You heard someone calling your name. When you turned around, you saw Kabukimono running towards you, he was wearing different clothes from his regular silky ones. Not only that but he and his clothes were very dirty. -“Kabu-chan?! What happened?!” you asked, already taking your handkerchief  to scrub the dirt from his face. -“(Y/n)! Today Nagamasa-san teached me how to use sword! From now on I’ll be able to protect you and others!” Kabukimono looked so proud of himself, his face was adorned with big smile. “I still have to train everyday and I wanted to ask…” his cheeks became slightly red. “..Would you… would you come sometimes to watch my training?” He was avoiding eye contact with you and you couldn’t help but think how adorable he looked right now. -”Of course I will! Tomorrow, when I finish my work, I’ll came to watch you, alright?” You smiled to him, scrubbing the last dirt from his lovely face. The boy nodded, feeling very happy, he can’t really wait to impress you tomorrow. His smile grew wider and you couldn't help but think about kissing him on the cheek and you did. You kissed his right cheek and suddenly you realize what you did and took step back from him. -“I’m so sorry, Kabu-chan! I don’t know why I… Did I make you uncomfortable?” you asked, watching him as he placed his hand on cheek that you kissed. He never felt this way before but it wasn’t a bad feeling, no, he was feeling so warm inside. -“What was it?” he asked, he was surprised but at the same time he felt excitement. -“Um..that was a kiss-” -“Can you do that again?” you were shocked with his bold request but then smiled and kissed his another cheek, then forehead and then the nose. The puppet’s face blushed, it was his first time to feel being loved like that by another person.

 The 6th Harbinger was lying on the lab table. You were terrified of what The Doctor did to his fellow comrade. -“I know this is not your job but clean this mess. I lost my last assistant  and you..hm.. you don’t really have anything better to do anyway, right?” Dottore grinned. -“Lord Dottore but what should I do with-“ -“Just leave him be, his flesh and skin will regenerate itself.” With that said, the 2nd Harbinger left you with unconscious Scaramouche in the room. You do have work, there are still soldiers that you have to take care of, but you can’t refuse a Harbinger command, after all you’re just a healer. -“How cruel…” you only heard rumors of sick things the 2nd Harbinger have done to his assistants and agents but until now, you didn't truly believed the rumors. How can anyone treat living beings like this?! The first thing you did, was to take chains off from Scaramouche’s wrists, not caring about substance, that looked almost like blood on table and floor. Suddenly he grabbed your wrist, he was now looking at you. -“Do…t… to….me..” You couldn't understand what he was saying. -“Lord Balladeer, please forgive me, I just wanted to take off this from Lord’s wrists.” He let you go, you were not sure if he did that to let you take them off or because he didn't have strength left. You took the chains off, then you looked at him, his eyes were so empty. -“ Lord Balladeer, maybe at least I should-“ -“k..t…e..” he whispered. -“I’m truly sorry Lord but I couldn’t hear you.” His eyes met yours. -“Don..t… lo…ok… at…me…” You didn’t know what to do. Normal human wouldn’t be able to survive whatever the Doctor did to him. You couldn’t just leave him like this, but what can you do for him? He is in such bad state that you can see clearly the lack of heart in his chest. -“Hu..rts…e…ve..ry….thi…g….hu..s..” he mumbled. -“…” you took his hand in yours, he jolted for second from sudden touch but didn't take his hand from yours. “I will stay with you my Lord, until you recover. I’m truly sorry, that I can’t take your pain away but if there’s anything I can do for you, just tell me.” He didn't reply. You wondered if he lost consciousness again. You placed delicate kiss on his hand, the tears flowed from his eyes. For the first time he felt a bit of warmth in this cold nation.

-“Oh isn’t it Hat Guy? Hello!” you smiled to Wanderer, who grimaced after hearing you call him by that ‘name’ too. -“Why are you calling me like that?” -“Hm? You’re the one who went with that name on The Akademiya Extravaganza, aren’t you?” you tilted your head, confused why he seems to be angry for calling him that. -“It was-- … never mind. Just don’t call me that.” He said, not looking at you. You smiled coming to him closer. -“So…do you have any plans for today?” -“Hmpf, I know this is not what you really wanted to ask me. Just tell me already what you want.” -“Okay! Okay! Remember those students that dragged us to their cooking interest group? I’m going to join them again! Would you like to jo-“ -“No.” Wanderer said, turning around like he’s ready to just leave you. You caught his sleeve. -“Don't be like that! You’re really good at cooking! And it was fun to co-“ -“You didn’t cook anything, I was the one who made all the dishes.” He interrupted you again, still with his back turned toward you. -“Stop interrupting me-!” you pouted, puffing your cheeks. -“Just deal with it.” He smirked -“Why you! Please! I love your cooking! The food you made was so delicious! Please!! I want to eat it again! Please!” now you were holding onto his arm. The puppet sighed, he can’t believe that for some reason he doesn’t mind when you touch him.   -“Consider yourself lucky, that I don’t have anything better to do.” -“So you mean-“ -“Let’s just go.” He started walking. You smiled, glad that you can spend some more time with him. You ran in front of him, stopping him in his track. -“I knew it that you’re not that bad!” -“You’re naive if you think that I-“ before he could finish his sentence you kissed his cheek. Then you just smiled and ran off screaming -“I’m going to eat Hat Guy's delicious dishes again!” Wanderer was stunned, then he put his hand on his red cheek you kissed, he was feeling warm. He quickly noticed that you already left Sumeru City. -“That idiot…” he smiled and he ran after you.

e.g. if one of the harbingers is thinking about something that scara had done theyll be like 'oh the sixth did that. hold on a second who the fuck is the sixth?? it was (insert whoever irminsul decided to patch the blank with)'

but the person that irminsul patches the blank with wont have any memories of having done that thing. it will be blank, there will be no time slot in their memory for that action. but its a fact that everybody knows. they did that thing.

it gets even fuckier when its people whos lives have been severely impacted by scaramouche. like how does a scara-less dotorre manage to make his clones?? how is irminsul patching an entire person missing that made niwa, katsuragi and nagamasa work together and form a stronger bond?? is dotorre just missing 300-400 years of experimenting on the same person?? does irminsul patch it with 'oh yeah you were just like helping the akademia make a god' but dottore wouldnt have had a reason to work with the akademia without already having experimented on scara. dottore hated the akademia at that point, why would he work with them?? do the people murdered by kunikuzushi remember only seeing a mysterious figure kill them?? does that child remember a person taking care of them in the months-weeks-days leading up to their death?? does the tsaritsa ever wonder why she has allowed the sixth seat to stay empty even though she has taken in new harbingers??

[Genshin] Thoughts on 3.3's Archon Quest, Inversion of Genesis

Overall thoughts, I liked it a lot!! I went into this expecting the Therapy Arc (tm) and while we did get that, I did not expect things to play out the way they did. I really enjoyed it though, and I think there's a lot to be said in the execution about how trauma affects people (but more on that later).

