Arachnophobia: A bedrock edition mod

Hunstman spiders are active predators which spawn the same areas as wolf spiders (vanilla spiders) at a slightly less common rate. They behave mostly the same as wolf spiders, but are much faster and vary in size, larger huntsman spiders are more common in warmer climates.

Cellar spiders (also known as daddy longlegs) are common cave dwellers that solemn move unless disturbed. Upon spawning they will seek out or build a web and lie perfectly still until another mob touches it. Their venom isn't lethal, but beware that they can easily trap you in silk if you don't pay attention to where you're going.

The vinegaroon is a strange arachnid resembling a cross between a spider and a scorpion, they spawn in swamps and jungles in the dark. Vinegaroons are not venomous, but instead have the ability to spray acid projectiles from their abdomen. Real life vinegaroon acid is akin to vinegar (hence their name), but arachnophobia's vinegaroon sprays hydrochloric acid instead, and it can destroy some blocks.

Jumping spiders are commonly found in densely wooded biomes and are typically docile to players. Though they have very little health, they hit hard for their size and are quite agile, they also specialize in hunting other spiders and deal twice as much damage to arachnids. Jumping spiders can be tamed by giving them spider eyes, they can sit on your head and will immediately pounce on any threat. Like frogs, jumping spiders have three variants based on the climate they spawn in.

Whip spiders are cave dwelling arachnids which are not venomous, but they hit hard and they are absurdly fast. Whip spiders are highly aggressive and cannibalistic towards their own kind, but only sometime attack players unprovoked, every once in a while one will run up and punch you, launching you tens of blocks away. If a hostile mob is nearby, the whip spider will wave its "antennae", and will wave them more intensely if a particularly dangerous mob is near, just remember that the mob only has to be a potential threat to the whip spider, so it'll warn you if there's something less dangerous to players such as an iron golem.

The harvestman (also called the daddy longlegs, a title it shares with the cellar spider) is a harmless omnivore arachnid that spawns in roofed forests and redwoods. Harvestmen can be mounted if you feed them a poisonous potato, and controlled with a special item. If a predatory arachnid is nearby, the harvestman will panic and flee, becoming incredibly fast when mounted.

Neith is a powerful boss which can be summoned using a special eye rarely dropped by spiders, and alternates between melee, ranged and AOE attacks, and has the ability to control spiders. If you defeat Neith, she will reward you with a special armor which can be infused with the shed exoskeleton of an arachnid to gain their abilities, receiving both a buff and debuff (e.g. jumping spider armor allows you to jump super far, but it also makes you tiny).

The tarantula is a huge spider that sometimes spawns in caves above y coordinate 45 and cannot be controlled by neith, as she considers them to be heathens. Tarantulas are territorial and solemn go far from their home, and prefer to hunt at night. They will attack any other mob and will defend their territory fiercely from other tarantulas, once it's day they retreat to their caves, their aggro radius is halved and they will warn you before attacking.

One of serveral non-arachnids in the mod, moths are flying insects which commonly spawn at night in most overworld biomes and have a variety of biome specific variants, are frequently preyed upon by arachnids, especially web spiders such as the daddy longlegs. Moths are harmless although some variants are poisonous (they inflict debuffs if you hit them, but don't actually fight back), and will start to slowly die if they exist in the world for too long. Moths will often fly towards länterns, and will follow you if you hold one, they also have a rare chance to drop their wings which can be equipped.

The wolf spider is literally just the vanilla minecraft spider, but remodeled. It's behavior has not been altered in any way.

Like the wolf spider, the redback spider is the vanilla cave spider but redesigned.

Emperor scorpions can be found in tropical biomes at night. They are not very fast, but are large and powerful and can use their shield-like pincers to deflect attacks.

Deathstalkers are scorpions that spawn in arid biomes at night, especially in deserts. They are much smaller and weaker than emperors, but possess deadly venom.

