted their sounds as if listening to their conversation.
He reached his large hand up to her cheek, touching her, as his horse voice broke, “I thought I had lost you, the forest would not let me reach you. I…”
Her hand braced his own against her face as she kissed his palm. “Shh, my love. It’s ok, your here and I am here. Nothing can harm us here.” They stayed in that embrace until their bodies calmed, their breathing gentled. Finally, the trees began to move again, the birds began to make their song as Henry shut his eyes and slept, his body exhausted. She smiled down at his face, the peace, when he was asleep, was something she had not had the privilege to witness until now. Her mind chuckled at the thought of him sleeping within a dream. She spent that rare time memorising the contours of his face. The way his nose was slightly crooked, his chin dimpled, his brow creased and the smile lines in his cheeks. For a short moment, she felt true peace, which gave her the determination that nothing would happen to her precious mate.
That morning she awoke to an empty bed, she could hear the sound of voices happy and laughing down in the kitchen. One more than she was prepared for, she walked down she saw Tom, Joe, Henry, and a strange man. However, it became very apparent who it was by the way that Joe was hanging off his body. This must be the allusive Dillon who she had spoken to on the phone but never met in person. He was everything opposite to Joe. While Joe had blonde hair, Dillion’s was black, where Joe was colour and bubbliness, Dillion was goth, his black clothing and pale skin accentuating his lack of sun. His profession was a gaming programmer who rarely left his house, so the fact that Joe had managed to get him to come out was amazing.
She stood for that moment and watched the banter, and friendship in the room. Even Henry was yipping as if he was joining in the conversation. Who would have thought that she would ever have this in her life? She saw that they had missed getting the milk, so turning she went outside. There, as usual, was the two bottles of fresh milk but what she saw next chilled her heart. A letter with a small poise of flowers sat up against the milk. She knew it wasn’t from Tom, so was it from Boyd? Not wanting to disturb the merriment inside she opened the letter.
Dear Jessie,
I know you were upset the last time we spoke, so I am willing to overlook your disrespectful behaviour. We have to talk, so you will meet me today just after lunch at the big tree in the forest. Come alone. I would hate for anything bad to happen to your precious wolf. And don’t think I haven’t noticed that Tom stayed over last night. If you want to keep him safe too, you will not let him know where you are going.
Our life together is going to be so special; I can picture you swollen with my children cooking in our kitchen. No need for you to keep your hobby working with animals, you will be too busy looking after me.
I love you Jessie and you will be mine.
Love
Boyd.
A shiver of fear ran down her back, not for her own safety but for that of her mate, and her friends. Stuffing the note in her pocket she picked up the milk leaving the flowers in the dirt and headed inside.
That morning she tried to enjoy the banter and giggles around her house. They had all decided to stay and keep her company. While Joe and Tom set about picking board games to play from the family cupboard, Dillon sat on his laptop in the living room. Henry was quietly watching her as she began making snacks.
“Come on Henry. Why don’t you go get the bag of chips from the pantry hmm?” A sparkle lit his eyes as he trotted off bringing back the Lays chips held daintily between his teeth so as not to damage them. “Go on, take them into the living room and give them to Dillion.” He tilted his head just slightly then nodded before heading out.
How was she going to get away with so much activity? Actually, it ended up very simple. After a morning of games and fun and food, they had settled into the living room to watch a movie. Jessie excused herself to go to the bathroom. After returning she noticed they were all preoccupied. Joe in Dillon's arms and Henry curled up next to Tom, where he had previously been turned the other way his head on her lap. Taking her chance, she slipped out the door and headed to her tree.
The walk that normally was filled with calm, instead anxiety was thrumming through her body. What was she going to say to him? How could she get him to leave Henry and Tom alone? As she stepped into the clearing, it was almost like a scene from her dreams, her tree, the wood filled with the sound of birds and other animals. But instead of Henry waiting at the tree, it was Boyd. Leaning against the tree, his tall, built body, no matter how appealing, held no enjoyment. Nothing like the fluttering in her stomach when she saw Henry.
“Well little lady, you took your time.” His rich voice sent the wrong kind of shivers down her back.
“What do you want Boyd? I made myself pretty clear the other night I do not want anything to do with you. So, you can stop this nonsense and give up.” Her voice held more authority than she knew she had as she tried to stare down the man.
Just like an animal, he seemed to pull up taller at the challenge. “Well now ain’t that a pretty speech, but you see I have the upper hand here. All it would take is a small word to the sheriff that your wolf tried to bite me, and he will force you to put him down. I can’t possibly imagine how heartbreaking it would be to have to do that yourself seeing as you are the only one qualified in this area. Plus, that little pansy of a boy that seems so infatuated with you, just one word from me to my boys and he won’t be able to get out of bed for months. And before you think running to his dad, he is backing me on this, he has no love for the boy.”
Jessie began to shake. What was she going to do? How could she even pretend to love this bastard? Boyd stepped closer just out of reach, spitting some chewing tobacco to the ground before he drawled, “"Now.. Come here little one, give me a kiss before I force it from you"
Trembling, she didn’t know what to do. She was ready to do almost anything, but the idea of kissing that filthy mouth and submitting to this animal was abhorrent. He took another step forward before she heard a deep throaty growl behind her.
Nooo!!!
What happened next all seemed to go by in slow motion. Henry jumping in between her and Boyd, the cocky grin on his face before he pulled a pistol from his side, and the sound of the gun going off.

💔Naga!Bakugou x reader
"Y/n has committed a horrible crime. She was found guilty of eloping with a monster," our elder's voice boomed over the crowd.
Y/n was my best friend, and my long-time Crush. I stood in front of the crowd looking at the body that was y/n. When the village found out that she was in love with a Naga, they killed her and now they placed her body here and covered her body with a white cloth, for all too see.
I looked around the crowd to see so many familiar faces. Her parents, her mother was crying oceans. While her father had nothing but disgust in his eyes. Some of her friends we're discussing what they thought. Some believe that she was tricked or manipulated into loving this creature. While on the other side they thought she was nothing but a w****.
I knew none of those things were true. I would know, I'm the one who told the others about her little secret. And now that was my greatest regret.
It all started 5 years ago, when y/n and I we're taking traded Goods back to our village. We were playing on the bridge between the cliffs. It was as nice game of I Spy. I wish I was paying more attention that day, because one of the wooden planks snapped and she fell right through.
In normal situations, she would have fallen to her death. But she was saved by that creature, the Naga.
He had spiky ash blond hair with red piercing eyes, and had a long red and orange tail like a snake. He jumped for her and saved her from falling to her death. As I got closer I could see it in her eyes. Not only was she thankful he saved her life, but that was when she fell in love with him. And something deep within me told me, this was not the first time the Naga met or saw y/n.
From that day on, she started spending more and more time in the forest than in the village. And she was an herbalist so most people overlooked it. But I knew where she was really going. I followed her one day into the forest, she did not pick plants and any herbs. She went to a cave, his cave.
No matter how hard she tried to hide all those hickeys on her neck. I knew they were there, but luckily no one else did. As the days went on I could feel my jealousy grow deep within me. Some days I would be in the forest and I see them together. Eventually I learned his name was Bakugou. But I'd see them together,
y/n in Bakugou's embrace. Her lower half of her body wrapped in bakugou's coils. I'd see him kiss all over her neck. I wanted to be the one to give her those kisses.
I can't hold my jealousy and any longer on that day. The day when bakugou showed up one day, near the edge of the forest, and in his hands was a small Palm sized hunk of sapphire. And he proposed to y/n, and took her from me. That day I told the elders and The Village. They were so Furious that they ambushed her when she came back from the forest. She had the most beautiful flower crown I've ever seen on her head that day. That day I'll regret the most, seen the girl of my dreams being murdered by the very people she healed.
" This wenches body will be burned at sunrise tomorrow, may she be forever damned in hell!" The elder spat.
The crowd dismissed as they went back to their daily routine. I went to the shack where her body was being placed for now. But when I got there, I saw him, Bakugou.
He was coming out of the shake with Y/n's body in his hands. He was trying to steal her from me again. Before I could even say anything or even scream, he slithered off into the forest with her. I grabbed my bow and arrow and I chased after him.
I followed him into the forest, and led me to a cave. Sneaking inside I travel deeper into the cave toy saw a large opening, and there he was, bakugou. In his arms a beautifully dress y/n, still lifeless in his arms.
"Y/n... Y/n wake up please," Bakugou begged as he brought her to a odd structure.
Looking at it I was able to tell it was some sort of wedding setup. Bakugou was getting ready to marry y/n, but this all happened. As he continued talking I didn't know what to feel I felt sad and awful. Although on the other hand I felt nothing but anger and jealousy at his words.
"Y/n please... I love you. I love you with all my heart," he sobbed as he tighed his hug on her.
His red and orange coils slowly tightening around her as well. Suddenly he started saying something , or humming in his native tounge.
As I listened I accidentally knocked something over alerting him. Bakugou quickly looked over in my direction. At first there was a look of shock and fear on his face, which quickly turns to anger, hatred and recognition.
"YOU!" He shouted at me.
"You're that bastard who couldn't keep his mouth shut! Why must you humans take everything from me! My family, my friends, my home, and know my wife," he said, seething in anger.
" I'll kill you, I should have killed you a long time ago!" He shouted as he lunged at me with full force.
I quickly is my bow as a way to block him. He pushed against my bow pinning me against the wall. He opened his mouth wide, revealing his long serpent like fangs. As he tried to reach over and chomp down on my neck.
I quickly grabbed a sharp Rock and sliced his face just missing his eyes. He quickly released me while he was in pain. While he wS distracted I quickly grabbed y/n's body and ran out of the cave. As I ran to the forest with all my might I could hear him hissing, and him crying out.
"GIVE HER BACK!! SHE'S MINE!! COME BACK HERE YOU BASTARD!" Bakugou called out into the forest.
I quickly hide behind a nearby tree, with Y/n in my arms.  Once I caught my breath, I started to run. Only to trip on a root and drop y/n watching her tumble down the hill. I tried to get up, that's what I heard him behind me. Before I could do anything, bakugou's coils wrapped around my neck. He lift me off the ground Till we were eye to eye.
"If y/n hadn't stopped me, I would have killed you that day on the bridge," Bakugou hiss.
I could feel his coil tighten around my neck. No matter how much I clawed at his serpent tail, it only tightened more. The edge of my vision started to darken, as my breath became more and more shallow.
As I looked bakugou on the eyes, I could see that his eyes looked at something past me. I knew it was y/n, as he immediately dropped me and slithered his way over to her. Once I was able to gather my breath. I quickly grabbed an arrow and ready to my bow, as I ain't where his heart. I took one last deep breath and fired my Arrow.
It's shot through the air pierced bakugou's heart. He cried out in pain as he tumbled down the rest of the Hill. He pulled himself over to y/n's lifeless corpse and pulled her into an embrace. His coils wrapping around y/n's lower half.
When I finally got down there I could see a smile on bakugou's face, as he looked at y/n one last time, before his eyes closed forever.
What all was said and done, I found no joy in this. What's my jealousy cleared I couldn't see any monster. All I saw was another being who was alone and fell in love with someone. All I felt was sadness and guilt. As I stood there I heard something in the Wind.
   "Bakugou~," it was y/n's voice.
I looked around and saw something near the edge of the forest. It was a bright silhouette of y/n. But she was not alone, she was with three other nagas. Two of them looked like bakugou's parents, while the third was a naga with spiky red hair and a red tail to match.
"Over here Bakugou," the red naga called out.
As I stared at them, Bakugou's silhouette rushed passed me and to
y/n. They happily embraced and y/n pulled Bakugou into a passonite kiss.
"I thought I lost you forever," Bakugou said in a breathless voice.
"You never lost me. Know we are all together," Y/n replied.
Put a smile they all disappeared into the forest never to be seen again. I wish bakugou and y/n Eternal happiness.

Hi, can you do an angsty fic for kuroo x reader? Doesn’t have to be nsfw if you don’t want it to be, but if you’re okay with it, please do.
forget me not (edited + rewritten ver. here)
(ft. tetsurou kuroo)
synopsis: your love for kuroo is like a forget me not - always there, but constantly overlooked.
This is very short and somewhat angsty (my heart hurts but I’m sure everyone has different tolerances for angst. I’m just a big baby). Thank you so much anon for giving me my very first request!! It was so much fun to write this. I hope you enjoy it :)
Tumblr media
When you first met him, you were insanely jealous of Tetsurou Kuroo. Being an overweight, chubby kid with your head always in books was hard enough. But it was worse when there was a smart and athletic kid as your neighbour, no less. You remember blatantly closing your front door in Kuroo’s face when he would stop by your house to invite you to play volleyball, right before muttering something about annoying know-it-alls who never gave up. You hated his idiotic face. Why couldn’t he understand that someone like you could never be friends with someone like him?
But he came by, every afternoon, the same dorky smile plastered on his face. And then on the eve of your twelfth birthday, you asked him to wait.
Tumblr media
In middle school, it’s hard to be friends with both girls and boys. You realised this very early on when the girls would shun you for hanging out with Kuroo and Kenma. Of course, you weren’t that fazed because the solution was simple: you could just hang out with the boys instead.
But as you rushed to meet them at the cafeteria, you heard the snickers of rowdy boys as they pointed and teased. Kenma looks uncomfortable, and you can’t blame him. You know very well how mean people could be and why sometimes being alone was much better than being vulnerable with someone else. It was why you and him clicked so quickly within days of meeting each other.
Kuroo stood up and waved, beckoning you over, the same dorky smile you were used to since elementary school plastered on his face. You hesitated only for a moment before walking over, but Kuroo had noticed.
“Don’t pay them any attention. They’re just dumb,” he said this loudly, his voice easily heard by those sitting at nearby tables. “You’re always welcome here. We both want you here,” he nudged Kenma then who jolted his attention from his food to us and quickly nodded in agreement.
It had been raining on the way home that day and the chill had seeped into your bones, but Kuroo’s words from earlier had already instilled a seedling of warmth in your heart in the form of a four leaf clover.
It was in your first year of middle school, when you finally understood what it meant to have all the hope in the word.
Tumblr media
In your first year of high school, you’re shocked at how many girls want to be your friend. You quickly find out it’s because of your close friendship with Kuroo.
“I didn’t expect you two to be so close! Can you introduce him to us? Pleaseee?”
It was always hard to say no, but Kuroo’s surprising popularity wasn’t what bugged you.
“Hey, Kenma,” you looked up from your book and stared at your friend as he tapped away at his game console. “Are people surprised when they see you’re close with Kuroo?”
“Huh?” He scrunched up his eyebrows and quickly glanced at you, almost as if to confirm he heard you correctly. “No. That’s stupid, why would it be surprising?”
Why, indeed.
It takes you almost a year to realise it’s because your personality doesn’t match his. Of course, you don’t come to this conclusion yourself. You had heard it amongst the many loud whispers that take place in the girls bathroom, and began to realize that it was true. You never really had understood the excitement that was associated with spreading gossip in the bathrooms, and you disliked it even more so when you heard your name being thrown around.
Girls like you aren’t meant for guys like Kuroo.
But who cares, right? That’s what you had told yourself then. After all, it was you, not them, who was close friends with him. And your silly little heart was content that way.
But in your final year of high school, Kuroo came to the rooftop of the school building where you and Kenma waited. It had been a tradition; every lunch, one of you would go buy bread for everyone. But that day, in the middle of spring, the cherry blossoms had bloomed, and Kuroo brought both bread and his new girlfriend to introduce to his two closest friends. You all exchanged pleasantries, you specifically avoiding eye contact with Kuroo, speaking mostly to his girlfriend, Akari, instead. You bonded quickly - it was hard to not like her when she was so open and honest and relatable. But even though you liked her as a person, your lips threatened to tremble when you and Kenma smiled at them both as you waved goodbye. The silence that follows their departure is deafening, because Kenma knows everything. He doesn’t say anything, because frankly, what’s there to be said? You don’t want to put him in an awkward position between you and Kuroo, so you take out your console and you both start playing together.
Soon, it’s the only thing you ever do during lunch breaks at school anymore.
Tumblr media
The mirror stands there, and you slowly avoid it, wrapping a towel around you before you pass it.
It really is a terrible thing, pointing out and magnifying your flaws in such a way that it's burned into your brain so you can never forget it.
Today, you were meeting Kuroo and Kenma for brunch after your lecture this morning. It was the perfect opportunity to skip breakfast.
The restaurant chosen was one they had frequented often. Kuroo and Kenma were already there by the time you arrived.
“So, what do you think?” Kuroo stared down at the box he had placed on the table and pulled at his collar. He was nervous and distracted, you could tell with the way he traced the outlines and shapes of his phone, wallet, and the envelope.
You realise within a moment that he wants someone to believe in himself - to tell him that he’s okay, that he’s doing great. That he’s making her happy. “It’s wonderful,” you break the silence first, and you can’t keep the awe from lacing your words even if you tried. It was such a beautiful gesture, you wanted to cry at the unfairness of it all. “Akari’s going to love it so much,”
Kenma follows suit and gives a nod. “It’s very much your style too. And your tastes match hers.”
