We've had a bloody good giggle

This is an utterly delightful interview with Matthew Goode about The Duke and his role as defence barrister Jeremy Hutchinson QC (link to full interview ⬇️).

Matthew was so thoughtful and adorable and said lovely words 💝 about director Roger Michell (& husband of Anna Maxwell Martin), who very sadly subsequently passed away before the film's delayed UK release in Feb 22.

Roger was wonderful to work with and as Matthew summed it up, "we've had a bloody good giggle".

Also I really love Matthew's values "The only way to get something good out of people is... everyone's the same... you don't need a hierarchy system." A beautiful, kind soul, love him to bits (🙏 @estherdarling4 for the quote 🥰)

I would honestly love to know how the opening sketches for awards ceremonies get written and how long in advance they’re planned out, and then filmed.

David mentioned in a number of interviews including on The One Show on the weekend how he wasn’t concerned or nervous even though the interviewers tried to lead with those questions. So did they write this sketch in response to the line of questions? Or was the sketch written first and the questions were fed to the interviewers?

And I’m assuming David must have had some say in devising the opening sketch considering his absolute love of The Proclaimers and their inclusion in the opening.

Either way, I think opening with David and Georgia’s personas from Staged is still pretty funny. Love Brian Cox at the end telling him to just go get them!

Jim Broadbent

Physique: Average Build Height: 6’ 2" (1.88 m)

James Broadbent (born 24 May 1949-) is an English actor. A graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 1972, he came to prominence as a character actor for his many roles in film and television. He's received various accolades including an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards as well as nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Grammy Award. Notable film roles include Bullets Over Broadway (1994), Topsy-Turvy (1999), Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), Gangs of New York (2002), Another Year (2010), The Iron Lady (2011), Le Week-End (2013), and Brooklyn (2015).

Broadbent is kinda cute in glass, in a nerdy old dad kinda way, in something, but didn't blow me away. Later I saw him in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and thought Wow! And he has managed to become more and more adorable with each passing year.

Broadbent is married to costume designer-turned-artist and he is stepfather to her two grown-up sons. He is an atheist and is fond of wood carving. That last part is good to know as I've got a piece of wood I'd gladly let him handle. Hint. Hint. Its my penis.
