The Famicom/NES port of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord (the first game in the series) was co-developed and published by ASCII Entertainment (aka Nexoft) and released in 1987. Jun Suemi designed the monsters for this port and his illustrations grace the trading cards shown here (a partial set only). From my understanding, one random card was included when you bought the game in Japan.

Another thing that I found out about during my forced Tumblr absence was Wizardry: Proving grounds of the Mad Overlord getting a remake. The original released on the Apple II in 1981 (Last image)
I've never really gotten into Dungeon Crawlers but I like that they let you view the originals graphics over the new shiny polished update. (2nd image)
More info on RPGamer or take a more in depth look at the series on HG101

I FORGOT TO DO THIS WHOOPS
Nine people I'd like to get to know better
Last song: Honey Whiskey by Nothing But Thieves
Favorite color: I don't really have a consistent one... probably pink or red though?
Last movie/TV show: Jet Lag: The Game, Season 8 (racing across America)
Sweet/spicy/savory?: All, but probably savory?
Relationship status: Single, not really looking for anything
Last thing I googled: Camera jammer (don't ask)
Current obsession: Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord (it's a videogame remake of a 1980 game; i didn't play the original but i do play the 8th in the series that came out in 2001 extensively)
Tag Nine People: i don't have 9 BUT here we go!
@accirax @1moreff-creator @yunodidurmom @fearandloathinguniverse no pressure as always, only if you want to :)

CRPG Progress 2023
I just thought I’d write myself a list of games from the highly-recommended and free CRPG book I sometimes mention.
There is still a lot of stuff from that book that I want to play, as well as other games not mentioned in it.
Ideally I would play at least a little bit of everything on it for the best historical perspective, but in practice I find it difficult enough to finish just my existing backlog so I need to prioritize some things over others.
If a game is marked with a single exclamation mark, it means it sounds particularly interesting to me even beyond its historical significance and I want to try it for at least a couple of hours to see what it’s like.
If a game is marked with two exclamation marks, it means I have played some of it.
If a game is marked with three exclamation marks, it means I have played enough of it to have a reasonably solid idea of how it plays and all.
If a game is marked with four exclamation marks, it means I have reached the end credits or otherwise finished the game at least once.

みんなPS5(とそのソフト)買ってくれ!

As primitive as it is, a part of me genuinely wants to try the Apple II version of Wizardry 1 at some point.
It just has that old-school charm to it, and iirc there are actually some differences between it and every version that followed. Namely, the Apple II version was even harder.
