Beyond filming and cast, there's nothing about The Cut. I may venture a guess that until a studio buys the rights and distribution, we won't get much else. It certainly looks like an independent venture and will be classified as such. It will be interesting to learn when and where it will premiere. I trust that if Cait chose the project it's another good choice and look forward to it. Thoughts?

‘The Flash’ Star Grant Gustin To Play Frank Sinatra Jr.’s Kidnapper In ‘Operation Blue Eyes’; Joe Mantegna Directing Film

EXCLUSIVE: Grant Gustin, known for his role as Barry Allen/The Flash in the CW eponymous series, has signed on to star in Operation Blue Eyes, in which he’ll play Barry Keenan, the infamous businessman who orchestrated the kidnapping of Frank Sinatra, Jr in 1963. Criminal Minds star Joe Mantegna is directing the indie from a screenplay by Bradley Barth and Joseph Nasser. Production is slated to commence in May.

The plot takes place in December of 1963 when Frank Sinatra Jr. is a struggling lounge singer, deep in his father’s shadow. A young wannabe stock tycoon Barry Keenan, with an ex-wife, alimony payments, a pill-addicted mother, and a similar monkey on his own back (the result of a car crash), comes up with a harebrained scheme to kidnap Junior and hold him for $240,000, ransom, chaos ensues. Barry succeeds in stealing Junior at gunpoint but after that, it’s one badly improvised move after another, until Barry bungles his way into prison.

Barry was eventually sentenced to life in prison but only served four and a half years before being released.

David Arquette starred as Barry Keenan alongside William H. Macy and James Russo in the 2003 Ron Underwood-directed Showtime adaptation, Stealing Sinatra.

Jack Nasser, Joe Nasser and Jacob Nasser of Nasser Group are producing Operation Blue Eyes along with Kirk Shaw on behalf of Wonderfilm.

Gustin’s credits include recurring on teen dramas 90210 and Glee as well as the original Lifetime movie, A Mother’s Nightmare and the Macy-directed film Krystalwith Rosario Dawson, Felicity Huffman, and Kathy Bates. He’s repped by Robert Stein Management.

Mantegna, a Tony winner and multiple Emmy award nominee, is repped by ICM.

WONDER (2017) Vecteur d’émotions, le Cinéma délaisse souvent cette caractériqtique au profit d’explosifs blockbusters: ce n’es pas le cas pour ce WONDER, le terme “mandibulofacial dysostosys” étant au centre de l’histoire. Cette difformation faciale est le visage du jeune garçon Auggie -pour August-, peu sociabilisé de par sa scolarité effectuée dans la maison parentale, qui entre dans une école publique: intelligent, doué et rêveur, il va devoir se confronter à la dure réalité, critique. Du regard des autres aux moqueries gratuites, sans oublier l’inévitable histoire d’amitié, WONDER a le mérite de ne ne pas trop s’appuyer sur le sujet, bien qu’omniprésent: le film s’attarde avec talent sur la famille et les proches d’Auggie, nous offrant un développement des protagonistes bienvenu, et une multitude de points de vue directe et rarement romancée. De bons atouts maîtrisés, qui permettent aux segments de découvrir la vie personnelle et le caractère intime de ces personnages qui gravitent autour d’Auggie -à l’intelligence équivalente à notre empathie-. Julia Roberts et Owen Wilson campent une version parentale attachante, et ce malgré le doute de la légitimité de leur implication -hors gros chèque- au projet: une alchimie est presque tangible, la famille Pullman devenant crédible à chaque séquence la concernant. Parcours semé d’embûches que celui d’Auggie, qui dispose par chance d’atouts puissants pour avancer: sa soeur aînée -dont le traitement “slice of life” et le segment sont impeccables-, et des armes insoupçonnées. En effet, il faut relever que faire d’Halloween la fête favorite du “freak kid” -comme il se fera entendre dire- est un coup de génie: une fois grimé en monstre, Auggie n’a plus la “barrière” du regard des autres; une méthode bien pensée, qui relance la principale thématique du long métrage, le débat sur la différence. Qualifié de “drame” à injuste titre, WONDER est plus un réel “slice of life” alternant comédie -la prise de confiance d’Auggie qui prend sa revanche en rétorquant-, drames -la mort de l’animal de compagnie-, et moments de loisirs intégrés à notre époque -la réconciliation amicale de deux enfants sur le chat du jeu Minecraft: la pop-culture est en effet parfois à l’honneur -la présence de Chewbacca dans l’imaginaire d’Auggie (fan de STAR WARS (1977-201?), ou encore son costume de Ghostface (SCREAM, 1996) d’Halloween- ancrant immédiatement le film au cœur du 7ème art. Les prestations impliquées de l’ensemble du cast achèvent le portrait de cette éloge à l’ouverture d’esprit et au dialogue: WONDER n’est pas un long-métrage plaintif en manque de reconnaissance, ni une leçon forcée moralisatrice. I EAT Movies a bien saisi le message de Stephen Chbosky, réalisateur à suivre: voilà comment présenter une thématique importante, avec les émotions, sans jamais trop en faire. Une sacrée surprise -idéale pour un entre-deux film- qui fait du bien, remonte le moral, boost positif de larmes aux yeux, mais pas mielleux du tout. I EAT Movies, partisan des monstres et de la différence, a apprécié la considération, et valide l’effort. On laisse aux puristes le soin de s’éventrer quant à l’absence d’un vrai cas de difformité faciale en tant que premier rôle, et de la fidélité de cette adaptation du roman éponyme de R.J. Palacio: ne vous fiez pas aux apparences! Poignant, WONDER cassera votre armure rôdée: à voir mais pas forcément à revoir au vu de la “résolution” finale scénaristique. Pas mal. THE WONDERER /20

A prequel, Amityville 1974, will begin principal photography later this year. Deadline broke the news: “The Wonderfilm Media Corporation announced today that Amityville 1974 has been given the green light to begin principal photography in November with its story of the real-life rampage murders that would become the background story for author Jay Anson’s 1977 bestseller The Amityville Horror and the numerous films that have invoked it in name or premise.” In 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. killed his mother, father, and siblings in a shotgun rampage at the infamous house at 112 Ocean Avenue in the Amityville neighborhood in Long Island.
