#will smith slapping the shit out of chris rock on live tv
Am I the only white person that's hearing about the Chris Rock thing and thinking that guy is a being a whiny child about this?
You make fun of someone in front of all of their peers and in live TV, you're playing a game of fuck around and find out. Period. I don't give a shit if it's wittle-baby-ego was bwuised. You made your bed. You fucking lie in it. He's lucky it was only an open palm slap.
Not just that, but Chris Rock's jokes are the reason why white people think it's okay to make racist jokes about Black people. You make jokes about Black people being slaves and getting whooped by their master, that shit's not funny. It's just gross.
Anyways, that's my two cents. Because I'm so sick of all of the other white people talking about how Chris Rock "really got him back" or whatever.
If your ego is still so bruised you gotta open up an entire section in your comedy special to "get him back" then maybe Will Smith is still winning, because that slap is still living in your mind rent free. I guarantee you everyone else forgot about it until you brought it up again.

The Oscars Are Mobilizing a Crisis Team This year's Oscars are fast approaching and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences seems to still be stinging from Will Smith's infamous Chris Rock slap. To prevent that from happening again, they've mobilized a crisis team in anticipation of any unforeseen interruptions. In a new interview with Time, Academy CEO Bill Kramer opened up about the lengths the organization is going to ensure that this year's ceremony goes smoothly. In addition to inviting Jimmy Kimmel back to host the awards show and recent news that Rihanna will follow up her Super Bowl Halftime show with a performance of her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever song "Lift Me Up," Kramer revealed that the Academy is looking to mitigate the unpredictable nature of live TV with a dedicated team that will work behind-the-scenes during the event.“[We] have a whole crisis team, something we’ve never had before, and many plans in place,” Kramer, who was appointed CEO last summer, explained. “We’ve run many scenarios. So it is our hope that we will be prepared for anything that we may not anticipate right now but that we’re planning for just in case it does happen.”Kramer went on to pretty much confirm that they were specifically motivated to form the crisis team because of last year's slap. And for anyone armed with Twitter fingers, they will have a dedicated communications team that will try to get out in front of any media controversy with quick statements. Kramer even point out the fact they were able to put out a formal response about For Your Consideration campaign regulations just six days after the Andrea Riseborough's contentious nomination.Naturally, the Lydia Tár jokes write themselves. And after Ariana DeBose's recent BAFTA rap fiasco, we can only imagine that the Oscars' crisis team is at full DefCon 1 ahead of Sunday's show. On the other hand, many were quick to point out the hypocritical double standard being set by the Academy putting a full crisis team together in response to Will Smith's slap while having historic problems with race, equal representation and platforming known abusers for years now.The Academy's Board of Governors decided to ban Will Smith for a 10 year period following the incident and apologized at the time for their failure to address it in a timely manner. “During our telecast, we did not adequately address the situation in the room. For this, we are sorry,” Academy president David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson said at the time. “This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers and our Academy family around the world, and we fell short—unprepared for the unprecedented.” Smith has since apologized for the slap, calling his actions "not indicative of the man I want to be” and resigned from his position in the Academy. On the other hand, Chris Rock has incorporated the slap into his own stand-up routines and reportedly said "fuck your hostage video" in reference to Smith's apology. “Oscars Crisis Team pullin up to the next incident
https://t.co/T1IqHpQqOQ” — philip 🇹🇼 (@philip 🇹🇼) 1677106832 “excuse me where was the crisis team when this shit went down” — Lee Jameson 🪩 (@Lee Jameson 🪩) 1677115180 “The crisis team” — Meech (@Meech) 1677106839 “I want to write a movie about the Oscar Crisis Team, then have it win an Oscar, and while accepting the Oscar cause some kind of crisis the Crisis Team has to stop” — Jessica Ellis (@Jessica Ellis) 1677130660 “@Variety ‘The Crisis Team’ leader in question:” — Variety (@Variety) 1677103420 “Crisis Team on Oscar Night:” — LARS VON QUEER’S MAGICAL MYSTERY THRILLER (@LARS VON QUEER’S MAGICAL MYSTERY THRILLER) 1677125755 “Ah, the Academy's response to Andrea Riseborough's surprise Oscar nomination makes a lot more sense now. Honestly, Chris Rock seemed to take it like a champ "Will Smith just slapped the shit out of me!" And isn't pressing charges. This is because Chris Rock understands "Talk shit get hit"
The people upset on Chris Rock's behalf are, and I don't mean to generalize, have done a lot of talking shit without getting hit. They thought they were immune to talking shit and getting hit and suddenly they see beloved actor Will Smith slap Chris Rock on live TV and realize one day they'll talk too much shit and get hit finally.