Starting off, it seems like Scaramouche has chilled tf out considerably from the end of the 3.2 quest, probably a side effect from dropping 50 feet headfirst into concrete and then waking up to find out he's been fired. Nahida once again proves she's best girl in the first five minutes of the quest -- she's kind yet pragmatic, harboring Scaramouche while also putting him to use, and giving him a huge piece of a puzzle he's been missing.

I do wish we could have seen more of Niwa and Nagamasa's relationship with Scaramouche, though. It would've made the subsequent scenes hit so much harder.

Dottore putting Niwa's actual heart into the device was really surprising. I guess it served to further convince Scaramouche of Niwa's betrayal?

Scaramouche's info about our sibling is also very interesting. 👀 We know beforehand that after crash landing on Teyvat, the abyss twin woke up and saw Khaenri'ah being destroyed. This tracks with what Scaramouche tells us, that Khaenri'ah was our twin's "first destination after arriving to this world." I thought that that meant our twin just saw the destruction and chaos raining down immediately and left, but I guess they must have stayed in Khaenri'ah for a while if Pierro remembers them. (Gee, thanks for leaving us at the crash zone for days?? Weeks? 💀)

I'm not sure what is meant by "Plus, [the Abyss Twin] only came to this world because the heavens responded to the summoning." The twins "crash landed" on Teyvat twice -- is Scaramouche talking about the first time, or the second? I guess the second would make more sense, since the "heavens responding" could be the Unknown God trapping us, but in that case, what about the first time we crash landed? Also, what summoning are they talking about? Nahida mentioned that if she destroyed a Gnosis, the Heavenly Principles might respond... was the Cataclysm the result of something similar happening?

Anyways, after that lore drop, Scaramouche tries to undo his existence to give his old friends a second chance at life. ;-; All of his anger at the world was a result of the "betrayals" he lived through, so to find out that Niwa never betrayed him at all... I wonder how much of his decision was him wanting to do right by Niwa and the others, and how much of it was him wanting to just disappear from the world. D:

It's a little strange that Nahida tells us to wait things out in a random hotel after all that, but I guess she wants to make sure we're set up with accommodations...? xD

I really am starting to like the traveler and Paimon's interactions more and more. Honestly, I don't remember much of them prior to the 3.0 archon quest, but I appreciate how much the traveler thinks of Paimon's well being ("the truth might be very distressing for Paimon...") and how much Paimon tries to cheer us up, or change the topic when she senses the traveler is feeling down. :D

(It's also pretty cute, and classic Paimon how she lists off her favorite foods to try and take her mind off things LOL)

The next couple of scenes take place in Inazuma -- I can't remember if we've traveled to different nations during archon quests before, but it's a nice change of pace, and makes complete sense with what's going on. I appreciate the knowledge that the "new Kazuha" is the same one we've known ;u;

I was really excited when I saw that the prerequisite for this archon quest was Kazuha's story quest, because I thought that he might appear here. Oh well. 😔

Nahida's way of storing information in an abstract fairytale was very clever. I wonder if she does this with other things as well?

The fairytale itself is very cute, but I did find myself laughing at the last scene with Scara's angry kitten eyes lol.

The most interesting thing about the fairy tale, however, is the monster that represents "Dottore." Since Dottore was "Zandik" before, I guess the "monster" part is Dottore seeing himself as different/worse than other people? Anyways, if we take the fairytale at face value it means that he tried to live amongst other people for a while, but still hated himself for being a monster, and hated others for not being able to see it.

In the fairytale's version of events, Dottore sees Scaramouche getting along with the foxes, and gets pissed off. In reality, Dottore had already joined the Fatui at that point. Did something similar happen to Dottore in the past, though? The Feather of the Pale Flame set mentions that he was chased away from his hometown, which doesn't really give enough detail.

I doubt we'll get these answers for a long time, probably not until Dottore becomes playable.

In the next couple of scenes, we see Wanderer! Throughout this archon quest so far, I'm thinking that we'll undo the damage Scaramouche caused and give him proper therapy (tm) or something that kickstarts the costume change. It was after our conversation with Nahida, seeing that she wasn't aware of Scaramouche before we told her that I realized that this change would be permanent. I have mixed feelings about this, although most of them are positive (but more on this later!!)

Wanderer is... really good-natured. He works without pay, just because the shopkeeper let him shelter from the rain once. At some point though, when we're trying to convince him to come with us, it seems like he has a flash of insight? It wasn't brought up again, but after that, it seemed like his personality changed a bit... I'm still confused about what that was, lol.

After that, we journey through memory lane. I really like the change in direction when it comes to trial combat in stories. Before, it felt a bit contrived, like the story was just finding reasons for us to enter a dungeon with that story character. (Don't even get me started on Eula's dumbass story quest.)

This felt really natural, though, and IIRC Nilou's story quest didn't even have a real dungeon (just a small scene where she beat off some enemies). I prefer this vastly to having a mediocre or poor story + a proper dungeon.

Back to the fight, Paimon's "Hey! Are you done yet!?" to Wanderer as he was having a mental breakdown had me in tears 💀💀

I loved the scene of him grabbing his past self's hand, as well as his past self holding onto his hand. He speedran Fischl's whole Persona 4 sequence and did it in the nick of time 🥇

He wasn't able to reach that distant light he saw, but in the end, by accepting his past self -- Scaramouche's anger and grief and wrongdoings, he created his own light, and in turn, received an Anemo vision. (Does that mean, then, that Anemo visions are given out when people are able to accept their circumstances? Or is it still something else? Vision discourse has been a thing since the start of this game and all of the explanations I've seen or come up with have felt "sort of right, but missing something still." I can't wait til we get the answers to these questions, if ever)

And after all that, at journey's end... our gremlin (tm) has returned. 🎉

...He even lets us choose his new name! I like how for certain names, he rejects them outright lol. (His reaction was kind of muted though lol, I was expecting a little more than "You can't be serious 😑")

After I spent 140 pulls on him to bring him home, I was all for calling him Scaradouche, but in the end I settled on... Tsutsuji.

I have a lot (tm) of feelings about Wanderer's story. I'm sad that Kazuha no longer has as strong of a reason to show up where Scaramouche does (more best boi content is always welcome thank u), I'm happy that Wanderer and Nahida are now canon buddies/coworkers, and I'm apprehensive and curious because WHAT WAS THAT ENDING WHO WAS THAT???

One of the more prominent feelings I have about Scara's story is a deep sense of sadness. Scaramouche could not accept who he was, and erased himself as a result. However, Wanderer, a completely different person at that point, was able to accept Scaramouche.

While it's definitely not a 1:1 comparison, I'm reminded of a story I read years ago, "Star Lover."

