Southbank Centre’s Women of the World Festival (President from 16.02.2015)
WOW is a festival where people of all ages and backgrounds can celebrate women’s achievements but also examine the obstacles that prevent them from achieving their full potential and contributing to the world.
The festival is bold and broad-based in its approach, both lively and serious, and feeds the demand to discuss anything and everything. It presents the very best of recognised and emerging female talent across all fields including politics, the arts, economics, fashion, science, health, sport, business and education, and is made up of keynotes, talks, debates, performances, gigs, free music, a marketplace, speed-mentoring, a crèche, exhibitions, workshops, networking opportunities and more.
“WOW recognises the resilience and inventiveness of women all over the world and I feel very proud to have been involved with it from its conception, here in London as well as abroad. Supporting the achievements of women – in all walks of life – is hugely important and WOW plays a vital role in bringing the right people together. It takes a frank look at the obstacles that prevent women and girls from reaching their potential and provides a platform for discussions of issues that really matter.”
