i think my one gripe with makoto is the fact that i wish people kinda got that he’s supposed to be annoying and dumb and kind of an ass and most especially boring lmao. he’s just some guy. that’s his character. imo i don’t think he needs to be super interesting. i’m not excusing his actions, because believe me he is an ass sometimes, but that’s the thing with EVERYONE in thh: they’re high schoolers. they’re dumb, they’re rude, they’re inconsiderate, they don’t know how to human, because they’re kids. makoto is a fine protagonist in my opinion. i’ve changed some of my opinions and i think makoto is fine. he’s not supposed to be extraordinary: literally. he is meant to be boring. i wish we got screen time away from him, and i’m not saying him being boring and annoying absolves him of his actions, but he is a kid at the end of the day.

•He’ll walk you to every class you have holding your hand and listening to every word you say jotting the information down in his brain for later

•He will always encourage you to wear any shoes you want to wear. No matter who stares when you two go by, those red stilettos look too good on you to be kept in a closet

•No matter where you two go however, there’s always people staring at you some being more creepy or perverted then others

•He’ll always stand up for you, even if he losses the fight. You’re his girlfriend he’d never let stuff like that fly. With that being said though he does feel guilty taking you out at times, he loves everyone to see him with his beautiful girlfriend but he knows how uncomfortable you can feel from creepy guys. •He’s a little shit disturber dating you. He has the golden goose the big shinny diamond everyone wants and he loves to rub it in their faces. He won and no matter how long he’ll dangle the carrot over their heads, they’d never catch it and oh how fun it is for him

•He’ll always make sure to announce when you two walk into a room. Laughing as hard as he can even though you didn’t even say a word to him, standing close to a group of students to then complement how beautiful you are dramatically or even just the classic deep and overly passionate kiss while his hand grabs your ass

•He LOVES how tall you are. He clings onto your legs and torso resembling a baby koala nuzzling his face into your body not wanting to let go. If your strong enough he would DIE if you gave him piggyback rides or to pick him up in general, just the touch of your hands makes the world go away

•You know that song from Steven Universe giant women? He loves randomly blurting our that song for you even in public and this man does not hold back on those notes

So I really like hanma and I was wondering if I can make this request. So say takemichi and his friends are hanging out and they bring mini michi (kid reader) but the thing is mini michi is trying to hard to keep up but unfortunately it’s starts to get crowded and he’s lost until he bumps into this tall man who at first is scared and is picked up by hanma who immediately figures out that he’s michi younger brother so he decides to take mini michi on a little adventure meanwhile takemichi and his friends are panicking and looking all over for him

(Name) quietly huffed as he tried catching up with his brother and his group of friends. But unfortunately he was a toddler and couldn't move as fast as he wanted. (Name) tried getting their attention, but ultimately failed. He then noticed he accidentally lost a shoe.

As he looked around for the shoe he had accidentally bumped into someone. As he looked up at the male the first thing he noticed was how tall the male was. It kinda scared it. It then only got worse as the male bent down and smiled widely at him. Which only scared him more. So (Name) did the only thing he knew to do. Cry.

Hanma jumped at the wail let out from the child. Not expecting the toddler to burst into tears. Hanma started to panic. So he did what he thought was the right thing to do. Hanma quickly picked him up, trying to calm him. Only for the wail to turn into a scream. Hanma quickly started bouncing the toddler.

(Name) confused slowly stopped crying and stared at the stranger confused. Hanma sighed glad the wailing stopped. Although, why does this kid look so familiar? There was a few people he knew with black hair, but those blue eyes? Only one person he knew had eyes like that. Hanagaki Takemichi. Hanma slowly smirked.

"I think I'll keep you. Maybe turn you into a Mini Shuji instead of a Mini Takemichi." (Name) was confused then noticed the tattoos on the stranger's hands. Hanma watched the boy's eyes light up. Confused he followed the kids eyes. Upon seeing his tattooed hand, Hanma moved it. Watching the toddler follow the movement.

Oh. This is definitely gonna be entertaining. Hanma smirked wider.

Back with Takemichi and the gang, they were weaving between people. Trying to stay together. None of them noticing the missing member of the said group. They finally made it to their destination. (Name)'s favorite Càfe. Takemichi smiled and turned towards the group.

"(Name) we made it!" The others turned. Looking for the toddler. Unfortunately, he wasn't anywhere to be found. "(NAME)?!" Of course Takemichi immediately panics, which made his friends panic. The middle schoolars quickly looked around, checking to see if the toddler was hiding. He wasn't.

"Takamichi he isn’t here! Who last saw him?!" Akkun took charge. Asking the others when they last saw the tot not getting good answers. "None of you watched out for him?! Makoto he was literally holding your hand!" Said male panicked trying to explain his side. But the others didn't care. "How could we lose him!?"

Yamagishi thought for a moment. "Hey! Why don't we retrace our steps? Maybe we can find him that way?" Takemichi pushed them away and immediately took off towards the way they came. Yelling his brothers name as he went.

As Hanma walked holding (Name), whose (Name) he had learned. Seeing his clothes had his name written in the inside of his shirt collar. As Hanma walked he started talking to the tot. Well more like acknowledging his babbling. Since he couldn't exactly talk well yet. Hanma nodded and saying yes or no every once and a while.

But was interrupted by a punch being thrown towards the lanky male. Usually Hanma would block the punch, but since there was a high chance (Name) would be injured. Hanma stepped back and held (Name) closer. Behind the now fallen male, was a semi-large group. Hanma groaned silently. Enemy Gang.

He'd usually be glad to get into a fight. But he didn't want (Name) getting hurt at the moment. Hanma kicked the laying male towards the group and sent them a silent glare. Warning them to try and attack him again. They ignored him of course. Another person trying to throw a punch. Hanma moved, but didn't expect the guy to try and grab the toddler he was holding.

Hanma's eyes widened then hardened. Hanma moved (Name) to his other arm. Punching the other guy quickly. (Name) whined and hid his face into Hanma's neck. Hanma's glare hardened. They had scared his new baby brother. They're goners.

Hanma as quick as he could he finished the gang. Making sure (Name) was safe and hiding his eyes. Before continuing the fight. Switching (Name) to the other arm when needed. But before throwing another punch or kick, he made sure (Name)'s face was hidden. He didn't want to traumatize the poor boy. He was too young and innocent for this.

After knocking the last guy out, Hanma let out a long sigh. He glaced down at (Name) who was still crying. His heart broke. He carefully rubbed (Name)'s back and started humming softly. Slowly calming the upset toddler. After soothing (Name), Hanma decided to settle down and get some lunch. So he carried (Name) to his favorite Càfe.

Takemichi laid his head on the table crying. They'd gone back as far as his house and (Name) was nowhere to be seen. Takemichi was ready to call the police at this point! He's looked everywhere he could think (Name) could go. Now he's at some random Càfe trying to get the courage to call not only his parents, but the police and tell them he lost his 2 year old brother. In Tokyo of all places.