Look, I’m not black but I agree with the last anon but as a disabled person. I understand where people are coming from, but if Chris’ joke had been about Jada’s weight or gender or sexuality or race or literally anything else, everyone would be cheering Will on and canceling Chris.
The disabled community has been the butt of jokes in Hollywood since forever, and I’m genuinely crushed that Pedro and others think that Will slapping Chris for making an ableist joke on live tv and putting his wife in an extremely uncomfortable position for a disease she has no control over is worse than Chris making an actual ableist and racist joke genuinely infuriates me. And these people are one to talk. They’re all “oh we don’t condone violence” unless it’s something extreme like punching nazis. Okay. Then slap ableists.
Also, Pedro is seriously showing his hypocrisy by liking those tweets and I’m side eyeing him for it. And anyone who doesn’t understand why it’s hypocritical. The man needs to take a step back and look at his own actions before condoning someone else’s. I think both men handled it wrong, but to demonize Will for supporting his wife was admirable to me. If he hadn’t, most likely people would’ve torn Jada apart for “not taking a joke” and making fun of her reaction and holding her past actions and mistakes against her and Will really took one for the team for her. Jada wanted a night out after shaving her head for her disease to look beautiful despite being insecure and Chris ruined that for her. The least he could have done was ask her if it was okay to make that joke before presenting. That respect needs to be held for any joke regarding someone’s personal image and their chronic illnesses.
Sorry for the rant, it’s just been very upsetting seeing how far people will go to defend an ableist joke that nationally embarrassed someone rather than focus on holding Chris accountable for thinking it was okay to make that joke. I’m sick of being the butt of jokes, and fuck anyone for saying they’re being too sensitive when something is clearly personal to someone. Her disease has lead to people committing suicide. Let’s not let people like Chris push Jada or anyone into that fragile headspace over “just a joke.”
It’s not just that, this isn’t the first time Chris has made shitty jokes about Jada. In 2016 he did the same shit at the Oscars.
I will say it again, I loved seeing it. I loved seeing a man defend his wife. Chris Rock deserved to be slapped for being an asshole.
It’s so weird that so many men think Will Smith is the wrong for this but most women love that Will stood up for Jada. Talk about divide.

