Happy [Incredibly late] Valentines Day !!! Decided to do a trio of illustrations as I’ve done in previous years of diff forms of love!! Its only 3 but heres the list:

Sundew & Willow -> Romantic Love [They’re a classic! First queer POV’s and impactful ones for me!! They’re sweet together <3]

Qibli & Ostrich -> Familial Love [they are Cousins to me!!! Adopted family who are very protective of each other]

Turtle & Peril -> Platonic Love [Their friendship is so nice to me!! I don’t ship them at all - the heart motif is just used to symbolize love!!!! Also Turtles scales are canonically “as strong as diamonds” so him & Peril can make physical contact without Turtle getting burnt lmao]

swapping willow with hazel in the queue cause it felt right to me. i was picturing her with light brown hair, so i guess leafwings can have green hair, brown hair, or a combination of both

Hazel. If you even care

They are freckled towards the top of her snout, back, feet, and wings. Hazel plants wrap by her ears and face. She wears round glasses. There are fins structures on her back that resemble leaves. There are four parts of the page:

1) A profile view of Hazel, smiling while looking forward.

2) Hazel laughing with her talons raised near her face, her wings spread out and back legs up as if she were falling over while sitting. 

3) Three bust sketches of three characters standing together: Luna the Silkwing who stands there smiling. She is a thin dragon with light green and purple scales. She has lighter green fur on her underside and antennae on her head that is the same color. Her eyes are completely black. Her wings are spread behind the other two. Hazel smiles and stands there looking back towards Willow the Leafwing who is next to her. Willow is a thin dragon with pale green and brown scales. The fin structures on her back look like willow leaves and some drape over her eyes. She has a slight smile. Next to them is the text “Luna, Hazel, and Willow bffs!”. 

4) A sketch of Turtle the Seawing and Hazel sitting at an uncolored table. Turtle is a chubbier dragon with dark green and blue scales. The fins on the top of his head droop to resemble hair. He has light blue glow marks scattered on his neck and face. Turtle looks unsure and says “I’m just so unsure what to do next with the story!” while Hazel looks supportive at him. Headcanons under the cut

No longer queen but probably a has some higher up/important position in creating the Leafsilk kingdom. 

She tends to let Willow and Luna take care of bigger diplomatic endeavors since she can gets stressed out by that (her first experience of that being meeting ALL the queens of Pyrrhia during such a high tense time did not set a good idea of it in her head for a long time)

Hazel craves to read stories from the rest of Pantala and Pyrrhia now that information can flow freely, shes got a looong to-do list of scrolls and books to read

Her and Turtle become good friends as well, he was one of the first dragons she met from pyrrhia as well their interests align interestingly to me. He writes and she helps edit, copy them down and bind the books! 

I didnt add it here but honestly her and Cricket would get along for similar reasons as well, ultimate bookclub friend group

FINALLY FINISHED. Wow this took me so long. I love SunLow. Probably one of the best canon couples that exist in Wings of Fire. I love their Romeo/Juliet story, cliche but a classic. They for sure spoil their adopted daughter Bumblebee. I would not be surprised if Hazel, when she becomes Queen, asks Sundew to be her head general/advisor. I like their frog story. Also, still figuring out how to draw all of Sundew's pouches, so that's why they don't exist.