He can already see how this plays out. His parents will call him irresponsible and ground him until he goes to college. His friends were trying to console him. Tell him he wasn't alone. They were supposed to be helping him watch (Name). They technically all failed at watching the todder today. So if one gets in trouble, they all will be in trouble.

Luckily before he actually had to call his parents. He heard a familiar laughter. He quickly looked around and noticed a somewhat familiar toddler with a very familiar lanky teen. Takemichi could feel the color drain from his face at the sight of his brother.

(Name)'s once pure black hair had been bleached in the front. Along with on his hands Sin and Punishment was written in Kanji on his hands. Takemichi could feel his sweat just pooring off him. His two year old brother looked almost exactly like Hanma. Takemichi quickly made his way over. His friend scrambling behind him.

Once he made it to the booth the two was at, Takemichi tried to grab (Name). Only for the toddler to cry and cling onto the taller teen. Hanma scowled and slapped Takemichi's hands away. "Oi hands off blondie. (Name)'s my brother now." Takemichi froze. (Name) didn't even turn to him. Only clung to Hanma.

Hanma rubbed (Name)'s back soothing the toddler. Ignoring the gaping expression of the other guys surrounding them. (Name) yawned and rubbed his eyes and slowly fell asl÷ep on Hanma. Takemichi was absolutely stunned. (Name) only did that for their mother. "How did you?" Hanma smirked. "Maybe I know my brother better~" Hanma kissed (Name)'s forehea

OKAY, I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE FINALLY ASKED ME ABOUT THIS.

So, this Talentswap AU, it's like the average killing game

*Oh no, Celestia (the protag) got kidnapped and forced in a killing game with 15 other students. She finds Kiyo (the support), and they have to escape, waaaah*

To be honest, what inspired me to make this are Danganronpa V3 (I like how they have features like Scrum Debates, Argument Aranments, and Mass Panic Debates), and the Danganronpa: Another series

So, yeah, everyone's talents are swapped. If you click on the "Danganronpa: A Dice of Despair" tag, you can see everyone's designs and talents. So, what I mainly want to talk about are the characters, their talents, and their personalities, backstories, etc.

There will be a LOT of yapping below, so keep reading if you wanna

‼️‼️TRIGGER WARNING FOR MAJOR SPOILERS IN DANGANRONPA, DARK IMPLICATIONS, AND PERSONAL/SENSITIVE TOPICS‼️‼️

Celestia Ludenberg - Ultimate Lucky Student: So, in this AU, Celestia is the protagonist. She has a mix of her and Makoto's personalities. She can be cold and a douche at times, but she does care about everyone. Here, she has a mix of good luck and bad luck, but they both work at the same time... Somehow? Her real name is still Taeko Yasuhiro, and she made up her fake name to hide who she really is since her family has very dark secrets that could easily crumple her reputation if spilled. Hence why she also doesn't believe that she's really the Ultimate Lucky Student.

Korekiyo Shinguji - Ultimate Swordsman: Here, Kiyo is the support/deuteragonist. Celestia runs into him after escaping into the gym. In this AU, he's aloof, smart, but also starts showing kindness after a while. In Chapter One, he's the one to snap Celestia back to reality after she has her initial panic. He can come off as a bit hostile, but that's because growing up, he didn't have many friends as he spent most of his time training since his family are mostly famous warriors.

Sayaka Maizono - Ultimate Gambler: In this AU, she's more of an anti-hero then an antagonist. She's pretty rude and demanding, and she uses Kiibo to her advantage since he's the Ultimate Butler, and growing up, she had many butlers and maids to her aid whenever she needed them. Eventually, in Chapter Two, Sayaka starts to see that Celestia isn't a bad person, and starts to open up to her. Sayaka's cruel and sadistic personality stems from her childhood where her mother was killed by being burned, and her father basically abandoned her, so Celestia's really the only person she likes. Also, she ALWAYS wins every gambling match (Always? ALWAYS.) As well, she's a bit narcissistic, and thinks she's above everyone.

Byakuya Togami - Ultimate Gamer: Here, Byakuya is more of like an AI (like Chiaki), because his father wanted an heir, and none of his kids were "fit for it". So, Mr. Togami got a friend to create Byakuya. Though, Byakuya was never interested in the Togami Corporation, and took an interest in video games instead. He's a bit insensitive, but does mean well. He doesn't express much emotion, but is protective of the people he cares about, and he has a deep sense of justice. He knows his father doesn't love him, but as long as he has video games, he'll be happy.

Chiaki Nanami - Ultimate Pop Sensation: In this AU, Chiaki is a human. She's a lot more energetic then her game counterpart, and is like who she was in Danganronpa 3. Ever since she was a little girl, Chiaki had dreamed of being a famous star, despite her parents' wishes. She loves to write songs and sing with her group, even though after Chiaki gets trapped in the killing game, her girl group gets killed by the Ultimate Despair, which sends Chiaki into despair, though she masks it well. She'll write a song for everyone in the place, and she'll sing it as loud as she can. She's a great friend to have, like a golden retriever!

Gundham Tanaka - Ultimate Traditional Dancer: So, growing up, Gundham's home life was pretty bad. His family was VERY strict on what he ate, what he wore, and what he said. His house was near a street, and every afternoon, he would sneak there and feed all the tabby cats, making him gain their trust, and making him feel a sense of comfort. He's kind of an asshole in the AU, since he had a bad home life, and it left a huge mark on how he viewed people. Unfortunately, he doesn't want to warm up to anyone, as he's secretly scared they'll just use him, so he closes himself off, and he only trusts the tabby cats.

Hajime Hinata - Ultimate Inventor: Hajime's mother was rarely in the picture, causing him to develop a very close relationship with his father. When his father got ill and passed when Hajime was ten, he found all his father's unfinished inventions. Determined to finish them, Hajime worked for hours, nights even, to make his father proud. Hajime gets his vulgarity and bluntness from the highschool he was at before Hope's Peak Academy, since the crude and rudeness was basically the norm at where he was. Also, yes, Hajime is Izuru in this AU, though I'm still trying to figure out how to write that.

Mahiru Koizumi - Ultimate Astronaut: She's the Antagonist of the AU, so I probably should have placed her up way higher, but I'm too tired to change it. So, Mahiru's mother was an astronaut, and Mahiru has always been intrigued by space. In the village she lived at, she would tell the younger kids stories about space and amazing astronauts, forming a close bond with them. Unfortunately, a few months before Hope's Peak, Mahiru's village was burned down, leaving Mahiru homeless. When she saw the advertisement for Hope's Peak, she took it in a heartbeat. She's kind, a little naive, and protective to make sure she can keep everyone as safe as she can.

