#think of the children

I'm serious when I say the United States is actively hostile to children. Constant school shootings our leaders refuse to do anything about. Child Protective Services that overwhelmingly do nothing of the sort. No healthcare. Our education system is abysmal. Very few areas in the public that are safe for children to be in. Large swaths of states making gender affirming care for trans kids a felony. Child marriages are legal in a lot of states. Treating kids like property parents have every right to do whatever they want to, to the point where the U.S. is one of the very few countries that refused to ratify the U.N.'s Convention On The Rights Of The Child explicitly on the basis that treating children like people erodes the rights of American parents. And now states are enacting laws that overturn child labor laws like it's the goddamn Victorian Age. And even before those laws were made, it turns out that migrant children have been working in factories for a lot of companies, including the supposedly socially-minded Ben and Jerry's.
As complicated as adult life is, I would never want to be a kid again, with no say or agency in my life and completely helpless to the whims of the adults around me.

This is partly the reason why kinito wears glasses...

Kinito, you are not being a good role model towards the kids! You should be teaching them the following instead!

Familiarize yourselves with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The US hasn't signed it yet, but if they had the stunts the alt-right are trying to pull would definitely go against it.
We have to be on the forefront of the children's rights movement and protect it intersectionality along with other civil rights movements like trans rights, gay rights, women's rights, poc rights, indigenous rights, Jewish rights, disabled rights and all basic human rights.
If they go after one of us, they go after us all. Right now children aren't protect so they're being targeted first.
We can't let them use "what about the children" as an excuse to create laws that harm children and adults. But as far as I can see, we are not making as much noise about children's rights. People who care about children might be drawn to the alt-right if they falsely believe that this is the only children's rights movement, we can't allow that to happen.
So spread the word.
Children's rights are human rights.
Trans children's rights are human rights.

Two more patterns to finish (one’s up later today on Ravelry! the other is aiming for the 26th, but I don’t know if there is anything like leisure or free time or even work time on the 24th and the 25th so I may not be able to do any meaningful finalizing even if I have everything I need for that, and I’m not sure I do. So I’d probably say the 27th for it, at the earliest).
But once that’s all done, I can do whatever I want! Easy times! Knitting socks! Within reason!
Also the cowl is live now! It’s called Pathos. It builds off the argument shawls. You can probably guess where I hope to continue going with this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(It also echoes the Emerger cowl somewhat, but is knit much larger, so the cape-like possibilities are a bit more deliberate here.)

stop throwing ur cigs away in parks. theyre an invasive species they belong in their natural habitat (pavements and windowsills) where they play a vital role in the ecosystem (nicotine dependent children brush them off and smoke them with their friends)

Challenge #04128-K110: Unwelcome in More Places
Several humans from a larger nearby polity, learning of the city of Middenden, try to go and subjugate it. It's filled with "filthy monsters" after all and "devils". Their heavily armed soldiers, and their leaders, quickly learn these beings are not weak, and are tired of being treated like this, they deserve respect too, damnit!
https://peakd.com/fiction/@internutter/challenge-03642-i354-unwelcomed-experiences -- Lessons
The real problem with People of Import is that they have a great influence on everyone who knows them. Lies Hashu could be very vocal, as all the citizens of Middenden well knew. She bullied her way into the attention of Duke Urbicandol Koyunlyr, who had an impressive army and a low tolerance for self-important trumpeting.
Those uppity types had to be controlled. Taught their place. Otherwise, they'd all get ideas. Think they could govern themselves. And then they'd get stronger than they deserved to be, and spread corruption and deprivation all over the known world.
She didn't even need a third chorus of, "Think of the children!"

THIS SHOWS EXACTLY WHAT PISSES ME OFF ABOUT TRANSPHOBES. THEY DO NOT CARE IF YOUR KIDS GET FUCKING BEATEN. THEY ONLY GET MAD IF YOUR KIDS ARE TRANS.
SPREAD THE FUCKING WORD SO HOPEFULLY PEOPLE DONT GET MANIPULATED INTO THINKING TRANSPHOBIA IS TO "protect the kids"
(and the fact that they called the trans kid just "trans". they don't even see your kids as kids as soon as they come out as trans.)