There’s a light blush that dusts his cheeks and he clears his throat. Your chest tightens as you realize you haven’t seen this side of Kuroo in years. Since your high school graduation, probably. “Thanks guys. I’m so nervous,”
“Yeah, we can tell just by looking at you,” Kenma rolls his eyes and it lightens the entire mood of the table. It’s been a while since all three of you were able to joke and laugh like this. Like before - before Akari had come in and joined the group and all of a sudden, Kuroo had slowly begun to forget everything about you.
The waitress brings the menus around soon, and asks for your orders. Your stomach rumbles silently and you take a quick sip of your water. The thought of eating something and gaining weight makes you a little dizzy. You distinctly remember what happened the last time you stood naked in front of your mirror and you push the menu away. “Oh, I’m fine. I had a big breakfast,”
You let yourself forget about the reality of the here and now, and only for a moment, you imagine what you wished it was like instead.
You escape to a place where you’re finally enough for someone like Kuroo, and a small part of you jumps up to hold onto a slither of hope that dangles right above your fingertips. That one day, just maybe, it could be true.
Tumblr media
It’s raining when you receive the news. It’s not the light rain that we hope for on days we don’t want to leave the house - it’s pouring outside with dark thunderclouds. The sound of the rain beating down on your glass windows and doors is deafening.
“She said yes!”
Kuroo bursts in, laughing, his hair slick from the rain, and for a brief moment in time, you think he’s talking about something else. You’re transported to an alternate universe where he’s coming home to you. But then Akari follows suit quickly, her eyes bright and sparkling as she holds up her hand.
There’s a ring on her finger.
Your mug slips from your hands, but you don’t hear the shatter of glass. Instead you let out a delirious laugh, your hands coming over to cover your mouth because you really cannot believe you didn’t see this coming - god, you were so stupid. But what did you expect, really? This was real life after all.
They mistake your laugh for one of ecstasy and you find some relief in the fact that one of your closest friends now knows so little about you. Kenma comes around, his eyes worried as he sits next to you on the sofa. You didn’t even realise his arrival and you apologise before heading to the kitchen to grab a bottle and some glasses. You needed to numb the pain. They needed to celebrate.
Akari has already started recounting the entire scenario by the time you get back to the group and you realize you’re glad that you missed most of it. The unwelcome thought makes you feel terrible.
Kuroi drowns his glass, the telltale sign of his eyes being glazed over a clear sign that you needed to cut him off now. “You know,” he begins, staring right at you, his finger intertwined loving with his fiancée’s. “Up until I met Akari, I always thought it’d be you,”
Your heart stops. You hear a sharp gasp, and realize it came from you but you can’t bring yourself to even look at him. He mistakes your gasp as one of indignation and lets out a genuine laugh.
But he doesn’t understand that it’s the final nail on the coffin.
Akari stirs in his arms, and he carries her up bridal style, everything else forgotten, and claims that it was time to go home. He bids both you and Kenma goodbye and jokes about keeping an eye out for the wedding invitations soon.
You force out a laugh, but you’re so exhausted from pretending that you can’t help but wonder what would happen if you just didn’t.
Kenma shuffles awkwardly at the door after Kuroo leaves and places a warm, comforting hand on your head. His voice is soft as usual but missing the undertones of nonchalance that had quickly become a signature of his. “I know Kuroo said what he did, but you have to understand.. Kuroo, he.. h-he doesn’t really…” he trails off, his voice getting quieter and quieter. You know he means well - he wants you to move on and be happy with someone who loves you like all your friends.
You can’t help but take pity on him, and quickly offer an escape from the impossibility of trying to sugarcoat the ugly truth that continuously returned to tear at your heartstrings. “I know, Kenma. I’m not silly,” you chuckle and you hope he can’t hear the hollowness in it. Your voice strains with the effort to keep it even, and when you swallow, you can feel sharp needles stabbing at your heart. “Men like Kuroo were never made for women like me,”
And this time, you believe it.
Tumblr media
It’s 3am and I just finished writing this and my brain is an absolute mess. I’m half tempted to make a second part with a fluffy ending because I had to cut out so much stuff that I wanted to include, but I’m not sure yet. Sorry for any spelling/grammatical mistakes - this entire thing was written on my phone so I think there will be much more than usual but I will be going over to fix up all the mistakes tomorrow. Let me know what y’all think!! But for now, goodnight.

New Kid In Town | JJ Maybank Fanfic | Part Two: Drinks.
Tumblr media
They were seated at a table on the deck overlooking the water at Hurricane Jacks, it was busy, being the height of tourist season and the 4th being right around the corner; but the chaos around them just made JJ focus even closer on the topic at hand.
With drinks in hand they both sat silently, unsure who should speak first, so JJ sipped his beer as Kitty traced the edge of the cup with her finger and they just sat.
“So….” JJ started “tell me. She’s mine, right?”
She nodded, “J, I’m so sorry.” And then buried her face in her hands, but continued “Honest to God, I thought you knew.”
“How would I have known Kitty? You dropped off the face of the earth!”
“I called you so many times! I left you a message as soon as I knew in September. When I never heard back from you I just figured you didn’t want to be involved.” She was staring intently at the drink in her hands now, afraid if she looked at him she would burst into tears.
It was true. Kitty had lived the last five years believing that JJ knew about their daughter and wasn’t interested in knowing her. It hurt, but it hadn’t surprised her. What 16 year old boy wants to raise the product of a summer fling? Initially when she found out she was expecting she had no intention of continuing the pregnancy, she had always been pro-choice, and she still was, but when it came down to it, she chose Rosie and she’d never looked back.
“Wait, you said September?” JJ questioned
“Yeah… we hooked up in August and I found out a month later..”
“Oh shit…” he breathed out
“Yeah that was my reaction exactly”
“No no, I never got your message because I was stranded on an island in September that year! My phone got lost in the water and I didn’t get a new one until weeks after I got back”. He couldn’t believe that it was that chain of events, chasing Ward and the Gold and the Cross that kept him from knowing about this little girl that was his.
“Wait what the fuck…Seriously? Stranded on a deserted island? That’s what you’re going with for why you didn’t get my calls?” Kitty responded doubtfully
JJ held his hand up as if he were swearing on the Bible “Hand to God Kitty, I’ll get John B and Sarah to tell you about it sometime” he took another sip of beer and continued his line of thought
“I just can’t believe this. I can’t believe Marshall never even said anything to me.” He blurted it out harshly, slamming his fist on the table, but then he took a moment to think about the words he’d just spoken and how wrong he really was.
JJ wasn’t a single bit surprised that Marshall hadn’t clued him in to what was going on with Kitty, not after their conversation on the porch the day she had left.
“I take that back, I know why he never told me. He was protecting you, just like he said he would.”
“What? When did he say that?” Kitty questioned
“The day you left, I came back to your house to say goodbye but I missed you. Your dad told me that it was his most important job to protect you, and that’s just what he did. He kept me away to protect you… and her”
“Rosie” she spoke softly
“Rosie” JJ said back with a smile “tell me everything”
Kitty's face transformed into a huge smile “she’s incredible”
For the rest of the evening the two sipped drinks and ate while Kitty told JJ all about their little girl. She regaled the story of her labor and delivery, explaining how she was in math class when she first felt the contractions and how it had taken nearly two days to bring Rosie into the world, eliciting wide eyes and shivers down JJs spine.
“Holy shit” he said as he shook his head “I wish I could have been there, but it would have been so awful to see you in so much pain”
Kitty smiled and nodded, “it was truly so awful, but it was all worth it when I got to see her and hear her cry”
Kitty then shared photos of Rosie as a baby and tons of photos she’d taken nearly every day since she was born. In more than one photo JJ teared up, It was all so overwhelming and amazing at the same time.
As they wrapped up the night and walked back to the truck, Kitty stopped and faced JJ, addressing him directly, “JJ I want you to know that I don’t expect anything from you. If you want to go on living as you were, I completely understand. It’s okay. We’ll be okay”
JJ nodded, and looked at his feet. He felt ashamed, not knowing what he wanted. “This has given me a lot to think about. I need some time to process”
“Of course, one hundred percent, I totally get it. I just want you to know that this is your out, you don’t have to be involved if you don’t want to be, but you do have to make a choice.” She wasn’t feeling nervous or timid in this moment, she had to stand up and be the mama bear, “We can’t go back and forth and play games, this is her life, so if you’re in, you’re in, no backing out. If you’re out, you're out and we’ll go back to the way it was before, okay?”
JJ was too overcome with thoughts and emotions to give her a response so he just nodded and they stood still for a moment, letting the weight of the decision hang in front of them. “I can give you a ride home?” He asked.
“Sure” she replied, and off they went. He drove to her dad’s house without another word. They pulled up to the Sheriff's house and JJ peered out the window, it still looked exactly the same. In the last five years he’d made it a habit to drive past whenever he was on that side of town. He never told Kiara but he just felt like that was his way of checking in, even if he wasn’t actually doing anything proactive.
Kitty slid out of the truck and shut the door behind her, leaning in the open window and claiming the last word, “You just let me know, okay? If I don’t hear from you I’ll assume you’ve made up your mind”
She turned and made her way up the drive, the lights were off and he assumed Marshall had put Rosie down for bed already.
He had so much to think about, but he knew he’d never be able to sleep, so he put the car in gear and drove off. He drove for hours, making his way down the outer banks from island to island, and finally when he saw the sun starting coming up he turned around and headed home.

Setting The Stage
My hyperfixation is set back on fnaf again in anticipation for Security Breach, so I’ve decided to write my own interpretation on how the game might begin!
Summary: Gregory had always dreamed of going to Freddy Faxbear’s Mega Pizza Plex and meeting his heroes. But he somehow ends up getting more than he bargained for, and dreams start to turn into nightmares.
Originally planned as a oneshot but had to split it into two parts.Link to next chapter is down below! Also available to read on AO3 here!
Enjoy!
Walking into Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizza Plex for the first time was something that every kid in the world should experience, at least according to Gregory’s logic.
And it was that logic – and a lot of puppy dog looks – that just about managed to work on his mom. Because here he was, finally standing in front of the colorful neon sign with his favorite animal mascots welcoming him in.
It had taken a lot of begging and guilt-tripping but he wasn’t ashamed one bit, though his mother might have disagreed, especially when it came to the snivelling part. But hey, it wasn’t his fault she had worked late on his birthday, so she owed him. Big time.
He vaguely recalled her grumbling about having to dip into her savings for this trip.
So that meant that he only had today, and he had to make every second count.
“So...” a voice spoke up from behind him. “Am I finally forgiven?”
Gregory looked up to see his mom giving him ‘the look’, and to that he nodded profusely.
“Good. After today you can finally leave me in peace,” she said, giving his hair a playful ruffle as they walked through the large sliding doors and into the mall.
He decided to push it just a little bit further.
“Can I get a Freddy plushie?”
The little boy swore he could hear a vein pop.
“I already bought tickets for the meet and greet. Do you know how much those cost me?”
He shrugged.
“A lot, and it’s coming out of your college fund.”
“What if I don’t wanna go to college?”
“Maybe you won’t get to after today,” she replied, rubbing at her temples. “Fine. I’ll give you ten dollars and you can buy yourself something at the store when we’re done, alright?”
That was enough to cover a pencil, maybe an eraser as well if he haggled. But he didn’t argue.
Both Gregory and his mom were suddenly blinded when they entered into the main part of the building as bright neon lights bounced off of the high glass ceiling and right into their retinas. Only once they were able to adjust their eyes could they really absorb the true grandeur of the place.
Everywhere you looked there were people: from tired-eyed parents trying to find the next thing to distract their kids to enthusiastic parents who wanted to get involved in everything their kids were doing while filming it on their phone for their blogs. Then there were the snot-nosed teens who were bunking off school and several professional shopping guides with forced smiles wider than Moondrop and Sunrise’s combined. Everyone seemed to move in unison as the hall was filled with the sound of shoes squeaking against the polished checkered floors.
Topping it all off was a massive gleaming golden statue of Glamrock Freddy proudly posed right in the center, singing silently into the microphone as soft music and wacky adverts played in the background.
Suddenly Gregory felt very small.
“It sure is...big, isn’t it?” His mother said, not sounding so confident herself.
He merely nodded in agreement.
Her son-o-meter seemed to be finely tuned as ever as she gently grasped Gregory’s shoulder and gave him a light but reassuring shake.
“C’mon now,” she tenderly prodded. “We’ve got all day to enjoy the place so let’s make the most of it, huh? It’s not every day we get to go to Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizza Plex.”
This was true. Coming here had once been only but a dream. Now he was here, staring up at a brilliantly shining statue of Glamrock Freddy. And pretty soon he was going to be meeting the bear himself.
His hand absently went to towards his back-pocket before he made a fist as determination washed over him. Looking up at his mom, he nodded.
“And if I’m remembering right, I think I know the first thing on your to-do list.”
The boy had already grabbed her hand as he made a beeline for their first activity.
“To Fazer Blast!”
 xxx
Trying to imitate the pose of the Roxanne cut-out that was behind the reception desk, Gregory pointed his laser blaster at his mom as she attempted to fit on his vest.
“Could you stop fidgeting?”
“But I’m practicing-”
“Stop. Fidgeting.”
He pouted before she struck him with that look again, which he pretended not to notice as he gazed up towards the lady at the reception desk. She looked about in her twenties and was using one hand to push back her long sleek black locks away from her face every five seconds while her other hand typed lazily on a screen.
“So...do I just join a team or...?”
It took her a moment to even register that he was talking to her before she flicked her hair back again just to glare down at him.
“Sure, like, do what you want. It’s your game, you make the rules.”
She seemed to pause for a moment.
“You do, like, know the rules, right?”
Gregory wasn’t sure how to respond to that.
“Uh...sure?”
“Fantastic,” she drawled as she focused her attention back to her tablet. “Your session ends in fifteen minutes.”
His mother rolled her eyes and muttered something about, “kids these days”, but soon smiled and took Gregory’s shoulder as she walked him in.
“Just remember to have fun, alright? Screw the rules.”
“Really?” Gregory asked, his toothy grin twisting into something sinister as he got into the Roxanne pose again.
“Just...don’t run and remember to stay within the walls,” she added on quickly. “Can’t have my little space man getting lost now, can I?”
Gregory made a sound of disgust as he was pulled in for a kiss before she finally let him loose into the brightly colored arena. He couldn’t help but take a moment to stare up in awe as spotlights of purple, green and red shone upon the various props and fixtures that decorated the place.
In the center was a giant space rocket that was surrounded by planets with neon rings glowing around them. The cut-outs from reception were scattered about too, though now they were humongous. Gregory almost couldn’t help but salute the towering Freddy as he walked past.
He also noticed a room near the back walls. It was raised up to overlook the whole arena and was surrounded by green-lit pillars. It fit in with the theme of the room but also...jarringly stood out. Maybe it was a place for parents to watch their kids play, or perhaps the employees?
“Hey Grogery!”
That voice. That name struck fear into his chest as he swirled around to face a group of boys that had aimed their blasters right at him.
“Never thought we’d see you here,” the biggest one said with a smirk. “You sneak in through the gutters or something?”
“Hey... Bob,” Gregory casually greeted. Though it was hard to act so suave when he was trembling.
“It’s Rob.”
“Rob! Yeah...cool to see you too.”
Learning the names of his bullies from class had never been at the top of Gregory’s to-do list, but then again it hadn’t been at the top of theirs either, clearly. But God, why did they have to be here of all places? Of all days, even?
“Nah, his mom probably got him in here with all that hooker money she earns!” The skinny one snorted, making them all burst out into laughter.
“She works at the hospital,” Gregory weakly argued.
“Not what my dad said!” Rob hollered, still rubbing tears from his eyes.
“So, what, is your dad cheating on your mom?” He sniped back with a sneer of his own.
His grin soon disappeared though when they all suddenly stopped laughing and a beat of silence followed, save for the distant laser blasts sounding off around them.
“The hell did you just say to me?” Rob asked, his voice dangerously quiet. If his brows knitted together any tighter then those pimples on the bridge of his nose might pop at any given moment. Gregory grimaced at the very thought.
“N-nothing! Um...I mean- it's technically not cheating if your parents are divorced, right?”
Rob positioned the blaster in his hand not so much as to aim it, but rather throw it.
“Like I said, my mom wouldn’t even do that!”
The pimples popped.
With that, Gregory legged it before the gun could smack him in the face. He dashed between the walls as the angry voices behind him grew distant, he almost felt bad as he climbed through the holes and bumped past people, but hey it was like his mom said, screw the rules, right?
However, it looked like the rules were starting to screw him when he smacked into a dead end. The black wall was too high for him to jump over and the only way out would be to re-trace his steps, which meant...
“C’mon Grogery!” Rob’s voice taunted through the luminous hall. “Let’s see how many knocks to the head you can take before you bleed.”