Mikan Tsumiki - Ultimate Pianist: School was a very tough time for Mikan, as she was always the targeting of bullying, though she felt safe in her music class. After a very traumatic event, Mikan basically clung to her piano, playing it every day, as many times as she could. She's shy, but also very determined and kind, and she's quite skilled at the other instruments other then piano! Which she personally finds to be very cool!

Nagito Komaeda - Ultimate Anthropologist: Nagito's house was very close to a library, so every day, after school, he would stop by the library and find a book. The ones about culture and evolution were the ones that intrigued him the most. He spent most of his childhood in the hospital, so the library was like a safe space for him. He's also aloof, but somewhat disturbing and also mature. He has to keep a close eye on Hajime, so he's basically Hajime's babysitter (lol).

Sonia Nevermind - Ultimate Detective: Sonia was always very smart, even as a young child, so she didn't have very many friends as she got frustrated by people who weren't as smart. One day, the detectives brought her in to see if she could help them with a case, and she solved it, pretty quickly. She can solve cases quicker then the average detective can. She's pretty quiet most of the time, but she also has a strong sense of justice, is no-nonsense and quick, and she really doesn't have as much empathy as she probably should.

Kaede Akamatsu - Ultimate Princess: So, Kaede is the princess of Japan, so she also has to follow strict and unfair rules. She often but heads with her parents since she wants to actually be her own person and not follow their rules. Her parents had arranged a marriage for her, and when she found out about this, she quickly signed up for Hope's Peak to escape this. She's kind, charming, curious, and always willing to learn. She may not give the best advice, but she tries her best!

Shuichi Saihara - Ultimate Artist: Shuichi here seems like your average Joe. He doesn't really talk highly of himself, and he just does art as a hobby, so he wasn't really expecting it to become his actual talent, lol. Despite all of this, he's fairly nice and pretty chill, but can also be pretty morbid due to the fact he was born and raised in an unusual church. No, he isn't religious. Also, he loves art, but he doesn't draw eyes when he draws people, as he finds it difficult to do (this will come in handy later).

Kirumi Tojo - Ultimate Magician: Growing up, Kirumi always loved magic. She was a street magician for a while before being allowed to enter a school that allowed her to embrace her interests. She's kind, energetic, and kooky since she had been seen as a "weird kid" by most people growing up. Despite this, she's incredibly loyal to those around her, and she can be scarily serious when she needs to.

Kiibo (Idabashi) - Ultimate Butler: So, in this AU, Kiibo is also human, so I will refer to him as Kiibo Idabashi. He always loved helping people, despite what they asked him to do. His father, Professor Idabashi, spent a lot of time on robotic engineers, so that led Kiibo to wander off... a LOT. He always enjoys to serve people, and he enjoys Celestia's company. He doesn't like Sayaka much though, as she uses him. There are also times where he feels empty, like a robot. Though, he's hardworking, devoted, and can take on even the hardest of tasks.

Rantaro Amami - Ultimate Photographer: Rantaro still has twelve sisters in this AU, and they always loved for him to take pictures of them, to where they would even ask him daily to take pictures of scenery they liked and outfits they liked. Rantaro found himself enjoying photography, even in the darkest of times. At first, he's bossy and a bit stubborn, but he eventually learns to trust his classmates and even befriends most of them. After that, he's kind, still a little stubborn and bossy, but more willing to hear others out. Also, him and Korekiyo become quite close very quickly!

I'm SO sorry that I talked more about the characters and their backstories then their roles!! I'll make a relationship chart of them in a post eventually. Also, this took a long while and isn't my usual content, so my bad! Also, if you read all of this, thank you 💕

guys, i gotta be real with you. this was the most unsatisfying horseshit. it felt like nothing mattered, and honestly it felt like they were making a mockery of us for enjoying the previous games and content. i didn't like it. and honestly it felt...lazy? like i had been speculating so much about how this would connect with the rest of the danganronpa plot and how this would build upon the already established story and characters. like you should've seen the theories i had in my head (one of my best ones: tsumugi was a rogue hope's peak student who idolized junko and wanted to do a killing game in her honor. keebo was a plant from makoto and the future foundation/academy to guide the others and eventually help lead to their rescue - that would've been a great plotline tbh). but no, none of that happened, it didn't build on the story, it didn't add to it, it wasn't part of the same story. it was just............nothing. it didn't lead anywhere, it didn't build up to anything. it just went nowhere and did nothing, it wasn't connected. it felt like all the investigating i did to find out the truth was a waste of time, and all the plot twists and turns that happened and all the choices the characters made had no fucking payoff. it was so frustrating. there are so many creative choices they could've made to build on the story in the danganronpa world but...that meta bullshit was not it.

in other news, i have already started writing a fanfiction: an alternate version of v3 that actually takes place in-universe, therefore making all the games connected! and i think what i've thought up is pretty good, ngl. it might be related to that theory i mentioned above. if you're interested in reading, lmk and i'll work to write it faster!

It’s time for a new little series, one I’ve been wanting to do for a while! Because it’s time for some good ol’ fic appreciation in this series I’ll call Fic Friday! As the name suggests, this will be a weekly thing!

Every Friday I’ll just talk about a fic I love and why! This is just to show some appreciation to my fellow fic authors and maybe get some new people to read their fics. This means that these posts will be spoiler free, other than mentioning thins like a vague description of the plot and which characters get focus. I’ll also accept fic submissions, but more about at the end of the post.

For now, let’s get right into the first fic! I’ve you’ve read my posts before, this first one won’t be a shocker in the slightest- today I’ll be talking about Ultimates by @seashellcosmos, AKA my fav fic off al time. There’s a reason I have written multiple one-shots about this fanfic and this fanfic only.

Now, Ultimates is the first part in a 3-part series, but rn I will really just discuss Ultimates. The other 2 will have to wait… Onto the actual rambling part though!

The plot: It is good. There are many ways to do a superhero/superpower AU, but with something like danganronpa the first thing that would come to mind is making HPA like a school for superheroes and all of that (amazing idea tho! Somebody should for sure start writing it while telling people about a secret fic they’re writing that might be about this) but that is not what Seashell did.

Instead, it’s about a group of kids with superpowers being locked up in HP for their own safety. Oh, and there’s the fact that Makoto has no idea that superpowers exist because he for sure doesn’t have them.

There are also just a lot of awesome plot twists and references to danganronpa. I don’t want to spoil anything, but gosh this fic is pure theory material. Literally. I was writing full fletched theories after each chapter in the comments like I was MatPat discussing the FNAF lore. There was simply so much happening. That was also helped by the fact that almost all chapters are over 10K. Yes. That’s a 10, not a 1.

But getting back to the plot- it’s something very original that just makes you keep guessing. While there’s quite some foreshadowing, nothing is really predictable. It’s just genuinely so well written that ARGH. It also brings me to my next point.

