uhh hi i'm hunter! for practical purposes we can call it a kin for reach (but i am an irl, i'm a splitroject)

Can I just say that I love THIS?

As a chubby person who struggles with finding romantic relationships, it makes me so happy to see modern kids cartoons with chubby characters getting into relationships and seeing thin characters have a crush on them! It may be silly, but when I think about these, it gives me more hope that maybe one day, someone will fall in love with me, and they won’t care how my body looks, they’ll just want me, for me. 💕

Sweetjane parked her vardo next to the river for the time being. Seemingly alone, the area she was in was quiet and the temperature was very hot. Sweetjane unbuttoned her dress to her waist, and gazed up and down the river not seeing a soul in sight. She kicked off her boots and wandered into knee deep water, her skirt clinging to her calves. She sat down in the water, elbows to her knees, and every so often scooping some off to cool her neck. She decided to just deal with the inevitable sunburn later. 

The woman came out of nowhere. Sweetjane guessed that the other was around her age, with messy brown hair. She wore blue jeans and a long coat. She stood next to Sweetjane’s own coat folded on the bank.

As the two stared at each other, Sweetjane broke the silence with a “Hi ya.”

The woman said flatly, “This here’s private property.”

Sweetjane looked all around. “‘Tis? I don’t recollect seein any signs.”

“It’s private property.”

“Why hell,” She said, “this ‘ere’s a riva. I ain’t never heard of no riva bein private property.”

The woman picked up Sweetjane’s coat and slid her hand into a pocket. “This land where I’m standing is private property.”

Sweetjane stood up, years of living as Rroma had taught her that this could lead to trouble more for her than the other.  'Mashkar le gadjende leski shib si le Romeski zor.'* As the woman rifles through Sweetjane’s pockets, she makes the sha-roog gesture, passing a flat hand across her throat. Since her knives were in the vardo, she felt around the riverbed, pulled up a flat stone, and skimmed it across the water. The woman watched the stone, counting the skips.

A snake flickered along the bank and slid into the water.

“See that tree?” She said and pointed to an old willow leaning into the water near the other.

“I see it,” she said, sliding his hand into another of the pockets.

Sweetjane shakingly said, “See that knothole? Watch what I kin do ta a knothole.”

She felt around the riverbed and pulled up another flat, jagged rock. She had done this a million times since childhood. She pulled her arm back and tossed the rock straight at the tree; the jagged edge embedded itself in the knothole. The brown haired stranger stopped rummaging through her pockets and eyed just past her.

 Sweetjane cried out suddenly, “Oh!” and flailed at the water. She reached down, pulled up the snake, and gave a puzzled pained look. The snake slithered and wriggled, straining toward the water. 

“I think it’s done made a snack out of my leg.”  She stared hard at the other woman, like she had sent it to attack her.

Then the pain hit her a moment later and she stumbled. Quick as a blink, the other woman scooped her up and carried her out of the water. She beat her fist against her chest trying to get her to put her down. 

“Would you mind dropping that before it bites both of us?” she said to the thrashing albino, who was still clutching the snake. In the commotion, she didn’t know she was still holding the snake. She let the creature go, slithering off in the distance, unharmed in this ordeal.

She placed her on the riverbank, kneeling beside her. Sweetjane struggled slightly after seeing her reaching for a knife, gently placing a hand on her sternum to get her to still, the frightened birdlike fluttering of her heartbeat. 

"I'm not doing this to hurt you, I'm just trying to help", She tried telling her that the venom will spread the more she moved and got out her knife. The albino went rigid.

 As she made a slit in Sweetjane’s leg across the snake bite, blood trickled down her ankle. Still no movement as she stared up at the sky. She placed her mouth against a pale bloody leg. She sucked and spit, sucked and spit. Sweetjane’s eyelids fluttered. She weakly raised her hand, pointing to her Vardo nearby. Gently picking her up again,this time there was no fight from her, she took her to her camp, finding the door already open and laying her down on the bed at the end. She tore some curtain into a tourniquet, tying just under the knee and directly above the bite. After a quick search of the wagon, she packs the reddening wound with some leftover salve, cursing the fact that she had no proper medicines at the moment and there apparently were none in the wagon.

Sweetjane sat up, and dangles her legs over the side of the bed. The other woman catches her and places them back.

“Don’t do that. Leave them elevated for a few minutes.”

“You don’t have to stay,” Sweetjane said after a long while.

The other glanced around the cramped vardo before sitting at the table by the bed. “I know it.” She looked away and then quietly, “Cecelia.”

Sweetjane turned her head to look at her. ”Sweetjane. Were ya really goin ta rob me?”

Cecelia shrugs and then shakes her head. “Not after you saw me. It wasn’t really private property.”

“I didn’t think so.”

The sun was starting to set as the pair agreed to travel together for the time being as Sweetjane had never been this far west of the Mississippi.
