Wanted to do something like this before the end of Pride Month, and I like seeing these two together; whether it's as really good friends or something more.

What if one of the first tribes collected hoards to attract mates or scare away other dragons from their territory or something and now all the tribes descendants from that one have instincts to hoard, usually whatever they're interested in. SkyWings and NightWings specifically. Peril hoards cool rocks that she can't burn. Starflight hoards scrolls. Sky wants to hoard critters but they keep leaving. Moon hoards taxidermy.

honestly maybe IceWings too just so I can have winter think he's weird for sitting on a pile of random trinkets and shiny things all day and then find out like Everyone does that and then he and Qibli sit on his pile of fidget toys and 3d puzzles and cool rocks (very common dragon thing) and stuff and watch the sunset. Qibli and Winter share a hoard of what the frick ever

She is just suuuuper sparkly bc they cant stop fawning over her polished healthy silvery scales hihihi/ the moonflowers are matching with Kinkajou and the bracelet is shared with her friends! btw in my head Moon was a normal size and chubby when she went to the academy, but i like to imagine her growing taller than winter and qibli after ehhehehe

One of my favorite retro Wings of Fire drawings to date. I’m especially happy with Moon’s design and pose. I can’t quite remember where the background came from—I want to say it was the Don Bluth Dragon’s Lair pitch, though it’s probably been edited a bit.

Call it my warrior cat artist instincts lmao but I wanted to try to give em markings that might have aided in naming them (bones for Deathbringer, stars for Starflight, crescents for Moon, etc)

the goal is to do all the jade winglet, but considering thats what i tried to do last year and it didnt pan out, so idk BUT ill be doing another redraw of some old OLD peril art bc i love her

also i listened to asgore's theme on repeat for the majority of this drawing and it just kinda fits

old version from 2024 ! you can tell this was really just a ref w basic shading

still pretty proud of it considering the art vibe change since then, tho ill admit to dulling moons design down a little as the teardrops are supposed to be her main stand-out feature

also !! if anyone wants a little tangent on my nightwing traits, lmk !!! i have each tribe w different traits and looks to differentiate them a little more from each other as opposed to canon where the i think the biological link between each tribe is just a little too close for them to accurately have formed different tribes/subspecies

Moon is the most relatable character in Wings of Fire because her friends were mad at her for one(1) minute, and she immediately gave up on life. She even thought that Turtle was literally about to murder her, and she didn't even care.

how would u redesign Moon

I actually made this a while ago, here's my Moon redesign!

Her design might be a little on the nose, but I have Moon a ton of moon-themed patterns and shapes, as well as a few odd stars! She's wearing Qibli's earring and a few other pieces of silver star jewelry, as well as a small pouch for odd trinkets. Additionally, I decided to make her well-muscled and very healthy compared to other nightwings of her age since she canonically had better access to food/water because she was born in the rainforest, and is described to be a good hunter. Her teardrop scale is obstructed by the glasses, but don't worry - I didn't forget!

A lot of this design is based purely off the vibe moon gives me... I always imagined her with a green color scheme and the glasses because it just felt right. I really love Moonwatcher. She grew on me a lot during my second time reading through the jade mountain arc, and tbh guys I wish she got with Kinkajou instead. No hate to the other ships!

Wof tribes redesign again!!!!! Ive been figuring out how to make them quadroped wingwalkers with malleable hands in a way that i like. I gave them pterosaur swag cause theyre my fav beasts.

Ancestral traits of my headcannon tribes

feathers, exterior ears, six limbs, beaks with teeth, wing walking, thumb knucklewalking

skywings- upright posture with long long limbs, lacking a wing thumb for a more aerodynamic build, reduced tail. They have the hottest fire and hunt aerial prey, they are highly mobile in the air.

Icewings- tallest tribe, black skin under feathers. Clear feathers, feathers on neck modified to form shiny/pearlescent spikes. They rattle when they move and they persist ant hunt large land prey.

Nightwings- Covered in iridescent star spots, have grooves on their patagium to facilitate silent flight (a la owl), and have fluff around their beaks. They have really good hearing.

rainwings- Standard posture has flexible neck folded, feathers and scales can change color. Small, elliptical wings allow for fast pursuit through thick forest but are not good for long distance flight. Short legs are better for climbing then running.

Mudwing- Has tusks that grow through the lower jaw and thick armor and osteoderms. Secondarily featherless and wallow to avoid sun damage. Sit and wait ambush predators, a la crocodile, squat posture means they are not efficient walkers.

Sandwing- Long limbs, mane down back with quill spines. dark skin to protect against sun damage, Ossicones! Grapple flying prey and immobilize them with their tail stingers.

Seawings- Largest dragons, thick webbed spines on back that can flatten down, short wings permit flight but are not efficient. Better at swimming then walking or flying. Barbles on face are sensory organs.

i plan on designing clothes for these things at some point