The worldbuilding: Because there sure is a lot of it. There’s a lot about how their powers work, the lives of some of the characters, and just HP in general. Again, keeping it spoiler free, but the world just feels so… alive.

As of when the fic is taking place, there is a lot of stuff happening in the world, which for sure isn’t pushed to the side. Time and time again we as the readers get to know more about the world these characters live in, sometimes in small ways but sometimes in bigger ways too. This is also most definitely expended on in the sequels, but that really is just for another time. Right now, I want to get into my third point.

The characters: Each THH character at least gets some focus, though the main focus would have to be on the main trio- Makoto, Kyoko, and Byakuya. Especially with Kyoko and Byakuya we get to learn a lot about their past and family. Adding onto this, if you have read TUMI, this is the reason that ship in in there. That’s all I will say about that tho.

But it isn’t just these 3 that get focus- all the characters do. I especially love Sayaka and Taka in this out of the other characters. They both have really nice arcs and it’s nice to see how they develop. Mukuro too- this fic made me love her a lot more.

As for the main 3, they are all 3 written so well. Makoto gets the most focus here and while he might just be going through it, he is just written so well. Again, no spoilers… but if you are a Makoto fan, you must read this. His development is just so nice to read, and you get to feel for him a lot.

Then Kyoko also gets a lot of focus. She is also just written wonderfully and it’s really nice to see how the relationship between her and Makoto develops- not a spoiler cuz it’s in the tags. But she also has a lot of development separate from Makoto… maybe a wee bit literally.

That leaves the third of the trio. Byakuya. My boy. My sweet boy that I love so much and gosh damn do I love how he’s written here. Just ARGH. His arc is so well and nice and AAAHHHH. I also won’t name him… but him. He sucks and I love him and he’s awful and he better appear soon again, but he better be better now.

That aside, words cannot describe just how nice his arc is. We get to learn a lot about his past which is awesome- the getting to know about the past, I mean with that- and he is just written well. Plus… let’s just say he loves just the green in there, which I always love to see! (Aro Byakuya!!) And his relationship with [REDACTED] is also just adorable.

Extra stuff: Just yes. There’s a reason I just love this fic so much and it’s because it’s just clear how much love and effort there was poured into it. Every chapter is long and beautiful, and the story can get absolutely heartbreaking at times but in the best way possible. It makes you feel so much and just keeps you guessing about what will happen next- you guys are very lucky you don’t need to wait for the next chapters.

So, please go read this if you haven’t. It’s so worth it. I adore this fic so much no words can describe it. There’s a reason I keep talking about it and it’s because I just love it so much!

As for the submission thingy- you can submit practically any fic, even your own. There are just a few small rules. Firstly, I only read THH stuff, so only fics with THH characters. That are simply fics I’ll enjoy more.

Then, while I am open to reading fics that contain ships with Byakuya, no Naegami, Togafuka, Celesgami or Chigami. Just don’t really like reading those- platonic versions of those ships are allowed tho!

And lastly, while the fic doesn’t need to be on AO3, if it has an AO3 version, please send me that one lol. Just prefer reading on AO3. Though, if it’s only on Wattpad, FF.net or another site, that’s fine!

I also can’t promise I’ll read the fic immediately since I already know a few fics I will need to do, but don’t be afraid to sent it! The fic also doesn’t need to be finished! Just send me an ask with the link!

Not Makoto being lost in Shuichi's eyes in the naehara bookclub au and still not realizing he has a crush. I can't even imagine how the book club meetings would go after they both realize they're in love with the other but neither have confessed or realized the other's feelings

(Follow-up to this post)

Oh gosh, imagine Shuichi notices that Makoto has suddenly started acting shy and awkward around him (because Makoto is bad at hiding his feelings) and Shuichi gets excited by it, trying to encourage Makoto to make a move. But he's using the same indirect tactics as before, talking about the book or other couples at school or anything other than the actual real life feelings he has, and Makoto still isn't taking the hint.

So we get a situation where Shuichi is pretty sure they both like each other and wants Makoto to ask him out (since surely it would be disrespectful for the underclassman to be the one to make a move), and Makoto knows he likes Shuichi but assumed surely Shuichi would say something if he returned his feelings, plus wouldn't it be wrong for him to initiate things, since he's an upperclassman? Plus, Shuichi is the Ultimate Detective's Assistant, and one of Makoto's best friends is the Ultimate Detective. What if Makoto asks him out and Shuichi thinks he has to date Makoto to keep things from being weird between him and Kyoko? Shuichi and Kyoko have to work together occasionally, and Makoto has already made things kind of weird between them by accidentally making Shuichi so defensive of him, and...

This goes on for way too long.

Shuichi's like, "I heard Owada and Ishimaru from your class are going to the festival together...as a couple."

"Yeah, they are!" Makoto is relieved that Shuichi has forgiven Mondo for the, uh, police incident. "It's their first time officially going out like that. Everyone's really excited. The whole class has been waiting for them to finally confess their feelings."

"Which one of them did?"

"Taka. A lot of people expected Mondo to do it, but I knew it'd be Taka. He can be honest to a fault, sometimes. Mondo can be blunt and passionate, but he also keeps things bottled up a lot."

"It must be...nerve-wracking, to keep something like that bottled up."

Makoto laughs nervously. "I'll bet."

"Why do you think someone would do that?"

"I don't know. Maybe a fear of rejection? And I know Mondo kind of hates being vulnerable..."

"I'd like to go to the festival, but I don't know who I'd go with."

"I thought you were going with Kaede's group. Isn't Kaede going with a bunch of friends?"

"Uh, y-yeah, but I...I just meant...Never mind."

"What is it? Are you and Kaede not friends anymore?"

"No! No, we are! I was just...I was talking about something else. Never mind. Hey, how did you like this chapter's cliff hanger? I was so annoyed when it ended!"

Makoto follows the change in subject, but he makes a mental note that something might be going on with Shuichi and his friends. Should he ask Kaede about it? Or is that too much...

Oh the competency of FF is something that I always find very funny. Considering that the organization has images of all the Remnants faces and appearance and have physically seen them according to Ep 1 one of Future Arc, one would have to wonder how Class 77-B managed to be captured by FF without anyone getting suspicious.

I think there was a way. A very simple way that makes the FF look rather silly.

Recall that this is what the FF has on file about the Remnants.

This is what they know they look like. Who to identify and capture.

Now look at the Remnants post them getting picked up by FF and brought to Jabberwock Island.

This is how FF was hoodwinked. The Remnants all changed their clothes from their Ultimate despair outfits to unassuming school uniforms. FF didn't have any images of the Remnants in these uniforms to cross reference with so that's why they thought these were just random students from Hope's Peak.