A massive semi-aquatic arachnid, the thunder scorpion is a force to be reckoned with. Thunder scorpions do not spawn naturally, and instead are found in a similar way to the sniffer, since like the sniffer it is also an extinct prehistoric species.

Thunder scorpions can be raised and will be docile towards whoever raises them, but to anything and anyone else they can become aggressive, they start out very small and grow very slowly, but over a long time will continue to grow and become an eventually unstoppable killing machine. The modern day atmosphere is much different from that of the thunder scorpion's original time period, meaning that fully grown thunder scorpions slowly grow weaker until they inevitably die.

Hello Here ! It's been a long time since I published anything, right? But a few days ago, I had a little inspiration crisis when I saw the new tiny trailer that makes us hope for werewolves in the game very soon! 🤞 So, whether they're coming or not, at least we can still have a good mood with a new lunar loading screen! So I created some loading screens with images of the full moon from the game that I had in stock. And then I redesigned the luminous plumbob from the trailer, and arranged it my way! Like a continuation of my loading screens from this summer! 😉 I hope you can find your new loading screen among these!

You just have to put the package file in your Mods folder. But be careful, I remind you that you can only have one at a time in your game!

Hi, anon! I'm so excited for you to join our fandom's writing community!

I saw the ask to @awesomefringey, and I first want to say not to be too nervous about doing anything wrong for the fest. If you have any questions, just contact the mod(s) for help. Mods are usually so happy to help with anything you might be confused about. And if you need an extension, please please reach out to them instead of ghosting.

If you're in the writing process or just starting out, it can be really helpful to have a bit of a community to go to for help like a discord server of writers. There's one I know of that's especially for new(er) writers in our fandom... @new-writers-discord If that's too intimidating, a beta or even just a friend who will help you brainstorm or plan or read over the fic can be really helpful.

Another great resource we have in the fandom is the podcast @roseanddaggerpodcast In those episodes two really great writers (and one who is a very experienced beta!) talk about all kinds of writing topics that could be useful. Maybe check out episode 51 which is about planning a fic step by step and episode 53 about building a fic from a basic idea to an outline as those are probably the best ones to get you started.

When your fic is published, don't be afraid to promote it! Anyone who you see making fic recs on tumblr, I wouldn't hesitate to send your fic to any of them via dm or an ask or even just tagging them in the tags. If you want to look for some blogs like that, I'd check out the "28th appreciation" tag and you'll see all the people who make fic recs for the 28th. Feel free to tag me as well or send it to me! Some fic rec blogs that I know are active and will reblog your fic post are: @hlficlibrary and @thelarriefics and @1dmonthlyficroundup

This is a Complete Overhaul of the Specialty Lot Bin.

Every property (17 apartments and 2 hotels) has been edited, fixed, improved, cleaned, and now comes with a custom thumbnail. Many of the lots have been shrunk, and three of them have 2-Step foundations.

After installing these files, the next time you open your Specialty Lot Bin, it should look a lot better, and the apartments should be easier to use. Your sims will be able to move-in and start living - without having to worry about missing fire alarms, telephones, and nasty sim references.

Change Max Slope Value

Do you want to place lots where you want them? Regardless of a steep slope? Then this trick is for you!

- When you place one of the game's empty lots down in your hood - this mod allows lot placement without changing the terrain. Empty lots will no longer automagically flatten; you will be able to build according to the lay of the land. You can build off the side of a cliff with this mod!

- When placing lots from the LotBin (pre-built lots) - you can place them on slopes, and uneven terrain without issue. This will not change the terrain inside the lot; it will conform the terrain around the lot to match. You can populate the "ridge" in Belladonna Cove with houses now!

These lots were made with the UC installed. If you don't have all the EPs/SPs (or at least AL/M&G as your highest one,) you prolly can't use these! (I provided links below, for similar "empty lot" collections - some of them don't need all EP/SPs.)