The boy swallowed a hard lump down his throat as he backed himself up against the wall and looked up at the Roxanne cut-out that towered above him, aiming her blaster with such confidence and attitude. With a deep breath and a firm nod, he did the same with the hope that getting them disqualified might save him.
If not, at least his mom was a first-aider.
“Hey...” A soft, almost girlie voice laced with a mechanical tone called out. “In here.”
Gregory’s head snapped to the right as a hand – or was it a paw? – beckoned him into a dark corner.
“Hurry up...!” The voice urged, and before Gregory could question anything, he saw four shadows creep around as the sound of footsteps thundered towards him, forcing him to make a snap decision and dive into the darkness, getting caught by a pair of skinny, furred arms.
“Shit, where did he go?” Rob shouted as the group gathered where Gregory had been standing just seconds before.
“Looks like he dropped his blaster,” one of them said as he picked it up. “Maybe he climbed the wall?”
There was a sudden yelp as Rob smacked him upside the head.
“Don’t be so fucking stupid, he’s tiny. No way in hell he’d be able to scale that.”
Gregory stiffened as Rob suddenly turned in his direction, but he felt the stranger put a hand on his head, and strangely enough, it calmed him down.
“...C’mon, he’s gotta be around here somewhere,” Rob finally said, pulling the group away. “He can’t hide forever.”
After a few moments of waiting, Gregory let out a breath he didn’t even know he’d been holding.
“Bullies are just the worst, huh?”
Almost jumping out of his skin at the sudden chipper voice cutting through the tense atmosphere like a knife, he glanced up with wide eyes as the figure gave him a little pat on the head.
This was obviously a girl but with the shadows enveloping her it was hard to tell exactly...what she was.
He could make out a pair of tall ears so...a rabbit? Gregory couldn’t remember any animatronics other than Freddy, Chica, Monty and Roxanne, as well as Moondrop and Sunrise. Was this a new character?
But what kind of bunny would have such piercing red eyes?
“My name’s Vanny,” she greeted. “What’s yours?”
Feeling slightly relieved that she had finally let him go, he cautiously stepped out and looked around to make sure he was in the clear before turning to face her.
“...Gregory,” the boy timidly answered, still feeling a bit unnerved.
“What a swell name! It’s nice to meet’cha,” she said with a small bow, which unveiled a few more features like a bright blue bow tied around her neck, and an unnaturally wide toothy grin plastered on her patched face.
What’s more, she didn’t exactly move like a robot, despite sounding like one.
“Are you new?” Gregory asked, causing Vanny to tilt her head.
“Huh?”
“I’ve never seen you in the show before and...” he paused, knowing his words had already gotten him in trouble today.
“And what?” she prodded.
“Well...you don’t really look like an animatronic.”
“That’s because I’m not!”
Gregory flinched at her overly cheerful tone and stepped back as she kneeled down to his level.
“Can I let ya in on a little secret?” Vanny asked, cupping her hand to her mouth in a poorly disguised whisper.
“Sure...?”
“I wanna be in the show. Like, I really really wanna be in the show. That’s why I made this,” the rabbit gestured to herself in an overly dramatic way; caressing her ears and cupping her face. “But I gotta prove myself first.”
“Prove yourself?”
“Yup!”
Gregory raised an eyebrow when she didn’t elaborate further, but decided to put it to rest as he really wanted to get out before Rob and his goons came back.
“I know a shortcut outta here,” Vanny offered with a tilt of the head, as if reading his mind. “Just take a couple of rights and a left and you’ll be as right as rain! Want me to show you?”
“T-that’s okay, I should be good,” Gregory replied with a smile, though it slowly turned into a frown when she didn’t answer back, choosing instead to just...stare at him, her head still tilted, almost as if she were deep in thought.
“But...thanks anyway...?” he weakly offered.
This seemed to snap her out of her trance as she nodded vigorously.
“No problem! And don’t worry, if those bullies come back, I’ll give ‘em a dose of Moondrop’s sleepy candy. That oughta slow ‘em down!”
He had heard of that stuff, but couldn’t for the life of him understand why kids would want candy that would put them to sleep. Nevertheless, he nodded and thanked her again before turning, and hurrying away, a soft giggle echoing behind him.
 xxx
“Where on earth have you been? It’s been thirty minutes!”
Gregory was still a little shaken up by the time he had reached the exit, so much so that he had forgotten that he had been on a time limit.
“Sorry, mom...” Gregory muttered sheepishly as she looked him over.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
Glancing back towards the arena, he tried to see if he could spot Rob’s gang still wandering about in there.
“Did you see a group of guys come out by any chance? Older than me. Kinda ugly...”
“Now you’re answering my question with a question,” his mother said with a sigh. “But no. Why? Did something happen?”
“No!” he blurted out, making her give him that look again. “We were just...having so much fun but then I uh...I lost them. Just wondering if they left without me or something.”
Her expression softened a little. He hated when she did that.
“No, sweetie...but I’m sure they won’t be far, should we go look for them?”
Gregory grabbed her hand and started pulling her away. “It’s fine! The show’ll be starting soon, right? We can’t miss it!”
“Okay, okay...!” she chuckled as he dragged her. “But first we need to hand your blaster in.”
He stopped then, inwardly cursing at himself before smiling sheepishly up at his mom as she narrowed her eyes at him.
“You lost it, didn’t you.”
Her tone suggested that it wasn’t a question.
“Yep.”
He yelped when she was suddenly the one dragging him away.
“Well, we best make ourselves scarce then, besides we can’t miss your big show, right?”
Gregory grinned. “Screw the rules?”
She smiled back. “Screw the rules.”
 xxx
They had made it to the main stage before the show began, but there were already big crowds congregating near the front to get the best view, and Gregory was having none of it.
His mom kept apologizing to the angry faces and pointed looks as he towed her through the mass of people to get to the front, ignoring her when she grumbled about having to teach him some social skills.
Gregory drowned everything else in the auditorium out as his wide brown eyes focused on the stage, even trying to balance up on the tips of his toes to get any kind of glimpse of brown, green, pink or purple. He had waited so long for this moment, and nothing more mattered than the next hour.
Gregory wasn’t ashamed to admit that he squealed a little when the lights died down, it was just as well that every other kid in the auditorium screamed too, resulting in the kind of high-pitched noise that would make a banshee cringe.
“Hello ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!” A mechanical voice greeted over the speakers. “Welcome to Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizza Plex! Are you all having a fantabulous time?”
The crowds erupted once more.
“Rockin’!” Gregory gasped as a rough female voice took over. "Y’all ready to get your glam on?!”
“Oh Roxanne...” a more feminine tone scolded. “Now you’ve given us away. Again.”
Gregory’s smile grew wider, he knew this whole skit, next up would be-
"I think we’ve kept ‘em waiting long enough, gals,” a graveled voice boomed out from the speakers. "Whaddya say, Freddy? Should we give the kids what they want?”
The little boy almost couldn’t contain himself at this point.
“I say let’s rock out!”
The curtains suddenly swung open to reveal the animatronics in all their shiny, glittering glory.
They were all 80’s themed, of course, to fit in with the aesthetic of the mall. Glamrock Chica had the typical pink leotard with green leopard print leg warmers; very popular with the girls. Roxanne Wolf was more unconventional with a striking red outfit, piercings and the mascot for the mall’s race course; she appealed to quite a wide range of people. Montgomery Gator was more for the chads as he had a rough and tough attitude with a love of golf, but Gregory did admire his red mohawk and star-shaped shades.
Then there was Glamrock Freddy. The mascot of the Pizza Plex. He didn’t really have a gimmick as such but was incredibly popular just for how great he was with the children. The other animatronics were good with kids but Freddy was the one who seemed to pay the most attention to them, whether it be sitting down and listening to a kid’s story, accepting gifts from them to even giving them gifts of his own free will – mostly a plushie of himself.
Management were irked by this odd behavior at first but when they saw how much cash he was raking in from meet and greets alone, they decided to leave it. Why fix it if it ain’t broke, right?
As they burst into their first song, with Freddy singing into his mic stand and the other three playing keytars, Gregory didn’t even notice when his mother shook his shoulder and told him that she would have to take a phone call but would be back as soon as she could. There were some instructions on where to meet if she didn’t make it back by the time the show was finished but the words fell on deaf ears as he bounced and sang along to the lyrics he had spent so painstakingly long to learn.
By the fourth or fifth song, the crowds had started to dissipate as parents took their children away to browse some more shops or to go to the food court for lunch, but Gregory stayed until the very end, cheering and whooping when the animatronics did their final encore and bowed as the curtains were drawn to a close.
Fearing his chest might explode from excitement, the boy took a few moments to breathe as he tried to calm down from the buzz of electricity that was jolting through his body. The past hour had gone and went so fast that he could hardly process any of it, all he knew was that it had been the happiest moment of his life.
With a huge grin, he watched as the robots were escorted off stage by staff and taken to their individual show rooms for their meet and greet sessions. Lines were already starting to grow long.
It was only then that Gregory realized that his mother was gone. He looked around with a frown, she had said something about a phone call but...that had been half an hour ago now.
‘She must be waiting at the show room for me,’ Gregory concluded, beaming at the thought of finally meeting his hero in the flesh. Or...plastic.
Shaking his head, he made a beeline past Chica’s room, where mostly little kids were sitting on the floor watching the animatronic as she played them a song while others had started a food fight with the leftover pizza and soda cans that had been lying around the room, making the parents and staff grimace as they tried to break it up.
Monty’s room was a little more organized and catered more towards older children as the gator showed them how to get a hole in one with a little golf stand while others played on the arcade machine. This reminded Gregory that the golf course was next on his list.
Roxanne’s room was very high energy as the wolf raced around with the other kids with driving wheels in their hands while making engine noises. Though when one tripped up, she immediately halted and gently picked the child up, reassuring him that “Even the most rockin’ superstars get hurt sometimes!” and carried him into the back area to where the medical staff resided with a worried mother in tow.
Stopping to catch his breath, Gregory finally made it to Freddy’s room, gaping slightly when he saw the queue nearly reaching the end of the walkway. He couldn’t even see inside due to the mass of people gathered at the curtains, forcing him to back up a bit and climb up on a bench just to be able to get a look in.
The room was painted red and blue to fit in with Freddy’s color scheme and decorated with bright lightning bolts and portraits of the bear himself. It was also the least cluttered as there were only a few bowling bowls, party hats and – of course – plenty of plushies to give away. But what caught Gregory’s eyes were the assortment of colorful drawings that had been halfhazardly pinned to the wall next to the make-up mirror.
It was true then; he really did collect kids' drawings!
Reaching into his own back-pocket, Gregory pulled out a crumpled piece of paper and opened it up, smiling a little when he looked upon his own masterpiece. All the animatronics were singing on a stage on top of the whole world, with Freddy towering over them wearing a crown and rainbow cape because why not?
It had taken him hours and an absurd number of crayons that he had ‘taken’ from his classroom, so a selfish part of him hoped that Freddy would pin it above the rest.
A flurry of movement in the crowd suddenly caught Gregory’s attention as the stewards moved them aside to let the animatronic move in. He felt himself get giddy when the bear greeted everyone and gave them a sign of the horns with his clawed hand, to which all the kids mimicked, including Gregory from all the way in the back.
As the queue started to move along, Gregory couldn’t help but start to feel impatient. Where was his mom? He thought she knew how important this was to him.
Forgiveness was suddenly starting to come in very short supply.
With a cross of the arms and a small pout, he watched as Glamrock Freddy took photographs, played with kids and even recognized a regular and accepted a drawing from her, praising her for becoming more talented every day.
Gregory’s chest tightened up a little at that.
Frowning down at his own scribbles, he didn’t even notice the tall figure hiding behind the golden statue of Roxanne that was trying to get his attention.
“Hey...! Hey Gregory!” A familiar voice hissed.
Startled, he turned to see that tall rabbit lady from earlier waving and beckoning him over. Blinking, he took a moment to look around to see if anybody else had seen her, half-wondering if she was some kind of hallucination at this point. When she beckoned again, he tentatively walked over.
Once again, she was hidden in the shadows, but the overhead lights made it a little easier to see more details of the suit, like the stitches that barely held the mismatched creams and beiges together along with a few patches of crosshatched red. It was like the whole thing had just been thrown together.
“Uh...hey...”
It took him a moment.
“Vanny?”
She gasped and gleefully put her hands up to her grinning mouth.
“You remembered!”
He forced a grin, trying to ignore the bristling hairs on the back of his neck.
“Sure.”
She paused and knelt down.
“What’s wrong? You look a bit down.”
This caught him by surprise.
“Huh? No, I’m fine. Just...waiting.”
Glancing back, he could see the crowds starting to dwindle as time went on, but still no sign of his mother.
“Ooh! What’s that?”
He looked down to where she was pointing and held up the piece of paper that he had been clutching a little too hard.
“It’s...um...just a drawing I made...for...Freddy,” he meekly replied, his cheeks heating up.
“Oh wow! Can I see?”
The very question he was afraid of. But she was already holding out her hand, so he couldn’t just say no.
She seemed to study it very closely when Gregory handed it over. He started to wonder if she was having to squint through the costume’s red eyes just to be able to see it.
“This is so good, Gregory!” She gushed, holding it up as if to show it off to everybody else in the mall. “You’re super talented! Are you gonna be an artist when you grow up?”
He looked down in embarrassment but couldn’t help but smile at the compliment. Despite how weird this lady was, she actually seemed pretty nice.
“Um...I dunno. I like drawing so...maybe.”
“You should definitely show it to Freddy, I bet he’d love it!”
Gregory perked up at that, but frowned again as he looked back over to the show room.
“I want to but I can’t yet.”
“Why not?” Vanny asked. “Ya nervous?”
That was true but he wasn’t about to admit it.
“My mom has the ticket for the meet and greet but...she had to take some kinda phone call and hasn’t come back yet.”
“Hasn’t...come back,” she repeated.
As Gregory watched kids and parents come and go, he hadn’t noticed that Vanny was staring right at him until the silence between them grew uncomfortably long. But as he turned back to look at her, she stood up and offered her hand.
“I know a way you can give it to him.”
A little perturbed by her sudden shift in tone; he looked at her hand but didn’t take it.
“Uh...how?”
“The VIP room, silly!” She said, her chirpy voice returning once more. “You know that one up at Fazer Tag? I saw you looking at it earlier.”
The one that was high up, he remembered. But... had she been watching him that whole time?
“That’s where Freddy and the others go for the secret meet and greets, where they give you their undivided attention.”
Gregory raised an eyebrow.
“I... didn’t even know that was a thing.”
“That’s cuz it’s secret!”
Okay, well that made sense.
“Usually only the rich kids get to go there but I think you’re much more deserving, Gregory,” she said, holding out her hand once again. “You only get today, right?”
The boy looked over once more. Freddy was waving goodbye to the last of the children as the stewards drew the curtains. He had missed his chance.
He looked back up at Vanny.
“What about my mom?”
The rabbit tilted her head. “I’ll notify the staff so they can let her know, then she’ll come pick you up when you’re ready, okay?”
There was a moment of hesitation but he knew she was right. He only had today and nothing was going to stop him from getting what he wanted.
Screw the rules.
With a nod, Gregory took her hand and let her lead him away to the Fazer Tag arena, not noticing that his drawing had slipped from her grip and she had let it fall into a crumpled ball as they walked away.

About crosshair. Again lol
Regardless of his scar not lining up with chip scar or the headaches or “soldiers follow orders” again. Or him without a chip being a liability to the empire. I just don’t buy his personality change in the end. I’m the pilot episode they hammered it over our heads it’s very unlike him to follow orders. He said himself “empire or republic, what’s the difference?” But now in the end he cares about the empire protecting the galaxy? Responds to hunter his choice is “soldiers follow orders”? Wtf, really? So he genuinely believes his only personality is being a soldier now? when it’s been established in both in cw and tbb that cf99, including crosshair only cared about completing the mission. I get that people change but not that abruptly especially if we are to believe techs “unyielding” description of him to be true. Echo is the one true soldier of the group. He keeps repeating to hunter “we are soldiers not smugglers”, “there is no other way than being soldiers” etc. but he is clearly loyal to the republic. And I never saw echo and crosshair to be similar in that
So yeah , I think it’s very out of character for crosshair to just see himself as soldier and being content with following order or being a pawn(which he must realize he is cause he’s not dumb) especially with his mega inflated sense of self importance. Just my two cents
Crosshair is a complicated character! There's a lot to discuss :D
That's a good point though. And yeah, as acknowledged the quick personality change could be chalked up to chip influence if it's still having some kind of impact... but if it's not, then what do we make of that?