For such a short story, a lot of things happen in it -- but the part I'm most concerned with here is the idea that to truly recover from past trauma, it had to have never happened at all.

Tsutsuji, one of the main characters in "Star Lover," embodies this idea, which is where the name comes from.

Would things have been better for Scaramouche he sat down and worked through his issues, instead of "running away" to become a completely different person? It's hard to say. After all, it was only through Wanderer that he's eventually able to come to terms with his past.

In real life, people try to find meaning in their trials, purpose in their trauma. Weighed down by emotions, they push their way through creeping ivy and waist-high water. There's an ingrained philosophy that "trauma is an opportunity to come out stronger."

To be clear, this is not a bad philosophy. In fact, it's the only way many people have to move forward.

But... what if you never had to experience that past trauma at all? What if you could just undo it?

Neither Scaramouche nor Tsutsuji waded through a bog of their past trauma. In Scaramouche's case, Wanderer was able to do it for him. In Tsutsuji's case, it was like it had never happened at all.

If only we could do the same in real life.

Other Random Thoughts:

The "Inner Irminsul" area was beautiful. I remember thinking before that Sumeru was going to be very nature-focused, seeing as it was the land of dendro, but I am really really digging the added high-tech aspect as well, from the story to the landscapes.

After seeing Niwa's death, Scaramouche mockingly asks if we're actually worried about him. He says something similar in the previous archon quest ("hmph, those words make you sound like a friend who actually cares.") little shit

I counted three Lumine "wtf !!!" faces this quest

"The wisest leaders are fated to end up with the best helpers" ASDFGHJKL; INJECT THE SCARA NAHIDA FRIENDS/SIBLINGS CANON STRAIGHT INTO MY VEINS

I really loved this quote as well: "The past is set in stone, but you can keep moving on. And the longer your future lasts, the shorter your past will become, until one day it is but a tiny fraction of your life." ;-; Nahida best girl

While the quote is uplifting, it's also quite bittersweet... what if you want to hold onto your past self? Plus something something passage of time becomes faster the longer you've lived. Someone like Zhongli would probably be pained when reminded of this quote/truth.

The last part of this story reminded me of No Way Home, a little bit. But while I hated No Way Home, I loved this. I think for NWH I was too sad about Peter losing literally everyone who knew and loved him?? For Scaramouche lmao it's not like anyone loved the Balladeer (except for Niwa and the others hrngggg). Poor Niwa, it's not like things really matter anyways because he's dead but there's something so sad about Wanderer feeling so guilty and sad about his friend's death, whereas Niwa in this new reality doesn't even know who he is.

Ik I mentioned this before but who ???? is the voice at the end? I'm so excited and curious to find out more about them, and about what it means for the story as a whole.

"Fate is called as such, for it cannot be changed, nor can it be reversed. It can only but be accepted." <- This quest really ended up being a textbook example of what Mona says, huh. I guess this is also related to what the mysterious voice said at the end? That things can't really be changed in Teyvat.

I wonder if that gives the Teyvat simulation theory more credit... aaaaa it's all so interesting

Also, what if information was rewritten in Irminsul before? Nothing enormous events-wise could have been changed (unless the people who make the "rules" that nothing big can be changed ARE the ones who rewrote something) but it's still interesting and kind of frightening to think about!

What if Irminsul was rewritten more than twice and we weren't around to witness it, meaning that what's done is done. It's not like it really matters, because it's a video game, but... well. If it ever comes up, it'll be an important story reason, but we likely won't get the whole story about what happened in the "past"/alternate world. Even though it's just a game, it's exciting and scary, to think of the interesting stories we could have seen, but wouldn't be able to.

The history of daishō sword pairings from oldest to latest is (1) tachi and tantō, (2) katana and wakizashi, and (3) short and long katana. So three generations worth if we instead have each smith their own daishō. There’s more on the topic but it was rather expensive for a samurai to have a daishō forged by the same sword smith so it’s very much a status symbol (and spiritual as swords in general are believed to fend off evil spirits). There’s good info for brainrots.

Niwa has the unawakened potential of a main character. I have spoken it into existence. Anyway, if neither Kazuha nor Scara ended up with the swords, they could be the rewards on a hidden quest. A branch from the Tatara Tales one. And having the swords during the festival will summon the yokai spirits. Scara would forge a katana and wakizashi for his proposal to puppet reader. Kazuha will probably forge if or when he proposes.

Speaking of modern au, I was watching more on sword smithing to try and most of the smiths couldn’t live on the salary of only smithing swords. However, as the number of smiths dwindle, the prices will increase as quality, art, and culture factor into those high prices. I did play with the idea that Scara was adopted by Niwa and reader when he was a child.

Niwa’s lover dies no matter what path we take so dumping more trauma is fine. It’s for Scara’s character development! And he has to get his third betrayal anyway. Oh, after becoming the Wanderer with all his memories, he may have gone back to Tatarasuna to make a grave for Niwa and reader. Pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to find their remains for a proper burial (excluding the route where reader married into the Kaedehara clan).

Ohhhhhhh okay okay, so tanto for Niwa's lover, wakizashi for kintsugi, and short katana for Kazuha although iirc he did get a sword from his story quest - either way I like to imagine his partner to be a sword user who can actually fight by his side. With that in mind, I wonder if besides the proposal and protection, they offer these swords too as an oath to vanquish their evil if they act up -

Like "I trust you with this sword in my presence and to use it against me when I become irredeemable" kind of love, the trust and death do us part

I got the blueprint of the Nagamasa in Tatarasuna so it would most likely be there. Or maybe they can find a story about Niwa's proposal forge and use that as basis for their forging in the future too! Either way, it sounds nice, especially Kazuha when he forges his own like he's embracing his family's tradition again and accepting his name thru that

Also yes, I approve the adoption because that's how I would set up Kintsugi modern. I wonder if that could be Wanderer's story quest, meeting him in Tatarasuna and seeing him set up the graves, maybe his story quest would be him talking about Niwa and his lover huehue

Between Niwa and Mikoshi's squabbling, there were moments that kept them sane by just your voice alone. Even when they were ready to duel with swords to establish a point, you were always there to talk it down and find middle ground ; now it's your job to take care of everyone, to keep sense within Nagamasa, to raise his son ...

        Hoshi ... Oh, sweet, Hoshi ; you'll grow up without a father, a trial that he'd never wanted you to experience. One of the hardest moments of his life had been deciding to enter the furnace to take responsibility for what had transpired. Perhaps never physical, perhaps metaphorical meant nothing, but your heart existed and it beat louder than the whole of Inazuma's together. He's sorry. "Oh... you're leaving already?" Was it something he said? Something he did? Kabukimono has to wonder.

