Any tips on how to develop a story. Like to take a concept and make it a journey. I have good ideas but when I put my fingers on the keyboard... blank. Ps. I’m not trying to get into fanfics. So no thunder will be stolen from you. Not that could happen any how.

I’d love to have a ton true and tried tested tips on how to develope a story, but unfortunately, I don’t.

I’m aware that I have several stories, and that many of those stories are very large, but actually planning things out is not really something I excell at! 

Actually, I’m insanely bad at it. I’m someone who most of the time has a vaaague sense of idea where I want to go, and then I try to aim for that.

What I can tell you, is how I somewhat do it.

The most important thing you can do, is just write

A lot of what you make is going to be shit/not live up to your expectations, but the only way to get better at something, is to simply do it.

It’s insanely frustrating to have to scarp the third version of the same scene, but maybe the fourth will be better.

A lot of the time my first drafts of a fic will look something like this:

This is a veeeery rough first draft of an idea I had, but it gets the jist down because while “Boner. Humps” doesn’t make it a good story, it tells me where I’m going and what I want to see in the story in the future.

Realises how much he has hurt Vanjie isn’t very usefull, but it allows me to continue writing my story when I don’t want to get caught up in making sure the hands are in the right places and I haven’t written “smiles” a million times in a row.

If your specific problem is that it’s hard for you to write because the blank page of a computer is imtimidating, then don’t write on a computer. I write on both my phone, ipad, laptop and workcomputer (when I get a really good idea)

Most of my first drafts are almost always made on my phone, and then when I need to flesh out I sit down with my computer, and work what I’ve written over.

If all you have is a good idea, write down that good idea, and then see where you can go from there. Is the idea at the end of your story? That’s perfectly fine, just get it down, because it’s impossible to edit nothing.

I’m very aware that my process is probably very messy to most, and that this might not have helped at all, but I’m honestly just a nerd who happens to write fanfics once in a while because I have a story I’d like to tell.

I have a file that I need everytime I work, I therefor have that as a Autostart on the workcomputer. The file is to be updated/replaced in the new year. Went to change the autostart. No file. The file starts at startup, but there’s no path from the autostart folder...

Turns out there’s two folders. I THINK on is computer generall and the other user-specific, but hard to tell.

I have been using ps4 for netflix and workcomputer for workmail, and phone for tumblr, but like not much. almost no social media, no pc. Mostly off internet. It feelt good.
