Qibli's just always kind of known who he is, and has been like. pretty contentedly in his corner for a while. I think it's like- a pillar of stability for him of like "at least I know I'm (x)"

Proximity to Moonwatcher puts the they/them in there bc I think it's nice when ppl get more comfortable so they start branching out a lil bit :> Qibli has like. guy who says "he/they" because he doesn't mind they/them and wants his friends to feel supported y'know

Winter- he/him (cis + gnc)

Look I feel bad making him one of like. two cis ppl at JMA but like I think it's funny if he's cis but inflicts a status effect of gender envy on every trans person in his proximity

River Rework (Part 1)

Hello people!

While I am struggling to work in a good map, here we start with our problems.

Rivers of Pyrrhia are a nonsense, most of them.

I marked in the map with a red circle all the problematic rivers or water bodies.

These rivers are coming out of the nowhere!

We know that rivers usually start in mountain ranges, which is why all the rivers from Pyrrhia would basically start in the Jade Mountain range through its middle part.

The Mud and Rainforest Kingdom would basically have no rivers, since they are coming from... NOWHERE basically, and this literally ruins the whole point of having a rainforest or a swamp there.

Also, the big lake there. How does it exist? I once assumed it was by some heavy rain coming from the rainforest, but only rain can’t sustain a huge lake like this, it needed a river influx to work!

Up to the Sky Kingdom, there’s a lake that basically just exists, because there’s not a single water flux directed to it, but actually, OUT of it. While the northernmost river come out of nowhere.

The Great-Five Tails river between the Sand and Sky Kingdoms also make no sense. Where are the other rivers, gathering to the main one, coming from?

From the pure sand, I suppose.

Once I am done doing the map, I will work into a more believable hydrographic for the map, as my first goal here.

princess jojoba, sandwing, she/her

Jojoba I'd one of many siblings and in no way near the throne, thus she is carefree. She's also mama's favorite and they spend time together often. when not with her mother she is off watching races across the dunes and trading within markets. While Jojoba is outgoing and joyful she is haunted by the fact one of her sisters will kill their mother for the throne. She doesn't want to loose her mother and she knows she'll never very whoever does it the same.

Forestfire, skywing, he/him

Forestfire is a rather large firescales skywing. When he was born rumors and fear spread quickly. His parents paid an animus to make a rope, unable to be burned or broken, and tied it around their sons jaws to keep him from using his fire. They thought if he never used fire that the internal flame would just burn out and he'd become "normal". The rope did the opposite causing his flames to burn stronger and break through his scales to find some relief. The poor boy was then banished into the mountain and locked up for good. Forestfire now waits within the mountain growing angrier by the day waiting for a group of pseudo prophecy dragonets to stumble their way in and release him.

Art status: old ref, needs redo and will probably be removing the front horn it's a bit too hivewing

Fossil, mudwing, he/him

Fossil is a lost mudwing trying to find his family. He doesn't remember them but just has that gut feeling something is wrong. He is well liked within the mudwing villages and he drifts from troop to troop, feeling loved but not exactly fitting in

Wolfsbane, leafwing, he/him

A hired hand, will do anything for money kinda guy. He looks pretty intimidating so he hasn't really had to get violent on many of his jobs. Thinking of sticking this guy into my other mind au story

Queen Sonne and Queen sunset, skywing and silkwing, both she/her

Two queens I made for an rp a long time ago that sadly didn't work out. They do have full refs but they are on bases rn and need redone.

Queen sonne of the skywings is an older more serious queen, she is known for being harsh and no nonsense.

Queen sunset of the silkwings is a very young queen. She was her mothers only daughter and her mother sadly passed early. Sunset is under constant pressure from a group of nobles each trying to dictate laws to their own interest. Sunset is currently trying to find her voice and looks up to queen Sonne a lot.

So there's a handful of my own ocs ❤️ some need to to be reworked and refs re drawn but I still love them

Im so sick of trying to show my work in the wof fandom like 'heres a more realistic version of the dragons!" that i spent months reworking only to be told something like 'LMAO its just a kids book series, its not that deep' as of i haven't heard that all the time even from my own friends.

God its so tiring, try to start a scientific discussion regarding the moons? Not that deep, just a kids book. Try to come up with an explanation to hybridization? Not that deep, just a kids book. You'd think they'd look a little further and see the heaps of others saying that but no, everything has to be policed and nobody can have fun being even a tad bit scientific.

I just. I really love Peril in how she loves the people in her life. She's so full of the want to be loved and to love other people, she just has no language for it and is trying to learn but it's hard, and she has so much baggage and the want for it and the discomfort and fear she has for it is so. AUGHGHGH

and you have Sunny. who wants to love other people so badly but is so sick of having that conflated with weakness. You have someone who is full of optimism and kindness in despite of it all, goddamn it, but never enough room for her to be complicated and flawed or someone worth taking seriously. Who needs someone to love her without expecting her to be something she isn't and who loves her as a whole person who can be mad and hurt but who still chooses to be kind.

They're just such a choice pairing to me. People who need love in major ways and who fit together just right to bring each other that joy. ESPECIALLY when you don't disregard Peril's discomfort and jealousy towards Sunny !!! I want it to be uncomfortable !!! I want it to be strange !!!! I want them to love each other none the less by the end and see each other truly as they are and for that to be beautiful. I truly don't like Cleril bc it feels like Clay's in, honestly, denial (as a way to protect himself) for who Peril is- she's mean and loud and prone to violence and he makes excuses for that but he doesn't understand that it's part of who she is even when it can't be something she continues to be or do. I feel like Sunny is the only one I can see truly, really knowing Peril and coming out the other side still going "I love her." Not even bc any other Peril ships are bc they couldn't """appreciate""" her or something, but like. Tsunami has too many morals and her own self loathing to be able to accept Peril- she lashes out at things she doesn't understand or like. And Clay doesn't know how to reconcile violence with people he loves- he's distressed when bad things happen and he is genuinely a deeply unviolent person !!!!! Sunny's seen some real, real shit but if there's one thing to take away from her book, it's that she copes in her own way just like her siblings- but instead of how they choose to cope (thru focusing on loved ones, thru protecting loved ones, thru learning as much as they can, or thru keeping people at a distance), she does it through optimism. And this unfailing belief that people can choose to be good.