It is really silly to think that FF could not tell they had the Remnants at the HQ becuase of some clothes swapped but I think it tracks. Every group has a blind spot somewhere, mistakes can happen and this was one mistake that the FF made. Plus there's the possibility that Chisa knew right away that the Remnants were unknowingly picked up but since she's already brainwashed, she made sure her coworkers didn't look too closely at the class.

One point I will bring up that will add a few creditable points to FF is that is probably didn't take too long for FF to realize they have the Remnants. The time frame between the second and third email could have been a less than a month or less than a week. And once FF did find out they had the Remnants, they would immediately kill them, it probably would explain why Makoto had to quickly and quietly smuggle everyone onto a boat to get they out of HQ. He found out who the 15 Survivors really were and knew that FF wants to kill the Remnants, so getting them out as fast as he could was the best option.

THIS FOLLOWING SHORT IS A PARODY OF PART OF THE PROLOGUE OF ULTRA DESPAIR GIRLS (you know the one with the news scene), WARNING: THIS STORY CONTAINS UNSETTLING CONTENT, THIS ALSO CONTAINS BLOOD THE CORPSE , VIEWER IS ADVISED!!!!!!

Another mission done, Makoto Komaru and others has helped the survivors escaped the Despairing doom and sent to the Future Foundation secret sanctuary with Haji.

The gang returned to the Foundation filled with celebration, until all is short when a black out occur, everyone panicked well all except some like Byakuya who are just chill as if they're expected about this that this is the work of something evil. However the screen in front of them turned on showing some static at the moment, Makoto and others looked at the screen, nothing but static, there were giggling noises but suddenly they soon see a terrible sight, the screen then shows a dead body it's the member of the future foundation, behind him is the screen lit up but is covered in childish like drawings on the wall and they're in pink blood. the group were shocked, terrified even.

"W-wha? What is this?" Makoto questioned, some whispers were heard one from another, Aoi questioned "I-is he dead?" "it looks like it" Komaru answered, just then they heard the giggles again and a girl walked in the scene next to the dead future foundation agent, she looked like she's an ultimate but why is she next to the body and why is she smiling, suddenly the body started to move around, the group watching are shocked.

They then saw three more people who are moving the puppet, the purple haired boy named Kokichi was making some sorts of noises while he and a red haired girl, Himiko control the dead body like a puppet. "Buh Buh Buh Bam! Nehehee I'm a Despair Police!" Said Kokichi mockingly pretending to be the future foundation, he continues as he turned the corpse to Kaede "RAWR! HAHAHAHA! I'm gonna defeat ya!" Kaede giggled playing along with the others " oh no please don't hurt me!" she said, the other girl Tenko chimed in, her akkido hands at the ready "Don't worry Kaede I'll save you!"

"hey, Kokichi, does those foundation guys really say rawr like that? I may be a mage but I'm pretty sure that's not how they sound like." Himiko asked and explained, Kokichi shrugged, "meh who cares, I told ya style is important for this kinda thing, it's all in the wrists." he explained with a boast of pride, Kokichi and Himiko then continued to control the corpse like it was a zombie except they're playing some cops and robbers, Kokichi Voices the corpse, "Rawr! Rawr! Rawr! I'm gonna defeat ya!" Kaede giggled and runs off saying no while the two puppet controllers chased after her and Tenko chases after them playing along as the hero of despair.

Kaede playfully said "Please don't hurt me! please don't bring hope to me! please don't arrest me!" Tenko was chasing the corpse puppet acting like a hero, "Don't worry Kaede I'll defeat that degenerate male!" she said while chasing after them before going to the camera as if she's making a message saying "Nu uh, attacking women is a no no!" you can even hear Kokichi and Himiko arguing for a turn to voice the corpse puppet.

Meanwhile the Future Foundation watching this is in frozen fear, some like Byakuya silently mad as if they got offended, "W-what are they doing with that body?" Komaru asked and Aoi answered "it's like they're using it as a toy." Back to the screen where suddenly Maki and the other Remnants Kaito, Angie and Shuichi, Maki scolds at the group for goofing while Kaito goes to the corpse puppet Angie notices the camera and waved hello with a cute smile.

"Hey what are you guys doing?! Be more serious! didn't I tell you this broadcast is important? This is the Remnants of Despair's keynote agress!" Maki Scold, Kokichi responded to Maki "Geez what are you so worked up about, oh wait I bet you wanna play too huh Maki?" he smiled, with that Kokichi and Himiko controlled the corpse ready to start back the chasing. "Stop that don't come over here!" Maki yelled but they aren't listening, even Kaito and Tenko started chasing the corpse puppet, Maki and Shuichi did a head start of running, Kaede stood down from the desk and did her playfully dramatic voice "Please help no!" She and Angie who laughed with a "nyahaha" ran away, Himiko and Kokichi controlling the corpse chased after them while Kaito and Tenko being heroic chased after the corpse puppet.

They all laughed and running around and Maki shouting stop to them but they're still chasing around, this goes on for a while until they all trip and fell on top of each other like in a pile, lots of giggles and laughter can be heard. Byakuya tsked with disgust, "hmph, such childishness." he scoffed "well you're not wrong." Yasihiro agreed, back to the screen another Remnant entered in front of the camera, this time it's a blued haired girl named Tsumugi, Makoto looked at her in surprised. "who's that?" he said, lots of giggles from the other remnants chasing after each other can be heard while Tsumugi smiles and made the announcement.

"Attention Citizens of the Future Foundation, it is a pleasure to meet you, for we are The New Remnants of Despair, we are the new grand warriors of Junko Enoshima."

Kaito and Tenko were chasing after each other until Kaito stops in front of the camera to pose, Kokichi pushed Kaito to the other side of the view but they both did poses while Tsumugi continues. "Your town, your precious, boring, peaceful and your hopeful ridden world will soon be more of a despair playground for our Monokumas it is on this sight that we shall create a new world of despair, for despair, by despair, and there for all of the Future Foundation will stand no chance against all of us, goodbye...." with a sinister smile Tsumugi waved at the camera and then the broadcast goes out of signal and with that the screen is shut off, leaving the Foundation speechless, now they have a new threat to deal with, seemly childish as Byakuya described might as well be just a prank but hopefully they're not worse than the old Remnants of Despair. (cough! Danganronpa 2 Cough!)

I love that no character is one-dimensional:

Sara is not goody two shoes protagonist with unwavering hope (I like Makoto it's not his slander I really promise I love kind guys), she has the highest chance of winning. It can't happen to ultimate cinammon roll. The balance between her caring side that wants to protect everybody and using charisma to her advantage is so tricky and yet it works (though I am a bit baffled at how she changes without Joe in AI simulations).

Joe is not only cheery cheesy best friend that dies just so you can cry about it (even if it's true as well). Joe is distrustful, he is scared and he kind of wants to escape with sacrifice card knowing what it entails. So he came up with a plan where good people being majority would live, and if not he can feel less guilt. Amazing idea! And we all know how he returns in second chapter. A sing of ungrounded guilt that doesn't correspond to reality whatsoever but can't be combated with logic alone. In best case scenario it is defeated with reminder of how real Joe behaved, showing how faulty our perception can get from trauma.