This is a Complete Overhaul of the Lot Bin. Every lot has been fixed, improved, cleaned, and now comes with a custom thumbnail. Many of the lots have been shrunk, and several of them have 2-Step foundations... After installing these files, the next time you generate a new TS2 Saved Game your lot catalog ("Lot Bin") should look a lot better, and the houses should be easier to use. Your sims will be able to move-in and start living - without having to worry about missing fire alarms and telephones, nasty sim references, or if they paid too much for extra acreage they just don't need. I really tried to keep EA/Maxis' original intent for the houses in the Lot Bin. They are meant to be a "starting point" for your sim families. I tried to keep each lot's original 'flavor'... Every Lot Bin house/lot has been edited and has a custom thumbnail...

Welcome to the small rainy town of Mourningtide. There is little to do here, especially for bored young people on summer vacation. Little to do except explore, that is.

Hi! This is Icarus (@/icarianangel)! This is my collaborative multimedia project that I will be turning into a book when (if) it ends. Turn back if you don't want to participate, or just read it as it goes along!

PLOT INFO

This story is the tale of three teenagers (and some other characters, to be introduced later). Their names are Olivia, Noah, and Zilli. You can read about them in the character page or in the tag "the cast".

The tale takes place in the town Mourningtide, as mentioned above. This is a standard rainy, miserable little town, à la old detective stories. It is, however, a bit magical, as you will soon find out. Another important detail is that everyone in this world has object/animal heads, in the style of weirdcore. This is just a stylistic choice, but it will be mentioned. Each character's head type will be mentioned in their bio and art will be posted occasionally.

If we zoom a bit closer in, the story truly takes place in the Floodhouse, for which this blog and the story itself is named. This is a large abandoned manor house on the edge of town. You don't need to know anything else about this yet, as all will be revealed when the story begins.

PROJECT INFO

The Floodhouse will be told through a combination of story snippets, polls, asks, art, and potentially videos, as well as whatever else may come to mind in the moment. It will, for the most part, be linear, so if you are new, you can simply go to the first post and read from there!

It will be told through audience participation as much as possible, see please vote on polls, reblog and comment on posts, and send in asks! Through this, you can shape the story to your ideas! I know it can be scary to participate in things like this, but trust me, we will do our absolute best to make sure whatever you send in is used and we love seeing stuff from you!

The only rules for submission/interactions are:

No hate speech or cruelty of any sort

No NSFW as of the moment (the characters and the mod are minors so it's just kinda weird)

Make sure to specifically state if something you say is OOC (for lack of a better word), or it will not be taken as such

This should hopefully be obvious but, no soliciting or promotion on here? That's not what this is for lol

And that should cover all the bases for rules!

The blog will hopefully update quite a bit, but keep in mind I am still in school and have a life outside of tumblr (shocking, i know /sar)

Last but not least, DO NOT INTERACT IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR IDEAS AND INTERACTIONS BEING PART OF THE BOOK. I can't guarentee that it will ever be published, but I WILL be turning this into a full length story when it is over (date not set, it ends when it ends). I will do my best to credit everyone, but it's obviously very hard when this is being run through tumblr of all places, so keep this in mind when you interact.

hi there big fan. id say first time writer but i think this is my second ask ive sent you actually. i was meaning to ask how you wind up participating in so many zines! it seems like every time i catch one taking applications it's something i'm just not a fit for, and the ones that i WOULD fit right in with always manage to pass me by. is it just a matter of knowing people? tracking certain tags? luck? genuinely asking because i'd love to take part in something like that and i always see you in so many! ok thats my ask. thanks for writing sooo good i love to read it. sparkle on

Hey Musashi, thanks for the ask, nice to see you in my ask box again.

Anyways, getting into zines! Well, for Ace Attorney getting my start was luck, I didn't even know what a zine was until a new friend told me and some others in our private server that they were in an AA zine and pre-orders had just opened, and so I rushed to support them. I won't ramble your ear off with the whole damn story, but eventually I found the @ aafancalendar which reblogs pretty much every AA event that could be going on. Not every fandom has it's own dedicated calender, but that one is fantastic!