Putting aside the "It's just bad writing" possibility, I think there's a key difference between not following orders and not being loyal to the organization giving those orders. They're not necessarily the same thing, though it's easy to lump the two together. Yeah, we see early on that the Bad Batch isn't known for doing things the "right" way. Rex and Jesse are pretty unsure about their methods when the Batch first shows up in TCW. In the pilot Tech has a line about how "We're more deviant than defective" emphasizing that they tend to do things differently. Crosshair's sudden willingness to follow orders to the letter, not just in spirit, is questioned during their time in the cell, etc. So yeah, they don't obey the rules, but I don't think that's because they're not loyal. They're not refusing orders because pff, screw the Republic/Empire, who cares about those guys. They're refusing orders because they recognize that their way of doing things—the unconventional methods that deviate from the standard clone playbook—is more likely to net them, and the Republic, a success. They seem to be against the Republic's rules because they want the Republic to succeed, recognizing that their way is the best way to get that. Wrecker takes great pride in their successful missions, keeping tally marks on their room's wall. Crosshair is constantly pointing out how the higher ups called them in because the Regs couldn't complete a mission, likewise emphasizing his pride in being needed. When Rex and Hunter finally start bonding, it's through Rex's decision to charge the droids head on, precisely like the Batch would, rather than following the "correct" strategy of carefully picking them off from the tree line. They bond over the understanding of, "Yes. This is the best way the Republic wins." Perhaps most significantly, the Batch was still willing to complete missions for the Empire up until they were ordered to kill civilians. Killing Jedi resulted in an acknowledgement of how messed up that was... but no solid intent to leave.
All of the above is important because it establishes the Batch's need to be loyal to something other than themselves. The kind of loyalty that is shown through intense, life-threatening acts of service. Hunter's line about them being loyal to each other rather than some Empire, while true, is a simplification. Their loyalty to the Republic and their loyalty to one another overlap in many, many significant ways, simply because the Batch was created for the Republic. They have literally spent their entire lives living, breathing, fighting, and almost dying for the Republic. Their core identities stem from the Republic's desires: skills they want them to cultivate and even personalities they want to foster, if Tech's theories are to be believed (that conversation with Wrecker in the mess hall). The loyalty the Batch feels, those bonds they formed over the years, stem entirely from completing missions for the Republic. Their love for one another is, at least at the start, a product of the Republic's desire for Good Soldiers. And yeah, they sometimes did things the Republic technically didn't like, but it was always in service of achieving the Republic's end goal, whatever that may have been. They were very good soldiers, just soldiers that understood the value of creative thinking. "You want me to reach this location? Of course! I'll reach it by cutting across the grass, despite you asking me to follow the path already laid out. But our goal and the Regs' goal is exactly the same: fulfill your mission. That's our purpose in this life."
And then the Republic became the Empire.
Every one of these characters has a need to serve some higher purpose, to complete missions for the benefit of another. Overlooking the very literal ways in which they may have been genetically predisposed towards this (like the chip), and the cultural brainwashing that went on the second they were born (this is your duty, this is your purpose, this is all you exist for), this is, simply put, all they've ever known. Though it's possible to walk away from that need, it's by no means easy. So what saves the majority of the Batch from falling into that "Republic, Empire, what's the difference?" thinking out of a need to serve someone?
Omega.
I think it's crucial that the second they abandon one mission—killing civilians for the Empire—there's already new mission waiting for them to focus on instead—rescue and protect Omega, indefinitely. That's Hunter's thinking. We're not going to do A, we're going do B instead. All they did was put that single-minded focus onto a new target, but the focus—the need—still exists. And we see that throughout the first season, where everything the Batch does is in service to Omega. Their life decisions revolve entirely around her, from very small things (here's your own room on the ship) to the much larger (we need to stay on the move to help you avoid bounty hunters, even if we may want to find someplace to stay). The purpose of a soldier has been mapped onto the purpose of a parent, with the new, ongoing goal being "Raise Child" as opposed to "Win War." Putting aside for the moment the fact that this is an action-adventure show and thus exciting plot has to happen, I think it's notable that no one suggests non-soldier-y things to help them make money. Tech isn't offering his intellect as an easy way to make credits, nor Wrecker his strength. No one is seriously thinking of a planet they could hide out on, even from bounty hunters, so as to raise Omega in peace. They are still, fundamentally, the people they were during the time of the Republic, people who need to fight for something. Literally fight. It's just now they're chaotically fulfilling missions for Cid so they can give Omega a halfway decent life, rather than chaotically fulfilling missions for a general so they can give the Republic a chance at winning the war.
Omega is the new focus, the new Republic stand-in, but what happens if she's not an option? (Would have been really interesting to see what the Batch did if she'd actually left with Cut.) Without the chip affecting his thoughts, I fully believe Crosshair would have left with the others. Why wouldn't he? That's his family and, per Hunter's orders, Omega is the new mission. But the chip ensured he missed that chance and by the time he came out of it (if he came out of it), it was too late. His squad was gone, they never came back, and Crosshair needs to find a new place in this galaxy, just like they did. Except his options are far more limited and suck a whole lot more. I can't recall anything that implies Crosshair thinks the Empire will save the galaxy, but he does think it's going to control it and he's looking for his own purpose in this new life. Why not find purpose in the winning side? He can serve the Empire just like they served the Republic. He can serve the Empire just like his squad now serves Omega. The need to belong somewhere, to have that larger goal, outweighs those pesky ethical issues, at least for now. Though to me the "Good soldiers follow orders" really, really still sounds like chip influence, it can also be read as a broader acknowledgment that yes, they are fundamentally soldiers and yes, they do need orders of one kind or another. They need that mission. That goal. That purpose. Someone who helps to guide them in this new, crazy galaxy. Yeah, they've always bent and gotten creative with the orders, but until 4/5ths of them left the Empire, they'd never ignored the orders as a whole. None of the Bad Batch went, "I'm not taking this mission because the Admiral was an asshole to us about it and I don't feel like it :/" They suck up all the hard parts—the awful treatment, the danger, the general difficulty—because they have a goal to fulfill. They live for having a goal, literally in the sense that this is what they were made for. The Bad Batch is still doing that with Cid, putting up with bad treatment, dangerous situations, and general difficulty because they have that larger goal of taking care of Omega. Crosshair missed out on that, so he latched onto the Empire instead. Which circles right back around to previous points that if the Batch had tried to rescue him and/or been more welcoming when offering his return, Crosshair likely would have joined in on the Omega mission too. It's the best new purpose for all of them.
Crosshair sees himself as a soldier because, right now, being a soldier of the Empire is the only way he can find the purpose and belonging that the rest of the Batch maintained with each other and Omega, back when he was left behind. No, he's not dumb, but the logistics of the situation outweigh his knowledge that things are far from perfect. Do we think the Batch doesn't also realize that Cid is continually taking advantage of them with 70/30 splits? Of course not. But they need a way to survive and, right now, this is it. Crosshair likewise recognizes that the Empire is treating him as a pawn—I think he was in denial prior to the bombing, but now he definitely knows—but what other option is there? Not his squad. As discussed, he feels strongly that he's no longer welcome with them, with good reason. The only other option is to go off on his own, something that's incredibly foreign to clones who were bred to serve that higher purpose alongside many, many brothers. Yes, we've seen one or two who manage that—like Cut—but they're the outliers. Rex found his new purpose fighting the Empire with Ahsoka. The Batch found their new purpose taking care of Omega with each other. Crosshair's new purpose is... nothing. Not unless he swallows down his misgivings (and his ego) and keeps serving the Empire until a better purpose comes along.

The whole Talmarine kingdom, as well as Narnians, have gathered in the courtyard for the ceremony. Aslan has made the decision to allow some Talmarines to leave Narnia if they choose. Apparently, Talmarines are like the Pevensies and myself I suppose, they're from our world. They traveled to Narnia centuries ago by accident and made a home here. Caspian speaks to his people with such ease as he encourages them to consider the offer. He's a natural-born leader. He's meant to be Narnia's future king. As I come to this conclusion, I take Peter's hand beside me. He glances down at me, having not expected the action. Nonetheless, he gives my hand a comforting squeeze and offers me a gentle smile of reassurance.
"Are you alright?" He questions in a whisper with a tad of worry resting on his brows.
"I just... when we got here I would've done anything to go back home. Now that the war is over and Miraz is gone, I've come to realize I'm quite fond of Narnia," I explain my predicament.
Peter chuckles lightly, pleased with the news considering how much he adores this place. "I always hoped you would. Whenever I told you about Narnia, I wished I could've shown it to you. I'm glad you came with us this time. Now you understand," he reasons.
General Glozelle and Miraz's wife, Prunaprismia, volunteer first with her baby. In honor of their bravery, Aslan blesses them with a good future. The pair walk toward the tree that Aslan has made part in half. Everyone watches in awe the General and former Queen disappear in a blink. My lips part in astonishment. I don't think I'll ever get used to magic. Gasps fall across the crowd and people begin to question Aslan's intentions. They fear this is all a trick.
Peter slips his hand from mine and steps forward. "We'll go," he volunteers us.
"We Edmund frowns, sharing my expression.
"Wait, what?" I express rather rashly.
In my defense, it's justified. Peter never asked for my opinion. He's deciding for me. Aslan... Aslan made it out to seem as though I had a choice, as though we all would have at least some more time here. "Come on. Our time's up," Peter tells me solemnly, but an ounce of hope lingers in his tone. "After all... we're not really needed here anymore," he determines while approaching Caspian to offer him his sword.
"I will look after it until you return," Caspian assures Peter confidently.
"I'm afraid that's just it," Susan interjects beside me. "We're not coming back."
"We're not?" Lucy pouts with concern.
"You two are," Peter predicts, glancing between Aslan and his youngest sister. "At least, I think he means you two."
"But why?" Lucy struggles to comprehend the purpose behind this news, as do I. "Did they do something wrong?"
"Quite the opposite, Dear One," Aslan voices. "Your brother and sister have learned what they can from this world. Now it's time for them to live on their own." Aslan comforts each of us with his wisdom.
Though, frankly, I'm finding it hard to swallow this harsh pill. But all things have their time.
"It's all right, Lu," Peter tries to ease Lucy's mind as he takes her hand gently. "It's not how I thought it would be...but it's all right."
Peter directs his attention to me and holds out his free hand for me to take. "One day you'll see, too. Come on."
He offers me a weak smile, not one that shows genuine happiness, but contentment. I ease my hand out to glide it into his, but something stops me. A feeling in my chest telling me not to settle as Peter as with his decision. I shift my head toward Aslan to ask the lion directly. "And what about me?"
My patience is growing thin. All this back-and-forth yet I haven't heard a concrete answer about where I belong. Aslan is constantly confusing me with his tricky wording. One minute he makes me believe that finding him wasn't my purpose for coming here and the next he's telling Peter that his time here is over. I belong where Peter is, I always have. If his purpose is in our world... then so is mine. Then, does that mean I'm like Edmund and Lucy? Am I destined to return in the future? How far in the future? Narnian time is different from ours, who knows how many years will pass before we're here again. It could be another thousand years in Narnian time. "Your course is not as clear-cut as theirs," Aslan states with uncertainty. "You still have much to learn from here, as do Edmund and Lucy. Going back means one day, you will return, as will they."
"So I am to go back," I hope to clarify.
All I want is an answer, to know my path.
"Returning to your world will bring you back here someday, yes, that is a course you may take," Aslan nods calmly.
So, after all this time, after all the back-and-forth, Aslan is guiding me toward Peter. He made it sound as though I had to make this life-altering decision. The first few days we were here, I would've given anything to go back home. I never wanted to be in Narnia. Now that I have my chance to get out and everyone is rushing me out the door, I'm digging my heels into the dirt begging for a moment's pause. All this time Aslan has been pressing me to make a decision, why do I feel as though he's making it for me? It's suffocating.
I glance between Aslan and Peter nervously. Aslan wears his usual gentle and patient smile while Peter is confused with furrowed brows. His hand remains out to me, lingering for mine to join it. I whip my head around and my eyes land on Caspian. His features fall as he comes to terms with my departure. I approach the future King solemnly. All I can keep thinking is 'more time! More time! If only we had more time!' I can't visualize who the 'we' is exactly. When I say it, all I can think of is the riverbank in the forest. I see myself lying beside the river in the plush green, flower-covered, grass. The warmth of the golden sun scatters over my skin. I spent time with both Peter and Caspian there. What I would give to return to those moments. Whether I'm hoping it's with Peter or Caspian, I can't see. Each of them matters to me, on what level I can't decide.
"I'm glad I came," I tell Caspian whole-heartedly.
"I wish we had more time together," the prince sighs, taking my hands in his.
His hands are warm. Mine are always cold. I never noticed that before now. I'll miss that.
"I'm not entirely sure I belong here," I confess timidly, still unsure of my thoughts and Aslan's advice.
"Why not?" Caspian frowns as if my words are nonsense.
"I’m not of this world and if the Pevensies are 1,300 years older than you so am I," I shrug with a hint of a smile as I comprehend how old I am. I'm not a Narnian or a monarch of Narnia. Aslan said I was meant to come here with the Pevensies, but our time is up and I've yet to find this purpose he speaks so much about.
Caspian expresses a faint smile, amused by my humor, but too solemn to fully be happy. Both of us pull the other into an embrace. The words continue to repeat in my mind. 'More time! More time! If only we had more time!' I feel as though I'm standing on the edge of the cliff overlooking a deep trench and I'm stuck wondering whether I should jump. Caspian and I part from one another. It's painful. I feel safe with him, more secure and understood than I ever have before. I don't want to let go, but at the same time, I'm yearning to cling to Peter.
Peter meets me halfway and wraps an arm around my waist, leading me toward the tree trunk. The Pevenesies begin toward the tree as well, ready to go on.
"It’ll be okay," Peter whispers in my ear as he brings me into his side.
I feel safe here with him. Peter is home for me. For years, he's been my rock, my strength. Through the war, losing my dad, through all the bad, Peter has been my guiding light.
He continues to comfort me. "Everything will be as if we-"
"Peter, no wait... " I shake my head as my steps come to a halt.
It takes a second for Peter to react. He comes to a halt a few steps ahead of me. Turning over his shoulder, he gives me a confused look.
"I can’t go back," I voice, but my volume is weak. "At least not yet... not until I know that I've done what I must do."
"What do you mean?" He frowns.
"I... I think I’m still needed here..." I stammer with uncertainty. "At least... At least that’s what I think Aslan means. He speaks like a fortune teller and it’s confusing!"
Peter switches his now crossed expression from me to the lion. "Aslan, is that true?"
"Y/N’s future is not set in stone as your four’s is in history. She has known that she has to decide her course of action for some time. The clock is dwindling," Aslan explains steadily, looking to me to decide.
Lucy steps forward from behind Peter. "You mean you have to stay here?"
"It means I have a choice," I do my best to word it less harshly to the little one. "Staying here or coming again later. I’m assuming the next time will be with you and Edmund. Either way, I’m needed here. I just know it." I try to explain, but how do I explain a feeling?
"Neither choice is wrong," Aslan injects as he moves to stand beside Peter and me. "Going back to your world would mean you would return with Edmund and Lucy. After that, your life will be as you've always envisioned with who you envisioned. Staying here would be as you've envisioned as well," Aslan explains, giving me a knowing look. "You will prosper in both worlds, in whichever you decide."
Does Aslan know that I haven't been able to stop thinking about the riverbank? Is that what he's referring to? Does he mean that if I stay in Narnia I'll be with Caspian? If I return to England Peter and I will be together? Choosing a world also means choosing between Peter and Caspian.
"But why?" Lucy pouts.
"I don’t know," I struggle to say as my eyes begin to well up.
"I do," Peter voices.
"What?" I mutter.
"I didn’t understand it at first, but Aslan told me something earlier today. He said, ‘as much as we wish we could, sometimes we can’t choose who we love, the world chooses for us.’ You’re needed here. This is why you were brought here with us. When Caspian called for us with the horn, he unknowingly was calling to you as well."
I switch my gaze between Caspian and Peter frantically. Both of them meet my gaze with eagerness, wondering what I'll choose, as does everyone else.
"So I will return with Lucy and Edmund in the future if I go home?" I clarify with Aslan, hoping for a direct answer.
"Yes, if that's what you decide, Child," he nods.
I press my lips together as my throat becomes strained from holding back tears. "Peter I- "
"It’s okay," he assures me as his hand glides up to cup my cheek. "Everything is as it should be."
I can tell he's doing his best to stay strong for my sake. Tears flow from his eyes silently and the sight pierces my heart.
"If this is how it should be, why does it hurt so much?" I mutter, my tone shaky with emotion.
Peter shakes his head as his eyes become glossy. "It won’t forever. We’ll both grow and find that which we were destined to. I always thought we would find that together," he chuckles softly, it's bitter-sweet. "But this is right," he speaks with certainty.
"But I’ll never see you again," I comprehend the harsh reality of it all. "I... I don't want that! I can't imagine my life without you in it! You've always been there and I... haven't I lost enough people already? How many more goodbyes must I say?"
"We mustn’t think like that. One day we'll be together again!" Peter thinks optimistically.
This isn't fair. None of this is fair! In choosing Narnia, in choosing a different life for myself, I'm losing my best friend. I'm losing the one person who kept me going, who gave me a reason to survive.
"I love you," I cry.
Peter grins at my words, a faint and joyful chuckle escapes between his teeth. "And I’ve always loved you, perhaps I always will. We’ll never lose that, even across worlds."
