Sometimes you see blorbo enthusiasts and you just can't relate while you do the same for your blorbo.
This is about seeing people call Dean 'whore' like idk the emotions that inspire that but i do know the emotions that inspire me to call Sam a whore and ooo they are intense oooo they are rabid, i want that man to go through medieval slut shaming public punishment oooo, parade him naked and spit on him while calling him WHORE.

i'm not going to sit here and pretend that no interpretation of the show's male characters as women/ womencoded bother me, because a lot of times they do, especially when it's obvious that the person calling dean a mother thinks it's serious feminist praxis, but at the same time people do make good points about misogyny and womancoding and i think they should be allowed to make them, even if the fandom and medium itself has a misogyny problem. is calling sam a woman or saying he experiences misdirected misogyny revolutionary? absolutely not, you could even argue it's trendy in some circles. does that mean no one should ever address the treatment he gets from other characters on the show, any of the jokes and comments that the actors and crew made about him, how many male fans react to him? i think it's silly to pretend that those discussions are equally derivative and misogynistic as calling your favorite male character a lesbian while also refusing to acknowledge female characters on the show. and i think it's especially weird to criticize someone for calling sam womancoded when they came to that conclusion due to their own experiences with womanhood and discrimination. i just think there could be a more nuanced dialog about this rather than calling anyone who brings up gender and gendered language and gendered stereotypes for cis male characters bad.

The revolutionary shift of gender stereotypes within the industry throughout the years
In my last blog, I highlighted on the stereotypes in the programming industry. In this blog, I am going to talk about the incredible shift of gender stereotypes in programming. The whole concept seems incredible or insane if you think about it. Programming was considered to be a women’s job earlier. In the earlier days, People thought of programming as a “Women’s Job” as they thought it included minor physical work and all one does in programming is just move tiny bits and pieces from here and there. It was until later on that people realized how mentally draining it can be. One needs to have critical thinking ability, must master the art of multitasking, must be a fast learner and should have the ability to handle intense mental stress if you even want a shot at becoming a novice programmer. Eventually, they started the criteria of “Aptitude tests” for hiring the programmers. Men had a better chance of getting the job as they had more opportunities. However, in the case of women, they were either barred from attending schools or were not considered worthy enough for the jobs. And so the world witnessed the shift of the whole stereotype of programming. The whole stereotype changed from how it used to be a “Women’s job” to how it is a “Man’s job”. In 1960′s around 50% of programmers around the world were females. Fast forward to 2020, around 90-91% of programmers are male and it shows how far we have come or how low we have stooped really. It shows the gender domination in our society, highlighting how women don’t even get a good enough chance to succeed in the field. On top of that they have to deal with sexual harassment and sexist injustice of fellow colleagues. The perfect analogy of this is the novel “VOX” by Christina Delcher, where people live in a society where women can speak a limited number of words everyday and at a certain point in the novel, two characters have intercourse and the girl is the only one who faces the consequences. This is the similar situation we have in today’s day and age. Women don’t have enough opportunities to make themselves heard. They are the ones who suffer consequences because of other men’s deeds.  People need to break the stereotype of “Women can’t code” or “Women can’t code better than men”. It is a fact that women can code and they can excel in the field and even surpass men in the field. So, the question arises in this so called Man’s world, Will women ever find a place where they will be equal? Will they ever have enough opportunities to work in an environment where they can work in peace, make mistakes without consequences, get a fair chance and can actually achieve their dream of becoming a coder? It still isn’t too late. People should analyze history and learn how women are the ones who deserve the glory and it is their time to take the crown that has been taken away from them. In fact, it is their crown and it wasn’t meant to fit men. It is theirs by right!

New quarter!
Started at OSU’s post bacc program and I sometimes feel that I’m drowning and I know nothing. Currently taking these courses:
Introduction to Usability Engineering
Data Structures
Web development
Parallel Programming
I also had my first hacker rank sent to me by Snowflake and that was a disaster :) My hacker rank was 3 question 90 minutes and I had 1 leetcode easy question and 2 hard ones. I will go cry myself to sleep now :D

I've been seeing posts about woman-coded sam that have irked me and you basically put into words all of my thoughts on the matter better than i ever could have. Like if they think it's silly or just don't agree, sure. But there are some pretty stark ways that sam is demeaned by the narrative, other characters, and fandom in general, and it seems fair to be able to put a name to that theme without being labelled problematic in some way.
right, others have pointed this out too but analysis of sam's womancoding predates the current trend of comparing fictional men to women, so i feel like completely conflating the two is inaccurate, even if there is overlap. and i'm not saying the more "serious" womencoding discussions are without fail either, for example there are enough people who believe that any character who experiences sexual violence must be womanly somehow, implying that something like rape would never happen to men, which is obviously untrue. i just personally think it is unnecessarily restrictive to brush off any writing that compares the way fictional male characters are written and received to how real gender stereotypes are thought of, how other fictional works deal with female characters, and how misogyny plays into it all. i have read really interesting points about this from people i respect a lot, and while i don't think it should ever be compared to actual feminist work that helps analyze and dismantle sexist stereotypes i do think it's a discussion worth existing, even if it is just inconsequential media analysis on tumblr. though i have to mention that i would probably have a different view on all of this if i didn't know anything about sam/ supernatural as a whole, or this was done with a show that actually had a female main character, and i generally don't blame people for feeling annoyed or put off by the whole thing.

hey guys . sorry for seeing an unrelated post on the dash and immediately making it about my little guys again
[id 1: a t chart meme format with the left side labeled "people who think whizzer is trans", and the right side labeled "people who think mendel is trans". Underneath the left title is a cropped picture of whizzer brown standing at the baseball game, surrounded by large paragraphs of indecipherable text, implying that there are many reasons in the story canon for someone to believe that he is trans. Under the right title is a picture of mendel during everyone hates his parents. This is simply captioned, "look at him".
id 2: a cropped version of the above meme so it only shows one side of the t chart. the title now says 'people who think marvin is trans'. underneath is a picture of marvin during marvin at the psychiatrist, which is captioned 'womencoded'. /end id]