In my hypothetical WoF reworked Glory's name would have been 'Rain' at first. If the Guardians hated her why did they name her something as beautiful as Glory? It just doesn't make any sense to me. How did they even know how RainWings are named at all? They don't like her, but they have to name her something. She's a RainWing? 'Rain' it is.

Instead Rain would name herself Glory. Maybe after spitting on Scarlet, or maybe at the end of the Hidden Kingdom, after her arc to show how much she's grown.

Today in: Wings of Fire headcanons made to work with my oc even though the canon is different:

The Skywing Arena is used for whatever the Queen wishes, not just for fighting. Queen Firestorm used it for art and beauty shows. Queen Scarlet uses it for fighting, and Queen Ruby uses it for a hospital.  

While the Sky kingdom is big, most Skywings live close to the palace. All eggs are hatched in the palace hatchery, and all dragonets are raised in the wingery.   

Skywings kill any dragonets with Fire scales or Animus magic out of fear that said dragon will grow up to kill everyone, although this law is changing with Queen Ruby. The parents of said dragonets would never have anymore dragonets. They did not kill the dragonet with too little fire until Queen Scarlet's time.

Skywings believe in offering their dead to the sky for seven days before being burned, so that the dead dragon reincarnates as a Skywing and not any other kind of dragon.  

Skywings are very religious and have a preists who have a lot of power. There is a priest in each town and a high priest who is second only to the queen. The priests are chosen by the previous priests and receive ten years of training. The priests not only conduct religious rites, but are also judges, healers, scholars and teachers, and mediators between arguing dragons and towns. The priest is always female and unlike Sandwing priestess, can get married.    

In the past, before Queen Firestorm’s time, The Skywings had a ceremony called the Clash of Claws tournament. Every seven years, Skywings across the kingdom appeared from across the kingdom to compete in seven challenges over seven days. The first day is Flame, all qualities are tested, the next is Endurance, a token is left on top of the tallest mountain in the kingdom, and the contestants must race to find it starting from the palace. This tests speed, stamina, and resistance to the cold. The third test is strength, Skywings lift heavy boulders from the Diamond Spray River, fly as high as they can, and throw the boulder as far as they can. The fourth test is cunning, elaborate mazes are constructed with secret rooms filled with treasure, the competitors must find this treasure while avoiding the traps, the winner finds the most treasure. Five is the test of Guile, find a scavenger, the most cunning of prey, and bring it back alive and unharmed. Sixth is the test of Wit, each competitor must correctly answer a series of riddles made by the Queen and her advisors. Seventh is a test of speed, a race to see who is the fastest Skywing.     

Skywings can either choose a partner or go through a program to be matched up by the queen. Skywing marriages were traditionally two dragons saying a few ritual words in the sky, with no other dragon around. After Queen Scarlet took the throne, she made all weddings celebrations and all celebrations with deadly gladiator battles, so Skywings stopped getting married. The Skywings didn’t want Scarlet to partner them, so most Skywings stopped partnering up instead.  

While Noble Skywings don’t put much value into family, the more commoner Skywings do and are often close to each other even after moving out.

Neither common nor noble Skywings are very romantic and marriages are mostly for lineage and dragonets

@wof-reworked had a Skywing headcanon that each Skywing family had a particular naming system, like all being named after different types of birds. The dragonets are named using the mother’s family’s naming system.

Skywings are one of the more religious tribes, so their schools’ teachings include the Skywing religious beliefs and legends.

Skywings mostly marry for dragonets and political reasons in the case of nobility, so they are generally not interested in romance as a tribe. However, they are very close to their friends in a way that more romantic tribes like the Seawings and Sandwings mistake as romance.

Skywings tend to be close to each other, despite the size of the Kingdom, as all Skywings are raised in the Wingery until age 2, and all Skywing dragonets must go to the Sky palace between the ages of 4 and 8 for battle training.  

Since the Sky Kingdom is so big, every town has its own noble family that reports back to the queen. The leader of these noble houses is picked out by the old leader on their death bed, instead of fighting to the death like queens do. The leader is also always female.

I also really really really hate Sky. He’s ten times worse than the baby characters because he’s supposed to be an actual adult. He just screams fanservice meant to make you go “aw what a wholesome bean” and I cannot stand him.

I don't get how people can like him. He's like a baby character but infinitely worse because now it's not even the excuse of them being a toddler. Him being a grown adult, the brother of Peril no less, and acting like this is just grating. What's worse is that I can feel that he could've been better written. A dragon growing up outside of their society, never quite fitting into either scavenger or dragon society, is a neat concept. But instead we get the YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPES line. It feels like Tui just got chronically bored writing Dragonslayer (can't blame her) and made him so...childish to entertain herself?

I don't really quite fully understand why Tui likes writing baby characters so much. I mean, I myself really do enjoy my chaotic and wacky characters (especially villains), but I don't want to just shoehorn them in when it isn't beneficial to the plot at all. Baby characters are even more atrocious since, in WoF at least, are basically irrelevant to the story. Auklet was relevant via her egg and such, but any other one could be taken out of the narrative and, with some minor reworking, would be fine.

Sky is awful. I cannot see how you can find this character charming in the slightest. He's just...eughhhhh I hate him...