Keiji is not just sexy detective that supports Sara, oh no. This guy gets close to our heroine on purpose and I dare say kind of uses her for own gain. Then, his trauma doesn't equal all of his character nor it magically justifies killing Megumi, it simply explains his current actions. And of course I really want to believe that he is not some creep flirting with people in most suspicious way. He just needs excuse for evading akward questions. This man, deprived of sleep because of his sins, is both cunning and kind, capable of cruelty and striving to be like his idol.

Kanna and Gin are not annoying children that constantly need saving or exist to evoke sympathy. In Kanna's case sympathy is natural, but it is not the only thing going for her. Kanna is about giving a chance, letting go regrets, making thought-out sacrifice and when it fails moving on to make sure it doesn't have to happen. She develops constantly, bringing ideas to the table and trying to get all group stay united. Kanna makes conscious choice to spend time with Shin to get information, so while she can be manipulated it's not always the case and she's not all naїveness. Her arc of overcoming trauma and insecurity may seem familiar to characters from other media, but it is unique and distinctive.

Gin is autism representation without making him vilain or weird. He has some pecularities, for example, wearing animal-like clothes and repeating animal sounds, and yet nobody bats an eye, so surely he's no outcast or useless (on the contrary, he is quite useful remembering names in the bar, using scent, helping morally etc). Gin's the least morally gray of the cast, but it doesn't mean he is cardboard nice support kid either: he has his dislikes or his own thoughts (he is quite distrustful toward Kanna because he's younger and doesn't use age as justification for her actions).

Reko seems simple enough, a hot-tempered rock star, emo/punk lady many would like to date. Strict to the strong, kind to the weak. She had a lot of changing in the past and it continues here, she is becoming softer. But it's not her only trait: she's a talented singer that was interested purely in music and it's perfection. She ignored to some degree her happiness, her band, her beloved brother for the sake of art. She wasn't indifferent, but appeared as such. And now, finally having a better understanding of what's important and bright future ahead she ends up in a death game with Alice. Their plotline is prominent in second chapter and is devastatingly tragic.

Alice looks like comic relief with his exaggerated reactions and bizzare choice of words (personally I love this type of speaking it's cool). But he is actually not only a scaredy cat: he is a person without a purpose. He searched for it in a path with sister, but no happiness came, only murder of Midori. Alice hides his soft side to not be hurt, he on purpose builds a wall and appears so arrogant because when he was openly kind the close ones were indifferent (not to mention prison, I admire how Alice kept his sanity at all).

Shin is a prime example of morally gray character done right (majority here are morally gray but with him being antagonist it's far more prominent). I have seen various post about fandom interpreting him either as "totally evil manipulator", "Kokichi/Nagito kinnie", "cinnamon roll he did nothing wrong" or "what a loser". But he's not just good or bad, him having antagonist status doesn't make him Ouma copycat or Komaeda's successor, and while I get him being a loser is funny it's not the only thing to define him (though it's more of a joke than serious interpretation). Shin is very insecure and distrustful guy who "sees shadows where there aren't any" (quoting Sara) due to 0% and wants to live, using all methods... until he gets attached. He plots mainly against people he considers his enemies (to tell the truth, with 0% anybody could be classified as enemy), and I think he wouldn't abandon those close to him like Kanna, perhaps partly due to guilt of using her. In general, his actions, while obviously not the best (and he knows it perfectly well), come from fear of death and paranoia rather than pure malice or craziness.

Nao may appear as mentally weak girl you constantly have to help and can't rely on. Yes, Nao has problems with dependance on other, but she has her own aces up her sleeves. She's creative, smart, open-minded. For me her advantage lies in unexpectedness: who knew she saw through AI's lies? For her own sake and for the group Nao is capable of difficult actions like puching fake Reko. This girl is about growing more responsible, learning to trust your own judgement (she has great intuition by the way) and becoming independent.

Kai is quite too unique for stereotypes in my mind, a mysterious but awfully suspicious man. He looks so feminine but don't let that deceive you: he's assasin. Assasin that doesn't kill. Kai is the person escaping from his bloodied, horrible, traumatic past into right, calm, tranquil future with only householding chores and not killing attempts to protect... wrong people (Sara is not bad person, but her father is likely to be tied to Asunaro). So poor househusband is leaping from one abusive enviroment into another, but now being genuinely loyal and unaware of all skeletons kept in closet.

Q-Taro is certainly not only kindhearted big muscular guy (that dies in certain chapter) or stupid. Yes, he looks like parody on American, yes, all his accents make his speech a bit silly and stereotypical. No, he's not dumb. In fact, many plot twists involve him in some way (especially the banquet). Also, he could sacrifice his life for somebody, but he is equally capable of doing the opposite. Q-Taro is quite honest but not above tricks to leave this place, he cares for th group (taking into accout his team-spirited profession) but prioritises himself until later; he knows how sinful people are including him and that allows him to forgive quickly.

Finally, Mishima dies so early you don't hope to see him after 1.1. But if you think he's the shock value first victim that dissapears after, you are not quite right. Mishima, being dead, yet has influence on story as well, either through mystery of his head or AI that appear three times (maybe something is really up with him). Not to mention Ytts where his character shines and not burns. Him being almost perfect doesn't ruin anything, it motivates to become better as well because he wasn't always like this. Plus, he's no ideal, Mishima understands how world works but is passionate to a fault, not to mention his suspicious behavior. He is example of a person that matured, overcame his main faults and inspires the same in others.

Of course, everyone can interpret these characters differently and it's great, those perseptions can be true all at once. They are so interesting and captivating thanks to many layers of depth where everybody can see something unique.

As students gathered in the main hall for breakfast, something strange occurred to them and Makoto was the first person to speak about it, "Where's Taka? I thought he'd be the first person here..." His eyes scanned the group gathered around the singular, large table.

"And [Name] for that matter, they are not here either," Sakura found it odd, as you'd always sit with her for breakfast.

Oh if only they knew...

If the group took the time to wander back to the dorms, they'd find you both. Or... hear you.

You had gone to meet Ishimaru to go to the breakfast meeting together; it became common routine that you'd meet him, straighten his uniform adornments and kiss him for a morning greeting.

But on the way there, he hurriedly shoves you in a closet, himself following soon after and had you against the door inside. "T-Taka...?!"

"Ssh..." his lips met yours for a moment, before pulling back, "Let's... break the rules... at least once..."

Where has the Ultimate Prefect nature gone? The time to consider this, however, was not now. Feverish, hasty kisses were had, his tongue occasionally glossing the edge of yours and his body was keeping you flush against the door.