Was it really worth it?
Tumblr media
Dear Tumblr Diary
Was it really worth it? I have to say that yes! I know everyone and their mothers are talking about the slap that was seen around the world. Being that I’m more of a will smith fan. Than I am of Jada pinker and or Chris Rock. I have to say this to me, was seen a long time ago. Not Will Smith going up on stage SLAPPING the living shit out of Chris Rock. But! Will Smith standing up for himself as a person. I say person rather than man. Because in my eye’s your gender, sex (Identity) in that aspect has nothing to do with standing your ground and demanding your respect. Over the years I have seen how many people, celebrities or those who frequent them. Try and emasculate him, provoke him or taunt in one way or another. I’m not a person who’s big on pop culture or whats in the happening now. As an outlier, when things are big. Big enough to catch my attention. I give it!
Over the years, This red table from his wife, daughter and mother in law has come up. And other aspects of there lives have come into the public eye. Which in a patriarchal society, has made will smith seem like too much of a passive guy. "Seem" being the operative word here! I’ve always liked will smith because of his down to earth humor and relatability. I too, am his completion. And goofy like him too. I guess like most fans I have attached aspects of my identity to him and his success. I think thats why most people go really hard for there Idol. Or a celebrity that makes them feel.
I too know the ways of suffering in silence. I know how it feels to bite your tongue. And keep a pretty smilie face on for optics. It has to be hard for him in ways that we could and or only imagine. I do not have children and nor am I married to a woman who’s free to spill the beans about our personal matters. Now! Small disclaimer! (I don’t know shit about there personal lives) He for all intensive purposes can be just as guilty as her with having entanglements. BUt! The reason for this post is to share why I agree wit this, "SLAPPING" of the rock. The Chris rock, you see from other sources and even from both of their statements on social media they have Identified each other as friends. But! Would a friend constantly poke fun of you. Especially with a room full of people he could have chosen to poke fun at.
Almost every time I have seen Will smith in the media before this incident, It was deeply heart felt. When listing to him, either podcasters talk about him or when on YouTube videos of his being shown. It seemed to me there was always more behind that mans eyes. I believe, he felt that he could not choose wisely. I may be wrong. Fuck I am wrong because with everyone getting a divorce. He could HAVE left her! Or her leave him!? But they choose to stay together.
Was the joke a really bad joke no! But! When sources on TV and other social media outlets confirm that Jada has a medical condition. It makes it all the worse. Will smith on hot97 and other platforms is always in someone’s mouth. And who knows what was said between the couple about her condition. NOt!!!!! to mention as a gay man! My hair is everything to me. I like how it’s an extension of myself expression and Identity. So I can totally see this being that for any women. Especially a celebrity. I share in her pain in knowing that something thats out of her control is happening to her body. How she has to change her thoughts. Not to mention, her self perception is going to be a real eye opener for her.
She has brought up time before that she & Tupac have been in love. She to me has not gotten over that. Has not moved on or even properly grieved his death. I again can relate to wanting to love someone and it being snatched from you. Taken with out notice. Only to deal with the remains. It’s nothing you can do but! Deal!
Maybe these scenarios, are what we’re running in the thoughts of Will Smith. How he’s always shrugging things off. Letting things go. Being passive about the amount of disrespect that thrown him. There’s always the straw that breaks the camel’s back. And talking about backs. The way the internet has show support! I have to say is funny, But! Fucked up. I myself had to take a MOMENT and realize I too play in to his man’s mental help.
This persons feelings are being disregarded! When people are constantly checking him about how he should behave and not how it’s ok to be. To just be. He’s a mentor, father, probably someone’s brother or cousin. He’s a husband. All titles, many people on this planet can relate to. Was rock wrong? I’m still indifferent about it because the statement says He did not know. And being that they are celebrities. He has his brand to run. And they have their own to run as well. As the women around always say “ MInd the business that pays you” and well, In Chris rocks case, It didn’t pay that well on stage. But!!!!! I have to say that he did handle that very well. Even when Will smith kept it going from his seat! He kept his composure.
I’m from the hood. So! For me one smack ain’t gonna kill no body. It night get you knocked out. But, It ain’t gonna kill no one. I

People have their perspective on why Chris Rock didn't have Will Smith arrested for assault even though it was live TV, they were acting etc...
In my opinion, there was no legal action taken because...
1. I think in a real life fight Will Smith would beat the shit out of Chris Rock and Chris knows it especially if he retaliated.
2. It was a black person slapping a black person. You just know that if it was a white person that white person would get 10 years without parole.
Now if was a white cop, you know that cop would spend 25 to life without parole because you know that's our society.

hey! kinda fucked up to make jokes abt a black woman experiencing blatant misogynoir on live television! just letting you know that you as a nonblack person (bc no way in hell youre black and posting that kind of shit) you definitely should not be making jokes abt oppression you dont experience and you should reconsider keeping the post up
oh hey ty for talking to me about this. you mean the reblog of phoenix and miles watching tv, right? lemme know if i missed something.
i'm not making jokes about jada smith being the target of misogynoir (at the fucking oscars of all places) at all; i am glad her husband got up on stage and defended her. it was a stupid, shitty, cruel joke for chris rock to make and he deserved that slap. i wish that slap had knocked enough sense into him to apologize instead off doing a little "uhh lmao that was awkward" moment. if i do make or reblog jokes about last night's event, they're very much meant to mock and call out chris rock for his behavior and the bizarre kind of racism that has everyone going "WOW so awful and toxic for a black man to raise a hand to defend his wife and her health."
i hope i'm as strong and loving as will smith is if/when i might need to defend my own loved ones like that someday. but anyway, if you really think that post was inappropriate, i'll take it down!

