My mom’s caique Maisy has an obsession with trying to steal my iced tea and mom’s coffee, so today I went out and bought her some chamomile tea of her very own so she could have a flavored drink that’s bird safe with us

She absolutely loved it :)

Animal of the day: White-bellied caique!

The white-bellied caique is a species of bird that is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. They are 23-25 cm long and weigh about 155 g.

In captivity, white-bellied caiques are known as the clowns of the parrot community. They exhibit playful behaviours such as hopping or frequently lying on their backs. They can be taught tricks and can mimic environmental sounds but cannot imitate human languages.

Because most of their diet is fruit, they act as seed dispersers in the wild!

They're in my city's small bird zoo that exclusively takes care of rescue and hurt birds.

They're very cute and whistle back at you.

They’re adorable! I’ve always known them as white-bellied caiques, they’re pretty common in aviculture and they’re total clowns!
