Presents to myself from the Christmas Market
Plus bonus winter wonderland view from my living room window!
I got to be there for "baby's first christmas market" as I went to the market with a friend of mine and her baby. That was pretty cute! The market was gorgeous as well, though unfortunately it was bloody cold and my back stiffed up on me. That was less... pleasant...
The christmas market itself was great though! They always have very artistic stalls with lots of handmade stuff. I had so much fun looking at all the beautiful things! If someone handed me 1000€ I could have easily spent it there and brought presents for everyone. As it is, I only bought one present and some presents for myself. Because I can!
I got myself some very mori kei-esque decor. The first purchase was a felted fairy/fae creature in a brown garment with a hazelnut hat. They look so precious! The second was a medium sized wooden stamp. I've actually got a bit of a collection started here - I bought four such hand whittled wooden stamps years ago as a teenager, because they look so gorgeous. Actually, I have a stamp collection in general but these are extra special with the wood used and their natural look. The texture and shapes are very pleasing. I decided to add stamp number 5 to the collection.
On the second (and final) lap of the christmas market I also had to buy myself a big wooded plate stamp. It's SO gorgeous!! I couldn't believe my eyes almost when I first saw it. And it was surprisingly affordable, for it's quality and size. I would have estimated about double the prize. I decided I'm worth to spend money on and took the beautiful plate home! ♥
I'm planning to do a "stamping session" sometimes next year. Hold me to it!!

Picture 1: A beautiful snowy view out of a window. You can see flat roofs covered in snow and many snow covered trees! A winter wonderland.
Picture 2: A hazelnut fairy/fae creature made from felt. They're wearing a long brown garment and a hat with two hazelnuts on it. Their scarf is a green hazelnut leaf. They look happy! They've been wrapped in plastic to transport them home safely.
Picture 3: A medium sized hand whittled wood stamp, with the pattern traced in white to show it better. The shape has a vague cone shape (like a tree cone) and the pattern is reminiscent of leaves and ferns. It's photographed on a knitted reddish-and-magenta coloured sock.
Picture 4: A close-up of a big wooden stamp - it's a plate about the size of two hands held next to each other. The pattern is again traced in white. It consists of interlocking flowers and ornamental shapes and leaves.
Picture 5: A weathered looking blue wall shelf is shown. It houses two flowerpots and a white bird cage, styled with fabric flowers and fake birds and crystals. There's some more decorative pieces scattered about. Newly added are the medium-sized wooden stamp, the hazelnut fairy and the big wooden plate stamp. I also grouped a little plate piled with chestnuts and acorns in front of the hazelnut fairy and wooden plate stamp. They just go together!
Picture 6: A close-up of the new addition of the hazelnut fairy and the big wooden plate stamp, with the little plate filled with chestnuts and acorns in front of it.

The other day went to a thrift shop and saw a fairly large clear bag full of wooden stamp blocks. Had been on the fence for awhile if I wanted to try my hand at them. Because gosh darn it some of the designs are adorable! When I saw the bag and then the price of $4 I immediately was like hell yeah! Then I immediately spotted three more on the shelf. Did I grab the others? Did I have to maneuver my way through some rather snarky ladies? Yes to both. For the record I didn’t take any of the bags from anyone, honestly I don’t think they saw them; just that store especially the craft art aisle is always a bit hectic to put it mildly.
Anyways got home with them and ripped open the bags and started to look at what I got. Keep in mind I paid a grand total of $12. In the second bag several still had their original price stickers on them including one for $15. I immediately started laughing. Didn’t count but myself and my mom say well over 100 stamps. Again just for $12. 98% are cute as hell.
No idea what I’m doing with them, but I’m excited to figure it out. That night my wonderful hubby bought me a set of 18 (i think…) ink pads of various colors.
I’m hoping to go through them again and organize by themes/subjects and when I do that I might take a picture of them along with an accurate count.
Oh I also bought three pairs of shorts, two shirts, blouse and skirt combo thing (honestly I thought they were shorts) oh and a sewing machine for $30. It was a fucking successful trip!

Stamped to Last: Why Self-Inking Stamps Outshine Traditional Alternatives
Self-inking stamps are often considered more powerful or advantageous compared to traditional wooden stamps for several reasons:
Convenience and Efficiency: Self-inking stamps have an integrated ink pad, which means you don't need a separate ink pad to use them. This makes them more convenient and efficient for repetitive stamping tasks.
Consistent Impressions: Self-inking stamps are designed to provide consistent and even impressions with each use. The mechanism ensures that the right amount of ink is applied to the stamp pad each time, resulting in clear and legible imprints.
Less Mess: With self-inking stamps, there's less chance of ink spills or smudges since the ink pad is contained within the stamp. This can lead to cleaner and neater results, especially in fast-paced or high-volume stamping situations.
Longevity: Self-inking stamps typically have a longer lifespan compared to wooden stamps. The built-in ink pad can be easily replaced once it runs out of ink, prolonging the usability of the stamp without the need for messy re-inking or maintenance.
Versatility: Self-inking stamps often come in various sizes and shapes, and they can be customized with different texts, logos, or designs. This versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, from office paperwork to crafting projects.
Ease of Use: Self-inking stamps are generally easier to use compared to traditional wooden stamps. They require less effort to apply pressure, and there's no need to manually ink the stamp before each use, making them more user-friendly, especially for beginners.
Overall, while wooden stamps have their own charm and appeal, self-inking stamps offer a more practical and efficient solution for many stamping needs, making them a preferred choice in many professional and personal settings.