I nod repeatedly, holding onto every syllable. I pray and hope, that he's right. Peter pulls me into his chest and I wrap my arms around him for dear life. I grip the fabric of his loose shirt in my fists. His hand cradles my head as he plants a kiss on my forehead.
Do the ones we love ever truly leave us? Is the memory of them strong enough to keep us going in their absence? I doubt a day will pass by where Peter doesn't cross my mind or any of the Pevensies for that matter.
Now that our time has officially run out, I say my goodbyes to each of the Pevensies. I'm not just saying goodbye to Peter's siblings, each of them has become family to me. Lucy and Susan cry with me as the three of us hug each other. Edmund does his best not to show emotion, but I can see behind his stone-hard expression that he's holding back. His tight embrace is enough evidence as well.
When the moment comes for the Pevensies to return to London, I hold onto Peter's hand as I approach the tree with them. His siblings walk a step ahead as Peter walks backward to face me. Until the last second, we hold on.
"Someday," I nod, as though I'm making a promise that one day we'll see each other again.
He nods, agreeing to the vow. "Someday."
Our hands begin to slip as Peter backs away toward the cliff between the tree halves and my breath hitches in my throat. I stare into his sea-glass eyes and the seconds travel rapidly by. In a blink, he's gone, disappeared from my world.
A gasp escapes my lips at the sight. My arm falls to my side as tears glide down my cheeks. My heart sinks as reality hits me that I'll never see Peter ever again as long as we're alive. An arm wraps around my waist, supporting me. Caspian appears in my peripheral vision as my eyes remain locked on the open space beneath the tree.
"It’ll be okay," he reassures me as he rubs his hand up and down my back.
I swallow hard, my face becomes blank other than the tears falling down my cheeks. A deep sense of emptiness consumes me inch by inch starting from my heart.
"As long as you've done what's right by your conscious and your heart, you could never be wrong, Dear One," Aslan advises smoothly.
I stare ahead at the tree, waiting for Peter to reappear though I know he'll never come. Have I done wrong? If this is what's meant to happen, why does it hurt so much? This is agony.
Caspian tries to usher me away, "come, Y/N, we can go back to-"
"No!" I blurt out suddenly, making him halt.
My eyes search the tree in a panic and then I turn to Caspian. "I'm sorry... I... I can't do this!"
The prince's features fall as he processes my words. "But..."
"I'm so sorry Caspian," I cry. "I love Narnia and I'm so glad that we've met but..." I glance over at the empty space where Peter last stood with a deep sigh. "I don't think I can be truly happy here if a piece of me is elsewhere."
Caspian swallows hard, clenching his jaw to withhold his emotions. "You love him," he determines.
Knowing that in choosing Peter I'm hurting Caspian is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Yet, it wasn't until Peter vanished from my sight did I come to realize that the answer to my million questions was right there in front of me this whole time. It's Peter, it's always been, Peter.
I lean up and plant a kiss on Caspian's lips, one last kiss. He deepens the kiss and it's a bitter-sweet farewell. When we part, he wraps his arms around me in an embrace. I wrap my arms around him tightly, holding onto the hope that Aslan is right and one day we may see each other again.
"One day," I mutter against his chest. "One day I hope we're reunited."
Caspian parts from me and expresses a weak smile as he brushes his hand against my cheek, wiping away the remaining tears. "I'll count the days until your return."
“I pray it’s soon,” I confess. “I fear I’ll miss you more than I can bare.”
In choosing Peter, I lose Caspian. In choosing Caspian, I lose Peter. Neither choice is painless.
I glance toward the lion, "so am I right about this?"
I can’t leave without being sure.
"You were never wrong," he smiles.
I switch my gaze to Trumpkin, the crowd of Narnians, and Telemarines. All of them await my next move. Swiftly, I plant a kiss on Caspian's cheek, preparing to rush after the Pevensies. I turn toward the tree with a smile, knowing in my heart this is right. I turn my back to the tree and begin to back away from Caspian as Peter did to me. I hold onto the Prince's hand until the last moment. Our fingertips barely touching.
"Goodbye for now," I phrase lightheartedly with a soft grin.
"Farewell-"
Caspian's words are cut short as my vision changes from the courtyard to a chaotic train station. I'm standing in the middle of the platform as people move about me. The peace of the courtyard is replaced with deafening noise. I blink rapidly, piecing together what's happened. I glance down at my clothes and I'm in my school uniform again. My hair wisps around as a train flies through the station. I'm back, I'm back in London! Peter. I need to find him!
Frantically, I shift between people, rushing through the station to find the Pevensies. They have no idea I'm here. It'll be like a needle in a haystack with everyone dressed in the same uniforms. Perhaps they're where we left for Narnia, by the bench! As the idea pops into my mind, I begin to run. I scan each head, each face, all looking for one. Then, in a flash, I spot the blonde speckled hair I've been longing to see. Peter paces in front of the bench, his eyes on the floor and his hand rubbing the back of his neck. His cheeks are red and his eyes bloodshot. His sisters and brother are huddled together by the bench, likely discussing their departure and my decision to stay. Little do they know...
"Peter!" I shout impulsively.
Peter whips his head around, searching the crowd for me. His glossy eyes are wide with surprise and his lips are parted. The other Pevensie children appear just as shocked. Then, he finds me. Amongst the crowd and chaos, his sea-glass eyes that I've been longing to see again since the moment he left have found me.
"Y/N?" He mouths breathlessly.
Peter begins to shove through the crowd, leaving his stunned siblings behind. I glide between bodies, excusing myself along the way. The seconds feel like hours as the distance dwindles but feels miles long. All I keep thinking is 'get to him! Get to him!' Before, I envisioned the riverbank. I longed for it. I couldn't see who was with me there in my visions until now, Peter. We were at peace, happy even. I believed the whole reason behind my want for those moments was to stay in Narnia. Yet, I've come to realize that it doesn't matter where I am, as long as it's with Peter.
In an instant, Peter's arms wrap around me and he frantically cradles my head, pressing it to his chest for dear life. He parts from me, cupping my face with astonishment.
He shouts, "what are you-"
Ignoring his words, I press my lips to his. Since the moment he disappeared all I wanted was to be with him again. At first, he's taken aback by my action, but after a second he comes to kiss me back. He cups my cheek and deepens the kiss. It’s salty, a mixture our of tears coming together. The world around us goes silent and nothing else matters. Despite everything, the war, the pain, the loss, this is where I'm meant to be. We part only to catch our breath.
"You came back?" He pants, lingering inches from my face. Now, tears of joy fall from his eyes. "But you're needed in Narnia! Aslan even said-"
"Destiny is a funny thing I've come to realize," I chuckle lightly with joy. "Everyone always speaks of it as though it must be an action or place. What if it's a person?"
The edge of his lips curl upward with pleasure, yet his brows scrunch together in confusion. "What happened to someday? You had the chance to be Queen! Grow old in Narnia! Caspian..."
"I was standing there, milliseconds after you left and I realized that none of it made any sense!" I explain breathlessly. "My world wouldn't be my world without you in it. Life wouldn't be worth living."
He gleams, overjoyed at my words. "So it's me?!"
"Oh silly boy, it's always been you," I giggle lightheartedly.
Peter releases a breathless laugh, emotional yet over the moon. He nods and swiftly brings his lips back to mine, holding my face in his hands longingly. No matter the world or time, I will follow him anywhere.
It's him. It's always been, Peter. Now, we have forever.

Wedding Date - Seokjin
--------------------------
"I still can't believe I agreed to do this," your best friend Kim Seokjin said from the bedroom next to you.
You chuckled as you carefully applied your second layer of mascara in the bathroom mirror.
"Mmmm have I told you how much I loooove you, Seokjinnie?" you cooed, popping your head out from the doorway to flash him a big smile.
He scoffed and rolled his eyes but smiled.
"I'm going to need to hear it way more, you know! You owe me big time!"
He turned his body toward you as he pulled his navy blue suit jacket on over top his crisp white button down shirt.
"So how do I look?" he asked, putting his long fingers out in a heart shape accompanied by a sexy stare.
 "Classic Worldwide Handsome," you replied.
He gave you a wink.
"Yah! That is what they call me!"
You laughed and looked back in the mirror.
"Seriously though, Jin, you look really, really good."
You were glad you had turned back to the mirror so he couldn't see your cheeks turn red. The sight of him in a perfectly fitting suit with his dark hair pushed back from his eyes and forehead which showed his beautifully structured face made your heart flutter.
"Thanks, y/n. I've gotta look good if I'm going to be your pretend boyfriend, you know?"
You shuffled nervously, wondering if this was a good idea after all.
He poked his head around the doorway to look at you.
"How much longer until you're ready?"
You looked at yourself in the mirror.
"Umm probably about 10 more minutes. Just have to finish my make up and put my dress on."
Jin nodded.
"Okay. I'll be in the living room when you're ready."
You sighed and made your way to your closet after you were finished with your make up. You stared at the dresses before you and wondered if it was too late to back out.
One of your friends from high school was getting married, and after hearing that almost all your other friends from back then were bringing plus ones, the stress of not having one got to you. So you reluctantly asked your best friend Jin, figuring he would say no, or that he had a full schedule that day. He was in one of the world's most popular boy bands after all. But, to your surprise, he was free this day and he said yes with almost no hesitation. It made you smile, how kind he was. He was a great friend.
In fact, it was small gestures like this that made you finally realize your true feelings for him. He was a wonderful person, and the two of you always had a great time laughing with each other. You would never tell him how you truly felt about him though, as you were afraid it would ruin your friendship. Plus, you were pretty sure he didn't feel the same way considering how many girls he has to choose from. Why would he choose you? It hurt your heart, but it was worth it to keep him in your life.
Eventually you chose a long, pink and floral dress made of chiffon, with fluttering short sleeves. Perfect for the Spring time. It had bits of blue in it, too, so it matched Jin's outfit well. You slipped on some nude sandals with heels and grabbed a clutch purse from the top shelf.
You took one last look at yourself in the full length mirror and actually smiled. Your hair fell nicely around your shoulders and your make up was done but still showed your natural face nicely. You felt confident and ready.
"Ok, sorry, I'm ready," you said, walking into the living room to find Jin sitting on the couch looking at his phone.
He stood up and put his phone in the pocket of his pants. When he finally looked at you his jaw dropped.
 "Whoa..." he mumbled.
It made you intensely blush and your heart speed up.
He shook himself out of his trance and got a big grin on his face. Suddenly he started humming the chorus to his band BTS' song "Like" and snapping his fingers while stepping towards you.
"Ohhhh pretty woman... don't wanna be fool, wanna be cool, wanna be loved, 너와의, same looove... Baby I want it"
You pushed him away by his chest, trying to play off how embarrassed and flustered you were. He laughed at himself while you rolled your eyes.
"Oh my god, let's just go, Jinnie."
*
You arrived at the venue just as the ceremony was starting, so you didn't have time to greet anyone. It was outside in a park next to the Han River. It was a beautiful late afternoon in mid-Spring, the sun was shining, flowers had finally made their appearance after the long winter, and the trees were covered in lush green leaves again.
The ceremony was simple, sweet and short. Once it was over everyone headed to the patio overlooking the river where the reception was going to take place. A large tent was set up for some shade, tables and chairs, a buffet line and a dance floor. Everything was covered in white flowers and elegant decorations.
"I guess we should find out where we're sitting," you said to Jin, and he nodded in response.
He took your hand in his, which completely caught you off guard. You looked down at your interlaced fingers in shock.
"We have to at least hold hands, (y/n), if we're meant to be convincing," Jin stated matter-of-factly.
You gulped and nodded in agreement, getting flustered from the feeling of his strong hand holding yours tightly.
The two of you walked to the table under the tent where the place card settings were, informing the guests of which table they were assigned to. While searching for your name, you heard a shriek behind you.
"(y/n)!? Oh my god, is that you??"
You turned around to see one of your old friends, (y/f/n), coming towards you with outstretched arms.
You smiled politely and returned the hug.
"Hi, (y/f/n), it's good to see you."
She smiled and turned towards Jin.
"And who is this handsome man standing next to you?"
Jin stuck his hand out to shake hers.
"I'm Kim Seokjin, (y/n)'s boyfriend." He wrapped his long arm around the back of your waist as he said that, pulling you closer to him.
"Boyfriend? Wow, (y/n), you certainly reached out of your league, huh?" She laughed to herself.
You winced at the comment but brushed it off. Jin, however, couldn't let it go so easily.
"She reached out of her league? No, no, I think it's quite the opposite. Look at her! She's gorgeous! And kind, and smart and funny. You're definitely wrong there."
Anyone who didn't know Jin would think the tone in his response was light-hearted, but being his best friend you could sense the annoyance and anger that was really there.
"Did you come with anyone?" You asked, changing the subject quickly.
Her face lit up.
"Yes! I got married last year. My husband, Park Ji-ho, is over there," she pointed to a man standing at the edge of the tent, "He's wonderful, let me get him."
She called his name and waved him over to introduce him to you.
"Ji-ho, this is (y/n) and Seokjin. I knew her in high school."
He bowed at the two of you and shook you hands. When he looked at Jin he paused.
"You look... familiar," he said quizzically.
You and Jin exchanged looks. You shuffled nervously.
Ji-ho's face lit up.
"Wait, I've seen you on the walls in my little sister's room! And on the tv! Aren't you an idol? You're in a group, right?" he suddenly recalled.
Jin gave him a small smile and nodded his head.
 "Yes, 방탄소년단, or BTS."
(y/f/n) gasped.
"That's right! I knew I recognized you, too! You're a member of BTS!" she exclaimed with wide eyes, "Wow, (y/n) really did reach out of her league."
She turned to her husband and chuckled.
Jin's grip on your hand got tighter in anger, turning his knuckles white.
"Well, it was nice to meet you both. We're going to our table now." He said shortly, urgently pulling you away with him.
Once you were out of hearing distance from the couple Jin asked you,
"(y/n) you were actually friends with that girl? She's awful. Who says things like that?"
You shrugged and sighed.
"We weren't that good of friends, just in the same group. She always has had that... interesting sense of humor."
He scoffed.
"Interesting? I'd say it's more mean than anything."
You gave him an I-told-you-so look.
"You see now why I so desperately wanted you to come with me, Jinnie-ah? Imagine the things she would have said if I had shown up alone."
He rolled his eyes.
Just then his phone let out a loud vibration from his pocket. He glanced down at it and rejected the call.
"So you wanna get some food? I'm starving," he asked, shoving it back in his pocket.
You chuckled.
"Of course you are. Let's go."
The two of you ate from the buffet, chatted with the bride and groom at your table for a little bit and listened to the live band perform songs. By then the sun had set and the whole venue was lit by the soft yellow glow of string lights stretching across the tent ceiling and out to the patio.
"So when are we going to dance, (y/n)?" Jin asked after a while with a huge grin on his face. He took the last sip of his beer.
You raised you eyebrows and shook your head.
"Oh no no no, I am not getting on that dance floor with you Kim Seokjin."
Jin stood up and started walking backwards towards the floor.
"Come oonnnnn (y/n)-ah," he pleaded in his endearing whiny voice, "If you don't come with me, I'll go alone and dance like this."
He started flailing his long arms up in the air and shaking his whole body back and forth.
"Wooooo! Weeee! Woooooooo!" he exclaimed with his motions, causing some people from a nearby table to stare and giggle.
"Ok, ok, I'm coming, I'm coming," you laughed and rolled your eyes, "Just please don't do that."
He smiled widely at you and took you by the hand out to the dance floor.
It was an upbeat song, and the two of you swayed back and forth in front of each other to the beat. Jin also added in some classic moves, like the sprinkler and the robot. He looked ridiculous and it made you laugh. He seemed so confident and happy, which made you forget to feel embarrassed.
"Isn't dancing part of your job description??" you yelled to him jokingly over the music.
He continued to wave his arms in the air.
"Doesn't mean I do it well!" he responded, grabbing your hand and twirling you under it.
You threw your head back and laughed. You were finding yourself having a surprisingly good time, despite originally being nervous to come.
The song ended and then a slow one began to play.
"Grab onto the person who makes your heart flutter, this one is for the two of you," the lead singer of the band announced.
You and Jin looked at each other shyly. He hesitated, but gave you an adorable small smile. You felt butterflies in your stomach and you looked at the ground awkwardly. Jin didn't notice, he just stepped toward you and put one hand on your waist and the other in yours.
You moved back and forth together, staring into his dark brown eyes and handsome face. It made you sad almost, how strong your feelings truly were and the fact that you knew he would never be yours. But you quickly pushed those thoughts out of your mind and told yourself to focus on the present.
"I really do appreciate you coming with me today, Jinnie." you said softly, "You're a really great friend."
He blinked slowly at you in adoration.
"Of course, you know I'd do anything for you, (y/n)-ah."
Suddenly his phone started vibrating again. He let go of your hand to remove it from his pocket and again hit the reject button. Then he scrolled through a few things.
"Is everything okay?" you asked curiously.
Jin looked up from the phone at you.
"Yes, I'm sorry, I'm going to turn it off."
You shook your head in protest.