In terms of getting into zines? Most zines have a blind submission process, so I am pleased to say I got into them via skill. But in terms of knowing ppl? That usually helps for running a zine.

Running a zine is a lot of work, but mods also get to be in their own zine, it's kind of a mod privileges thing. So that can be a place where knowing ppl helps, bc if you've shown you're a great mod, they might ask for your help on future projects. But there are still lots of opportunities to get into modding (many zines invite intern mods to learn the ropes!), and you can always just be head mod yourself too, (that's another story for another time). I’m also just autistic af and cold called ppl in the fandom who I admired and wanted to work with and who had worked on other zines. Your mileage may vary, but there’s no harm in asking, just make sure you’re fine taking no for an answer.

That's about how I got into half the zines I'm in, is I'm helping run them. But part of it is just persistence and not counting yourself out before you even apply. I want to get traditionally published too, so been trying the magazine scene, so I already had 1 years worth of magazine rejections under my belt, but even still, it does still hurt to get rejected even from zines, but you have to be persistent. I think I'm at a 50/50 acception to rejection rate when it comes to getting into zines. Sometimes, even if you're skilled, your prose style or whatever just doesn't vibe with the zine mods and that's not a reflection of your skill.

The short of it: put your best works forward and apply to everything you’re interested in.

I'll also leave you with some more resources. So in terms of finding zines from other fandoms, the best resource I've found is @ ZineTown on Twitter. (I know we might not like Twitter, but they're incredibly professional, active and a huge community, extremely worth following.) I'd also suggest joining their Discord channel, bc it is not only great to find zines to contribute to, a ton of mods there also post looking for mods to help out and you can choose to get pinged for specific fandoms, or specific mod roles.

Also if you're into Genshin Impact at all, just from casual observation, they have a bonker yonkers amount of zines, so good time to be a Genshin zine fan.

tl;dr: Follow aafancalendar and ZineTown, apply for literally everything. Make sure to have a private friends server to build you back up after rejections (they will happen, sometimes zines have to reject even highly skilled ppl just for numbers reasons). Crying is allowed and encouraged, make sure to have snacks for either celebration or comfort after rejection.

THIRTEEN: An Unofficial Fanzine - One Last Trip

Hello again!

We are SO excited to release our timeline for applications and the official guidelines! You can view our guidelines by clicking here, or by reading under the cut.

Quick summary: submissions open Oct. 31st and close right after the New Years special (we hope!)

Full details:

On October 31st, 2021, submissions will OPEN!

Applications are done through Google Forms, and communication with the mod team and with other participants will be through Discord. You are not required to join Discord, but providing us with an email is required.

All applicants will be asked to submit a portfolio of multiple works. This can be a Google Drive folder, a link to a Tumblr dedicated to art, a link to an AO3 page, or any other form you would like. We are asking for at least 3 pieces, but from there you can submit as many as you want. These do not have to be public pieces - you are free to link us to Word or Google documents that are not published.

Very important: when you send us your portfolio, it must include something Doctor Who related. In previous years we have received many more applicants than we could accept, some of whom wrote amazing prose or created beautiful art but didn’t have any Doctor Who related examples. Sadly, due to the amount of applicants we get, we will have to automatically reject anyone who doesn’t submit Doctor Who related material this time around.

On January 2nd, 2022, submissions will CLOSE

Yes, that is a very long submission window! Usually, we try to line up the fanzine to happen right after a series has ended, and only keep submissions open for a couple of weeks. This time around, we wanted to get started early since the BBC is being so quiet about a premiere, and aim to start making the fanzine right after what will hopefully be a New Years special.

Your submission must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on the 2nd.

The editors will then take a week to go through all of your wonderful applications, and responses will go out one week later on January 9th. You will receive an email response whether you are accepted or not.

