If you are a reader of fanfics and are looking for a complete and brilliant story to read about our beloved Jamie and Claire then may I recommend "Downhill" by WickedGoodBooks. It's 51 chapters of a well-written modern day tale, complicated just enough to keep you on your toes. Angst without violence. Sadness, but lots of love. As I understand it, the original story had been posted on Tumblr a few years back so many of you may already be aware of it. Somehow, I had missed it. I've read it through twice now. So good.

bird of paradise; what was the best thing that happened to you this month?

I got to have dinner with the family that I nannied for two summers ago, who are my absolute favorite. The fall after I worked for them was when things started going downhill with my drinking, and eventually after missing a babysitting date last spring I hadn’t seen the kids in over a year. I stayed in contact with the mom, who works for a non-profit women’s recovery center, and she was incredibly supportive and just generally wonderful. She reached out early last month to see if I wanted to come over for dinner, and this week I start working for them again one day a week now that their summer nanny has left for college. I’m so excited and the kids are both such joys. It’s a nice piece of tangible proof that I’m no longer the person I was in my active addiction, and that staying sober means I get to have the things that are the most meaningful and joyful to me.

I haven’t worn jeans in probably over a year, I studied vocal music for nine years, I once spent a night sleeping outside a train station in the German countryside (not drinking related), I’ve crashed a Segway, I read Valley of the Dolls every summer (wild that I ended up an addict, right?)

How about something completely new? And a little more than just a line:

“Sassenach.”

Turning to look at him over my shoulder, I did a double-take, my hands letting go of the glass vial I’d been holding. It was a good thing, then, that it didn’t have far to go to the table. I stood slowly, turning to face my husband fully. He was, at all times, striking to look at. Nude was my preferred way to see him if given a choice, but if not, then this is exactly the way I had always remembered him in our decades apart, and my fingertips moved to my lips, taking him in.

There he stood, in all of his Highlander glory, looking as fine – better than – he did on our wedding day. His kilt was proudly Fraser colors, and then there was his coat on top of it. The one he’d worn then, in our time before, had been his father’s. I had no idea where it was or what had become of it, but he looked every bit the Laird as he stood before me, hair pulled back and neatly tied. His sword lay at his hip, and before I could understand what was happening, my heart cracked, just a bit, tears blurring my vision.

21) Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?

I admire anyone who is willing to take a part of themselves, put it into words, and publish it for everyone to read, judge, and comment on. I admire different people in this fandom for different reasons, but those are can write from a vulnerable spot and let themselves be bare, tend to write some of the fic I admire most. It’s not limited to one single writer.

30) In contrast to 29 is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at?

Not in this fandom. Everything I’ve ever read that’s been recommended to me has deserved all of the love it’s gotten.

Hi I am looking for a fic where Claire gets pregnant from a one night stand with Jamie on holiday. Jamie was meant to meet her, he has an accident and doesn't turn up. Years later Claire unknowingly befriends Jamie's dad and then discovers about Jamie's accident and they meet up and start a relationship. I cannot remember what it is called or who wrote it. Jamie is a skier in the fic. Last chapter Brian told Claire why Jamie doesn't speak to him after he sold Lallybroch. Thanks in advance.

Hydra: Favourite sound?

Running water. Oceans, lakes, and rivers, in that order. It’s so steady, almost meditative, which is such an interesting juxtaposition to the rushing, ever changing nature of a body of water. I’ve from Minnesota so I’ve been around water my whole life and I’ve always loved it, but the ocean especially is always such a treat. I went at least every year until I was in college, but I miss it terribly. 

Black Eye Galaxy: Do you believe in love at first sight?

Contrary to my wildly romantic nature, I don’t. I think such feelings can be attributed to limerence, which is fading and doesn’t actually take into account much of anything about who the object of your affection really is. Real love, which is inherently healthy and certainly can be difficult to come by, isn’t about that rush of butterflies or feeling like you need to be around that person all the time. It’s a conscientious and intentional choice so allow yourself to be seen, over and over again, even when it’s unnerving and messy, at your deepest level, for everything wonderful and not so wonderful and contradictory you are, and giving that in return to the other person. 

Supernova: What’s one thing you want to do before you die?

I’ve always wanted to be a mother, although as I’ve gotten older I do question it sometimes. It feels a little irresponsible, in light of everything going on in the world, to create new life having no idea what kind of world I’ll be giving to them, and the kinds of things they might have to face, but perhaps people have always felt like that. Lifestyle wise, too, as an actor, I struggle with things like if I’m working the way I hope to be, I won’t be home at night to read them bedtime stories and things like that. Ultimately, within my own spirituality, I know that so long as I keep making the next right choice, the things that are meant to happen will happen for me, but this is one that I think about a lot.