Kabukimono learned that this man's name was Dainsleif and the reason he found him injured that one night in the storm was because he was attacked by monsters, which he had assumed as much. He was able to tell he wasn't human right away or at least... not the human his family is, but there was an aura to him that Kabukimono really liked and made him not fret in approaching him. To nobody's surprise it just took him but a month to recover from his injuries, recovering from those fatal injuries should have taken longer but again... this guy wasn't normal. Kabukimono told his family about Dainsleif and they also welcomed him with open arms and was welcomed to stay as long as he wanted, he wasn't sure what made him believe he'd take that offer. He did feel like a wayward soul from the start. Perhaps, quietly and in secret at least, Kabukimono hoped that he'd take the offer. His family kept saying how happy he seemed to have been to have found a new friend. Friend, what's that? He had asked. Katsuragi said it's a bond that one forms with someone where the affection is mutual, foundation of it being the care one holds for the other, similar to the like of family. Kabukimono had slowly nodded his head then, but then asked what the word foundation meant and Katsuragi had let out a sigh of defeat.

Initially Kabukimono was able to check up on Dainsleif quite often and be around him the first couple of days, but that changed when some engineer from Fontaine arrived, he promised his family a sense of glory, especially in the smithing arts with machines and mechanisms from the land of justice... it made Kabukimono curious of how Fontaine was like. A lot of the people in Tatarasuna began to get sick, so much of his family falling ill, some even driven mad and Kabukimono was gone most of the time sinse to try to help in whatever that he could. Niwa, Nagamasa, and Katsuragi were different... they weren't happy, it made Kabukimono feel uncomfortable, this knot inside his chest that kept tightening and tightening, that's really the only way he could describe it. He's not sure what to call the feeling. In situations like these he'd go to his family for counsel, but even he can tell right now was not the appropriate time for that, so he didn't. He let that feeling brew and in its brewing he began to wonder if Dainsleif was okay, so he came to check on him and, but for a brief moment, was quite happy to see that he healed completely, walking outside of the little house Kabukimono would call his home. And again... him leaving didn't cross his mind, until the words came out of his very own mouth.

Is he leaving because his family is sick? No, that can't be it. "... Y-You're welcomed to stay you know?" He repeats the words Nagamasa had said then, albeit a bit more awkwardly. It's an invitation, can't he tell? Apparently he can, claims he needs to be going elsewhere and that makes Kabukimono nod his head. "Oh, okay, I understand. You too have family to go back to." He assumes ignorantly. Maybe his family is also not doing very well and he needs to go take care of them. That makes sense then. "Well, I hope they're well." Kabukimono smiles, nodding his head. He can't say it wasn't a pleasure to meet him, even if he is a bit strange. Really? Should he really be the one to deem who's strange and who isn't? "You'll be missed Dainsleif." He also adds before the other brings out a strange looking flower that Kabukimono has never seen in Inazuma before. He blinks at it in wonder, stares at it for a moment before slowly reaching out for it. He carefully holds it by its stem and brings it forth, inspecting it more closer to verify that he's really not seen this type of flower before. It's so ethereal, pretty and beautiful, but... there's something solemn about it as well. He wonders why he gets that feeling. "For me?" A gift from Dainsleif to him? It makes Kabukimono's smile wider, more sincere, almost like he's completely forgetting this is a farewell gift when he knows that all too well. "I'll take good care of it, thank you." He expresses his manners as he was taught by his family to do so. He won't let this flower die.

"Come visit us again one day, okay?" Maybe this goodbye can be temporary.

Kunikuzushi/Scaramouche/Wanderer x Nuo(OC) - A Gentle Soul {Part 1}

(Nuo is my kitsune OC. She was abandoned not long after her birth in a forest in Inazuma. A visiting Liyue man found her and gave her a name. He raised her for 20 years before handing her over to the Shogun and then from there she went to the shrine. Hope you enjoy this 3 part fic.)

“Please don’t kill him!” The young kitsune exclaimed, shielding the puppet Ei had made and gave to them. “He hasn’t had a chance to find out who he is and what he will do for this world. Let him have a chance. Let him wake up.”

“Hm? And you’ll take responsibility for anything that may happen, correct?” Yae hummed as she eyes the sleeping puppet on the ground.

“Yes. If something happens I’ll take responsibility. I’ll take the punishments.” Nuo sighs as Yae walks away, putting her arms down and sitting where she was standing. “It’s okay, Kunikuzushi… I’ll protect you…”

Nuo laid beside him, brushing a hand through his hair. She looked at his sleeping face and saw tears slip down his cheeks. She frowned and gently wiped them away with the pad of her thumb.

“You’re so beautiful, Kunikuzushi… I hope to meet you officially soon.” She wrapped her arms around him, falling asleep as she held him close.

In the morning, Nuo opened her eyes to find violet ones staring back at her. Her green eyes widened and she released the boy in front of her. She went to move back and fell off the cushion he had been asleep on, landing on her head; more specifically one of her ears.

“Ow…” She rubbed the fluffy ear. “I’m sorry.”

“You protected me. You are very kind.” Kunikuzushi spoke, smiling ever so slightly as he moved to the edge of the bed, bare feet hitting the floor as he stood.

“Ah, well…” She smiled and stood up, smoothing out her kimono. “You seemed like someone worth protecting. So gentle and beautiful. I can’t let them hurt you when you’ve done nothing wrong.”

Kunikuzushi placed a hand over his chest, a pressure building there as he looked at the kitsune girl in front of him. This feeling felt like something eating away at his insides, but also something so warm and pure. He smiled and approached her, pulling her into a hug.

“Thank you…” He spoke softly, his voice ringing in her head as she felt her heart pound slightly at his affection.

Nuo held him close, smiling as she rested her head against his. She pulled back after a moment and looked at him, smiling as he looked her over with curiosity.

“What’s your name?” He asked, eyes meeting with hers again.

“Nuo. I was named by a visiting Liyue man who found me when I was born and left alone. That was before Yae took me in.” Nuo hummed a bit as she held her hand out to him. “Would you like a tour of the shrine and the city?”

Kunikuzushi nodded, smiling as he took her hand. He squeezed her hand gently, following her as she gently tugged to guide him. Once he saw the Sakura blooms around him his eyes shined with wonder at the lovely sight. He smiled and squeezed Nuo’s hand tighter. Nuo smiled and laced her fingers with his as they watched petals fall around them.

“It’s beautiful…” Kunikuzushi breathed out as he took in the world around him.

“It is. Just like you.” Nuo smiled, giving his hand a little squeeze as she turned to look at him.

He was smiling and her heart was racing at the lovely sight. It’s quickly become her favorite thing to see. Such a gentle face and beautiful smile. She was slowly falling in love with the creation of her god yet she didn’t know it.

“Let’s walk down the mountain.” Nuo spoke softly, beginning to walk again with Kunikuzushi’s hand squeezing hers back.