In your acceptance email, you will receive a link to a Discord server where most of our discussion will take place, and we will begin working on the zine!

What will you be creating?

Accepted artists will create an original, exclusive piece within two months of acceptance (exact date will be released in the future). You will not have to get mod approval for your idea, but we will of course be here to provide feedback or assistance as needed.

Accepted writers will create an original, exclusive fic around 2500 words, absolute maximum of 3000, within two months of acceptance (exact date will be released in the future). You will not need to get mod approval for your idea, but your final fic will be copy edited.

You are more than welcome to apply to be both an artist and a writer! But due to space, you will only be accepted as one of them. If you do apply for both, the editors will make the choice as to whether you will be accepted as a writer or an artist, and will let you know accordingly.

Once you are accepted, other details and guidelines:

Final pieces must feature the 13th Doctor. Feel free to ship her with any other character, or depict her with any past companion, Master, or other Doctor, but she must be the focus.

Please make sure that the piece you submit has never been posted anywhere else. After the fanzine is no longer on sale, you will of course be free to do with your piece whatever you would like!

Keep things at a T or lower rating. Basically, whatever would be acceptable on the show is acceptable for the zine. That means nothing explicitly sexual, no extreme gore or violence, no nudity. And, though this should go without saying, nothing illegal, so no depictions of incest, non-con, beastiality, etc.

All applicants will also have the option to apply to design the cover - including writers! Along with your portfolio of art, you will be asked if you would like to be considered to design the cover or not. This will not affect whether or not you get in, just whether we consider you for the cover art. It is a more involved project, and will require a front cover, back cover, and two inside covers (though the insides can be very simple).

You would design the cover instead of a piece of art for the inside of the zine. You will have to get mod approval, while regular art does not need mod approval.

All participants will receive a free e-copy of the zine, and the option to purchase a heavily discounted physical version. The artist selected to design the cover will receive a free physical version as well.

Just a few simple rules & guidelines for this challenge :

- Both fics and art are welcome for this challenge. There is no minimum or maximum word count, and all forms of art (moodboard, drawing, fan video etc.) are welcome.

- This is a prompt-based challenge. Every prompt you’ll receive consists of three different things; a fanfic trope, a word you need to use in your work, and an emotion. To receive a prompt, you can send me a message here on Tumblr, or if you don’t have a Tumblr account you can send me an anon ask with your email (which I will not publish) and I will email you a prompt.

- There are 15 different tropes, words and emotions. When you ask for a prompt, I will roll a virtual dice three times to see which prompt, word and emotion will make up your final prompt.

- You can interpret the trope and emotion any way you like! Just make sure they are in your work in some way, shape or form. The word needs to be in there, but if your word is for example ‘rose’, feel free to use it as ‘roses’ or ‘rosy’ etc.

Haha, I had not reblogged the "folders" ask meme this go-round... but thank you nevertheless, I'm game. Though, if its okay, I'm going to summarize three of the headcanons from some of my longer and older posts that I think many followers have not yet seen.

1. All machinery can communicate to other machinery in its own way. The degree to which they can speak humans' language depends on their bond with humans in general. The Sodor engines are so acculturated to humans that they have largely lost the art of this silent communication among their own, but most engines would retain it. It adds to the creepy factor of early dieselisation for them. Darling idiots forgot that this sort of meaningful low hum was a Thing.

Also, fun fact about talking to steam engines in particular: They are pretty literal and blunt. If you ask them a question, you better be prepared to hear an honest answer! (This is basically canon, according to Awdry, who spoke of diesels being uncommunicative but steam engines being extroverted and spending most of their time complaining of how they're mistreated.)

2. The mass-production of poorly-socialised 08s flooding the shunting yards of the country led to a lot of steam/diesel tension. There was bad behavior on both sides, but with the result that quite a few 08s learned some very Machiavellian payback. We're talking they would absolutely connive to get particular steam engines that they hated picked for the next round of scrapping (in more genteel language, to get them "sent away").