"No, don't do that. What if the members need you?" you paused, "Wait, is that who's calling you?"
Jin looked down and scratched the back of his head.
"Jin, you can answer the phone it if it's important, it's okay." you reassured him.
He shook his head.
"It's not... really that important, it's fine."
He doesn't look at you, which means you can tell he's lying.
You grabbed his arm gently.
  "Jin..."
He finally looks at you and squeezes his eyes shut in shame.
"Aiishhh, we were supposed to go over some choreography changes and they want to Facetime me so I can see."
  "Seokjin!" You exclaimed.
Couples around you glared at your sudden loudness.
You dragged Jin off the dance floor and sat him back at the table.
"You told me you didn't have any work to do today!"
He buried his face in his hands.
"I know, I know, but skipping one practice will be okay... I think."
You shook your head in disbelief.
"Oh my gosh, I wouldn't have asked you or let you come if I had known! Why Jin-ah, why did you come with me when you had work?"
You studied his embarrassed red face. He looked nervous.
"I-I don't know... I guess I just wanted to be there for you."
Your stomach twisted at those words, but you ignored it.
Instead you sighed and looked down at your hands.
"Well they clearly need you there. So let's get you to them."
You stood up. Jin did too but he grabbed your wrist.
"We don't have to go, I'm having fun. Let me just call them back really quick. It will be fast, I promise."
"You sure? I don't want you getting in trouble or the other members getting upset with you..." you worried.
Jin smiled reassuringly.
"I'm sure. I'll be right back."
And with that he pulled out his phone and walked out of the tent towards the illuminated patio.
You sighed again and slumped back in your chair, twirling the stem of your wine glass between your fingers. You couldn't believe Jin would skip a dance practice to be your date to a stupid wedding. You felt horrible for asking. Why would he do that anyway? The other 6 members were his everything. His job was his everything. His love for entertaining was his everything. As far as you knew, all these things meant so much more to him than being your date to a wedding you didn't even really want to come to.
"Excuse me, young lady," an old woman with glasses and white hair had come up to your table, interrupting your thoughts, "I just wanted to say what a beautiful couple the two of you make."
She gestured towards where Jin had retreated to make his call.
You felt your face get hot and you chuckled lightly.
  "Oh... well thank you."
She continued,
"You can tell how in love with you he is just by the way he looks at you."
Your heart thumped in your chest and you put your hands up in protest.
"Oh, no, no, I don't quite think he feels-"
She interrupted you.
"Honey, I've been married 54 years... I know a thing or two about being in love. You looked very happy out there, and so did he, especially when he made you laugh. Keep him close, dear, he's a special one. And he obviously adores you."
Before you could protest again, she smiled and gave you a wink before walking away.
She could tell by the way he looked at you? You chuckled to yourself. Clearly she needed a new glasses prescription. You shook her comments off and exited the tent to find Jin before she could come back and fill your head with more wishful thoughts.
You found him alone leaning over the railing, looking out across the river, the city lights of Seoul visible in the distance. You walked up to him and crossed your arms on the railing next to him.
"Hey." you said, noticing he was no longer on the phone.
He turned from the river view and looked at you. The string lights gave his pale face a warm tanned glow. He looked almost angelic.
  "Hey."
You stared back at the river and fiddled with your hands.
  "How were the members?"
He shrugged.
"They're good. They just wanted to make sure I was okay with the changes. I told them I am and promised I'd be there with them tomorrow."
"And they weren't upset with your absence?" you questioned.
He shook his head.
  "Not at all, they understand."
You smiled.
"Well that's good. They're really great people. You're lucky."
Jin hummed in agreement.
There was a pause when you suddenly realized how chilly it had gotten. Outside the tent and adjacent to the river felt a good 10 degrees colder. You shivered and rubbed your arms.
  "You're cold? Here."
Jin removed his suit jacket and placed it gently around your shoulders. It was warm and smelled like him; an instant comfort.
"Wow, classic move giving me your jacket," you teased, nudging your shoulder against his, "you're such a gentleman."
He shrugged and chuckled, showing his perfect teeth and adorable eye wrinkles.
  "I try my best."
You looped your arm in his tightly and rested your head on his upper arm.
"Mmm you're a great pretend boyfriend, Jinnie."
You sighed in content and looked out over the water again, the moon reflecting on it's surface, a cool spring breeze blowing across your face.
"What if... we didn't pretend?" he suddenly whispered softly.
You felt your heart stop. Had you misheard him?
You took your arm out from his and turned to face him. He was studying your face intensely. His was serious, a rare sight.
"What?" you managed to squeak out.
He shifted his body so it faced yours. There was hope and determination in his eyes. But also fear. You could feel your heart beat in your ears.
"I-I," he shut his eyes in hesitation, "I have feelings for you, (y/n). I have for a long time now. I didn't know how to tell you, or if you even felt the same way. You're always referring to me as your friend so I was afraid to tell you... and I didn't, I don't want to ruin our friendship. You are so important to me and I guess somehow I was hoping coming with you here tonight would make you see that, and give me an opportunity to tell you. So... here I am. That's part of the reason the members were so understanding... they knew I was finally going to tell you today," he chuckled sheepishly and looked at the ground, "I understand if you don't feel the same way, really, I don't want to lose you as a friend, but.... I thought you should know."
You felt like you were dreaming. Your eyes teared up at his words and you were thankful he couldn't see you in the soft light. Your heart felt like it was going to burst.
His face looked at yours in concern.
"Jinnie..." You could barely speak.
So instead you stood on your tip-toes and gently pressed your lips on top of his large, pillow-y ones. He kissed you back passionately, wrapping his long arms around your waist and pulling you closer to him. He was so warm, and smelled so comforting and familiar. You felt like you were in heaven.
When you broke away you both had the biggest grins on your face. He rested his forehead against yours and closed his eyes, humming in content.
"Seokjin-ah," you whispered, burying your face in his chest, "I'm so glad you told me."
He kissed the top of your head and rested his chin on top, holding you against him tightly.
"And I am so glad I skipped work today."
You both chuckled and kissed once more.

Chapter Two/ Pack Master List
Tumblr media
You were sitting out on Steve’s back deck for the rest of the night, sleep? It wasn't something you could bring yourself back to do. Crawl back into that bed with the memory of waking up the Pierces tracker looming over you with nothing but the moonlight edging his outline. Even your wolf paced back and forth in your mind, shaking herself once in a while to dispel the tension lacing your body. Around your shoulders Steves jacket rested, warding off the early morning’s damp chill rolling off the lake nearby. Nearby the large Alpha was settled in the opposite deck chair, his feet stretched to lean on the deck railing, bare feet crisscrossed at his ankles, and his arms crossed over his chest, head tipped forward so his chin rested on his chest. You couldn't help but watch him on occasion while he was lightly sleeping, your nose pressed in the collar of his jacket, inhaling his comforting scent.
<You should crawl in his lap.> Your little wolf whined as you took in that heavy male scent once more <I would at least feel better.>
We're not disturbing his rest anymore then we already have, he should have gone to his own bed last night.
<He would have if you went with him so he could have kept us safe Y/N>
You grumbled at your Little Wolf, not needing her to point out things you didn't want to admit to yourself. You could already feel the Full Moon Runs bonding starting to sharpen, just being in his home was tying you two together, and that human side was scared of that connection. You've seen bondings that were all one-sided, the other losing themselves completely to there partner that they turned into a husk. Nothing more than property to the other. You shuddered at the idea and turned back to face the lake, watch with a new fascination at the way the light broke through the pines, beams dancing over the rippling water that lapped at stony grey shores. The soft haunting lilt of mourning doves ripping through the upbeat morning songbirds just starting their greetings scattered through the forest The Compound was settled right in the middle of. This was more fascinating then assessing the possibility of being an Alpha Mate, you lied to yourself over and over, sure that would make it true.
After Steve was sure the Trackers were removed, he had gone inside to find you earlier that night. You weren't hard to find, the glass door leading to the back of the cabin wide open and he could see your silhouette sitting in the alpine chair you had sat in just a couple days ago for the first time. He wanted to insist you come back in, put you back to bed, you needed the recharge after the run as much as he did. You and your wolf needed rest in order to shift properly again, but he couldn't find it in his heart to demand you do such a thing. Twice in a short period of time, he had already took away your willpower to disobey him, and he wouldn't again, not this night. Instead the Alpha picked up a jacket he had hanging, his Wolf rumbled protectively while he stepped outside. “Hey” He said softly and holds the jacket open which you willingly leaned forward, he had set the jacket around.
When you willingly accepted it, Steve resisted pulling you into his arms, let his hands relax you in his lap, against his chest where he could envelop you. You weren't his. And with that, he settled down, to stay out with you as long as he did. The silence drifting far beyond his back deck. It encased the forest much like the fog rolling off the water frequently did. You made no effort to talk, and he didn't either. His Wolf, diligent with perked ears and flashing eyes watched over you in the only way he could, nearby, in silence. Finally a lone howl echoed back to the two of you, and Steve tilted his head listening to it. The pack mate informing that the Tracker had crossed the border, and they were following along the line to make sure he didn't attempt to return.
Now that he could relax a bit more, letting his head drift to rest against his chest, never truly falling asleep. Steve still was aware of you nearby, of the pack running the border tracking the intruder, every breath in brought him news of the stirrings of other members settling back in the early morning hours that there was a tinge of unease with them. Unease, some of them were worried about what the stranger might have brought with her. The Wolf slowly sunk down to a lay, processing everything Steve was giving him. <We will need to take care of any doubts, she belongs here. At our side, she is ours>
We will handle any that have an objection to her being here. I wouldn't turn any away that was a danger to the pack.
<They will point out the Trackers, that she brings danger.> He pointed out, resting his head down, muzzle crossing over his paws.
She can't help the danger that follows her. She is just trying to start over.
Satisfied with your answer, the Wolf remained silent, watching over the one he considered his. Neither beast nor man chose to point out that they didn't disagree with the 'she is ours.’
When Steve stirred hours later, he tipped his head back to yawn, stretching his jaw, and arms lifted over his head to reach for nothing really. He dropped his feet from the deck. You stirred next to him, shifting in the seat to face him, giving a soft smile of the collar of his jacket that you were cocooned in. You had drawn your feet up and now it had encased you like an oversized hug. It made the wolf in him very pleased to see you covered in his clothing, his scent would cling to you to any other wolf that passed you. “Morning” He said his forearms draping over his knees and letting his upper weight fall against them, leaning in closer towards you.
“Morning Steve.” Your Little Wolf, is preening at the Alpha, seeing his 'Wake Up’. “I hope we didn't wake you up. But now that your awake, I did want to say something.” Your Little Wolf perked, and knowing the thoughts edged in your mind, she gave you a growl. <Stop that right now.>
“Not, not at all Little One” He rubbed on his face with vigor and paid attention again. “what's on your mind?”
It all kind of rushed out, you could feel what you were saying shattering your heart and the Little Wolf snapping at you in anger for what you were saying, her growls first and foremost at your mind that it even muffled what you were speaking. “Steve, it's not going to stop, I know Pierce. For everyone here, it will be safer for me to leave, and be seen leaving... “ You could see the moment his eyes went from a hazy blue to sharp and warning, Steve’s jaw clenching under his beard, it ticked.
“The only way your leaving Y/N, is if you want to. Not from fucking fear, or intimidation from anyone. If you want to move on fine.” His wolf bristled, all the fur on his ruff standing on end, traveling down his back in hostility at the very idea she should leave cause of danger. And much like yours, was very vocal. Steve overlooked that though, knowing it was simply his drive to keep you with him at all costs. “But this is your home as long as you want it to be.”
<I knew he wouldn't turn you away Y/N, I bet his wolf is raging at the very idea of it.>
I had to, he has to know the danger being here could mean for his pack. If anything happened to them... I couldn't.
<Our Pack. Steve is stronger then Pierce. You have to learn it's okay to trust in your Alpha.>
Trust, what was that really like? You haven't trusted anyone since you matured and was forced into finding a suitable mate to be paired with, continuous threats at being collared beaten into you until that day finally came. You didn't even realize Steve moved to a stand, and his hands cupped around your face until he tipped your face up to look at him, his thumbs sweeping over your cheeks, and his brow creased in worry. “Y/N? Hey, you hear me?” His voice snapped you out of your thoughts and your eyes lifted. His warmth started to seep into you, making you want to uncurl from his coat and right around him. Your breath hitched a moment, and you could feel your Little Wolf start to stir, your own body aching to press into his hold, feel him against her, over her... Quit It!
<That wasn't because of me Y/N> The Little Wolf snorted
Fuck
Who would have guessed just a simple touch would send Steve spiraling high, he immediately picked up the way your heart sped up and your sweet honeysuckle scent wafted in that intoxicating way that told him to drop his head, taste your lips, lick down your skin till you were saying his name in that breathless manner. His pupils blew in his arousal, a light hazing of yellow gleaning over as the beast started craving more. “I understand Steve.” Your voice, soft and inviting. He had to pull away before he dragged you down on the porch and... snapping out of it, he pulled his hand away, growling out softly. “Good, this is your home now Y/N.”
Quick to escape inside, Steve went one way to prepare for the day, and you remained curled up in the Alpine chair, your forehead pressed to your knees, chastising yourself for the way your body responded to him. The way your Little Wolf constantly fought for it, the way you were simply scared of it. This wasn't anything like the other times, when Pierce would present you to an unmated wolf, there wasn't the same fear in his hands that there was in any of theirs. And that... fuck that terrified you.
Steve needed to step away, get a clear head. This was nothing like with Alana, and as he wrenched open his front door, Bucky and Sam already headed up the walk to meet with him, Steve played it off as he was expecting them. Not running away from you sitting on his back deck, looking at him with those wide eyes of yours that looked innocent, but stirred something much more than that. “He's still nearby, we have a tail on him, but he looks like he's getting ready to move,” Sam said as they both came up on the porch, not picking up on Steves distracted presence at the moment.
“Mmhh... I want to know where he comes from, where the pack is settled in. That alpha isn't going to be okay with having one of his wolves killed.” Bucky didn't flinch a bit when Steve mentioned this. He was doing nothing more than protecting the pack, and although he was hesitant with you, he would do it again. “Call Stark, I want Natasha here now. It's about time we see how well that training of his works.” Sam immediately pulled out his phone and started preparations. Bucky leaned up against the railing, and eyed the Alpha for a moment, arching his brows. “How did it go last night? Your wolf push for more?”
Steve glanced at him and rubbed the back of his neck. “No, he was satisfied she was safe, but that run, her staying here... It's different this time, not like before with Alana. She's scared, of what her old Alpha is capable of. Y/N actually considered leaving, she brought it up this morning. We had a moment just before you two showed up.” From behind him, Steve was acutely aware of you in the kitchen, doing what he now realized was a morning routine for you, Scooping grinds into the filter, pouring water into the canister... And Bucky watched Steve get slightly distracted, the curve of his mouth lifting at the corner hearing you. “You got it bad man...”
“Shut up Bucky.” Steve snapped back at him.
“No, I mean it. Even now you're so fucking tuned into her that you can't hide it. Hey, maybe I was wrong earlier, and you should actually see where this takes you. I thought at first you were just being your usual self, needing to save someone and got distracted cause she was unmated, but this... this isn't like that at all.” Bucky gave a shrug. “Maybe this is what Sam is always going on about with Sara. I know I've never bought into that soul mate stuff, but maybe you two are compatible. Just don't be so fucking stubborn, a'right?”
Sam turned back to the two of them, Steve drifting from all the Bucky just laid on him to his news. “Nat be back by tonight Tony said., he's going to fly in. He asked if there was some kind of trouble since it was a rush, but I told him to get ahold of you later, then you just tell him what you want.” Steve nodded. “Bucky trail him, just don't let yourself get caught. He will probably recognize your scent.” Steve started to feel better now that things were happening, his wolf to, and just as the men left, you stepped out onto the porch, bringing him a cup of that coffee you just brewed. Steve accepted it gratefully, letting the caffeine ease into his system.
“How about I show you more of the area Y/N?” he suddenly offered, his eyes looking you over momentarily, your blush spotting your cheeks at the attention. That made him smile, seeing you get a bit bashful on him. “Works canceled, need a part to fix the machine, and there are some good beaches to run on nearby, if your up for a shift so soon.”
< Let's do it Y/N! I can handle coming back out.>
You sure? We haven't slept to recharge.
<Running with Steve will be enough of a recharge for me.>
You dipped back your mug, and eyed the Alpha over the rim, he waited so patiently for your answer, that you grinned at him and nodded. “Would love that, I will meet you back out here in just a few minutes.” Taking his mug, you escaped inside with the door ajar, and cleaned up right quick. Steve thought nothing of it, and simply waited. He was surprised though when you didn't necessarily come back out, but your wolf trotted out to greet him, “Oh! well aren't you quick Little One.” Holding out his hand, you mouthed it lightly and his other came up to brush over your head and down your neck, chuckling. “Guess I gotta catch up.” You flashed your eyes up at him and gave a wolfish smirk before bolting out of his hold and off the porch, hightailing it for the woods you had run in the night before. Steves wolf was now ramped up, pushing for a shift and Steve started peeling off clothing off right there on his porch, tossing and kicking it away.