“Okay. Lead the way.” He spoke softly, smiling as the two walked off, Nuo telling him about humans and emotions as they went towards the base of the mountain.

After a tour around the city and Kunikuzushi making a friend in a local man in the Nagamasa group named Katsuragi. Kunikuzushi was very happy to have made a friend in this human, telling him he’d be back soon to see him again. The two ended up renting a room at an inn within the city as opposed to returning to the shrine. Kunikuzushi did not wish to meet Yae as she had initially wished for his demise.

“Did you enjoy your day?” Nuo asked, smiling as the two made the room a bit more comfortable. “I’m glad to see you easily making friends with the people of Inazuma.”

Kunikuzushi smiled and sat on the futon, watching Nuo cook herself a meal.

“It was a pleasant experience. I’m glad you were there with me.” Kunikuzushi gave Nuo a gentle, loving smile. “You’re very special. I hope you know that.”

Nuo’s cheeks flushed red, the smile on her face small yet oh so beautiful in the eyes of Kunikuzushi. He watched her make two bowls of unagi chazuke. She approached him and sat in front of him.

“I need to teach you to use chopsticks.” She giggles as she sets hers across the top of her bowl before handing a pair to him. “Follow my hand instructions.”

Nuo moved his hand to hold the sticks properly, instructing him on how to pick up food with them. Kunikuzushi attempted to do so and dropped the rice right back in the bowl. Nuo giggled and shook her head, lifting her own bowl and using her chopsticks to pick up a bit of rice.

“Like this.” She said before placing the food in her mouth, smiling.

Kunikuzushi followed her instructions and this time managed to get the food in his mouth. His face lit up at the flavor. Being new to food and experiences in general he hummed in content at the taste of Nuo’s cooking.

“Do you like it?” Nuo asked before taking another bite.

“I do. It’s wonderful, thank you.” Kunikuzushi smiled as he ate the food in front of him.

Nuo smiles as she continued eating her food, Kunikuzushi eating at quite a quick pace. She let out a soft giggle as she watched him finish his bowl.

“You like it?” Nuo asked once finishing her own.

Kunikuzushi looked at her and nodded, smiling a bit.

“I did, thank you. This day with you has been the best in my short lifespan.” Kunikuzushi laid down on the futon and rolled to the edge, holding a hand out to her. “Lay with me?”

Nuo’s ears twitched at the offer, her cheeks beating up a bit as she smiled.

“Of course. Give me a moment.” Nuo spoke softly, cleaning the bowls and laying beside him.

“Thank you, Nuo… Please never leave me…” Kunikuzushi asked, arms around her and holding her tightly.

“I can’t promise that, Kuni. I don’t want to break a promise to you so I cannot promise that.” Nuo closed her eyes, arms around him. “But I can say I’ll try my best. If you decide to leave and go off on your own then I shall let you. I can’t go with you if you do. I have duties to the shrine and to the Shogun.”

Kunikuzushi’s eyebrows furrowed at hearing his mothers other name. He chose to ignore the pit in his stomach at the mention of her name in favor of looking at Nuo’s face. Her green eyes now closed with lashes kissing her cheeks, green hair falling in her face as her ears tucked back behind her head, the way the nightgown she wore hung off of her form loosely. All these things made Kunikuzushi feel those same emotions he didn’t understand from before. He placed a hand gently down on her hip before wrapping both arms back around her waist, pulling her close.

“Thank you…” He whispered, thinking of his plans for the future.

Exploration is sometimes that Apollonia supposed to do if she wants to know what’s with the wards and everything Spirale offered after looking at some pamphlet that she threw away since her very first. Even if not roommates but at least living in the same place which was fairly fine with her.

Maybe heading to Cotes seemed to be reasonable why she had to go with him, regardless of what will he do there.

“If you’re going to the second ward, hope you don’t mind me coming with you.” She only wanted to see the whole Cotes for herself, which is why she picked him as company than heading alone.

Lore: Explaining the motivation behind the reveal in the last part of the Five Kaisen quest. Aka, why "Kurounishi" did it

So, we find out in the event that Scaramouche was behind the decline of the Sword Arts. But not why. Or why he spared Kazuha's grandfather. Well, if you piece together certain parts of lore from Inazuma, you can find out, I'll sum it up here:

So Scaramouche is a doll created by Raiden Shogun, who she felt pity on so set free. When he was set free he had no goals and so wondered around Inazuma. At one point he reached Tatarasuna, whereupon he made a friend among one of the swordsmiths, even did a beautiful sword dance with him etc. But the leading swordsmith, upon finding out his connection to the Shogun, locked him up (likely feared he was there to spy on them). His friend felt bad and went against orders to free him, and even suggested to beware in the future of revealing his connections to the Shogun so easily.

Because Tatarasuna was suffering during this time, Scaramouche went off to ask for help for the people at the shrine, and its implied he met with Yae Miko.

Regardless, after he left, the head swordsmith was enraged and murdered Scaramouche's friend for freeing him.

Scaramouche chose violence. He began to enact vengeance by ruining all the main five swordsmith families. Doing so in secrecy so no one knew it was a person, just assuming decline from the families.

But then he reaches the Kaedehara family. He recognizes Kazuha's great grandfather, and it's revealed the grandfather is not Kaedehara by blood, but adopted after his own father disappeared.

It's likely that Niwa was the clan from Scaramouche's friend. And so he stopped his vengeance because it would require killing the family of his friend.

He tried looking for the Note that would reveal all this while he was in Inazuma, failed, and ran off with the gnosis. Ayato, aware of his search, waited for news that he left do search as well and upon finding the Note... well, you know the rest.

When his yoriki Katsuragi was connected with but a single trace of misconduct, he had him executed without mercy.

Ever since then, the name of the sword and his title were changed forever.

James Murdoch commentary, part 2

I am very interested in what Murdoch’s original sources actually say, because as I was reading the book some more, I encounter some more “Asai” passage that makes things even more confusing. 

In the preface of the book, the only Japanese text that Murdoch credits is Nihon Senshi, which was provided to him by Baron Terauchi, then the Minister for War  (Terauchi Masatake, I would imagine, the Minister for War in office 1902-1911). He credits a few more Japanese officials and translator, but does not name any of the paperwork that was used as material to produce his book.

So in my previous post I shared this:

This is from the same book, page 172:

This passage describes that Nobunaga has a consort who is the daughter of "Asai, lord of Oumi”, and that this Asai fellow is a Christian. 

Something like this might result with someone reading this and wondering if for some reason Nobunaga had taken one of his own nieces as consort, because Murdoch does not give us the personal names of “Asai”. I would imagine that one was supposed to be Nagamasa and the other one his father Hisamasa, since that would make more sense.

It still makes the story rather strange. If that were the case, it means the source is implying that neither of the Azai men died! After their defeat, they were simply stripped off their fiefs, then converted to Christianity and lived in peace. An interesting counter to the golden skulls narrative, though I think the skull story is more credible. 