When Duck and the Diesel Engine published one of the signature 08 moves for all the world to see, it sparked an outbreak of aggressions between steam and diesel engines. The summer of '57 is often referred to as a "civil war." This might be slightly overdramatic, but there were several casualties, engine and human.

British Railways came down hard to stamp down the unrest into a general dull resignation and resentment on both sides—but especially on the steam side.

Our main line diesel characters, like BoCo and Bear, were built only after the "civil war." (Daisy, bless her, was mostly oblivious.)

3. I imagine Tornado to have been visiting Sodor annually since 2015. She is not haughty by nature, but she is hot-blooded and impulsive. After some initial hazing (Tornado was so. furious!), Tornado found that the rougher-and-readier atmosphere on the N.W.R. was a really great outlet for her more fiery side. She is now very well-liked there. After showing him up, she has forgiven but not forgotten James's initial hazing; they are now playful frenemies. She has not forgiven Donald and Douglas... mainly because she did not, in fact, manage to show them up.

As the "heritage steam" movement, erm (sorry) gathered steam, so did a new custom among the engines, who more and more often were able to maintain long-distance friendships.

Sending someone a toy model of yourself became a sort of calling card/token of great affection. City of Truro was one of the earliest adoptees, sending one to Duck in the 60s and also asking whenever was the Fat Controller going to get on making arrangements for Sodor merchandise?

Duck and Stepney also popularised this trend, showing off each other's models to visitors and proudly saying that the other had sent it themselves. Lots of engines overheard and were inspired to follow suit.

As you might imagine, Thomas soon acquired the most prolific collection of this sort of high-end engine postcard. There is no longer much room on his wall of Ffarquhar sheds for tools due to increasing need for display cases! He maintains a prolific "correspondence" with friends home and abroad in this way.

Gordon sent a model of an A1 painted in N.W.R. livery (this was before the Sodor engines had their own models) and then modded up with a cowcatcher and other American accouterments, sending it to Scotsman when he was touring the U.S. Then he wondered if he had been very silly. Scotsman was rather busy being bankrupt for a while, but much later he sent back a Scotsman model, two tenders and all, also in N.W.R. blue... and missing its dome.

Etc. Apart from the dome thing, lots these exchanges are of themselves customised in the other's livery. There are lots of variations on this trend, though. It's all pretty cute.

This, incidentally, is why there were so many "one-off" characters in the HiT era. Yes, it was just for the toys, but that was often the motive for the engines to get themselves written into the show! The characterisation was usually way off, but these are all real Sodor engines—among the "nameless 80" that had not wanted to participate in the RWS/TTTE before, due to shyness or privacy or other reasons. But by circa 2000 they became increasingly eager to have their own models made so that they could also send these sort of gifts to their friends, and by far the easiest way for that to happen was to go through HiT/Mattel!

Summer Memory Weekend

October 8-10, 2021 A Hurricane Touchdown/Willis/Wallace Appreciation Event

Greetings, all! We are GO for an event celebrating the third Digimon movie, Hurricane Touchdown/Supreme Evolution! The Golden Digimentals!!, as well as its breakout Chosen Child Wallace (aka Willis, if you're familiar with the English dub). This is going to be a three-day event spanning Friday (October 8) to Sunday (October 10). Its goal is to celebrate all aspects of Hurricane Touchdown (including the third part of Digimon: the Movie) and all of Wallace and his digimon partners’ appearances across Digimon Adventure media (including Door Into Summer and their cameos in Kizuna!).

Because this event is juggling two similar-yet-different themes, the prompts listed are Choose-Your-Own, and open to any interpretation you'd like. And if the provided prompts don't inspire you, feel free to create your own! Ultimately, the goal is to get more content for this often-unappreciated, sometimes-maligned movie and character out into the world, be it fanfic, fanart, playlists, headcanons, AUs, meta, graphics, moodboards, or anything else you can think of! If the dates don't work for you but you would still like to participate, don't worry! Q. So what is the focus for this event?