I don’t think Will Smith should’ve slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars. Before anyone gets mad, no I’m not defending his joke. It was offensive and inappropriate and he shouldn’t have made it.
That being said, imagine being Jada sitting in the audience. You’ve been made fun of on TV and instead of trying to comfort you, your husband runs up there and makes a scene on live television in front of everyone you work with and for in the audience. Now, instead of it being something addressed in private like adults, it’s the biggest thing on the internet right now. It took away her right to choose how she responded to the situation and further drew unwanted attention to her. If he really wanted to tell him it’s offensive, Will could’ve gone up to him after the show, told him it was inappropriate, upset his wife, and told him to apologize. Or, hell, he could’ve slapped the shit out of him after it was over or backstage!
I’m not Jada, but personally I would’ve been embarrassed, even if he had good intentions.
I understand the idea that Chris deserved it because it was an offensive joke, but in the end, it should’ve been up to Jada how to deal with it.

Not that my take matters, but I can’t sleep so imma give it. I don’t usually condone violence, but I were in the same situation as Will Smith, I would probably do the same thing (especially if Chris Rock has a past for making these types of jokes about Jada). Maybe not on live tv, but in a private setting. I also don’t really get why people are getting so dramatic over this situation and comparing Will to a pedo/rapist. That logic just doesn’t make sense at all. And lastly, I don’t think this situation is worthy enough to take his award away.
Exactly. Will overreacted and it happened too publicly but like dude this can’t have been the first time Chris got smacked for making a joke that didn’t land lmao. He’s an almost 60 year old man who’s been doing this basically since he was a kid. He knows will interpersonally. It’s awkward and dramatic and embarrassing and shit all round and it was a crappy “defense” of Jada but it’s not the drama some people have made out.
Polanski is legit a drama right he’s a pedophile and he raped a kid.
Will Smith - maybe drunkenly - slapped a man over a joke about his wife that didn’t land.

Best thing about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on TV and then winning the Oscar.... nobody in the damn room knew he was going to win the Oscar. NOBODY. The envelopes are sealed and until they’re opened on stage, nobody in the room knows who is going to get the Oscar. They established this way of doing that because way back in the early years newspapers used to get the results like a day or so ahead of the ceremony and they’d just print em. Made The Academy go ‘Yo, what the hell guys?!’ and so they made the choice to make the media wait to find out just like the rest of us (including the nominees and literally everyone sitting in the theater), so like... you can argue day and night about if that hit was planned or not, but either way literally nobody not even Will Smith knew he was going to get that Oscar and make that speech after literally hitting a dude in the face not 20 minutes prior. You can’t make this shit up... and if SNL doesn’t make fun of that wild shit at the ceremony, I don’t want to live on this planet.

THE SMACK HEARD AROUND THE WORLD
Will Smith just smacked the shit out of Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife during the Oscar Awards. Chris Rock compared Jada (Will’s Wife) to G.I. Jane because of her shaved head. Turns out Jada actually has a shaved head because he has a condition called alopecia which causes baldness. After the Joke was said, seconds later Smith walked calmly up to the stage and smacked Rock across the face, then preceded back to his seat. He then sat down and yelled at Rock to, “KEEP MY WIFE’S NAME OUT YOU’RE FUCKEN MOUTH.” Chris Rock played the whole thing off with a smile like a pro, but you could tell the comedian was in full disbelief.
The crazy thing to me is that Smith was laughing at the joke until he realized his wife did not find it amusing. This then set him off to the point he slapped Rock. This clearly shows me one thing for sure. That Jada does not deserve Will 😂😂. All she does is cheat and lie on the poor man, while he’s out here slapping people on LIVE TV for her. The crazy thing about the situation is that Smith actually one an Oscar about an hour later for Best Actor of the Year. WHAT A LEGEND. Man slapped another grown man on the biggest stage, then preceded to win an Oscar right after. August Alsina better watch out, cause Will is on demon time right now 🥊🤣Full video of the incident will be 👇
