Question from a dumb white bitch. I'm making my own world. With various cultures. Some of which are inspired by real world cultures. It is mostly set in a Caribbean inspired location around the Golden age of Piracy. Again though, own world, different culture. I live in a tiny hick town. I dont have many friends that share my views or aren't white. I am working on the indigenous culture that lives in my island area. And I would love to have some friends who could check my shit. Again I know its fanasty and my own world. But that doesn't mean I don't put in the work. I have a lot of stuff for them already. But still, I'm not looking for brownie points. I'm just looking for people to point out if doing something harmful(again I'm a dumb white bitch. Also autsitic so I sometimes need things pointed out) Because the story im writing is a queer fanasty for everyone. So if anyone on here can point me to information on The indigenous people of the Caribbean (the Taíno, the Island Caribs of the Lesser Antilles, and the Guanahatabey of western Cuba. Source wiki) or are part of any of these tribes and would like to have a friendly chat please hit me up! I work at a tribal casino in Michigan. I dont know how Tribal offices work down south im afraid. I've done some research and have lore and history planed. And again its my own world. No 'Mythology' is shared with real world. In this world each culture shares the same Gods and Magic. Just how they practice is different. I dont wanna explain to much of my story on a public post. Hey Jen!! Do you know anything about suits? I really want to buy a few but kinda scared if buying them and looking ridiculous because I literally don’t know what I’m doing lol. There’s so much suit etiquette and I just want to look nice! ): I kinda don’t care if my dress shirt has to be slightly down around the wrists I just wanna look good but scared of messing it up!? I don't know much about suits. I inherited my dad's 1970's wide lapel brown suit that he only wore for funerals and weddings. I was the only one it will fit because I am build like him. I haven't even had a chance to wear it for anything.

IF I had the money I would find an old style 1970's 3 piece demin brown suit like Wrangler used to make in a Western style. I had one as a kid and LOVED it.

Find your style. It might be Western Cut, Modern suit, 1950 3 piece business fashion, 1970's wide lapel or 1980's slim fit. OR any combination. There are lots of styles And accessories can make a suit. There are Vests, suspenders (my favorite) , leather belts, pocket square, ties, pocket watches, socks to add a tiny bit of color, shoes, lapel pins etc. You get the idea.

Most mid sized cities will have a seamstress or taylor who can help fit a suit and it is less expensive than you think. Dry cleaners, wedding shops, even department stores like JC Penneys or similar will have a list or have a taylor on staff to refer you to. I well fitted suit is an investment of sorts.

ALRIGHT I’M ONLY GONNA SAY IT ONCE

You do not have to have your characters name mean something. It can just sound nice or it’s the first thing you think of when you think of the person. Sure names can have meaning. I still look up name meanings! But how many people do you know IRL that have names other than “My parents thought it sounded nice.” Or “I’m named after my  “Great grandsomething”. Don’t feel pressured to make everything have a deeper meaning. This goes for shop names, countries, organizations, planets, items, anything. SOMETIMES THE MEANING IS IT SOUNDS NICE.