The consort who produced Nobunaga’s heir was believed to be the Lady Ikoma (Kitsuno), who passed away before the missionaries met Nobunaga. She is not related to the Asai. If this second Asai is Hisamasa, his only Christian daughter is Kyougoku Maria. 

Alas, poor Kyougoku Maria, her identity appears to have been confused with so many other women!

Incidentally, the one being described as the “second son” here sounds like Nobutaka, who is the third son. I do not have the quote on hand, but someone has once posted the Japanese translation of a missionary letter that mentioned this event. It said that Oda Nobutaka was very interested in converting, but was concerned about his father’s objections.

Headcanons of Yandere! Inasa Yoarashi

Request: Reader is a female UA student with a strong wind quirk, Inasa Yoarashi met her during the provisional license exam. She is not particularly charming or beautiful, but she peaked Inasa’s interests. Normally, she is a friendly person. However when he tried to talk to her, she would give a curt reply, clearly wants nothing to do with him. What angers him more is: She is close to Shoto Todoroki! Little did Inasa knows she is avoiding him because she is insecure about her control over the winds, she fears that the winds might favour Inasa and she would be left quirkless. Head canons please. Today is the wind boy’s birthday and there’s just so little content of him...He is underrated.

Notes: Interesting suggestion! Today is indeed his birthday, I shall tend to your request at once! I been wanting to write about him for a while ngl, but I just cannot find an exact idea. Thank you for this amazing idea, anon. There’s not much information about his personality so I don’t worry this being OOC hehe.  Sorry if this turns out to be a bit Yandere… Man this took way longer then expected, please enjoy!

You are a strong pro-hero in training. You can command airflows to your will, any gas is under your disposal. It is only a matter of time before you become the big three of your year. Even Bakugou does not want to anger you. You are a powerful tempest towards your enemies. Overall, you are quite confident about your abilities. 

That is, before you met Inasa Yoarashi during the provisional license exam.

When you first saw him, you feel this sense of…familiarity. Even though you never met him before, you cannot shake this feeling of connection with Inasa.

Then you felt his cold glance towards your direction. But when his eyes met yours, his lips curl up into a big grin and bowed slightly.

“I am Inasa Yoarashi, also known as Gale Force, from Shiketsu High. And what is your name, beautiful miss from UA?” Man, he is loud.

Ah, so he is Gale force. You learned about him when picking out your hero name, he also has a wind quirk. Then it strikes you: what if the winds like him better? What if they just abandon me while he is around? Those thoughts make you feel helpless, the scenario of being quirkless terrifies you to no end.

The blush of being called “beautiful” is gone, instead you replace it with a stoic face: “Pleasure to meet you, Mr Yoarashi. I am (F/N) (L/N), also known as (hero name). Come on Shoto, they are almost starting, we should get going. Please excuse us.”

You walk away, smiling at Shoto. Leaving Inasa there, angry and confused.

He immediately regrets withdrawing his application from UA. If he had been in your school, it is him you would smile and befriend now, instead of that wicked Todoroki! The way you are calling his first name, so intimate, just sends anger through his brain.

So, you have a wind quirk too, huh? No wonder he feels this instant connection with you.

Froze there for a couple of seconds, until Nagamasa Mora called him. “What has gotten into you, Inasa? The exam is going to start soon.” Ashamed to admit his true feelings, Inasa would brush off the older man’s concern, and pretend nothing had happened.

Words cannot describe how he felt when he saw you in your hero costume. Like Inasa, you had chosen to put a thick jacket on. The skies can get quite cold, after all. His looks practical, with multiple tubes to help regulate the air currents. But your grey coat looks like an expensive piece from a boutique, the edges even has fur for decorations. Inasa think your look fits for a scroll in the snow, instead of a battlefield. It’s probaly for disguise to fool villians. You have not fully button up the coat yet, he can still glimpse the (favorite colour) spandex bodysuit underneath. If this has not been an exam, Inasa swears he would ask you to go to dinner with him, here and now.

Feeling his gaze fixated on you, you tense up nervously. Is he finding ways to take the winds away from me? Horrified, you decide to stay far away from him during the exam as possible.

Shoto noticed your nervous state, he asks you what is wrong. You shrug, stating it is just pre-exam stress.

Every time Inasa sees you and Shoto’s friendly interactions, his heart bleeds. But he decides to wait until after the exam to take any action. He also decides to impress you with his outstanding performance in the exam.

When you choose the furthest area from him, it left him feeling disappointed. So he chooses a tall building as his battleground, to better utilize his quirk and to watch you from afar.

Unlike his approach with winds, which focus on intensity and strength, your winds concentrate their efforts on speed. Stealth and fast, most people only catch your afterimage in the corner of their eyes.

Your strategy is creating vacuums around their heads. When your opponents are choking due to lack of oxygen, you press them against a solid surface to knock them out. Then you score with the tennis balls, done. Simple yet effective. It has only been five minutes into the exam, and you are already finished, with minimal efforts of two people unconscious.

Inasa saw all of this from the top of the building, of course. Like an assassin of the night, you move with such grace, and that speed of yours! Truly amazing. He had never thought of creating vacuums before. He guesses this is one of your ultimate moves.

He might just be curious about you before, but after seeing you fly around with that incredible swiftness, Inasa find himself becoming more smitten with you.

It is settled in his mind: he has to have you. Just imagine how what a power couple you two would be! The wind duo will be invincible. And your children would have the strongest wind quirk ever.

In the break room, you sigh with relief; you reached your goals: stay furthest away from Inasa as possible and passing with negligible efforts. Taking out your (favorite snack) from your backpack, you decide to reward yourself a little.

But then you find Inasa grinning at you across the room. Your good mood vanishes instantly.

Talking to Shoto to distract yourself from his burning stare, you felt his gaze moved away.

“That Yoarashi guy, I saw him in the entrance exam for recommended students. I was surprised that he went to Shiketsu.”

Phew. You were delighted to hear him say that. You would not want to deal with this situation on a daily basis.

Before you can feel that delight, however. Inasa invites himself into your conversation.

“Your speed is incredible! The way you master your winds is truly impressive. We should train together sometime. We can share our experiences on the winds!”

Being the nice person you are, you did not ignore him, trying to bring yourself to like him. You do want to share experience with a fellow wind user.

You did not notice how he left Shoto out of the conversation, completely. Not that he wants to socialize with Inasa, but still.

To Inasa, you remind him of the warm spring breeze. A ray of sunshine, easygoing and friendly, the complete opposite of Todoroki.

Of course, you are unaware of his ridiculous plans involving a future together and children. You just see him as a enthusiastic, loud boy.