A. Any aspect of the Adventure franchise that relates to either Hurricane Touchdown (and/or the last third of Digimon: The Movie) or Wallace(/Willis). Q. What if I don’t like the movie, but like Wallace (or vice versa)?

It’s ok if you don’t LOVE either of them, but since this is meant to be a celebration event, please refrain from tagging posts engaging in excessive criticism or “bashing” towards a character/piece of media (even if if it’s not one of the characters/pieces of media being celebrated!) as part of this event. AUs and reinterpretations of canon events are ABSOLUTELY allowed (and would be excellent uses of the “alternate” prompt!), but posts that are overly negative will not be reblogged.

Q. If I'm participating, do I have to create something for all three days?

A. Nope! One, two, or three days, any number is fine. The goal is to just create and have fun, no matter what that looks like to you!

Q. Can I repurpose old published fic/art/headcanons as part of this event?

A. If you really don’t have the time or desire to create something new and the original work is your own, then sure (just remember: late entries are fine!).

Q. What does "Choose Your Own" mean in regard to prompts?

A. It means there are no set prompts for each day, and you get to choose which prompts to fulfill, in any order! When reblogged, posts will be tagged with the prompt name, so please indicate in your post(s) which prompt you are fulfilling!

Q. Can I only use "Free Choice" as a prompt once, or can I use it multiple times?

We are going to utilize this time to try and clear out our inbox--we have over 100 messages, most of them asking for rec lists, which take a few weeks at a time to properly curate, tag, and put in the queue.

We will also be working behind the scenes on other projects we hope to show off soon!

Below the cut are our rules, guidelines, and FAQ for recommending or suggesting games as well as general practice and etiquette.

Now, to get into some of the details. (This applies regardless of the event to every ask sent, even if the inbox is currently closed.)

RULES WHEN SENDING ASKS

If you can and it is relevant, please tag your asks with content warnings in the beginning. Such as (cw violence) or (cw death), this is an extra precaution to keep both our mods and our readers safe and well-advised. This will also make tagging easier!

Please keep your asks as brief as you can! Any asks that are more than two asks long may get eaten by the Tumblr machine and/or may not be answered due to length.

If your ask hasn't been answered, it may be because it already has been! Be sure to search the tags and FAQ before sending in an ask.

Please don't spam! We won't respond to inappropriate asks or asks that have already been answered.

Recommendation lists

If you are submitting an ask for a rec list please be aware that these lists take a lot of time and effort to make! In average, it might take us up to two weeks to fully finish and queue a rec list, sometimes even longer. We’re happy to put them together but we ask for patience and understanding.

With that in mind, here are some guidelines:

Please look through the #interact-if asks and #if: rec list tags before sending and ask.

Constantly looking out and keeping track of IF projects takes a good chunk of our time among our other responsibilities as mods. For this reason, we came up with a tagging system that makes it easy for our audience to look through the blog. Unfortunately, it gets overlooked most of the time.

And for this reason, we get repetitive asks, which we ignore and delete.

The tagging system is there for your and our convenience. If you’re not sure whether you’re asking for a rec list of the same theme/genre that has already been posted, please consider looking through the aforementioned tags before sending an ask.

As much as we love entertaining the rec list asks, it does tend to be bothersome having to constantly reblog and link new asks to the posted rec lists, as well as reminding people to use the tagging system.

Please make your ask neither too broad nor specific.

This isn’t to sound finicky we promise! If an ask is looking for fantasy IFs without specifics we cannot properly curate a list of what you’re looking for. Is it modern fantasy? Medieval? Non-Eurocentric? Do you want fae fantasy? Supernatural? Fantasy is one of the most popular genres and asks like this example we cannot properly answer.