Small whimpers, whines and gasps came from both you and Taka, entangling your hands in his hair and fully submerging to his dominant desires. "Taka..." his name fell from your lips in an effortless whisper.

"Yes...?"

"Don't..." His expression changed, worried you hadn't wanted any of this, but the worries were swiftly quelled; "Don't stop...! Please...!"

A long shuddery breath was heard from him, before he plunged in again for another kiss. Shy and teasing behaviours changed; his tongue was in your mouth without hesitation and he began to grind himself against you.

You whined against his lips as he also brought your wrists up and held them to the door behind you. You wrapped your legs around him, letting him take full control but-

You both parted with a squeal as the door opened, leading you both to fall out and look up, greeted by Aoi’s surprised expression,

“Oh there you guys are!” She smiled, before looking across you both; your legs still around Taka’s waist, the blush spread across both your faces… “OH.”

“Aoi, wait-!” Taka scrambled up, straightening his uniform.

“I’m gonna tell!” She squealed, running back off towards the dining hall, making Taka chase after her, “Don’t you dare!”

You lay there, flustered but falling into giggles, hopefully Taka’s reputation as a prefect won’t take too hard of a knock.

Mini Fanfic #1260: Smash Family Meeting!! (Super Smash Bros Ultimate)

12:15 p.m. at the Smash Mansion's Living Room.......

As the first day of the brand new year in the Smash Town continues to pass by the hour, the select few who has not only participated in the recent bet between the two soon to be married couple, Ren and Makoto, but also various other bets in the past, are all gathered in the living room, talking and socializing among one another until the sound of a grovel slamming down on the plate as they turn their attention to the host of today'smeeting: Princess Zelda.

Zelda: Settle down now, everyone! The Smash Family Meeting in session. (Smiles Brightly) First and foremost, I wanna wish you all a Happy New Year today!~ May this be our best one yet.

Everyone in the Room: (Cheers and Applauds in Rejoice)

Toon: WOO!

Zelda: (Giggles a Bit While Clapping as Well) Yes, yes~ There's a whole lot to look forward to: Possible snow days....

Everyone: Ooooh!~

Zelda: Preparations for Ren-Ren, Makoto, Ann, and Shiho's big, romantic wedding in the future~ (Giggles Some More)

Dark Pit: (Sitting in the Middle of his Two Girlfriends on the Sofa Together, Annoyed and Pissed) Yeah, and I would've gotten away with all of that cash too if it weren't for this meddling family and their wholesomeness!

Misako: (Gently Ruffles the Top of her Boyfriend's Hair on One Side) Shimmer down, Babe. It's not really that big of a loss.

Kyoko: (Hugs Pitto's Arm on the Other Side) Yeah! Plus, you love your family and their wholesomeness, remember?

Before he could dare try to finish the rest of his sentence, the dark angel sudden notice almost everyone in the room (except for Yoshi who is giving him an raised eyebrow, Mewtwo who as nonchalant as he always been, Misako who's smirking, and Kyoko who is giggling the whole way through) giving him sad puppy dog eyes.

Misako: Wanna go on?~

Dark Pit: (Pinches the Bridge of his Nose While Groaning in Annoyance and Defeat) No....I'm just gonna save myself the trouble and say I love you immensely or...whatever. (Turns Away While Blushing)

Everyone in the Room: AWWWWWWWWWW~

Zelda: (Giggles Softly) Good choice!~ We love you too, you big softy~ (Winks at Dark Pit)

Owain: (Let's Out a Nostalgic Like Sigh) This incident is beginning to bring back such fond memories~

Mewtwo: (Turns to Owain with a Raised Eyebrow in Curiosity) You've gambled as well, Owain?

Owain: (Chuckles Lightly) Not by choice. You see, my old friend/former fellow retainer, Niles, would used to drag me to a couple of these Black Jack him and his card mates at the gentleman's club bar as his bodyguard. I've learned quite a lot about their betting terms and sportsmanship as a whole despite it's rowdy atmosphere and the numerous all-out brawls that occurred at the time.

Zelda: (Eyes Widened in Complete Shock and Horror) All-Out Brawls!?

Owain: Yep. From fist fights to throwing chairs, even tables in some instances. Each of which gets more and more chaotic than the last. (Snickers a Bit) I don't I'll ever forget the time where this really huge fellow appeared behind me, out of nowhere, and spin me around like a mini twister before tossing me over to a group of other scalawags and knocking them out like bowling pins!

Owain begins to chuckle at the memory in question until he notices his fair madien is staring at him the whole with complete concern in her eyes

Owain: (Quickly Shakes his Hands and Gives Zelda a Sheepish, Yet Reassuring Looking Smile on his Face) B-B-But the damage I dealt that night wasn't completely bad, i assure you! Our highness' little sister was able to heal me the very next morning, right after she scolds Niles and I for our recklessness however.....(Chuckles a Bit Awkwardly)

Zelda: (Hugs Her Boyfriend Very Lovingly While Turning Back to the Crowd in the Room) Now you all see how dangerous these betting games can get?

Ness: That was one heck of story, I'll admit.

Owain: (Happily Bows His Head to his Audience) Thank you, I aim to please.

Ness: But I highly doubt the bets we do ends on a brawl of any kind.

Roy starts thinking about how all of his previous bullying attempts ended with him either getting kicked in the chins, hit with Ashley's full blank magic blast, or German Suplexed on a hard creek floor, by his own little sister of all people.

Zelda: Thought so. We should be using the money we earned to buy what we wanna buy or even save and add more of it down the line, not waste it all away with these pointless bets.

Roy: (Points at Kirby Sitting on Top of the Sofa's Arm Rest with a Surprised Look on his Face) You should tell that our resident pink puffball over there. He's been winning the.mpst bets left and right since we started doing this whole thing.

Kirby: (Glares at Roy For Casually Snitching on Him) Poyo!

Zelda: ('Gasps') Kirby! Is this true!?

Roy: (Smirks at Kirby) We're waiting.

Mewtwo uses his psychic powers to freezes Kirby's movements, keeping him from running away from the meeting any further, as he casually levitate him up in the air without any issues, much to thr puffball's surprise

Kirby: (Siys in the Air While Pouting in Defeat) Poyo.......(Gets Levitated Over to Zelda)

Zelda: He- (Eyes Widened in Complete Shock) WHAT!?

Zelda: How dumb and reckless placing bets over our allowance has gotten in this mansion in recent years. (Smiles Brightly and Confidently) We're hopefully planning on putting an end to doing it once and for all. (Let's Out a Bit of a Heavily Sigh) Keyword being "Hopefully."....

Morrigan: I feel your pain and am rooting for you all as we speak, my dear. I'll never understand the appeal of this foolishness.....

Zelda: Right!? It's so dumb! Do you and your sister ever get wrap up in one yourselves, Auntie Morrigan?