Shoto can feel his obsession thoughts for you, however. After Inasa left to prepare for the second part, Shoto warned you subtlety. But you did not take it seriously, saying that is just how Inasa make friends. “He’s like that with everyone. No need to worry.”

The second exam you devoted yourself into rescuing. Shoto said he would deal with the villain. So you just focused on dealing with injured “civilians”. After gaining knowledge of their “injuries”, you lift the debris with winds and deliver them to the first-aid station.

It was after the exam you find out the two had fight while dealing with the villain.

They did not pass. You comforted Shoto about it, leaving Inasa upset. He failed the exam too; he needs your comforting words just as much as Todoroki!

You exchanged numbers with Inasa upon depart, promise him to train together soon. You fear of inferiority is gone; being this close to him, you can sense his power is not as strong as yours. Evidently it is him who should worry about falling out of the wind’s favour.  

Your friends, especially Mina, tease you about your little encounter with the other wind user. Calling him your “Shiketsu boyfriend”. You yell for them to stop, saying you only seen him as a friend.

Inasa’s friends are pretty much the same. Although he is a year younger, his sociable nature made him approachable. He shows off now he got your number, and they all laughed. “She can create vacuums and suffocate people; I would hate to get on (y/n)’s bad side.”

After the exam, he wrote out his plan of attack, staying up until 2am to do so. Shiketsu forbid its students to have any romantic relationships, so Inasa wasn’t planning on having one with you. Your relationship with him will remain platonic until you both graduate.

It involves an arranged marriage and an immense sum of dowry to bribe your parents. His father always taught him to go after what he wants with all his might. Inasa cannot wait until you graduate and move in with him. It is such a shame a powerful hero like you have to become a homemaker so soon. But he cannot have you swinging around the city in spandex, they are for his eyes only. He wants to keep you in the safety of his house, to train his brood of offspring. Yes, that is what your prestigious UA diploma for-for his children’s head start in life.

Stalking you would be difficult since you can sense the movement of air around you. They report any abnormalities to you at once. So he watched you from afar, how you shoot across the sky like a bullet to go to school every morning, how you relaxed in mid air during lunch break, or how you laugh with your friends outdoors.

Sometimes you would feel like someone is watching you, but the winds say all clear. So you just mark it as you are being too self-conscious and do not care.

You two would occasionally text and train together/help each other with homework on weekends, getting lunch together afterwards. him acting like nothing less then a gentleman. You start viewing him as a friend, despite what Shoto said before.

Inasa is glad that you did not seem to take interest in any boys during your high school time. If you end up inTodoroki’s arms, he does not know what he will do to Shoto.

A week after you graduate UA your parents told you they have received a marriage proposal. They have already accepted it, so there is no room for negotiation.

You are shocked to surprised finding your intended to be Inasa Yoarshi. You thought of him only as a training buddy prior to this.You ask to postpone the marriage until you become a full pro-hero but was shut down rather brutally. He said he will provide for you. There is no need for you to work when he can just take care of everything.

“Don’t worry, love. I’m going to take such great care of you! You can teach the children at home, so they can get a head start in hero life!”

Avoiding him would be pretty easy considering your speed, you can carry on with hero work as if nothing has happened, even moving to another city. However if this goes on for too long, Inasa will kidnap you.

Most likely to steal you away from your apartment at night, as he is as good at being stealthy as you. You live alone, it was a breeze. Some Chloroform and ropes would get the job done. 

You would wake up in a nicely furnished room one morning, quirk-cancelling collar locked on your neck. With chains long just enough to reach the bathroom.

Inasa hates seeing you upset, but it is all going to be better once you get used to your new employment: his sweet wife, the mother of his children.

Will consider letting you go outside for grocery shopping if you been good, with his company of course.

He would never raise a hand on you, no matter how much you screams and reisists him. Being so understanding, Inasa knows you need some time to come around. 

He loves nothing more then watching you do domestic chores, this man got issues. He expects you stay at home, cook dinner for him and take care of him. Which is a nightmare for you, since you despise housewife life.

You are so helpless without your winds to protect you, so you tried to rip this goddamn collar off everyday. But it was futile: only Inasa has the key.

You went to bed with him just to get some time outdoors, since your claustrophobia is acting up. You didn’t expect him to be so gentle and soft. But you regret it soon after because he become insatiable afterwards.

Then two months later you found yourself in the bathroom, staring at a positive pregnacy test. 

Once Inasa knows about your condition, he will loosen the restrictions. You can now use your quirk under his supervisions: it’s excerise, and the two of you both need it.

He would take you to comittee events, to go visit his friends, even letting you see your friends from time to time. You also got your phone back, but with a tracking app installed on it. 

Now all he has to do is wait a couple more months to meet his child.

[BSTS] Sinju June Bride 4* Card Story

(note: Oichi is the heroine/audience in the show. Shinju references his white day role, you can read my tl of that card here !)

chapter 1 -in street-

shinju: Heyo Saki-chan~ Are you headed to Starless?

saki: Oh hello. Are you going there too?

shinju: Yep! Let's walk together.

shinju: ~~♪

saki: You look happy today, did something good happen?

shinju: Hm, do I seem that way?

saki: Yeah, since you were happily humming to yourself.

shinju: Uwah, I started doing that unconsciously... I was thinking about our next performance and started looking forward to it. Truth is, my role this time is like a chance for revenge to me. Wait, calling it 'revenge' might be exaggerating. Hmm~ Oh it's like having another attempt!

saki: Another attempt at what?

shinju: I'm playing the role of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. For the longest time he's been in love with Oichi, Nobunaga's sister. And, she's his first love!

However, since their social standings are completely different, of course there's no way he could confess. He helps Oichi escape the castle when the fighting between Nobunaga and Azai Nagamasa heats up. And despite having picked up a comb that she accidentally dropped, Hideyoshi doesn't have the courage to return it to her in person, and instead holds onto it.

It's actually a comb that Oichi received from her husband Nagamasa, and it holds memories of him. Since Nagamasa is Hideyoshi's rival in love, normally one wouldn't want to keep an item like that, right? But since it was a comb Oichi had used, Hideyoshi treasured it greatly and kept it.

He must've deeply loved Oichi don’t you think? Maybe even calling it adoration would be more accurate. So, when I thought of it like that, I realised Hideyoshi is similar to Vladimir.

saki: That's the role you played in Hatsukoi, isn't it?

shinju: Yeah! Vladimir was also in love to the point of adoration. So, I'll get my revenge with this second attempt! During Hatsukoi, even after asking the rest of my team about their first loves I still didn't end up understanding it properly in the end.

