Sandra Magnus

Sandra Magnus was born in 1964 in Belleville, Illinois. In 1996, Dr. Magnus was selected by NASA to become an astronaut. She flew multiple space missions, including a flight to the International Space Station in 2008, and the Space Shuttle's final mission in 2011. Dr. Magnus received the NASA Space Flight Medal and the NASA Exceptional Service Medal. She has served as Executive Director of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Chief Engineer for Advanced Capabilities at the Department of Defense. In 2022, Dr. Magnus was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.

also ✨women in stem✨ moment my torch came in the post for work and because my last name is super uncommon, to the point I was the only one on base with it, I got the torch engraved because why not and to tap into the barbie engineer baby moment, it’s pink 👹
Phahahaha not me getting excited over having to collect all the stuff for my first deployment it’s a full circle moment because I’m coming back a year to the day I left training for the first time 🥹