This is why we ask for rec list requests to be not too broad.

As for narrow–too narrow an ask will likely return a very short or non-existent list! At the end of the day there are only so many IFs and very specific niches may not be filled. We will try our best to answer, but likely your list will result in games adjacent to your request that we think best kind of sort of fit your request. We’re doing our best with the IFs that are out there.

Please be patient!

We often spend several days working on a single list. If your ask hasn’t been answered yet it may still be in the works or in our queue! If it’s been a long while and it still has not been answered, it may have been ignored for a variety of reasons including: Too broad an ask, too similar to previous rec lists, contains NSFW or offensive materials, etc. Please refrain from sending multiple check up asks

On the topic of NSFW asks/content…

We have received some inquiries regarding NSFW (like smutty scenes) recommendations in IF recently, and believe it best to clarify the stance Interact IF has on the matter.

We will be refraining from answering questions about explicit sexual content in IF. We as a team do not feel we have the expertise to help with this, nor have we been on the lookout for explicitly sexual IFs.

As well, it is not entirely suitable for the blog, as Interact IF is for all ages and there may be minors following it.

We would like this blog to remain as SFW as we can manage, with games properly tagged for their age groups and limiting asks and rec lists to non-sexually-explicit content.

Game Recommendations

Before sending in a game, please keep these aspects in mind:

DO

The game must be interactive fiction–the reader plays a character (either customizable or pre-determined) and makes choices that influence the game in some way.

The game can be text-based or a visual novel.

The game does NOT violate copyright (i.e. A published for-profit IF that is using the Star Wars universe. If it is not-for-profit (it’s free to play) then this is fine)

DON’T

If you play a character and can physically move them (walk, run, jump, attack), we consider this a video game and isn’t currently a niche we are supporting.

Recommend a game produced by a company–we are here to support individual authors or games written collaboratively by a group of authors/artists/etc.

Don’t recommend games that glorify violence, sexual violence, racism, sexism, and so on. Or which has (an) author(s) who also have a history of having engaged In aspects like these.

If your rec is good to go, here’s what you have to do! If you are able please provide a link to the post to reblog - this makes it a lot easier on us!If the game is 18+What language/program the game is in (Twine, Choicescript, Ren'py, etc.)If the game has a currently playable demo. Can you recommend games that are finished or complete?

We have a tag for that! Check out #status: complete, though you can also check out COG, Hosted Games, and search for complete games on Itch.io.

I can’t find a game and can’t remember the title, help!

If you’re struggling to find a beloved game and can’t remember the title–go to our Reddit and see if it’s there at the Lost & Found! If not, you can ask our community on the Reddit to help find it, or join our discord and ask there!

I noticed you failed to include x game on a list, so I will inform the author about it.

Please, don’t. The mods here are nothing but human, so we do our best to include as many games as we can remember, and frequently ask other people for help. However, this doesn’t mean we will include every single game in existence. We will forget, things will slip, so the least we ask of you is to leave a reply or send an ask and we will add it in. We promise we always keep a close eye on those.

The extra step of informing the author about this is unnecessary. The only thing you’re causing is either making the author feel left out or having them reach out to us to be added, which is essentially the same thing we ask of you to do. There’s no need to get a third party involved within something that can be easily tackled, so please respect us instead of putting our blog in a bad light.

The only suggestions we ignore and might erase are the ones we realize don’t fit the theme of the ask, or ones that don’t fit the guidelines specified in the question right below this.

What we do not promote.

Trans-exclusive radical feminism

Gratuitous sexual violence (This includes pedophilia, domestic abuse, r*pe, etc.)

Racism, including cultural appropriation, stereotyping, whitewashing, brown face, etc.

Any and all versions of sexism

Religious phobic rhetoric (Islamophobia, belittling indigenous religions, etc.)

And so on.

We also do not promote authors who have aligned themselves with these rhetorics, whether or not they are exhibited in the author's playable content.