one of the big things you have to be careful with in ANY political sentiment is “think of the children.” because children are an easily targeted and highly oppressed group in this world, and bad actors will take note of that and use it to further whatever agenda they have. trans people? think of the children. rap music? think of the children. sex ed? think of the children.and it works! because it’s natural for people to be immediately protective and defensive around children and anything that is perceived as a threat to them is immediately shut down. it’s easy to slip into that kind of trap.
what i do when i hear about “think of the children” sentiment is ask myself: if i was a little kid, and i heard about this stuff, would it affect me negatively? alternatively, have i heard this kind of stuff as a little kid, and did it affect me negatively? 90% of the time the answer is no. trans people? i read a book with a trans woman in in at age 9 and all i thought was “oh, i didn’t know people could do that. cool!” i listened to a lot of so-called scandalous rap music in my tweens and i still do, and my most extreme reaction was “haha, the song said fuck.” i heard 13 year olds talking about sex when i was 7, and i took it upon myself to learn about it: all i thought was “wow that’s weird, i don’t get why people do that.”
kids are much more tolerant and resistant than people think they are. a child hearing a few people cuss or accidentally reading a book with sex scenes in it or merely seeing a trans person walking around in public isn’t going to traumatize them. listen to kids, and think about when you were a kid.

Morbidly hilarious that America is ALSO starving its children.
A country so prosperous that it can fund another country's genocide, can't even feed the children it claims to protect.

Why did the Kids Choice Awards make a point of not nominating Noah for Stranger Things while nominating everyone else (boys and girls) from The Party, as well as the show itself?
Scratch that, let me rephrase.
Why did the Kids Choice Awards nominate actors from a show that kids aren't supposed to be watching in the first place, as well as the show itself?

Preview for episode 42
I noticed a detail that bothers me
You have been warned!
Tumblr media
His back! ;-; It looks like he's been pierced through!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nooooo!
But then again, in the preview we see Gira using OhgerCalibur ZERO to finish off Dugded, while someone else holds the lance to Dugded's back
Tumblr media
So maybe, it's just that Racules was blasted through and is thus unable to fight, so Gira picks up the sword and finishes the job with Racules using the lance to hold Dugded. Then, when Dugded explodes and Gira shields not-transformed Racules with his body
Tumblr media
This seems to be the finish of the battle, since Gira holds ZERO and Racules holds the lance, and Racules seems to be wounded (his face and hand) but I can't see his chest
Some more points to reignite the hope
- my recent theory that Racules is also unkillable, like Gira, just without special powers
- Hasties had that reviving machine (you know the one that revived Daigorg) so there is something up with that
- Racules, or rather OhKuwagata Ohger, was present on the cover of the script for the last 3 episodes that Erica (Himeno's actress) posted on her twitter
- he was also on the graphic for 100k followers on King-Ohger's twitter
- we saw him and Gira on tik-tok dancing together, where Racules was wearing a plain shirt, without his coat (or what's the word for that) but with the belt for the sword still on, so it suggests that we'll see Racules in that outfit. Maybe when he will be recovering in the hospital or sth?
Then again I didn't see him on pictures from Jerami's actor's birthday and we didn't see his pictures with other actors, but maybe he just wasn't on the set that day
- also, Gira can't hold two swords (3, because the kyoryuger one too!) and a lance all at once! So it would make more sense if, let's say, Gira kept his OhgerCalibur and the kyoryuger sword and Racules would keep ZERO and the lance, yes, that could work
- he's the best character, they can't take him away from us, especially that we haven't even seen his real self yet and we need it!
- so far the only people who died during the show were Dethnarak, Karras and Shiron, but then again Dethnarak would already die anyway from growing giant and he was an antagonist (Racules is a different kind, shut up! ;-;) and Karras was already presumed dead anyway and Shiron was more of a side character anyway...
- Takamina - the writer - says on his twitter that King-Ohger is created with primary goal of making children happy! They will be devastated if Racules just dies like that! So soon! I know that drama and shit, but think of the children!
- there's too much potential for him! Like, he's married and now he'd get his bro back and his and Kaguragi's and Suzume's actors are interested in making a funny spin-off! Please!
- also, it's going to air on Christmas' Eve! Come on, please, I want "Racules surviving the show" on Christmas!
It's like when Racules was thrown off a cliff again. We were sure that he's comiing back, because obviously, but there was still that one bit of uncertainity that was still bugging me, like a little rock in your shoe...

Punitive culture in America is fucking obscene. I saw a legal ad on Facebook asking for clients who were sexually abused in a juvenile detention center here in Maryland as part of a lawsuit against the juvie, and like half the comments are shit like "thank God I was a good kid who knew how to act so I never had to deal with this! 🙏" Or flat out saying these children deserved to be sexually abused because they were criminals.
Americans are all about "protecting the children!" from groomer Boogeyman but if you're the wrong kind of child then you deserve what you get. What the ever loving fuck
