The way Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo (2021) would be much more enjoyable if it weren't based on real people...

#i don't mean it in the sense of 'oh i want to ignore that these awful things happened to real kids'#that is ABSOLUTELY not the case #but the show is SO removed from the real stories and gives the characters new backstories etc. so that they almost become fictional #and as the viewer i personally don't know how I am supposed to interact with these characters #i can't be a fan of them the way i am a fan of fictional people because they were real and I didn't know them #and therefore am unable to assess whether or not i'd actually like them #if that makes sense #like... fully fictional characters only exist on screen and we know everything about them. it's not the same with real people.#and because wkvbz doesn't know what it wants to be it becomes incredibly messy to figure out how to watch the show in a way #wir kinder vom bahnhof zoo

How did you like wkvbz?

Hey, I haven’t watched all of it yet. I watch it every friday with my best friend. We watched the first two episodes.

I liked it so far, I enjoyed watching Michi act and I think all of the six young actors are really great.

But I do think it’s heavy stuff and I would like to be a bit closer to the characters, feel more what they feel. I do find them compelling, and that is why I want to know more.

You can ask again in a few weeks and then I can probably tell you more.

I watched WKVBZ again right after finishing it. I wish they filmed it like skins/euphoria in that each character gets their own episode or full character development. And they could have gotten away with multiple seasons since it was meant to be “contemporary”