However this time, I WILL! I'm going to make the role of Hideyoshi my own and stand on stage. I want to show you that I've grown as an actor, so please look forward to it!

chapter 2 -in restaurant area-

saki: (Hm? Is that Shinju-san over there? I wonder what he's doing standing there by himself.)

shinju: .........

saki: Is something the matter?

shinju: WAH...!? You spooked me~~! It was just you then Saki-chan...!

saki: I'm sorry for startling you! I was curious what you're doing here.

shinju: Don't worry bout it, sorry for being loud. I was just spacing out. Ah, not because I'm worried about anything though! I was just feeling a little lonely. I mean, the closing show is already here, yeah? I can only play Hideyoshi for a little longer, when I realised that I got kinda sad. It must be because each time I play Hideyoshi it feels like I do well!

saki: I think that too. Your Hideyoshi is wonderful.

shinju: Heheh, I'm happy to hear you say so. (pouting) But I can only be him for one more show~ I want to understand Hideyoshi's feelings just a little more...! Saki-chan, could you watch me practice for a bit?

saki: Right now? Sure.

shinju: Yay! Then…

shinju: Imagining that this comb is you, I've kept it all this time. Because I felt that if I were to return it, my feelings for you would come to an end as well. So, I couldn't give it back. I know where your heart lies, that even now you're still thinking of the late Nagamasa. But even so, I can't seem to stop longing for you. Can you forgive me?

Forgive the fact that I'm in love with you.

saki: U-um, that just now... I don't remember there being a scene like that...

shinju: Cause there isn't, I made it up myself! In the proper show, it ends without Hideyoshi returning the comb. But I thought, if my Hideyoshi were to return it to Oichi, would he confess like this? ...What did you think? Did his confession reach her heart?

                   Townhouse 203...Townhouse 204...Townhouse 205. Finally, Katsuie had made it to Lady Oichi’s townhouse in Cotes Ward ! After those horrible experiences he’d had in the mist, he'd started worrying about her. If he hadn’t been able to leave his apartment for a couple days, had she even left her townhouse yet ? Was she eating enough ? Sleeping enough ? Katsuie walked up to the doorbell, intending to press it. As soon as he stuck out a finger, though, he froze, before starting to tremble. He would be seeing the same Lady Oichi as usual, right ? What she’d done to Lady Nouhime and Ranmaru must’ve been an accident or some sort of illusion, right ? Katsuie wasn’t sure what he’d do if he faced the same woman he’d seen during that snowy battle. All of a sudden, the townhouse’s door slammed open to reveal...Nagamasa Azai ?

                    ❛❛ Oh, sorry about that ! Ichi doesn’t usually have many visitors, so I wasn’t expecting to run into anyone waiting out here. ❜❜ Katsuie didn’t reply. Instead, his lips curled into a frown, and his gaze turned cold. Of all the people he had to encounter here, why did it have to be this man ? The one who had everything he didn’t ? Sure, Katsuie was aware that Lord Azai also lived in Spirale. He’d spotted the other man’s name in the contact list on his cell phone. Up until now, though, Katsuie had been ignoring Lord Azai. He figured that after having actually spoken to Lady Oichi, he had a chance at earning her love. Now that Lord Azai was right in front of him, though, the reality of Katsuie��s situation was sinking in.

                    ❛❛ Have we...met before, by any chance ? ❜❜ Nagamasa squinted at Katsuie when he failed to respond. The other man’s expression didn’t show any emotion, but what was that look in his eyes ? Nagamasa couldn’t quite put a name to what was there, but it made him a bit uneasy.

                    ❛❛ You may not be aware of who I am...but I know you. I know you very well. ❜❜ Katsuie's first instinct was to kill Nagamasa here and now and claim Lady Oichi as his own. But could he even pull that off with a useless wooden naginata ? Also, Lady Oichi was in the townhouse right next to the two of them. What was he going to do if she came out and panicked over finding a dead body ? While Katsuie debated with himself over how to proceed, Nagamasa piped up.

                    ❛❛ Oh...oh ! So you must be one of my brother-in-law’s soldiers ! ❜❜ Nagamasa gave a wide grin, not noticing the edge in Katsuie’s voice. ❛❛ Hahaha —– well, why didn’t you say so ? No wonder you're here to see Ichi. Please rest assured that, I, Nagamasa Azai, am doing my utmost to take care of your lord’s younger sister. By the way, what’s your name ? ❜❜

                    ❛❛ I am Katsuie Shibata, former retainer to Lord Nobunaga, and once known as the Ghost King. I am sure my name is one you are loath to hear. ❜❜

                    ❛❛ Why would I think that ? And what’s this about a ‘Ghost King’ ? ❜❜

                   The ice in Katsuie’s eyes receded, only to be replaced with confusion. This...this had to be some kind of joke, right ? News of Katsuie’s misdeeds had spread throughout the land. Lord Azai should’ve heard about Katsuie’s betrayal and how much he coveted his wife. If he didn’t, though...then was there a chance that this situation could work to Katsuie’s advantage ? Now might not be a good time to kill him. However, if he nurtured a ‘friendship’ with this man and waited until his back was turned...yes, that could work. First, though, Katsuie needed to keep Lord Azai from asking any more questions.

                    ❛❛ ...No particular reason. And as for ‘Ghost King’...think of it as a nickname of sorts. Regardless, as we both serve Lord Nobunaga, I hope that we can get along. ❜❜ Katsuie averted his gaze. That last statement was a bald-faced lie, and he didn’t want Lord Azai to spot the hatred in his eyes.

                    ❛❛ Right ! Well, I suppose I’ll be counting on you from now on ! Hahaha ! ❜❜ The jovial tone of Lord Azai’s voice made Katsuie want to vomit, but he managed to keep his composure.

Katsuie Shibata and Nagamasa Azai have formed an extremely unstable alliance !

Talk with Ichi!

Oichi never expected to be bought flowers from Nagamasa. It was merely a different kind of a flower but coming from him, this was fine for her.

"What kind of flower is this? It looked beautiful." She wondered what were those but a gift is a gift, perhaps? "Ichi do admit, this is a different one unlike the ones at home but thank you, Lord Nagamasa for this." Oichi only appreciated the flowers. If she had a flower vase at her room, she'd put them there and take good care of it.

❓ for Cyno~?

As always I'm all for Cyno post-Sumeru quest when Niwa is returned to life and finally brought to the nation by Wanderer! The thought of meeting someone who is strong and refined is such a great honor to Niwa and his serious nature wouldn't be nearly as offputting (more comforting since it'd remind him of Nagamasa's more serious demeanor). It'd be a wonderful little session where he could do many things for Niwa's sake: teach him TCG (something he wouldn't know about), show him the desert (more than likely it would be a mission since I doubt Cyno is that much of a tour guide), or teaching him what he knows from being in spantamad!

Second idea? Second idea. TCG in modern verse since Niwa has zero idea how to even begin to play that game. He could tell him the history of the game, who the cards are based after (and why), and they could do this over some afternoon tea. Will Niwa exactly get it by the end? Maybe he won't lose ENTIRELY too badly while playing, but there's always that chance he'll lose after the second round.