<Hurry up! she is halfway to the border before we even get close.>
I'm fucking going as fast as I can! as soon as Steve lost his sweats, the wolf burst forward, and the heavy alpha was sailing off the steps, landing heavily on his front paws and as soon as his back legs spring back underneath him, Steves off, following where he's seen the light-colored she-wolf disappear into the shadowed depths of the forest.
His Forest. The she-wolf was exploring His Forest.
Steve had been running these trails since he started shifting, and his eyes slit almost closed to protect from flying debris every time he pounded into the pine needled trails, and under low hanging branches slapping at him. Your scent clung to the cool air under the towering pines, fresh and enticing 'catch me Alpha’, his muzzle weaved back and forth following it till he shot past it, and spun mid-trail to backtrack, leaping off into the unbroken ground, and weaving around trees. Heading for the edge of the lake, where he caught sight of you pacing ahead, your ruff hanging around your neck swaying back and forth in your trot. Your ears flicking back when you heard him, but the oversized Alpha had effectively caught up to you and before you could spring away once more, he crashed into you, the two of you rolling and nipping at each other sharply, all in play of course.
Once you land on his chest, you make a growing noise while shaking a mouthful of his silver fur, making as if you were mad at his antics. Steve twisted so you slipped off and pinned you down below him, making you bare your fangs at him. A large oversized tongue swiped over your muzzle and he bounded away with a howl, twisting to slap at the ground with his front paws, enticing you to play. Very cat-like, you slithered forward through the grass and sprang at him, chasing after him as he barreled away, leading you closer to the lakeshore.
The air went from dark trees shadowing you to damp freshwater, begging to be played in and lapped at. Of course with the air so heavy from the moisture, it carried the Alphas scent better, and soon you were whining with need, pulling Steve up short when he heard the sharp noise, ears perked and the tip of his tail, cricking in concern for you. Trotting back, and inhaling against you, his muzzle poking around, to search where you might be hurt, is when he caught the reason why. Dragging in your aroma, the Alpha started nipping in affection at your neck as you tilted it, careful not to bite hard, his tongue lolling over your forehead and ears, over your eyes and muzzle.
Essentially any who come near you would smell him, that you were his and his alone. He wasn't willing to share your and would kill any that threatened the two of you, anyone who would dare lay an unwanted hand on you. In return you rubbed your chest against his, licking under his chin, and nuzzling against him in respect for who he was, his leadership of the pack and yourself. Your wolf had no qualms giving herself to Steve, it was only your human selves that made this complicated. The two of you weaved around each other in circles, a courtship dance before bounding off together to escape the treeline and stretch out in a run across the stony beach, crisscrossing back and forth in harmony. Neither pulling ahead of the other, although Steve was well aware giving the chance to let loose, you could easily outtake him.
Both of you slowed to a trot, shoulder to shoulder, brushing up against each other once in a while before pulling apart, you tilted towards the water's edge, and bit at the water, spraying it in play. Steve sat at the edge, tilting his head watching as you pawed at it with a growl, wading in further with your tail happily wagging back and forth. Finally you slipped beyond where you could reach and started swimming in short bursts. Steve on the other hand was content to watch you play, settling himself down with a groan on the stones, his head following your back and forth movements in the water. His ears perked when you disappeared for a moment underneath, only to see you pop back up closer to shore and slowly making your way out.
Your wolfish grin gave you away as dripping wet you padded up to him. Making him flash his canines at you in warning. You faltered a bit, but then continued on, the warning rumbles getting deeper as he followed you, pinning his ears back. You came close enough and then shook vigorously, spraying the scrambling Alpha, who returned to wrestle you to the ground, unable though to catch you, the two of you started dancing across the beach again in play. Bowed bodies, slapping forepaws on the ground, high waving tails, barks and yips at each other.
Further away, Sam and Sara sat just out of your two’s sight on a ledge, watching there Alpha do something he never really did with another. Sara's head tilted up to her mate, whining excitedly and nuzzling into his fur, before moving to a stand and she padded away to give their Alpha privacy. Sam watched with a tilt of his head at the courtship dance a moment longer before spinning away to join his mate, the two of them running in a similar manner to the deeper forest. Down below, the two of you sprinted off again, Steve leading you back into another part of the forest, continuing to take you around the lake for the rest of the morning and part of the afternoon, human worries aside. The wolves were enjoying the freedom these forms got to enjoy. You two only returned after exhaustion started to set in from the quick shifts and night before.
You stumbled into Steve once you two reached The Compound. Shouldering you forward and nudging you to go up the steps before him, you push inside the house while he shifts right on the porch, grabbing clothes and stuffing legs into a pair of pants once more, the rest of his clothing hanging off his forearm. Digging the phone out of his pocket, he checked to see if he missed anything while away with You. Sure enough he had a few messages. One from Buck- He's on the move, i’m following behind. I will be sure to let you know where we end up. The tracker must have been traveling by the road, and knowing Bucky he probably stole a vehicle in town. The next was from Stark- Pepper and I will be up with Natasha soon Steve. Steve arched a brow reading the New Yorks Alphas message. He had forgotten the New York Alphas were coming to.
But he wasn't surprised, Steve would welcome him, the two Alphas having made a pact years ago.
<We have to keep Stark away from our mate.>
She's fine, we're not mated and he has his Pepper. Stop worrying.
<You were there when her Little Wolf called to us. I bet she's just waiting for us inside now, and you should go take care of her, she's tired.>
Curious to see what you were actually doing, He went inside, calling out your name, and you came out of your bedroom, rubbing at your eyes with a yawn. “Mmmh right here. I'm starving.” Again you were wearing just his shirt, and what seemed to be nothing else, since they fell to mid-thigh, and he groaned softly just seeing it.
<You could go see you know what's under the bottom of that shirt..> The wolf rumbled, and Steves nostrils flared to hold himself back, the wolf snickering at the human's reaction.
Yes, I could... The wolf licked his muzzle, suddenly very interested in this new change, pushing up from where he had been resting to a stand. Pushing, for the Alpha to claim her. Steve inhaled her scent, the sweetness of her committed to memory now, but he really wouldn't get enough of it, and it took away his common sense, no he wanted her in a way Steve had never wanted a she-wolf. Not even Alana could compare to the way you have him captured. And you didn't even know.
Your hair cascaded down over your shoulders as you brushed past the Alpha, sniffing the air for something. You followed your wriggling nose around, opening cupboards and such. Steve leaned on his elbows, watching with a quirked brow as you would go to tiptoes to spin the other way, searching still with closed eyes, the tip of your nose lifted.
“What are you looking for Little One?” Steve chuckled in response when you yanked two cupboards open, scanning boxes.
“I'm looking for... THIS!” You arch up to reach well above your head whining as your fingertips just can't reach the red cereal box with Capn' Crunch on the front. The back of shirt lifting to show the flowered panties you were wearing, and Steve's heart jumped in his chest, the Wolf rumbling at the sight of you all stretched out, trying to catch the box. “Steve can you help me please?” You bit your lip in your efforts. Steve pushed off the counter and wrapped his hands around your hips to lift you, making you yip in surprise while looking back at the Alpha who was smirking. “Go ahead Little One, get your prize.”
Your hand grasped around the box, and he eased you back to your feet, his chest brushing against your back and making your breath hitch in your throat, resisting the urge to arch back into him. The tension rippling between you two makes you swallow, and take a few shallow breaths. You can feel his fingers grasping the curve of your hip a little harder than normal, that maybe his breathing stopped in the moment, waiting to see how you would react. Your Little Wolf stretched, a silent movement in your mind till her yellow eyes snapped on in a glow, rumbling softly. <Reach out for him Y/N...> Your body as if against your will turned to face him, looking up into vibrant blues that were searching your face matching the way yours were, your gaze falling from his eyes to his lips, the plump softness that even though the rest of him was hard masculine, they weren't. You couldn't lie having thought about them skimming down your body while you laid in his guest room in the night, when he was just on the opposite side. To feel his hands as they were now, but not with clothing between the two, just completely bare, skin to skin. To feel the Alpha cage you in so you had to submit to him... Steve’s head started to lower, and yours tipped up, both drawing in deep breaths drowning in each other's aroused scent.
So when the sharp knock sounded at the door, Steves hold on your hips tightened at you tensing and the alpha growled in an aggressive way that sounded nowhere close to human. You immediately pulled back, clutching your cereal box at your chest and the connection was lost. So fragile in it's beginning that it shattered as soon as the knock snapped them both back to there surroundings. Steve's wolf was snarling at whomever was on the other side, and Steve just rumbled when he saw you retreating away from him, and to disappear down the hall towards the guest room. Fuck... Rubbing the tension off his face, he called out “Come in.”
The door popped open to Natasha strolling in, the redhead smirking and her green eyes went up and down the tensed Alpha, cocking a brow. “well hello to you to. Sent you a text message but...” Her nostrils flared and a knowing look simmered in her eyes. “See you've been busy.” Steve rolled his eyes at the she-wolf, beckoning her to come on in, whatever there was, it was done for this moment. “I heard Tony came with Pepper as well?” The Alpha asked her as she settled in a stool, nodding. “Yea, Sam and Sara are with them right now, discussing the broken equipment so you have a few minutes. I told them I would let you know they were here.” Natasha looked around the dwelling, picking up little signs of you here and there. “And your woman. I heard you took in someone off the border.”
“She's not MY woman.” Steve corrected her. “How soon can you join Bucky on the road.”
<Yes she is Steve. You just have to bond with her.>
That's correct I haven't, so she's not mine.
Natasha tapped her nails against the marble countertop, studying Steve. “No... no she's not. Not like you two connected on the full moon run, no one saw you two run as a team. No ones noticed all this mess right here... “ Natasha waved a hand at Steve as if confirming the rumors she's been told. “Or that there was a perfectly good guest cabin at the other end of The Compound set up just for such an occasion. Can't feel the tension in here at all, nope.” Natasha smirked at her Alpha. Why did he send for her again?
<Natasha is one of your strongest wolves and she doesn't just bow down cause your Alpha. Fuck I missed her.> The wolf howled to his packmate, clearly siding with her.
Steve was getting so tired of everyone pointing it out to him, and he rumbled out as he turned away from Natasha and snapped the cupboard you had opened closed. “You didn't answer my question about Barnes.”
“Yes of course Steve, I can probably hit the road in the next hour and meet up with him. I just need the details. Welcome home Natasha, we missed you Natasha” she grumbled.
“Sorry Nat, I missed you since you've been at Starks.” Steve apologized and went back to business, Steve filled her in before he went to go meet Tony and Pepper.
In your room you were sitting on your bed, stuffing a mouth full of Capn' Crunch in your mouth, chewing without enjoying it. Your mind was to busy processing what had happened, those urges riddling through your gut that you never felt before. Your Little Wolf paced back and forth, sniffing the air once in a while to catch the she-wolfs scent in the kitchen. <What is she doing here? Is she trying to take Steve from us?>
“When the hell you get jealous?” you happened to say out loud, and the Little Wolf twisted in your mind, going to lay down, acting disinterested. <I'm not. Besides, you were the one who almost jumped him.>
Another mouthful of cereal and a mumbled. “With your help, what the fuck was that. It's never been... like that before,” you recalled the heat pooling so low, your skin tingling to press closer, rub against him. You, Little Wolf, snickered low in your mind, and you gut clenched at her next words.
<The start of your heat when you're in the proximity of a male you're compatible with Y/N.>
Oh shit.... oh shit oh shit oh shit. Your eyes widened and you whine loudly.
<Oh shit is right...>
“Y/N? I'm headed to go meet with a visiting set of Alphas... “Steve's voice came closer to your door and you rolled off the bed, grabbing shorts and stuffing them on, right when his head popped in the door.
“Be right with you.” you say hurriedly, and his gaze takes in your rushed features.
“Oh, you don't have to by any means, I was just letting you know.” He mentioned, but you shook your head and pulled your hair back into a ponytail.
“I'm ready.” You smoothed your hands down your shirts and fuck didn't you just look cute with his tee all tied up one side again and shorts, getting a bit sunkissed in your skin.
“Okay, we can walk with Nat, so you can meet her.”
Heading out to wander to the garage where Tony was, the two women exchanged greetings, and followed a bit behind Steve, checking each other out. The Little Wolf just stared at Natasha while you shook her hand, you smiled at her. The Little Wolf tilted her head, still checking her out. You weren't sure if that was a good thing out not. Usually the wolf knew right away. After a few moments of silence, the Little Wolf announced to you. <Shes not a threat, you can read it, Steve is like a brother to her, just her Alpha.>
Seriously? That's what that was about?
<Someone has to look out for him>
And as soon as that happened, things just fell into place. That five-minute walk ended with you and Natasa laughing at some story she was telling you, how Steve once fell off his own dock into the lake, you were snorting, Nat was smirking, Steve was looking over his shoulder at the pair of them, hiding a smile, and saying in a much sterner mocking alpha voice.  “Do I have to separate you two?”
Natasha looked at you, and snorted in the most unwomanly like way. “He thinks he's tough, Y/N, he's a softy I swear. Alright, if I'm gonna meet up with Barnes, I gotta go. See you two crazy lovebirds around.” Nat shot out as she walked away, you blushing and Steve moaning to himself. Fucking Natasha. From the open doorway, Sara leaned against it, and reached inside to push a button, the main door lifting to show Pepper working with Sam looking over the parts inventory, and Tony was at the workbench, twiddling with the broken part from the other day. “Fixed it! I mean, something any genius can do. Oh hey Steve.” The New York Alpha grinned over his sunglasses at him, wiping his hands clean on a rag. “Nice to see ya, how have you been? We've been GREAT, thanks for asking.”
“Hello Tony" Steve uttered, and you shyly stayed behind him for a moment, not missing the slight aggravation in his tone. But it warmed when he greeted the other woman. “Pepper, I'm sure Sam is making you quite an order list.” The other woman chuckled, tucking her tablet back in her bag. “Its not to bad Steve, about half as much as last time.” She went over to Tony and leaned into him slightly, his arm immediately going around her waist. Steve decided to let you be for now, sensing that you were a bit nervous at the newcomers. He knew you would come around when you were ready for him to introduce you.
“Thank you for escorting Natasha back, it was very generous of you.” Steve reached out his hand and the two men shook, Tony rolled his shoulder in a nonchalant way. “No biggie, Pepper, and I been needing to do something away, and I wanted to check on Wanda and Pietro.”
“Well Pietro isn't here at the moment, he's doing a deal with some investors for me out west at the moment, I sent that email to you, but Wanda I'm sure will be more than thrilled to see you.”  Sara already had stepped away to go find her, and Tony nodded. “Yes, but first Steve, we need to talk. Privately.”
You tensed up a bit and Steve let an assuring hand rest in the small of your back instinctively. All is okay Little One... “Of course, how about we go back to my office, Pepper knows her way around well enough. This here is Y/N by the way, she just arrived, so she's not entirely familiar with everything quite yet.”
Sam stepped forward and winked. “Come on you two, let these two have at it. In fact, I think today would be a great day to do a community meal. You two want to help me set up?” Steve was relieved to see you brighten up at the idea, and with a parting look to him, you went off, discussing what needed to be prepped. Tony waited till they were out of earshot.
“Brock and Alanna popped up on the council's radar again. They seemed to have joined a pack, selling unmated wolves off.” Tony started sharing and Steve guy clenched. “I'm aware of the pack... that's actually where Y/N came from. Showed up on the border, running from Trackers. The fuckers actually had the balls to cross into our lands, and into my fucking cabin to remove her. Why I needed Natasha back. She's the only one I trust getting us more inside information.”
Tonys gaze went back to you following his Pepper and Sam, shaking his head. “Getaway? How... I've been told they have that whole pack under the fucking strictest rules by there Alpha, Pierce. He's a real piece of work. In fact, he's part of the reason the council is getting uneasy. They are selling off unmated wolves to human hunters, although we have no proof. Yet. Just a body of a young wolf slaughtered online, bragging. We're trying to look into it... but... “ he shook his head, growling from deep in his chest, the situation obviously had the other Alpha tense.
“Even more reason to dismantle them, Tony, they are disrupting the laws we do have, exposing us to the world that's not ready for us, and basically torturing. Our own kind. It's not like the humans can be blamed in this.” Steve said darkly. “I have no problem going down there myself and taking care of it. Especially if Brock and Alanna are involved. I should have ended Brock that day, but... “
Tony looked at Steve and nodded. “Yes you should, but that was then, and this is now. Look, don't do anything too rash, okay? Council isn't going to want an all-out pack war until we have all the facts. Just have Natasha collect, not assassinate.”