Morrigan: (Places her Hands on Both her Cheeks While Smiling Very Fondly at that-) I'm an auntie!~ (Notices Zelda is Still Before Clearing Her Throat) Why, yes. We have place bets on a few , numerous ocassions. ('Sighs in Annoyance') And for some, unexplainable misfortunes, I always end up losing in the end, prompting her to find every opportunity to gloat about it within my presence! (Crosses her Arms While Pouting) So annoying......

Dedede: (Shrugs) 'Ey, it's miles better than having a bunch of sport fans and drunkards gloat at you all night at a sports bar.

Yoshi: You're talking about that same sports bar a few streets across from Big Bang's, right? You used place your wagers there?

Dedede: ('Sighs Heavily') Yeah.....Back when I real down on my luck after my exile from Dreamland. Got more losses in my than I could even care to remember counting at that point, so i stopped going shortly after. (Smiles a Bit) And I'm glad I didn't look back since. I rather spending the rest of my life being an uncle to you kids then wasting them tryin' and failin' to win a few buck-

Before he could finish his sentence, Dedede suddenly felt Zelda hugging him on his stomach, followed by Kirby, and few more others that happily joins in for the group hugfest

Dedede: (Winces a Bit in Pain Chuckling Hug) Wo-hoho now! Is this another New Years Group or something?

Zelda: (Smiles Brightly) More like a"We Love and Appericate You" kind of hug~ You've earned it after all the work and trouble put into looking after us.

Everyone in the hug pile happily nodding in a collective agreement.

Dedede: (Heart Begins to Melt in Genuine Happiness) Well, ain't y'all the sweetest in the world. Thank you. (Turns to See the Triuple Sitting on the Sofa) What y'all three waiting for? A hug invitation?

Dark Pit: Do we have to join?

Dedede: (Lughtly Glares at Pitto) Boy, don't you gimme that lazy attitude in a brand new year now. Come on.

Kyoko: (Smiles Brightly) Don't have to tell us twice, Mr. De!~ (Gets Up and Sprints Herself Over to the Griup Hug)

Misako: (Drags Pitto Along For the Group Hug with Her) You heard the man, babe.

Dark Pit: I'm going, I'm going.

Dedede: (Turns to One More Person Missing Out) You too, Roy. Step right up.

Roy: (Clicks his Teeth Before Getting Up From his Seating and Walking Over to Group Hug) I knew I should've never go in that dumb line......

Is 1 your favorite of the danganronpas? my personal favorite is 2 but I'm always interested to hear about other people's fav parts of all three main games

YES. IT IS. and the thing about that is that i got into dr around abooout... 2015 i wanna say? so like. 7th grade. little too young to get into an m rated game, granted, but you cant snitch on me because that version of myself doesnt exist anymore so ha ha. anyways

i discovered dr1 because i used to find all my music through looking at MEPs (multi editor projects) and realized a lot of cool ones were labelled with this thing called "danganronpa" and the clips i saw in them just like. gripped me. there was something about them i couldnt look away from.

it was the executions, specifically celeste's, that i just couldn't stop rewinding to. this imagery of this very thick, stylized, almost paper-craft style of this MASSIVE stage literally unfolding to life around this person. it was SPECTACLE. something designed JUST FOR YOU. a DEATH TRAP designed just for you. that always stuck with me. and so, y'know, i decided to check it out, and obviously i start with dr1.

the ENG translation was out at this time but the LP i watched used the fan translation patch so i learned all their names japanese-style lol. but anyways. i fell in LOVE. hard. now, obviously the series has its problems, id argue its more famous for its problems these days than its achievements, but i think the general aesthetic and concept of DR still really grip me. to this day. the almost surreal, dreamlike environment of the school- neon-lit halls, days that start to bleed together, what is clearly a massive area devoid of any life, with rooms you've never seen before in a school, your classmates in the halls in that charming paper-2d style... it all lended itself to the murder mystery parts very well. the dreamlike parts extending to the executions, which were so... THEY WERE SO. i wouldn't call them RIDICULOUS. or IMPOSSIBLE. but they were OSTENTATIOUS. yet dark. and that really stuck with me, y'know? this emotional whiplash of dragging a confession out of someone, wanting to make them pay for what they did to your classmate, but at the same time, hearing them cry their hearts out, because their hand was forced, and then, having to see them die in the most undignified way- all as one big performance, one big joke with them as the grisly punchline.

and the characters only added to that for me. i was intrigued by kyoko's secrets, felt bad for sayaka and leon, and oh god don't even get me STARTED on taka and mondo. not knowing anything about dr, my jaw DROPPED when ch 3 started and taka just... didn't bounce back. i wasn't expecting it at all. and i watched, hungry for information, for the truth, as the illusion of normalcy slowly fell apart for the group- but so too did the killing game as the group slowly breaks the formula apart until monokuma's forced to dump an old corpse back into play to get makoto and kyoko out of his way. and then the reveal that THEY *WERE* ALL FRIENDS ALL ALONG, AND THESE STRANGERS HAD BEEN KILLING THEIR BEST FRIENDS THE ENTIRE TIME... THE APOCALYPSE REVEAL, THE FACT THAT THE CLASS TEARING EACH OTHER APART IS THEM DIRECTLY DISMANTLING THE LAST HOPE SOCIETY HAD, SEALING THE ULTIMATES IN THERE... ooooh. OOOH. the allure may be long gone, as this is now common knowledge, but in that moment, i FELT it. i felt like my entire world had been turned upside down with that knowledge.

and i came out of that like "WOW, THAT WAS REALLY COOL!! DANGANRONPA FANDOM WHAT DO YOU THINK?!" and the danganronpa fandom was like "its 2015, everyone is talking about sdr2 now." and i was like "oh." and i lowkey started getting a little resentful of dr2 for taking up all of dr1's attention. my little childbrain decided right then and there it was Overrated. and this kinda uninterested-ness i haven't really managed to shake off, ngl, even though i know it's specifically cos of those childhood feelings of mine.

i do enjoy sdr2 quite a lot these days! i think it has fun mysteries, the cast is nice, hajime is probably an upgrade from makoto NGL, but, like, nostalgia bias gets in the way. y'know? for my own emotions haha. BUT. i will say. i think it's smart the team didn't go with a confined space twice in a row, but the fact that the game is out on a big big island, even if it's deserted, that kinda did take away from one of my favourite aspects of the game- the claustrophobia. and there's also a lot of other aspects i LOVED about dr1 that kinda couldn't be recreated with sdr2, and i'm alright with that. i don't think it really makes dr1 the "superior" game. i think sdr2's clearly shown it's more beloved for a reason just based off public perception. but it's a matter of personal preference for me!

also the 2010-era grunginess of dr1 charms me more

so i guess, tl:dr childhood nostalgia bias, environment/aesthetic choices that couldn't carry over to the next game because it would be stale, and Him.