Steves wolf growled at Tony, flattening his ears. <Who made him Alpha of the Mountain Pack?> Steve snapped his own teeth in irritation, and cast the man a sharp blue-eyed glare. “I will do as I see fit with my wolves. Natasha will do as I ask.” With that he pushed off to go back outside, and join the people gathering tables together to bring out to the middle of the compound, Tony stood there for a moment, watching this large family that even welcomed his Alpha partner Pepper as one of his own, and worried for what was to come. As the voice to the packs about what the alpha council issued as law., a council set up specifically to protect the wolves, he couldn't help but feel he was thrown in the middle. Steve had always been against the monitoring of the wolves, but never put up much of a fight cause he saw the benefits it did do. Little did Steve know they were now drawing up new laws, and they would be enforced sooner rather then later if this mess with Pierce wasn't resolved quietly. Tony just couldn't see how that would happen.
The atmosphere later that night turned into a party, lights strung up around the trees, and a large bonfire, everyone brought more food then even a huge pack could eat, and now people were either dancing or sitting around the fire roasting marshmallows. Steve you watched from the corner of your eye laughing with a group of others he sat with, sharing a beer. You sat with Pepper, Tony and Sara just talking, your feet stretched out towards the fire to warm them. Tony was talking to Sara with his arm hanging around Pepper, about some program he had set up with other Alphas. And you held up a hand as if you had a question. Tony gaze fell on you and he barked out a laugh. “You got a question for the professor, lay it on me kid.”
“Why was Natasha with you in the first place, and Wanda... She's your wolf?” Your brows arched, and from across the fire you could see Steve push to a stand, looking around till he caught sight of you lounging in the grass, starting to make his way over. “Ahh, yes. One of my.. OUR proudest little organizations.” Tony corrected once Steve reached them, the long-legged man falling to sit next to you, leaning back on one hand and nodding. “Yes, ours is correct. It took a while, but Tony was diligent with convincing other Alphas to join in the idea.” Tony grinned all proud of it while Pepper looked at him, parting his chest. “Down boy down.”
“Not what you usually say to me Pep, but we will let it slide.” Tony teased her, dropping an innocent kiss to her cheek, and he returned to the question. “So we take wolves that can easily travel, not have too many obligations in the pack, and play them in an on-hands internship in another pack. Natasha and Clint, have extraordinary skills they learned from being in the human's military programs. Something I have a hand in the human world. In exchange Steve has two of my best more natural magic wolves. All this here, just strengthens there natural abilities, as well as Steve being somewhat really good at managing an industrious business.” Steve shook his head in embarrassment, and you grinned at him, seeing the flare-up of warmth in his cheeks. “You're overselling it Tony.”
“Your logging corporation has reached the top in the area. You choose to keep it small time and you know it.” Tony snorted at the other Alpha. “Anyways, although us Alphas don't get along for long periods of time in each others company doesn't mean we can't work together. So far not too many packs are willing to “loan” out there wolves as they see it, but those of us that do, it's created stronger bonds and our wolves are getting the education they need to succeed in this life. Any questions?”
You shake your head, getting an understanding of what they were doing. “No, I think I'm all set.” You naturally fall into Steves side, your eyes starting to feel heavy. Your wolf is quite happy in this moment, warm from the fire, settled in a loose ball napping in your mind. You try to pay attention to the conversation, but it's becoming harder, cause it's so warm, and Steve smells so good and relaxing. Not the lust-driven like before, but this time it's more of just him. A masculine pine and woodsmoke, a bit of just him that has no other explanation, the desire in your body to curl into him was strong, and instinctively you pressed into his side a bit more.
Steve looked down at you, eyes half shut and curled up into him a bit, he wondered if you knew you were even doing that. You felt different too him, he let his nose brush lightly near your hair, but didn't quite pick up on what it was. And he would keep you like that, even with Peppers and Tony’s gaze falling frequently to the scene while they chatted with Sara, who also was yawning,if he was able to. Sam arriving to check in on Sara, catching her yawn. “Still tired from the Run?” In which Sara nodded and took his hand to stand. “You know what, I know I'm exhausted as well" Steve piped up and you nodded at Tony and Pepper to in agreement. Pulling away from him, Steve felt a bit deflated having to lose you like that. “If you two aren't headed home tonight, your welcome to use that Cabin at the end.”
“Thanks, Rogers, we will probably head out in the morning, see if Wanda is ready to come home or not. See you all later.” Tony sprang up rather quickly and helped Pepper up, the two of them leaving hand in hand. Steve turned his attention to you, but you were already standing and stretching, making Steve groan at that little bit of skin flashing on your belly before you offered a hand to help him up. Steve stretched himself, his back flexing beneath the shirt, and scuffed his boot through the burning logs, scattering sand to kill the fire for the night. You waited till he was ready, and the two of you headed towards the dark cabin by the lake, each saying goodnight and going to your respective bedrooms, both to debate with your wolves and be frustrated. Even after your shower, you could feel your need to breed starting to take effect, your body heating more, and urges long dead inside of you taking hold.
Another state over Bucky stood in a wooded area in a crouch, once in a while pulling out his cell phone and having it on the dim setting, muttering to himself. “Come on Natasha.. where you at?” He had gotten a text hours ago from her saying she was almost there, and he already had time to skirt around at least the northern border of where the Tracker had crossed back into with his fallen brother. It was not quite as large as The Mountain Packs land, but still fairly large. He suspected Pierce didn't visit this end as often as he should from the scent lines. Or there was heavy human traffic, cause the packs border stopped at a tree line edging the town, and there were ATV lines everywhere. Within minutes he was checking his phone again, and sure enough there was no call from Natasha. “Fucking hell Nat... “He moved to stand up, when there was a hot growling breath behind him, and he spun around to almost smack into a slender red wolf, she bounced back before getting wailed, her green eyes dancing in laughter as she sidled back up to the man, licking his face.
Shoving her gently to get away from him, he snapped at her. “Must you do that? Sicko... One of these days I'm really going to hurt you.” The she-wolf flipped her muzzle up at him in a 'bring it’, wagging her tail. Buckys features softened slightly, at Natashas play. “Yea I missed you too. But don't come to close, they know what I smell like. You ready for this?” She bounded to him once more, licking his cheek before disappearing into the brush leading to the border.
“Well answers that" Bucky sighed as he rubbed his cheek dry. From further off, he heard Natasha's sharp howl, holding the White Wolf in him back to answer, Bucky waited, and sure enough another series of howls answered in a threatening tone. Moving to a stand, he wandered closer, staying out of sight to watch what happened. Natasha paced back and forth along the border, throwing her head back now and then to howl, taunting the pack's inability to get to her faster. Then three rather shaggy wolves came trotting up, circling around her, snapping at her face and haunches to try to get her to flinch, submit to them. The she wolf merely yawned at them, waiting for the invitation to cross over. Thats when Bucky saw him. He smelled like an Alpha... Kind of, even though he wasn't nearly the size of Steve, and even the smaller Tony. Bucky was confused for a moment at what he was seeing. But Pierce had a  staggering stride, the way his head was held up and even his tail, higher ranking than those skirting around Natasha, trying to get a reaction out of her, they all lowered drastically in his presence.
Once Pierce approached her, the others stopped, all dropping to there bellies, Bucky tensed watching as he stared Natasha down, she slowly lowered, not nearly as the others did, but low enough that she could flash her neck at him, and he accepted. Now she was in, as they started to head further into the terrirotry, she gave a slight wag of her tail for Buckys benefit.
<I don't like this.. > The white wolf growled, uneasy shifting, and Bucky agreed with him. It felt wrong. I know... I don't like it either. Why we're sticking around for a few days, just in case Natasha needs a quick way out.
<Something is not right with them, Pierce is no Alpha, he looks like he's supposed to be a beta. How did he get this pack?> Bucky turned to leave back towards the road when his entire world went black, something hit him right in the head and the man just crumbled. A laughing voice sniggered as they prodded him with his foot. “Now we got both these bitches. Throw a collar on him and let's get out of here.”
Back at Steve’s cabin you tossed and turned in your bed, sweat slicking your body, and your breaths were soft gasps of fear, your eyes screwed tight as you were stuck somewhere in your mind. Flashes of being screamed at, a belt snapping above you in a threat as you huddled on the floor. A hissing voice you were too familiar with. “You will fucking bond with him, he played good money for you!” Your eyes would lift to see a male strut close, his hands fisting in your hair to drag you across the room. “I paid for a willing female, she's already refused both bites. I want a refund. If the bitch ain't gonna submit, I don't want her. ” It all swirled together in a jumble of memories, and your wolf was frantic trying to snap you out of it, pawing and throwing her body against the wall of your mind she was trapped behind. She even tried using her fangs, to break you loose, screaming. <WAKE UP!> and you did, snapping awake you sprang out of your bed, panting, eyes wild as the looked around for an escape.
Then it all came back, you escaped, you were with The Mountain Pack, and Steve was the alpha here. Steve... you don't know what compelled you to do it, but you padded out of that bedroom, the smell of fear following you, and you lightly scratched at his door with a whimper. Waiting for your Alpha to come open it, to let you in, keep you safe from the memories. That was what Alphas did, they were protectors. When the door open and Steve tilted his head curiously, rubbing at his face, he immediately perked. “Y/N? What's wrong?”
Your fear his him first, that acrid stinging scent that mixed with your honeysuckle ferns immediately made his heart jump in his chest, set his wolf on edge looking for danger. You look so small in his doorway, your eyes wide and you voice was so soft he barely heard it.
“I don't want to be alone.” And he inhaled your scent, it was more than that, fuck, she's close to being in heat. It was a risk to Steve, it could send him into a rut, and then there would be no stopping the two of you. No matter what you both actually wanted. But he stood there looking at you, and he knew that he couldn't turn you away. Stepping back, his bedroom door opened further in invite, and you stepped in, this time without hesitation, the door closing out the rest of the world.

The next day found you in a state of distress. You barely got your things from your room and stuffed them into your bag, certain that you had forgotten something, yet classes were the last thing in your mind. All you could think about was the previous night, and more importantly, what you were going to do about him.
It was a fact that he was attractive. He wasn’t just physically attractive; he was one of the most interesting people you’d ever met. He was good at his field of studies, but you knew he was an amazing dancer, as you’d seen him dance with Taeyong every now and then. He was intelligent, but at the same time completely oblivious of his surroundings. In other words, you found him both mesmerizing and adorable, and that wasn’t helping you.
It was also a fact that you were dating someone else and that you couldn’t let this happen. You were determined to stop this before even happening, by finding him that same day and spending some time with him to clear the waters. He probably didn’t want it to happen either and he was just caught up in the heat of the moment. That late at night, alone, with a pretty view, that was the perfect setting.
You put your lipstick on and took your jacket. You also grabbed Yuta’s charger and headed to class, only to find Chan, BamBam and Yugyeom waiting for you at the entrance of your house.
“We’re walking you to class whether you like it or not,” Chan said.
And that was how you ended up describing the entire night to your friends, who could neither believe what happened with Jonghyun nor with Yuta.
“So, wait a second. You’re telling me that it doesn’t concern you that you fantasized about Yuta while you were making out with Jonghyun?” The way BamBam made it sound was awful, yet you were in denial.
“No, I mean, it was just that he was in my mind before that. Seeing him at the entrance and all,” you replied.
“Okay, even if we overlook that part, you guys almost kissed!” Chan added and Yugyeom almost chocked on his water.
“True, but I’m telling you it was the heat of the moment. I was in the mood and all anyway, and I don’t know what goes on in Yuta’s head, so I guess it was just the emotional stress that we had at that moment that led us there. I don’t know how else to describe this.” You sighed.
“So, what will you do now?”
“Well, I have his charger and I’m planning to give it to him after class. We’re going out at six anyway.”
“You really think he’s going to show up after all that?” Chan added and he had a point.
“Then I’ll have to find him.”
The rest of the day was practically the same as all the others. You went to class, took your notes, laughed with your friends, but didn’t visit Jonghyun’s place for your regular coffee. You saw him texting you, wondering where you were, but didn’t think much of it and sent him a text that you were busy that day. It was true since you were going out with Yuta. This whole situation had to be cleared up. You pulled out the uni’s schedule and found out where Yuta’s last class was. You said goodbye to your friends, who begged you not to do anything stupid, and headed to Yuta’s classroom, where you saw him leaving with some of his friends. Jonghyun had a shift at the coffee shop during that time, so he wouldn’t be there.
You took a deep breath and approached him. “Yuta, hi.” You watched him turn around and look at you like he’d seen a ghost.
“Y/N, hi.” He left his friends and came next to you.
“I brought your charger, and I came here because I knew I wouldn’t be able to call you.”
“Oh, um, thanks,” he said, obviously flustered. “Uh…”
“So, should we get going?” you asked, saving him from the awkward moment.
“You mean, like, out?” he asked.
“Yeah. Do you know any good places for coffee or drinks?”
“I know a good cocktail house if you’re interested,” he said, still unsure of what was going on. He wasn’t going to question it though, hoping that you hadn’t taken seriously what had happened the other night. You were dating someone else after all.
You walked for a while and found the place he told you about. You sat at a corner table just to be able to look at the rest of the customers as they passed by. It was something you occasionally liked to do. You talked about your day, your classes, and a horrible professor that gives a hard time to his students. You seemed to be hitting it off quite well, which was relatively weird, considering how awkward the previous night had left the both of you. That was what you were thinking about all night, not wanting to end your conversation in order to bring up an issue that would probably resolve on its own.
At least that was what you thought while drinking the first cocktail. The second came, and you had started loosening up. You could see that he was more relaxed around you too, as he was making more jokes and he was laughing more. Sometimes you told him jokes only to see him smile, as his smile could literally light up the entire room.
“Yuta,” you said.
“Yeah, Y/N?” he replied, in a fake-serious attitude, trying to be funny.
“I’m not saying this as a joke. I’m having fun with you. I like it that we’re hanging out. We should do this more often, if you want to as well.”
“Yeah, it would be…nice.” You could see him retreat into his own world for a few seconds before the effect of the alcohol made him loosen up again.
After your night out, you hadn’t discussed a single thing with him. It was as if last night had never happened, but at the same time as if it had changed everything between you. In your mind, you were getting closer to each other. You were becoming friends. You could be comfortable around him from then on, and you could, for example, tell him to come over again that night when he offered to walk you home.
You walked inside the apartment together and saw Taeyong, V and Johnny sitting at the living room. “So, here you are,” Taeyong said.
“Yeah, we went out for drinks. Sorry we didn’t tell you guys,” Yuta replied.
“It’s okay if you’re finally okay around each other. As long as you’re not fighting, we’re fine,” Johnny reassured him, but you could see Taeyong had something else on his mind.
“Y/N, can I talk to you inside?” he said and led you inside his room, while Yuta joined the others. He closed the door and looked at you dead in the eye. “What are you doing?”
“What do you mean?”
“I was half-asleep last night, and I didn’t react, but I saw you guys. I saw how you were looking at each other and I know that look.” He crossed his arms.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Yeah, there was a heated moment, but that’s it. It’s over now.”
“I don’t know how you can be so insensitive. You’re the one with the boyfriend. You’re the one who pulls all the strings, because he’s helpless as far as you’re concerned. I didn’t say anything until now because I thought that with your boyfriend and all he would forget about it eventually, but apparently you’re giving him ground to move!” Taeyong was whispering, but it was like he was yelling at you.
“What are you talking about? He hated me until a few days ago. He can’t be that in love with me!” you protested.
“He hasn’t told me anything, but I know it when I see it happen. I’ve seen it before. Get your shit together and stop giving him false hope.” He was right. If Yuta had feelings for you, which you were sure he didn’t, you had to do something about it. The truth was that this wasn’t the perfect timing for this to happen. You had started developing feelings for him as well and you didn’t want to admit it to yourself. You liked Jonghyun. He was perfect for you, and you were determined to cherish this feeling.
“Fine. I’ll be careful from now on. I’m still not convinced that he likes me though.
What Taeyong told you that night really got to you. Spending time with Yuta, getting closer and closer to him as time went by, it was a strange feeling for you. It wasn’t like you were with his other friends, because you sometimes spent time with them as well. He was different, and you knew it. It scared you, even. You didn’t know why and how he affected you so much, but you were determined not to let this happen. You knew where your place was, and that was next to Jonghyun.
That night, you only went back to your living room to say goodnight to everyone and didn’t come out again. You changed into your pajamas and laid on your bed, grabbing your phone to spend some time scrolling on tumblr to forget what had just happened. You just wanted to relax and to think that everything would resolve on its own eventually, so your social media accounts were exactly what you needed.
At some point, you heard a knock on your door. “Can I come in?” It was Yuta.
“Uh, yeah,” you replied, and the door opened. You saw him get a bit flustered to see you in your shorts and crop top, but you tried to brush it off.
“Why didn’t you come back inside?” he asked, and he was right. You had disappeared right after your night out, which wasn’t the most logical thing to have happened.
“I’m just feeling a bit tired, really. Maybe I had too much to drink.” That was a blatant lie, and you knew it.
“Are you sure it’s not anything else?” he asked. He had every right to ask. You had practically ghosted him.
“Yeah, don’t worry about me.” You smiled at him, hoping that he’d smile back. You wanted to see him smile once more before the night ended, because it could be the last time that you’d be the one to make him smile.
